Basic App Okay; Not Worth a SubscriptionPersonally, the only reason I use this app is to keep in touch with friends for running, so I will definitely be canceling my subscription since keeping in touch is free. I try to support companies because I feel they are providing a service and I believe in that. And when a subscription promises higher features and better support, I feel like doing it. But after a while of being annoyed at a lack of in app features for a subscription, I have to take my money elsewhere. Here is the big reason for the cancel - all the features I want to use I have to log-in to the internet site to optimize. For a paid subscriber I should be able to optimize right in app. Could be my phone version (iPhone 6), but honestly, if that is the reason, I feel even more motivated to cancel. My phone is fully functional with other apps. I basically use my apps on my phone for a lot. And if a company is spending the money on the app development (through subscriptions), some basic things like being able to change shoe brands should be matter of fact (gotta log-in to the site for that). Another dislike - making a route is quite annoying. Again have to log-in for that. Also, the GPS tracking is not accurate (could be my phone). I could go on. These are my personal annoyances. Some people may be okay with having to log-in just to alter shoes or when trying to make a route, but not my cup of tea. I am on the go so I want the in-app functionality. Short of that, not worth the subscription price. I can keep up with friends other ways. Don’t need to pay for it. Lesson learned for me..Version: 181.0.3

Strava is great!!! 🤩 PLEASE READ!!! I SPENT A LONG TIME ON THIS 😂Obviously the best running app with global competition. Love the local legends and top ten segments. It keeps your mileage and hours on running (my sport) biking (my hobby) and tons of other activities from workouts to pickleball. It can also help you keep track of mileage on your shoes or bike which is amazing because it can prevent injuries and give you an idea of when you need to get new gear. Obviously there are some things they can improve like when I want to manually upload a run, it has to be to the nearest .1 of a mile so I can’t set it to for example 2.75 it would have to be 2.70 or 2.80 but with everything good there is a little bad. Can’t really complain much though. Love the clubs and groups you can join makes it really easy for my xc coaches to keep up track of everyone on the team’s mileage. It’s also great motivation to run. 😂 The other thing I like is that it is compatible to my Garmin watch, so I finish my run or bike or other activity and it goes to the Garmin app the automatically goes to strava (so I don’t have to do anything except type the description of my run). It’s also very easy if you don’t want other people to see your profile. You can easily set it to where only your followers can see your profile. This is great if you have a kid on there and you don’t want everyone to see their profile. Overall it is an amazing app for anyone looking to do any type of activities and coaches for xc or biking teams to keep up with everyone’s stuff. Love the app and couldn’t be happier with it, probably wouldn’t be where I am in xc and track without it. 😁 Hope I could help, God bless!.Version: 463.0.1

Good for tracking and sharing workoutsI enjoy using this for tracking the distance, elevation gain, and other numbers linked to my cycling, at least as decent estimates. And KOMs add a fun extra challenge to some rides, though I don’t have too much faith in especially the longer segment timing. I have noticed when friends and I are riding together and we start a segment at the exact same time, but I make it to the end of the road or segment sometimes 30 seconds ahead of them, but they rank higher than me on the segment for that day? But my only real issue with this app beside a few bugs that the Strava team does a good job with patching quickly, is the notifications. I like that they pop up on my phone and alert me when someone has commented, gave kudos, or follow requested. However, when you click on the notification and open the app to display whatever the notification was about, to get rid of the in app notification icon, you have to sometimes go from your notification page, to your feed page, back to your notification page, and then finally back to your feed page. And the notifications stack for specific activities, so if you got 20 kudos since you checked last, only the most recent person pops up as giving you kudos. Not a big deal, but like other social media apps, it can be nice to know which of your friends has given you kudos without having to go into the activity and searching through to see. All around this is a really great app, but the little issues with user friendliness in this regard, keep it from 5 stars for me..Version: 108.0.0

Must Have for Mountain BikersI’m still relatively new to mountain biking. Been riding for 3 years now, but mostly at a beginner level, as I typically don’t ride enough to qualify myself as an intermediate rider. Without fact-checking, I’d say I average 6-8 rides per year, although I recently set a goal to ride at least once every weekend (tomorrow will be 5 in a row). What I do know is that every single person I ride with uses Strava, including some very experienced riders. Some use GPS watches and upload their rides when they get home, and some, like me, use the cell phone app. If you’ve got the latest Apple Watch like me, Strava can be used very conveniently without getting your phone out of your bag/pocket. The app offers a great way to track your mileage, speed, elevation, segments/trails ridden, personal record times, etc. - all with relative accuracy. Over the past few years, they have added hiking and a few other modes of travel, which I think is great (would love to see skiing and snowboarding eventually). The app is a great way to track your own rides, see what friends are doing, see who else is riding trails, and see how fast others are riding, to help set goals and even compete. You can upload ride photos directly into Strava. You can also set it up for several different bikes, if you’ve got more than one, unlike me. There are even challenges and clubs you can join, although I haven’t explored much of that feature. I use Strava, for free, for the very simple function of tracking my rides, and checking out what my friends are riding. The only thing I don’t think Strava provides, which I use Trailforks for, is finding available trails and trail systems in any area..Version: 51.0.0

Good app, but recent updates not so goodI love Strava and use it daily to track my runs, skis, etc. However, the most recent updates to the app have deteriorated the experience significantly. Most notably, the latest update to viewing activities, specifically the navigation is very cumbersome and difficult to use. For example, when viewing an activity, the global navigation doesn’t display, instead there’s an arrow in the top left corner that will take you back, unless you’ve scrolled then it takes you up. If I want to get back to my home feed there’s no quick way to do it, I often have to tap multiple times to exit the activity. This gets worse if I entered the activity through notifications, where sometimes I have to tap the back button 3-4 times just to exit an activity and get back to my home feed. There needs to be a quick one tap way to exit an activity back to the home feed. Additionally, the most recent update that gives premium members a different badge and highlights the data sections to show what is for premium members only is strange and feels like you’re marketing to people that have already paid for a premium membership. I know that I get additional features as a premium member, which is why I am paying, I don’t need it highlighted once I have already subscribed. Other things like suggested routes in my feed is not something I want or use, and “athlete intelligence” is strange and not helpful. Most of the updates to this app in the past couple of years feel like they either add no value or deteriorate the experience. If there was a way to go back to what the app was a few years ago I would do it immediately!.Version: 412.0.0

Disappointed in the addition of walks to run challengesI downloaded Strava two years ago when I’d started running more and have enjoyed the running challenges as a way to continue advancing in the sport and going for more distance (and loved that the challenges were separated based on the sport being tracked - rightfully so - from the walking challenges). Since the update to include walking in the running challenges, I don’t see a point in joining them going forward. Defeats the purpose of calling it a “running” challenge. Perhaps consider keeping the running challenges (100k, 200k, etc.) to just running and create SEPARATE 100k, 200k, etc. walking challenges. These could also incorporate running for those who complained about wanting this but PLEASE allow runners to accurately track and challenge themselves to strive for more workouts they actually record as runs. There is NO logical reason that additional challenges could not be created to achieve this purpose. NONE, especially considering how many other challenges there are. Did no one think through this possibility? If not, you should do so immediately! All this update does is push runners into considering alternate apps that actually support athletes interested in separating their workout types. Again, why even track by sport if they’re all lumped together anyhow?!? That was the whole purpose of joining this app for me. A TERRIBLE update and from what I’m reading, many feel the same way. Strava doesn’t seem to be in touch with their users and if it keeps trending in this direction of zero differentiation, I will not be renewing my paid subscription..Version: 342.0.1

Great app but a few suggestionsThis app is great, and is amazing for tracking weekly mileage, shoe mileage, and other people’s runs. It’s also great for looking back and seeing how past activities felt. However, the design of it could use some improvements. First is the discrepancies between the browser and app. The app now has dark mode but why not the browser version? The browser has a different look and has entirely different ways of seeing data that aren’t in the app or some data that can’t be seen. Most importantly, why doesn’t the app have correct distance? The best thing would be to take the best parts of each and combine them together to be more similar. A change I didn’t like was that to see your own profile you have to click into a different tab which is annoying, overall design and layout could be improved. Also some random bugs, when importing from Apple Watch it miscalculates the elevation which should be fixed. Again, absolutely great app but these changes would make it seem more polished and user friendly..Version: 366.0.0

Difficult to NavigateI paid for a year’s subscription with the hope to find one app I can log and track, all my activities in which are Hiking in the winter and gym workouts all year, in the summer kayaking and Paddle boarding. I like the 3D map when route is finished, especially hiking and paddling. However if I start my hike in my Apple Watch it gets it right, if I try to record an activity on my phone it defaults to Paddle boarding. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Trying to navigate back after a hike to edit my stopping point as I often forget to stop or start my watch is frustrating. I enjoyed my trail forks app more or All trails but no charts. I think it is trying to be good at everything and it needs some help. I do not think the integration with Apple IOS is very good. I wanted to love this but just frustrated. I suspect it keeps defaulting to paddle-boarding on my phone because that was my primary activity in the Summer. I have to go back in and edit the hike to fix the activity because the phone app defaults to record paddle and I can’t change it until after my hike. I usually start from my Apple watch but I do not always have it with me. I also wanted to set up Siri shortcut but only run or walk seems to be choice. Since I paid for it I will use it until then. Voice control would have been best or a phone shortcut..Version: 387.0.0

Functionality is going downhill, not that strava can measure itOkay so this is a bit of a rage review. I've been using strava pretty dilligently for about 2 years. It's been mostly great, showing timed splits and elevation gain to give a good granular sense of what happened during a workout. It's really all I wanted, since I don't intend on getting heart rate monitor. However, lately strava has been goofing up on time elapsed, distance gone, maybe my actual location? Not sure. But it'll take a good half-mile for the app to figure out that I've started moving, even after manually starting a workout and confirming that my location is correct. It will also just stop registering that I'm still moving in the middle of a workout, paradoxically showing my location way off of the blue line while the timer is still running. This throws off all the calculations for timing and honestly is pretty disheartening that I don't have an accurate record of my efforts. I know strava gets is revenue from user data, but why am I using this broken app if it isn't even giving me the data it has advertised? How reliable is the background data being collected? At this point, I might as well go back to using the timer and maps apps built in to iOS, since I'm already using them to figure out what strava did wrong in the first place..Version: 160.0.0

Needs workI tried Strava a few years ago and didn’t love it. I’ve used several running apps over the years. The one I have used consistently over the last 4 years has been Runkeeper. I have a few friends on Strava and I thought I’d try it again because I like the social aspect of sharing with friends. Strava has a lot of nice data and it seems that their paid service revolves more around training plans rather than focused on just giving you more data. This makes sense to me. I really want to like this app! I use an Apple Watch but also carry my phone. The watch app starts up pretty fast so that’s a plus. My main issues with Strava is that I have to go to the website in order to add my shoes so I can track the mileage. This seems silly. I can’t find a reason for it. I don’t want extra steps to get the app set up I also have a big issue with the app not showing me two decimal places for mileage. This is beyond silly. It’s just dumb. Runner like stats. We don’t want to have to log on to the website to get info that should be available on the app. Isn’t the entire point of an application to be self contained? The app is good but be aware that setup will take you 10 extra minutes and that viewing stats will be something that you will have to set aside time to do AFTER your run..Version: 48.0.0

Wonderful app, but a few suggestionsI’ve had a great time with Strava so far, it’s my favorite way to keep up with friends virtually. I often commute by bike and post many rides to and from work, though I often continue riding after stopping at home, and would love some more robust hide features. Currently, the hide start and end is limited to 1 mile only, which has been quite constraining, since I work farther than a mile away from home. It would be great to have no limit on the hide feature, that way I don’t have to completely crop/edit out such a big portion of my ride, or just hide my map entirely to hide where I live (no fun). Alternatively, and probably more difficult to implement, it would be cool to be able to hide/erase any section of an activity. For example, if I stopped at home halfway through, it would be sweet if I could hide from where I turned onto my street to where I came back. I hope this reaches a developer, I would love for one of these features to exist. It would make my time on Strava much more enjoyable and cut down on the time I spend deciding how to hide my home during an activity, or when posting it afterward..Version: 466.0.0

Apple Watch Series 3I’ve used Strava for many years, I’ve been running for about 9 years now and I always use it to train for my races. I love the social aspect and I’ve never had an issue with the GPS when using my phone. I recently got an Apple Watch series 3, the main purpose being for exercise. I wanted to ditch the heavy phone and run with something lighter. I also was excited about moving to Bluetooth headphones to avoid the phone/cord situation and the hands free aspect was really appealing. Not to mention the Apple Watch also tracks heart rate and other things that my iPhone didn’t do. However, I’ve been really disappointed in the connection between my Apple Watch and Strava. My runs are totally off, it often gets the distances wrong, misses huge chunks of my runs, and records my runs as if I had gone way faster. I thought that this was a flaw in the watch but I have friends who have tried other apps with success. I also thought this was a matter of having the data plan, but I switched over to the one with data and I’m still having issues. I would love to see them make improvement in this realm. I’m so excited about the convenience of my watch and I want to keep using Strava, so I’m hoping to see some upgrades soon!.Version: 65.0.0

Buggy/Limited Gear TrackingDownloaded Strava primarily to track mileage on gear since MapMyRun discontinued this app/feature. Strava fails to save my selection for mileage alert… I keep trying to select my preferred mileage alert (for a pair of runners, for example) and save it… but every time I go back in to look at the gear via “edit item” it either shows a completely random number (that I never selected) or fails to show a mileage alert? I feel this feature has been falsely advertised if you download the app to find you cannot even use it appropriately. I am pretty loyal to MapMyRun as it has my entire history logged plus it syncs to MyFitnessPal… I’d rather not have to download an additional app (like “GearTracking”) just to keep track of my shoe mileage… I liked that Strava works like MapMyRun (without media limits) combined with GearTracking… but I’m annoyed the gear tracking is acting buggy and doesn’t offer as much as the GearTracking app (ie consideration of prior mileage, pie chart progress graph on gear mileage, etc.) Not sure if I will continue using Strava as a result? Minus 1 star for a buggy gear tracking performance which is what I came to Strava for..Version: 266.0.0

Has ALMOST every thing I want but...Seriously, Strava you have just about every conceivable feature and aspect of a great running/biking app. Great social interaction, widespread usage, which makes the segment portion great almost everywhere I run/bike, and the BEST analytics. I have been waiting in vain for years for you to add ANY sort of interval training with distance, time, and heart rate. I would accept just a simple timer in the app, but audio cues for speed/HR/timers/distance and customizable training plans would be preferred. People might think with the paid version they would get it, but they would be wrong. Since this MAJOR OVERSIGHT has been noted by people on your forums, you know about it, but are willfully ignoring us, your users. I have almost reached my breaking point and am about to give up hope and switch to Runkeeper or Nike. It feels like the Benedict thing to do, but I CANNOT WAIT FOR YOU FOREVER! The saddest part will be leaving all my Strava friends behind for literally any other app that has this, simply because you refuse to add such a staple of training: INTERVALS. This is my last ditch effort to get ANY SORT of interval training in Strava, but if you don’t add it soon I am done with you 😢. Seriously Strava, DON’T MAKE ME LEAVE YOU!!! I LOVE THE REST OF THE APP TOO MUCH!.Version: 107.0.0

So many things wrong and a few things right.Ok maybe a little harsh, it I'll make a list: - The new layout as of about a few months ago, is horrible. When clicking on an image/video/ or map to see a it, it takes you through the stats. Then you have to click it again to view it. It wasn't like that before, it was one less click. - The user interface for the map is also horrible. It used to feel like a normal map you would use in any other app on the internet. Now when you pinch to zoo, the map acts like you want to rotate it, it's highly unintuitive, but it used to work perfectly and normally before. - Lastly, for now, please allow longer videos, or at least the ability to select which 30 seconds of a video we upload, like every other platform on the internet. And... don't crop the videos to fit the screen, it always cuts off the wrong areas of the video/picture. Cmon guys, it's 2025 and your programmers seem like this is internet 1.0 like tap tap tap to get the right letter.Version: 409.0.0

Great platform but infuriating watch app behaviorBig Strava user, I think there's a lot of opportunities for features they leave on the table like allowing groups to share locations in synchronized events etc. but the core app works great. Except for the watch app. The watch app is infuriatingly frustrating in that it will open and present you with the choice of activities and even let you go so far to click on one of those activities, to start recording an event, but then it will restart or reset itself or do some kind of cloud synchronization thing and it hasn't actually started recording your track. but if you don't notice it and triple confirm that it actually started recording you will lose your recording completely it'll just never exist. What you have to do is open the Watch app stare at it for 20 seconds just to make sure it's not faking you out and isn't going to reload itself, and then you can begin your recording. this has been true across many updates to the app over the years I can't believe they can't get around to fixing it. Don't present the menu to users until you're done doing whatever initialization you need to do its that simple..Version: 401.0.0

Good but not greatI use a fitbit that is allegedly connected to strava and my fitbit definitely monitors my heart rate. But strava, while telling me it has the permission and connection, it just doesn't talk to my fitbit. Which brings up another point. I don't have to open the fitbit app and tell it, hey, I'm going for a run. It just notices I'm, you know, running, because it has an accelerometer. So I don't get "strava credit" for exercise I do that my fitbit knows about (and apple health, by extension). This is important because strava has good analytics about my power levels and training routines that fitbit just isn't made for or offers (and apple health also doesn't do this). Also, strava tracks mileage on my equipment, like shoes, I want to know about, but it won't know I've gone for a run or walk or hike unless I ask it to. Which brings up another point. The strava web app lets you add equipment like multiple pairs of shoes (what can I say, I'm fabulously dressed), but the mobile app doesn't. I emailed support about adding groups and they told me to use the web interface because the mobile app doesn't support it. Hey. It's 2020. Chrome is not your app, that orange icon on my phone is. Get with the program here and try to make your mobile app as mature and capable as the web app, and if fitbit is eating your lunch for your PRIMARY FUNCTION, you are doing something wrong. Sorry, strava, I love your app and what it does but it is just so inadequate I wind up using it maybe 1/3 of the time, and that means it literally never gives me an accurate analysis of my conditioning, effort, or history. Aim higher. Be a good app. I really want to use it as my primary fitness app and I'm so discouraged by it. 😥.Version: 181.0.3

Wonky integration with Apple HealthI suspect the fault for this lies in iOS, but cycling distance received by Apple Health from Strava is often truncated. For example, yesterday’s little neighborhood ride of 15.2 miles initially appeared in Apple Health as being 10.2 miles, which is probably where I paused for a long telephone conversation. Today, that same ride shows up in the Health App as being approximately 13.1 miles, and Apple shows it segmented hour by hour. One day earlier, a 9 mile climb of 1650 feet, followed by a short pause, then a 1.5 mile cruise along the shore of the alpine reservoir, then another pause at the end of the pavement to share our trophies (delicious cookies), then a downhill rush ended up segmented into 3 adjacent hours with the total distance recorded in Apple Health about 1.5 miles less than recorded by Strava. Strava’s data source for this information is NOT the Apple Phone’s or Apple watch’s GPS (I wear each), but my Garmin Edge 1030, which exports to the Strava app on my Apple iOS and macOS devices. I know that Strava doesn’t reveal the precise start and endpoints of activities beginning at my home address, but that’s not the issue here..Version: 275.0.0

Hard to use. Constant ads to upgrade.A lot of my riding buddies use it and have asked me to install it. I just want something for free and can track my rides with elevation profiles and speed. Strava seems to do that and a lot more, especially ads that keeps hounding you to upgrade to the premium version. Cool thing is that it can record your movements with GPS and can be set up with privacy in mind. Here are a bunch of thing that bug me about this app: 1) the Feed is kind of confusing sometimes. It takes sometime to get use to on what is what, especially the stupid ads are mixed in. 2) the header part of the app where you have links or buttons. They're hard to press and a lot of the times, the don't work. A good example is the bell on the Feed. You have to press it numerous times or just let your thumb sit there for a few seconds to get you to a notification screen. 3) settings and other setups require so many steps to set up the app or to start a recording process. I wish there's a non-paid app without any advertisements that can give you GPS tracking on a map with speed and elevation without all the bloated crap that comes with Strava. To bad there's none out there at the moment..Version: 35.0.0

Self accountabilityLove that it helps keep track and set goals. Its made me more competitive with keeping up with other riders on some of my local bike segments too. Lets talk about segment records though:Love that feature, unfortunately some KOM’s and most of the top 10’s are clearly and obviously e-bikes, but thats not the apps problem. Example: a local 12% grade 1/4 mile monster climb I do frequently has a KOM record of 18 seconds at 27.1 mph. No way thats not an e-bike. Another segment thats not even a real path (yet, proposed path under freeway) has a KOM of 67mph which someone obviously drove over the freeway to achieve. Disappointed in the dishonesty so I’ll have to just try to focus on and beat my own times. Wishlist: Would love if the rider with the most annual achievements on a segment could rename it. A couple of my local trails are named after individuals or are different than the official mountain trail names. Would also love to see who has the most outside time on a real bike. Virtual rides are mucking up those stats too..Version: 402.0.0

Great App. Except they take away from free usersWhile I love that in Strava I can share my runs with friends and my coach while doing challenges, I have noticed that they like to slowly take away the things you can do without buying their overpriced subscription. I have to say that I joined when segment leaderboards were still all free, routes were free, and you got a year in review of your activities at the end of the year. This was great, made me love the app, but since then it has become an app that only lets you see top overall on a segment and men and women best times. It has also made it necessary to pay for the ability to use the number of routes freely created by other users and inputted into their database. And finally very recently they made the Year in Sport exclusive to subscribers. In the end it is just a Facebook for sharing activities and adding up numbers. Many other tracking apps have uh more available for free than Strava. Just know if you want to make sure you will always have access to something on the app, but the subscription. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made the whole app only available by subscription..Version: 285.0.0

Trying to love you Strava...Wanted to find an alternative app for tracking my running miles (and the occasional bike ride) and decided to give strava a try. When I first downloaded the app, I still had access to leaderboards and all that jazz, but since then Strava has thrown the subscription model at its users like so many others. ($60 a year is pretty wild if you ask me). Although I was bummed, I still enjoyed the challenges and still preferred the overall interface over Nike’s. However, over the past few months I feel like I’ve been seeing an uptick in the amount of runs that don’t get tracked properly. I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to finish a long run, only to get back and look at Strava saying I’ve only run 2.8 miles. Like what?? Sometimes the app won’t even track my movement at all during a run and I’ll find myself on the sidewalk messing with my phone trying to close out of the app to reset it, and at times that doesn’t even fix the issue. I would rather not go back to using Nike’s app (for reasons I won’t go into), but at least their gps tracking system is solid. Strava if you see this, please address this issue. (Currently on iPhone X).Version: 162.0.0

Latest iwatch 3 updatePrevious version worked well for running if auto-pause was disabled because the watch would pause if you looked at the screen while running. I thought that was fixed with latest update because the timer keeps going. I tried to run four miles two different days and I begin looking at my screen a lot at 3.8. The timer kept going but the distance was stuck on 3.8. I finally stopped looking at the screen at hit 4.0 eventually. This has happened last two runs and kills my average speed and try distance. I’m pretty sure the app stops counting miles when the screen is active. I don’t know if this is related to auto-pause or not. I’ve turned auto pause off and don’t look at the screen anymore. The app is definitely buggy. Strava creates a great social network that is the standard for cycling, but stick with Your Garmin and then upload. Not sure why it’s taking this long to build a stable watch app. I never had problems with the phone app..Version: 37.0.0

Best gps app for the outdoor inclinedBest app for tracking your walk, run, ride, kayak, backcountry skin tour. The amount of sports that it has and the data generated is bar none the best. I also use trail forks as this doesn’t really have a map option of known trails like Trailforks or all trails but the free version gives you insights those other aforementioned apps do not and the paid version(subscription based) has a few more features(always coming out with more) that I found quite interesting and slightly more insightful. Also for those solo shredders, walker, hikers, and anyone using the app, the community based competition is also very inviting and allows you to ouch yourself against other people and against the clock. This allows you to use this also as a training aid and or just to see how your personal fitness stacks up from year to year, week to week, day to day. I love this app and find myself using it everyday. Stay stoked and I highly recommend it!!🤘🤙.Version: 204.0.0

Awesome but some problemsI love this app because as a beginner runner it’s helped me figure out my stats and all that important stuff so I can see areas I need to fix on. But there is one minor issue, I have been using this app for over a year and it’s been perfect for me but just recently over the summer I have noticed some issues with how the app tracks. It will record everywhere I’ve ran in one run but it won’t actually start timing it or start the distance tracker until i’m more than half a mile in. Which is a very big inconvenience because when it doesn’t track my distance for a little while it effects my time which then effects my pace messing the whole run up and making it look like I did bad. Therefore I don’t actually know how far I ran or what my pace was or what amount of time I did it in. So then i’m not sure how well I did on the run or where I need to improve on. So I just wish they could fix that problem before I decided to go and buy an apple watch and be done with this app..Version: 227.0.0

Only a fraction of what it could do...As a I’ve been using Zwift and training indoors for the past year. Have made healthy eating decisions as well but overall has helped me lose 25 lbs and pushed me through the terrible part of the cold season where I can’t ride. This app is amazing. stand-alone the app is fine. If all you want to do is record your ride it does that. I own an Apple Watch 4th gen and as stupid as this is you can’t record on your watch in order to get heartbeat and have your iPhone mounted on your bike to use simultaneously giving you access to your mph, trail position, length or ride etc. The only thing they offer are workarounds. Until there is full integration between apple watch and the iPhone the app is only really half complete because they don’t compliment one another. Really is unfortunate because if they worked as one unit for a single recording it would be a fantastic app. Now it’s just cumbersome and annoying..Version: 128.0.0

I LOVE This App!!!I am a very active person and this app helps me to track all of my activities. There are also fun challenges that you can participate in with your friends and I do them all of the time. Another amazing thing about this app is that your activity is shown on a map and — for example— you can see where you ran the fastest or when you burned the most calories. There are also plenty more features in this app including the fact that you can follow friends and see how much they are exercising, introducing some friendly competition. I will also point out that this app is great if you are doing a team sport like swim or track because the coach can see everything you do on Strava and so can your teammates. There are a few people in my family who also have this app and they say that their kids think that Strava is the best fitness apps there is. Honestly . . . I couldn’t agree more!!!.Version: 416.0.0

Inaccurate GPS trackingThe social aspect of the biking got me to use this instead of MapMyRide. I love the badges and how motivational it is to beat your PRs and place in the top 10s. However, this thing is SEVERELY glitched. Granted, I’m using an iPhone and I keep it in my under saddle zip bag (could affect tracking?), but the times are heinously inaccurate. They have guys getting .03 seconds for a trail segment that’s 1/4 mile long, IN THE WOODS, on single track between trees. This isn’t even paved, and it’s physically impossible for a human to get those times, or even finish it in .10s for that matter. There are multiple people logging these ridiculous times. It’s important for me to know how I’m actually doing relative to the truth rather than fictional, glitched data. Completely deflates me when I put in maximum effort, easily clock under .30s on a trail segment and it reads 1:54!? I know I’m in the woods, but it’s absurd that in 2019 this data can’t be tracked with the utmost accuracy through some tree cover on a perfectly clear day. The features are really fun, but if the data can’t be trusted, this app is no better than a calorie counter..Version: 112.0.0

Great concept, needs work.I have been using Strava for about a year now, and there’s a lot to love about the app. It tracks your mileage, keeps record of your equipment miles and aggregates the numbers for you. However there is a lot to be worked on. I am beginning to train for an IronMan, which means I plan my runs, rides and swims at the beginning of the week and follow my schedule. Unfortunately, my planned schedule looks a lot different than my Strava schedule due to the fact that the data transfer for my swim sessions from my Garmin Fénix 3 to Strava are always damaged, telling me that I swam TOMORROW. I searched up how to fix it and it led me down a tedious trail of uploading single workouts to “repair” the files. I don’t think this should be the users responsibility. Especially a summit user. Additionally, we all like to see the little achievement bar at the top of our workout when we set a new segment record for ourselves or overall. However, I have noticed that many Strava users do not list their workouts under the correct activity which distorts the leaderboards, specifically for runners. I spent the last 30 minutes flagging the same guy for posting several workouts as runs that were truly rides, to the point that Strava temporarily blocked me from flagging anyone. I personally think Strava should have an algorithm to verify that a workout is a valid activity type, especially if the workout has a bunch of KOM’s. These were the two biggest problems I found with Strava. So if you don’t swim or just casually exercise, never looking for any records, it’s a great app! Try it out..Version: 149.0.0

New Update - May 20, 2020Very disappointed to see the focus of Strava move from a community based fitness app to a profit driven cash grab. Maybe I’m being a bit dramatic here but the reality is I don’t have money kicking around for a Strava subscription. I accept that there are going to be aspects of the app that I won’t have access to, however I would maintain that to this point the [free] app was of 5 star quality and a must have workout tracker. After the update is an entirely different story, however. The free app has been stripped to the bare bones, no more access to segment leaderboards...I can’t even view my own previous times on segments. Honestly I leave a 3 star rating because I have loved using Strava for the past few years, in reality I should really leave a 1 star review. If you are able to afford the cost of a subscription to Strava, then by all means, it is a great app that is a fun and useful tool for tracking your workouts...BUT, I would not personally recommend the app as it currently stands unless you don’t have any other option available..Version: 150.0.1

Just 1 (major) thing that’s missing…I love just about every aspect of this app! However the Apple Watch app is lacking any way to actually view or follow a route that you’ve saved from the iphone app. If only there were a map view on the strava Watch app! No one with an Apple Watch wants to carry their phone while running!! Right now after discovering or creating routes in strava, I’m forced to then write the route out onto a piece of paper like it’s 1980! That is still preferable to me over having to carry my phone on a run as I have an Apple Watch which is perfectly capable of navigation/mapping. If only the app offered this. Another option would be to export the route and use it in another running app that offers map views; but at $60 a year you’d expect strava to offer this basic functionality in the Watch app. Here’s hoping! Otherwise another competitor will offer this soon, and I’d be willing to pay for it!.Version: 225.0.0

Subscription issue solutionMy husband & I share my Apple ID for a number of things. We both downloaded Strava but I am the one who actually uses it. I decided to pay for the subscription, but when I clicked to subscribe (from my phone, within my Strava app), the subscription got credited to him. I tried to contact support but didn’t receive a response. After a few days I decided to try & delete my husbands account to see if that would free up the subscription. This worked. I was then able to hit “restore purchase” from my account. For the people who are frustrated with the cost, this is a complex application. If a product is free you are the product…. The price you pay is the freedom of not having your data sold, and having an ad free app that runs smoothly. The reason I gave it 4 stars was because I felt for the price it would’ve made sense to actually get a response from customer support..Version: 284.0.0

Wish this app had better swim tracking & pregnancy modeLove this app in many ways, but I wish it had better swim tracking. I wish it had: - open swim - lap swim - a setting for when you are wearing flippers - the ability to tap your iWatch when you completed a lap - pregnancy mode It was also very hard to figure out how to get it to display detailed heart rate data. Even my husband who uses Strava a lot and is a software engineer involved in UI design couldn’t figure it out. It’s a solid app, but it could use some better UI and improvements with certain sports. Seems heavily rotated towards biking & running with not enough attention on swimming. Wish they would purchase or parter with a better swim app like MySwimPro to get better swim data. Extra extra cool would be better integration of tides, swells, currents, and weather data for open swimmers. In 2022, 12 people died near me open swimming and I wonder if apps like this could help people make more informed decision when making choices. Strava could also advertise safety gear like a $20 swim buoy to open water swimmers. Perhaps even with Strava logo on it…it could save lives. Also wish it were easier to connect with other people doing my sports in the area. Surprised the social aspect is so focused on existing friends. Seems like a nice way to connect with others. Also wish it were easier to become aware of in-person competitions, races, clubs, and training opportunities..Version: 285.0.2

Autopause doesn’t work for hikes or walksIf autopause is on, it immediately pauses if I’m walking. That means I have to disable autopause if I’m tracking a hike or run/walk/run type training, so I’m always having to go back into the settings and switch it back and forth. I’ve lost tracking on parts of my routes because of this. I don’t understand why autopause isn’t sensitive enough to track walking/stopping. Other apps seem to handle this just fine. Units and splits: why does the display only show tenths of miles and not hundredths? Maybe since this started as a biking app, 1/10 of a mile made sense, but as a runner I think more in terms of 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 mile distances for pace training. I am unable to do this on strava because it doesn’t display the data (that it is already gathering), and because there is no way to select a different option for audio feedback frequency (like every 1/4 mile). So, there are many things to like about the app, but the bottom line is that it has limited usefulness and versatility for training..Version: 113.0.0

Could be an incredible app, but..While the app is overall good for tracking my running progress and workouts, there’re several major issues. First of all, if a GPS malfunctions during a race, resulting in your distance being cut short, there’s no way to rectify this. Strava does not consider manually entered activities as best efforts (why though?? I’m the one paying for it to track MY progress), and their customer support is useless. Secondly, the new AI feature is garbage - race predictions are frustrating and not accurate at all. The AI tool is simply not good enough to evaluate your training, training approach and little adjustments to the training plan, weather conditions, terrain, elevation, etc., to come up with accurate race predictions. There should be an option to hide or turn off the AI feature. Lately, I feel pretty disappointed about my experience, especially given the high price point. It just feels like Strava’s product team does not listen to users’ complaints and concerns..Version: 435.0.1

Good for tracking workouts, but super frustratingI had the free version and the paid version. Near as I can tell the paid version gets you very little. Connectivity with the watch is super frustrating. Just when you wanna start your workout, it wants you to update the app. How in the hell can you do that when you’re in the ocean or the mountains surfing hiking biking or all the things that says it’s supposed to track? You don’t have data in the spots. It should just track the workout and then have you update when you’re trying to upload. Connecting with apps like Surfline is a joke. You can’t tell where your data is or what it’s supposed to be doing with that data. I’ve tried creating routes, but it will only create a route that somebody else has done. I would like to use it for backpacking surfing and sailing. I spend more time poking it’s buttons than doing what I want to do. Counterproductive. I might as well just keep a log with a note app or pencil and paper..Version: 464.0.0

Notifications…I had not used Strava the entire winter season so this weekend was the first time using the app for a number of months since last fall. Since that time there have been updates to the app. The other day, I used it for the first time since the end of last summer and I noticed upon receiving a kudos, that I also received an email notification of said kudos in addition to the push notification from the app itself. I promptly entered the settings within the app… found email notifications… observed that it was toggle on… then proceeded to toggle it off. Today I again recorded a bike ride. Shortly after completion, I received a kudos. I additionally received an email notification of said kudos. Feeling… Confused, I entered settings once again, thinking perhaps email notifications somehow turned itself back on. Nope! it is still set off… yet I am receiving email notifications. To correct this, I opened the email notification and at the bottom, followed the link to unsubscribe from kudos email notifications. This in itself is a ridiculous extra step when there is a designated email notifications toggle button within the settings of the Strava app. The fact that I still receive email notifications despite having toggle that specific switch to off, essentially makes that feature within the settings menu pointless. Perhaps this is a bug? I honestly cannot imagine that it is by design..Version: 359.0.0

Needs better watch options for sports other than cycling and running.4 stars for the phone app - has tracking for many activities. 2 stars for the watch app - should mirror tracking options of the main app. It is frustrating that the watch app does not offer the same tracking options as the phone app. The watch has options for bike rides, runs, & hikes, but pretty much every other activity is excluded from the watch app. Everything else is generically lumped into the “workout” option, which has no way to track speed or distance. This means that if you want to track anything other than heart rate and workout time for an activity that isn’t a run or bike ride using your watch, you will have to bring your phone to do so. 😕 This is disappointing since this is one of the few apps that will track roller (inline) skating. Also, there should be some way to integrate the heart rate features from the watch into the phone app, which apparently only works with third party heart monitors..Version: 186.0.0

Great app, but new subscription disappointingI have been using Strava for a few years and have grown to like the app for tracking my activities and sharing them with others. I’m disappointed however at the new all or nothing subscription. I’m willing to pay for what I use and did consider going premium before but I train recreationally with no particular goals and so the premium features were of no interest to me. Even the perks almost all don’t apply to where I live. Why not have a basic subscription with the features that were free and have been taken away? Even though the subscription is “only the price of three energy bars a month” I don’t think I have ever bought three of those bars in my life because they are too expensive for my needs. I will probably continue to use Strava while watching functions slowly disappear since it still is the best I have found, but would like to contribute to the app in a non professional athlete kind of way while not being stuck with a bare-bones tracker..Version: 150.0.2

Too Many Dolla BillsToo expensive and heart rate cancels most of the time.Version: 205.0.0

This app sucksNo more 200 or 300km run badges. One star for you Strava!.Version: 361.0.0

Recent updateThe most recent update changed a lot of the simple free features and put them behind a pay wall, I would finding an alternative since the basic features in this app are decreasing.Version: 150.0.1
