This is the most reliable and accurate app for surf reports. Information is relayed directly from user selected buoys. The information isn’t rounded up, so if the buoys indicate 3.3’ swell, that is what you’ll see. Some apps either round up to the nearest whole number or are so far off that I don’t think it was because of rounding. I don’t have the pro model so I can’t speak to other features available on the app but judging from what is available on the free version, I’m sure they’d be just as impressive. Both the app for my phone and watch are useful. I check this app for surf reports and forecasts. Also, I had some trouble setting up a Marine Weather complication on my watch. I thought I’d reach out to the developer, not really expecting a response. I received help and worked out my issue the same day. I’m immensely impressed with the support from this brand.

Marine Weather is phenomenal app with an equally helpful and talented developer behind it. I use the app daily to get critical weather information when sailing or simply when just curious about the weather or weather trends. Buoy data, forecasts, maps, charts, trends, swell and tide forecasts, and more combine to deliver invaluable data to the mariner. The app is extremely customizable and gives you insight to the most important real-time data pulled directly from NOAA and other sources. I’ve used many weather apps in the past and this is the #1 by far. Simply, a perfect app. Don’t think twice before supporting this developer and the great work he’s doing.

This app has so much detailed weather data from multiple sources available and is a lot more reliable getting current data. I’ve used ‘predictor’ apps like Windy and PredictWind and they don’t hold a candle to it. The developer is incredibly prompt in responding and resolving to any issues. You get data from the source to make your own decisions without inconsistent predictive algorithms, especially if you live where local information and observations aren’t as plentiful. The real time observations like buoys and stations are great. A much better deal than other apps out there.

I am a multi-circumnavigator who downloaded the free version of this app to get buoy reports. I liked it well enough to buy a year’s Pro subscription which at $4.99 is a bargain. The amount of information available is enormous and useful. The app itself is well designed and intuitive. I emailed the developer to ask if it is possible to change wind speed readings from mph to knots and received a response within a few minutes. He replied that currently it is not possible, but he may add that to a future update. Other than another app, Luck Grib, to download GRIBS, Marine Weather is now my one stop weather shop.

I go fishing in Alaska every year, and one of the most important weather conditions for us is wind speed and direction in specific areas of the ocean. Too windy and you can’t anchor up, wrong direction and you’re gonna have a miserable time getting to the spot. Used the app yesterday to get the forecast for a spot 70 miles away and in the open ocean, and when we got there the weather was exactly as forecasted. Wrote the developer an email requesting a small feature and got a reply within 12 hours. Just buy it, you won’t regret it.

We go fishing a lot we are only four miles from the lake. On one side but where we fish it 35 miles, only because the fish, that we target are in the bay in very great numbers. We love eating walleye and fish for walleye them. With that being said, it’s too far to take a chance just going not knowing the conditions. My side is completely different from that side. On my side the waves maybe 6’ that side 1’ or Vice-versa. I’m not just going to take a chance and go without knowing. It’s reading the buoys in the bay so it an exact wave reading. So I feel good recommending this app. I have others also, so I compare.

It took me a while to figure out how to navigate and this app and get precise weather conditions inshore, close to where I usually take my boat. A quick response to an email request gave me this tip: “the best thing to do is tap multiple places in the water and get a feel for the NWS point forecast for that area. Then, click the Zone button in the top right which will give you an overall summary for the region.” When I zoomed in really close on the map, this technique worked well. The app wasn’t quite as intuitive as I needed at first, but now I understand it.

And it looks good so far, but I have to immediately question the ‘Terms & Conditions’ we have to agree to, or we’re told not use the app. Well, we just paid for the app, so ‘Agree to this or flush your money down the drain’ is probably not entirely legally binding. I think the shrink wrap stuff has to have a mechanism for declining that doesn’t disadvantage the user. The T&C stuff has all gotten to be a bit too much. How about everyone act in good faith and do the right thing? That’s the only TOC I truly willfully agree to.

This app provides the most needed information to make the call “where to go or should i stay?” Almost all the needed macro weather info is available at your fingertips in this one little app arranged in a well engineered manner. I couple this app with a local weather (wind) tool and i have all the information required to get a good picture of where the surf will be good and when.

This robust, well-designed app is one of the few we rely on for up-to-date, accurate weather and sea conditions. The Pro version is worth the investment. Bonus: The developer feedback is human, timely, and knowledgeable. So far, we have had two interactions with the developer; both were positive and provided clear instructions and screen shots to answer our questions. Kudos on an app well done.

This is now my go-to weather app. As an avid sailor in New England, I really appreciate all the vital marine weather and related information at your fingertips. The app is informative, intuitive, easy to use and provides great access to information needed to make wise decisions about safe and fun boating. An added benefit is that the developer really seems to care about his work. He responds quickly to questions. Highly recommended!

We purchased a boat and live on the Chesapeake Bay. I reviewed several apps and chose this one and I’m very pleased. It is easy to use and provides timely and accurate information. I am also a surfer and use Surfline Pro and this app provides similar data but in an easier format and for a broader area. I had one quick question about the alerts and the developer wrote me back instantly and answered my question.

Alerts are instantaneous with NOAA, and quickly pop on my iPhone. The ability to chose spot forecasts is a great feature, and shows the difference between smooth seas and burying the bow. Questions to the developers are answered just as fast as the alerts!!! I have been using pro version for 3 years now and it’s my go to first look.

One thing I love about this app is that it is available on Apple Watch and I can set up the watch to show me wave height! Just by lifting my wrist I can see what the local wave height is and make a determination on whether to go out on the water or not. Also I emailed the developer asking him to add a buoy and within 24 hours it was live on the app. That’s great customer service!

I find this app extremely helpful when making the decision to go offshore or not. It utilizes accurate information (you pick the buoys) and I find it a resource where you can depend on it and have a great day on the water. The developer is very responsive with his app and reliable. Don’t hesitate to buy it, and by the way I upgraded to the pro version. Very inexpensive for what you get.

It’s got everything you need for marine weather and passage weather planning. Yes… all of this is available through other free sites… but the NOAA site is so convoluted and unfriendly for mobile use and this app assembles that with buoy data and various models… it’s easily worth the subscription… especially if your time is precious and frustration (or lack of) is even more precious.

UPDATE : This app is still solid. Plenty of info packed into a clean looking, simple to use app. I don't review apps all that often because I don't use them enough nor do I interact w the creators. Not the case here. With this app I have gotten responses to emails and seen the app change at the asking of its users. I know I can get a ton of info here and the support and growth of the app make it worth purchasing.

This is a great app if you are a boater or just very into weather and buoy data. The information is very thorough and accurate! And the best part is the communication with the developer. I had a problem with the app and he got back to me in minutes to work through the problem. You’ll never get service like that from a giant company! He was an absolute pleasure. Get this app! I tip my hat to the App dev and App rat team on this marine weather App. The compilation of various NOAA data bases, graphic interfaces, satellite imagery, and simple/ease of accessing and navigating data screens makes this App a stand out in the world of available marine Apps. The App has managed to compile numerous data graphics and sources on a single control pane of glass! No more fumbling through various (and limited detail) sites to piece together desired weather elements while attempting to navigate through the convoluted government sites to obtain desired marine weather. I have all of my boating friends now using this App. Great job App team. Joel

We love this app especially for accurate and the quickest notifications of upcoming weather. You will get updates as soon as they are posted from various weather systems directly making this a must have for any activity dependant on the weather. 👍👍

I have never reviewed an app before, but as a small business owner, I felt compelled today. The app is packed with real time useful information and awesome scientific explanations if your interested. The app support has been second to none. I have received genuine interest and a response from the developer within a day of all my questions.

I’ve been using the app in the Great Lakes area for about a week and in that time this has been very accurate. The forecast conditions were exactly what I experienced when I went out on the lake. So far I am liking it very much. It seems to be a great way to determine the conditions before taking your boat out of the marina. I’m happy.

I have used this app for a few years and it’s worked great and is pretty accurate. Recently I submitted and question to add satellite images and worked with the developer and got modis added. The developer was very interested in my interest and communication was great with him!!

This app is perfect for letting me know weather forecasts on the coast . I have found all data to be reliable and the developer is on top of anything that may be off. Great communication and support! I initially rated the app 2 stars due to a recurring crash at app start. The developer quickly reached out and asked for some details and was able to quickly resolved the issue. After exploring the app I was pleasantly surprised at how much information is readily available in a visually pleasing and intuitive user interface. I'm a novice weather geek that also does inshore fishing. Anxious to put this app to the test! More importantly is the support provided by the developer. The developer is clearly passionate about his product as well they should be. Try it it won't disappoint.

The more you explore this app, the more useful things you’ll find. There is info here, that you’ll never know existed until you see it all in one place. The pro version is well worth the modest price. I had a question, emailed the developer, and received a thoughtful response almost immediately!

App has many very useful tools for planning your boating trips. Custom service is excellent. Send an email and you promptly get a reply to answer questions or assistance as needed. App has worked without issue for me. Recently upgraded to the pro version.

This is definitely the best app for marine weather and conditions. None of the free apps are nearly as useful or accurate. Conditions change quickly on the water and this app keeps up with the changes. The Charts tab in the app has some great graphical info on everything from wave heights, wind info and water and air temps.

I have a 45 foot sloop that we keep in Rhode Island. This is our primary determinant for where and when we go sailing .Great app in ease of use, clarity and accuracy of information. Also received extremely quick response the one time I had a question about utilization. Very pleased!

I absolutely love this app! Instant weather, forecasts, Buoy, tide information and so much more. I love that you can literally just tap anywhere on the satellite map and receive instant detailed information. You will not be disappointed!

This app is my go to place to determine ocean and weather conditions. I’ve used other weather apps but it seems I have to go to multiple places to get the whole story. All in one place here. I emailed the developer and he got back to me almost instantly with an answer. Six stars.

I really like the addition of the weather buoys. It gives me a more well rounded idea of the water conditions. Is it possible to add have the app use my location to automatically load the buoy information for the nearest buoy to me? Also, how accurate is the data for a distance away from the buoy?

So far impressed with the app. Does exactly as advertised. The developer was extremely quick to respond to a feature request regarding adding millibars to the pressure readings. They seem to update the app regularly which is a huge plus. Definitely recommend this app!

I use this weather app for boating. It has a lot of great features regarding sea conditions every boater needs. Easy navigation through the various pages. This is the app I always check before heading outbto the ocean. Highly recommended.

I’m a charter captain and have used many weather prediction and data systems. This app is now my goto weather check several times daily. It even has me thinking of getting an Apple Watch! Great support too.

This app is awesome, I am always boating offshore and I never leave the dock without checking the app. It has saved me from going out in rough seas on more than one occasion.

I love this app for timely weather advisories. I missed checking it once, missed a small craft advisory since it was a beautiful day on land forecast. 8 foot swell turned me around but I’d have saved the lesson if I’d looked before hand. 5stars.

This marine weather app is easy to use. Zone forecasting allows you to get the weather for exactly where you are or where you want to be on the water. Detailed information offered is very helpful for mariners.

As a dockmaster/marina owner on Long Island I need a firm understanding of the weather in many aspects. Great one stop shop for marine weather and NOAA bouy data. Easy to navigate with an immense amount of useful information, this app is a must have for anyone working on or around the ocean.

I’ve been using this app exclusively to collect offshore fishing information for about 3 years. It’s always been easy to use. Recently I noticed it had stopped showing me swell reports which are exceedingly important information when going off shore. I contacted the developer and had two brief emails back and forth then nothing. I was left with a screen shot the developer sent me simply telling me that they can see the swell reports in California… great for them not for me. Unfortunately for me this app has become virtually useless and seeing the number of apps the developer now has it’s not surprising they aren’t willing to help troubleshoot this one for one loyal user.

If you want to see zone forecasts for a trip up the coast it takes 4 clicks to get that. The app defaults to spot forecast. Wherever there’s a a marine alert it show up even if it’s not in your zone and you have to dismiss it before finally clicking the zone button. The warning comes up again and you have to dismiss it before you finally get the forecast you want. The original app was a 1 click deal. This is really annoying.

Downloaded this app hours ago. Already have a small craft advisory warning. So that's good. However, I wish I could input a specific location, and have it saved, so I know the seas, weather, and tides all at once. I need information very quickly for my job, and this takes more time than I would like to locate all of the information, as well as the load time seems pretty long.

Very few Lake Michigan buoys show up in the app. You can't search for a specific location; you have to scroll around a satellite image map that is extremely slow-loading, even with a hi-speed wireless connection. I work at a marina in southwest Michigan and was searching for an app that would give me fast access to lake condition data necessary for boaters to evaluate whether and when to depart. This is absolutely not the app for that.

Paid for a year and ask for info because I could not get any wether info and it’s been a week with no response

Worked OK on first use. Then buoy data was unavailable with a message that seemed to blame NOAA for having busy servers. Today The app just crashes when I select a buoy. Wish I could have my time and money back.
