Elevate - Brain Training Games Positive Reviews
Just do it. I can hardly believe how much it has helped.Okay, let me give you a little bit of background… I was so concerned I was developing dementia that my neurologist sent me to a neuropsychologist for cognition testing. I was increasingly having difficulty with remembering things, stumbling over my words, not being able to put things together mentally, and so on and so forth. During our consultation, I mentioned to the doctor that I like doing puzzles, and she suggested a few apps for me to check out, Elevate being one of them. My test results showed no signs of dementia (Thank God!!) but is appears something has “gone in and shuffled the files in my filing cabinet so I have trouble locating the information”. I have been using Elevate and a couple of other “brain training” apps for about a year and a half now, and can honestly say - as in my title - I can hardly believe how much it has helped me. I picked up the others because although Elevate does a great job with memory, linguistics and math, I wanted a bit more variety in the types of “puzzles” I was doing, to include logic, spatial awareness and other things. Elevate is - at least in my opinion - 100% worth the price but you DO have to put in the effort. My memory HAS gotten better, I am thinking more clearly, and I am astonished at how much just a few minutes a day has helped me. I know I probably sound like a paid advertisement, but this has been my actual experience. If you feel you need this type of app, Just Do It. It’s worth the price of admission..Version: 5.196.0
Be Careful with Billing (Updated)I used this app back in 2018 to help study for my GED tests. It was extremely helpful, however I stuck to the free version. If this was all this review was about, it would be much more positive. Years later I am getting informed via email that if I don’t cancel my subscription (which I never started) I’m getting charged for it within a couple of days. No incoming charge has been shown on my apple subscription list, and when I log in to the app itself, it’s the free version. Reading through reviews I see that this is a common issue. It’s extremely disappointing because the app itself is effective, but there is no reason to be charging customers that are NOT getting premium services. I am hoping that this email is an error, however if I get charged for this while having a free membership, I will certainly dispute it. The amount of people that have been wrongfully charged is not okay. Developers, please try to fix this issue. You have a beautiful app that helps with learning and keeping the mind sharp. Please fix this issue where the game is charging everyone. Thank you, have a good day. EDIT: Shortly after I sent this in, I got an email from someone on the marketing team saying I would not be charged. I love the app itself, and given the very speedy manner in which they contacted me to resolve the issue, I am changing this review to five stars. If I ever need any academic help in the future, I am much more likely to use this again and consider the full version. A big thank you to the team for handling this so quickly..Version: 5.64.0
Activities are decently generalized so as to be modular and highly applicable.Elevate enhances cognitive abilities through generalized games targeting mathematics, memory, and language, and more, promoting the use of skills that are applicable to real-world problem-solving scenarios. The sleek, intuitive design with abstract visuals ensures an engaging, user-friendly experience, maximizing learning potential while not compromising professionalism. It is simple and clean. Some of the reading and mathematics sections focus on logic-based performance, building universally applicable skills. A valuable tool for developing mental sharpness and competency across essential cognitive domains. I have the ~$20 a year deal and at that price point it is excellent. There are some concerns as well as space for even more features.C he presence of crosswords on the main page aren’t conducive towards a focus on generalized cognitive performance. Crosswords aren’t heavily backed by scientific research toward maximizing general cognitive abilities. There is no generalized visual spatial search, and the presence of random words and letters does not require reasoning. It lacks abstraction and generalization. There is no need for the update to place this at the forefront focus of the page. Overall, this is a useful tool to keep the brain on a course of maximum informational processing productivity. Not the only one to use, though, this one is particularly effective..Version: 5.137.0
Sooo close to perfectI really enjoy Elevate. It’s one part of my daily brain workout routine and has been for a while. It’s sooo close to perfect. The problems? How gains in level are determined. It really makes little sense. High score? Even at a tough difficulty level? You might only jump 2 levels instead of 4 or 5. Sometimes there is no gain in level, even for doing an “Excellent” job. And what qualifies as a “speedy answer” is not at all tied to the difficulty level or how long it might take to read something. It’s like someone randomly decided it’s x amount of seconds, no matter if you’re on level 100 or level 400, whether a potential problem is highlighted or not (they’re highlighted until you’ve reached “a high difficulty level,” but when they’re no longer highlighted, how long you have to answer and it’s accepted as a “speedy answer” is no different than how long you have when they are highlighted). I’m at Master level (the highest level) on everything except Memory (I often skip those games if I haven’t taken my adderall because I just can’t focus well enough for them lol). Overall, Elevate is a fantastic app and well worth the money to open/unlock the full game, but how level gains and speedy answers are determined should be addressed. If that ever happens, it’ll be a 5-star game, no doubt. Even still, if you’re looking for some brain exercise, you should consider this app. Even the free version is good (though the paid version is great). Fix the issues and it’ll be excellent. (See what I did there, app creators?).Version: 5.95.0
Great unless you have visual or motor impairmentsUPDATE: They have added Zen mode which removes the timer! This is a huge improvement for me as I have a hard time reading the information due to eye problems. IThe lack of a timer doesn’t take away from the score either which is great! You can still play the version with the timer if you like. But it also used to stress me out which made it hard to focus. Really great job! —————- Firstly, this app is preatty awesome. As a person who enjoys playing video games, this series of mini-games is fun and they really do train your brain and keep you thinking. I look forward to playing these every morning. All that being said, there are some issues. I am legally blind, and that makes it hard for me to play some of them because it takes me time to zoom in and read what is being shown on screen. Because of this, I often have to retry some games multiple times and the game misjudges my actual skill level due to my eye sight making it a bit harder to read what’s there. Likewise, I can see someone who has problems making certain gestures on the screen having some issues as some games require you to do quick motions in rapid succession. I would be more than happy to aid in accessibility features for this app as I think it is something that everyone can benefit from..Version: 5.180.0
Brain training that actually helpsBrain training apps can be questionable at times. Some are simple collections of brain twister games to try and help you memorize patterns on a grid, or pick the red word that actually reads blue... But what I appreciate about Elevate is that it challenges you with real world problems. Practice your ability to calculate percentages. It’ll come in handy next time you’re calculating your dinner tip, or figuring out how much you’ll save during a clothing sale. Elevate helps your to improve your writing skills and comprehension. Get better at spotting typos in your emails and texts. Quickly skim messages while reliably gathering what’s being communicated. There are so many games provided by Elevate which challenge your real-world skills, and push you to improve in areas that affect your day to day. There are free features, but thank goodness I bought a lifetime membership early on in Elevate’s life. I couldn’t have guessed I’d still love the app so many years later. If you want to get better at day to day tasks, and push yourself to your highest intellectual abilities, Elevate is a great app for you. I personally feel the benefits of using this app, and find myself returning to this app when I’m feeling less on top of things. Give your brain that much needed mental stretch. You’ll be glad you did..Version: 5.16.1
The tension between the intentions, (2nd) being picky isn’t always prickly(Too see my reliability check “there is some sort of error” 5 star rating) I’m often angered by my reaction times and processing speed, but I always fell like I choking when my body goes into something that can determine my statistics(or generally important thing). That lead to me having to warm-up on a game called “Chaos Grid” a simple game that puts you a three different tempos while keeping in mind multiple factors, this is when I thought why not add a warm-up exercise that is meant to keep oxygen circulation constant in pressured situations. I see this addition being personally benefiting to both of us because I what to improve, and you want to get something that will help bring a more diverse audience in and stand above the rest, and doing this will be your fist step towards evolution (by the way people are always attracted to changes such as adding a major update names such as “Elevate: the evolution”to a app and maybe changing the color schemes “Being pick isn’t always prickly” (Sorry I didn’t realize that you had to delete feedback to make feed back so please disregard my previous statement about my previous post “there is some sort of error” I’ll try to reconfirm my value in the future) ok as a definition freak I wanna make the most accurate and descriptive definitions as possible. It’s kinda hard to tell some of the descriptions of words through the use of terms using specific people. Like dependent doesn’t exactly mean a PERSON only who being dependent upon something.(I was short and brief with this one sorry I’ll come back and add additional information later).Version: 5.9.2
Elevate: A Breath of Fresh AirRarely will I take the time to write a review for an app unless I REALLY appreciate it. That said... for this one I just had to! Elevate is a true breath of fresh air; this app is simple yet effective! Many apps, championed by greedy developers, will force-feed you ads and other junk you could care less about. But with Elevate, it is clear that it's developer's purposes are to help their users become more confident in their cognitive abilities and more productive in their daily affairs. With it's colorful graphics and upbeat sound effects, it is easy to stay involved in and focused with each activity. One thing I really appreciate is that one does not need to buy the premium version of this app to still experience its many mini-games that cover various subjects that appeal to the brain (such as Reading, English, Math, Logistics, etc.) The best part about this app, however, is that it only takes a few minutes each day. But each of those minutes spent help in building a quick-witted brain, as well as taking away time spent on immediate, less effective forms of pleasure (like social media). I would 100% recommend this to anyone who is needing a break from all the junk in our lives..Version: 5.173.1
Not for meI downloaded the trial after experiencing an ad and accidentally acquired a subscription because I failed to cancel. That was disheartening because it’s quite expensive. I can understand the cost because I can see that the developers put a lot into it. Why I canceled the subscription 9 months early: Some people, me included, do not respond well to being timed while thinking. Timers that are running out and also warning you that they are running out are not helpful for everyday brain function. For many people it can inhibit clear thinking. (This is why as a teacher, I was opposed to timed math tests as I saw the anxiety and suffering it caused many children.) Perhaps this app is meant to train you for thinking in panic mode. But unnecessary panic and anxiety causes your body to release stress hormones. It is a true problem of modern life. A better way to handle timing for this app would be to inform the “player” of their time after completion. Allow the player to compete with themselves by doing their personal best while still being allowed to thoroughly complete each task. Completion of tasks is a very important aspect of feeling successful. Feeling successful is a very important aspect of continuing to participate. And, regular inducement of stress hormones - cortisol, epinephrine, and orexin - are unhealthy for the body and the mind long term. I felt like I had to try because of the money invested, but found that I dreaded it. As one gets older, and the timer of life is running out, they do not feel interested in doing things that cause anxiety..Version: 5.68.0
Good but not enoughI have enjoyed using this app but after challenging myself to do it daily for a couple of months I feel like it’s become a chore and isn’t doing much for me. The games/daily challenges are so short, and basically over in a few seconds. I doubt any one of them usually takes more than a minute or so. It’s just not enough time to “exercise” my brain. Additionally, I have been playing consistently, and consistently doing very well (usually a few personal bests a day) yet the material doesn’t seem to be getting more challenging. Most of the math is something my 10 year old could do, though not as quickly. Similar with a lot of the reading and grammar challenges. Even memory stuff. I think this app is a fun way for an adult to feel like they are doing something for their cognitive health, but after a while is mostly an ego boost designed to make you feel smart for doing elementary school level problems quickly. I’d gain a lot more from an actual challenge. If I’m setting high scores every day, I’m not being challenged, so it can’t be doing much to exercise my brain. I’d rather be challenged to think more deeply, not just more quickly. I am close to giving up. I had hoped that if I played every day it would start giving me harder material. Too bad I have another 7 months on my membership..Version: 5.54.0
THIS APP IS AWESOME + suggestionI’ve been using this app for 137 days since i’ve got it! my streak is 137 so that shows i haven’t missed a day! it’s genuinely good with its free version because it has good workouts which are basically mini games that helps you! the sectors which you can learn from are writing, speaking, reading, and math (and memory but that’s premium)! i genuinely love this app and it’s helping me learn, despite it being in small ways! but there is one issue i have… the leagues. recently, leagues were addee. i’m currently in the emerald league and i’m struggling to stay up there despite my EPQ being all expert. the problem i have is that this makes the app feel more like a challenge and competition more than a learning app. competitions usually cause other players to quit. i’m not planning to quit the app, but adding the leagues may make people quit because they can’t progress. so instead of encouraging them to work harder, they can get frustrated and feel worthless. so, what i’m suggesting is that elevate can add a “opt out” button. that why, people don’t have to participate and they can stay on the app and feel like they made progress. but that’s just me! 10/10 would recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.Version: 5.220.0
Almost perfectI rarely rate apps; you can look at my history, and see I only review an application if it’s disappointing. Elevate is not so terrible but it lacks things that you would think they would have fixed by now. I am an annual membership holder, so you know I’m not lying about investing time in this. The app is great, and it has a few awesome tricks that make visitors return and seek out activities (interesting stories, the music, positive feedback, etc). There are two concerns that need tweaking: 1.) Stopping a streak in the middle of a personalized workout because the time becomes 12:00 am. I feel it short-sighted to make the algorithm blind to a continuous workout in favor of ending your streak, even if you’re on the last activity! Some of us are busy and we don’t have the time to exercise until evening. 2.) There are not enough study materials for math problems, and not enough helpful strategies demonstrated to become stronger in mental math. I am talking specifically in the “study” section of elevation. Where are the study materials for Equivalence and Conversions? Also, can you give us the open to play without being timed on purchasing and discounts? I hate mental math, but one of the reasons I’m using this app is to become better at it, why would I want the stress of being timed when I just want to learn?.Version: 5.75.0
I Miss the old days.I haven’t played the game, but I looked at it and man. I heard the rumors that you guys are actually the mindsnacks people. and if that’s true, you’ve downgraded. I know that you said that mindsnacks is “too big of a project” but I don’t think that’s true. They were my childhood games and nothing can take them away from me. I still have geography and kids vocab on my iPad and play them on the regular with different challenges each time like playing in hard mode or playing it without quests. I don’t care what it takes. I will literally go back in time at this point to stop you guys from abandoning mindsnacks. I want you to bring it back please man… Geography and kids vocab are the only games you can create accounts on now because it doesn’t need emails… but all the others say “error 3002”My favorite game out of all of them was Japanese and it genuinely helped me learn Japanese but then again you abandoned it. This review is a plead out to you guys. All I ask is for you to bring mindsnacks back. I don’t care what it takes. I will not stop until my childhood returns to me. Please bring these games back. They were some of my all-time favorite games. thank you for reading..Version: 5.168.0
Productive use of timeBesides being fun, stimulating, and challenging, use of this app has helped me refine my thinking about grammar, word usage and mental math, and helped me become better at balancing a quick response with error avoidance. In fact, playing this game helped me realize that in many other situations I have been “dumbing down” my thinking to accommodate the common errors that are usually not seen as errors. This app snapped me out of that thinking. The program writing is at a higher level than other games / mind stimulation exercises I’ve seen elsewhere, to the extent it brings out fine errors of usage that typically go unnoticed or uncorrected. Plus, the support team appears to truly appreciate user feedback so you have a chance to challenge any result you think is wrong and get a prompt reply. This probably helps keep the game at a more rigorous level. Overall, bravo for one of the very best apps I have encountered. p.s. agree with another rater that some of the photos used in the memory recall game are not great illustrations of the concept or are ambiguous and I, too, would like the app developers to enable users to flag those to continue making this App better and better..Version: 5.53.0
Worth The Download & SubscriptionThe negative reviews have me convinced they’re from competing companies because I can’t find anything to write negatively on in regards to Elevate. Couldn’t ask for a better app to train and sharpen my brain through. Even if you only have a few minutes a day it’s enough to fit training in (recommendation is 12 mins. minimum I believe). The subscription costs hardly anything for everything you get out of this app all the way down to stats updating you on your progress and where you need work. My favorite is the notification center which includes updates on sessions you had trouble in, and they go back over them with you to explain in detail where you messed up and why the correct answer is the correct answer. Not to mention the fact that the games on this are far more professional than most popular “brain game” apps on the market. I’ve tried a handful of others and they all just seem too light and playful in approach whereas Elevate has what feels like a professional and serious approach. I feel like I’m getting proper lessons and training rather than “just playing some games”. So glad I found Elevate; it’s worth the download even if you opt out of subscribing..Version: 5.9.2
Support is horribleI love this game and have been playing it since the beginning when it appeared in the App Store. I love it so much I bought the premium version.I am not a computer whizz . I am old and learning new tricks but for some things I need just a little more help of which I can’t seem to find here and therefore cannot finish my latest session because the dang thing won’t stop crashing! I have turned my iPad off and on to reboot it that has not helped. I therefore believe it’s within your game. It has been happening every time I play for the last three days. If I get help, my review gets better. I am writing once again for the second week in a row with the exact same issue. The game completely crashes not allowing me to play at all. Meaning I lose a day . This is important to me for two reasons. First, I have multiple sclerosis and depend on this to challenge myself daily and to help keep my brain as sharp as possible for as long as possible. Two, I have paid extra for the premium version and would expect premium service and not this sloppy iT management. Please fix this ASAP! I have yet again one more complaint! I have trained tirelessly in the game of Context within the Reading suite and it is the worst game you offer! The answers come up after the time allotted to choose the correct answer! This occurs repeatedly! And I am tired of getting dinged incorrect for choosing incorrectly just because you can’t get the right word displayed in a timely manner!!! I have a great suggestion to keep me from posting here. Please remove the Context game from the reading section. It is grossly flawed and I am tired of it dinging me for answering wrongly when it doesn’t even put the correct word choice up in time for me to tap it! I am a perfectionist and this is unacceptable..Version: 5.41.0
Excellent customer service when glitches happen and quick response.I’ve done Elevate in various forms over the years. Right now, I kinda do the crossword puzzle and about once or twice a week do the whole exercise. But I was determined to start doing the exercises daily on vacation in Mexico this past week. I’ve always found that I think much more clearly when I do them every day. I am 73 years old. It was so difficult to download the app and then have it register me as the actual person using it and charged me extra, etc. for a plan I didn’t want. I believe a lot of it had to do with the fact that I was traveling internationally. The Mind Company worked with me and my whining the whole time to get me back on track for my 700 streak and told me what to do to cancel the unnecessary subscription. And then when I lost Internet altogether, they figured out a way to hold my streak until I got back to the states. I think that’s pretty great. And a great incentive for people to continue to use the app. I’ve had other experiences where I’ve had to contact them and they’ve always been super responsive and given me my final results that I wanted. Bravo to them!.Version: 5.216.0
Exactly what I needed!Over the past couple of years, I found myself not being able to remember things very well for very long, even if I’d just read, heard it from a video or or even a conversation. I’ve always had a great memory so it was really bothering me. When trying to find a way to help myself, I was particularly interested in finding memory type comprehension activities. I searched the APP Store for “brain games” and found Elevate. I downloaded the free trial for 7 days as have been pleasantly surprised that I found exactly what I had wanted to find. It’s been helpful not just in reading, but keeping sharp in math (estimations, percentages, even tipping) as well as writing, diction, vocabulary and so many others. It’s all based on current skill level, the games are fun and in each ‘daily workout’ that it puts together for you, it gives great feedback. It keeps me challenged when it sees that my scores are increasing in each category. I’m hooked. I’m enjoying the daily exercises and look forward to seeing my progress. Membership for the year is well worth it and affordable. I can’t wait to see how much I’ve improved by this time next year..Version: 5.43.0
Why Wouldn’t You?Amazing, surprising and informative...are what you will feel after you start the lessons see your scores. And, then when they start to increase, you’ll want more and more! At first you want a rating to see where you stand in regards to how “smart” you are, or think you are. Then, as a human, you’ll welcome the challenge as the tests, or puzzles and games, get more and more difficult. Then finally, when you realize that it’s not exactly a puzzle or a game, but actually exercise for your brain, you feel uplifted by a sense of accomplishment! Once you experience positive success completing the lessons you get real, viable proof and an affirmation if you will, that this program works to expand your intellect and problem solving capabilities. You see written results of your completed lessons daily that give you the proof and confidence that the program does what it says it will. All this and I have not purchased a thing! (Yet!) I’m not a avid video game player, but for me personally, getting smarter is addictive too! What a positive reason to use this app! Try it! If you are looking for an interesting, informative, positive way to just pass the time, or you are actively looking to train your brain and increase your concentration, focus and problem solving functions, this is for you. If you don’t like it the format, don’t see results, whatever, you have lost nothing. Just delete the app and move on. Find a different one that works for you. But do find something. This planet needs to up its intellect. Video games are not going to help in doing that! There is no downside using this app. I’m glad there are apps out there like this one. We need even more. Thank you for creating it, keep up the good work! Sincerely, K.C. In California.Version: 5.9.2
Started using this to get better at mathI started using elevate b/c I was bad at math and I knew that I could be good at math (my dad did state competitions in Texas for math events and my mom can add up grocery prices and discounts like nobody’s business), but I hadn’t ever enjoyed learning by being talked to for and hour and a half and then getting homework without any guidance… until it was grading time. Elevate by no means taught me how statistics, or calculus, or even algebra. What it did do was give me the confidence boost I needed, and taught me how to do a lot of mental multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. To the point that for a most things I prefer to do it in my head b/c it is faster than taking out a calculator, and in class it meant that I spent less time trying to figure out where the teacher got whatever number (since I’d already done it in my head) and more time focusing on the methodology and steps of whatever they were teaching me. Now I’ve been out of school for a few years and I still practice with elevate b/c quick mental calculations, fluid speech, good memory, and faster reading are all things that I use in my day-to-day life..Version: 5.77.0
Unnecessarily StressfulI really like the games, they're a great way to get my brain started in the morning, but after a long time of using this app I had to delete it because I can't stand the way it forces you into mapping out your progress and keeping "streaks" that you can't opt out of, it assumes that you're in a state of competitiveness with your past self or that you are desiring an impossible amount of daily growth without variation, and it pesters you to pay for the subscription in a particularly manipulative feeling way in my opinion. Maybe I'm just not the target audience? I just want to do daily brain games for my brain's health, I don't need to be manipulated into coming back or doing better. If the games are good (which they are!) I will come back. It doesn't trust the user to discern if it feels good to them, sort of reminding me of Duolingo (which I also can't stand). I like the animations and the sound effects and the games themselves, and I would pay for the extra games and features if the actual app wasn't such an unnecessarily stressful space that I actually end up dreading opening and wanting to avoid. I would only recommend this app to people who enjoy competition with themselves or desire their apps to give them stressful reasons to come back.Version: 5.204.0
Great brain trainingI’ve been using the Elevate app for a few months now, and I can honestly say it’s been a game-changer for keeping my mind sharp and engaged. The app’s sleek design and personalized approach make it super easy to jump into daily brain-training sessions that feel more like fun challenges than a chore. I love how it tailors exercises to my skill level, focusing on areas like memory, focus, and math, while gradually increasing the difficulty to keep me on my toes. The variety of games is a huge plus—whether it’s tackling quick word puzzles or sharpening my mental math, there’s always something fresh to dive into. I’ve noticed a real improvement in my ability to process information quickly and stay focused during busy workdays. The progress tracking is motivating, with clear stats that show how far I’ve come, and the reminders are just the right nudge to keep me consistent without being annoying. Elevate strikes a perfect balance between fun and productive, making it ideal for anyone looking to boost their mental agility in just a few minutes a day. Highly recommend giving it a try!.Version: 5.183.0
Timing everything skews learningI can see how this app could be beneficial and enjoyable to some people. However, the fact that every game is timed adds an artificial (and IMO arbitrary) goal that supersedes the learning objective of the app. While it makes sense to time the games that appropriately aim to speed up a specific ability, it doesn’t make sense to time every game—and to cut off the game when the time expires. Some things warrant a thoughtfulness that the stress of a timer precludes. It’s difficult to get the most out of an exercise like “Adjective Recall” or “Eloquence” when I’m not allowed enough time to explore my vocabulary on a deeper level. Further, these exercises are so far removed from the real-life experiences of writing and speaking that the timer offers no real measurement of one’s actual abilities. Unfortunately, access to more challenging activity levels relies on speedy responses rather than true knowledge levels. I suppose if you generally believe that “faster is better,” then this app will suit you. I, however, fail to see the benefits of the concept of “speed editing,” for example. For many of the skills this app addresses, the timer turns “training” into “gaming.” If you’re not interested in gaming, this app won’t satisfy your craving for intellectually challenging puzzles..Version: 5.37.2
Needs upgradingI first liked the app and tried the free version for some time. I liked the regular practice and decided to purchase when there was a big sale. However I feel once I have purchased that I don’t get any more benefits than I did with the free version. The games aren’t that much more diverse.. it tends to pick the same games for me continually and rarely do I get new ones. I feel there are some features that make the practice feel less like it’s trying to train you, teach you, help understand things better, and more focused on completing the game and passing. For instance there are some games that don’t tell me what the correct answer should have been if I got it wrong. Or if you run out of time, I would like to know the answer to what I was working on. Sometimes if I do not pass on the first try, the second try is much easier or doesn’t seem equivalent levels, just so that I pass instead of being challenged. Some games have such a time pressure that your mind can make shortcuts just to guess the right answer instead of knowing why it’s correct. The reviews only will go over 2 mistakes... Yea. I feel there could be more to make a paying contributor feel like they get more out of the training.Version: 5.23.0
Great app but a minor inconvenienceI was actually quite impressed with this app during the few days that I used it, however I ended up deleting my account and removing the app from my iPad. Under any other circumstances I would rate this app as five stars. I am however giving it four stars because today I received a mysterious email from the elevate team reminding me that my account was going to be charged in two days unless I cancel my auto renewal. I checked in the app’s setting, and I only had the free account and not the free trial. I checked under my device’s setting and did not see elevate under my subscriptions. At this point I decided to call elevate’s customer service to see what the issue was, however I was unable to find a phone number. The only way to contact the support team was through an email. As I was not sure when or even if I would receive a timely response to my email inquiry, I decided to delete my account and remove the app from my device because I simply did not want to deal with the hassle of getting charged and then having to dispute the charge. Later this evening I received another email from the customer service team informing me that the initial email was sent out in error and I was indeed under the free account and would not be charged. Sadly however by this point my account had already been deleted, and I did not want to start building my streak from scratch again. I won’t be downloading this app again, however as I stated earlier it is quite a well-developed app and perhaps the best of its kind that I have seen so far. As long as you don’t experience the same issue as I did, I think you’ll find it quite enjoyable and rewarding to play. I will stay with Luminosity and MindPal for now since I haven’t had any problems with those apps for as long as I have been using them..Version: 5.64.0
Lacks a support staffI started using this last year and used it for approximately 6 months and found it helpful and enjoyable. I paid for the a year in advance. After that initial 6-month period the app started to have some glitching issues. I tried reaching out for help but could find no way to communicate with the company, so I re-installed the app, but it reset all my previous scores and skill levels, therefore starting me over again which I was not pleased with. I couldn’t log in again. I tried sending requests in through something in the app but never got a response. Tried to contact through the website but when you click the Contact button you just a blank screen. I even tried to respond to the emails they would send me but never got a response. So I canceled the renewal through apple, but couldn’t find any way to get a refund on the 6 months I couldn’t use the app and couldn’t get any to help resolve the issue. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone because of the lack of service to resolve issues. When that happens you won’t get any help, but they they will try to keep hitting your account for money. Disappointing..Version: 5.43.0
NOT a waste of timeI normally don't bother with this type of app. I am an engineer with a good reputation for hard skills. A leader in multitasking and project organization often assigned special tasks by corporate leadership outside my traditional roles. So I was figuring, quite arrogantly, I must have it in one sock pretty well. Thing is… no matter how good you are there will always be these two irrefutable truths: 1) There will always be areas you are weaker, if not flat out awful at. 2) The only way you stay good, or get better is by training. There is ALWAYS some benifit to be found in every training opportunity. This app nails these two nuances. It finds where you are weaker then it gives you training content to improve, while stretching you where you are strong to keep you sharp. If you are wondering still if its worth it, it is. You will blow $40 on an XBOX game module or 4x that on a set of earbuds that work the same as the ones you already have. Spend that $40 on something that makes you more valuable to others and your self. Give it a try, stick with it, watch yourself improve..Version: 5.138.0
This would have been a 5 star reviewI love this game. I play it every day and it really does challenge the mind. I love it so much that back in January I paid for an annual subscription. It’s been great. Until the last update.... and now when I open the app I get “unlock elevate” asking me to buy a subscription! I can’t play half the games on there because of this, and there’s no “restore purchases” button so there’s no way to make this update recognize that I already have a subscription. AND I’ve emailed the developer twice in the last 4-5 days and all I’ve gotten is a canned message saying “sorry we’re backed up with emails, we’ll reply soon” It’s ridiculous. I can’t be the only user having this problem, so it would be nice if you could even acknowledge that this problem is happening and you’re working on a fix. But nope - nothing, and this update has been out for over a week. So instead of 5 stars you get 1 - both for this extremely annoying glitch (an annual membership is not cheap!) AND for having zero customer service to address it. Not cool..Version: 5.40.0
Fun training, valuable skillsAs an engineering student, I can attest to many a long research paper, and timed physics and calculus exams. Often in the solving of complex thermodynamics, you would find that some of the most annoying, time consuming operations could be alleviated by a stronger, faster mental math skill set. I have spent entire nights (without sleeping) poring over long research papers, attempting to catch mistakes and condense and clarify my work. These games are very basic, fun, and effective. I feel that this app has the potential for further development, and could easily become part of the tool set of an aspiring engineer. They speed train the basics, so that you have more time and energy to focus on the tough stuff. I'm a bit intrigued by how the ratings are calculated, as I reached the 80% percentile in math within my 3rd day of using it. Do you guys think to account for the people who get the app, play for one day and then never use it again? Or maybe I'm just smart. Idk. Great app to try for the free trial, not sure if I'll pay for it though. I'll be keeping my eye on its development for sure though.Version: 5.7
Amazing App!This app is fantastic in conjunction with an app called Brilliant. The two work fabulously with one another. I use Elevate as a good warm up exercise to stretch every region of my brain to prepare it for my main workout (which I do with Brilliant). Give them both a shot! This app is amazing because it’s flexible with every individuals learning style and methods to problem solve, learn tips and tricks to perform certain tasks efficiently and more! Brilliant is more of an advanced app and, depending on the individual, may take them more time to solve and figure out certain tasks from specific courses that Brilliant offers. My first course that I decided to challenge myself in was the Logic/problem solving in the mathematics section. I actually did really well! Anyways, download either of the app, whether it be Brilliant or Elevate. If you want to get the best of both world, download both! You have the option to use either of the two for free, or pay monthly/yearly for additional bonus content and access! Hope this review helps! Happy hunting! :D.Version: 5.59.0
Amazing app with alot of potentialIve been on a bit of trend where I dedicate my free time to education apps such as elevate, duolingo, and alter ego. All great programs that regularly improve me in big ways. I recommend this app 10/10 but wanted to write this review to request an update from the developers. My biggest hindrance in using this app is that there is no one form of streak preservation which is unfortunate. I would love to see this app adopt the due lingo model of offering incentives to keep learning such as streak freezes or special unlocks that motivate you to continue progression. I live a very busy life and sometimes can’t get to the app within the day, I would LOVE to be able to earn streak freezes as a backup to continue learning once I free up once again. I had something like a 60 day streak when I got tied up one day and completely lost my progress tracking. It really bummed me out and discouraged me from wanting to keep a streak at all seeing how easy it was to lose over a fluke. If this could be amended the app would be perfect! 💯.Version: 5.144.0

Good but point system needs improvementI’ve used this app for a long time and maxed out almost every category until they raised the max to over 300. Something that has always bothered me is the points accrued. I don’t see much rhyme or reason to it sometimes. For example, at times I see it shoot up four points on an Excellent score, but other times it is raised by only three. The app in the past would give five points but that seems to have gone by the wayside some time ago. My main issue is when you get a high score. I have only seen it move up by three measly points for high scores for a long time now. A high score should net more points than anything else. It doesn’t happen often and if you can beat your previous high score, isn’t that the pinnacle? It’s better than excellent, obviously. It should garner five points. It should be the only time you can earn that much. Right now it is only three! That is ridiculous, please update the point system and give more points for a high score, and maybe amend the point system in general to make it more obvious about why you are getting what you get. Thank you..Version: 5.9.2
Practically Amazing!I have not used many apps or programs similar to this that “train your brain”, and am fairly new to this application. But dang, (am not going to curse), this application so far is incredible! It is so practical and useful to daily life, honestly this type of format should be used in the public school systems. It is engaging, looks beautiful and clean, and has great motivating features such as the slot-machine sounds(which if you have been to vegas feel pretty rewarding lol). Overall this has to be one of the best applications i have used to date, which makes the yearly payment absolutely worth it if you find developing your mind in practical way useful. 9.9/10 so far. (Hope this application continues to grow and develop, and reaches a greater scale than where it is currently at.) Also for you guys that have read all the way till the end, wait for the “cheaper algorithm” to kick in. (Not sure what needs to be done, but diminishing use, sucking more, skipped lessons, non-finished days as time goes on, but continual use without upgrading may be the key) Get Learning! Yay..Version: 4.8.1
Helpful but takes timeI have had this app for about 9-10 months and I try to use it everyday, at least doing the basic puzzles and daily training. I will say it does take time to build up to more advanced levels, so if you feel at first it is too easy, it will get harder (unless you’re like me and STILL stuck at the basic math levels…yikes, not my specialty, but I have gotten better). I like the variety of training and can tell a difference in my mental sharpness in how much quicker I can answer questions (even math). So at first it may not seem to be doing much, but over time I feel sharper. The app is easy to use and navigate, and I have never had issues with bugs or weird ads (I paid annually). There are daily featured workouts which mixes up categories and when you reach certain levels you can unlock new games. My one complaint is there are a few games where the rules are not clear and, maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t follow the logic. One such is the bubble game finding pairs of bubbles to pop, but it’s not a deal breaker, it all works fine..Version: 5.206.0
Quality Content, Reasonable PriceShort version: if you use this app consistently, you will help hone your mind to a razor's edge. I have a year of consistent training - doing the daily recommended program at least 5 times a week- to back this up. Long version: I have used Elevate for 2 years. For the first year, I didn't use the app to it's fullest. Ever since I realized that, I changed my attitude and have achieved massive intellectual growth. For example, my writing was very sloppy in high school - I was very wordy and my vocabulary was imprecise. By using Elevate frequently, I have achieved a level of writing that has impressed many peers and professors at college: and I'm not an English major! My professors all have at least 15 years of work experience and they say I write professional-grade material. Not only that, but it also improved my intellectual strength so much that I didn't realize how much I'd grown until recently! It's truly one of the best apps for those looking to strengthen their minds..Version: 5.55.0
Solid Brain Training App with Room for ImprovementI've been using Elevate for a few weeks now and really enjoy how it challenges different aspects of my thinking. The games are fun and engaging - I especially love the vocabulary and reading comprehension exercises that I can do during my morning coffee. The app does a great job of adjusting difficulty as you improve, so it never feels too easy or frustratingly hard. Recently, I was playing the mental math games and was surprised at how much quicker I've become at calculating prices in the supermarket. The daily workout feature keeps me motivated, and I like seeing my progress tracked over time. It's become a productive way to spend those small pockets of free time during the day. My only complaint is that some games can feel a bit repetitive even after just a few weeks. I wish there was more variety in the free version before needing to subscribe. Still, it's a solid app that makes brain training feel less like work and more like play. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to keep their mind sharp in a fun way..Version: 5.173.1
Very GoodI’ve learned a lot from these brain exercises. I’m less intimidated by math and have learned some new vocabulary words. However, some of the exercises are unnecessarily repetitive. For example, I’ve been tested on the exact same stories a few times. And some of the pictures for vocabulary building are too difficult to see on a smart phone or the pictures don’t adequately portray what they are supposed to picture. In other words, sometimes the pictures reflect a biased perspective that, I suspect, makes the game inadequate for gaging the performance of a large segment of its players. Other problems occur in games that test our ability to hear mistakes in grammar. These recordings sometimes don’t take into account that a listener might easily hear a correct version even if it’s not said correctly by the speaker. The voice and rhythm and flow of the recorded speakers tend to be culturally tinged in a way that this company has considered adequately generic enough but this might not be valid to account for some of the wide ranging nuances and speech patterns that flavor the language centers in the brains of lots of listeners..Version: 5.9.2
Great app but needs some tweekingI enjoy using the elevate app. It’s enjoyable to use and I love the animations with in the app during exercises and the layout of the app and it’s little quirks. However it does get annoying when I get daily notifications to do workouts I like to have them on to remember to do a workout. I’ve noticed lately though I’m doing the same exercises over and over. I’ve memorize a lot of them instead of learning from them. It’s main point for using the app is trying to improve how you speak and sharpen your mind. It has a way of working like Duolingo where you memorize exercises or what to look for instead teaching me how to use it in real life. It hasn’t really helped me improve my speaking but it has helped keep my mind active in reading or remembering. I still say a lot of “old words” of mine. Which the app claims it’ll help you fix better. Great app I still use it but needs some new perspective on how to teach the user to improve speaking or other or personalize exercises for the user to make it personal and helpful to them..Version: 5.173.1
Fees and age restrictionsThis game sounded awesome with the editors choice award and the 4.8 out of five rating. But there is a hidden fee that once you do the first level that you have to pay annually. I have been looking for a game for a long time now for free brain training game. And you can go with you can play the game but you can only do kind of like the first level that shows you where you are in the game. But then everything else is locked you can literally not with any other game. Also I am 11 and I again I’ve been looking for a game that is free but also can be any age to play. I do not think it’s fair to hold a restriction on people that of under age of 13That is a game of just brain training that is not an inappropriate at all. Otherwise all the stuff I said before if you were over 13 and don’t mind paying money every single month to play brain training game this game is great I’m gonna give credit to it they made a really good program and it sounds fun. I guess I will go back on the hunt to find a brain training game that let me play without paying money and Let me play under the age of 13..Version: 5.59.0

Life changing appI struggled with reading all my life. I can read and write, but the processing is where I struggle. Sometimes I need to read a sentence 3 times over before understanding it. Another thing that’s held me back is reading something, and then immediately forgetting what I read. I wouldn’t be able to retain the important details or understand what the writer was trying to convey, god forbid be able to recount it to someone else. After using this app for only 1 day, and playing the reading games, specifically the processing, comprehension and extraction games for a couple hours.. wow, what a difference! I was able to read all the news stories on the Economist Espresso app very quickly, without having to go back and re-read, and I retained most of what I read! I am astonished at what I was able to achieve in such a short amount of time with this app. I was convinced I had dyslexia, and maybe I do, but I can tell this app is already doing wonders for my skills, and my self esteem. I am seriously grateful to its creators. Thank you 🙏.Version: 5.118.0

Why I like ElevateI like Elevate because it’s fun and it improves my learning. Without Elevate I wouldn’t have gotten better at math or grammar! Now I feel more confident in spelling, reading, and math! Elevate gives you lots of choices about what workout or game you want to play. My favourite game to play is name recall. Elevate has made my learning and my brain stronger! And because of that I want to say, thank you Elevate!.Version: 5.124.0
Changed my lifeI played this game for 2 years straight and achieved the highest levels in all categories. My reading, comprehension, short-term memory, grammar, vocabulary, punctation skills all improved vastly. Pretty much all my academic weak links were strengthened, thanks to this app. Your growth does stagnate at some point, but I recommend this to absolutely anyone. You will benefit from this, even if you are already smart, academically..Version: 5.87.0
Are you planning to make app more accessible? This is a lot of fun and is a great work out for seniors. I am 76. My husband is 80 and has Parkinson’s. Have you considered modifying the game to accommodate people who have handicaps such as hand tremors, senior minds that are slower, eyesight not as sharp etc. This is a great way to keep the mind working. If you don’t use it you lose it..Version: 5.89.1
