Milestones matter! Track your child’s milestones from age 2 months to 5 years with CDC’s easy-to-use checklists; get tips from CDC to support your child’s development; and find out what to do if you ever have concerns about your child's development.

From birth to age 5, your child should reach milestones in how he or she plays, learns, speaks, acts and moves. Photos and videos in this app illustrate each milestone and make tracking them for your child easy and fun! Spanish photos and videos are coming soon!

Features:
• Add a Child – enter personalized information about your child or multiple children
• Milestone Tracker – track your child’s development by looking for important milestones using an interactive checklist
• Milestone Photos and Videos – know what each milestone looks like so that you can better identify them in your own child.
o Due to COVID-19, photos and videos to support the updated milestones have been delayed for the Spanish checklists but will be added in a future update.
• Tips and Activities – support your child’s development at every age
• When to Act Early – know when it’s time to “act early” and talk with your child’s doctor about developmental concerns
• Appointments – keep track of your child’s doctors’ appointments and get reminders about recommended developmental screenings
• Milestone Summary – get a summary of your child’s milestones to view, and share with or email to your child’s doctor and other important care providers

For more information and free tools to help you track your child’s milestones, visit www.cdc.gov/ActEarly.

*This milestone checklist is not a substitute for a standardized, validated developmental screening tool. These developmental milestones show what most children (75% or more) can do by each age. Subject matter experts selected these milestones based on available data and expert consensus.

CDC's Milestone Tracker Positive Reviews

Easy to track milestones for multiple kidsI am enjoying this app that I found by looking at a healthcare site. It has an easy to understand interface and adding multiple children was easy. For the milestones, you can look at each section individually or use the tool that goes through all sections while you answer if your child can do the milestones. The answers are ‘yes’ ‘not yet’ and ‘no’. There are usually short videos that demonstrate the milestone. After you answer all the milestones, it provides you with a summary that you can email or send to your child’s physician. The summary is also saved in the app. This is a very easy to use and helpful app that I’m grateful to have found..Version: 2.5

Good but needs to build on what they have! The CDC website has so much valuable information. Being a nurse with babies, there is so much potential here that the CDC hasn’t touched. CDC states how breastfeeding stops before 6 months of life (only 22% of mothers continue exclusive BF at this time) because of lack of info, lack of support, and other reasons. This app can help health care providers get parents in touch with breastfeeding support and education. I wish this app would add in the charts for breastmilk storage PDF, safe sleep PDF, how to safely transport breastmilk, ten steps of successful breastfeeding list, etc. (can further expand to provide parents with BF support links like La Leche League, and mental health support, and new family support!!) All of this needs to be incorporated because no parent knows how to navigate the CDC for this information until a healthcare provider shows them. The website is not “patient” friendly, but is “user” friendly. The app can make this “patient” friendly because this can start in the hospital when a baby is born!! Come on CDC, please take my advice! Make this more comprehensive, my patients will love it and then I will become a strong advocate for this in our hospital!!.Version: 2.5

One and doneI wish there was a way to unmark because I’ve accidentally tapped on a milestone while scrolling. The thing that bothers me is that every time I open the app, it prompts to “add a child.” Due to health, fertility, & so on, I cannot have another even though I’ve always dreamed of 2. It’s just a reminder I can’t turn off/disable that constantly saddens me..Version: 2.5

Can use a few updatesI like this app so far. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and like how the information is populated for the child’s age. I do think they could use a minor update on how the milestones are tracked in correlation to the age you enter for your child. For instance my child is 22 months and I skipped ahead and checked off items for her in the 30 month old section and expected that it would tell me how she is tracking based on other children her age but instead it registered as she might be delayed because I didn’t check all the sections in the 30 month old section. It would be a nice addition if this feature was updated. Otherwise the app seems to work pretty well..Version: 2.3

Great app and question for developersI used to recommend this app to parents for work, and now I’m using it for myself. It’s great to track milestones, and it directly correlates with the Ages and Stages Questionnaire. I love the activities and the opportunity for anticipatory guidance so parents know what to look out for. I have a question for the developers. Is there an opportunity to share a child with another caregiver on a separate device? I’m interested in sharing developmental progress with my husband so that he can see what I input on his own device and visa versa. If this is a possibility, I will edit my review to reflect 5 stars instead of 4. Thank you!.Version: 2.1

As a pediatrician, I highly recommend this app. This is a wonderfully useful app (particularly since it is free). The milestone checklist with photo / video descriptions and the appointment reminders are awesome. It even allows you to make notes and email / print out the milestones met and your personal notes for the doctor visit. The development and public distribution of this app is a good use of our tax dollars..Version: 1.0.50

Could do moreThe best resource for information on milestones and checking them off and knowing when to talk to your pediatrician. However it’s a very small scope of functionality and I’d only have reason to open the app about once every month or just before appointments. I’d love it if it recommendations on amount of time you should spend doing things like tummy time and other activities and have a timer/tracker for that. Then I would use the app everyday..Version: 2.1

Too focused on missing milestonesThis app is helpful to track milestones but is EXTREMELY focused on missing milestones. One improvement in the app could be less of a focus on parental fears and referring parents to a doctor for everything. He’s hitting his milestones by the end of the period, but the format still causes unnecessary worry with some of the prompts when he doesn’t hit every milestone in the time frame. Overall I like being able to track the milestones though..Version: 2.5

Version 2.0 is a nice upgradeThis app is really the best resource I’ve seen for tracking your child’s development over time. The only downside to version 2.0 is that all your data from the prior version gets erased. Wish the app had a way to share child data with other people/devices. The developer could allow data sharing/transfer via airdrop or maybe email in the event they don’t want to store data for users..Version: 2.0

Great but could be more inclusiveI just downloaded this app to help us (mum and dad) monitor our kiddos' growth and lesson prep! I really love this app and feel like it's so much more helpful than milestone sheets at the doctor's office. However, one of our children has been diagnosed with ASD. I wish there was an option to add that and that then Milestone goals would reflect a more accurate measure for him (and kids like him)..Version: 2.5

GlitchI love this app. Wonderful videos for families to understand each question. I encourage my clients to download and use. However, several families have noted when they enter their child’s date of birth, it incorrectly gives them the month. A child born in September who is currently 8mo is showing 6 months in the app. She and I both entered info several times to no avail. This has happened with several families..Version: 1.0.50

Love itI love the milestones it goes through. It helps any parent keep an eye on current milestones as well as see what’s coming up next. My favorite part is how the app gives ideas on how to continue supporting development at home with play and daily routines. This is great for any parent to have for each child..Version: 2.5

So helpfulSo nice to know what to be looking for around each age group, and be able to skip ahead to upcoming developmental milestones to know wat to be looking for. The videos and feedback are really helpful and the whole vibe is very encouraging and non judgmental. I feel empowered going into the pediatrician’s office already well informed..Version: 2.5

Like this app but says my child is 14 months when he’s 2 monthsMy baby was born in November 2020 but the app keeps showing as 14 month old baby. I think this is a bug? ~update~ Lol fail. User error. Pregnancy brain still happens post partum apparently.Version: 2.1

Broken linksI like that the app tries to connect families with concerns to resources and programs in their state. HOWEVER, for Massachusetts users, the link for more information about Early Intervention goes to the Head Start webpage, and the link for more information about Head Start is broken..Version: 2.5

Simple, easy and comprehensive milestone trackingMy wife and I love this app. It’s straight and to the point and very comprehensive with helpful videos. It provides way more milestones than my pediatrician even asks about. It’s rare to have a utility app this good..Version: 2.5

Great for parentsWhen my kids were under 2, I found this app quite useful to track their development including the reminder to bring concerns up with the pediatrician..Version: 1.1.86

It’s okay...The app gives milestones but doesn’t account for the actual windows, your kid may be several months behind but still okay developmentally. They may be different at the beginning of the month than the end of the month. Take everything with a grain of salt... it’s good to acknowledge what your goals are for your child..Version: 1.0.50

MilestonesI love this app and it such a relief being able to track my child’s milestones. Highly recommend this app to family and friends who are first time moms..Version: 2.5

Great tool to use in partnership with PCPWe use this to track general milestones and bring the listing to wellness visits. It’s helped us be aware of where our son should be developmentally..Version: 2.5

Doesn’t show milestones listI thought this app would show things a child should be doing at each age level. Instead it just asks a couple basic questions and that’s it. I would love for it to have a checklist..Version: 2.5

DecentIt’s a great app. I’m a first time mom and it has helped me a lot. It definitely gives me a reminder for what to ask my dr at my baby’s appointments..Version: 2.5

Easy to useI’m a childcare teacher and I love this useful and easy to use app..Version: 2.5

More languages pleaseI’d love to recommend this product to my clients but, since it only comes in English and Spanish, most of my refugee clients won’t be able to use it. Please expand the language options and be sure to include Haitian Creole, Ukrainian, Russian, Dari, Farsi, and Somali..Version: 2.5

Love the ideaI love the idea of this app, but would like to have the options of editing in other milestones to track.Version: 2.5

Great app—would love to see it extended for older ages.Would be amazing if I could continue to use this past age 5!.Version: 1.1.34

Wow!!!So much great information in an easy-to-use format. The CDC got it—a handy parent tool!.Version: 2.5

App crashesWhen you try to turn off notifications, the app crashes and it’s not letting you turn them off..Version: 1.1.85

Developmental milestonesOn point with child development. Great that premature birth is taken into consideration!.Version: 2.5

Great app! This is the perfect app for tracking your child’s milestones..Version: 1.0.50

Awesome app!Awesome app and easy to track my child’s development!.Version: 1.1.34

Stop conflating gender and sexUsing sex and gender appropriately would help dissociate the two for parents and healthcare providers still living in the Stone Age..Version: 2.2

Great App from a reputable source!Great and reputable source for milestones. Glad they made an app!.Version: 1.0

Excellent!Excellent tool to learn about and track developmental milestones..Version: 1.0

Height and weightThere needs to be the ability to add a decimal point in this entry.Version: 2.5

No option for adjusted ageGreat concept but not good for preemies as there is no option to enter an adjusted age so that milestones are appropriate for your child..Version: 1.1.34

App is not in SpanishLas instrucciones dicen que está en ingles y español pero al bajar la aplicación. Todo aparece en inglés.Version: 1.1.80

Was great but…New update reset the checklists and now the checklists don’t work? Sends an error and when you retry it sends it back to the homepage!.Version: 2.2
