Great models, lackluster appFirstly, I’m aware that Deepseek focuses more on the backend experience such as the models themselves more than the frontend experience. I have no problem with a simple app/website. However this app is simple but hardly functional. It has an extremely dated look at this point and really needs some UI/UX love. Simple things like opening TTS lags out all the time and camera OCR is slow. There are also major security problems that have been found. I know Deepseek is a Chinese lab but I don’t have Chinaphobia. I like AI if the model is good regardless where it comes from. Which is exactly one of 2 saving graces for this app and Deepseek as a whole. The current model and models that get released are great. Secondly, they are FREE. No otherI have been using this since I first heard about it no charge unlike the euro ones that do charge or do not charge and deliver horrid results. But this one delivers usually, almost always I find it hard to catch in a mistake unlike the euro ones that do nit charge and are off base so often it wastes a lot of time, Deep does an excellent job of helping with simple and sine very complex information searches some at least somewhat critical. Its results help often, often a whole lot. It’s just an app but an extremely useful one to me helped solve some serious medical issues. The New York Times radio show The Daily recently ran a show on the ways the euro and Chinese AI models differ it seems the Chinese model is for service to the general population to help them perform everyday tasks with hire ease where the western models are strictly for profit a major philosophical difference and one that really counts if you are an ordinary user on an ordinary budget. Best AI model I useI downloaded multiple AI chatbots. This one isn’t just a “yes man.” It has provided me with solutions and insights. It has helped me study and learn math. It even helps me out so I don’t look like a fool in the comment section on social media when talking about historic laws. I love using it for Bible study too as it can draw sources from multiple points in the Bible and even gives me external and historical references. Got rid of GPT subscriptionIt makes me flashcards from my professors PowerPoints for exam prep. Way better than GPT did. I used GPT 4o and o1 for the flash cards. Constantly had to babysit it and it was frustrating. Refined prompts from a year ago didn’t work anymore. Told Deep Seek r1 what to do and it did it on the first try. Accuracy of informationI’ve only been using it for two days however to me, it seems like the actual receive the information being given when you ask a question seems to be a lot higher than other similar apps. Please bring back the story writing before updateThe new version of deepseek seemed to prioritise quantity over quality. In the old version, the AI often ends with 5k words per message. Short but good! Now, it can exceed to 10k words but it is just.. not it. Low quality story, too many jumps, repetitive and awkward moments.
