Hevy - Workout Tracker Gym Log Positive Reviews

Super Easy Interface , Great Community. This app was super easy to use, there are workouts that are easy to replace and add when you’re in the gym and you need to use another piece of equipment. The app has a great interface, the timer on their tracks how long you’ve been working out. You also have a community on here although it is small it is still something that is absolutely fantastic to see and it’s great for engagement, even if it is a newer app. Even at the basic level, you’re able to create a couple routines that you can use as someone who is into bodybuilding I usually have a handful of workouts that I have to do and this is such a simple way of tracking for my coach and myself to see. Being able to see the weight tracker, seeing a waste tracker on there as well. I also find that the videos and directions on how to use certain pieces of equipment to be extremely helpful for new users. Also, I do find the app to be useful even if you’re doing at home workouts and only have dumbbells or small equipment or body weight exercise exercises. It does occasionally have sporting activities. You can add in addition to your workout, which I find to be very convenient as an additional tracking system. Again, I really love this app for the duality of having it like a social media platform strictly for working out and the engagement is super positive and motivating as everyone is here for the same thing which is just working out and sharing progress! Love the app I hope it continues to grow.Version: 2.3.2

Absolutely great app, just has 1 little flaw in my eyes. This app is dope. It’s easily functional and it gets the job done even with just the free option. I love that they have a one time purchase option for the advance features (which I haven’t bought yet but will 100%). It’s also very beginner friendly in the sense that they show you the motion of the exercises if you’re not familiar with them. And for the advance people that may be doing some less popular but effective exercises, they give you an option to create your own exercises if they don’t have it available. They do have a great amount of exercises already though. The analytic part of the app is amazing too. They show you how which body parts you’re working out and how much you’re working them out by session or even weekly if you want to, along with a bunch of other cool stats. The only thing that I don’t like is the fact that it’s no volume added to your total volume when doing body weight squats. I understand though, because the way you calculate body squats is different from every other exercise so it might be difficult to achieve mechanically through the app but I’m sure it’s not impossible, especially in today’s world lol. If this helps, it’s estimated that you are moving about 60%-70% of your bodyweight during a body squat. So just do “body weight x 0.65” and then further do the math depending on the sets and reps. If they change this the app is absolutely golden. Hopefully they see this and make the necessary adjustments. Still a 5 star app to me regardless.Version: 2.4.0

Best workout app imaginableWords can’t describe how much I love this app. For several years I used BodySpace religiously and loved it but in 2022 it kept crashing and it was clear they weren’t upkeeping it much anymore. I did some trials with a few other workout tracking apps and decided to stick with this one. I bought the lifetime membership (PLEASE don’t ever remove this option, its value is unbelievable). I track every lift meticulously and always have, and this app makes that effortless and intuitive. The graphs to track different kinds of progress are incredible for my fitness journey. I honestly can’t even think of a suggestion to improve it (and as much as I loved BodySpace, there was quite a few things I felt could be improved but they never did). I’m now working on retroactively adding all my workouts from BodySpace into Hevy (over 800 workouts so this will take a long time) - which made me realize I do have one suggestion! When editing the date when a workout took place, I really wish there was a dropdown to select the year. Right now I have to scroll back until the year I need (I’m adding 2016 workouts right now and that scroll takes quite a while). Huge props to everyone who develops this app. Lifting is a huge part of my life and having something as reliable and perfect as Hevy is an absolute game changer. I look forward to using it for the decades to come..Version: 2.0.14

Best workout tracking app I’ve triedThis is by far my favorite workout tracking app, and I’ve tried quite a few over the past year including the popular Strong app. You can tell that the creators of this app actually work out themselves because they know how important it is to be able to label drop sets, failure sets, supersets, etc, which you can do very easily within the app. It allows me to track everything I need, and when if it’s been a while since I did an exercise I can easily take a look at my history, view graphs of my strength progression over time, and so on. I started out with the free version but have since upgraded to the Lifetime membership because I needed to create more than 5 custom exercises since I do quite a few unusual calisthenics things, but most gym-goers can probably stick with the free version and have everything they need. The social feature - being able to follow other members - is also nice. That said, I wish there was a way to upload short video clips of workout sets so that there would be some somewhat verifiable proof of what people are lifting, rather than just having to blindly accept the weight people enter into the app as being true. But, this isn’t that important. The important thing for me is that this app allows me to easily track every aspect of my workout so that I can see my progression and know where I’m at..Version: 1.27.0

Finally found the right fitness appHandwriting in a workout journal used to be my go to. Something about pen to paper really did it for me. As I got further into my workout journey, I would run into the issue of forgetting a pen or there wasn’t enough room for certain workouts. I had more than four or five sets. I downloaded almost every workout app there is. Most of them had a free trial for three days and to get the pro version of a lot of these, it was either too expensive or just not worth it altogether. The nice part about this app is the free version alone can give you everything you need. If you are like me and are in the gym six days a week working muscle groups twice. The pro version of this app is well worth the small fee for a year. I love that it creates a community of people. I love that I can compete with my friends. I love that feeling when my phone vibrates because I’ve said a personal record. There is not much that I think needs improvement at the moment other than the ability to compare more workouts. A dumbbell curl is a dumbbell curl. The weight should be the same across all gyms. That extremely minor thing is not worth giving this app any lower of a rating than five stars. Extremely well put together. Easy to create your own exercises if they are not already built in. It’s awesome to be able to put in warm up sets, supersets and sets to failure. You would think I work for the company with how much I promote it to my friends and family. Well done. I’m sure there will be updates to this app and I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes because whoever put this together did a killer job..Version: 2.1.5

Best weight training app out thereI was using Gymverse and it was fine to start with but there were a few things that ultimately led me to looking for another app. I downloaded and played around with about 5 weight lifting tracking apps and I was looking specifically for these features: 1. Data sync between iPhone and iPad 2. Ease of use 3. Affordability Hevy checked all the boxes and offers much more than I will probably ever use. It’s great being able to make updates to workouts and track progress while having access on iPhone and iPad. The app is very intuitive with a large amount of pre-made workouts that fit the equipment in my home gym with just a few so far that I’ll be adding in. You don’t have to pay for a plan if you’re not concerned about long term exercise history being available or don’t plan on creating more than 4 workout plans, but I liked the functionality, customization, and data availability provided with Hevy so much that I ended up paying the 1 time lifetime fee of less than $80! Most, if not all of the other apps I considered were charging about $75-$100 for annual subscriptions. No regrets after choosing this app, just wish I had a better idea of what I really wanted from a workout/weight training app before paying for a subscription through Gymverse a few months ago..Version: 2.0.14

Great Logging and Great for BeginnersI’ve been using the Hevy app for a little over a month and I love it. I’ve been logging my workouts, and almost never have any problem finding the workouts already on the app. Being able to see the form in case you don’t know how is nice, and it also has a how to section to further break it down on how to get correct form if you feel your doing something wrong. I personally pay for the pro version month by month which is I believe 2 dollars. This is extremely cheap and it gives me access to a Hevy trainer section that helps to create workouts for you, if you don’t have too much time to put into researching and figuring your own workouts. I’ve personally had my mom, brothers, and friends all download this app and we follow each other and track each other progress. You can compare each other workouts, save others workouts if you would like to make it your own routine and even follow others like social media. I personally recommend this app or to at least give it a try, because if I knew how to make a good video, I’d even advertise this on Tik Tok. I really enjoy using it. There’s a lot more to the app, but I just want you to know that it’s worth the try and if you made it this far into reading, just download it already! You won’t regret it!.Version: 3.0.3

Almost perfect by missing a major oneI have been jumping around using different apps for the last 5 years since I started doing workouts in my late 40’s. As a busy business professional with a family, my goal is to keep myself healthy and hope to live a longer quality life. Hevy has a great simple UI and available at various Apple devices including Apple Watch complications. It is better than other alternatives and definitely a plus. Yet it is not that far ahead. I expect others could easily catch up or even run ahead. As many fitness YouTubers started to emphasize, the key in fitness is about reducing frictions to actually do the workouts. Since I don’t have any impressive figures or stats, the social sharing features are more or less a blah and sometimes a distraction to spending time on workouts or other better things in life. I could see how some people would really enjoy that. So it hasn’t drawn me enough to upgrade to Pro. I found myself usually pay for apps that are lean toward helping me to get the main things done faster, easier and more consistent. What would take me across the line is having Apple shortcuts and api integration. So I could automate with Things3, Streaks, Apple HomeKit, and NFC tags and increase my chances of actually do the workout and use the app. I’m looking forward to become a paid customer when these integration becomes available..Version: 1.30.12

Enough to be greatI came from using Fitbod for 3 years. Hevy offers everything I needed that Fitbod wouldn’t fix. Hevy has enough to be great, track everything, and be part of a community. Or choose to just make and log workouts. You can do as much or as little as you want. Tracking the muscles, reps, and sets that you do of each muscle is another layer of the onion to peel back in working out efficiently. Making your own exercise is an option if there is not a choice already. I have heard they are very responsive in upgrading and updating their app. Though I haven’t experienced this yet I would say the app is up to date on all the things I really needed to better my workout experience. Therefore they must be keeping up to date. Overall, the choice to pick a fitness app is hard enough. I was in between 3 others and also just going back to forbid. What Hevy had that everyone else did not was an easy to use routine building section. It wasn’t to hard to understand or too flashy. It provides the correct amount of detail for my brain to comprehend it. At the end of the day I recommend it but if you’re having trouble picking one and you’ve made it to this part of my review I recommend just ennieing meenieing minning and moeing and picking a tiger by the toe, because you’re probably desperate...Version: 2.0.16

Kept Me AccountableI have been using this app since January. I saw people on Reddit saying it was good and they had a promotion for like half off a year subscription. So I took the plunge. I love it. It’s the thing that had kept me in the gym this year because it helps me see results. I love how it syncs with my watch and I can input the weight and reps on my watch or phone. I appreciate that it supplies workouts for different splits so I don’t need to pay for a trainer. I love how it holds the last rep and weight from the previous time I did the exercise so I can work towards improving weight or reps. I love how it tracks my workouts and all the data it supplies. I am obsessed that it will track your rest time when you complete a set and play a tone to tell you rest is over. It will also play this tone over the music or as a buzz on your Apple Watch to do another set. (There are times it doesn’t work but mostly it does). It also provide nice visual tutorials of doing the exercise with some copy as well. I do wish it walked me though how to measure myself better but that’s a VERY small negative to truly nothing but positives I have. I also don’t use the social piece too much but I have taken some other people’s workouts just to switch it up every once and a while. I will be renewing next year 100%.Version: 2.0.1

Best Workout App/Logger/Tracker PossibleNever written an app review before. But Hevy prompted me to after my 50th workout and I can’t say no. It’s literally the greatest workout app possible. So simple to use, but also so detailed. You can easily create workouts based on whatever program you’re currently following. Before the app I was just copying and pasting workout logs into Apple notes and using my Apple Watch timer to map out rest time, while looking back into past notes to see what weight/sets I did previously-like a caveman. The app integrates rest time between sets perfectly. Subtle alarm when rest is done. Huge catalog of exercises to choose from. And breaks them down by machine, free weight, body weight, etc. And even if they don’t have the certain machine you’re using, you just just create it for your program and it all syncs perfectly. Layout is awesome as it allows you to see what weight you did previously on that exercise and how many reps. It’s literally perfect. And the cost is so low. It’s one of the easiest purchasing decisions I have, the convenience, benefits, and functionality of it all. It’s one of those apps/things where you don’t work for them, but when you tell someone about how awesome it is it sounds like you do. Great job Hevy. It’s a 10/10 app..Version: 3.0.14

The primary gym buddy + bonus actual gym buddiesI thought I already wrote a review - and maybe I did - but figured I'd pop over here in case I haven't. I previously used Strong (which was convenient because you can transfer data from Strong to Hevy) but switched over to Hevy when a friend recommended it to me about two years ago. This app is so easy to use, and I Iove how I can track various metrics on here. The design is minimalist, sleek, and I never encounter any insufferable bugs (which is pretty rare for fitness apps!). I purchased the lifetime pro when I first downloaded it because I knew right away I'd be using it forever. By far, the best part of the app is the social feature - it's fun seeing what my friends are up to and maybe telling them to lift heavier, lol. The desktop browser is wicked sleek, too, and I like using it to build my routines as I find I'm faster on computer rather than phone. I recently started playing around with Hevy Coach to write programs for my friends (i.e. my "clients"), and so far I'm really enjoying it. It's also been really fun to watch the app grow over the past couple of years. I'm still waiting for the "work out together" feature 😉 But overall - 5/5 stars. You literally will never need another fitness app ever again..Version: 1.30.21

Easy to use, but could use quality of lifeThis is the best free app I have come across for working out. It offers a variety of options and you are able to create your own workouts. Its nice to be able to see what friends are doing as well as be able to take suggestions from their workouts. It does offer upgrades in app in case you want to track things such as measurements (chest, bicep, etc) or if you want to create full 8 week programs for yourself/others. BUT they are not necessary! You can visit other profiles in order to get new workouts or full programs. They also allow you to use a general search in order to find exercises easily. This is a GREAT feature as its easy to look up things I have never tried and also see a video on how to do that exercise. The only criticism I have is their mileage mechanic. For walking/running/etc, you put in how many miles you went and how long it took you to go that far. I typically do not track this, as i am on a treadmill. I watch my speed and how long i am on that speed. Not only that but if i wanted to do timed sprints on like 11.7 mph, I now have to calculate of far i went after my timed sprint finished. I wish i could input my time and speed and/or distance. Overall, extremely helpful and convenient. Only inconvenient when doing certain cardio exercises..Version: 1.29.22

Great App- 4 stars bc of preferenceThis is a fantastic app! Hands down! I like tracking workouts and seeing my improvements. Only gave it 4 stars because I’d like to see courses/classes added. I was using Ladder and I like how the coaches trained by form and technique, teaching how to know when to go up or down weight and where to focus your attention from breath to joints to certain muscle groups to prevent injury. My ladder coach is gone now so I decided to try something different for a change. I took what I’ve learned and I’ve applied it my workouts but personally I like to hear my coach motivating me tea hi g me when to push and when to slow down. HOWEVER! Now that I’m working out with hubs, he’s helping me with form and motivation so tracking with Hevy has been incredible! We both track and follow each other and share new routines, etc. we look at each other’s previous workouts and help each other get 1% better by increasing weight or adding a rep, etc. For how I’m using it, I want to give it 5 stars, and I may still come back and re-review. But for now, 4-stars bc while it shows how to do a workout, I’d like to see routines focused on certain muscle groups, and more information about form. ALSO- I researched routines for certain muscle groups like booty gains, etc, and created my own routine, but it took more time than I’d like..Version: 2.4.0

Great, minor import bugsEdit: I ended up purchasing, so clearly a fan. You’re able to effectively disable the entire social side of the app. That won me over. The only thing that isn’t perfect is that I haven’t found a way to add sets from the watch app. Minor inconvenience. Rating 5 stars because it’s clearly well-made and it gets the job done in a really neat UI. I’m going to use it a few months longer before locking myself in, but I see myself buying the lifetime upgrade in a few months. Good: -Apple watch synching is much more seamless when compared to Strong. -Visuals available in the free version -Great muscle group visualization in the app to remind you what muscle groups you have not worked in the last week. -Tweaks in the UI makes it slightly after to work with compared to Strong. Less good: -I don’t love that the default tab is the social media side. I’d prefer it to be history or a measurement panel to remind me to tweak those occasionally. -This exists in Strong and Hevy, but it would be great to be able to navigate around the routine while the rest timer is still active. In both watch apps you have to cancel the timer or use the phone app. Minor quality of life inconvenience. -Exported data from Strong and found a couple bugs: [1] If you exported data in one unit (kg) and import it in the other, the app doesn’t know. Maybe a user dialogue to verify that the exported unit is the same would be helpful. I haven’t checked yet if there’s a deeper problem on specific items and whether Strong exported everything in one unit. [2] I change time zones frequently and found that there was a one-day offset on many workouts due to that. I’m not certain that’s the cause yet, it could also have been the leap year day..Version: 1.32.7

The Best Workout Tracker AvailableI’ve been using Hevy for almost two years. I can not express my satisfaction and gratitude for such a robust, customizable, and intuitive app on the market. The owners and developers nailed this one. I have utilized the data and metrics to continuously monitor, track, and progress my workouts. And the results show. My fitness journey started in April of 2023, losing over 120 lbs, going from 47% BF to under 13%. I have visible abs for the first time in my life and Hevy has been there almost every step of the way. It helps me analyze the data and results of each workout and identify what needs to change. Continued progression is key and this tracker will give you everything you need to keep up with your fitness goals. I especially like the ability to update my exercises in realtime during the workouts. This is important if I start to feel uncomfortable pains or aches mid workout. It suggests alternatives so I can pick something less strenuous, but still achieve the same goal. The weekly reports with visuals are also very motivating. Seeing what I’ve achieved every week keeps me in tune to why I’m on this path in the first place. Thank Hevy, keep doing your thing so we can keep doing ours!.Version: 2.5.6

Pretty handy, uncomplicated, easy to use.Love this app. It’s got a pretty sufficient amount of features, and is really intuitive. It’s definitely worth the $3 a month for the premium version. That lets you create your own workout plans, add more of your own exercises. Their own library of workouts and exercises is… not the most expansive, but also not horrible at all. It’s really easy to shift things around (like add a set, reorder exercises). The RPE tracker is helpful, especially in combo with the exercises history. Seeing progress and what deload week was, etc. And I am a sucker for the little chimes and medals when I break a PR. It’s encouraging in other cute (but not sickly sweet) ways, too, like saying “you lifted as much as a T-Rex/yacht/helicopter!” The rest timer takes the guesswork out cuz sometimes the pump just wipes allll the brain out. You can change that notification so it’s not the Grindr message tone, just have to dig for it. Wish it took each exercises added-that-workout notes and auto-added them to the general notes it shows you when looking at a glance at past workouts. Also wish it took the notes set in the workout and replicated them (like form notes for squats would show up on each workout squats are on). And it’d be nice if the notes were at all copyable, as I tried putting links to TikToks of form cues in the exercise notes, but can’t copy the url to paste it for a quick reference. A link feature could be helpful, but even being able to copy paste would be enough. But overall, it’s great! I downloaded and quickly deleted 4 other workout tracking apps before this one. Grateful my friend suggested this one, so I’m gonna suggest it to you, too!.Version: 2.2.1

Simple, Useful, PerfectI can’t remember the last time I wrote a review for an app. But wow. I’m sure there are similar apps that do similar things, but I took a chance on Hevy after seeing a few people recommend it on Reddit. I’m so glad I did. I workout in my home gym so I have a unique collection of equipment, and my favorite feature is being able to add custom exercises. I didn’t even know this was a feature until I stumbled upon it in the app. Before that I was just going to settle for adding the next best closest thing to my routine from the provided options (which are A LOT), but now all of my routines (Push day, Pull day, etc) are filled with a combination of custom and app-provided moves. It’s awesome. Being able to control everything from my Apple Watch (including adjusting weight and reps) is just icing on the cake. I haven’t felt the need to pay for a subscription yet because the free features are very generous, but honestly if I hit a paywall I won’t think twice about paying. Truly excellent app. I’m basically a beginner again getting back into lifting after years off, and this is the single best piece of tech/software I’ve found for my personal journey. Thank you devs!!.Version: 3.0.11

Changing the way I work outThis app is everything I was missing in my fitness regiment. As someone who benefits a lot from keeping track of progress, but who can’t keep a journal for the life of me, this app has been a game changer. I can easily track every single detail of my workout : exercises, sets, reps. I start my workout and it keeps track of the time (and rest time if I want) for me! It even syncs to my Apple Watch to display and record data like my heart rate and my calories burned. I can upload pictures of my pumps, and record notes from each session. It also creates statistical graphs for me AND shows me how much work each muscle group has gotten over a workout or period of time. It’s so easy to use, and I LOVE watching myself make steady progress that I can actually quantify. Especially as I’m moving into a cut and want to see how my strength and physique are fluctuating. I mean, I couldn’t have asked for a better app. It’s everything. And this is all the free version. If you want to do things right, you’re doing yourself an honest disservice not downloading this app. I don’t even write reviews for apps, but I had to say something about this one. That’s how much I love it..Version: 2.1.5

Make working out easyThis app has made working out at home more engaging and more approachable with super easy workout routine creation, and tracking gains between workouts. The cute little GIFs for each exercise are actually pretty nice for some new ones to remind you of form. Easy to track personal metrics as well. I have a number of friends that pay hundreds of dollars a month to online personal trainers to create routines for them in similar type apps (I’m not sure if that is done too HEVY as well) but I feel like I have been able to easily create workout routines in a couple of minutes (after some research with ChatGPT or other online content). I love being able to check through each set on the lock screen of my iPhone as well. Being able to re-order the routine or make super sets is also super nice. Also, when you’re on the road or changing up equipment, there are a ton of different cable and free weight or body weight exercises that you can create a routine with which has been super nice for traveling and trying to create something for a hotel gym on the fly. Great app, super happy to have this, have the pro level. Thank you HEVY developers!!!.Version: 3.0.13

Really helpful illustrations/animationsI had a solid foundation in weightlifting as a teen but got away from practicing it as I got older. My focus with returning to weightlifting is on building functional strength to avoid injuries as I age, not body building or competition. Coming back to lifting as an adult with moderate gym anxiety, the Hevy app has helped me track progress on my weights and allowed me to make intelligent choices about increasing the amount I’m lifting over time. The feature I really appreciate are the illustrations and animations that help me confirm how I am supposed to do certain movements to make it look like I know what I’m doing even when I am trying new techniques for the first time or revisiting for the first time in many years. Having proper form helps reduce my anxiety that I will look silly at the gym. I also like the percentage summaries of the muscle groups that make up each work out so I can have a clear picture of which areas I tend to avoid and should be intentional about training. As a free app, I don’t think there’s a competitor that comes close to the features available without paying. Highly recommend for a health-focused novice-intermediate weight lifter..Version: 1.30.1

Get itFree version is great and completely functional, I paid for it and regret nothing. Its got about every exercise I can think of and I’d a great resource for the seasoned weight lifter or the new guy coming in. I’ve been out of the gym for about 12 years and just started going back and having a set plan of what I’m going to do keeps me focused and moving. If you’ve done an exercise previously it’ll show you how many you did so you can easily see improvement and help you remember what weights you used. It has a map of your body to quickly show you which muscles you’ve hit in a week and some positive stats to put perspective on how much you lifted. It also easily allows you to search for exercises by muscle groups for building routines, and you can easily set up a new routine if you’re too sore to do what you had planned. The only con I’ve noticed so far is that it doesn’t seem to track calories burned during cardio and heavily favors weight lifting, and as someone trying to lose weight and build muscle it would be nice to track that expenditure more than time or distance. But, that could also be something I haven’t discovered in the app yet..Version: 1.30.18

Excellent Workout Log and TrackerThis app has been exactly what I’m looking for. I have tried 5 different workout logging apps and none have them have fit the convenience and versatility that this app provides. Logging workouts is quick and easy especially if you add a routine, it will track your progress and let you know how much you lifted on your most recent attempt at that specific exercise. There is a huge library of exercises, more than I have seen from and other app. Many different variations wether your looking for dumbbells, barbells, machines, cables etc. If your big on tracking your progress, this app provides very easy to read graphs and stats and much more so you know where you stand day in and day out. The layout is smooth and not distracting, I personally enjoy black or dark colored backgrounds and layouts. The app has everything you need and nothing you don’t. Versatile with the ability to add friends and post, comment and “like” workouts, similar to social media but of course this is not necessary and you can simply use the app as a log, if that’s what you prefer. Very pleased with this app and would highly recommend..Version: 1.31.1

Super HelpfulI returned to the gym back in September 2025 super motivated to finally start focusing on my health. Initially my main goal was to lose weight, but quickly changed to gaining strength. I didn’t really know where to start, I was comfortable with most of the machine weights, but free weights and cable machines seemed so intimidating. I wanted to make sure I was doing the workout correctly and not risk hurting myself. I started looking for apps, and I came across Hevy, it was a game changer. I was so excited that I could create a planned workout, with the equipment my gym has, and it shows you exactly how to do the workout. It gave me confidence to step into the weight area. I look at the examples and feel mostly confident I was doing the workout correctly. Since using Hevy, I have progressed farther than I ever thought I could. I have consistently been lifting heavier, and meeting new PRs every week, since it’s so easy to track my entire workout. I am getting stronger, it’s so exciting to see. It’s great for any gym goer, experienced or not, but extremely helpful for beginners. This app is 100% worth it. The free option is great to start, but I did buy the subscription..Version: 2.5.7

My most used workout app.I have absolutely no complaints, nothing but a suggestion here to be honest. Super sets are loggable, warm ups, everything. Makes it easy to learn the correct form, with videos and images for a few, but very few to show you the correct form, and even instructions. The app is clean and a nice UI, I love it. I got sick of the only 3 routines though and caved in and bought premium, but it was worth it. A year for less then 30$? not complaining. I now have like 30 different routines I swear. But I change around a lot. Iv messed with tons of different splits. My only suggestion, but i’m in no way complaining. A way to log drop sets; something simple like a way to select one set as a dropset, and maybe in a dropdown off of it add 3 more sets or 2, however many and you can add or remove. I think it would be a little easier to log, but i’m not sure, but some way to log the drop sets or even indicate those sets are dropsets would be absolutely amazing. Anyway, no complaints on this app, iv tried tons of apps and this is by far my favorite. If I could give it more than just 5 stars, I would. Keep it up!.Version: 2.1.7

Best tracking app for weightlifting/exerciseI searched for a while for an app that meets all of my needs in one place. It’s this. You can track every exercise you do, there is a library full of exercises to choose from. The library is awesome, each exercise has what muscle is being worked and how to execute the exercise. The tracking is awesome, when you go to the next week’s exercise, it will show you what you did last so you don’t lose track. Your notes for each exercise carry over too. It tracks your improvement over time, even the new goals you reach, and how much volume lifted for that day. You have a calendar to see what days and when you’ve exercised. There’s a small social media platform built into it to follow other people for inspiration or for them to follow you and make friends to cheer each other on. You can even log other types of exercises. You can track your weight and measurements to see your progress and post pictures as you evolve. Overall, it’s perfect. Don’t change a thing! Thanks to the creators of this for making such a user-friendly, comprehensive, and awesome app!.Version: 2.0.1

Amazing appThis is a pretty good app. It syncs seamlessly with my Apple Watch and accurately counts the calories based on the workouts. It’s easy to get through workouts and reps and keeps you from having to constantly look at your phone to determine which set you are on and how many reps. You check them off as you go. You can have the workout going on your watch and can pick up at anytime from your phone. You can even make adjustments in real time. There are tons of exercises to choose from and I am sure the developers are adding new ones daily. It would be nice to be notified when new exercises are added as options. The only reason for 4 stars is because for cardio exercises do on gym equipment, there isn’t a way to select the resistance. For example you cannot select the level of incline when doing a treadmill workout or the resistance when doing an elliptical or cycling workout. It would be nice to add this as an option. The amount of calories burned is higher when working on these machines at higher resistance over the standard. It would also be good for suggested workouts over time as you progress. Overall, an amazing app. Exactly what I was looking for..Version: 2.2.0

Best app for tracking workouts so farWhen I started working out. I use to not log any of my workouts, then as I was getting frustrated with my progress one of my gym brethren told me I need to be logging all my workouts and trying to get better everyday. That’s when I found… the notes app. It was a grueling process and it became a jumble of numbers and abbreviations that only me and me alone could read. I knew I needed a change, that’s when I found… a bunch of useless apps that made me pay 25$ a month just to put in more than one workout routine. Then finally I found Hevy. After opening the app for the first time I knew I found a winner. I could have up to 3 routines which was perfect for the program I was running. Then I found out that it tracks my progress and my stats for me (which brought me more joy than my pump that day). It had rest timers, barbell calculations, as many reps and sets as you could want, super sets, drop sets, basically everything. The only reason it isn’t a 5 star is because I need to pay 80 dollars for the full version. It would be a 5 star for me if they even brought the price down to $35. Other than the paywall this has been an amazing app..Version: 1.24.8

Great free app, especially if you’re a blind or visually impaired individual!Been using this app for about a month now. Tried many others. None come close to what you get for free with this app. I like that they don’t try to get micro transactions out of you every time you use it. Also, don’t bombard you with ads. But for me being a blind/visually impaired individual the best part is that it works flawlessly on my iOS device with accessibility and talk back. I love that I’ve been able to make changes to my workout schedule/plans without hesitation. All settings, and find details within the app or easy to be found using accessibility features. And the dark theme is extremely amazing as well. I’m going to keep using this app and most likely will upgrade it just because of the hard work these people are doing with this app obviously. My only criticism is that I wish every workout didn’t have to always be for everybody to view and you could just have one setting to set it for private all the time. If it exists, I have yet to find out how to set it that way. But great app overall..Version: 2.4.9

Progressive Overload TrackerI’m incredibly impressed with Hevy. This app helped me elevate my lifts to the next level. After two years of consistently lifting, I started to see plateaus in my strength and hypertrophy - and the main culprit was a lack of consistent progressive overload. I’ve tried Excel spreadsheets and notebooks to track my workouts, but neither solution compared to the ease of use that Hevy offers. Now I can track my workouts consistently and update/create routines for my PPL splits (and variations of them). My favorite features are the “medal system” that lets me know when new goals are hit and the massive database of exercises to program into my routines. I also appreciate the statistical insights to my weekly volume/reps. This helped me recognize the disparity in volume between my push and pull muscle groups, and I’ve experienced and all-around improvement in my progress after just one month of using Hevy. If you’re like me, you probably have been tracking your calories and macros for a while now (with MacroFactor). Now tracking your workouts just as dutifully has never been so easy. Thank you, Hevy!!.Version: 1.28.10

Simple to use and track workoutsI managed to log 25 weightlifting workouts using this app in a gym, and currently do a push, pull, legs split. I was able to find 90% of the exercises and machines in the menu to build workout templates and track my progress. I was also able to substitute exercises and machines that were close enough to what I was doing for the remaining 10%. It’s very easy to add or remove an exercise or machine to your workout template if you want to try something new. The workout templates save the changes if you add an exercise or machine for the next time. The app also shows the previous sets and reps when you start a new workout, making it very easy to progressively overload. It also shows the days you worked out in a month so you can keep track of your total workouts. The only negative is that the app does not provide an overview of all your workouts in a given period. As such, it takes a little efforts to figure out if you completed a training block so you can deload. I get around this by maintaining a journal at home so I know when to deload..Version: 1.30.27

All the features w/ ease of use!I’ve tried all the workout apps, and this one by far has had the best support, with the most features, but is still simple to use. The Apple Watch integration updates simultaneously between the app and your watch in real time. Which makes it so much easier to record reps and sets. I didn’t think I would use the Apple Watch feature much but now I can’t imagine not using it. Using, or setting up your own, routines is so simple compared to other apps I’ve used. You can do it on your device, or on a desktop PC. I’ve done both and it’s equally as effective and easy. It does communicate and record to Apple Health and Fitness app, as long as you give it permission. This is where I have my only constructive feedback. If you pause your workout in the Hevy app (which is useful and frequently necessary) Apple’s Health app still thinks you’re working out and records workout minutes until you completely end your workout. Fix that and it’s the perfect app! (of course that could be an Apple ecosystem issue and have nothing to do with Hevy).Version: 1.32.2

Pro Version is Nearly PerfectThis app really motivates me to keep up with my progression. It’s easy, intuitive, and has almost any feature you could possibly want if you pay for the pro version. I personally like the ability to track RPE. I also like that it shows you your volume from the previous week when you start your workout, making it easy to adjust numbers for the current week. The free version was fine as well, but I have been using this app for months and it was clear the investment for extra features was worth it. They have a feedback feature in the app—I’ve used it a couple times and always got a response, even when the “feedback” I gave ended up being that I just didn’t realize how to use something. I don’t really care for the social media aspect. The only way I would maybe use it in the future is if there was a way to “compete” with a friend, similar to modern smartwatch interfaces. But I could take or leave that whole portion of the app. However, it doesn’t detract from my experience so I still rate the app 5 stars..Version: 1.29.1

Incredible free appThe free version of this app is incredibly functional. It’s helped me start a new workout habit after years of nothing. It lets me track progress and make my own workouts and even routines with ease. I haven’t bought the full app yet, so I don’t know what’s behind the paywall yet. I compared against the other leader Strong and ended up with Hevy because it just seems a little nicer and easier with more features in the free version. I used to use FitBod and have really been happy with the transition to Hevy. One feature request I have (in my own journey to become a well rounded athlete) is to add more data fields in cardio workouts, where the app currently is limited to just distance and time. For example on cycling, I’d like to be able to track calories, power output, speed, heart rate, cadence and even resistance for an indoor bike. Similar capabilities would be useful for rowing, running, swimming, etc. If the developers would be able to put some thought into tracking those sorts of workouts as well I think it would push this app over the top..Version: 2.4.3

Great workout appBefore this, my go-to was tracking my workouts on paper. I had tried a free workout tracking apps, but most require a monthly subscription after you use them enough. At the time of this writing, it was $80 one time for unlocking premium forever, which in turn will give me access to my workout history and metrics as long as the app exists. I do a lot of progressive overload weight training, Dance Dance Revolution, and East and West Coast Swing Dance/Lindy Hop. This app allows for the creation of custom exercises, so I’m able to track all of that. It’s also got Apple Watch integration as well as Apple fitness integration, which I’ve become addicted to. I kick myself when I forget to put my watch on when I go to the gym because the Apple Watch integration makes it incredibly easy to go through my custom workouts. The app is free with no ads, and what you get really feels kinda like Discord Nitro did in the early days (you get premium to support the developers, not because you get a lot of stuff from the app). I would have paid $200 or $300 one time for what I get out of HEVY..Version: 1.30.29

Don’t waste your money on a yearly subscriptionI originally purchased the yearly subscription just to make sure I liked the app as I had fallen off my fitness journey while I was busy with school. I was hoping to save a few pennies and not purchase something to motivate me that ultimately was a waste. Well after finally getting back into the swing of things, it didn’t take long for me to realize I had wasted some of my money and should have just paid the flat price for the app. It’s an amazing app and I’m still finding out all the stuff it can do for me. I wish I had this app when I did bodybuilding a few years ago instead of my pen and paper. I can see what muscle groups I’m lacking in volume and being able to create my routines to save them for future reference without losing paper is my favorite. I don’t have to remember what weight I should start at for my next visit as I can see my history for every movement. It’s truly an incredible app so don’t waste your money on the monthly or yearly subscription, just buy the whole thing..Version: 2.0.7

Amazing App!!!My husband and I have been into health and fitness for years now and I have never found an app anything like Hevy! It is incredible! It is so hard to keep all of your exercises, sets, reps-etc all together but Hevy does that for you! They have almost any exercise you can think of and you can add personal notes for yourself! I love that it helps you see your progress as you move up in weight. It can time you as well so you aren’t waisting time in the gym. Aside from everything I just listed I would have to say my absolute favorite thing is the statistics it gives me. It will show me all of the muscle groups I worked during my workout, my time for my workout, my heart rate, and it will tell me what groups of muscles over the whole week that I’ve worked. They have so many graphs and bars to measure your progress, it blows me away! All of this also connects to your Apple Watch! I could not recommend this app enough! There are so many details I didn’t mention but you’ll have to try it for yourself!.Version: 2.4.3

Outstanding Workout TrackerAfter using Hevy for 25 workouts, I can confidently say it’s the best workout app I’ve ever tried! The interface is incredibly user-friendly, making it easy to create, customize, and adjust workouts to fit my schedule. I love how much control I have over every detail, from exercise selection to rest periods, which lets me tailor each session exactly the way I want. The app even lets you move, replace, delete exercises, sets, and rest time during the workout. Integration with Apple Watch is instant and seamless, which was a big selling point for me. The metrics are awesome! Improvements I would love to see: 1. As the rest timer is displayed on Apple Watch, the ability to click back and look at the remaining exercises in the workout. 2. On the iPhone app, the ability to view a condensed list of workout history right now, the only option seems to be a snippet of previous workouts with the first three exercises listed. Those things aside, it’s an amazing app and I will continue to subscribe!.Version: 2.0.18

Awesome tracking app! This id a phenomenal workout tracker. There are, of course, features and changes I would like to see but development is very active so I’m sure I will see them added eventually. Overall, it offers most features I would like. If I were to ask for one feature, it would be the ability to program progressive overload automatically. Otherwise it does what I need! The most unexpected feature that makes this app phenomenal is the social component. That was definitely not something I was looking for, but it has turned out to be my favorite part. You can follow people and post your workouts. The people that use the social component are some of the most supportive people I have ever interacted with. I have never seen one negative comment which is refreshing give the state of fitness content on other apps. I am legitimately making friends through the app, which is not something I knew I wanted. Don’t underestimate the social component of this app! The community truly sets it apart from other options..Version: 1.30.26

The best workout appI have been using Hevy for a few months now and I am very impressed with how it helps me plan, track, and improve my workouts. Hevy is a simple and intuitive app that lets me create custom routines, log my sets and reps, and view my progress over time. Hevy also syncs with my Apple Watch and Health app, so I can monitor my heart rate, calories, and other metrics during and after my workouts. One of the best features of Hevy is the social aspect. I can follow other users, see their workouts, and give them feedback and encouragement. I can also join challenges, compete with others, and earn badges and trophies. Hevy keeps me motivated and accountable, and makes working out more fun and rewarding. Hevy is not just an app, it is a community of fitness enthusiasts who support each other and share their goals and achievements. Hevy is the best app for anyone who wants to take their fitness to the next level. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a smart and easy way to track their workouts and stay motivated..Version: 1.30.31

So far… It Does What I Need It To DoHEVY said I’m 25 workouts in and a review would be appreciated, so here I am. I was an old school pen and paper person because the phone was distracting, but now with these “do not disturb” options, an app to workout is the way to go. I like that I can see a chart that shows your progress from your past workouts. It also saves the last weight amount you’ve done on the previous exercise, like if I benched 100lbs for 10 reps a few days ago, I know I can aim for 11 the next session. You can add notes as well. Once you get your routine locked in, after about a week or 2, it’s pretty memorized anyhow. Then I stick with it for 2 months or so. The free version gives 4 workout plans, I think that’s great to get people trying the app and interested in its features. What the app can’t do is the actual fitness journey for you, so you need to stay consistent, if you do, then the premium version looks appealing. We’ll see how the app goes as I continue to use it and update the review accordingly..Version: 1.30.6

Great for beginners!I love using Hevy! As a beginner in the gym, Hevy has been a big help in not only tracking my progress, but learning about machines and technique. You can search for the exercise you want to do and it will also give you information on how to do it and has a little gif of a person performing it and showing what muscles it works. Being able to check how to do something when I’m in the middle of a workout without having to search online has made me more confident using different machines at the gym. My favorite part of the app is actually that at the end of your workout, the app gives you a little slideshow of the main muscles you hit, your highest weights and personal records broken, and (the best part) says whether you lifted the total weight equivalent to things like a truck, helicopter, or elephant! It’s fun to unlock a new big item you lifted the equivalent of and it makes me feel accomplished, which gives me encouragement to keep going to the gym. Cannot recommend enough!.Version: 2.4.2

Love the app! This is my first time really taking the gym serious. I liked this app because it gave me ideas of workout routines depending on what I was trying to accomplish and the tracking of it is phenomenal! I never have to forget the weights I’ve done previously or the reps! It has a social aspect to it but I don’t use that. Only improvement I see there to be is to just have more routines available to pick from or to be able to search for them. As of now, you can pick one from the few they have and tailor it to your liking by adding or removing certain exercises and replacing others. I did buy the paid version to add more than 3 routines, definitely worth the investment if you plan to utilize the app for its benefits. I now have my own dumbbell only workouts, plates only workouts and different workout combinations. I’ve also added in my own exercises that the app didn’t have and have been able to track those too. Overall: get the app if you want to seriously track your progress..Version: 1.29.12

Closest thing to perfect I’ve seenI didn’t think it was too much to ask - a gym tracker that recommended workouts but also allowed you to choose your own and make changes on the fly. Syncs with Google/apple, shows how to do exercises, graphs your progress. You wouldn’t believe how many fitness trackers are out there that DONT do all of that, even for a paid subscription. Hevy does it all - FREE. I paid for the premium version, but I didn’t need to (premium version unlocks more slots for saved routines and expands the length of saved data), but what they wanted for a years subscription some memberships want per month! Extremely cost effective. I’d like to see Hevy expand their exercise database, maybe even take user submissions and animate them. I’d also really like for the exercises in each routine to be “collapsed” unless you’re actively doing said exercise -helps to find it on the page but lets you see your progress through the list. But these are requests, not problems. Overall, very satisfied..Version: 1.29.12

Easy to set up and use!I’ve only used it for a few workouts but so far it’s been fairly easy to set up and track workouts with just the free version. I appreciate the ability to add, replace, and reorder workouts both in the “templates” and during actual workouts, along with the ability to set weights, reps, rep ranges, and even track perceived effort (as an optional field). During a workout it’s also easy to complete a set, adjust the actual weights and reps, and even adjust the breaks between sets on-the-fly. I’m not quite interested in the social sharing parts of the app at this point, but even that is configurable to show or hide features like seeing other users. Perhaps later. :-) Update after entering past workouts and logging consistently to get to 100 workout with Hevy: I upgraded to a paid subscription and still very much enjoy the app. I found the “share” feature to copy a workout log in text form which is great to share the workout. I know there are mixed reactions to anything AI-related but I’ve found the HevyGPT feature useful to quickly set up workouts from my coach, for example. I also use regular ChatGPT to create a prompt that HevyGPT uses to make workouts. The only gotcha with the HevyGPT feature is it doesn’t seem to always map exercises correctly. For example it will use plank as a substitute for warm up. Or it might not recognize something like rear reverse fly. Otherwise, I still really appreciate the app in general and the AI feature are a nice touch have (for some, I know)..Version: 3.0.13

Best Workout App I’ve Tried!Hevy is awesome! I have only used the free version, so my comments are based on that. The app is well structured and organized, making it easy to customize exercises and create your own workouts. The free workout recommendations are fantastic too! I really appreciate the clear explanations—for example, how to log weight (one arm or both arms together, etc.). I can save up to four workout routines to choose from when I go to the gym, then just select one and start training without worrying about remembering what I did the day before. It’s also great to see my previous workouts at a glance and plan how to move forward. My son recommended this app to me, and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s visually attractive and genuinely motivating—I find myself working out more often simply because I love seeing the progress stats and encouragement the app provides (how many workouts per week or month, consistency over time, etc.). Well done—HIGHLY recommend!.Version: 2.5.0

Must have app but have some suggestionsFirst and foremost I love this app. It reminds me when social media was simple. I use it to track my 4 lifting cycles. I paid for the lifetime membership and I recommend that for everyone. Give back to the people who made this so they can improve it. My comments on improving the app are not a ding at it. This app does what it should and I think it’s a fair price. With that being said sometimes I like technology to help me be lazy. I think some improvements that I would like are maybe an auxiliary work out group that I can input into custom routines. I know I can just duplicate a routine and delete the main lifts but I’d like option to have a couple auxiliary lifts saved that I can input quickly with saved data from a prior lift. It’s just more time consuming to go in edit the lift figure out what weight and rep I did. 1st world problems I tell you. Along with auxiliary Id love a warm up spot as well. I normally know what my warm is so it’s not a pain but adding an exercise just for warm up and having to read through all the notes is not for me. Would be nice to have a warm up section and I know you can change reps to warm up reps but I mean stretches, hip circle and band work. I wish I could reorder sets. Some of them I forgot to add a warm up so if I could just add it to the bottom and then drag it to the top of the set that would be great. Instead of changing all my sets around for different phases. Again first world problems I know..Version: 1.27.0

Excellent workout logger with reasonable pricingThis makes my workouts far easier. The Pro option was only a few bucks a month, and it allows me to add as many custom exercises as I want (in the case that Hevy doesn’t have what I’m looking for, which, admittedly, is quite rare), it lets you superset workouts, and keeps up-to-date records on your PRs for each individual exercise. Amazing app! The one “issue” I have is that the way you log barbell exercises is a bit weird. They ask that you log the whole weight, so if you bench 25 plates each side of a barbell, you have to manually type in “95,” which I feel is silly. It would be far more convenient if you could set your bar weight (in case there are different weights) and then just type in how much you put on ONE side, then Hevy can do the math on how much you actually lifted itself. I’m not the computer here, why’ve I gotta do the calculating?! Minor complaint, though. Plus, I don’t really use the social media aspect, so it serves as a fine self-reminder for how much I did last time..Version: 1.28.7

Super Useful and Intuitive!I probably qualify as an intermediate lifter, but I’m trying to up my game. To that end, I wanted to find a way to more reliably track my activities than a spreadsheet I update sporadically. This app has been amazing in doing just that. It’s super intuitive. The workouts are easy to locate and routines are easy to make as you work through the gym. I also love how it shows the weight and reps from the prior time you used the machine — this makes progressive overload so much easier by putting a “goal” right in front of you each time you step up to a machine! For things you do a lot, like bench or squat, or maybe a machine you love like the peck dec, this feature rules. The medals for PR on a lift are a fun way to gamify the app, and I love the Strava integration, so I can get a whopping three kudos from cyclists who have no concept of how amazing my new PRs really are. In all seriousness though, this is a great app that anyone looking to track their progress in the gym should have..Version: 2.0.7

This app is incredibleI decided to pay for the pro version for 2 main reasons: unlimited routines and to help out the team that made this amazing app. That being said, even without paying for the pro version, this is the absolute best app there is for tracking your progress inside the gym. It has the most streamlined system out of any gym tracking apps I’ve tried and completely stumps the competition (especially the notes app). Whether you’re just starting out your fitness journey, or are dedicated daily, this app WILL not only help you track your progress, but will also boost your motivation tenfold simply because of how easy it is to use. Literally the only thing I could suggest to the creators of HEVY would be a way to track how many calories you’ve burnt during your workouts (I’m currently in a calorie surplus and feel like it would help a lot when it comes to tracking my net calories daily) but otherwise this app is beyond perfection..Version: 2.2.7

W Workout trackerW workout tracker, I get to follow my boys workouts, track my own and see shirtless ripped sweaty men….Version: 1.30.23

Great gym tracker!A friend of a friend recommended this app to me and it has been a game changer for my workout routines. I love the style of adding exercises and making routines plus the addition of a rest timer that start automatically after each exercise is done. The examples of how to any exercise is also very helpful for beginners. I would highly recommend this.Version: 2.0.14

Great AppIn my opinion Hevy is the best free workout app; it’s mainly free, has a huge variety of workouts and just great people using the platform..Version: 2.4.8

Comprehensive app for all training typesLet first start by saying I wanted to build my own app. After having seen and used Hevy, I changed my mind. There’s almost nothing I can think that I’d want in an app. It tracks app types of workouts. And to top it off there’s an api and ai connector built in. I can upload full workout routines or download to analyze myself. Great job..Version: 3.0.15

Key workout tool, very helpfulI could never remember what my weights were for different exercises, and I was scared to try new exercises or machines if I didn’t know how they worked. Hevy solves both of those. And the free tier is well done - no ads or nagging, just limit to some functionality, which is fair..Version: 3.0.14
