Reeder. Positive Reviews

I didn’t understand this redesign at firstReeder has been my favorite feed reader for years, but I’ll admit that this update left me confused at first. It felt like it was trying too much, and I didn’t really understand its purpose. That was until early this summer when I took a long, hard look at my usage of the internet, social media, and how I was consuming information. I decided that I was worn out by being inundated with “recommendations” and opinions that I genuinely didn’t care about. This redesign has helped me collect, filter, and organize the information and content I genuinely care about while cutting the cruft and not putting myself at risk of being lured by algorithms trying to goad me down a rabbit hole that I don’t actually want to go down. This app has definitely helped me save my sanity by helping me take control of the information I’m seeing. I just wish the developer would bring back the OLED Black theme from previous versions..Version: 2025.9.1

A welcomed rebirth!!I used to use the old Reeder on my iPad in college back in 2012 and it was my go to for everything, I used it for collecting all of the noise on the Internet and putting it into one place, and then the whole online news and RSS feed industry sort of shifted into a different direction with social media, and I never stopped missing the old foundation of Reeder. I’m so astoundingly excited that this new updated version is back on my phone, I can guarantee that this is gonna be my go to for collecting everything in one place, and I love how clean, sleek and simple this app is. I also love that the developer is putting a lot of heart and soul into the app And while there is a subscription payment model it’s fairly cheap and affordable, and it feels like a fair trade for a quality stand-up app. I’m looking forward to seeing the new updates that the developer is working on to improve the app overtime and it sounds like they are really taking into account honest feedback. It took me about 30 seconds to decide that I would go ahead and pay for the subscription because the app is just that good right out of the box..Version: 2025.5

It’s Good! Make the leap and move on from ClassicI delayed trying this because I am a massive Reeder classic user. But now that I have, I can reassure all of those coming from Classic that this is a great app. It still needs some minor refinements, and there is a getting used to it, but I am really enjoying the new version and experience without the unread counts, replaced by the saved scroll position. Despite what you read in early reviews about scroll positions not working or syncing well, I can confirm it works seamlessly now between Mac, iPad , and iPhone. My only request and the reason for four stars is that it lacks a iPhone widget. I am used to seeing a feed of news stories on widgets on my phone now and have gone so far as to remove application icons from my home screen in favor of widgets. I am not seeing widgets for this new version of Reeder at this time unless I am missing something. Definite five stars when it adds widgets..Version: 2024.11

Feed Glitches Under TahoeI love what has now become Reeder Classic with read counts rather than the new Reeder’s timeline. However, Reeder Classic looks now to be abandoned. Hence, downloading the new Reeder. I could probably get used to not having read counts any more due to the otherwise great design of the app except for one thing. It’s really not compatible with macOS Tahoe 26. I have to constantly reload or quit and restart the app for it to show all the feeds. They keep disappearing making it entirely frustrating to use. The app works fine on the iPad with iOS 26, but not on the Mac. This has been going on for the past two weeks that I have been trying to use the app and why the developer has not addressed this is beyond me. Other readers (ReadKit, News Explorer, etc.) have no such problem with Tahoe. I really don’t want to switch apps, but I will not subscribe to an RSS reader that can’t display feeds properly. So, where is the love for this app from the developer? And, their commitment to their customers?.Version: 2025.9

2 items missing for full adoptionComing from reeder 5, there are two items that are holding me back from making the switch. Beyond that I think this app has a good start at simplifying the way information is consumed. It also adds some capabilities that were missing in reeder 5 that for me were much needed. The first thing that this app is missing is some indication that a new article is available to read. I get the need to not show a count but something like bolding the folder or feed source title would make all the difference. If you are looking for ideas you could make the title glow yellow to play off of the cool new lightening app icon. The second item is that there is no way to easily transition from one feed or folder into another. Reeder 5 allows you pull past the last article in the feed to move to the next feed or folder. That was really slick and kept you in the flow of reading content. Looking forward to updates in the future. Keep up the great work..Version: 2024.10

Pretty nice, needs a few optionsI was initially skeptical, but I really like the idea of syncing scroll position instead of just going off of unread counts. That said, it wouldn’t hurt to see a count of unread stories from various feeds I’ve subscribed to. Overall, the app feels very polished, intuitive, and it works for me. I think a $10/yr subscription is quite reasonable, so I’ll happily pay when I run into the feed limit. The one place where the app could use some real improvements is in display options. The column of text using the built-in viewer is much narrower than I would like, but it doesn’t seem like there’s any way to change it. Also, article images in the list of stories are FAR too large for some feeds I subscribe to, and there are no options to constrain their size or placement. There are some other less important UI quirks, but nothing too serious..Version: 2024.10.1

Excellent start!First and foremost, Great work!! I am a long time user of Reeder (I think something like 10 years or more, however long it’s been out) and I was really looking forward to this update which does not disappoint. First what I like: Clean, simple interface and reasonable pricing allowing me to import my feedbin XML with a pro membership. Worked like a charm and even pulled out a handful of broken feeds for me, great. The one thing I miss right away however, is the “endless scroll.” I used to love just tapping the first reeder link and viewing the text here in the app and scrolling endlessly until I found an article that really grabbed my attention. I’d like to see that come back in some fashion down the line. I’ll save any other feedback for after I’ve used it a bit more but great start right away!!.Version: 2024.9.2

I always return to this oneI love trying out new ways to aggregate my feeds. While there are many fantastic options out there like NetNewsWire, Feeeed, and Tapestry, I always end up coming back to Reeder. It simply has the most pleasant UX, and does everything I want it to do exceptionally well. Other apps may have other interesting features (like Feeeed’s variety shuffling) but I always find that Reeder implements what I actually need the best. Also, ignore any review bombing. That’s just coming from people who made a one time purchase on the old version of Reeder and expect to get lifetime updates for free, for some reason. That old app still works fine, but I will happily subscribe to an app that promises to continue adding features and quality like this.Version: 2025.2

Please provide an option to remove the huge Site Icon + Name from the top of each post in timelineThe “site icon & site name” takes up a huge portion of every post and it’s really unnecessary and distracting, makes the feeds timeline longer to scroll, fewer posts to show on screen at a time. please provide a compact layout option for: [thumbnail on left, post title & excerpt on right, *tiny* site icon & site name below excerpt] and an option to limit the excerpt to just 2-3 lines in the feeds timeline so it’s not too long. I reeaally like your app and look forward to switching to it from Newsify. please take a look at their “Table View” for the article list layout. currently i find the huge site icon and site title way too distracting and hard to read articles from 40+ sites..Version: 2025.9.1

A new way of viewing feedsThis is one of those apps where you either get it, or you don’t. The polarizing reviews prove that. If you’re looking for a traditional RSS reader app, this ain’t it, so don’t expect that. A 1 star review isn’t warranted if you had the wrong idea going into it. I personally like this type of feed. The main trouble I’ve had with the app is it won’t recognize certain URLs which clearly have RSS (as evidenced by the fact other RSS readers will recognize it). As a long time user of Reeder Classic, I’m not a fan of the subscription. There could be a better way to do this where the developer stays supported, but the user doesn’t feel like they’re renting software. The GoodLinks app (which isn’t a competitor) does this great, with optional paid upgrades every year..Version: 2025.2

A new way to think about online contentThis app has a very specific concept for how to relate to online content, and it’s a bit of an adjustment. Rather than being a kind of inbox, it’s all about kind of standing in a river of feeds and letting it all flow by, grabbing anything interesting as it passes. It’s a lot more like scrolling a social feed than managing a huge RSS setup. It turns out this is a great approach for me. More fun, less stressful, and it lets me step away from some of my social feeds while still getting the content and experience that I liked from them. I think the dev ought to give a more generous timed free trial, because it really does take some time to figure out how this app works for you. I’m glad I took the risk..Version: 2025.5

Great concept, needs a bit more polishI have been going back and forth between Reeder and Unread for years, and I was expecting to dislike this new approach. I was surprised to see that I actually enjoy the experience and might adopt it. I was able to import all my feeds with no issues, even the folders have been maintained. The main problem for me is the lack of bulk actions. I have some folders that I read separately from the main timeline: being able to exclude them from the Home view is great, but it takes forever if a folder contains a lot of feeds. It would be great to have the option to exclude an entire folder in one shot. There is also another issue, which I think (hope) is because I am following many feeds and some synced later than others. The issue here is that my feed has been “taken over” a couple of times by hundreds of very old posts, from a single feed. I’d assume that, now that everything is synced, this won’t happen again. Anyway, kudos to Silvio for having the courage to try something new and to put it out there!.Version: 2024.9.3

An excellent reinterpretation of what an RSS reader should beIt took me a while to warm up to the approach taken by the new version of Reader as it seemed to turn everything I was comfortable with in the older Reeder on its head. After a couple of forays back and forth between the two versions I have finally settled on the new approach. After I few months with the new version I still have to remember that the letter K has now replaced J as the prime navigation key, and I still finding myself reflexively hitting the letter L (later) rather than J when I want to return to an article previously viewed. That aside, I’m getting to really like the new approach. One small niggle: can we please have a keyboard shortcut ro select reader view?.Version: 2026.3

Better Than TapestryAfter using both, I can confidently say I much prefer Reeder because: 1. The timeline is much cleaner, and I much prefer this design. 2. The audio player is miles better (nicer full screen design, and it actually shows you chapters for podcasts that have them) 3. The iPad app is significantly better (makes much better use of the added screen real estate with a multi column layout) 4. Shows more context for Bluesky/Mastodon threads (if the post in your timeline is part of a longer thread, you could actually see all the previous posts within that thread if you tap the post to get a better idea of the context) 5. Much better reading experience for longer articles/blogs (better spacing, font, and nice option to enter a “reader mode” or have posts within a specific feed open directly into that “reader mode”) 6. Customizable swipe options I’ll continue to subscribe to and check in on Tapestry to follow their updates, and will update this review if/when necessary, but at the moment Reeder provides me with a much nicer experience..Version: 2025.2

Exactly what I have been looking forI’ve been trying a lot of read it later services and I just wanted an app that I could store links and stories in that would make it easy to organize and view them without being soloed or having unread notifications causing anxiety to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I love the home feed and the fact it syncs the position. There are some quirks in that sometimes the order of stories varies between devices. Overall though, it works pretty well. I love the new folders and the ability to add from so many sources. Keep up the great work. I am looking forward to what comes next..Version: 2024.9.2

Missing the previous versionI love supporting independent developers, and subscribed to this right away after using the previous version of Reeder (.) The design / performance is great. I like the macOS support. But the lack of read/unread is making me unable to use it with my workflow, and have been falling back to the previous app. While I like the idea of bookmarking stuff that's interesting, my whole usage of the app is based on running down feeds like an inbox, marking as read, and moving on. I would love to keep the bookmarking support mixed with read/unread. As it stands it's just not working for my use case. The other thing I miss is the ability to swipe down / up to access feed items without having to tap through each of them. Anyway, lovely app, maybe my use case is just kind of a weirdo way of approaching feeds... I'll probably keep checking features as they're added but will likely not use this much moving forward even though I was *really* excited about it!.Version: 2024.9.2

A critical part of my workflowI was initially skeptical of the all-in-one reader that included social media as a concept. One of the primary reasons was that a feed reader wasn’t built for the interactions that are native to social media. However, Reeder does a wonderful job making those interactions feel very close by, with easy ways to open up your social media app or site to reply or like, etc. I’m now using this app all the time to read, save and organize items. It helps me to avoid having to constantly open different apps and allows me to compile things I want to save for my digest newsletter..Version: 2025.9

Simply PerfectI have used several RSS readers over the years. Some have endured for many years, while others were short-lived. Some were designed for people who were clearly far better-described as “power users” than I. I am a simple person who simply wants a way to keep track of my feeds chronologically and consistently. The old Reeder did that. And the new Reeder does it as well or better. And yes, it’s a subscription. But it’s possibly the most fair subscription I pay for. It provides a relatively simple product, for a reasonable price. I will happily continue to support this app for the foreseeable future..Version: 2025.4.1

Fantastic new release, amazing attention to detailSuch a great way to stay up-to-date with your favorite publications in a beautiful and easy-to-use interface. Love that there are still people creating boutique apps with attention to detail, including great UX and beautiful animations. To power users of old Reeder leaving negative reviews: just use the old version and stop complaining about something that wasn't built for you. It's still supported by the dev. Also, I'm more than happy to pay a subscription fee for an app that continues to receive love and attention from the dev. It's incredibly generous that the dev even shipped improvements for the old app that was a one-time purchase. How would you like it if you were paid a salary for one year, and then we all got mad that you didn't work for free for the next 10 years? But seriously, if you care about good apps from developers who care, this is an essential utility for consuming content on the increasingly fragmented and messy internet..Version: 2024.9

A novel take on RSSReeder is amazing. I loved the original version, and I think I love the new one even more. The app takes some getting used to for RSS users used to typical unread counts, but once you do, it just feels normal. Like scrolling social media. There’s no pressure to finish — just a little number telling you how many articles there are left until you’re caught up. (And if you don’t want that, you can disable it.) The iCloud Sync is bulletproof. You can stop scrolling on your Mac, take your iPhone out, and it’ll keep you right where you left off. Truly a brilliant app and worth every penny..Version: 2026.3

Confusing? Needs More OptionsThe home feed displays oldest first, but then not all in the correct order. Sometimes it’s right then other times it displays a huge chunk from a single feed going back over 5 years. Makes it unusable. There are no options currently to change the ordering - which seems odd. And then… how do you clear your home feed? There is no option to do so and there doesn’t seem to be a read / not read option. It just saves your scroll position in the feed. Maybe that’s a purposeful decision to make something that’s ‘not an RSS reader’ and I can respect that. Maybe it’s just not for me. Or maybe I need a few more quality of life type features to use it..Version: 2024.9

News Explorer is still KingBut this is getting there. I just purchased it after seeing folder support added, but being unable to arrange folders and feeds is frustrating. But looking at the release notes, I’m guessing it’s on the to-do list. Overall, awesome design and feature set; would love to possibly see podcasts added down the line as well as the ability to import keys from Anthropic/OpenAI to use with system prompts and easily summarize or modify the article content easily. Will continue to use and looking forward to future enhancements. Great job once again!.Version: 2024.9.2

Love this app…. ButI love this app. I’ve tried almost every rss reader on the AppStore and I keep coming back. Just please add some more customization! Adding sepia background options and font customization (at least a serif option) would make this app so much better! Your other app, Mela, already has this feature too! I read a lot and would love some more premium features that app like Instapaper have. Remembering scroll location, highlighting, pagination, etc for longer form writing. Offline reading would be great too. I’d pay more for features like this!.Version: 2025.5

Great take on reading from the bestI like this new version of reeder. It just came out, so I don’t have a ton to say, but I’m enjoying the design a lot and also it was easy to get set up with my feeds from Reeder Classic - just export the OPML file and then I was good to go (some feeds were dead or changed so I double checked those to add them back if the site hadn’t died or moved - not the apps fault). Looks like an app I’ll be working to get settled into. Only thing it’s taking me a while to absorb (it’s day one) is the read statuses on articles. I know I’ll get it, but that’s a big change..Version: 2024.9

GeniusI’ve been using Reeder for close to 15 years now, and was skeptical when I first saw the “new” Reeder. After trying it out for a little while, I realized that the changes make so much sense. I follow a lot of feeds, and while the “old” Reeder was great at helping me keep up with what I cared about, it created another inbox for me to clear. The redesign lets me scroll through all my feeds using the familiar timeline paradigm and I can check out what I want to without feeling the pressure of clearing out all the “unreads”. Can’t recommend this highly enough..Version: 2025.9.1

I’m looking forward to seeing this developI’m al long time fan of Reeder. This new app has an amazing look and feel. Having said that, not being able to delete/archive items is super frustrating to those of us who practice inbox zero or just want a clean look. But what is beyond maddening is not having any way to tell what I read and what I haven’t. It’s difficult to wrap my head around how this is considered a feature. Please fix these two issues and this will be the best RSS and read-it-later app in the app store..Version: 2024.12

I actually like itI was ready to hate this reimagining of Reeder when I first installed it. Then I actually used it and I really appreciate what the developer is going for. It’s a sleeker, less compartmentalized experience than previous iterations of the app. I do think the developer could have done more to set expectations so users wouldn’t have such a polarized response. I also wish the app had launched with more of the customization options that we’re used to. The fact that there are no typography settings beyond font size is a proper oversight. But I do like this new app. I’ve already subscribed. A buck a month or ten bucks a year is very reasonable. I also like that it syncs via iCloud instead of expecting us to sign up for some lame third-party service. Once you set it up, it’s seamless across iOS, iPadOS and macOS. No logins, no fuss. It feels like the future. But yeah, better typographic options please..Version: 2024.9.1

Just AwesomeI was skeptical at first, coming from Reeder Classic. But after using and getting used to the new Reeder, I can’t imagine going back. The design of the UI is lovely, and the app feels so simple. It has just the right amount of features for me which means it doesn’t feel bloated, or I’m having to dance around additional features I don’t use. The ability to set a reading mode for each individual feed is my favorite new feature. Now I’m just waiting for a “True Black” theme to come! Thanks for an awesome app!.Version: 2025.2.1

Beautiful AppI really love the new Reeder. I had stuck with the old version for a while after the new one was introduced. I mainly used it for RSS and didn’t feel like I needed the new features. But after a while I started to get curious with how Silvio moved along the new version. I gave it a try as my new RSS reader and the app did not disappoint! It’s got a gorgeous design and is so buttery smooth and performant. I love this app and I think it’s got one of the best designs for liquid glass on the mac as well. Download it you won’t regret it!.Version: 2025.9

Good Design, But Missing FeaturesI've always liked the developer's design sensibilities, and $10/yr seems reasonable for an RSS junkie like me. May I make a feature request? - I'd like to have a special tag that will save a permanent copy of the article somewhere. In the interest of keeping things lightweight, maybe allow for a webhook to be configured and called for a given tag and let the user take it from there. Maybe the client itself makes the webhook request?.Version: 2025.3

This is not an RSS AppJust for anyone wondering what's going on, seems the developer changed the entire design or purpose of the app to now make it just a feed of your news and stuff, as opposed to a true RSS Reader App. WOuld have ben MUCH beeter if they just named the old one Reeder RSS or something to clarify. Again, This is NOT an RSS Reader app. It looks to be nearly identicle to Tapestry, although with different UI & customization options. I do like being able to open links directly in an In-App Browser, but that would be useful in the actual Reeder RSS app. I mean, I still LIKE this app? But it's just not a replacement for Reeder. Reeder is dead. Long live Reeder..Version: 2024.9

Maybe It’s Me?I keep coming back and trying it, but maybe I’m just too used to the old Reeder? The thing that I can’t wrap my brain around is how the app deals with the Home Feed vs Folders Vs. Groups. It seems as if reading all the items in one section has no impact on the other sections. If I am all caught up to date in Home, then check in Feeds, the stories I just read in Home are unread in Feeds. If I have all my Apple Feeds in an Apple Folder, If I read them there, they are still unread in Home and Feeds, etc. I guess this is because it’s using a timeline vs read states?.Version: 2025.5

Like it, but it is sloooowI have been using Reeder for years, and I have been using this version since it was released. Unfortunately, I think I finally am going to have to switch back to the legacy version. It’s just too slow to refresh feeds. Sometimes I have to kill the app and try multiple times before it will refresh even RSS feeds (I assume the problem is that Bluesky or other feeds are hanging it up, and it won’t show anything until everything is downloaded). Typically I now have to wait minutes for my 50-or-so feeds to refresh..Version: 2025.4.1

Nice app but missing sortGreat app but I want to sort my feeds from old to new … and not the opposite ! Please add this feature ! Thanks.Version: 2025.9.1

SubcriptionAs a paid user of Reeder Classic, do I need to pay again to this new version?.Version: 2024.9.1

It seemed odd at first, but now I really like itThe first time I tried this Reeder it seemed very strange. I was very used to news readers based around the idea of you reading everything. I’d go through the groups every day, at least skimming through all the articles, getting all the unread counts to 0. After a while, that started to make reading my feeds seem like work, especially if I skipped a day or two and the unread count kept climbing. Reeder doesn’t work that way. Instead of tracking what you’ve read, it just keeps track of where you are in time. Whenever you open the app you can scroll up the list to see articles that have come in since the last time you looked at the app, or you can just jump to “now” and see what’s new. There’s no “read” or “unread” state for articles, just your current position in the list. It seems less organized, but it’s also kind of freeing. I’ve really come to enjoy how Reeder works..Version: 2025.9

Awesome!Great app, love it! Any plans for Threads support? Or X?.Version: 2026.6

A step forwardI was used to previous RSS readers, like the previous version of Reeder, so initially resisted this. But it’s so much better — no managing read/unread flags, etc. Plus incorporating YouTube, Reddit, etc. Excellent. Would be nice to have widgets on iOS/iPadOS, as with the previous version..Version: 2026.3

Good UIFabulous design, but it’s still hard to get used to the new way of consuming RSS in a permanent feed (you can’t delete or mark articles as "read"). Hope it will have a switch in the preferences one day to do it the old way. In-app video playback is awesome, unparalleled, (when it works, 9 times out of 10)..Version: 2025.9.1

Almost perfectI really love this app. So much that I do not even go to Youtube anymore. But it’s missing a few things for it to be finished. 1) A way to filter out video shorts + more filter options (dates, date ranges, etc…) 2) There is no way to filter with/without tags. If you want to see a list of items with no tags (or specific tags attached), you just cannot yet..Version: 2025.4.1

Best app everThe app I use the most everyday.Version: 2025.9.1

The only feed(s) you needReeder helps me get what I want from the web without being assaulted by the slop. Pro tip: limiting yourself to 10 feeds in the free tier is a GREAT way to wean yourself off an addiction to infinite scrolls. But paying for good things is how good things keep getting made 👍.Version: 2025.9.1

Minimalist and intentionalThe app helped me be more intentional in what media I’m consuming. The YT, podcast and Reddit integration makes this a multitool app that is worth your time and money. Thank you for making this app!.Version: 2025.4.1

Feature Request: Automatic Reader ViewAmazing App, Simple to use. Could you please add an option to automatically open Reader View when clicking on any feed. I used to miss alot of notifications in previous version of Reeder. I wish this one can notify me ASAP when new feed comes out..Version: 2024.9.3

Promising app but needs polishing.I really tried to like this new version of Reeder but the previous one was already the best rss reader out there. It would be great if it would be possible to make the sidebar post smaller with less text preview. Also the inline Youtube feature is pretty slow to load videos. Lastly I find the ways to save posts quite confusing between all the options available..Version: 2025.4.1

Comics feeds no longer workingThere is no way to contact the developer from the app (e.g. by email), so I post it here: Comics feeds are no longer working..Version: 2025.4

Nice but I still prefer Reeder ClassicI like how the new interface looks and I prefer how it handles Flickr feeds now. However, I find that Reeder Classic is much faster to use with a keyboard. I miss how smooth and intuitive it was to navigate the app with the arrow keys, and the ability to open the article in a browser with the “B” keyboard shortcut. I also miss the ability to assign keyboard shortcuts. I set up Option-M to import recipes into Mela for example..Version: 2024.12.1

All in one media aggregatorI was a user of the now classic Reeder and while there are definitely some things I miss like having local downloads of articles I think this app is fantastic and it has replaced Reeder Classic. I can get my podcasts, YouTube, Reddit, Mastodon, and RSS feeds all in one place. I never have to check any other apps. It’s all here and there’s PiP for videos too. Definitely recommend using it as a replacement for YouTube’s app and for podcasts too..Version: 2024.10

New app right after iOS 18 broke CJK readingIt's unfortunate timing, yes, but once iOS 18 came out the font is broken for CJK characters. It's a shame all the focus is on this new app.Version: 2024.10

GoodIt’s a good experience, I tried hard to use the new version, but there are things that don’t work as expected. It’s accumulating a lot of already-read material and taking up space in my iCloud. Moreover, it doesn’t make sense for those who primarily use the ‘Home’ list to not have the lists that feed the Home list automatically updated as well..Version: 2024.10

Great start to a new era!A welcome refresh to Reeder Classic (which I’ve been using for a few years). Text presentation has improved in this version, and the support for video is a fantastic addition. I subscribed for the year because I only see this app getting better..Version: 2024.9.3

Well thought out and beautifully designedThe newest version of Reeder is beautiful and lets you merge multiple feeds into a single one. The subscription pricing is incredibly reasonable too..Version: 2024.9
