So BuggyI love this program; I hate this app. It is beyond buggy. One of my kids disappears on the regular. Their stars randomly disappear. And if you don’t notice that’s happened, you lose half of them because you can’t add stars more than 7 days prior. Terrible appThe website was so much easier to use and understand! The app is restrictive and confusing. We have used Book It for years (inspired by my memories as a child) and up until now it was a fun, easy way to encourage children to read. The website allowed easy signup and logging reading time and it was nice to be able to print off the award for children to see and hold. The app requires you to use your Apple login - no other options. And then it requires more information than even the state requires for homeschool children. More than the state! I have to wonder if Pizza Hut wants to phase out the program and this is just one way of winding it down without a big public press release. Make it too difficult for people to sign up, their numbers will go down, and they can simply say the program isn’t getting enough subscribers to keep it running. Pizza Hut restaurants and company used to be so iconic. And Book It was so exciting as a child. Great program turned horrible because of this appMy kids have used the book it program for at least the past 3 years and there was never been a problem up until this year when Pizza Hut decided to get up on the app craze. There have been nothing but problems (see the comments on their Facebook) and today there was an update and it now says codes can’t be redeemed until between the 1st to the 15th of each month so kids now can’t redeemed immediately and have to wait 17 days. Try explaining that to kids with special needs that they have to wait 2.5 weeks to get something they were looking forward to but of course Pizza Hut doesn’t care and probably hope families will just forget so they don’t have to cover the free pizzas..AAAAtwoodVersion: 2.7.1
It just didn’t work out for usThe Pizza Hut customer service app team tried to help to fix the glitches but in the end they couldn’t fix my current app issues. No pizza codes were ever available after pressing the finished buttons. My kids will receive incentives from myself instead of the Pizza Hut mini pizza and that is fine with me but I just want you to know that we gave up on the app. I did try other smart devices in case that was the problem. Upon logging in on new devices my account was wiped as if we didn’t ever join. I will say other companies like Barnes and Noble or Braums also have reading programs at different times of the year in the form of paper coupons. Terrible updates!I used to donate to the book it program before I had children of my own. Now I homeschool 4 children of my own. The app was nice at first but every update is less and less convenient and makes it difficult for its so called purpose which I thought was to encourage literacy and reading. Now they require you to log in each child’s progress daily to qualify for the prize pizza instead of just charting their progress at the end of the period AND you have to wait until the following month to get their pizza. Making No Sense!!!!I have personally been with Book IT! Since it first started in 1984. My children and grandchildren have all been apart of the program. However now that I am homeschooling my grandchildren they need all this information that our local state doesn’t even require! FrustratingThis program is not homeschool friendly at all.
1. It will only allow me to add some of my kids, and gives an error saying it is overloaded when I add all that qualify.
2. There are many ways to show proof of homeschool in my state, they are only accepting one proof, which is disqualifying my other homeschool kid from this program.
3. They are requiring proof of enrollment and their yearly evaluation. This is a HUGE over reach for this program. I understand proof of homeschool though it’s annoying. Needing their evals as well is too far. Are public school kids required to turn in their report cards?
4. Needing to check off days within a week is not enough time, it should be you have the whole month as it used to be.

App froze my phoneI downloaded the app in preparation for the upcoming registration opening on May 1. When I opened it, it tried to force me to login with my apple id which I never do. I tried to clear the fields and use alternative info but it wouldn’t let me. When I realized I was stuck in a loop I tried to swipe up to quit the app and it wouldn’t let me. App freezes phoneThe app automatically requires you to create an account using Apple ID. I do not want to use my Apple ID to setup my account. As a result it freezes the phone because the app will not let you exit the screen. Requiring using Apple ID to create an account is a horrible idea.
