Star Trek Fleet Command App Comments & Reviews

Star Trek Fleet Command Positive Reviews

It’s a GrindI give this game 4 stars. I enjoy it but it’s work, and with my busy life, I can only play it mobile. Why 4 stars? It’s a real grind and it can take up a lot of your time if you let it. There are 3 ways to advance in this game. Fast: pay to play. Medium: play on a budget. Slow: free to play. I’m medium but my alliance members think I’m strictly a pay to play player. I’m not. I learned how to play the game. I can only afford the Elite Monthly Battle Pass. That’s twenty dollars a month. During each Battle Pass I stack resources and advance my station and ships. Also, research helps tremendously in both areas. I have purchased a couple ships, particularly the Saladin and Vidar but I could have gotten those free if I had patience. You can also obtain resources by looting the stations of other players. I don’t like doing that. People spend real money on this game. I’ll only loot out of retaliation. Last tip, there are a lot of bullies. It’s a war game. Completing your Daily goals is key. Why? If you do, the game gives you a 4-hour, 8-hour and 12-hour shield each day for free. That’s 24 hours of protection from would be thieves that can come and take your resources. Hope this review helps..Version: M47.0.0

A game for long term playersI have had this game for over 2 years taking a long break in middle and coming back to it. And i have become a daily player of the game. I rate this game highly because it does its job as a game, it’s fun and intriguing and the hiccups it has does not discourage me from playing. A lot of players complain that in order to get ahead you need to spend a lot on in store purchases and that’s not the case, this is a strategy game that is meant to be played long term, I’ve spent maybe $40 on this game but they’re few console games that only cost $40 that I’ve spent this much time playing. There are players that are wildly more powerful than me and I’ve talked to them and they don’t spend a fortune, they just play the game the way it’s meant to be played. One thing that really stands out to me about this game is the online players, I’ve never played another game where the online community was this well organized with their alliances. Most of the players are older and Star Trek fans and they appreciate what the game is about and the respect they have for other players is different from any other game I’ve played. Even after all of this time playing I am still learning new things about this game and that can be said for few games. I throughly enjoy playing Fleet command and will continue playing for the foreseeable future..Version: M54.0

Great Strategy GameI’m comparing the game to other strategy games like it, so the 5 stars is relative. There are things I don’t like about it, but comparatively speaking, it’s the best mobile strategy game I’ve ever played. (I’ve spent a lot of time playing Game of War: Fire Age and West Game as well as STFC.) First, I love Star Trek, so I’m biased right out the gate. Other things I like that separate it from other games: they give enough free peace shields per day if you do all your daily tasks to stay shielded 24/7. There are limits, especially for low level players, on who can attack you. Until you get higher level, only players within 2 levels of you can attack you. You NEVER run out of stuff to do. In fact, the more you play, it can get downright overwhelming how much there is to keep you busy. That being said, there are downsides. Like other strategy games, it’s impossible to be a top player without spending. There are a lot of f2p players who enjoy the game a lot, and you can do everything, but it just takes A LOT longer. I’m one of those who spends a little, and I’m in the mid-range as far as power. Of course, there are whales who spend thousands who you’ll never be able to compete with. However, my server, and I believe most if not all servers, have player-organized/enforced Rules of Engagement that limit bullying and sheer domination by p2p players..Version: M47.2.2

Decent game ruined by developer’s optimization for making you payI downloaded this game hoping for a nice mobile version of Stellaris in the Star Trek universe and it is a decent version of that, I guess. You get to build and level up a star base and manage and level up your ships and crew. The MMO aspect isn’t terrible, although you seem to get ganked a lot if you leave your ship outside of your station when you’re not logged in. The problem is that playing it is like watching the home shopping network because you can’t do anything without having to click through a way to pay more money to reduce the pain of progression. Every resource either costs money or is in a random loot box so there is no strategy for resource management other than just keep clicking (unless you want to pay to click less). All the new content is behind battle passes and loot boxes so all you can do to meet your goals is just keep paying. When I added up all the cost in micro transactions to make this more like a decent PC game, I’d have to pay many multiple times what I’d pay for Stellaris on PC in order to make this game enjoyable. I get that the devs need to make money but I’d much prefer a monthly subscription to a decent game over the constant begging and slot machine mechanics that mobile gaming has become. If I wanted to hang out in a casino I’d go to Vegas..Version: M55

If you want to play for free, you will be punished for itThis game is well designed with amazing detail and intricacies. The opportunity for choosing your own adventure is endless. The entire thing is well done. I’m sure it wasn’t cheap. If you want to play for free or FTP as we are known in the game, you will pay for that in other ways. Scopely designs subtle issues that reek havoc on advancement and fair play. The game is still fun but can get very frustrating when one of these issues pops up. You’ll have to wait, or spend earned credit of some sort, or just sit back and watch while the rest of the (paying) server keeps at it. Or start paying for resources of some kind. A notable issue with this game as well are rogue players who will destroy everything you have worked for, sometimes forcing you to waste assets, or resources that you may have paid actual money for. Scopely sees these folks as a way to make more money as the players who get hit spend money to repair or fix that damage. These clowns will argue with the entire server to justify their stupidity. Ultimately they will end up spoiling the game and there have been many players who have quit because they go unchecked and unstopped. The game is well designed. Be aware that it has a few issues that, when encountered, will cause immense stress and emotion. Play at your own risk..Version: M58.1

3 starsI gave three stars to star fleet command . One there is no alliances war being conducted with other alliances besides targeting miners with alliances or floating ships with alliance . Secondly the resources take to progress a ship is to long and only event ships are the best power houses. Thirdly the amount of officer exp needed to level them up and promote is to high for the quest rewards because at certain point in leveling the operation building . The fourth thing recruiting new officers or getting them promoted is to hard because can only get one character token . It is uncertain how many each of them need to maxed out . The missions do not recycled to get more officer exp or ship exp . Otherwise this free game for those who like destroying ships with some grind .Do not expect to get officers quicker or level them up quickly, or have any indication if there are more severs that are open to ios . This game can benefit by giving alliances more reward systems or give alliances sectors with mines only for that alliance. Other then speed upgrades and the eventual upgrade to do armadas. Low level alliance members can not participate in armadas which means they can not get rewards from it besides reducing the waiting period on upgrades. The last thing mention the roster of characters do not have the crew tag easily identified without having to click on the avatar to find out if they belong in that crew group..Version: 9.0.1

Pay to WinSo this game has serious issues woth duality. On on hand it is likely the best star trek game made. The content is deep and grows significantly each new arc. On the other as many before have stated it is pay to play. Not a few bucks here and there, a get a 2nd mortgage on your house kind of cost. Big whale players spend 250,000 and more to stay in leaderboards. Medium players spend upwards of 700 to 1000 dollars a month just to try to stay strong enough to defend against whales who litterally go around bullying smaller players and making up thier own rules. There is a free to play option. I have been playing almost 4 years and im a mid tier player. Free to play players and 17 levels below me and whales are 13 levels higher than me. My expenses to stay relavant have been consistently 700 per month and in pvp i lose more than i win. The time it takes to grow is rediculous and the cost in game items takes a month or more to just get one lvl higher is your spending. If your not it can take 4 months to get up a level by mid level 30s. Play at your own risk. This game is fun but this game does everything possible to get you to spend. My advice, dont bother. There are other games on computer online with just as much content that is not geared to grab money from the filthy rich..Version: M52.1.0

I play because friends are here..if they weren’t....In the tips portion of the ad they didn’t mention the terrible rate of refinement to get said Rare materials or even just the Uncommon. Whales always have and advantage but it’s an overwhelming one in this game, Like grossly. If you don’t spend you won’t really have much of a chance. Scopely also has different rates of these packages resources in the bundles based on age of the server, so choose wisely. The older the server the better your deals will be. Lastly, instead of fixing old issues and improving actual game play they just role out new officers and 1 trick pony ships to lure more whale spending. Just fix some simple things please. Like wording on crew that doesn’t reflect (Djaoki for example)what it actually does...the character skins.. my fed officer in the faction store is from the Blue man group! Klingon crews with no faces...If they actually cared and or catered to the majority of players and gave the majority a chance to take on whales and their alliances, it would drive those who do spend more to continue to do so at a higher rate just to hold the leading edge. This game has potential.. but needs devs that care. It will make money even if you are more generous with your rewards and how people can improve their ships to make it a more fun experience, I promise..Version: M25.1.1

Wish I could give it 5*The concept behind the game is fantastic...but there is a very long way to go before it is 5* worthy. The PvP scale is WAY off. That needs to be addressed. Why is there no kind of alliance battle log? There are battle reports per individual, but leadership cannot see what is happening with our members. Why is there no way to check member activity? We have strict standards of activity, but the only way of knowing, is physically seeing a ship in motion, or seeing them in chat. Dead mining nodes are a huge problem. Lack of nodes for the amount of players are another. The uncommon material drops are preposterous for the amount that is required for upgrades and research. Who ever came up with that algorithm should be fired, and someone with half a brain put in their place. I’m at a complete standstill in building and ship upgrades because of this stupid wait time between refining materials, and the insane drop rate of uncommon. Now moving on to the ‘store’. May as well call it the black market. $100, just to be able to get ahead...Seriously ? This game is geared toward those that can afford to drop serious money to make any headway. And is in NO way friendly to those of us that have to work for what we get. Needless to say, there are numerous issues to address before your fan base drops, and business is lost..Version: 2.1

Attempting to help alliance memberAn alliance member has requested help and I’ve been trying to help em for the passed 15 minutes or so. It keeps making like I’ve accepted the request for help but then remains there as though I didn’t help. Only problem with this game I have thus far. I do have one question though, how do you travel between different places you discovered and actually explore those places without quests? Or can you only explore those places if you currently have a quest in that area? Like I have a ‘new Sligo’ and I’m trying to explore the area around it, for instance. Just out of curiosity. UPDATE: I have an alliance gift t I’ve been trying to claim for about a day and a half, it’s not allowing me to claim it. Thank you for fixing the thing to help alliance members. And I figured out what the ‘new sligo’ was.. that’s the area I’m currently building in I think. Took me a bit to figure out, but I got it. My grandma and her siblings are HUGE Trekkies.. they’re huge fans of Star Trek. I’m not saying I’m not, but as for the game, it’s one of my first games of the series and I didn’t follow it as much as they did. 😅 I’m having a lot of fun though!.Version: M43.0.1

Slow Game Play But Very FunThe game is extremely fun to play and addictive in the beginning it’s easy to upgrade and you can pretty much gain all the resources necessary endgame to upgrade but it is a grind my recommendation would be to join a very good alliance from the beginning that supports you teaches you about the inns and outs of the game and even help you gain resources and protect you against bullies in the game because let me tell you this game has lots of bullies in it that constantly attack weaker players one of the things I would add in this gameWould be Easter egg like prizes that would be random of course but would encourage players to stay in and play to try to get these where the prices would be extraordinary allowing them to advance things like 100 hours of speed ups or combination of speed ups big swaths of resources instead of little tiny ones that feed you with a bird dropper people want to advance that is in our nature and if it takes them five weeks just to try to get it shipped to compete less people are going to stay in the game and play but all in all I give it five stars because it is a lot of fun and the possibilities are pretty much endless.Version: 7.6.1

The bullies win every timeThis started out as a great game. I enjoyed the game play and the alliance I was in. They introduce new game lines regularly and keep it fresh. But the problem is, Scopely’s business plan is “reward the big spenders” and they give them huge ships that are impossible to compete with. The “Free To Play” players advance very slowly, and we end up as cannon fodder for the huge players who dump, literally, thousands of dollars into building massive ships. Early in your gameplay, Lower levels are limited to attacking players just a few levels lower than themselves. But when you spend the cash and shoot up to higher levels, you are free to bully all the lower level players without restraint. And if you read every other review in this app store that complains about the way bullies are allowed to wreck havock on lower level players, you will see the developers give lip service to “our feedback” but they have no intention of putting any restraint on their cash cows. Bottom line: if you’ve just won the lottery, enjoy this game. But, iIf you plan on going the free to play route, this will remind you of Jr High School Gym Class. The bullys dominate and the coaches are not interested in stepping in..Version: M54.0

One major flaw. Game breakingIf youre reading this is bc youre considering the game. The game is super fun. Lots of grinding. Its fun. Ive been hooked since Xmas and ive not used my xbox since because this game has me dominated. So here’s what the main game breaking issue lies. All the way to lvl 15 you can attack people in your range , im at 14 and can kill from lvl11-17; thing is the station becomes pvp able at lvl15, and WHOEVER at WHATEVER lvl can come and destroy everything you have making you literally unplayable. I have beared witness people with ships at 275k power being able to crack open bases from lvl15 and take all. There is no cap. And WORSE ALL, you can buy packs to help improve which i have no issue with. Problem is i can spend $20 on a pack of resources than will be stolen a minute later. That part of the system is broken. It allows people to bleed money they cannot use in game bc of timings. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed otherwise you cannot enjoy this game. If you are a player that spends cash( again, zero issues here with that) the possibilities of losing it all before you can use it its there. Regarless of game shields you cannot stay 24/7 guarding your cash.Version: 1.7.4

I usually hate this type of game.I’m not exactly sure what to call them; mobile war games? I’ve always had a pretty low opinion of these mobile “strategy” games so I’m not exactly sure what it was that compelled me to try this out. Probably it being associated with Star Trek and the grand space theme is what did it, but that’s irrelevant. This game is truly special amongst the sea of garbage out there. You’re not just upgrading buildings and waiting, you’re making meaningful choices. I’ve found myself immersed in this thing for hours before realizing how much time has passed. There is so much to do, so many missions, and so much to explore. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how incredibly deep this game is mechanically and it’s apparent that it’ll take quite a bit of time to learn the bulk of it. Lucky for us, there is a trove of information and plenty of resources out there to help you learn. I dunno, man. This game is actually really cool. I don’t like games where I’m personally not doing anything other than tapping “upgrade” or “buy” and it’s a game of who spent the most money..Version: M65.0.1

Engrossing but a lot of waitingThere's so much to do in this game & in a way it's really beautifully designed. the missions are fun, the music is really appropriate and atmospheric, and the progression is very satisfying. The part that I don't like is similar to "Star Trek Online" by cryptic studios & many other science-fiction spaceship games... for some bizarre reason, game designers think that we want to sit around watching ships war between locations or fly around for 30 seconds or four minutes while there's essentially nothing we can do in game besides watch. That is incredibly boring & bad game design. while it's not a problem unique to this game, it's a big problem & an opportunity... if they were to provide other things you could do in game on the ship on the station to fill all of that waiting time, it would add to the story and feel the game significantly. It would also stop me from putting the app in the background on my phone to read the news, look at TikTok, write an irritated review on the App Store, or play a different different game while I'm waiting 3 to 4 minutes for my ship to get somewhere in game..Version: M63

Good game long grindSTFC is the one single game that I have played for the longest time. I stay playing mainly for the moderately fair play and the great alliance that I am part of. The economic system around the game is, the best word I can use to describe it, fair. It respects the grind time that players put in by placing a high monetary cost to packs that give the same rewards and resources. Having said that, it is not easy to progress without spending at least some money, for example, battle pass, to keep up with the main crowd. A stable server with stable alliances and being part of a good alliance is important to having fun in this game, regardless of the amount of money you plan to spend. From the strategy perspective, there is enough depth in the game where a relatively weaker ship can beat a more powerful one with the right officer setup, and research and planning do matter. All of this add up to a fun game with lots of depth, lots of good people, and lots of ways to play. One thing of caution though, if you don’t have a couple hours a day to keep up, this game may not be for you..Version: M50.1.0

STFC reviewThis game had the potential to really be a fun play through and a good way to connect with people. Being in an alliance, growing your base and becoming a better player are all things that are achievable through this game. With that being said, there is a complete disconnect between the players and the developers/leaders of this game. So much time and care seems to have been put into creating this game that there obviously is a high level of talent and ingenuity at Scopely. Those traits are not reflected in events and gameplay that affects users directly. Events are sloppily created with sometimes time excessive milestones to hit, server vs server battles are completely mismatched even though scopely has direct data to see where each group is at power wise, and the rewards and price point for goals and purchases are completely one sided in favor of the company. I played this game for about 8 months, became #14 in power rankings (yes I purchased a lot), and spent countless hours trying to make it make sense for me to keep playing. If scopely would have made the user feel more valued I would keep playing, but will never consider playing this game ever again due to these issues..Version: M57.1

LeavingAs I read the reviews, I see that I’m not the only one that feels that the game is so unbalanced that it is pathetic. I have been playing now for three months, reached level 25 and struggling to keep away from the arrogantes that just because they have some power, they hit you even while you are just starting to mine, just because they want RSS. I made the mistake of hitting a guy on a node, and his Cdr. was on me like stink on you know what. So what did I do? They say that if you can’t beat them, join them. Now I am still playing by myself, since no one seams to acknowledge I even exist. I move around, looking for good sites to mine ( non found) but I have managed to grow. Now I think it’s time I leave this and do bigger and better things. BTW, I tried GOW and it’s even worst. Unti the time that you regulate the different areas and not allow the strong ships where the weaker ships are you will not retain players. Recommend you create areas for different strengths and not allow them access to the lower lands. That willl allow the weaker players an opportunity to grow and then challenge those areas..Version: 9.2.0

Fun game, fast moving, lots of expectationSo far the game is very fun, rewarding, simple but understandable control and GUI. A little demanding on newer players to evolve quickly, and although it gives you missions, (in no particular order that help this) you are kind of on your own to make you way. Some in game players can be counterproductive, or bullying and Galaxy chat is a cesspool of small D energy. That’s the same in any game world. I’m looking forward to new ships and abilities, but we’ll see how long I can keep up with the in game progress expectations. So far so good..Version: M58.0.2
