Tally: The Anything Tracker App Comments & Reviews

Tally: The Anything Tracker Positive Reviews

Love the appI’ve used this app for a long time and really enjoy it on my phone. It’s very simple, but it does what I need it to without having it be stressful or complicated. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because on the phone, I wished it was easier to just click a button and then it would add my tally, but I have to open the app and do it. Normally, that’s not a huge difference, but being a very busy person, the extra steps are what make me forget to do it. I just got a watch, and I was hoping it would solve my issue; hoping I could just lift up my wrist and tap it when needed…but the app on the watch only shows you your progress from your phone rather than being able to tally it on there. To me, that seems useless. My hope was that having it on my watch would allow me to rely on my phone less. I don’t know if this is a bug issue or if it just never has had that capability, but I would love if it would and I think others would also be far more inclined to use this..Version: 1.22.2

Really goodThe interface is easy to use and simple, but the functionality is very flexible. Each tally can track counts or decimal numbers and they are automatically tracked over time. Combined with automatic resets of each count per day, month or year, the app makes it very easy to see progress towards goals and serves as a reminder and log about when activities were last done. I have some small complaints: 1. there seems to be no way to export the data. There are numerous reasons why one might want to do this — to save local backups and to easily input information from the app into other programs are examples. 2. The “group” feature is nice but seems not well-integrated into the user interface. The option to display tallies under common group headings and sort within groups would clean up the interface and make it easier to find each tally. Currently, all tallies are displayed on the home page with no visual separation other than color, and groups seem to only control which tallies are on or off. 3. The links to the feedback and support websites are broken within the app. This makes it seem like the app is no longer supported. Update: Version 1.22.0 adds support for backup to Dropbox and iCloud, which addresses my original complaint..Version: 1.22.0

A lifesaverI’m sitting in the hospital. I’m trying to track a lot of details. I use Tally to track how much pain medicine I get , when I walk, when I change my bandage. Keeping accurate data like this enables me to get insight into what is working and why things are happening. It helps me comply with the doctor’s orders and learn more. This way I can be a more engaged patient and share some responsibility for my care. When I go home, I will have to do many of these things myself for several weeks. I can’t just lay around and wait for a nurse to do things and ensure they are done properly. I really want to heal from my surgery. So I want to track everything I am supposed to do. This app has just the right balance of features like notes, time stamps, target goals, and more. I tried it during my first surgery 3 months ago. I used it a little. But I felt clumsy. But the second time now and I’m a pro at figuring out what to track and how. So be patient with yourself as you learn it. You may not learn all the features at once. It’s obviously good for other uses. This is just my use. And I feel so much more in control of my care..Version: 1.13.1

It’s a smooth app but not for everyoneI purchased this in a “growth bundle” with a bunch of other stuff along with “time page” and “actions” and also “Done”. The bundle is completely redundant and all tho it’s great to find what you like best, no one could use all of them or you would have no life cuz you’d just be documenting all the time😕. The apps are all smooth and beautiful and fun but just too much. You’ll end up just picking one or two. I kept DONE and Timepage. I let the growth bundle go tho. This particular one Tally is an easy fun and colorful way to keep count of anything you want and I found no problems in the way in which it worked. 👍🏼.Version: 1.10

Had problems at first but now I love itI used the free version for a couple weeks but then upgraded for the one time 3.99 fee. I’ve used other goal tracking apps with varying success, but I really like the simple, straightforward nature of this. I choose a goal like eating three servings of produce a day, and I can check my progress each day. You can set it to reset everyday, week, month, year, or never, whatever makes most sense for your goal. When I had a problem I emailed the developers and got an almost immediate response that helped me solve the problem. I find this motivating but not annoying or stressful like some goal setting things I’ve tried. I’ve heard that where performance is measured, performance improves. This app helps me keep track of my performance and progress in things that are important to me. Love it!.Version: 1.8

Love some elements, but some major drawbacksI love a lot about Tally and have used it for years, but a few things keep me from being fully satisfied: 1) ability to export to csv or other table for further analysis or combining with other tracking (perhaps those with Dropbox or iCloud have a way around this) 2) when you change time zones, the times on old entries changes too. When using the app’s interface to enter for “yesterday,” the default time for that entry is midnight. However, if you later change time zones, that can push that entry back. So when I traveled from Mountain to Pacific time, all midnight entries became 11pm entries on the prior day, giving me double tracking on one day, and a missing entry on the following. I followed up with support twice, never heard back. 3) when you look at the report view, as I do to manually transfer prior weeks into my own master tracker, you have to tap on the day to see the value. Minor but it all contributes to a general challenge with trying to aggregate this data and combine it for the more macro views I’m trying to create. I have a feeling I’m going to transition out of using tally to just using my own google form as these issues make it hard to achieve the bigger goal I have for tracking..Version: 1.24.1

Awesome App!!!I love this app. I have always known I need to track my habits and am working on several habit changes right now. I love how convenient this is to use and super user friendly. So far I have been able to do everything I want to on it. The best part is I can see how different habits impact each other. For example, I am working on doing yoga, improving my sleep and eating better. I am rating my quality of sleep using the custom input tally and see that my sleep quality is much better when I do restorative yoga right before bed. Plus I love being able to track habits I am trying to eliminate as well as ones I want to do more of. Less caffeine and processed sugar, more anti-inflammatory meals. This is awesome!.Version: 1.13.1

Lime it but there are quirksI really like this app because it's simple but there are a few issues. When you are first on a new day in the morning, everything is blank. At some point, I've not yet determined when yet, the last time you counted a block will show up. I emailed support and it's been a week with no answer as to why this is. Also, today, all of my blocks changed from being able to tap and add one to tapping and adding a custom value. That's not how they were set up. So I had to go into each block and change them all back to tap to add default value instead of custom. That was annoying as I use this app daily. Thanks for creating this, though. It's simple and effective. Just needs a few kinks worked out..Version: 1.21.9

Great all around appSo simple and efficient. The 6.99 upgrade for unlimited tallies is so worth it. Just got it and already love it. It’s exactly what I was looking for, super straightforward with zero distractions. Great for minimalists! I love that there are endless uses for this. Personally I use it as a habit tracker app, to track things like working out 6 days a week, eating a salad every day, and stretching before bed every day. But there are so many other uses for this they are practically endless. From reading other reviews I see they are also great for keeping track of stats, numbers, etc. So no matter the use it is perfect. So do yourself a favor - download this app. Get that upgrade. Trust me, it is worth it!.Version: 1.13.1

Tally is amazing for tracking Trigeminal Neuralgia painI have tried so many other apps and when you are in the middle of an attack and you then go to the doctor and she asks you “how many lightning shocks was it?” I’m always estimating because that is the last thing you want to do when you are getting struck by lightning in the face is go in and answer 20 questions to count something. With Tally I can tap my phone for every shock then download a report to print or email to my doctor! This has helped my treatment so much! This app is amazing, for 4.99 you can customize your Tally buttons and track whatever you want from pain to water intake! I can’t say enough!.Version: 1.11

PLEASE MAKE YOUR APPS ACCESSIBLE!!! Blind User.Hi Reflectly! I'm a blind user who depends on VoiceOver to use aps. I really, really want to use your apps, especially Tally. But I can't, because they do not work well with VoiceOver. It's impossible to tell what selections I've made when creating a tally. The colors are completely unlabeled. I can't figure out how to leave the stats screen or creation screen and get back to the tally screen. I've run into similar issues with your other apps. I did send an email, got a generic response, and none of the updates since then have fixed the accessibility problems. Seriously, your apps are amazing, and I really want to use them, would even pay to subscribe. Please improve how your apps work with VoiceOver!.Version: 1.21.0

Awesome appIf you like to read reviews before you purchase an app, then you are just like me. This app is simply just awesome. I’ll tell you why I love it and how I use it. I use this app everyday. I use it primarily to track my fitness goals. You can customize the app for many options. I keep track of my pushups, pull-ups, dips and various other exercises. You can see your progress for different timeframes, ie. week month and year. I have one athlete that I train for basketball and I keep track of her fitness progress as well. You can set up a filter so you can see only what you want. I’m am super happy with this purchase..Version: 1.6.1

Empowering in my IndustryThis app is incredibly useful. Data is easy to input, correct, modify, analyze, and maintain for record keeping purposes. I use it to monitor trends based on volume and time, and also as a way to make sure my numbers are in alignment with the numbers managers keep to determine what I properly owe at the end of my shifts. But this app could be used for counting anything really on a daily, weekly, monthly, and/or yearly total. The upgrade is worth every penny. And customer service is exceptionally helpful as well if needed. However, this app is super easy to use and user friendly. Love the widget too!.Version: 1.13.1

Appreciate the convenienceI really like this app and it’s support to holding me accountable for my habits and actions. I upgraded to premium today & I’m happy with being able to create unlimited tally’s. Though there is a bug that is causing my widget to not properly work. I have about 10 tally’s registered in the app but the widget on my Home Screen says “not habits yet, tap to create your first habit”. The widget feature is the most important part about this app and it hasn’t been working for me -1star but otherwise I appreciate the help of this app!.Version: 1.21.14

Great App - Great SupportI've been using the app for a few months and it's been working well for me. I've tried a number of these types of apps and like the interface and behavior of Tally the best. I used the free version for a couple months, and finally upgraded about a month ago so I could create more tallies. I had a bug where the Apple watch app wasn't updating and support quickly reached out to help me (it's resolved and only happened one time, restarting the watch fixed it, and support also mentioned reinstalling would do the trick of a restart didn't.).Version: 1.13.1

Tally has Add Count but no Subtract Count!I have given 5 stars in past but there is a design thinking problem going on here in the latest update. Tally is a cool simple yet powerful app. There's a lot to love about it. I've been an app developer for year so I appreciate the simplicity. That said, I can think of no design reason for not allowing the user to subtract a count if you have added an extra count by mistake… It completely ruins the data if you are managing a habit tightly to the counter. You used to have it in an earlier version. What gives? I also, see a lot of other reviews complaining about a bunch of issues from the previous update like not being able to export CSV's. I think it is risky for your business making changes where you remove key functionality yet still charge $29 a year. People will just cancel. You are at a price point where people expect these features. Can you please fix that ASAP? Or I will cancel my subscription and find something else..Version: 1.22.0

Perfect for what I need it for!Love love love this app. Had to figure out how to use the journal (tap in the colored area not the white area) but once I figured that out, I’m all in on this! I have to tally certain things in my job each day and I’m finding this to be the perfect quick tool to do so. Rather than having to pull up a spreadsheet, this is ideal because I have it with me at all times and on my desk to quickly log the things I need to track as they occur. After each month I can then export the entire results to a spreadsheet and submit it. It’s perfect!.Version: 1.9.1

ALMOST PerfectPerfect isn't a word I use often for an app, so that this one is very nearly there is a rarity for me. My challenge: I want to be able to record when something occurred, all instances of when it occurred, notes for outliers and the last time that event occurred. I also need to be able to export that data for review elsewhere for review. Tally does all of this and more. Additional features I'd like to see (and be willing to pay above the Tally: Premium fee. 1. To be able to enter a time when entering a previous occurrence 2. Change the bottom text on the dashboard to choose the "last occurrence" instead of "last update". So if I forgot to update "Bought Mom Flowers" when it happened two days ago I could enter and the dash would show "2 days" instead of "0 minutes" ago. 3. Adding items to "groups" and filter based on "group" Cheers for an app that now lives prominently on my home screen!.Version: 1.4

Literally Changing My Life!!This app is literally changing my life for the better... no BS. Every single day I use it to score myself against my New Years resolutions. Absolutely LOVE this app. Thanks to Kev Rose for the tip!! ASK: if you want me to be a walking advertisement of Tally, PLEASE ad feature to show/hide multiple groups. Right now you can only show ALL or show one group. I’d like to show all of my groups except one... not possible! So I literally can’t show people the app to brag about it... as one group includes my private goals... that I don’t want people to see..Version: 1.9.1

Sweet & simpleI’ve been searching through apps to keep track of habits/goals for a few days, and finally stumbled upon this one. This app has a beautifully minimal and responsive design and can be personalized to fit anything you want to keep track of. It feels very unique from the standard habit tracker formula on most other apps, which I like a lot. After giving both Tally and Done a shot, I decided to stick with Tally & go for the paid upgrade (I enjoyed the layout/versatility of this one more) and am loving it! The journaling and statistics functions are a big plus for me. I think some nice improvements could be: - having a separate tab for progress on long-term goals - adding new designs/animations for when these goals are met - incorporating more illustrations (they’re beautiful!) or having “Tally” be an interactive character/AI response for daily use of the app.Version: 1.7

Wonderful App except one issueWonderful app! A beautiful design, easy to use, lovely layout and concept and a good way to keep track of habits and tasks. However/ sadly whenever I tried to have the widget on the screen it would only be blank saying the widget would say there’s no habits?? So I could never see it on my main screen which was one of the main things I was looking/hoping for.Version: 1.22.1

Not too bad but, In App Purchase is neededI was actually very impressed when I tried this app. I started to get everything set-up and dialled in the way I wanted. For many years, I have been using the Apple Reminders app for my daily tracking. I was seriously thinking about switching to this app. That was until I realized you can only track 3 habits in the free version. Anymore than that and you’ll be faced with a $9 payment barrier..Version: 1.13.1

Love it BUT too many bugsThe app is great, but after a few day of using it the widget stopped working and I can't log anything in the app anymore it doesnt do anything... would love that to be fixed since I paid for the premium version.Version: 1.23.0

Truly one of the best apps I’ve ever used! Love the simplicity!!!Right now I’m using this app to track medications, mine and my pugs. But there are so many other possibilities that I know it will come in handy in other areas of my life. What I love? The simplicity … both in using the app and the uncluttered screen at any given time. Very easy to use with all the information I might want to share with my doctor at a press of the button. Especially for medications that are considered “as needed”. I’ve tried many apps in the past, nothing stuck with me past a few days. They just weren’t user friendly in the way that Tally is. Thank you so much for creating this app! I couldn’t be more appreciative 😊!.Version: 1.22.1

GeniusI’ve tried many other habit or goal oriented apps that I always stop using as they are overly complicated or take too much effort to use everyday. I had resorted to manual tracking in the calendar app. This app is so simple and I keep thinking of more things to use this for. At first I wished that there was a way to differentiate between things I’m trying to stop vs things I’m trying to do or accomplish but that was easily solved by colour coding (e.g red vs green). And so quick to enter things, literally the tap of a button. I like the graphs to view trends and the ability to make notes. It is really helping me to be mindful of my thoughts, feelings and actions. It can replace several types of apps. You can track goals, lifestyle habits, nutrition, body measurements, spending, mood tracker and probably a lot more. I don’t think I would pay $40 for the app so will cancel if that becomes required, but I think $7.50 was a very reasonable price to pay for what you get..Version: 1.22.1

Exactly what I neededThis app is exactly what it says it is. The UI is intuitive and easy to use and the widget is handy. I love the visualization of the data. It’s just perfect. The only minor glitch is when you press the plus sign in the widget and the app isn’t running in the background it will open up and then immediately crash. However, if the app is running it’ll work well. Hopefully in the future the the developer will make it work without opening the app at all. But I digress. 5 stars all the way..Version: 1.22.1

Great app for tracking anythingEasy to tally one of anything and also easy to add any number, even with decimals. Two oddities: it always thinks it’s today when you open the app. Even if you are still looking at yesterday. It also lets you look at previous months and years if you are reviewing graphs for all tallied items, but won’t let you go back if you are only looking at a specific item. Hope they fix those someday and also let you export or back up your data like the earlier versions did..Version: 1.21.8

Needs updatingMore glitches lately and widgets do not show on ipad mini 6.Version: 1.22.0

Awesome, butI had an apple watch series 3 and I could add a count to a tally on my watch but it won't let me anymore on my series 6.Version: 1.21.14

Apple Watch app doesn’t workI try to click a tally and nothing happens even after resetting it. It also takes forever to sync with tallies I do on my phone. :(.Version: 1.21.14

A big fan of this appHave yet to find another app that allows for such clean habit tracking. It’s intuitive and rewarding to use daily. The ability to enter notes means I can use it like a journal as well (it also time stamps everything). I even have a counter for ‘mood’ where I can use it as a mood tracker and enter the emoji as a note. On top of this, I was having issues at one point after using the app for a year. I emailed customer support and they replied quickly with a fix that I hadn’t been able to figure out. Appreciate the friendliness of their staff, too!.Version: 1.21.14

I got it to count cats but its been a lot more helpful than i thought it'd beIve been using this to count cats i see on walks (fav use for it), keep track of how/when i use public transit (so i know how much per month on average my 10 passes are costing me), and keeping track of when i eat something (since i struggle with remembering to eat)! u can set it to show when the last time u added something was which is wicked helpful and grounding to b able to see, esp for tracking when i eat. u can also increment ur tallies from ur widgets space which has been really nice even if a bit annoying that it opens the app in order to do this. i think some more advanced data analysis/exporting tools would be *really* helpful, but im really enjoying whats here :).Version: 1.21.14

Developers! Please contact me!Hi! Love the growth bundle. I deleted it off my phone and now I can’t restore my purchase. I paid for the lifetime of the apps. l will consider removing more stars if I can’t get in contact. I have emailed you, but no luck. Will also add a star if we can fix this issue..Version: 1.21.3

Pretty sure I paid for full-featured app.So why is it now subscription-based?.Version: 1.21.4

Good but could use some upgradingOverall pretty handy app. I’d recommend being able to add to your tally from the widget itself and not have to open the app. Also, to be able to add to your tally on your Apple Watch. You can only seem to view it..Version: 1.20.0
