Fun for the 2 of us (:Me and my fiancé have been looking for something we could play back and forth for a while. EXCEPT FOR POKÉMON GO (lol) . We still play gogo every once in a while, but anyways! Back in 2016 ; he was super depressed and started using heavy drugs, he then later after his dad passed away; overdosed mid 2016, he was in a coma for 20ish days and the doctors certified that if he were to wake up out of it that he would never walk and be able to communicate again. Long story short, he woke up around day 23 and within 9 months he was released from the hospitals ICU , he was walking with a cane, and although a little bit slower physically mainly but intellectually a bit as well, after a year he’s not walking, with a slight gait but has most of his balance and strength back, learning how to walk again I’m sure was a whole journey for him in itself but by brain exercises and games like this, he no longer stumbles over what he is trying to say, is his same funny self that I mean around a decade ago and fell in love with . He suffers from a seizure disorder stemming from his anoxic brain injury sustained from his overdose. So yeah I think it’s awesome that technology alows things like this to exist, he was able to pass high school, and actually get a diploma ( he was only halfway through his senior year) , his guardian is releasing him to no longer be a ward of the state of Virginia and he’s his own person again, with thoughts , ideas, opinions, decisions , and we still play this and a few other games that make us think a little bit extra throughout or busy days. Whenever he try’s to write he almost every time has a seizure, but typing and phones don’t affect him the same way, so we’re both thankful . A fun experience absolutely ruined by greedI initially thought this app was a lot of fun, and the additional word games and experience on a digital platform was great. Once you break level 5, ads become enabled… This wouldn’t be a big deal if it was just an ad between each completed game or something reasonable. It’s practically every turn (when it’s not every turn, it’s every 2 turns). It disrupts your thought process and ruins the game. It is quite literally faster to make your move, close the app, and relaunch it!! To add insult to injury, ads also get embedded in the header and footer anywhere they can stick them in the app, and occasionally ads have ads in them. I would be shocked if this wasn’t against the Apple ToS, and I’m planning to look into this. Most apps promise to shut off apps if you make a purchase with real-world currency. Not here, though. You have to subscribe to their monthly service perpetually and if you want to just buy the no-ads experience? $1 for 5 minutes of peace and quiet. That will get you… one turn. This is simply the most revolting case of shovelware ever, and if you’re interested in playing digital scrabble? Look somewhere else. Better match matchingI would give you guys five stars. But it's the matchmaking that irritates me the most; I'm sick and tired of it recommending players to play against when they're not even online to play. The first time I was in a tournament (which was recommended by the computer by the way), I made the first move, and the person I was paired with didn't play for three days, so I forfeited the match. Then I traded a second time, and the person the computer matched me up at least made the first move before disappearing for two days. so far this has happened four times so that’s four matches I had to forfeit from before someone telling me that if the person doesn’t play don’t forfeit the computer will automatically make them the loser depending on who has the highest or lowest score… if this is why the truth why did I sit there for three days I had a way higher score than the other person you guys need to add a sleep or away button or something. To be honest, I don’t care for board games. I hate them. I don’t have the patience for them, and these people are a clear example of why I don’t play with others online and would rather play solo matches or against the computer. Good, but crazy with adsI got this game during COVID so I could continue to keep in touch with family members and play fun interactive games that also kept my brain engaged, and this game is good for that. In general, I understand that ads help to keep a game running if you don’t have to pay for anything before downloading the app itself, but the frequency of each ad in this app is absurd. You can’t go one turn without being forced to sit through a 10 second ad (at least), and often, the game gives so many ads that the app itself freezes and you have to close the app completely in order to get back to where you were. The only reason I still have it downloaded is because my family members enjoy playing with me because we don’t see each other as often as we’d like. If it was up to me, I’d delete it now. I’m sick of it. *Another thing to note: this is true of most apps out there, but there are bots who try to steal your information on this app. There’s a feature where you can send messages to your opponent — which is meant for game history and polite trash talk — and a lot of the fake players will ask you for your name and socials. DisappointingI would like to like this game app however there are some very annoying issues. I’m never going to play with friends and there’s no way to stop the cute little girl from suggesting it. I have to say I’m a visitor every single time I open the app. Then, I just watched an ad and after seriously at least a couple of minutes staring at it I still couldn’t close it. Finally I had to exit the app, then close it out, and reopen it to get back to the game. Major waste of my time. Ads alone are bad enough but shouldn’t last more than a half minute or so. And you can’t get rid of ads without paying $7.99 a month. Too much. I see some of these “boosts” are free and sometimes they have a number by them. I thought maybe the number meant they subtract those points from your score if you used that boost but that didn’t happen when I tried it so I’m not sure what that’s about and even looking up on Google instructions for the game it never made that very clear. I do like a number of things about the game although it’s really not scrabble. There’s so many ways to cheat that unless you have a pact with the person about how far you’ll go to get the best a word you’re going to win every time.I download it the ScrabbleGO cheatSystem which accepts a screenshot of your board and then gives you all the best words. It’s pretty cool but it’s not scrabble and it’s just not fair. I think I’ll keep this app but also there’s another scrabble app out there that’s traditional. I guess it’s nice to have both options. But I wish you’d fix the lengthy ad issue and be able to eliminate having to always turn down a little ladies request to play with friends. Needs to grow up a bitI absolutely love traditional Scrabble and was looking forward to transitioning that romance into the digital age. Scrabble Go's actual gameplay feels wonderfully similar to the traditional board game & even prevents the usual arguments regarding word qualification through the use of its onboard dictionary. However, after an hour of passionately beating the computer opponent and considering inviting friends to download & play, the peripheral segments spoiled the experience and prompted me to remove it entirely. The advertisements started showing up at shorter intervals (ruining the pacing) as did the "prizes" and "level up!" interruptions. Why do we need prizes? Cartoonish treasure chests? Levels? There absolutely needs to be a system in place to prevent grand masters from being blindly paired with beginners, but that could be simply done with an average of historical scores or some such nonsense. I don't need a pat on the back every five minutes . . . I'm using SG for entertainment, not self-help therapy. As for the ads, I'm all about capitalism and would gladly pay $20 for this game just to keep it forever free from interruptions. When Scrabble Go matures a bit, perhaps I'll revisit it but, for now, I'm content with sticking to the board game and leaving the cartoons and ads on tv where they belong..TryonScottVersion: 1.96.0

Friendly game turned into legit scamI’ve been playing off the old/new app over 10 years l. The odds in some adventure/challenge modes are impossible. No player not even grand master bot could possibly win the upper levels. The racks become more and more rigged similar to when playing master and grand master computer mode. You cannot get a obtain a rack to work off of its not randomized. I can accept in that because it’s free. But you cannot advertise a challenge mode as achievable without paying money. Users need to know upfront whether or not the mode is possible without extra payments. This is a lawsuit worthy. User expectations should be clear in a family friendly game when it’s impossible to play based on skill alone. The racks are without doubt not random and designed like a casino to make you pay to keep playing. Again all is fine as long as it’s clear it’s not possible to win without payment. This app could be so much better and keep less obsessive playing and become obsessed, but this business model is overkill and not lawful..SamGoneHamVersion: 1.58.0

Annoying bugs and pushy designThis is mostly great. I like the dictionary integration and that you can play the computer on several levels. There are two pretty annoying things though: 1. There are some bugs with how it shows your score history. If you start to scroll through it, all the sudden the scores will change. The labeled winner for part matches will sometimes be the player with the lower score. It’s just weird. As a side note, I just played a game against the app where it declared the computer the winner after playing the last tile, but it still has two tiles left! You can go back and look at the board, so I was able to take a screenshot where it labels the computer the winner, but we both have tiles left. Weird. 2. The all is pretty pushy about starting new games and challenging random people. It will push my active game with my friend to the end of the list and put challenges from strangers and past games I played against the computer at the top, both of which are useful. I don’t mind watching ads for a free version, but this extra pushiness to play random people is pretty intrusive. The classic gets updated for todayAs somebody who stopped playing Scrabble for lack of real-life opponents who didn’t spend half their time being toxic, this is a bonanza. Sure the UI on the main menu isn’t the best, but the app does a good job making the experience worthwhile, even suggesting opponents who play at your pace. Duels are especially nice because you can squeeze in a quick match in just a few minutes without having to worry about playing a full game. Earning new tile sets to customize your rack with is pretty cool too...I’ve already seen some that scream to me, “I want to earn that!” My only real suggestion for the developers is that I would like to see some puzzles in the sense that you are given a game in progress with words already on the board and a rack to play with, and you need to find the best possible play on the board that you can. I just feel that this would help people become better players by giving them a chance to practice board awareness. Other than that, I love this. Sketchy PoliciesIt’s a fun game with good graphics and in game incentives, and it definitely sharpened my scrabble skill by playing it for a few days, but the privacy policy of the company is rather sketchy. Of course, it’s for the more social applications of this app and you “don’t have to” but there are in-game rewards locked off by requesting you give them your entire contact library or make a facebook account in order to access them. The information usage by the company is vague and threatening, and I don’t want these people to have my address. Though I feel I should point out there’s not as many creeps and scammers as other reviews say, to give them credit. I assume all these info-sucking policies would scare off anyone looking to cause trouble, but I also feel that this invasion of privacy in the name of security is highly upsetting. It’s a decent app and worth your time if you’re willing to sell your soul and personal information for a few in game credits. Please think critically before agreeing to anything this app offers you, and if you’re paranoid like me absolutely do not get it. Fun but quickly infuriatingMe and my boyfriend got this game thinking it’d be a fun time for each of us and it definitely has achieved that despite the annoying “look at this new thing!” stuff that happens whenever you tap outside the home tab. The part where it gets infuriating is whenever I put a few pieces down and there just happens to be another word nearby and the game’s AI thinks that instead of “maid” I was putting down “mn”. Like- I’m not a two year old. I know that “mn” isn’t a word. But what is? Maid. Or another time when I was just blindly guessing in the late-game of one of my matches, and I put Z and D between an O and remembered I had a G. The little box at the top knew I was spelling “Zod” but when I changed the Z to a G, it went “Oh! Gn! Of course!” instead of God. The instance that got me to write this review was when I was playing against one of the AI’s and there was a D and I had a T, O, and an A. You already know that the word I was intending on playing was Toad but since the word “Caw” was above my word, the AI thought “oh!!! They put down T, O, and A next to a D? They must be meaning Cawo”. Yeah, I TOTALLY meant to spell that. Thanks for your help. This happens multiple times in every single game and it has driven me mad. I just want to play a word and have some fun, but the game is incapable of understanding what the player is trying to spell or the player’s train of thought. The solution seems simple enough to me at least. Just make the AI check if any words could be formed by the letters placed in different directions. Or make the AI detect the direction at which the player is placing their letters so that it can make a best guess as to what the player is trying to say. Or just like- make it smarter! I am new and confusedIt seems to be a wonderful app. I was very excited. I was thinking that I could let my other game apps go and do this. So much and many options. The monthly membership was looking very go to me. I only had it for two days and I feel I am going to give up. It is very busy and a lot to choose from. But, the ads are crazy too many. I know Scrabble needs to make money. I have no issue with that. But to be in a solitary game challenge and after every move to be blasted into an ad is very frustrating. In addition, I have lost challenges with fellow players because of this. I could not get back or find my way back to my opponent. I don’t know what happened to them; sometimes later I would get a notification that they made a move and I find them that way. Other times, I don’t know what happen. I was in a solitary challenge and I got a notification from the game saying that there was no connection and my challenge disappeared. I was on the last level of the challenge (22). So, I don’t understand what happened because I was still connected to the app and I did a duel match to see if I could and I did this duel match; so the connection lost wasn’t my internet. My game has vanished. I don’t know if this is a way to get people to become a monthly member etc. To not allow people to finish their game is wrong. I am not going to give money until my experiences are better. I know you will not miss my $8.00 a month. Give the people time to check out the app! So, I don’t like to rate right away. I like to give the app a few weeks. I hope to come back, update and give a better rating of my experiences. I am going to give myself a break for right now. Ads make game hang upIf i am trying to have a duel and the game can’t locate an opponent for me, it closes me completely out of the app, and it takes about 40 seconds to open back into the app when that happens. Trying to play duels is also extremely frustrating if you aren’t willing to pay to go ad-free. The candy crush ad for example won’t let me X out (I have waited as long ad 90 seconds for the x to appear) but if I press “play free” to get it over with it takes me to the crush app download so apparently you have to download candy crush before you can play another scrabble duel. Or you can just close out of scrabble go and come here to give scrabble go a poor review because so many ads crash the app. Also it is Hard to figure out why they keep delaying play time to award trophies, which don’t seem to mean anything as far as rewarding you with a better experience. If anything, I seem to get a higher number of vowel-free boards as I gain trophies. Overall a Pretty Fun App (but please fix programming error)Even though she knows every word in the dictionary, I prefer to play Zoey, the computer, so as to avoid run-ins with creeps and scammers, and the games move along much faster. Tonight, however, I won a game I should’ve lost by a few points due to a programming error in which your app erroneously gave me credit for playing the last tile when I, in fact, did not. This has happened several times before, but it didn’t make a difference in whether I won or lost. So tonight, for the first time, I felt no satisfaction in winning. Also, I’ve learned not to trust the computer when it makes a word suggestion for me, as I believe it has Zoey’s best interest at heart and not mine. The notifications..This is a great app to play when you’re trying to pass the time. However, with that being said- it does NOT mean I want to be reminded every 10 minutes that the app is on my phone. The fact that there are no notifications settings on an app like this is mind boggling. Also the amount of pop ups within the app for “challenges” is more than annoying. I just enjoy playing scrabble, if I want to do a challenge, I will. I don’t need it to interrupt whatever I’m doing on the app or have it pop up and disrupt what I’m trying to do every time I open the app or go to the main screen. Lastly, after every turn I play on a game I’m in, the “more games” section pops up and is completely unnecessary. Again, if I wanted to switch games I can easily do that myself. I don’t need the app popping up in my face telling me to. Please make the app more customizable- the amount pop ups within the app (not ads, but game features) absolutely wrecks my phone battery and is frustrating. This game is bad and not for childrenBeside the fact that the algorithm used in this game is faulty and can give you all vowels over and over and over, the interface is so distracting that it is difficult to play the game. Even when I switched to classic play, I still get ads some of which are almost x-rated. I often get match requests which I decline, but I do not want some stranger reaching out to me. There is no way to turn this off. All of the requests are from men, which makes me suspicious that these are pedophiles out looking for a pick up. And sure enough, I read many reviews that have experienced someone trying to pick them up. I am ashamed and disgusted with Hasbro for not taking more care to produce and maintain a game that is more in line with the real thing. I want to only use Words with Friends, but my sister likes to play this game and she is the only one I play this with. I would pay for a game to give me a the ability to play clean without any interference and distractions, and from the reviews, it seems like other scrabble lovers feel the same way. There is just NO WAY that this game could possible have a rating higher than 4 when you see all of the low ratings. I’ve even tried to report this game to Apple but there is no button to do that for some reason. *update - my sister finally consented to give up playing on this app after many games of deal after deal of all vowels or all consonants. Want to be frustrated? Get this game!There are SO many ads. After every turn there’s an ad. You win a prize? Yay an ad. You get a charm that makes it ad free? Great, but you have to watch one first to activate it. But that’s not all that’s wrong with this app. Doing adventures, duels, and challenges to win cool tiles is pointless. You don’t get to choose the tile when you earn enough coins. You get a random one from the 3 preselected options. If you get a duplicate, instead of just giving you the one you don’t already have, they give you scrabble coins. Which in theory would make up for that. However, it’s just a way to shove 3 hideous tile options at you, forcing you to pick between horrible, awful, and worse. This game is also full of bugs. There’s a lot of glitches and I’m sure it’s due to the million ads that are continually running in the background. Not to mention the pop ups for other things in the app. If this app is supposed to be full of other fun games beyond scrabble, it seriously needs work. The basic scrabble is just fine. All of the other stuff is terrible and sloppy. But even if you just want to play basic scrabble with your friends, this isn’t a great place to be because the app is constantly bombarding you with information about random stuff that you’re earning and that you can win. There is no app for Scrabble playersScrabble is a simple game and does not require all the ridiculous frills that Hasbro has decided to lard onto this app. The game is now even more difficult to enjoy than the previous EA Scrabble app, which was absolutely terrible. Of course the reason for the dumb frippery and cartoons that impede gameplay on this app is monetize it, which is an odd approach to take with one of the most successful board games in history. I bought the previous app for $10 to get rid of the ads, which, fine, that’s what one does nowadays. I used it for years, so all in all it was ten bucks well spent, but the deal now for Hasbro’s loyal customers is $4.99 PER MONTH, or put up with the stupidest ads in the world interrupting gameplay every other move, ads that blast music and use deceptive links to trick you into clicking through to some idiotic site. That’s how little Hasbro thinks of its customers — the company takes money from charlatans and lets them try to fleece us. If you’re a fan of Scrabble, you will hate this app, but it’s the only way to play the game online. You will probably eventually decide to fork over 60 bucks a year just to make playing the game a little less unbearable, with little hope that the company won’t then take what you’ve paid for, lock half the features and then make you pay for it again. Why wouldn’t they? Hasbro doesn’t care about Scrabble and they see Scrabble players as marks to squeeze money out of. Problems During Prize GivingI picked this app up because on FB, there was a lull with making the updates. I noticed with this app on my tablet, there isn’t a problem when rejecting the prize to go to the next game and to avoid the ads. But when you decide to accept the prize, all of a sudden there is a pop up declaring that something is wrong with the system. Ok, but what is the alternative? Will I get a chance later? Is there a cancellation prize for the inconvenience? Nope. You have to forfeit the prize. Isn’t it funny, nothing is wrong with the system when the same ads come on over and over and over again between games? To the creators, if you are interested in making the game less annoying: when playing the mini word games within (like the trophy game and bayou), the player should have a choice whether to use all of his/her tickets or not. The player shouldn’t be forced to spend his/her coins if there is a ticket left. Did you really design the game to see if you could control one’s spending? I did notice that when I used my tickets and had 101 coins to start off, at the end of playing 4 games and spending 5 coins per continuance, I saw I had 72 coins left. How? That would mean 29 coins were spent. That not even divisible of 5. That would mean I played 5 games and your game stole an extra 4 coins. Wow!.HezmyjoyVersion: 1.33.4

Why even call it Scrabble. What an abomination.15 minutes. That’s all it took. 15 minutes before I realized some underage gamer had destroyed what was one of the best games ever invented - so I deleted it. I’m not a prude. I’m not technically challenged. I see younger generations struggling every day with attention span issues. I get it. But not everybody needs bells and whistles and jewels and God knows what else is imbedded in the Scrabble Go app to be entertained. If it’s about money then charge me more for the app, but to destroy a simple quality intellectual game like Scrabble and turn it into a moronic video game is asinine. You clearly could have included an option for people to choose the classic version - which, if it is available, I was unable, well unwilling, to wade through the nonsense to find it. That would have met everybody’s needs. We’re getting far enough along in the technology craze that not every computer geek or technology buff or game player is a 15 year old kid with the attention span of a goldfish. And the need to pander to said demographic while ignoring others may be at the detriment of your company. Consider there are actually older people -with money - who enjoy technology, that you may want to address in your product development and marketing efforts. If you’re designing a new game - no problem. But to destroy such a classic for no apparent reason is just ridiculous. Huge disappointment, a horrific travestyI recently got an iPhone and eagerly downloaded the scrabble go app. My grandparents and I have a special scrabble relationship and, during this covid19 crisis, it was especially important for me to have that connection with them. Upon opening the app, however, I was mortified at the sickening color palette, juvenile graphics/silly tile design options, and unnecessary and childish reward systems. The first game I had was against the computer, an airhead named Zoey. In addition to her oversized balloon head, I’d estimate her average word score is about 12 points. She uses words like “died” and “later” with no regard for letter worth or tile bonuses. I had used the old scrabble app on my parents’ phones before (a fantastic app because of its traditional and simple appearance and playing experience) and usually had the computer set to expert mode. There is no option for this in scrabble go. When additionally considering the ability to see which tiles are still in the bag (or what your opponents have), knowing if your word on the board is valid without submitting it, and the lack of a dictionary in the app, I can wholeheartedly proclaim scrabble go a disgrace to the scrabble community and to families like my own who cherish scrabble as a fundamental aspect of gatherings and communal socialization. If you are a five year old reading this review, please do get the app; you’ll have great fun with it. Cluttered, greedy, and obnoxiousIf you enjoy Scrabble, I’m sorry to say you missed your chance if you didn’t previously download the no longer available EA version of Scrabble. Somehow, it’s been replaced by this meretricious monstrosity of an app that’s all flashy bells and whistles. Classic game play is second to invite-your-friends and in-app purchases that skew the game away from skill and practice. I deleted it the day I downloaded it. I was really hoping it would improve upon the few limitations of the previous app, but no such luck. This app takes everything I hate about Words with Friends and makes it much worse. There was zero need for this app in the market. It offers nothing new, unless you count the headache you get from watching all the gem showers. Please. Am I four years old? You know that grown-ups play these games too, yeah? I don’t need to customize my tiles every three minutes, but thanks. Oddly enough that’s not what makes the game great. Good, honest competitors make Scrabble great, but no one serious is gonna stick around for this sparkly garbage. Since this app manufacture now holds the license, perhaps they will consider offering an alternative app — a Scrabble Classic version that’s less like Candy Crush and more like the board game with a faithful and serious following. To offset the revenue loss from gems, etc., they could even charge a premium. I’d pay at least $20 for an elegant classic version that will outlast the EA one once the lack of support takes its toll. Its not just the ads, or the frequency….There are so many ads, yes, and $10 PER MONTH to get rid of them, which is more than some streaming services is a but much, but thats not what got me to delete the app. It was while I’m at the ice rink, while my daughter is skating, and despite my phone being on silent, an ad comes on at high volume “I’M A 34DD!” before I can close the app. Ads that don't respect volume settings crosses the line for me. Not to mention I had to use facebook to log in, you should be able to get my gender from that, and maybe targeting me, a man, with bra ads isn’t the smartest thing? Aside from the cost of ad free, and the technical problem of ads ignoring silent mode, the final bit that was annoying is that it drinks battery life like nothing I’ve seen. I would play for 15 minutes or so and my iPhone was hot to the touch. This would also lead to the app starting to become less responsive. The game itself worked fine otherwise, and the adventure mode was fun, but its nowhere near worth it. A real shame this and Words with Friends are unable to provide a quality app experience at a reasonable price. The free to play model works for other games with a good experience, and the whales pay for the cosmetics. Absolutely awfulI agree with every other one-star reviewer I’ve read: this new version is truly awful! There is literally nothing good about it. My husband and I couldn’t even figure out how to play a game for several minutes because of the assault to our eyes upon opening the app. It turned out that the button to play a new game was right in the middle of the page, but all the other visual distractions made it difficult to notice. Very frustrating! I’ve played Scrabble since I was a kid and have enjoyed the previous app for at least ten years. It actually mimicked the board game but made it better by adding a teacher component. This version takes that, and the simplicity of the board, completely away leaving nothing left that is of any interest to either me or my husband. RuinedHorrible game. The home screen is garish and blinding. Everything is flashing and sparkles and animations. In the few games I played there are so many interruptions with awards and rank ups and so on I could barely actually play scrabble. The ads are annoying and worthless (at least serve interesting relevant ads). If they ever manage to tone down the game I’d consider maybe coming back. I’d even like to pay to remove the ads, but there’s ZERO chance I’d ever pay $5/MONTH to do so for some useless club I have no interest in any of the features of. Maybe $3 ONCE to remove ads. Awful for all of these reasons…1) My experience with the game so far indicates that most to all of the players I’ve played against are actually bots. It has made for very poor play. 2) About 40% of the time I use this app it not only freezes, it freezes my entire device locking my screen and preventing me from doing anything for several seconds, including closing the app or turning my device off. 2) There are so many distractions getting in the way of actually playing a game on this app it has become incredibly annoying to use. But it’s like the app is trying to rob all possible joy out of the experience, it’s incredible to see it working against itself with such vigor. Just like classic Scrabble....Except you can earn rewards. Which we can all agree was the biggest thing missing from the old board game. And you can “level up”. Which is something I was writing to Hasbro about for years. “Hasbro, why does this exceptionally simple and perfectly executed board game not allow me to level up and earn rewards?” I guess they finally heard me. Disappointing Money GrabMany years ago I had purchased the EA sports version of this app. I had taken a hiatus from playing and recently decided to pick it back up and was bummed to find out that the EA version had been mothballed. I downloaded this version of the game it was completely disgusted. It took a while to figure out that you could wade through the ADHD candy crush version of games they offered to fined a Version close to the original. However there’s no purchase option for the app, You have to pay these jokers quarterly to keep from being bombarded by ads for other moronic and insulting games this company peddles. I supposedly received a free three month trial version of the ad free game. That lasted about six days and then the janky ads came back. I get it, the old version it was a one off sale for the developer. Now they load this game up with multiple add-on charges that used to be part of the game. Too many scammersI like the game and the arena. Climbing the ladder through different divisions. The tumblers are probably my favorite. My biggest problem is this game is FULL of scammers. People using fake pictures, wanting to chat and giving some fake sob story then wanting you to go to hangouts or other apps so they can ask/beg for money. I complained MANY times and none were removed. There were using pictures like Joe Cross who is commonly used by scammers, and using a different name. I proved it over and over and the players were allowed to continue. Absolutely no protection whatsoever. There say they can’t tell you the result of the investigation but if I continue to see the player active, I know nothing was done. I’ve come and gone on this game many times because there are things I like about it. But within a day a scammer will hit and it aggravates me that I can’t play and enjoy. Ad Free isn’t Ad FreeI used to really enjoy this game. A few years ago I decided to pay for ad free gaming because it just took too long to play all of my matches with ads between every match. However, recently the game makers have found ways to make you watch ads more frequently. You want to collect your earned rewards, you must watch 3 ads. You want to play in a tournament, you must watch ads. They’ve also increased how many points you must earn per chest level, making it take twice as long to earn each rewards chest. For someone like me that works 10-12 hour days with kids and a family, this used to be a quick and satisfying game to play. I could play all of my matches in the early morning, earn all my chests in about an hour and be done for the day. Now, I can only collect one reward a day in the same amount of time, the rewards are much less than they used to be, and you have to watch about a minute and a half of ads to collect your rewards. Terrible replacement for the classic game!!If you enjoyed the simplicity and ease of use of the old EA Scrabble game, you will HATE this app. There are way too many extra features that do nothing to enhance gameplay, but instead are attempts to get players to sink unnecessary money into the game. The teacher mode that so many of us used in the old version is only free once or twice, then you have to spend gems to use it. The two word reference sheet in the dictionary is gone (and if it isn’t gone, I sure haven’t been able to find it). The classic board (as the developers will tell you) technically exists, but it’s not immediately obvious WHERE it is. If you’re going to try to sell fans of the old version on this new version by claiming that the board we all love is there, it shouldn’t be so hard to find. Ridiculous.I usually don’t write reviews if an app is bad, but this one has undoubtedly made me so furious for the following reason: The entire app isn’t dedicated to the actual game. Junk!Perhaps this game appeals to a different demographic, but not me. At one time I actually chose my phone based on whether I could play the official classic Scrabble game. I do not want to play a word game that doesn’t use the official classic Scrabble board so I am trying to adapt to to this unnecessarily flashy game. Not sure if I speak for other classic players, but I miss the teacher and playing against multiple computer opponents. Scrabble Meets Las Vegas, and We All LoseI have played Scrabble most of my life and love the simplicity of the game. Enjoyed the Scrabble app immensely. Terrible all aroundThere is really nothing to like about this app. The ridiculous bells and whistles that distract and detract have been written about by nearly every reviewer. In addition, I object to the tiny board with tiles so small I can’t read their scores and an automatic scoring aid that I also need to get out reading glasses to decipher. Luckily I’ve been playing all my life so I can add the scores in my head but other Scrabble apps had no issue here. More annoying is the tile bag. The EA game (which was reliably unreliable but so much better than this mess of an app) had a running count of how many letters left in the game. The “tile bag” option here tells you this as well as what letters are left! I find that an extremely obnoxious cheat. I’m also tired of getting notices on my phone that “Kelly” or whomever is waiting for me to play. I do not appreciate my name and photo getting shared with random strangers. I get more notices about stuff like this than I do the actual notices of my real friends/opponents taking their turns. This app really stinks and I beg Scopely to provide a Classic Scrabble version that cuts the cartoon crap, removes the social networking prompts, removes cheat prompts (swap tiles for free?!?), and restores the board and tile bag counter to normal. Fun But AnnoyingI enjoy playing this game, but there are so many annoying aspects. Let’s start by the fact that I had nowhere to post feedback other than here. I tried to do through the game, but the chat buttons the bot directed me too were not on my screen. There is no way to talk to a human being through “contact us” either. The animations are way too long and intrusive. I don’t collect points unless it’s a high value, b/c it’s an actual chore to do so. Do Not Trust Them! They refuse to delete account.This is a shady company! I’ve been trying to delete my account for almost a week now. I filled everything out online as their agreement notes. It didn’t get deleted so I emailed their customer service. Someone named Maxx contacted me asking me for the same exact information that I already filled out online. They ask for so many details and I had already deleted the app itself. I told him why do I need to provide the information a second time? Then someone named Mark contacted me and said their support online form has nothing to do with them! So I had to download the app again! It’s good for their ratings. I sent all the information again! Absolutely horrible!Wow! Way to ruin a classic. It looks like a magical unicorn barfed all over it. I’m just here for the Scrabble, man…I’m passionate about Scrabble, and as this is the only real app available, I play it a lot. That being said, the app has a LOT of issues. The app itself is glitchy as all get out. The coding is messy and features don’t always work as they should. Rewards cannot often be collected. Tournaments take your diamonds, but never load. Ads (of which there are MANY) often don’t load correctly, freeze, or crash the app all together. It’s kinda a mess. But the big thing I want to mention is the fact that the chat feature has been infiltrated by so-called “romance scammers”. They ALL have the same MO. 40-60 year old handsome men (or ladies, imagine, depending on who you are), that play the game terribly, start a friendly chat, and eventually start asking for more and more personal information. Initially, I would mess with them, but now it’s gotten old as about half of any games I start wind up being with scam players. It’s obnoxious, and frankly unsettling. Pretty bummedHi scopely I’m glad I still have access to the old scrabble. Tbh this is just all around weird to market scrabble like this. If you want to attract real scrabble players then please have a version that is the same as the ea one. Namely, the ability to look up a word if it’s not your turn or in play, and the teacher should always be free, not free for a little while. Honestly that was such a turn off. The needless animation is also kind of terrible and I find myself quitting the application just so I don’t have to click through a series of annoying clicks to buy a subscription for $5 a month I’m never gonna get. OMG! The ads!I love Scrabble and have been hanging on to the original version of the app despite its having been unsupported for years because I like playing games against the computer. At first Scrabble Go did not include this feature. When I heard that it now did, I downloaded it right away and began excitedly playing. At first, the ad experience seemed typical...annoying, but pretty easy to cut short and get back to playing. Apparently though, their ad algorithm makes it seem that way at first in order to lure you in, but once you've been playing for a few days, suddenly you are inundated with ads (every turn or two if you're playing a typical game) and have no ability to quickly close them or fast forward them. I play Scrabble quickly. On the old app, a typical game against the computer would take less than 5 minutes since the computer would always play its turn instantly. On the Go app, the AI is quite slow and the endless repetitive ads it forces me to watch make the game utterly unplayable. NopeJust no. The previous version was a nice way to relax before bed. I just want a simple game. This does the opposite. This version is not simply Scrabble. It has 20 different ways to play and more games and options pop up while I’m playing. There are challenges and “prizes” to be won. I paid for the old version to get rid of ads and popups. This version has so many distracting popups - it constantly tells me I earned some points, leveled up, might want to use a cheat that I might was to pay for. Playing against “Zoey” is not the same, or even enjoyable. Zoey tries to teach me how to play. This version works hard to get me to play against other humans, but I really like to pick up a game and play a few turns, then go away for the rest of the day. Many users may not realize that sharing address book data with the app will allow Scopely to know who all your contacts are, and sell the data about those connections to advertisers. Further, once you grant this access, everyone in your address book who also plays Scopely scrabble will be able to see your scrabble activity from their app. The app aggressively pursued this data access and made it extremely difficult to connect with my friends without granting address book access.
