- Saves EXIF and GPS data in photos
This app is designed to simulate the cinematic qualities of the XPAN, including emulation of 8 distinct film stocks that are often paired with this camera:
NIGHT MODE
Based on the Cinestill 800T film character with its moody teal cast and signature "halation" (red halos) around bright spots in the image.
BALANCED MODE
Inspired by Vision3 250D film stock, with its versatile personality and typical Hollywood-style color and contrast curves.
DAYLIGHT MODE
Based on the popular Portra 400 film; soft and warm hues and moderate contrast profile. Great for skin tones and dreamy landscapes.
GRITTY MODE
Inspired by the Lomography Metropolis film, which adds a "bleached" look that is reminiscent of gritty 90s movies.
BLACK & WHITE MODES
Following the characteristics black & white films, one mode offers a punchy and contrasty B&W style, while the other is soft and dreamy.
NEON NIGHT (NEW)
Enhances bright spots in night photos and adds vibrant, saturated glows for a "cyberpunk" vibe
ETHEREAL (NEW)
Classic soft focus mode, without the need to put grease on your lens!
XP4N is consciously made to be the ultimate one-trick-pony. A point and shoot camera with only a single button: the shutter button. The internal image processing engine does the rest, based on your preferred film mode setting. (so don't expect deep camera controls... ;-).
The resulting images are carefully tuned to have the pleasant silky quality of film and to get away from the oversharpened, hyper-punchy look typical of today's digital cameras.
XP4N App Comments & Reviews
XP4N Positive Reviews
My New Favorite iPhone Camera AppI honestly didn’t think I needed another camera app. Most of the time I’m fine with the default app. Many of the camera apps I have are bloated with too many features, controls, in-app purchases, etc. This X4PN app is different. It’s no-nonsense and gives you just enough features, with beautiful film emulations, and isn’t bloated with features and settings you’ll likely never use. X4PN makes beautiful images and puts the focus back on composition and not on tweaking app settings. Simply put, X4PN makes iPhone photography fun again!.Version: 1.0.6
Worthy Effort, and Much AppreciatedI most definitely like this app, however it still lacks some things that I hope the developer is working to add. The biggest thing to me is to add an option for NOT applying a film simulation. Yes, I know we can have it save an unprocessed image, but I’d rather have the option to turn off the film simulations and not save two images per shot. It would also be nice to have some additional options for black and white, like color filters, and NOT force us to use film simulations. And lastly, perhaps most important, please give us a preview of the image in the viewfinder! If I’m shooting B/W, it’d be nice to see the preview in B/W. In any case, thanks for creating this app. I love the wide angle format, and to be able to do it right on my phone is HUGE to me!!!!.Version: 1.0.12
Does what it does very wellXP4N is built to emulate a panoramic film camera and it does this very well, including the simulation of classic film types. A recent update added a couple of more film siulations and made accessing the settings a little more transparent. The app works best using the main iPhone camera lens. the ultrawide and tele phone lenses produce very small files while the main leans produces a 24MP file. The app cannot produce a 48MP main lens file because of cropping. It should be noted that this is an analog camera emulation. It does not produce the type of pano found in the iPhone native camera where you pan to produce an ultrawide pano. That said, this app does what it's supposed to do and does it well..Version:
Awesome single-click camI haven’t used an app like this in years - I dig the simplicity. Looking forward to using this on my upcoming trip. Maybe a little help for us lefties? If I hold the phone like I usually do for Camera with this app, the picture is upside down, and shutter button moves the right instead of left. Plus if I could use the volume button as a shutter… 🤌🏻.Version: 1.0.1
A simply lovely cameraA simple camera without the bells and whistles in the best possible way .. lovely photos, a pleasure to use .. glad it’s here..Version: 1.0.3
Initial feedback iPhone 15Pro MaxI look forward to trying this after just downloading it. I like the simplicity of it, however the most confusing thing is how to get out of the app after taking the photo?.Version: 1.0.2
MehSimple interface makes it easy to take a “classic” style pano. However, the app only produces a 6mp jpeg on an iPhone 15 Pro which is basically useless for anything other than a lackluster social media post. I’d say the app is just about worth the current 99 cent price..Version: 1.0.3
NeatI think balanced looks the best. Definitely gives off an anamorphic feel. Definitely looks better than a standard iPhone photo. However, I’ve enabled the 48MP camera and XP4N will still only shoot in 24MP..Version: 1.0.2
Pano without the pivotOwned an Hasselblad XPan back in the day and loved the aspect ratio. Great to see it emulated here. Great first effort however if the Developer can add the following features in future releases: - add location data - allow various cameras to be selected (if available) - enable volume for alternate shutter - allow adjustable features found only in Settings to be selected within the app (wide lens preferred vs 48mp camera) to quickly toggle between features instead of leaving app..Version: 1.0.2
This App Is Fun!Love it. Simple idea. The filter with the halation effect is sick. Thank you for not making it a subscription. 10/10.Version: 1.0.12
Old school goodGood photos, good price no tracking, wadda you waiting for?.Version: 1.0.12
Extremely high value for moneyI bought this app on a whim. Two weeks later, I’m on vacation in Rome. This app is delivering so much value, it’s almost painful. Hands down, the best niche photo app I’ve ever used. Skylines? Awesome. Street scenes straight out of film noir? So no more. Random wide angle shots you never would have considered before? Of course. My vote for app of the year in photography and probably everything else..Version: 1.0.12
Absolutely love itI’m a professional photographer. I shoot almost daily, kinda lost the passion for photography in terms of just go out and click pics on the street… This app made me fall in love with photography yet again. I can’t recommend it enough. Latest updates are amazing! I tip my hat to you.Version: 1.0.8
Great!A five star review if we can switch lenses directly in the app, like for the film simulation. Good rendering of the old xpan view!.Version: 1.0.2
