Tally: The Anything Tracker Positive Reviews
Love the appI’ve used this app for a long time and really enjoy it on my phone. It’s very simple, but it does what I need it to without having it be stressful or complicated.
The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because on the phone, I wished it was easier to just click a button and then it would add my tally, but I have to open the app and do it. Normally, that’s not a huge difference, but being a very busy person, the extra steps are what make me forget to do it. I just got a watch, and I was hoping it would solve my issue; hoping I could just lift up my wrist and tap it when needed…but the app on the watch only shows you your progress from your phone rather than being able to tally it on there. To me, that seems useless. My hope was that having it on my watch would allow me to rely on my phone less. I don’t know if this is a bug issue or if it just never has had that capability, but I would love if it would and I think others would also be far more inclined to use this..Glm__Version: 1.22.2
Really goodThe interface is easy to use and simple, but the functionality is very flexible. Each tally can track counts or decimal numbers and they are automatically tracked over time. Combined with automatic resets of each count per day, month or year, the app makes it very easy to see progress towards goals and serves as a reminder and log about when activities were last done. I have some small complaints: 1. there seems to be no way to export the data. There are numerous reasons why one might want to do this — to save local backups and to easily input information from the app into other programs are examples. 2. The “group” feature is nice but seems not well-integrated into the user interface. The option to display tallies under common group headings and sort within groups would clean up the interface and make it easier to find each tally. Currently, all tallies are displayed on the home page with no visual separation other than color, and groups seem to only control which tallies are on or off. 3. The links to the feedback and support websites are broken within the app. This makes it seem like the app is no longer supported.
Update: Version 1.22.0 adds support for backup to Dropbox and iCloud, which addresses my original complaint..LkulopVersion: 1.22.0
A lifesaverI’m sitting in the hospital. I’m trying to track a lot of details. I use Tally to track how much pain medicine I get , when I walk, when I change my bandage. Keeping accurate data like this enables me to get insight into what is working and why things are happening. It helps me comply with the doctor’s orders and learn more. This way I can be a more engaged patient and share some responsibility for my care. When I go home, I will have to do many of these things myself for several weeks. I can’t just lay around and wait for a nurse to do things and ensure they are done properly. I really want to heal from my surgery. So I want to track everything I am supposed to do. This app has just the right balance of features like notes, time stamps, target goals, and more. I tried it during my first surgery 3 months ago. I used it a little. But I felt clumsy. But the second time now and I’m a pro at figuring out what to track and how. So be patient with yourself as you learn it. You may not learn all the features at once.
It’s obviously good for other uses. This is just my use. And I feel so much more in control of my care..Davey468664Version: 1.13.1
It’s a smooth app but not for everyoneI purchased this in a “growth bundle” with a bunch of other stuff along with “time page” and “actions” and also “Done”. The bundle is completely redundant and all tho it’s great to find what you like best, no one could use all of them or you would have no life cuz you’d just be documenting all the time😕.
The apps are all smooth and beautiful and fun but just too much. You’ll end up just picking one or two. I kept DONE and Timepage.
I let the growth bundle go tho. This particular one Tally is an easy fun and colorful way to keep count of anything you want and I found no problems in the way in which it worked. 👍🏼.Krotch341aVersion: 1.10
Had problems at first but now I love itI used the free version for a couple weeks but then upgraded for the one time 3.99 fee. I’ve used other goal tracking apps with varying success, but I really like the simple, straightforward nature of this. I choose a goal like eating three servings of produce a day, and I can check my progress each day. You can set it to reset everyday, week, month, year, or never, whatever makes most sense for your goal. When I had a problem I emailed the developers and got an almost immediate response that helped me solve the problem. I find this motivating but not annoying or stressful like some goal setting things I’ve tried. I’ve heard that where performance is measured, performance improves. This app helps me keep track of my performance and progress in things that are important to me. Love it!.Charmed Life 9Version: 1.8
Love some elements, but some major drawbacksI love a lot about Tally and have used it for years, but a few things keep me from being fully satisfied:
1) ability to export to csv or other table for further analysis or combining with other tracking (perhaps those with Dropbox or iCloud have a way around this)
2) when you change time zones, the times on old entries changes too. When using the app’s interface to enter for “yesterday,” the default time for that entry is midnight. However, if you later change time zones, that can push that entry back. So when I traveled from Mountain to Pacific time, all midnight entries became 11pm entries on the prior day, giving me double tracking on one day, and a missing entry on the following. I followed up with support twice, never heard back.
3) when you look at the report view, as I do to manually transfer prior weeks into my own master tracker, you have to tap on the day to see the value. Minor but it all contributes to a general challenge with trying to aggregate this data and combine it for the more macro views I’m trying to create.
I have a feeling I’m going to transition out of using tally to just using my own google form as these issues make it hard to achieve the bigger goal I have for tracking..PtwasVersion: 1.24.1
Awesome App!!!I love this app. I have always known I need to track my habits and am working on several habit changes right now. I love how convenient this is to use and super user friendly. So far I have been able to do everything I want to on it. The best part is I can see how different habits impact each other. For example, I am working on doing yoga, improving my sleep and eating better. I am rating my quality of sleep using the custom input tally and see that my sleep quality is much better when I do restorative yoga right before bed. Plus I love being able to track habits I am trying to eliminate as well as ones I want to do more of. Less caffeine and processed sugar, more anti-inflammatory meals. This is awesome!.CouragecoachVersion: 1.13.1
Lime it but there are quirksI really like this app because it's simple but there are a few issues. When you are first on a new day in the morning, everything is blank. At some point, I've not yet determined when yet, the last time you counted a block will show up. I emailed support and it's been a week with no answer as to why this is.
Also, today, all of my blocks changed from being able to tap and add one to tapping and adding a custom value. That's not how they were set up. So I had to go into each block and change them all back to tap to add default value instead of custom. That was annoying as I use this app daily.
Thanks for creating this, though. It's simple and effective. Just needs a few kinks worked out..StinianneVersion: 1.21.9
Great all around appSo simple and efficient. The 6.99 upgrade for unlimited tallies is so worth it. Just got it and already love it. It’s exactly what I was looking for, super straightforward with zero distractions. Great for minimalists!
I love that there are endless uses for this. Personally I use it as a habit tracker app, to track things like working out 6 days a week, eating a salad every day, and stretching before bed every day. But there are so many other uses for this they are practically endless. From reading other reviews I see they are also great for keeping track of stats, numbers, etc. So no matter the use it is perfect.
So do yourself a favor - download this app. Get that upgrade. Trust me, it is worth it!.Hannah reviewsVersion: 1.13.1
Tally is amazing for tracking Trigeminal Neuralgia painI have tried so many other apps and when you are in the middle of an attack and you then go to the doctor and she asks you “how many lightning shocks was it?” I’m always estimating because that is the last thing you want to do when you are getting struck by lightning in the face is go in and answer 20 questions to count something. With Tally I can tap my phone for every shock then download a report to print or email to my doctor! This has helped my treatment so much!
This app is amazing, for 4.99 you can customize your Tally buttons and track whatever you want from pain to water intake! I can’t say enough!.MelanieTrujequeVersion: 1.11
PLEASE MAKE YOUR APPS ACCESSIBLE!!! Blind User.Hi Reflectly! I'm a blind user who depends on VoiceOver to use aps. I really, really want to use your apps, especially Tally. But I can't, because they do not work well with VoiceOver. It's impossible to tell what selections I've made when creating a tally. The colors are completely unlabeled. I can't figure out how to leave the stats screen or creation screen and get back to the tally screen. I've run into similar issues with your other apps. I did send an email, got a generic response, and none of the updates since then have fixed the accessibility problems. Seriously, your apps are amazing, and I really want to use them, would even pay to subscribe. Please improve how your apps work with VoiceOver!.PickyJJVersion: 1.21.0
Awesome appIf you like to read reviews before you purchase an app, then you are just like me. This app is simply just awesome. I’ll tell you why I love it and how I use it.
I use this app everyday. I use it primarily to track my fitness goals. You can customize the app for many options. I keep track of my pushups, pull-ups, dips and various other exercises. You can see your progress for different timeframes, ie. week month and year.
I have one athlete that I train for basketball and I keep track of her fitness progress as well. You can set up a filter so you can see only what you want. I’m am super happy with this purchase..Tangled thoughtsVersion: 1.6.1
Empowering in my IndustryThis app is incredibly useful. Data is easy to input, correct, modify, analyze, and maintain for record keeping purposes. I use it to monitor trends based on volume and time, and also as a way to make sure my numbers are in alignment with the numbers managers keep to determine what I properly owe at the end of my shifts. But this app could be used for counting anything really on a daily, weekly, monthly, and/or yearly total. The upgrade is worth every penny. And customer service is exceptionally helpful as well if needed. However, this app is super easy to use and user friendly. Love the widget too!.Katy the butcherVersion: 1.13.1
Appreciate the convenienceI really like this app and it’s support to holding me accountable for my habits and actions. I upgraded to premium today & I’m happy with being able to create unlimited tally’s.
Though there is a bug that is causing my widget to not properly work. I have about 10 tally’s registered in the app but the widget on my Home Screen says “not habits yet, tap to create your first habit”. The widget feature is the most important part about this app and it hasn’t been working for me -1star but otherwise I appreciate the help of this app!.Lailani111Version: 1.21.14
Great App - Great SupportI've been using the app for a few months and it's been working well for me. I've tried a number of these types of apps and like the interface and behavior of Tally the best. I used the free version for a couple months, and finally upgraded about a month ago so I could create more tallies. I had a bug where the Apple watch app wasn't updating and support quickly reached out to help me (it's resolved and only happened one time, restarting the watch fixed it, and support also mentioned reinstalling would do the trick of a restart didn't.).A7bg42Version: 1.13.1
Tally has Add Count but no Subtract Count!I have given 5 stars in past but there is a design thinking problem going on here in the latest update.
Tally is a cool simple yet powerful app. There's a lot to love about it. I've been an app developer for year so I appreciate the simplicity.
That said, I can think of no design reason for not allowing the user to subtract a count if you have added an extra count by mistake… It completely ruins the data if you are managing a habit tightly to the counter. You used to have it in an earlier version. What gives?
I also, see a lot of other reviews complaining about a bunch of issues from the previous update like not being able to export CSV's. I think it is risky for your business making changes where you remove key functionality yet still charge $29 a year. People will just cancel. You are at a price point where people expect these features.
Can you please fix that ASAP? Or I will cancel my subscription and find something else..BobbytartanVersion: 1.22.0
Perfect for what I need it for!Love love love this app. Had to figure out how to use the journal (tap in the colored area not the white area) but once I figured that out, I’m all in on this! I have to tally certain things in my job each day and I’m finding this to be the perfect quick tool to do so. Rather than having to pull up a spreadsheet, this is ideal because I have it with me at all times and on my desk to quickly log the things I need to track as they occur. After each month I can then export the entire results to a spreadsheet and submit it. It’s perfect!.VSOautaugaCoVersion: 1.9.1
ALMOST PerfectPerfect isn't a word I use often for an app, so that this one is very nearly there is a rarity for me. My challenge: I want to be able to record when something occurred, all instances of when it occurred, notes for outliers and the last time that event occurred. I also need to be able to export that data for review elsewhere for review. Tally does all of this and more.
Additional features I'd like to see (and be willing to pay above the Tally: Premium fee.
1. To be able to enter a time when entering a previous occurrence
2. Change the bottom text on the dashboard to choose the "last occurrence" instead of "last update". So if I forgot to update "Bought Mom Flowers" when it happened two days ago I could enter and the dash would show "2 days" instead of "0 minutes" ago.
3. Adding items to "groups" and filter based on "group"
Cheers for an app that now lives prominently on my home screen!.TackdaddyVersion: 1.4
Literally Changing My Life!!This app is literally changing my life for the better... no BS. Every single day I use it to score myself against my New Years resolutions. Absolutely LOVE this app. Thanks to Kev Rose for the tip!!
ASK: if you want me to be a walking advertisement of Tally, PLEASE ad feature to show/hide multiple groups. Right now you can only show ALL or show one group. I’d like to show all of my groups except one... not possible! So I literally can’t show people the app to brag about it... as one group includes my private goals... that I don’t want people to see..AdultSwimFanVersion: 1.9.1
Sweet & simpleI’ve been searching through apps to keep track of habits/goals for a few days, and finally stumbled upon this one. This app has a beautifully minimal and responsive design and can be personalized to fit anything you want to keep track of. It feels very unique from the standard habit tracker formula on most other apps, which I like a lot. After giving both Tally and Done a shot, I decided to stick with Tally & go for the paid upgrade (I enjoyed the layout/versatility of this one more) and am loving it! The journaling and statistics functions are a big plus for me.
I think some nice improvements could be:
- having a separate tab for progress on long-term goals
- adding new designs/animations for when these goals are met
- incorporating more illustrations (they’re beautiful!) or having “Tally” be an interactive character/AI response for daily use of the app.TammybanVersion: 1.7
Wonderful App except one issueWonderful app! A beautiful design, easy to use, lovely layout and concept and a good way to keep track of habits and tasks. However/ sadly whenever I tried to have the widget on the screen it would only be blank saying the widget would say there’s no habits?? So I could never see it on my main screen which was one of the main things I was looking/hoping for.Emgem95Version: 1.22.1
Not too bad but, In App Purchase is neededI was actually very impressed when I tried this app. I started to get everything set-up and dialled in the way I wanted. For many years, I have been using the Apple Reminders app for my daily tracking. I was seriously thinking about switching to this app.
That was until I realized you can only track 3 habits in the free version. Anymore than that and you’ll be faced with a $9 payment barrier..Nick_DuffVersion: 1.13.1
Love it BUT too many bugsThe app is great, but after a few day of using it the widget stopped working and I can't log anything in the app anymore it doesnt do anything... would love that to be fixed since I paid for the premium version.Gabydou280813Version: 1.23.0
Truly one of the best apps I’ve ever used! Love the simplicity!!!Right now I’m using this app to track medications, mine and my pugs. But there are so many other possibilities that I know it will come in handy in other areas of my life. What I love? The simplicity … both in using the app and the uncluttered screen at any given time. Very easy to use with all the information I might want to share with my doctor at a press of the button. Especially for medications that are considered “as needed”. I’ve tried many apps in the past, nothing stuck with me past a few days. They just weren’t user friendly in the way that Tally is. Thank you so much for creating this app! I couldn’t be more appreciative 😊!.Kkr33Version: 1.22.1
GeniusI’ve tried many other habit or goal oriented apps that I always stop using as they are overly complicated or take too much effort to use everyday. I had resorted to manual tracking in the calendar app.
This app is so simple and I keep thinking of more things to use this for. At first I wished that there was a way to differentiate between things I’m trying to stop vs things I’m trying to do or accomplish but that was easily solved by colour coding (e.g red vs green). And so quick to enter things, literally the tap of a button.
I like the graphs to view trends and the ability to make notes. It is really helping me to be mindful of my thoughts, feelings and actions.
It can replace several types of apps. You can track goals, lifestyle habits, nutrition, body measurements, spending, mood tracker and probably a lot more.
I don’t think I would pay $40 for the app so will cancel if that becomes required, but I think $7.50 was a very reasonable price to pay for what you get..Rolibu78Version: 1.22.1
Exactly what I neededThis app is exactly what it says it is. The UI is intuitive and easy to use and the widget is handy. I love the visualization of the data. It’s just perfect. The only minor glitch is when you press the plus sign in the widget and the app isn’t running in the background it will open up and then immediately crash. However, if the app is running it’ll work well. Hopefully in the future the the developer will make it work without opening the app at all. But I digress. 5 stars all the way..Alex BoukinVersion: 1.22.1
Great app for tracking anythingEasy to tally one of anything and also easy to add any number, even with decimals.
Two oddities: it always thinks it’s today when you open the app. Even if you are still looking at yesterday.
It also lets you look at previous months and years if you are reviewing graphs for all tallied items, but won’t let you go back if you are only looking at a specific item.
Hope they fix those someday and also let you export or back up your data like the earlier versions did..David 164678Version: 1.21.8

A big fan of this appHave yet to find another app that allows for such clean habit tracking. It’s intuitive and rewarding to use daily. The ability to enter notes means I can use it like a journal as well (it also time stamps everything). I even have a counter for ‘mood’ where I can use it as a mood tracker and enter the emoji as a note.
On top of this, I was having issues at one point after using the app for a year. I emailed customer support and they replied quickly with a fix that I hadn’t been able to figure out. Appreciate the friendliness of their staff, too!.CJhomeworkVersion: 1.21.14
I got it to count cats but its been a lot more helpful than i thought it'd beIve been using this to count cats i see on walks (fav use for it), keep track of how/when i use public transit (so i know how much per month on average my 10 passes are costing me), and keeping track of when i eat something (since i struggle with remembering to eat)!
u can set it to show when the last time u added something was which is wicked helpful and grounding to b able to see, esp for tracking when i eat. u can also increment ur tallies from ur widgets space which has been really nice even if a bit annoying that it opens the app in order to do this. i think some more advanced data analysis/exporting tools would be *really* helpful, but im really enjoying whats here :).CelechiiVersion: 1.21.14

Tally: The Anything Tracker Negative Reviews
Something has gone awryI've used Tally for going on two years and until recently it was there best counter/tracking app I've found. Siri shortcuts, great widget (the original kind), and a simple interface with tons of customization and options. And such fast communication from the developer and support! Usually I test an app for awhile but with this one I immediately purchased the premium upgrade (I should note that this was back when it was sold for a one-time payment). So why the low score?
Last week everything reset. My counts are still there but all the premium features are gone, the old style widget disappeared, my settings were a mess, and it won't even reset the daily counts at midnight unless you force close and restart the app. I've tried reaching out to customer support but can't get a response. Before this I would have said the app is worth far more than 5 stars. My problem is that this is a big issue and I haven't been able to get any help. Being able to get support when there's a problem is as important to me as the functionality and features of the app itself. Right now the support is lacking and the functionality I've come to expect has been severely impacted. I earnestly hope this is just a glitch or mistake that can be rectified because the app itself is truly remarkable and I haven't found anything out there that compares..BlackwylfVersion: 1.21.1
Updates constantly ruin this app - I’m done ✌️Don’t bother with this app, and definitely don’t pay for a subscription, unless you enjoy losing features without warning and constantly being frustrated with what should be a basic, dependable app. I tried relying on this app for a year but updates for “bug fixes and performance improvements” constantly wipe away beloved and important features and the time stamps are not always accurate (and non-existent if you want to mark a tally after midnight for that day). The latest update no longer allows you to simply click on a tally to add to its count - kinda the whole point of the app. Now instead you have to manually type in the number of tallies you want to add. Previous updates removed the ability to add notes when creating a new tally (like for instructions) and the ability customize the time your day begins/ends. Other updates have also deleted entire tally histories, the ability to sort your tallies in a custom order, shortened the allotted tally title length, among others (features which were later restored after many customer complaints but never should have disappeared in the first place). I used this app to track medication but can’t rely on it and I shouldn’t be frustrated with a basic app who’s sole purpose is counting. I gave it nearly a year of chances but finally cancelled my subscription for another app I can actually trust and count on 😉.Julessss0342222Version: 1.21.9
$60 Subscription! NO Get THIS instead! These guys must be joking wanting $60 for a year subscription for this app after the first year being $5.99. And the app does NOT let you subtract counts! This is a big deal because it is easy to accidentally add a count by mistake. The ONLY way to reset the count is to delete the habit and start over, huh?! Instead I found something much much better and only $3.99 to buy (free version to try). NO subscription. It’s called “Tally Counter and Habit Tracker”, Orange icon. Functions in a very similar way but actually works and doesn’t gouge you crazy. No, I am not the developer, I was just so ecstatic to find it after dealing with this Tally app and its ridiculousness and obscene pricing scheme and not being able to subtract counts. I’ve only messed with Tally Counter and Habit Tracker a little while but it is definitely better than this app by far with a lot more functionality and better charts and graphs and the like. Do not give this developer your money, send a message that us consumers won’t be taken advantage of. Fair is fair and $6 for the first year and then $60 the year after that is an outrage. This app should be $6 to buy if that let alone $60 for one year.Marshall_110Version: 1.24.5
Missing a few featuresI love how simple the app is and keeping a tally of habits has helped me achieve some goals 😃
There’s a few features that are missing that would make this a 5-star app: 1) the ability to delete a tally when you add one by mistake. 2) the ability to add one on a previous day that you did something but forgot to tally it (one goal-setting concept is shooting for a streak of days in a row, which is easy to see on the Tally charts as long as you stay up with making your marks, but if you forget then the streak is harder to see). 3) this one isn’t quite as important, but as a visual person, I would like the option to see an actual accumulation of tally marks vs. just a number - ie llll instead of 4. It feels like you’ve accomplished more when you see a representation of just how many times you’ve done something.
The final reason I gave it 2-stars is because the widget doesn’t work right. The count that shows on the widget doesn’t match the actual count inside the app and when you click + on the widget, the number on the widget doesn’t go up - though the count inside the app does..ColoMtnGirlVersion: 1.24.1
Cost of subscription is ridiculousI like this app. Clean, easy interface, great sounds, nice tracking stats. I wish there were a couple of additional features - like specifying the decimal places in a custom tally (why have two decimals if I’m just adding a .5 tally each time?), and the ability to set both good AND bad goals - tallies you want to reach and tallies you want to stay below - with different sounds/graphics (one good type and one bad type) that play if you reach the goal.
My main gripe is the cost of this app. $30 for premium? Per year?? Come on. This is a glorified counter with some basic data frequency tracking and visualization. It should be a single payment of $3, max. For $30 per year, I expect to be getting new content regularly or at least some interaction with a snazzy AI.
I’d even be happy with in-app purchases in the free version. Like, say I’m using the 3 free counters and I want a fourth; I’d consider paying $.99 for an additional counter. But a renewing subscription for this app is ridiculous..KC029Version: 1.17.0
The Ultimate AppI started on my personal mastery journey in 2019. I wanted to do so much, improve on so many fronts and give up so many things that it all started getting overwhelming. So I started my search to simplify things without giving up on them. On the digital front, after trying out more than a dozen apps, I went all out with Tally.
I used it to track habits that I wanted to create, to health metrics I wanted to track, to my wheel of life, to mood data (a total of 75 metrics). What gets measured gets managed. I analyzed my data on the app, exported it to do regressions, and have improved ever since every month. And I believe Tally (and Done) has played a major part in my transformation.
And then the update came along 2 weeks ago. The interface has changed, I don’t like it personally but I could understand this is the aesthetic direction the developer wishes to take. But data is now difficult to log, data entered tends to disappear, data is doubled in some instances, I can no longer find an export option, the statistics section does not correlate with the group currently open and the statistics section is too bulky to analyze in detail. This App was a 5 star for me. I really don’t want to go through the process of switching over everything to another app so I am hoping that Tally understands not all changes are good and it’s alright to step back some times.

Great, while it lasted, but BEWARE...!!!UPDATE: The Apple Watch has not been working for months. I’ve given up with this company; they never respond to my concerns. I’ve found another Tracking app that uses Buttons. Simple, but it works just great…
I’ve been using the premium version of this app for months. While using the app, it would prompt me to “download to iCloud”, which I ALWAYS did. Then, all of a sudden, all of my tasks disappeared! So. I contacted “Support”. That was over 4 weeks ago and I have yet to have ANY of my data restored. They say. that they are working on the problem “day & night”, but at this point, I honestly. don’t believe them any more. The fact is that there is NO WAY within the app settings, to restore or download data and there is no indication where in iCloud the data is stored. I will happily update this review if this ever gets resolved, but until then I canNOT recommend this app to anyone. When you pay for something, you expect to get something in return. Not just lip service....PharmDroid2Version: 1.22.2
Hoping to get the developers attentionI am reading this app as one star not because I think that’s what it deserves but because I’m hoping to get the attention of the developers or somebody from their support team to get back to me on an issue I’ve had with the app as far as the subscription fee. I have been getting offers for a reduced price for quite a while now, but whenever I try to claim the offer, it shows the full amount I would be charged annually for the app and I can’t figure out how to get the special price being offered, or if that price will be applied when I agreed to the subscription. I don’t want to agree to it and then be charged the amount shown, so I’m hoping I can get a response here on what I can do to claim the offer. I actually really like this app and I hope I can get the reduced subscription price but I’m not sure if or how it’s possible..CourtC85Version: 1.24.4
Terrible useless app used to be essentialI cannot believe what the developers did to this app! Was a loyal Pro user and now they’ve gotten greedy and gone subscription while charging the big bucks to Pro users and ruining what was a great app. Best feature was exporting to CSV and now that’s gone. Have lost years of data now, trapped. App performance is terrible and laggy. My defaults were changed. The fonts are hard to read. Don’t like the blue background in dark mode. Some of my notes are out of chronological order. The graphs are hard to read. User experience and GUI are now very much trial and error as I stumble about trying to figure out how to do things. Dont download this piece of crap. This was one of my most used apps and I recommended it to many friends for its many features but I will recommend no longer. Time to start typing data in a spreadsheet, folks!.Radio in the HeadVersion: 1.21.9
Still broken!!I've been using Tally for 1.5yrs to track medications and amount of rest I get. Used to love the app but the recent version that upgraded the interface broke a lot of existing features.
I see that you're trying to clean up the mess but until you put back in the ability to edit an existing entry for quantity + time/date, and fix the issue where new items can only be tracked using NOW() for date/time during database insert -- there's no way to change the date or the time on new entries so if I take a medication and don't enter it into tally until an hour or two later then it gets into the database with the wrong time, messing up my ability to know how long it's been since the actual last dose. Why the date and time picking widget was remove I cannot fathom.
And why, WHY does a tally's history log start in November of last year instead of showing the tabulated entries for the current day?! I don't need to look at Nov entries first, then yesterday, then the day before, etc. It needs to start at TODAY.
I hate that you broke this perfectly good app. I'm not upgrading Moody ever again now, that's the other critical app in my personal life and I fear you dev team could have ruined it just like you did with Tally 🤦🏼♀️.Helga KaltenbrunnerVersion: 1.21.1
New version a disappointmentI’ve been using Tally daily for more than two years. Anytime I think of trying another habit tracker, I run them head-to-head and end up sticking with Tally every time because of the simplicity. But I recently updated the app...and now I think it might be time to move on. It runs way slower, the titles don’t really fit neatly in the tiles, the size of the circles doesn’t accurately show the values when looking back over the data, and most of the open screen is taken up by requests to upgrade to premium.
I’ll see if things improve over the next week or so (the last four weeks have had updates but that have identical descriptions), but then it seems like it is time to move on. It had a good run. I’m not mad, just disappointed..SynMycoVersion: 1.21.1
Hard to Cancel SubscriptionI really enjoyed the app but have become very much frustrated trying to cancel my subscription. There is no way to do so directly from the app or if there is it’s completely hidden. I have clicked on every button in the app to see if I could to unsubscribe to no avail. I HAVE EMAILED TWICE within the last 14 days to the email on the app and with what’s linked on this app page. Unless this can get resolved, I WOULDN’T RECOMMEND SUBSCRIBING to their services at all. I hate I have to go to this means to hopefully get a response. I have whatever picture proof someone could need to show that I have emailed them. HOPING TO HEAR BACK SOON or I’ll have to go and request my credit card company to deny any future payments from them. All I want is to unsubscribe. I’ve never had to go this far with any other subscription service ever..Mackinley QuastVersion: 1.24.4
A mess[Update] Months later and still no fix. I had gotten a developer respons to my original review and I was told that they are aware of the issue. But after all this time still no fix. I have not regretted in a long time paying for a subscription, but now I do. The frustrating part is that it used to work just fine on the watch. I have deleted and reinstalled the app numerous times on watch and phone are updated to the latest version and still no go. Absolutely useless. Used to be a great app but now it’s a mess. 1) The haptic counter on watch isn’t working since several months. 2) The list of counts and notes has a whacky sorting, entries for 2020 are intermingled and the current day is somewhere further down. 3) You no longer can edit a count. Used to be able to adjust the time of a count, no longer..McomteVersion: 1.21.14
Constantly Taking Away Great FeaturesI’ve never used an app that has progressively gotten worse and worse over time. I have no idea why but over the 3+ years I’ve used the app, they’ve taken away more and more features. It used to be so helpful. You could set it to what times you want a “day” to be (very helpful as someone who is often adding counts after midnight) and it used to show your goal amounts at the bottom. There was a lot more customization. Now the settings consists of five toggles for useless options (one is literally if you want to see the help button or not. Who cares??) and a bunch of support links that don’t work (and have never worked the entire time I’ve been a user). There is no way to report bugs or reach out to the developers. Save yourself the heartache, choose a different app..Ionamaroq3000Version: 1.24.0
New updates = less featuresI loved using the Tally app however with its recent updates, so much of the functionality is gone. I paid for the upgraded version a while back so I could use more tally boxes. However with the last updates, I am no longer to create tally’s and now it’s telling me I have to upgrade again. Before, you were also able to click on a day and see what the total number count was but they took that functionality away too so all you get is the overall count total for the month making it more difficult to see what progress/counts you had at a certain day.
Their contact support buttons also do not work in their app so I feel like customer service isn’t even there. Instead it once again brought me to the upgrade page. How awful!.Rt255Version: 1.21.1
Took away features I already paid forI don’t fault the developers for switching to a subscription model. That’s their choice, and I hope it works out for them.
What is NOT okay is how they’ve handled existing customers who already paid to upgrade to the “premium” app. We’re people who liked this app enough to pay for it, and the developers thanked us by removing the functionality we already paid for and offering us the opportunity to pay more to get that functionality back. It’s a breach of trust with your customers. You can’t say “pay us a one-time fee and you’ll unlock premium features” and then lock those features and ask us to pay again. The feature was literally called “One-Time Upgrade.” I have to wonder if Apple has a policy about this sort of unethical behavior..RadazenVersion: 1.20.0
Paid-for app turns useless without a subscriptionI paid $7 for premium in this app on the assumption it's not a subscription-based one. I wouldn't have bought it had I known it'd turn into a subscription-based app. This is bait-and-switch and unethical. The developer responds to reviews that mention the taking away of premium features that were supposed to be lifetime with brazen "Hi there" comments. In truth, I should have seen the signs in the fact that the dev was promoting a "growth bundle" of apps for "a better self", while the way to become better selves is to use fewer apps. It is apparent the dev is not out to add value but to milk people for what is in fact a very limited functionality (that they already paid for). This was worth $7 once. This is in no way worth a subscription..MlyssVersion: 1.21.1
Used to be great, not pleased with the changesI’ve been using this app for years now. When I first started tracking habits, it was a game changer, so I bought the paid version. It’s been one of my favorite apps since, and I used to recommend it to everyone.
HOWEVER its developer recently released an update that I mistakenly installed, and despite having paid for the original, I’m no longer considered a premium member and the app is sending me spammy messages to upgrade to a subscription and won’t let me restore my original purchase. I’m extremely disappointed about this change, and likely will not be upgrading any time soon- it’s just not worth more than I ALREADY paid for it..KzaytxeVersion: 1.21.0
I paid 100% for this...then...the company decided to switch to a very expensive yearly subscription which I refused. I had information stored tracking multiple skills and suddenly the app barely worked. It now had about a 4 second delay to tally one tap of minutes. So, if you wanted to add (for what I had set) 30 minutes in 5-min increments, instead of adding it in 6 quick taps, it would take me about 20-30 seconds with the delay. Again, under the initial agreement, I BOUGHT the app. To change it after that is wrong. I tried deleting the app to see if it might reload and lost all data for the last year. Trying to reinstall, I paid the yearly subscription. Now I need to fully stop it and find a new app. What greedy people..Jkyles10Version: 1.21.2
Greed ruins itI really WANT to subscribe to all of these apps. I love them a lot. In fact, I DID subscribe to a couple (including this one in an introductory offer). But, the scheme is clearly to get people to subscribe and hooked, then gouge them on a renewal that is multiple times more than the original subscription, and over priced for what it is. I’m perfectly willing to spend money on something that is worth the cost - like offering new content like exercise and health apps. I’ll even pay for maintenance of apps with complex functions that require frequent bug fixes. But, these are all so simple and obviously do not require the cost being asked. It’s such a shame because I really do like them..Sherylc6Version: 1.24.1
Removed the best featuresI used to be Tally’s biggest fan, but I’ve been extremely disappointed with the app recently since many of the best features were removed in a recent update. I used tally primarily to track medical symptoms and medication use. It’s no longer possible to add tallies and notes at times besides the current time, so you can’t go back and update counts later without them having the wrong timestamp. You also can’t archive tallies you don’t need anymore, and it seems the data aren’t backed up to the internet anymore. Tally is just not so great anymore. It’s harder to use. It’s less helpful. I am now looking for an alternative app to track things..JA08Version: 1.21.2
Lost a year of notes due to app redesignTitle says it all. As the devs switched to a premium, subscription based model, they decided the best way to get people to subscribe is by deleting all the notes they’ve taken prior it this update. Absolutely ridiculous. $30 a year to use a ticker for a habit? After deleting all the data I sync to iCloud every month?
Update: They’ve brought back the previous notes data so thankfully it wasn’t deleted. There is still no way to add notes with the new redesign, which is a vital feature for using the app. I’ve increased the review by one star but I’m forced to keep hand tracked notes outside of the app until they fix what the redesign broke.Next-GenVersion: 1.19.0
Updates ruined the appThis app WAS perfect, now it’s useless. This was great to track onset of symptoms and medications, it was even recommended by my Dr. The time stamp made this app better than similar apps. Now that resets every day, even though I have everything set for yearly. So you can’t even track things for a 24hr period because the time resets at midnight. I can overlook the fact that I can’t add notes anymore, edits times, arrange my items manually, swipe to access the widget without unlocking my phone, backup to iCloud, but the time stamp was pretty important.
I would have gladly paid $30 for this app before they changed anything, that’s how useful it was. But the fact that they removed every feature from the app and now expect people to pay that is ridiculous..Tsix14Version: 1.17.1
Developers, why are you nerfing your own app?I have been using the counting app for years for medical purposes. It was simple and efficient. But over the last year its owners have been systematically degrading its features.
The latest deprecation is that since yesterday an update now forces me to choose how much I want to increment the counter by every single time, rather than increment it by one as it has the last years. Nowhere in settings do I have the option to counter this latest change and revert to the previous default of incrementing the counter by one every time I touch the icon.
Do I need to disable updates for this app to prevent further reduction of its usefulness?.Wish I could love thisVersion: 1.21.9
Lifetime Access apparently means something different to this companyI was a premium user with access to unlimited habits. I assumed I would be grandfathered into my plan even with the change to subscription, but seems like I’m not. Makes no sense to charge people who already paid before 🙄. I wish I was warned this change was coming. I don’t understand why you would take away unlimited access to those who were premium users before when there was no new features added in. I already had access to unlimited habits... but now I have to pay a subscription fee to get back that access???
If this is a mistake, please fix it. If not, I will be switching back to Daylio. A least they won’t take away features users have ALREADY paid for..SteffoniiVersion: 1.17.0
Updates caused data lossFor the past 8 months I was using tally to track medical issues and kept notes to mark med changes and symptoms. They did an update this month and all my previous notes were lost. Pretty big deal for me. Also I paid for this app (maybe $10?) and it said I was buying it for life to be able to track unlimited tallies. Since this update I also can’t add anymore tallies without it asking me to pay for a yearly subscription. I even deleted a tally and tried to add it back and it wouldn’t let me without paying more. Pretty messed up! I emailed them after the update and got a bunch of apologies but no solutions. I’ve made a spreadsheet in Numbers now and won’t be using Tally anymore..SarahEvilVersion: 1.18.0
Great, until upgradeI used to LOVE this app! I admired the integrity of an app that had a low, one-time charge for the premium version. So many useful ways to use this to tally whether a goal was met, how many times something had been done, journaling through “notes,” reminders available...I could go on and on, but then ... (insert ominous theme music here) ... today everything changed.
My tallys had moved all around, titles were now case sensitive and a smaller font, a huge banner took nearly half the screen about a “gift” I could give myself by paying the new annual fee, and probably more changes, but I was too disappointed to explore. So sad to see that change. I’ll miss my old tally..AawwwsadtoseeVersion: 1.19.0
UPDATE, PREMIUM REVOKED: Great app - awful priceI don’t know which company bought the original app developer out, but this is ridiculous.
I paid my one-time premium fee for Tally before these new people switched everything to an obnoxiously overpriced subscription model. These recent updates literally remove premium from your account, and you can’t restore your purchase because “you do not have an active subscription.”
My iPhone 5S was rocking fine with this app and its widget: the widget has disappeared in the last update, and I have no doubt they’re going to put an extra price tag on that to get it back. I literally downloaded this app because of its widget support on the lock screen to tally things without needing to unlock your phone.
I wish I could give this new developer a rating below 1. What was once a fantastic app family is now just a cycle of awful support, price gouging of premium prices, and revoking of existing premium users.
Don’t let the historical 5 star rating fool you; look at recent reviews for within the last year since the dev change, and just choose a different app..MindUNOVersion: 1.17.1
Was a great app but not right now. Hope they can fix it.I have loved the trial of this app but as soon as I purchased it, the journal function that gave the time of each tally for the current day went away. That is a main function that is needed to make this app useful for me. It used to show it but now it shows a random date from a year ago then yesterday and so on. I really hope they can fix this otherwise I’ll need to cancel my subscription and find a different app that does the job I need. I’ve tried to contact them but their contact link does not work. A bit disappointing. Please please please fix..Jmcquill1998Version: 1.21.1
Issues with the updateI really loved this app, but after the most recent app update, i am not happy with the user experience. Previously, if i ever forget adding something to one of the counters, i still had the option to go back and add it. And even when the counter was set to reset every year, i could see the exact number of entries for a specific date when i selected it.
But now i am only able to see the total number of entries for the whole year even when i select a specific date. And when i try to go back to a date and add an entry that i originally forgot adding, the counter doesn’t visually represent the addition with the dot under the date. And nor does it show the exact entry for the date selected..Uday udayVersion: 1.17.0
Was better before the updateI’ll echo what Cliffordson has said... before the update this app was great. Yes, there was the annoying 24-hit sale that lasted 2 mints, but the app was functional and quick. Not any more. A deep click on the tally SLOWLY brings up a context menu. A single click on the tally title allows editing etc, but an entry can no longer be modified. This if you forgot to press the button when you did something, but you still (approximately) know the time you did that something, you are now SOL, where befor you could just edit the time of an entry. And what’s up with the sorting of the entries?? It seems random where “today” is somewhere near the bottom of the list. Please bring back the previous version!!.RustywaVersion: 1.21.1

Latest update removes key features and kills it’s Apple Watch functionsTitle says it all. I have been happily using this useful app for years and was surprised to when see opening it today that EVERY SINGLE counter that I have stored in archive reappearing on my screen. Many of these had been stored in that (no longer available) archive which was a great feature for keeping old counters for future reference.
The developer has “generously” offered a discounted subscription service in the app now (which can not be turned off). I clicked on it wondering if this would restore the archive function but no information on this is available. This is doubly frustrating given that I paid for this app originally to receive additional features. It seems that what’s happening here is an attempt to double dip on it’s loyal customer base while removing key features. Great!
To try to make it even somewhat usable I had to manually delete dozens of counters with a unintuitive, 3 step process which lagged for every deletion. Awesome!
Add to that the fact that the app on my Apple Watch no longer works. When I click a tally it does nothing, just blinks and retains the same count. Bravo!
I’m not sure what’s happening here but I’ll be deleting this app and will try to find something similar elsewhere. I will not support a developer that completely disregards it’s loyal users that have paid for a product and now find themselves without a fully working app. Asking those same customers to double down with more money to purchase a subscription to have additional, but unclear features is simply not acceptable. I would have happily rewarded this app a 5 star rating previously but, sadly, it’s now a glitchy shell of it’s previous state. My 1 star is quite generous..CloakedPuppetVersion: 1.18.0
Incessant “time limited specials”.In-app purchase to unlock more than three habits had a pre-Xmas sale. That’s always promoted as having less than 24 or 48 hours left. But I’ve been presented this reminder continuously since mid December. If it’s not real, stop lying about it as a pressure tactic.
All you’ve encouraged me to do is open up Xcode to write my own “counter button” app.

Ok app but missing watch complications and shortcutsI’ve been using this app and like a lot the design and simplicity. But the Apple Watch app doesn’t offer the option to use in the complications for the new faces. That would be very useful!
Also missing is a way to record a shortcut - basically these two features would add a lot of productivity to this app.
Hopefully you guys can fix this soon!.Gabusam_0Version: 1.8.1
Updated the app. Big mistake.(1) The app no longer works - I literally cannot even enter a tally. (2) The new UI is an abomination and an slap in the face to the sleek, clean UI this app and its sisters used to have. (3) Features I have PAID for are gone. (4) My premium purchase itself is no longer recognized?!
And the most egregious of all: The updates’ notes do not disclose a change in UI, or any of the other changes. This is not transparent, does not inform users of what they’re actually agreeing to. It’s a betrayal of users’ trust and goodwill.

What happened? This was my favourite app. I use Tally daily. I recommended it regularly for its elegant power and simplicity. The latest update is a major setback in functionality. Much seems to have been taken away or made worse. Potential is there but needs loveThis app has nice visuals and nice thought behind the features, but the execution is filled with bugs. For starters, the widget only updates the counts if it’s in the mood to do so that day. Then, editing the history of widgets barely updates anything — the dots under the days that have counts don’t update if you retroactively correct the counts, changing the tally reset rate updates the total tally in some places but not in others, etc. In general, these are bugs that are reproducible, and a developer just has to sit down and fix them. And this is a paid for app, which is all the more a shame that it’s been months that things have been this way.
Edit: I now see that the demo video is made on a laptop using a mouse to click around. That is incredibly lazy, and points to the attention to detail that the current developers behind this app have..PetioptrvVersion: 1.22.2

What the heck happened?Tally was an app I used every single day - it added so much structure and balance to my life that I felt the Premium yearly membership was well worth it. Sadly, the latest update appears to have thrown what was a near-perfect app into total chaos.
What was a smooth streamlined display and interface now constantly lags and glitches. I would try deleting and re-installing the app but the Backup links now appear to be gone. I loved how easily customizable everything was in the calendar and journal features, but now it’s become impossible to edit any timestamps or entries after they’ve been logged. The most frustrating setback for me has been that the very useful feature which sorted tallies in a chronological order (the “Last” function) now seems to just scramble them randomly with any addition of new data.
I’m hoping these are just the growing pains of a complicated software update and that these issues will be fixed soon - if they are, I’ll gladly update this review. However, I’m quickly losing patience with the app in its current state and it won’t be long before I move on..RobbieTheHatchVersion: 1.21.1
Bring back the old version features please! This newest update is not as simple and functional as before. this is way too complicated for something that was so simple and effective beforehand! if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!.Mark_solankiVersion: 1.21.1
Updated version sucksI think this is my first review in the App Store ever and it’s because I’ve been so frustrated with the new Tally app I have to warn others.
Key features have been removed (namely all of my archived ‘habits’ are back on the Home Screen and can’t be archived), and the design/UX has also totally changed. I was very happy with the old Tally app and successfully recommended it to dozens of friends.
The new app has a brutal banner trying to get you to upgrade (which you can’t remove), and design updates that make no sense. Very disappointed in Tally as I feel they made these changes without consulting any of their users. I paid for this app years ago, and have used it daily. Definitely wishing I went with another app as I have a ton of data I’ll need to transfer.
Tally please go back to the old app! Your new app is a huge step backwards! 2 stars because it’s still functional, but I think I’m just being nice....5000pointmanVersion: 1.21.1
Used to be betterThere used to be a manual reset button at the bottom m, now there is only the option to reset by calendar day/week/month/year.
I want to be able reset whenever I hit a certain target which might not correspond with dates on the calendar. I will be deleting since it is no longer able to do what I want..Tinkerbell1075Version: 1.21.0
