Good but needs widgets in free versionThe thought process behind this app is good and helpful. But putting quick access widgets behind a paywall makes it a little pointless. For most people with a phone addiction or difficulty with doomscrolling, myself included, having to open Sociallite separately from Instagram creates an unnecessary bump in the road that will make it more inconvenient and therefore more difficult for people to actually take the step toward using this tool. If even the widgets were behind a cheaper one-time purchase it would be a thousand times more reasonable than a subscription. Fulfills its functionThe app does exactly what it’s meant to do, which is to prevent you from scrolling reels that aren’t sent from people you know. However, I wouldn’t say it’s a practical substitution for Instagram itself due to its limited features. You can’t receive notifications and you need to constantly refresh the page to see updated messages from people. You also can’t send videos or film them since it’s basically just the web app version of Instagram. Adding these changes will make the experience feel more seamless and dynamic, but as of now there is some friction in using SocialLite with limited features that may be non-negotiable for some people such as myself. Great potential!I saw this app on Instagram and (ironically) it was exactly what I’m looking for; a way to continue using Insta/Facebook only to connect with the friends and family I choose to interact with (so like…before all the platforms were ruled entirely by ads and algorithms forcing us to doomscroll hours on end just to see what we actually want to see). The app is pretty glitchy still, but I see the potential and I want to be one of the ones to see it reach its goals! Facebook doesn’t work for me at all on the app, insta does but it’s glitchy (ex. can’t read comments on a post without it forcing you back to the top of your feed every time). Great idea, but it needs some workGreat concept, but the only way this works as if you open Instagram through the app. So you still have full access to reels through the actual Instagram app. It also doesn’t allow you to use the search function, which is still pretty important if you want to follow someone new. They make you go through a long 30-page intro every time you try to open the app so it’s literally impossible to access features, and most of them are behind a paywall anyway.
