Love to travelI’ve been using this app for the last year or two and quite pleased with it’s ease-of-use. I’ve never forgotten a thing that I needed and I love the fact that you can add things that may not be listed. I just purchased the premium version and have only one minor concern. I just used the app and after I have set it all up and added new things, I realized that the dates were incorrect. I could not find anywhere to change the dates other than re-doing it...which I was not about to do. This seems like an easy change and I hope you can accommodate me on this with a fix. Overall good but the UI needs refinementMy initial review of this app wasn’t quite fair. There were some capabilities I didn’t think it had but it did - they were just harder to find than I thought. Biggest issues are some inefficiencies in the user interface. One big one - PackPoint always wants to drop you into the screen for creating a packing list, even when that’s not what you want to do and there’s no way out of it until you create a list. Then you have to go back and delete the unwanted list it forced you to create! Other annoyances are 1) entering dates one field at a time instead of using a calendar selector; 2) the weather display looks like a day forecast but isn’t; 3) the weather display also needs to allow you to click thru to a multi day forecast covering your trip; 3) it really needs to let you modify the names of items in an activity as well as change the ordering, like you can in an actual packing list. Great organizational toolI love this app. It helps me stay organized and not forget anything. I bought the premium so I could customize my lists. It was well worth it! Depending on whether my trip is business or leisure or who is coming with me, I can have set items I need. Going to Disney- remember the bands and pins and kid info tags. Taking someone with disabilities remember their placard, wheelchair case, and any specialized items. My most important packing aid!I hate lists. Like, I’m practically allergic to them. So the idea that I’d like this app is all but completely laughable. And yet, I use it every time, and have done so for several years. Hunting, camping, business travel, visiting family, whatever I do I make sure to pack using this app. It keeps me from forgetting anything or saying, “oh, shoot, I was going to pack that!” While the default lists are good the real power is in the ability to customize lists and create your own. For example, you could use this when preparing for a game night, a convention, an industry trade event, whatever. You can always make sure that everything you would want is there. And if you DO miss something you can always add it to the list so you don’t forget it next time. Now, is it perfect? No. You can’t choose zero nights on the trip duration. You have to use a city name to file the trip, so if you’re headed out somewhere remote you’ll have to figure out nearby cities, and that isn’t always useful info. The “Essentials” list is *always* added to your list (and although you can go back into “Edit Activities” and remove it that begs the question of why it was mandatory to have in the first place). You can’t set quantities that change based on the duration of the stay. So, for instance, if I need to pack water for five days the item on my list is identical as though I said I needed water for 1-2 days. It’d be nice if I said I wanted 1 gal/day/person. You can’t add multiple copies of a list. So if I’m packing for a trip and we’re taking the kids I can’t add clothes lists for them unless I create three different copies of the list. (Any edits would then also have to be done once for each list.) Some smarter list generation would be REALLY handy. ...but do I use this every time? Yes. Pack PointThis app is amazing! I have always been known as an over packer, and this app helps me make sure that I don’t over pack. It also lets me know what I should pack. Buggy when you need itBeware if you pay for the upgraded version. If this app worked as promised, it would be amazing, but it often shuts off while I have a packing list open, and then when I open it, it’s reset everything that I’ve already packed. Sometime it doesn’t sync with TripIt, so it can’t see an upcoming trip, and when I tried to reinstall it, it erased all of the custom packing templates that I had created over the last year. A great resource for travelPack Point not only ensures you don’t forget anything crucial, it can prevent over-packing. It’s worth the annual fee to be able to fully customize it for activities such as bird-watching, ballroom dance events, Civil War re-enacting or what-have-you. It can take a little time to create your specialized lists, but you never have to do it again. Still NecessaryAfter many years I still find PackPoint to be the necessary planning list I need for any trip I’m taking. It checks the weather and helps me pick what to pack as well as remember what I need to bring home. It was great when I had to pack for four kids, but now that they are grown it still helps me for solo trips. The idea is awesome, but the execution needs some work.First of all, the app looks beautiful and it’s very intuitive. The one issue I have is that’s it’s a bit buggy. For example, when typing text and working your way down a list, the list itself doesn’t automatically move up. Eventually, the keyboard blocks what you’re typing and there’s no way to hide the keyboard or manually scroll up or down. My go to packing listI always pull this up when I'm traveling. I like that it asks you for where you will be and gives you the expected weather. It also gives you a chance to list your activities and whether you can do laundry. I have it A4 because it would be good to 1). Give a suggested number of items (example 3 shirts, 2 shorts). and 2). A couple of suggestionsFor longer trips, the app simply multiplies days to arrive at the number of shirts, underwear, socks, etc. But if I’m going on a 35 day trip I won’t pack 35 shirts! Not helpful for multi-locationWe are world travelers and travel often. Most of our trips are for 3-6 weeks at a time, hitting 10-15 spots. Our MO is to fly to a destination, stay for a few days, then cruise to 6-8 ports (or land bus tour to 6-8 cities). Then stay in one locale for a week and explore, then we train or fly onto another area where we continue spot hopping for another week via land tour or another cruise. We love traveling this way, but it does take lots of packing planning when you’re going to so many different places in one or two suitcases. This app can’t handle our kind of travel without creating a bunch of mini trips. For now, I’m back to creating my spreadsheets with each day, location, activities, and weather, then estimating clothes based on that. Was really hoping this app could save me the time, but it would take forever to create a bunch of little trips for each individual day or several day runs. It also wouldn’t roll all those trips into one packing plan making sure I don’t duplicate items. Not quite there yet, guys! But you’ll have my money when you fix that..FarbeyondmeVersion: 1.40

Was great when it worked.This app was so great for years, total 5 star. I used it on every trip I took. But recently, it has stopped working properly. When I open it up, it opens to the screen asking me to select either business or leisure for a new trip. And there is no way to get out of that screen without quitting the app, which most times won’t even fix it. Worst, one of my last trips I created a list. Tweaked it perfectly to suite that trip. Opened it back up a few days later and it was gone. I had to delete the app, reinstall and all my customized lists were gone. Forever. There is no backup. I was optimistic and so started to creat my lists again. But then it still would not open to the screen where I can choose to view a saved trip. This app has seriously become useless and I am on the hunt for a better one. It has not been updated in 7 months! TripIt, who I believe bought it, has entirely neglected it and I wonder if they plan to no longer offer it. Limited optionsThe free version of the PackPoint app is a 2-star experience. I paid $2.99 to upgrade for the ability to edit the template and packing list, but I was disappointed by its limitations. It would be great if I could name my trip instead of being forced to enter a destination. The app requires a location but lacks many common cities—Maui and Kona, for example, aren’t even included! If location-based features like weather aren’t fully supported, it should be optional rather than mandatory. Additionally, once a trip or city is entered, it cannot be modified—only deleted and recreated from scratch. The app offers very few customization options, making edits frustratingly limited. Nice idea, but an UI failureI wanted to love this app. By the description, it seems to be a winner. A few dollars later, and I regret not buying a cup of coffee instead. The following assume you did what I did, and spent the money to customize templates: 1) No ability to edit an item once added. You can add a replacement and delete the original, but your list will be out of order. 2) No ability to sort items. The app description says you can press and hold to move an item, but on the iPhone 11 Pro Max (current iOS), it doesn’t work. This makes what should be an organizational tool a complete mess. 3) Painfully short item description character limit. When trying to differentiate between similar items to pack, you’ll need to abbreviate to the point where some kind of key will be required just to remember the abbreviations. 4) Activities but no basic categories. This one left me dumbfounded. Users must either choose an existing activity, or create a new one (with the requirement to choose from a silly and limited selection of icons). Sorry, but “Clothing,” “Toiletries,” etc. would be a useless categories in this app. With no ability to sort items or make subcategories, all you get is a jumbled mess of items you can’t edit, can’t sort, and can’t group. Seriously, does anyone pack based on activity? I decide what I need based on activity, but when actually packing my bags, I grab all of my clothing, all of my toiletries, all of my tech, etc. Does anyone really pack a bathing suit, then go get sunscreen, then return to the clothing to get shirts? Great for getting more exercise by running around the house instead of efficiently packing. I decided to click on the support link to see if I was just missing something. Good StartUpdate: Big miss on shorts. Planning a beach trip, the app found that the high will be in the 80s... and decided shorts won’t be needed despite being on the essentials list. Connecting to Tripit is a no goI can’t find a way to contact customer support through the app, so unfortunately, I’m having to write it in a review with hopes that somebody who can help me reads it. I’ve got premium of this app, and I’ve tried to connect it to Tripit. Because I use a Google sign in for Tripit there is no way to connect the two apps as it only has login and password as options, not the Google logo. I have to go through full site, but the apps won’t connect if I go that way. Not Road Trip FriendlyI wanted this for an 8 day road trip especially for the weather portion. I synced with tripit and the weather and destination are all tied to one stop. I upgraded so I wouldn't have to make it 8 different trips, but it would have just been easier to go to the weather app and write down weather for each stop. InfuriatingUsed to work. One of the few apps I have paid money for. Now, the TripIt doesn’t sync and every time I leave the app and come back it erases my packing list- so I have to start over creating it and checking off what I’ve packed. Luckily I exported the list I was using the last time so I have it by email but the app is so buggy as to be absolutely worse than worthless— it would be better if I have no packing list than one that gets deleted arbitrarily after you’re relying on it! Also now even though I paid for the premium version it’s not recognizing that anymore and there is not contact for support. Totally on my own. DisappointedI was excited to try this app, and even paid. however I was very disappointed. Here are the things I found lacking. Also note, it very well could be my lack of understanding. If I am correct, then it’s more for the developer to take note and improve the app. My first problem was categories. It defaulted to order of categories. I tried moving main categories for example swimming at the bottom and work clothes at the top. Otherwise you need to rename the groups. Next within the groups you cannot move items around. You add an item it goes to the top of the list. So let’s say I add dress socks then add dress shirt, oh I want to add hiking socks but I want them next to dress socks. I can not rearrange the list.
