About Unedo: Spanish Games + Stories (Unedo LLC)

FROM REGGAETON TO CERVANTES:
THE WHOLE WORLD OF SPANISH, UNLOCKED.

You don't need another lesson on ordering coffee or asking how to go to the train station. You need a Spanish app that opens up your world: get the slang, dive deep into the cultures, plan your travels, and feel like you belong. Unedo gets you there, and it's actually fun.
Unedo is the daily language app for intermediate learners and up. No drills. No cringe AI dialogues. Just word puzzles, cultural stories, and real progress.

UNEDO ISN'T ANOTHER LANGUAGE APP. IT'S THE ONE YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS

Every day, you play short word puzzles in Spanish.
Each one unlocks a cultural Spark: a story about the real stuff people talk about.
Music everyone knows.
TV shows people reference all the time.
Food and places they love.
Slang, habits, traditions.

You're not memorizing lists. You're absorbing the language the way people actually use it.

The pace is intentional. One session a day, no pressure to catch up.

You're building the kind of knowledge that makes Spanish feel familiar.

As one user put it:
"IT'S CONTENT FOR NATIVE SPEAKERS, BUT WITH TRAINING WHEELS"

WHAT'S IN THE APP

- Fun word puzzles that train pattern recognition and contextual vocabulary
- Daily cultural stories from writers across Spain and Latin America
- Flashcards created automatically from everything you discover
- A personal dictionary that grows with you
- Audio on every story: read first, then listen

YOU'LL LOVE UNEDO IF YOU:

- already know the basics and want to go deeper
- are bored with repetitive apps and generic lessons
- care about culture as much as vocabulary
- want to understand Spanish as it's actually spoken
- are preparing for travel, work, or life in a Spanish-speaking country

"THE MOST IMPACTFUL SPANISH LEARNING APP I'VE EVER USED."

START A NEW ROUTINE

One that will quietly make a big difference in your Spanish.

Our reviews are full of people who didn’t think Spanish could feel like this again, and now look forward to a few minutes with it every day.

Unedo is ad-free. No noise, no gimmicks, just the good stuff. Built by a small, independent team and a network of writers around the world who are creating the language app they wish existed when they were learning themselves.

What's New in Unedo: Spanish Games + Stories (v2.3.1)

2.3.1: POSTCARD FROM PARIS

BOCA HAS YOUR BACK
When you pick the wrong answer in Today's Challenge, Boca now shares a bit more context on the correct one. A cultural insight, a conjugation breakdown, a vocab tip. So every mistake becomes a tiny lesson. This one is in beta, so not fully ready for prime time. But we wanted to get your thoughts so we can make this feature super helpful. Let us know what you think using the feedback tools throughout the app.

A BIT OF FINE-TUNING
A bunch of the Unedo team just met in Paris to dream up what's next. So while all that energy settles, we took the opportunity to tidy up. Smoother Folios, faster Spark loading, sharper feedback from Boca on Today's Challenge. Just making sure everything feels right.

Wonderful Language Learning Supplement

I literally never write reviews, but this app warrants it. Unedo is a balanced experience that avoids the pitfalls of typical gamification and includes meaningful learning opportunities. The sparks revealed after the games provide some cultural knowledge, chances to augment your vocabulary, and reinforcement to the games. The only thing that could make this experience better is allowing more exploration beyond the limited daily allotment (although, it’s worth noting this is likely by design because it’s actually a decent amount of material each day to keep you consistent but not overwhelmed). I truly hope the paid subscriptions do not make the app cost prohibitive for me. Users should understand that their Spanish should be at a relatively decent foundational level before they will be able to derive much benefit from the app.

Sad I didn’t download this sooner

Months ago got on the waitlist to be a beta tester but never heard back. A few weeks ago I realized the app had been officially released and I’ve been loving it ever since! That said, I don’t think I’m going to sign up for the subscription just yet. It’s a little pricey (but that makes sense for no ads and a small crew trying to make it on their own), and I like to know exactly what I’m buying. There are a lot of new features coming, but without a preview of them, I don’t know if they’re worth it. One thing I’d absolutely love to see is dialogues. No, not talking to an AI chat bot, but something like the current sparks but narrated through characters having a conversation. It’s a struggle to find bite-sized intermediate/advanced conversations in Spanish. Everything is either beginner textbook stuff or native speakers. And native speaker content where people actually talk to each other is always long form, tv shows and podcasts, that I don’t always have time for and are harder to focus on because so much is happening. I’d drop the money immediately if Unedo could fill in this gap.

NeurosickgirlVersion: 2.2.1
Perfecto!

I speak Spanish as my second language. I consider myself fluent, have been speaking for over 20 years, use it regularly at work, and am certified as an interpreter. But there’s still no end of vocabulary to learn and no end to improving your fluency. This is the PERFECT app for intermediate to advanced speakers who need to keep from getting rusty, acquire new vocabulary, and boost their reading comprehension. This was SO needed and fills a gap that other language learning apps left behind. 2 short articles and 3 games per day is the perfect amount to get good practice in without feeling overwhelmed, and the articles are at a level that I can easily understand while still encountering one or two new-to-me words every time, and the cultural information is all new and interesting. Wish I could give more than five stars!

LydiamaycroweVersion: 2.0.7
Best app for learning Spanish

I never leave app reviews, but I’m genuinely so happy that this app was created and I’m going to tell everyone I know about it. I saw it on an ad, I’m only using the free version and I think it’s honestly very helpful even without subscribing, but I’m absolutely switching my subscription to this app once my duolingo subscription ends. I love that I learn about the culture while learning the language and also learn some more colloquial phrases and terms that you wouldn’t learn on a traditional language app. I read every exercise out loud to practice speaking. My only hope is that there will be a speaking practice option added at some point, along with greater variety of cultures covered…. But I’m obsessed!! I love this app.

SimpleFairVersion: 2.2.2
Bravo y gracias

I literally never leave written reviews on apps, I just give good stars to help out, but this is truly one of the best language apps I’ve ever come across. The effortless mix of language practice and culture makes it fun and so relevant, I think it’s a way to show respect to the language you’re learning, and it’s a way to feature different authors. I got more out of these 3 daily games than I’ve ever gotten on another language app. I can’t wait to see the success of your app grow because there’s no way it won’t remain something amazing. I love language learning in general, but Spanish is my original love and the first I hope to reach full fluency at, and this app can definitely help you work on a goal like that! Thank you!

Culture + Language = Magic ✨

I can't believe how much I love the Unedo app. For me, the biggest joy of learning another language is experiencing its culture. But I've never found a resource that combines the two. Typically, there are two types of resources: some for learning language, others for learning culture. It’s been a pain point for me. But now there’s Unedo! I've fallen in love. Every day I can practice my Spanish and, at the same time, learn something fascinating about Hispanic cultures. There are even links to videos to watch and resources to explore. For example, today I just finished a documentary about the life of Chavela Vargas! Before this, I had no idea she even existed. My life is richer. Seriously, this app is a dream come true, and I'm incredibly grateful.

ZionsanchezVersion: 2.0.11
Fantastic for intermediate learners!

Awesome app! Love the word games and the cultural nuggets! The stories are interesting - similar to the Duolingo podcast - but shorter and not interrupted by English which is better for my level. I usually listen once or twice and then listen again while reading along. The memory test at the end is useful to check comprehension. My only wish/improvement request is if you could click & copy any word on the page so that you can paste it into translate app if you don’t know it… although the app highlights/provides definitions for some new vocabulary I often find there’s a few words that they don’t define that I’m unfamiliar with.

Bloop146Version: 2.0.12
Amazing!

This is just what I’ve been looking for forever. I’m an advanced Spanish student and it’s hard to truly find apps that help me. I just wish there were flash cards with the saved words as well as being able to learn more then just the two lessons. I also wish the audio had a ten second rewind and fast forward option. I understand that it’s still in development and I am so grateful to be able to use this great app. I just love go study and I can absorb a lot of information. It’s definitely a feature I’d being willing to pay for in the future to have more to learn then two short stories. That’s the biggest drawback for me. I can study all day and it’s no big deal for me. But I still cannot complain. It’s great. Thank you!

BrirrrriVersion: 2.0.3
Love this app BUT

Love this app - it is my favorite Spanish learning app that I have ever tried. I’m intermediate-advanced and actually felt progress with daily use from the time I discovered the app to the end of my 20 day streak… when the upgrade was launched. I am heartbroken that it’s going from free to a paid subscription; what you’re allowed access to without paying is minimal compared to before. I’m so torn because I can see the love that is put into this app and therefore want its creators to be compensated fairly, but right now I’m struggling with the sudden change to Spotify-equivalent prices. :( Would still recommend thus the 5 star review.

FiglearnsspanishVersion: 2.2
Love this App!

I’ve been telling everyone I know who is learning or already speaks Spanish to try this! It’s perfect for someone who already knows Spanish to improve their vocabulary, but also it’s fun puzzles and very interesting to learn about the cultural things from across the Spanish speaking world. I’ve learned so much and read articles about things I already knew about but they are still very interesting and informative. It’s helped me find movies in Spanish, books to read, and places to travel! The Sparks (articles) are written well, and can be read or listened to. It does cost but it’s totally worth it to me!

VdfhjdvbVersion: 2.2.6
Perfect for the intermediate slump

I’ve been learning Spanish for about a year thru the ALG method and am nearing a point where learning new words is a bit harder because they don’t come up as often and reading is just out of reach because I have to stop to look up words a bit too often. The articles on this app are both interesting and just challenging enough to learn a few new words, plus more challenging words are highlighted so you can easily click on them and read the definitions in spanish or english. Really really great app idea!! I also really appreciate they have real writers instead of using AI <3 although I really wish they didn’t use AI for the photos.

Nicky429Version: 2.2.2
One of the Best!

I’ve never written a review of an app before. But this one deserves it. The focus of this app is to help Spanish learner via immersion activities. Two new short, interesting, and relevant stories are told each day, along with two puzzles and a quiz. Collectively, this 15 minute time commitment is a perfect compliment to your Spanish learning activities. I use this everyday, alongside Duolingo, and my understanding and speed of reading has improved greatly. This will continue to be a part of my daily routine! PS - the developers really welcome thoughts and feedback. And better yet, the respond and listen!

ChipFallawVersion: 2.2.2
My dream Spanish app

I've never written an app review before, but I am so excited about Unedo!! I teach elementary in Spanish and English at a school that is about 95% Hispanic. As a non-native speaker (and one of the only non Latinos at my school) I am always trying to A) learn more colloquialisms and B) deepen my cultural understanding. Other language-learning apps are too beginner-oriented to be helpful, but now I can use this to learn more expressions, refresh and reinforce my vocabulary, and learn fascinating cultural tidbits about Latin America and Spain. I genuinely am so thrilled this app exists and I can use it every day!! Thank you to the developers and creators!!

Addicted

I literally got this app 2 days ago but felt so compelled to give it a review already. I LOVE this. I am an A2/B1 Spanish learner and am so sick of Duolingo. I am minoring in Spanish in college and wanted something to supplement that. I am so impressed so far. There is reading, listening, and comprehension-based learning, all tied to broadening cultural horizons by offering stories across various Spanish speaking countries. The only thing I wish was that there was a speaking part of this too to truly tie in all aspects of learning a language (reading, listening, writing, speaking) but this is the best thing I’ve found so far.

Heinz DolphinVersion: 2.0.9
Perfect for maintaining advanced vocabulary

Finally an app for intermediate-to-advanced speakers! As someone who has practiced Spanish for over 2 decades, I have been disappointed with the very beginner-level Spanish learning apps. My Spanish reading level is relatively advanced yet rusty so I need sophisticated & challenging material to get back to my high fluency. This is one of the only apps I’ve found that really challenges me and that I’m eager to return to. It’s the closest thing to practicing college-level spanish reading and vocabulary that I’ve found in the app store.

Renep1Version: 2.1.2
An Amazing App for Intermediate+ Learners

I am so glad I found this app! I take two hours of Spanish tutoring every week, read children/teen books in Spanish, and watch a lot of TV shows in Spanish. Duolingo has been part of my daily routine, but after four years of using it, I really needed something more. Unedo is continually being improved, and customer support is great! You’ll need to have already learned a bit of Spanish to enjoy using this app, and I’m enjoying the challenge very much. Great job Unedo!

OelkesmVersion: 2.2.3
Amazing app for intermediate students

There are so few apps on the market that are for the intermediate student of a language. When you get to the point that you can read a passage, it tends to be very simple and not very interesting. I absolutely love this app because it does a great job of combining simple text with intriguing stories. I am actually learning something in my target language! It has helped me tremendously in pushing past the plateau I have experienced in intermediate learning. I cannot say enough good things about Unedo.

Leslie Ann AlfaroVersion: 2.0.12
Language and Culture

My favorite app for practicing Spanish, no flash cards or quizzes, I’m loving the daily stories so much. The best part is getting culture along with the language, everyday I’m surprised and excited to see what I’ll learn about today. All the stories are written by real people, and thank god! I’m so tired of AI. It all feels connected and is teaching me about things I’d never have come across otherwise. Pop culture, food culture, architecture, music, they’ve got it all! With videos too! Obsessed, I play it everyday

Urbsi3Version: 2.1.3
Excellent app for Spanish language and culture!

I am an intermediate/advanced Spanish speaker but had fallen out of practice for several years. This app got me back into it! I love that the lessons take just 5-10 minutes a day so they are a manageable part of my daily routine. The games are fun and the cultural lessons are very fresh (i.e. I learned about Rosalia’s new album before everyone started taking about it!) My renewed interest in Spanish, thanks to this app, has also renewed my interest in travel to the Spanish-speaking world!

Horse501Version: 2.1.3
Fantastic app

I truly love this app! I am so grateful I saw an ad for this and decided to try it. The stories are so interesting and are great if you have an intermediate level (B1-B2) of Spanish. I love the mix of games and stories where I learn about other Spanish-speaking cultures. It’s great that you can read the stories and/or listen to them, plus you can highlight select new words and it will be saved in a study list. I’ve been wanting something like this for a while and I highly recommend it.

AswewereVersion: 2.2.2
Great practice for intermediate learners!

Unedo is just what I had been looking for, word puzzles in Spanish, with the added bonus of fascinating articles about Spanish and Latin American culture. The articles have become my favorite feature; they are well written, interesting, and informative. You can listen to them or read them ( I do both) and new vocabulary is linked to definitions which you can tap and see immediately. It is so well designed. I highly recommend this app!

Duke_AstarothVersion: 2.0.6
Too much about Spain

This app is great. Im learning vocabulary, it meets me at my intermediate level, and the games are fun. Ive never paid for an app before. But why is there an article a day about Spain? Who cares about Spain? Who is learning Spanish to learn more about the colonizer? I want to know Spanish better for my travels in Latin America and to be a better neighbor to the immigrants in my community. Nobody is from Spain. There are dozens of other countries with rich histories and cultures that lessons could focus on. I am less eager to use the app when all the articles are about the same country.

Too much SpainVersion: 2.2.1
Fun games, great cultural content

I saw an ad for Unedo on social media and decided to give it a shot. I have to say, I really love it and I look forward to doing it every day. There is SO much in the design of it that is different and just really smart. Unedo is for intermediate to advanced learners; you're not going to learn how to order coffee. Instead you get daily doses of brief, engaging spoken and written input with a short quiz on the content. For me, it was exactly what I needed without knowing it! Highly recommended.

Big gaganVersion: 2.1.1
Great daily review

Unedo provides a short daily review where I can practice my oral comprehension skills and my reading skills. The puzzles are entertaining and the cultural insights are really interesting. Although I’ve been learning Spanish for years, and have a fairly high level of fluency, I still learn something new each day with Unedo and love the opportunity to practice. I find this more stimulating than Duolingo.

BilliyBoy54Version: 2.0.6
New part of my daily routine

This app is so helpful for Spanish reading comprehension and for learning new vocabulary. I love being able to listen to the articles, and seeing new words I don’t know in context. I especially love learning little tidbits about the culture and history of various Spanish-speaking countries. Fantastic job on building something so well made.

ArtlitloveVersion: 2.1.3
Interesting approach to Spanish/Culture

The app uses stories that teach about culture while also teaching you the language. It use games to test how well you comprehended the passage you read/heard for pronunciation. The lessons are interesting and very challenging. Don’t look to be bored as you will encounter words you may have never heard before, even with some prior knowledge. Also allows you to save words that you want to remember. Good app recommended

TunesmithVersion: 2.0.7
Really effective

Hands down the most useful app for a dose of more advanced Spanish. The stories have interesting content and the option to listen and/or read makes it really easy to use. Glad they kept the key features free while adding some extras to earn a bit of money off of their effort.

Superb Learning Tool!

I’m so grateful to have found Unedo which is providing me optimal challenges vocabulary-wise in addition to fascinating well-written essays about Hispanic culture and history. As a Spanish teacher, I’m looking forward to using some of these essays as models for student writing as they master organizational and transitional skills. The puzzles and connections games are fun too!

MellowflyVersion: 2.2.7
Better than its competitors

Unedo has compelling content, several levels including advanced, and combines vocabulary with culture and quizzes. Also, it keeps track of my troublesome words so I can practice them when I have a few minutes. I look forward to it every day and recommend it highly.

DPauldingVersion: 2.0.11
Fun and convenient

Great way for me to keep up my Spanish. Lots of diverse interesting content, but the games are an easy entry for me so I don’t get intimidated. App updates seem frequent and transparent. I like that the audio track plays over the Spark text page now so I have the option to scroll and read along if I want to.

IPhoneofiphonesVersion: 2.2.1
The perfect Spanish companion for advanced learners

Unedo is exactly what I was looking for. A smart, engaging app that doesn’t treat you like a beginner. The games are fun but genuinely useful, and the cultural insights make the experience feel rich and relevant. For anyone with a solid base in Spanish who wants to refine their understanding, sound more natural, and deepen their cultural knowledge. I’m seriously impressed. Highly recommend!

Milca78Version: 2.0.3
Just what I needed

I was feeling stuck in a rut, not really making progress, but since I found Unedo app, I am hooked on the games and educational stories. I feel like I’m advancing in my Spanish again. It’s a great way to keep building vocabulary too. I highly recommend. (note- not designed for beginners).

Fantástico

Super fun and engaging app that’s helping push my Spanish skills after feeling like I’ve hit a plateau in the past couple years. Takes only a few minutes a day and I can already tell I’m being challenged in a way that actually helps me learn. Excited to see what’s coming next!

What I’ve been needing!

I monered in Hispanic studies back in college, but these days really have no Spanish in my environment so I’ve lost a lot of my skills. Unedo is the perfect app that actually engages me and starts to refresh my brain with the language. As an intermediate/conversational speaker. I find this hits accessible and educational all in one. Great app! 💜

NYT Games went to LATAM

It’s like the Spanish version of NYT Games. I love word games and improving my Spanish fluency. It’s great that you get an appropriately paced mini lesson after each. I do wish there were more than 3 activities but it’s only my first day; I will update if there are more. I’d really like to see some themed sopa de letras y crucigramas.

RC-MindblownVersion: 2.0.11
A worthwhile fun app!

The stories are so timely that sometimes they are ahead of the news, like the President of Peru (the Rolodex scandal) being ousted. I look forward to doing this app everyday & it’s been 2 months of pleasure! I especially enjoyed the one about Natalia Lafourcade! I love it when videos are included.

Cool App, But

I got to use this app for about three minutes. But I decided that I needed to take a step down in the difficulty I set. But, seeing no option to change, I just deleted my account. Now, when I go to make a new one, the app does not go past the opening screen. Can this be fixed? I would love to use the app more.

Seriously Amazing

I love how easy this app is to use. It’s fun, and I actually feel like I’m improving my Spanish and Hispanic/Latin culture. The articles are interesting and good length, so I don’t get overwhelmed, same with the flashcards. I think having the audio is so important to hear pronunciation.

Awesome language companion

This app is not Duolingo or Babbel and it isn’t pretending to be. Unedo is entirely other, serving as an extension to some other Spanish instruction. Unedo connects language and culture in an accessible way. I’ve found that it works particularly well in tandem with the Language Transfer podcast series!

Unedo: Spanish Games + Stories Negative Reviews and Ratings

Flawed

Excellent little three minute audio essays about interesting topics are presented with precise diction which makes this much easier to understand than other apps I have used. However, to hear each one you must complete two games: one is a silly and useless guessing game based on “wheel of Fortune”; the other requires knowing obscure vocabulary. The nice audio clips appeared daily, but there is no obvious way to go back and review them, and if you do not do the silly games on the day they are offered, there is no apparent way to go back and find these audio clips you have paid for. The audio clips are the only things of value. Finally “Smart Review”, whatever that may be, is forever “coming soon.”

QawsedefVersion: 2.2.6
AI art is really off-putting

The app seems like something I genuinely want but the AI art is so ugly that it I end up closing the app almost immediately. I’m glad I got the free trial. It’s weird how ai art looks so cheap and gross and how quick this phenomenon happened. Maybe it isn’t even ai but it definitely has that “gross” quality to it that’s hard to describe. A half-assed doodle on ms paint would feel a thousand times better than what they are going with here.

Phenomenal educative app.. quality diminishes inmensely with AI voices

It’s crazy how the immersion this app immediately goes away once I hear the AI voices in the stories, because you can tell how much love they put into everything else. As a Spanish speaker already it makes me not wanna use it
