I work in server 05 and 382 and I’ve been doing my own thing whatnot but if you really want to survive in this game you gotta talk and interact and really have a way with words unfortunately, there also tends to be some scammer like players that constantly spam text you in private messages saying they are part of the league and blah blah blah , but this game heavily revolves around how much you spend because your not gonna have any fun a month later of your not 5 million power and above and there’s jus not enough speed ups to get there that quick and the time it takes to gather 3 million resources is insane so the three main problems with this game is that a lot of players quit early due to the lack of events, the toxicity of some players ( OXO of 382) and how bad this game revolves around money.Popshot45Version: 1.10.101

Great gameMy dad and I have been downloading new recreations of the old games. He used to play like SimCity and Oregon Trail by the way if you’re reading this review check it out they’re the best games ever anyways I think it’s a really good game. AlrightPretty standard game that already exists in many incarnations. The wait times get longer and longer for no real benefit. The gameplay loop is just to get through all the menus that give you rewards. I wish there was a mode here where you could do combat puzzles or something that makes this game feel like a bonafide RTS. The point of RTS for me is being able to start over and do something completely different, try different things, be bound to my choices, fear my destruction and protect myself against it. Those elements may even exist here but there are some many things on screen begging for your attention and half of them cost money. I don’t want my town center to take weeks to be able to sustain a formidable force. I want to build things quickly, try lots of stratagems, work with different perks for different allegiances without being able to game all of them however I want. I was hoping that this IP would bring something cool to the mobile space but instead it has brought the existing mobile space to the IP, and I don’t think the IP or the mobile space are any better for it..SwaggersaurusVersion: 1.2.220

Interesting reincarnationAOE Mobile has some of the best graphics I’ve seen for a mobile game. Gathering resources and upgrading your citadel is as expected, with different civilizations to choose from, each with a citadel that looks different and offers a different combination of buffs. Beyond gathering and upgrading there’s a lot of events, tribes roaming around that are different levels for you to do defeat. Theres expeditions and exploration levels that grant rewards. There’s also a cycle of events, with even more if you’re in an alliance. Fishing mini-game you can play daily, forging gear at the smithy unlocks later in the game. The heroes concept is neat with a lot of them to make troops with. My biggest gripe is that in each server there are players willing to spend hundreds, or thousands on the game to upgrade and get ahead making them practically invincible and together they control the server. It’s promisingGood game but some things are annoying, I wish you could move around and rotate in your Citadel and get better angles of your area not just one view something similar to sims city would be great, I did notice that they pre made areas for a quarry or gold mine and I wish they did that for the lumber mills and I wish you could rotate buildings and put them how you want and the “congratulations to a mayor” is annoying I need a setting to turn that off cause I’m always having to delete it and it doesn’t go away on its own, borders that get removed when you place a building down is great but the boulders spawn back and ruin the aesthetics and hunting down resources is a pain in the neck I would like to see more resource spawns and I don’t mind paying money into a game I enjoy but I don’t need or want to see dollar signs everywhere in the game and better tutorials would be appreciated and make chatting in the game via keyboard more easier to use and better to look at Other than that Ive played the mobile game since its release and am still happy with it but I know it can and will get better!.Davidhamp10Version: 1.2.220

DOASo many games exist that are clones of this one. All AoEM has going for it is its name and I really hoped this game was more like the RTS versions. To summarize this game; you build a kingdom by building structures, you level the structures up each time consuming more resources and real life time or you can use time boosts to speed that up marginally. Armies are auto battled and consist of troops that level up from tier 1 to 7. You have heroes that level up and determine size of army. You join an alliance and battle other alliances for control over land and leaderboards. You do many different activities for rewards. And in the end, micro transactions for that classic pay to win feel. If you have played others in the genre, this one will be more of the same with a shiny fresh coat of paint. Tooo much pay to winThe game it’s genuinely fun and great but at the same time you realize really but REALLY fast that is too much PAY TO WIN, if you don’t invest a considerable amount of money you just gonna be frustrated all the time, it’s impossible to get the really good hero without money, for example Leónidas or Hua Mula just for 1$ okay but them for if you wanna level up be prepared for start spending money for real. A mean I know they need to get money of somewhere but hey be more flexible for the good of the game. Honestly great for being a f2p playerI’ve progressed pretty well being free to play. I got randomly thrown into a leader position for an entire 50 person now 100 person clan. WOW it has been like nothing I have experienced before. Love the strategy and diplomatic relations you have to make if you do not want to go to war. We are allied with one of the best empires on the sever and intend to stay that way. 5/5 even thou there is pay to win aspects but what phone game isn’t let’s be real. Honestly if you have thousands (literally thousands) to spend go for it because that is what it will take. It’s not AoE but it’s not badDon’t get this game expecting it to be the good ol Age of Empires you remember playing in PC. It’s really more like a CoC or something similar to that. And yes while maybe it’s a let down I don’t think it’s bad in that way. Great Game (Needs Early Game Updates)Overall the game is really fun, I started playing a year ago in November 2024, I started out a little confused since the game only explains the basic mechanics for the player’s personal growth. Since then they had added some new mechanics & features that help with the UI and more cross-server events that really make each week feel unique. For new players I would suggest doing your research on which server would suit your availability and play style as each have become notorious for certain aspects like power or diplomacy. On the competitive side of things it has serious P2W advantages for those who like to spend, which has 1. Created a large disadvantage for casual players who match against these types in events. And 2. Divided the chances of running into those people since migration events recruit them to “whale” servers. For me personally, I’ve played with the same group of players for over a year and have become very much a family and that’s the most engaging experience for a lot of us, the community and friends make every day an adventure. Honest ReviewI am very familiar with the desktop applications for this game and when I heard they came out with a mobile version I was definitely excited. As most early releases I would say there is always going to be patchwork. Like currently the game is laggy and not fluid but I’m sure it will become better as it ages. It’s unfairCollecting certain heroes is extremely difficult, the only way to get them is to spend a lot of money, there’s no way to earn it through gaming. They used to have this mini game called battle survivor and it was really fun. I spent a more time on it than looking for resources. For some reason it got removed and it’s not enjoyable anymore. I do love the heroes, almost all of them are historical figures and there are some I haven’t heard before, so it’s a bit educational. The community overall is very nice, haven’t met anyone nasty yet. $100,000 I Opine Is The Games Full CostWith purchasing all gear and levels with max packs costing $100 with each purchase and thousands of purchases needed to not pick each item. With 3(three) heroes per slot and 5 (five) slots and each hero has 4 (four) pieces of gear. And that’s just the hero’s and gear to level. This game is truly the pay to win a strategy. A thumbs up finally to those who want a Block Buster Box Set Win. I thought this game would be a 1-2 hour 6 player internet matching game where we go through ages like StarCraft but it’s just another run of the mill game that is out on the market. It’s not like AoE2This game is okay; and, it does have the (very)basic skeleton of AoE2. But, that’s where the similarities end. I played AoE2 a lot over the years and when I saw it was coming out as a mobile app I jumped right on it. Unfortunately, they have added so much stuff to it that, IMHO, it has lost some of its charm, especially trying to play solo. Those old game was set up so you could have up to seven AI players; and, it flowed very smoothly. That’s no longer the case here. There are untold number of tasks, quests, honey-do’s, etc, which frankly detract from the enjoyment. If you’ve never played AoE before, your take on this game will likely be different than this. Extremely Pay2Win and getting even worse!!!I’ve played this game since about 2 months or so from when it first released and since then the game has become excruciatingly pay to win with this latest update even more so then it was with the last few updates which is saying A LOT. The developers are consistently choosing to prioritize releasing more content for their Krakens to spend on then to provide a balanced and some what fair environment. I understand that games like these are designed to be P2W but if you start playing this game then I honestly would encourage you to not spend a dime unless you plan on being a kraken bc all of the developers choices will just diminish any progress you’re hoping your money will help you achieve. They lied to the community with this last update which released extremely slow to achieve new higher tier 8 and 9 units and claimed they were balancing the speed that krakens would unlock them so that it wouldn’t destabilize the current game then just two-ish weeks later started releasing more and more packs that led to krakens unlocking tier 8 very fast and effectively destroys any way for anyone to fight against the unless they also are a kraken with tier 8. And tier 9 which with all the packs the released is going to get unlocked sooner rather than later and will break the game even more. Play this game if you want but do not spend any money unless you’re okay with throwing it away… the game has become one big display of greed, imbalance, and mismanagement by the developers….FhsjcjdsiVersion: 1.9.101

The only reason I give it 2 stars is because of the adventure mini game is super fun. It’s like an arcade space shooter and you get random abilities and upgrades. Super fun, but the rest of the game is just collecting stuff after coming back and looting AFK in game resources like wood and gold etc. You have to”alliances” which are literally useless and people just send gifts back and forth and you can talk to people, set up a city and wait hours for stuff to build, and keep repeating every single day. Super repetitive and very mid. Wish they had more mini games and classic AOE game play at least a mink game version would have been nice. It is very addicting and I see how people can play it for hours without breaks. Keep looting the afk resources from workers, set up battles in the alliance campground, mini game, loot, keep checking for new soldier being spawned (every hour you collect and get power.) Lastly there is a pvp mode which is mostly just numbers and automated. For example 50,000 POWER army vs 51,200 power. Skip it for rewards. Constantly checking stores and check boxes for rewards. Before you know it hours pass by and all you did was loot stuff all day and press buttons. Very lame and huge time waster imo. If only they could add a real immersive classic mode or something. Whales only game.I downloaded this game the second it was available because I was a fan of the original AOE games. My first impression was that this game is just like ROK. I am sure it uses the same game engine. I decided to give it a shot anyway. I was on vacation and had time to really get into it. Plus with it being a new game, I hoped that the player field would be pretty even. I joined a large alliance and spent about $100 real money getting all of the essential packs to get my city going. With my vacation being a staycation, I had plenty of time to play. Let me tell you, that it is a game that gives you tons of small worthless rewards for clicking the red dots that pop up. Clicking red dots is the majority of the game play. After about ten days the whales had made themselves known and pretty much started wiping everyone out that did not spend thousands of dollars on the game. I mean my $100 troops couldn’t even damage theirs. If you want a strategy game, this isn’t it. There is really no strategy in the game. There are several chat groups though where players make racist, sexist and demeaning comments non stop towards other players. My suggestions is that if you don’t intend to spend hours upon hours clicking red dots and you do not intend to spend thousands of dollars to play, that you look elsewhere. This game is a flop. It was nice of the company to respond to my reply. I agree that there are different play styles, but there are really only 2 in this game, you are either a whale (as in thousands of dollars), or you are whale food. Not even close to the nostalgia of the original AoEI grew up as a kid playing pc rts games like AoE. It’s one of the best and was also a large piece of pioneering future rts games that have been some of the most addicting, fun, nostalgic games that I still love to play today. Sadly this app version remake is just another way developers try to sell hyperactive, money grabbing, pay to play, pieces of garbage. They understand there is a market for a nostalgic player base and this is just another version of a developer capitalizing on a title that is one of the best rts games in history. They don’t care about the original IP, they don’t care about the fans or player base, they only want your money. Just not worth itAt first the game seemed great! Until the credit card warriors. And pack loaders enter the picture. You know they are pack loading, because in less than a month they are 2-4 times bigger than anyone in the server, with almost ALL maxed hero’s. Unless there is some secret store no one but CC warriors get, the numbers don’t add up. So of course the smalls are ranked in with the bigs, the amount of land they get is unlimited for building, and if they don’t like you can destroy any level base they want. Unless you plan to max your credit cards .. if you are FTP or low pay or even moderate pay, is not worth it. They also allow people to report and block your chat, even if you don’t say anything wrong, but don’t tell you what is blocked. There are aspects created to trap you in an alliance for long periods of time. And the cost to protect yourself is crazy. Shields cost 3500 silver for a 24 hour one. Customer service never responds with anything but generic messages, unless it is to tell you, you need to join a stronger guild to compete. DO NOT - stress - DO NOT fall for it. Ptw hardcoreThe game is cool in regards to heros and strategy movement you can do if you can get it work half the time. I know the game is new so little bugs will be worked out and more events will be added overtime to make it less boring. Still feel like more could have been put into a story or something before releasing it. More heros as well since there are very few powerful hero options for ftp players because of silver restrictions. The pay to win side of this game is horrible. Suppose to have a strategy to it with unit counters but doesn’t matter if you have every hero and gear almost maxed with high tier soldiers. They take out your army even if you are a counter to them. I don’t mean they just win I mean take out as in they could have quarter of troops left and you come in with full unit counter and they still beat you with barely losing any units. Great if you PayThe honest truth, this is a great game if you have a fat wallet and dump a whole bunch of money into it. The developers care about one thing and one thing only, getting you to spend real money in game. Wasted potentialThe original game was so much fun, and I really wanted to like this version. The graphics are great - fresh but nostalgic. And the sound effects and music are on point. Unfortunately the gameplay makes this game unbearable. It literally requires zero thinking and zero strategy. Totally different game than the original. The developers get told by the community that they’re having difficulty playing free to enjoy the game but time and time again they succeed at letting those who pay in actual money to accelerate themselves into dominating a server. NOT the AoE I know….Really wanted to like this; really hoped for at least a game with similar gameplay as the AoE I grew up loving. TLDR; This is not it. The villagers serve little to no purpose, they don’t build your city, they barely collect any resources (somehow that’s the main responsibility of your heroes and army?), your resource collection buildings are limited to 2 max at least through the beginning of the castle age so half my villagers sit idle. You almost never assign them to collect resources in your city, fishing is some time limited minigame, and every upgrade of your houses only adds 1 to your villager capacity (good thing they’re next to useless). Also everything requires CONSTANT upgrades. HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of resources, and HOURS upon HOURS of (inactive) game time. They do give you a steady supply of upgrade time reduction, and lots of 1 and 10 thousand resource items, but it is unending upgrades. It’s only been a few days and I’m about done with it. You’re given a hero to begin but from that point on heroes are random or paid for, always have to lead troops, and on the main map to explore, until you’re days into the game, you’re limited to 3 groups of heroes with their troops to: collect resources, fight “tribes”, assist your Alliance allies, initiate battles with roving bands of enemies or on their cities, man territory towers, and complete exploration tasks. And they march slow as $@#%. There are aspects of the game I have had fun with, and I’m currently still playing it, but overall I think this was unfortunately a HUGE miss and I’ll probably be uninstalling here soon. You don’t get explore the map, you don’t get to build as many houses/buildings as you want, and you don’t get to build your walls wherever you want. AOE Legacy ruined by Pay to WinI have been playing AOE since the very beginning. On AOE Mobile, I currently have a level 16 TC and Advanced Archers.
