Oak - Meditation & Breathing App Comments & Reviews

Oak - Meditation & Breathing Positive Reviews

Near perfect meditation appI have tried numerous medication apps, but I wasn’t happy with any of them. For the first time I can see I am truly enjoying a mediation app (and I will admit, the fact that there are no “pro” “premium” or subscriptions is partly why I enjoy it; I never liked the idea of profiting off of mediation, it seems ingenuine to me). The app is super clean with a beautiful design. However, from my initial experience, here are two things I would tweak: 1. The guiding voice is significantly louder than the background noise. I wish there was a way to control the balance between these two. I don’t like the guiding voice to be too loud, but when I adjust the voice volume to my liking the background sound is almost inaudible. 2. For the breathing exercise, I wish there was an option for an audio guide as well. Just like while meditation, while breathing I prefer to not stare at my screen, but currently there is no way for me to follow the breathing exercises without having my eyes glued to the screen, I hope this will change. Overall, this is an excellent mediation app, and I hope it remains clean and bloat free, with non of the “premium” features that are constantly being pushed with similar mediation apps. Thanks for making the world a better place..Version: 2.0.1

Mind Blown AwayI absolutely love this app. There is no subscription that you have to buy to use it. There is an in app purchase but that’s besides my point. I absolutely would recommend this app. Whenever I’ve had a stressful day I can always count on this awesome app to help. Waking up early? No problem! The sleeping section helps with that. Can’t focus? The breathing section helps with that! Just want to be guided on meditation without having to tap your screen to make sure it’s on? The meditation section helps with that! Here’s a quick story: when I first found this app and saw that you could have rain playing for 55 minutes with you phone off, I had to recommend it to my mom. She loves sleep and falling asleep to rain. It was the best to her! Another thing: Since it’s Pride Month I’ll share this. The meditation section REALLY helped me accept my sexuality and gender identification since I was struggling with that and coming to terms with who I was. I was a little ehh about it but doing the I think acceptance breathing meditation course, for a while really helped me come to terms. Have I proven my point that this is a freakin amazing app yet? Still not convinced? Try it out, see how you like it..Version: 2.5.1

PerfectI cannot recommend this app highly enough. It is a gorgeous and highly accessible app- it has a few different types of meditations, some guided breathing techniques, and some night techniques. All are completely free and without any ads whatsoever. Even the app in-depth courses on different meditation techniques are free. The things I really appreciate about this app are 1. How much flexibility there is in meditation settings- there are light and dark options for the screen, you can choose a background noise effect (but don’t have to have one at all), can adjust speaker volume and background volume separately, and can adjust the length of meditation. It’s so simple and effective. 2. I love the loving kindness meditation. I have tried other guided loving kindness meditation routines and a lot involve visualisation techniques that end up distracting me personally. This one is the best- it’s so beautiful and peaceful and is so easy to follow. Truly a treasure and such an effective way to cultivate feelings of tenderness and compassion. I couldn’t fault this app if I tried, it’s my absolute favourite. Can’t recommend it highly enough!.Version: 2.5.2

Great app. One suggestionIt’s everything you’d want from a subscription app but without the subscription. Simple to use, soothing backgrounds, and plenty of options. May I offer one suggestion? I like to turn off the chimes on the unguided meditations because they startle me — even the quietest options. (That’s a me thing, not the app.) It would be nice if I could use the background sounds to keep track of the time instead, but without an ending chime, the sound just keeps going. There’s no way to tell how long I’ve been meditating unless I stop to pick up my phone, and wondering whether or not I’m going over time distracts me. Would it be possible to have the background sounds just stop when the time is up? Then I wouldn’t have to be startled at the end of each meditation, but I also wouldn’t risk being late because I accidentally spent 20 minutes meditating instead of 10. :) Otherwise, though, it’s a fantastic app. I like that I have meditation options, deep breathing exercises, and sleep sounds all in one place..Version: 2.5.2

AMAZING!This is by far the best meditation app out there. I love how it’s completely free. Well you have the option to pay for a course but there’s no subscription fee. I paid for the mantra course and I don’t regret spending $6 for it. It was worth every single penny. I hate meditating, but this app got me hooked. I meditate everyday now. I feel refreshed and relaxed once my mediation session is over. All the mediation guides on this app are soothing and very calming. There might not be a wide variety of choices to pick from, because there’s only a few. But personally I think it’s better this way. All the other apps have thousands to choose from that it’s too overwhelming that I don’t feel like meditating. This app has helped me extremely with my stress and anxiety that I’ve had over the COVID-19 situation. It’s a marvelous app, and its amazing how there’s no fee. Just try it, because I promise that you’ll love it too. All those positive reviews are definitely not fake, they’re real..Version: 2.5.1

Background too brightI used the v2 app for the first time today, June 15, 2018, the day it was released. I miss the calming darker blue background with white clock numbers. I meditate in a low light environment. The new lighter (white) background is too bright. When I open my eyes to check the countdown timer, it hurts my eyes and the thin-lined black clock numbers are hard to read. Also, when I close my eyes again, I still see the photo image for a few seconds. This brightness is counter intuitive to relaxation. I do like that the makers kept my previous data and that they fixed the breathing counter to go higher than 1k. UPDATE: July 10, 2018 - I have been manually adjusting the brightness on my iPad app each time I use it and am very happy with the results. I highly recommend it his app often to friends and family. UPDATE Oct 14, 2018: FYI, the “Growth” section is not opening. There might be a glitch. It has been this way for a couple of weeks..Version: 2.3

Thank you!Whoever created this app thank you, thank you, thank you! This app is aesthetically appealing, I love the minimalistic look to it. When I want to mediate the last thing I want to do is busy my mind with a lot of moving parts or tracking variables, and this app design helps that. I’ve used other apps that make you pay a ridiculous amount to use them and that are heavily promoted on social media and radio but I usually was never able to get into the flow of the meditation. Maybe because there was one more reoccurring fee coming out of my bank account. I like that this app doesn’t have so many different selections it’s straight and to the point and has makes me want to meditate more. I’d gladly pay a one time fee for this app but the fact that it’s free is amazing and a blessing. Anyway if the developer ever accepts donations I’d gladly donate as a thank you for allowing me to train myself to be still and to BREATH..Version: 2.5.1

I love this app! This app made meditation and breathing accessible for someone like me, who has a very anxious mind. Thank you for the options of breathing exercises, and different types of meditation (e.g. mindful meditation, loving kindness meditation, unguided meditation). Thank you for the option of male or female voice! Thank you so much for the clean and beautiful user interface! I really appreciate Oak being a free app for everyone to use, at this time when meditation has become so commodified and monetized. Other apps charge more for less features. There is a paid 10 day mantra meditation course (thankfully a one time fee), but all other content is free. I understand the optional paid course to keep access to the app free to those who can’t afford it. Even when I couldn’t sleep and couldn’t find a free white noise app, and just happened to wonder, “I wonder if Oak has sleep sounds...” It really did. Bravo, truly bravo. Thanks so much..Version: 2.5.1

My favorite appI love this app deeply and always recommend it to my friends. It was specially helpful during the first months of the pandemic when I had trouble sleeping. I use it pretty much every night to meditate and get ready to sleep. I just wish you could balance the volumen btw the voice and the background sound because to get the voice volume right is make the background almost imperceptible. Also, and this didn’t happen in the past, now although I set my sessions for 15 minutes when I wake in the morning it is still on, which drains the battery. In the past it would stop but now it just keep going. I wonder if is due to the new iOS15 or the new focus mode or something like that. I hope you fix those two things in the future because is a wonderful app and it’s made my life better. 100% recommended..Version: 2.5.2

Works perfectly for me!I am new to meditation — one could say I’m probably new to calming my racing mind too. I am uncomfortable having a live meditation coach (or exercise buddy or any other type of personal trainer). I travel extensively and need reminders and the portability of an app to keep me on track. I’m goal-oriented, so earning badges and maintaining streaks keeps me motivated. This Oak App is perfect for me! I started out with just the breathing exercises — anyone can breathe, right? Then tried a few meditation practices. I just did the Loving Kindness meditation for the first time and loved it — that’s what prompted me to write this review! And they’ve just added some Sleep exercises/functions that I can’t wait to try! Thanks for building such a great app — the world would be a much better place if everyone could just meditate for even 10 minutes a day! “May you be happy. May you be healthy. May you be at peace.”.Version: 2.1

I have NEVER written a review...until TODAYI just discovered the Oak app the other day and absolutely LOVE IT. I’ve used Calm, Headspace, 10% Happier, Insight Timer and this is BY FAR the simplest and most accessible app there is. It’s as simple and quiet as the practices it contains. I am an RYT200 yoga instructor and also a corporate director of employee training & development...my passion is to marry the two to provide meaningful experiences for people to do the real inside out work of development. That’s where the true growth comes from. Anywho, I wanted to let you know that I will be recommending Oak to all 10,000 employees at my organization plus at my conference speaking engagements. It fits so well with the breathwork and practices I’ve already been doing! I wanted to let you know and to potentially interview the developer to hear the story of how you were led to create this app. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR HEART AND TECH SAVVY to create Oak!.Version: 2.5.1

Great app! 👍🏻Okay first of all, I don’t write reviews (one of the reasons I recommend you, reader, check it out) and since this is my second time writing a review, maybe third in my life, it’s not gonna be really detailed. The ability for the app to be able to turn off at the requested time is incredible. I can set a session (in my case guided breath or relaxing sounds) to any time I want, usually 15 minutes, and guaranteed I will fall asleep in that span of time, and my phone will not play until it dies, like if I played a song for example. It will turn off, and it will be on a screen, and the iOS ability for my phone to turn off when not active (I don’t know if it’s on other brand phones) Means that my phone will turn off, doesn’t die and lulls me to sleep. Adiós.Version: 2.5.2

This is REALLY ok.As a teenager, I always feel so busy even though I’m on summer break I feel like I want to stick to myself and get a little angry when I have to do a chore or something else similar to that because I watching memes and the such. However since I recently got injured with a couple knee fractures I have been feeling so anxious to have my surgery completed and begin walking again. (Especially because I like skiing in the winter and don’t wanna miss out on that.) Then I thought about trying meditation and turns out after finding the right pick for me that had simple 10-15 sessions where I could truly relax and have full awareness of my breathing without having to stress my breathing by inhaling for a long time. Also it had to be at no cost because I don’t wanna buy something to relax I want pay by giving my time to use a service and then 💥 bam you got a new downloader of your app. 8/10 would recommend..Version: 2.5.1

Almost FlawlessI love this app! It’s elegant, simple, and has just what I need without overwhelming me with unnecessary options. I’ve been using it for a while and recommend it over literally all the paid meditation apps out there. Recently, it does have me worried that little things seem to not be working. I had a streak that just disappeared (not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but still sad to see it happen) and I’ve also noticed that the mantra meditation course isn’t working for me anymore. It’s all gone back to “Locked” even though I’ve worked through it all and I can’t find a way to access it anymore. The app still works overall and my streak counter is building again, but noticing that the last update to the app was a few years ago I worry it may be at risk of breaking as Apple keeps updating its iOS..Version: 2.5.2

Love this meditation app!I originally downloaded Oak as a meditation timer. From what is shown in the description, I liked the aesthetics and customisation possibilities. Just coming back to meditation after a long time out of practice, I didn’t know if I would be able to stick with it so I didn’t want paywall distractions or confusing options. After 100+ days straight of morning meditation (and breath work!), I feel it’s safe to say Oak has been a phenomenal start to my day and a wonderful addition to my routine. I started with 5 minutes unguided and worked my way up to 15 minutes. I am planning on increasing to 20 minutes when I hit my 200th day of practice. Oak has become part of my daily rituals and I am grateful for it. Thank you!.Version: 2.5.2

Wonderful. Just simply wonderful.I have tried other meditation apps, and I too, disagree with profiting from helping people meditate and finding joy within themselves, so when this app popped up, I decided to try it. I manage three types of depression, anxiety, and a personality disorder and have been in all kinds of therapies for years. The Loving Kindness meditation was the first I tried and it blew me away. Sometimes I forget that while I want these things for others and myself, actually meditating and naming them brings a deeper connection to that meaning and a jump start to giving that love and compassion when I leave the house. I love the simplicity of the interface, the quotes, and the “no muss no fuss”. This is a keeper, and by far, the best meditation app I’ve tried. Give it a go, and be free my friends. ♥️.Version: 2.5.1

Great QUIET Meditation appBeen practicing meditation for over forty years and teach mindfulness in a a large urban hospital. 🌱Lots of apps are either too fussy or too busily social and Facebook/Twitter-like (more distraction then needed for true meditation practice. I like that I can focus just on what my mind is doing without the pull and destruction of a million choices. Love the simplicity and seemingly quiet emptiness of the application as background to practice not foreground of it. This app is lovely. Simple design. 🌱A tree grows as you progress in your practice. Which is a nice symbol for reminding a new meditator they are nurturing their life by tending to the garden of the mind. .🌿 No muss no fuss— just you and a great un-intrusive and zen-like tool for learning and aiding your meditation practice. 🌿 Highly recommend it. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼.Version: 2.5.2

Almost There... (add Chromecast support)I have tried one other meditation app and I liked it but couldn't afford the monthly cost. I trust Kevin Rose and so when he announced this app I jumped at it. To begin with, this needs Chromecast support. I am fairly new to meditation so I really appreciate when there is guided meditation as it helps me focus on what I am supposed to be focused on. This app starts off wonderfully but I feel that more tutorials would help for those of us new to meditating. I love the "Wisdom" section and hope to see more use in this department. If you can't find audio wisdom, I recommend Kevin recording some quotes from where ever. It's a quirky little feature that I like. I know I saw, when I first tried it, a way to see how many people are on at once but I can't seem to find it anymore. Overall good but not great. Keep it up and definitely ADD CHROMECAST SUPPORT!.Version: 1.1.0

Honestly change my lifeI have began using this app every morning and night and it has made me a calmer happier person, I know that sounds crazy I’m not someone who believes an app can do that. It helped me find a calm place in my mind I can go when I’m stressed or upset bring me back to my self. The loving guided meditation brought me to tears tonight and that’s why I’m writing this right now it asks you to find someone who means a lot to you and wish the health happiness and peace and my mom care to my mind. My mom is the last person I thought I would have thought about but she was the first to pop up and as I repeated the phrases I saw her happy and healthy and it made me happy. If you want to get into meditation this is a way to do it and it’s free no subscriptions at all it’s amazing truly..Version: 2.3.1

Simple & EffectiveI have used Insight Timer for years, and while that app is still my go-to for a large library of free guided meditations and logging statistics, I think this may be the app I use for regular daily meditations. This is because of the app’s minimalism—all the extra bells and whistles of other apps can distract and result in switching from meditation to meditation until I find the “right” one. Oak seems to give me just enough options to provide choice but keep it simple. The interface and meditation artwork is also very satisfying, and the fact that it does not display an overwhelming number of stats will keep me from being distracted from my real goal of meditation: no winning or losing, no good or bad sessions, no “progress” or “regress”—just gentle, mindful practice. Thanks, Oak..Version: 2.5.1

This app is my refuge right nowWith all that is going on right now, I decided to try again with meditation. I’ve tried a bunch of times, with various apps in the past, and never really clicked with it. I don’t know why I love this app so much...but it really works for me. I love that I can choose the background sound. I love the voice of the narrator. When I feel overwhelmed by the news, I take ten minutes and do the first guided meditation, and immediately feel more centered and at peace. Thank you for making this app, and thank you for making it free right now. I almost never leave app reviews, but this one has measurably improved my life the past couple weeks. If an app can change a life, then I would put this one on the list. ❤️.Version: 2.5.2

Free and relaxingThis app is by far one of the best meditation apps. It is free unlike many other apps and is soothing. I’m so glad I found it not only to help with my anxiety but to just calm me down or help me sleep. I have only done a few sessions and I’m already in love with Oak. You can choose to have background noise or not and the options are pretty decent for not having to pay money for the app. At first when I saw it, I thought there must be a catch but there isn’t and I am very happy. I believe that apps like this shouldn’t cost money because you shouldn’t have to pay money for something that is supposed to help you. I’m sure most apps like this won’t help your bank account😂 I highly recommend this app for anyone. 5 stars all the way👏.Version: 2.5.1

Could it really be free?I’m extremely cautious and skeptical when it comes to trying new meditation apps. The trend for these services to charge over $10 a month for some simple voice tracks is ludicrous. So far, Oak has bucked that trend and kept me smiling. Their blend of breathing exercises and meditations allows for variety without being excessive or overwhelming. I loved the customization in background noise during the guided meditation. I also found the UI to be pleasant and easy to navigate. This may be the last meditation app that I download in my quest for something to meet my needs. Please don’t go Freemium on me! I’ll happily pay a one-time fee for a thoughtfully designed app, but will NEVER pay for a meditation subscription..Version: 2.3.1

Really nice and helpful!I never really understood what meditation was or how I would go about it (like the concept of just sitting with your eyes closed was foreign to me because how could you not think about anything?) but this app was recommended to me by a friend and so I thought to try it out. I haven’t branched out with the other methods yet, as I’ve been using Mindful Meditate for a while now as a beginner, but it’s been an amazing experience. I’m so grateful that this was my true introduction to meditation, and I don’t know where I’d be without this app: the guide really helps to center myself, and it made me realize that meditation is definitely less daunting than I thought..Version: 2.5.2

VolumeI’d continue using this app, but for now I’m going back to meditating organically. I use the unguided meditation in this app and love the background noises and chimes to let me know when my time is starting and over. I don’t understand why the background noises are so quiet though. When I turn them up to block other noise and the chime to let me know my time is up starts, it is insanely loud and even makes me jump. Why is there such a difference between volume levels? I don’t understand. I’ll go back if the developers ever add a volume HUD and slider to change it to how I’d like or if the volume is equalized and the background noises weren’t barely bearable at a medium volume. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the app and would use it often if this was fixed.Version: 2.5.2

Simple, effective, and freeI have been using this app for years after hearing about it on the Tim Ferris show. I’m a newbie to meditating and have only been doing it consistently for 1.5 years. That said I’ve purchased Ten Percent and recently Waking Up; however I find myself coming back to this app on a daily basis as those apps lack the breathing exercises I love in this app. Why do I love them? They work. They help me fall asleep, lower my BP when I’m stressing, I measured it - no exaggeration, and it’s free. I feel guilty not having paid a dime and would gladly make an app purchase or one time donation to show my appreciation. You have nothing to lose but stress, if you’re on the fence you shouldn’t be. Download and thank me later..Version: 2.5.2

OakI love oak for many reasons, some days I would feel sad and feel like I’m not good enough and then I would get a reminder from oak to do a meditation session. A lot of the other ones are used you had to pay for each month. While Oak was free, and it is the best app I’ve use. I would buy a lot of other station apps that will not work as well, and I ended up deleting them but once I got oak I was “like it’s just gonna be another app that I have to pay for” but in the end I didn’t have to pay for it and I love this app, when things happen in your life you could use oak to calm yourself down a 10 minute meditation session and calm a lot down.Version: 2.5.2

Awesome!!I definitely recommend this app. From the bottom of my heart, only a couple days of this has done a world of difference for me that I found difficult with other meditation apps. This app does a smooth and comfortable job at creating a loving atmosphere, an engagement and enjoyment to keep you in the habit of meditation, not to mention a user friendly interface; the list goes on. I’ve watched my happiness, calmness and creativity go up with this app bit by bit, and am excited to see that continue. It is clear this app had extensive thought and kindness put into it, and I highly suggest trying it out..Version: 2.5.2

Oak ReviewAs someone who is tense from college work and the current world state, this app helps greatly. I often find myself anxious during the day about my stress and workload and get headaches from tension in my body because of this. This app helps me relax efficiently in a reasonable time and is something I would recommend using at least once a day. I really enjoy the guidance during the sessions because it keeps me focused yet relaxed. The breathing techniques are useful because it not only grounds you when you become anxious but works with your parasympathetic nervous system when you want to come down from anxiety by slowing your breathing, unlike when you are anxious and have rapid breathing which send you into fight or flight mode..Version: 2.5.2

Fabulous even for non meditation peopleI totally love this app and I’ll be the first one to admit I’m very resistant to making time for meditating. Intellectually, I get it, I know it’s good for me but who has the time? This app completely broke through my resistance. It’s clean, beautiful and very straightforward. I can easily pick what I want to do and do it before my brain finds something else to do! I love having options for each of the 3 categories (meditation breathing and sleeping) and I like the short and to the point explanations. It’s an app I actually use everyday! Thank you! Hoping for an Apple Watch option at some point so there can be vibrating guidance during the breathing exercises..Version: 2.3.1

My Mediation App NowI’ve gone back and forth between tons of the meditation apps out there. After I got this app, I deleted all the other apps on my phone. I love that Oak is very simple. I find myself meditating more. And I never feel like I’m doing anything wrong or overthinking what the person is saying. It’s just simple. Only suggestion I have is being able to have a bell or chime at the end of an unguided meditation. I always feel myself not knowing when to stop when I’m only able to fit in 5 or 10 minutes in the morning. Other than that, this is by far the best meditation app out there. Especially because of the breathing exercises!.Version: 1.3.0

Great for Light SleepersI've been using Oak for 3 years, and the quality of this app still amazes me. I'm a light sleeper, so whenever I hear loud sounds before bed, I open Oak and turn up the volume. The app has really unique and immersive sounds that help you focus on breathing. You can cycle through different sounds depending on what you need to block out. So far, it's worked on coughing roommates, snoring dogs, airplanes, and loud neighbors (earbuds recommended). Oak really is the next best thing to noise-canceling headphones. Also, I don't mediate daily, but the "Awake" breathing technique has helped me not fall asleep in class. Honestly grateful for every good night's sleep I've had through Oak..Version: 2.5.2

Best Mindfulness App on the AppStoreI’ve used a variety of Mindfulness Apps hoping that it would become an integral part of my daily life. However, most apps are cluttered or have a subscription based business model. However. Oak is the complete opposite of that. The design is simply aesthetically pleasing and I can see the hard work that the developer put it into crafting a beautifully designed yet minimal app. Just wanted I needed! The creator’s focus is clearly on providing a high quality mindfulness app to the market rather than earning profit(Headspace/Calm). I highly recommend this app. The Best Mindfulness App on the AppStore. Kudos to the AppStore Team for promoting it as the one of the Best New Apps..Version: 2.0.1

Please read!I never review anything. Like really, but I had to review this because I’ve been using it for months. When I first got the app I was really into it and would meditate daily, usually later in the day and would use the sleep option to fall asleep, thinking at first that it wouldn’t work but it truly does calm you down. Then I stopped for e few weeks and got back into it again and I feel so good after meditating! This app is soo good and it is even better because it’s free and still has options unlike other apps that make people pay to meditate after doing it 5 times. I highly recommend this app!.Version: 2.5.1

Best Free Meditation App!I absolutely love this meditation app. I wanted something simple but with options that wasn’t going to cost me, after searching through quite a few meditation apps I found Oak and am impressed by the content and variety given in a free app. I have never once had an issue with it - everything runs smoothly & the guided meditation voices are actually soothing. I have noticed my anxiety levels gone down and sleep has improved. I seriously wish there was an upgrade available that would unlock more guided meditations & other breathing or sleep sessions. This is one app I WOULD pay for. Please come out with more! 🙏🏻.Version: 2.3.1

Love itttttAbsolutely in love with your application. Its so nice and smooth, and I love your music. Im hoping sometime soon tho, can you please add more meditations and meditation courses? Ive tried many other applications and you are finally one i am comfortable with. I want to learn meditation techniques such as the course you put “mantra meditation” and I'm looking forward to trying. Im looking forward to courses of different types of meditation practices simply to learn so much more in meditation and experience more. P.S. can you please find a slightly calmer way for the guided meditations? I tried the female love and kindness and i loved it, but i have some comments if you are interested..Version: 2.5.1

Best Meditation AppThis app is designed beautifully and doesn’t pressure you to buy up in order to have a good experience. The app teaches you a variety of meditation techniques if you’d like them and has both guided and unguided meditations which is a very good tool for all who meditate. This app has a leveling process based on how many sessions you complete, but it strips all the competition and bs away. It allows meditation to be what it’s supposed to be, a journey that you take into yourself to cultivate a sense of self understanding and peace that can then be brought out into the world as a beacon of light for others who may be looking for that same sense of peace..Version: 2.5.2

My personal favorite meditation app.I’ve been using this as a beta tester the past few months, and it’s been my go to meditation app. I’ve tried Calm, and Headspace before and found that while they are also great, they left something to be desired. First thing I like about it is it’s options to either have your handheld with a guided meditation (I used this at the beginning) then having the option to turn the voice off (which I found to be distracting after awhile) and just having sounds play ambiently in the background with a chime playing everything minute to remind you to come back to your breath when you get distracted. (The chime can also be turned off) Second, the audio snippets of Alan watts talking about the purpose of meditation are excellent mental Framings before or after meditating. Third, save extra time! I love this feature, it becomes a game you can play too see how much time you can accrue before you inevitably get restless. All in all, check it out! I use it daily..Version: 1.0.0

Just enough guidanceI’ve used other meditation apps that were very helpful at first, but eventually there was either too much verbal guidance or none at all. I love the way Oak gets you started on your meditation and then gives you some silence before checking in again. I also like that there are very few choices of meditations. I used to spend a lot of time choosing a meditation and then starting and then choosing another one. Oak gives a few options and I just go with it. I also like that guided breathing is included. I find this very helpful..Version: 2.5.2

Best meditation appThis app seems to be mostly free. I don’t remember needing to create an account. There are no ads. No options to upgrade to a “premium” version. The interface is so simple and easy to use. There are just enough choices for meditations and breath work. The number of breaths, amount of time, and background noise can be adjusted. I get overwhelmed by too many choices on other mediation apps. The only thing I don’t care about is the “community” section and the streaks count. Oh also, it would be cool if there were a watch version of the app, and also a widget for the phone. But those are not huge problems..Version: 2.5.2

I LOVE oakI love oak... and here’s why. I’ve never been a meditator. I didn’t want to spend time and money on an app I used once in a blue moon. I love that oak is free, and doesn’t have a plus or premium addition (I never liked the idea of paying for meditation). If I were to change one thing, it would be that it’s hard to hear the background noises. I wish there was a way to adjust the background noises separate from the guides voice. I love this app, and I would highly recommend it for those that are interested in meditating, skeptical, are trying to get back into it, or have been doing it for years..Version: 2.4.1

Oak is great, and oak is freeKevin Rose and the folks on the development team deserve a HUGE thank you for this app. There are a ton of apps that have popped up in this space, and some of them are worth the money, but meditation is free and this app beautifully reflects the quiet, simple nature of meditation. You really don’t need much more than this. There’s some guidance that paves the way to unguided meditation, and enough quantification and community statistics if that motivates you. The sound choices are high quality and no frills, adding a level of functionality to the app that raises the quality of the meditation experience. Get it, there’s no reason not to..Version: 2.4.1

Love It!I’ve used Calm and Headspace. Calm started charging so I got rid of it and I couldn’t understand Headspace too much. Oak is simple and effective. The only thing is under courses... there’s only one. Or I can’t find where to look at other courses? I paid for the Mantra Course and I enjoyed it, but since the section is labeled “courses” as in plural, I thought there’s be more than one.🤷🏼‍♀️. But I can still use the app regardless of that one little hiccup. And I still love it’s simple and effective design. I would also mention to add an audible option to the breathing as someone suggested before me..Version: 2.5.1

A meditation app that is everything I need in a meditation appThis is a great meditation app. It has all the elements I need to help me get out of my head and just “be” for a however long I need. The breathing section is structured well and is an interesting take on building a community around it. Also, getting help was surprisingly fast. I received a response to my question within 10 minutes, before I even finished a meditation. That was awesome, and Eli’s directions put the app back to what I was expecting. The Oak app team has released a fantastic product. Definitely give it a try!.Version: 2.4.0

This is so relaxingReason why I gave this a five star rating because it helps me go to sleep and I play Roblox so when Roblox didn’t let me play a game I just went straight to this app and I did calming and I just said inhale exhale and it really made me come down, so I just love this app and it really helps me go to sleep. My mom was using this the asked her what app is that she said app name oak and I was like can I use it one day and the next day after school I got a real bad headache and she downloaded this app on my tablet and I use this app every night!!!!.Version: 2.5.2

Just LovelyAs much as I’d like to think that I can find the motivation to meditate daily from within myself, I always fall out of the habit. Typically, I stop meditating when I probably need it the most (stressful times, endless task lists, etc.). I started using Oak a few weeks ago to get myself back in the habit. I look forward to my meditation now more than I ever have before. Life is hectic and stressful, and yet, I can’t wait to use Oak for some simple breath work and unguided meditation. I love everything about this app, and like a lot of other reviewers I greatly appreciate that it’s free. Lovely work!.Version: 2.4.1

Life savingI suffer from extreme anxiety and stress, having melt downs here and there. I was helped by a loved one to seek help. Reluctantly, I looked online and a search for relief and peace brought me to this app. I meditated during a bad episode. I began by doing the simple breathing exercises which relaxed me a bit but I still felt somewhat distraught. Then I proceeded to meditate after just ten minutes of breathing. Meditation cooled me down, helped me embrace myself and the ones I love. I cried. And found some relief I had always longed for. I will not stop meditating to say the least. Thank you to the people who put this amazing app together. Love, S.F..Version: 2.4.1

Truly Love ItThis is everything I was looking for. A clean, simple, pleasant interface, with a system that I truly feel is accommodating for meditation. I like to take time after guided sessions to relax and let my mind wander, and I was delighted to discover that background noise continues uninterrupted for as long as you like, without the somewhat jarring cutoff that occurs in other apps I’ve tried. No disrupting ads or premium exclusive features. Everyone has their own preferences, but I believe that this app could be appealing to anyone. So glad to have found this. Thank you; this is a true gem!.Version: 2.2

Simple, Free. No catchA free daily 10 minute guided meditation. Set a reminder if you like, and add some background noise, like rain or waterfall. It offers a few guided breathing exercises. And that’s about it. No bait-n-switch teaser meditations leading to in-App purchases or expensive memberships. After making daily 10 minute meditation a ritual, I probably WOULD consider an option to upgrade for more variety. The lack of blatant marketing allowing me to focus on my practice actually makes me more willing to spend $ since I feel the app developer is more trustworthy than greedy..Version: 1.3.0

Just mind blowing goodI was nervous to try this app because I didn’t want a subscription service. But I tried it, doesn’t have one, which I was very relieved. I tried the Loving Kindness session first and was so relaxed and calm after just minutes. If I had to change anything though, I’d like to see more content like meditation for anxiety, depression or anger. I understand that might not make it a free app but wouldn’t mind a one time fee to get constant updates and new content. But I am completely satisfied so far and will definitely recommend your app to my friends!.Version: 2.4.1

Perfect!I love this app! I’ve had it for probably over a year now, and its simplicity and power both blow me away! I love how it doesn’t tell you how long to breath for on the meditation parts, and I love the variety of different background sounds you can choose from. I’m starting to use the “Loving Kindness” feature, and it’s making me hate my roommates a lot less! I have nothing to criticize about this app. ❤️.Version: 2.3.1

DonPerfectly simple, back to basics and I feel like the narrator is a friend in the room. The perfect meditation teaching app for people who may have a tendency for complicating things or worrying. I am one of those people and this app gives plenty of time and space to be able to achieve the simplicity of mindfulness.Even the experienced might benefit from giving this totally free gift a try..Version: 2.3.1

Beautifully designedThe app is amazing! It has enough calming and mindful meditations. The design is beautiful and it’s hard to believe that this app is for free.Version: 2.5.2

Great minimal meditation appHave been using Oak for a couple weeks now and have been enjoying it a lot. The interface is simple and attractive, and the app is easy to use while still having customizability. Two features I’d love to see implemented: 1. Add audio cues to the breathing exercises. It would be nice to be able to close your eyes while breathing but have an audio cue tell you when to switch between an in-breath and out-breath. Other apps I’ve used in the past have this functionality and it’s definitely useful. 2. Add more options for “warm-up,” ideally allow the user to choose any interval between 5-60 seconds. I don’t need 30 seconds to get settled on my cushion. Otherwise, this app is excellent and I really enjoy using it multiple times per day for my meditation practice and breathing exercises..Version: 1.3.0

Amazing AppThis is probably one of the only free apps that actually is free and also has a use for it. I love this app.Version: 2.5.2

Dark modeI would love to see a dark mode implemented to this app. I often use this app in the evening and it’s a little harsh on the eyes just before bedtime. It still deserves a five star rating though!.Version: 2.5.2

Simple yet amazingThis is by far one of the best meditation apps out there and is free!.Version: 2.5.2

Oak appHonestly the best meditation app! Highly highly recommend ❤️.Version: 2.5.1

Everything you need to start meditatingBasic guided meditations, guided breathing, a couple of guided practices to help you fall asleep and a meditation timer wrapped up in a pleasing interface with a nice selection of background sounds. Excellent app. Many thanks to the developers..Version: 2.5.1

Superb app!!!Okay I will be recommending this app to anyone. I love that it’s free, for one, and I LOVEEEE THE daily reminder QUOTES I get from it. Will be telling my family to download this app. It’s a LIFE CHANGER y’all. 100% commitment..Version: 2.5.1

Easy to use, no sales pressureI love that Oak is geared towards simplicity — it trains you to meditate without verbal guidance. Other apps seem built around the dizzying variety of guided meditations that are their business model. Oak simply works well, and encourages a deeper practice..Version: 2.3.1

I fell asleep!I’ve had this issue for the past four years. I just could not sleep. I stare at the wall, put on white noise, take melatonin supplements, etc. But then I found this app. I have not fallen into sleep within 30 minutes since I was a child. But for the first time in a long time listening to the guided sleep meditation, I fell asleep in twelve minutes the first night, and ten in the next night! Thank you, whoever made this. You’ve changed my sleep for the better.😴.Version: 2.3.1

PerfectoPerfecto.Version: 1.3.0

FantasticI have used a few different meditation apps and this is by far the best. Simple, yet lacking nothing. The breathing and wisdom sections is are a great bonus..Version: 1.1.0

Outstanding work! The Oak teams hard work and many revisions has created a solid app that gives incredible benefit to its users. Thanks a bunch!.Version: 1.1.0

Best meditation app for allThis is the best overall meditation app I’ve used. It’s great for beginners, but more importantly for me it’s great for intermediate meditators. My favourite feature is the unguided mediation with the timers..Version: 1.0.0

Best meditation appLove that the oak tree grows a little each time you mediate. Best guided mediation I have tried and the breathing exercises are amazing! You will feel like a Jedi, try it..Version: 1.0.0

AmazingA beautiful little app that lets you choose your meditation style. Love the chime intervals feature..Version: 2.5.2

Awesome way to unwind! This app is really a great way to unwind after a stressful day! I’ve recommended it to so many friends. Perfect for exam season or any stressful time. I also love how it keeps track of your time spent meditating and the breaths you’ve done. It’s really cool to be able to look back on my journey over time. The only thing I would like to see more of is more meditation and sleep courses, because the ones currently on the app are awesome..Version: 2.5.2

Great design. Great exercises. And it's completely free.I've used this app for years. It's easy to use. The three different breathing exercises are all really great to know and use in different situations. The mantra meditation course is really awesome and it seems like they make subtle updates to the voices over time. I just re-started the mantra course after doing it a few years ago and it sounded a little different to me which was kinda cool! And there's also just a background noise setting which I use for my partner who likes to have white noise while she sleeps. And it's all free. What's not to love..Version: 2.5.2

Great Customer ServiceNot only is this a great app to use to meditate if you ever have any problems or anything they have a team is super friendly members that want to help you out. I would recommend this for sure..Version: 2.5.2

All You NeedMost apps end up annoying me. Here is a free app that is actually free, not constantly trying to sell me stuff, and has exactly the features I require. A meditation app should be simple and elegant, and this one is just that..Version: 2.5.2

Great appUsed many a different app. Loved this because it’s simple, no cost, no ads, just straight to the point. Beautiful UI too!.Version: 2.5.2

Great appLove this app. If you can, make the chime sounds quieter. Some of the background noises are a bit quieter so I turned it up and almost jumped at the end of my session lol..Version: 2.5.2

Great app, helping me to improve every daySimple and elegant! It’s helping me to transform my life. The included content is high quality and probably all I need, but I think I’d enjoy some new content updates, such as new courses or meditation styles and would pay for them (no subscriptions please!). This app, though, is free and it’s already terrific as-is… maybe it’s best just to leave a good thing alone..Version: 2.5.2

ExcellentJe fais jamais de commentaire, mais cette app est vraiment exceptionnellement efficace en plus d’être gratuite. Je recommande de l’utiliser tous les jours pour des meilleurs résultats!.Version: 2.5.2

This is the bestI love this app. It’s the only one I could find for free I love that because I believe you shouldn’t have to pay to have help with stress or anxiety or sleep. 😁 ♥️.Version: 2.5.2

Perfect app for making breathing part of my daily routineWent out of my way to review this app because I enjoy it so much. Why? It’s extremely simple and I don’t feel like I’m being sold or anything nor trying to navigate a feature-dense platform trying to do too many things at once. I’ve had experiences using meditation apps where in the middle I’m being served a video ad, which, to me, has to be the antithesis of meditation. I use this app 3+ times per day for brief breathing sessions and it improves my mood, focus, and happiness on a daily basis. Highly recommend for someone who wants a simple, but effective app for making breathing part of their daily routine. The creators of this app clearly are in the business of helping users benefit from the power of mindfulness, not trying to sell ad space for money..Version: 2.5.2

Perfect meditation appIt is a simple meditation app. The goal behind it is to learn how to meditate. It’s simple design is the best part. If you want to learn to meditate without the need for an app, then try it..Version: 2.5.2

Perfection!!!This app is amazing, simple and so EASY to use!! It has such an aesthetically pleasing home page while being super user-friendly and very accessible to people low-income. I personally don’t want to buy anything but there are no ads in-app to pressure you and it’s such a calm and easy way to tune-in to your mind before you start your day, during to calm you, or after to reset you. Honestly such a good app, it takes a lot to make me review apps here! Haha 😊.Version: 2.5.2

Love it!!!I love this app, but I wish it had an Apple Watch app.Version: 2.5.2

Perfection in SimplicityI absolutely love this app. It's been the only meditation app I keep coming back to, because of how simple its design is, how easy it is to use, and how no-nonsense it is. The only reason I take off one star is it reset all my progress (streaks, not my actual "level") a little while ago, and I can't find a way to restore them other than rebuilding them up. But that is okay, this is still by far the best meditation app out there..Version: 2.5.2

Simple mais efficaceMerci pour cette application simple mais efficace. Je médite depuis plusieurs années et c’est toujours agréable de découvrir différentes méthodes..Version: 2.5.2

Doesn’t save my progressEvery time I do a session and click log it doesn’t actually log it..Version: 2.5.2

So happy to have foundI’m SO happy to have found this App. It offers such a wholistic approach to compliment your fasting journey encompassing mind, body and spirit. Dr. Attia is amazing in his little videos where you can feel his power to motivate and his relaxed style will draw you in and make you want to do better, be better and you know you will do better as soon as you commit to following along his plan. If I was younger I would try desperately to seek employment with this group of exceptional people at the forefront of the fasting industry and committed to us. There is so much free information and it just makes you want to take the yearly subscription as the free information is so helpful - I’m in ! The Oak App is a life saver. I need help with meditation, mindfulness, and breathing work. It’s so well put together and user friendly I just love it. Thank you Oak.Version: 2.5.2

HelpfulThis app provides a variety of techniques with a variety of types of meditation. It makes things simple yet customizable so it’s perfect for beginners. Overall amazing!!!.Version: 2.5.2

ReliableLove this app. I have been using for 2 years almost daily, reliable and free......Version: 2.5.2

The Best Meditation AppSimple, uncluttered, and a joy to use!.Version: 2.5.2

Amazingly RelaxingI have tried so many apps that claim to relax you, and after only having this one for 2 days, I can say it’s the best. You can have a full, calming experience, without having to pay for a subscription. You can choose your favourite background noise, like rain or white noise, or a male or female voice. I have been particularly stressed lately, and this app has been one of the few things that lets me be at ease. I would gladly recommend it to everyone..Version: 2.5.2

Oak is a great app!I think this is on of the best apps i love doing a nice breathing class in the morning and the night and love the great sounds you can pick out and how you can make list of your day!I just wish you didn’t have to pay for pro though.Version: 2.5.2

This is working out for meFor some reason this little 10 min immersion with my earbuds , sitting in my chair, is showing me a way of ease. I also enjoy the small messages sent as texts every few days . All very lovely.Version: 2.5.2

GreatThis app is all you need. Don’t waste your time with paying a subscription.Version: 2.5.2

Thus far, the BESTThank you to whatever selfless angel created this app, because from what I can tell it’s not trying to sell me anything or get anything from me, it’s only helping - what a beautiful gift. So intuitive, clean and simple, no bells and whistles just very helpful courses and tools to centre oneself. And the narrator has the most soothing voice of all the apps I’ve tried. Thank you🙏.Version: 2.5.2

Love thisI use this everyday, it’s perfect! Good for beginners and regulars I hope they add more to the app soon - it’s awesome.Version: 2.5.2

So goodCant even remember finishing the guided meditations without falling asleep.Version: 2.5.2
