SKY TONIGHT is a brand-new astronomical app for exploring the sky. It helps stargazers answer the three most common questions:
⁕ What is that bright dot in the sky?
⁕ What astronomical events can I see tonight?
⁕ How can I find the object I'm interested in?
Made by the developers of Star Walk apps, Sky Tonight is a customizable stargazing tool, that is designed for users with different needs and wants. You can adjust the constellation's appearance, set a reminder for any space body configuration, explore the unique relative to observer trajectory, set up a magnitude limit to filter out space objects, and much more.
SKY TONIGHT FEATURES:
► Point your device at the sky to see the real-time positions of space objects on the interactive sky map.
► Activate the Time Machine and determine the position of celestial bodies at different time periods.
► Use the augmented reality mode and see the sky map overlaid on the image from your device's camera.
► Get extended information about any sky object by tapping on its name.
► Stay updated on the latest news from the world of astronomy with the What's new section.
► Turn on the night mode to make your sky observation in the nighttime more comfortable.
► Filter the objects that appear on the sky map according to their visual brightness.
► Regulate the brightness of objects on the sky map.
► Spot dozens of asterisms along with the official constellations.
► Adjust the visible constellations and customize their representation on the screen.
UNIQUE FEATURES:
◆ INTERACTIVE TRAJECTORIES RELATIVE TO AN OBSERVER
Instead of the classic trajectory that shows the object’s trajectory in the celestial sphere relative to the Earth’s center, the app presents the object’s trajectory in the sky relative to an observer. A long touch on the trajectories relative to the observer will move the sky object to the selected point. While holding the touch, move your finger along the trajectory to change the time.
◆ FLEXIBLE SEARCH
Make use of the flexible search — quickly find space objects, easily navigate across different objects and events’ types. Look for "stars", "mars moons", "mars conjunctions", "solar eclipse", and the app will show you all related objects, events, and articles!
There are also Trending and Recent categories in the search section. The first one presents the currently most popular objects, events, or news; the second category contains objects you recently selected.
◆ FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE EVENT REMINDERS
Set event reminders on any time and date not to miss a solar eclipse, a Full Moon, or a star-planet configuration you're interested in.
◆ ASTRONOMY CALENDAR WITH A STARGAZING INDEX AND WEATHER FORECAST
Check out the calendar of celestial events that includes lunar phases, meteor showers, eclipses, oppositions, conjunctions, and other exciting events. Learn what astronomy events will occur this month or see what happened in the sky a year ago!
Verify the Stargazing Index calculated from a Moon phase, light pollution, cloudiness, and time when an object is visible. The higher this index is, the better the observation conditions are.
You don’t need several apps for your stargazing planning anymore; Sky Tonight contains all the info you need.
Premium Access:
* The app includes paid Premium Access. Get Premium Access to use Sky Tonight with no limits! Without the subscription, you can’t see most of the interface items in various sections such as Visible Tonight, Calendar, and Search. Therefore, you’re limited in planning and improving your observations. Premium Access will allow you to unlock all the interface items in any view and make the most of all the app’s features. Advertisements will also be removed not to interrupt your stargazing experience.

Sky Tonight - Stargazing Guide Positive Reviews
Awesome AppStellar app! 😉✨🌌 It’s so cool how it allows you to see the constellations in your own night sky. My brother and I were wondering what a bright orange “star” was in the sky, and we found out that it was Mars from the app. But indeed it has much more than star and planet identification. The app gives so much information (and random fun trivia) about everything you see in the night sky. Just click on Mars and the app tells you innumerable tidbits about its whereabouts, orbit, planetary information, etc. Then, you can scroll in, and suddenly Mars’ moon will come into sight, and you can find tons of information on that too. Truly a brilliant app. P.S. I forgot about the constellation info that’s super interesting, and also the app gives you a night sky calendar, which includes everything from the lunar schedule to when you have the best odds of seeing meteors ☄️from your own backyard..Version: 1.5.0
WOW!!Man this app, so far is GREAT! And the subscription price is insanely cheap to boot! Been looking for one I liked for while now that I didn’t need a degree just to understand how to use it, etc, & at a price id be cost okay with. Also, I was actually wow’d by how I ended coming across this app, which was after got I read what info the app I was using had I saw something where could find out more about it. Link went right to it and a few sentences in, I literally stopped to see what app it was on, didn’t recognize it, so checked that it wasn’t already in by ‘queue’ of apps I download, rather than reading about, cuz besides how exhausting that gets, as I’m sure many of you can relate to by now IF you’re still reading my review, haha, anyway this app rocks. Plus couldn’t believe how cheap it is and just keep liking it more ‘n more. Anyway, I think this app is great! Thank you!.Version: 1.4.2
Amazing !I love it, it’s so detailed about every star and constellation. I also really like how you can move your phone around and it shows you what the stars look like from that point of view. If you point your phone to the ground then it shows you the stars and constellations on the other side of the earth. Another interesting feature is you can click on a specific star and learn different properties about it. Such as the absolute magnitude or how far away it is. Not only can you learn about it but you can see events on when you would see it in the sky. I think that the way you can see shooting stars and zoom in a ton but still be really good graphics is amazing. I learned about this app several years ago from my great uncle when we were star gazing who died sort of recently and I decided to download it..Version: 2.0.1
Detailed and ThoroughThis app is really amazing. the level of detail in each heavenly body is incredible! they have orbit trajectories, peaks in the horizon as a function of time, data about the stars and planets, size, distance, visual magnitude. It’s frankly overwhelming how detailed and well made this app is. On top of that, the augmented reality is extremely accurate and responsive and the constellations are artistic renditions that are fun and interesting while still allowing you to see the star formation and lines behind the art piece. just an incredible app overall and i recommend everyone download and just have fun with it for a few hours..Version: 1.2.2
Pretty sweet.Very nice touch to an evolving app but curious why I need to keep buying a new app instead of updating these features within star walk 1 and 2. A few suggestions- I wish the stargazing index would reference and show how it is being calculated, do you use CSC data? I would also love to see nebula or other DSO listed on the visible tonight list (as the settings ask for magnitude range I would love to see darker objects added). Add a setting to increase panning speed while searching, it’s too laggy. Don’t let these suggestions take away from the utility of this app. It’s been great, love the trajectory of selected objects with hourly tick marks! Makes it easy when I should go outside. Thanks!.Version: 1.2.2
THIS APP IS THE BEST!!!I have several apps to explain what I am looking at but this app goes way beyond the others! It tells you what you are looking at automatically facing the direction that you are at the correct time & date. If it is light out it asks to access your camera & you can photograph what you see with labels of items!! Information is available for each item in the sky! It sends you alerts for what you won’t want to miss. There’s no app (even their others) that are so informative. I can’t say enough positive about it, and highly recommend!!!.Version: 1.4.2
My daily go-to app to plan my stargazing, with one annoyanceI use the Visible Tonight feature daily to know when there is good seeing coming to my area. Great feature! That said, I find the sorting / filtering on the list of celestial objects visible to be annoying. I want to see what will be visible when I’m planning to view. I can’t find any way to sort by the time when objects become visible, meaning PM and AM hours are mixed. I would think “Date” would do what I want, but today’s PM and tomorrow’s AM are mixed in a way which makes no sense to me. Can you please provide an option to either sort by time visible, or to filter based on planned viewing time?.Version: 1.4.2
I’ve learned so much already!I’ve always been fascinated by the stars and I pull a lot of my power from them, but to learn about the night sky in such depth and in such a beautiful way is so appreciated! I love knowing exactly where I’m at in reference to the constellations and the music makes for a calming experience. I just moved to a new apartment and was sad about losing my old view, but my new view is the perfect stargazing opportunity (as far as living in a city goes) and my night isn’t complete without sitting by my window and learning through this app! Thank you 🙏🏻.Version: 1.7.1
Very rare is the app that makes you feel like a kid again! When you’re as old and jaded as me, most apps are strictly utilitarian. They serve a purpose, maybe make something easier, but that’s about it. THIS thing takes me back to my childhood- freezing outside while searching endlessly with my “Sears Best” telescope. I understand the technology behind the app AND the hardware, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t still impress me every time I start this app, point it at the sky, and satisfy some random curiosity. It isn’t magic, but it still kinda ‘feels’ like it is!.Version: 1.6.1
Show and tellWherever you point your camera, the app shows the sky in that direction on screen. The stars, constellations sun and Moon are all highlighted, but that options to customize the way they appear. There is also an option to select a date and look at the state of the known universe from that date. It would be nice if there was an option to show. Only the stars that are visible with the naked eye or at least include that in the already very detailed description..Version: 2.0.3
Highly recommended. Also needs a sort option. This app is great and includes recent articles on astronomy and related topics. I read it every day! The only flaw I could find is that the articles aren’t sorted by date, which is a pain if you read it every day and just want to see the most recent items. And, there’s no manual “sort by date” option. It seems like it would be a fairly simple fix. Is that something the developers might consider doing?.Version: 1.2.2
Buy nowI love stars when I was five I ate a whole star because I was so hungry and then my mom said don’t do that Ethan and I was like momnimnrunning away okay and then I took all my stuff and I followed the stars I was like five then so I like couldn’t actually go anywhere until I hopped on a train at this point in my life star apps weren’t a thing so anyways I met a bear who took off my leg but as I was bleeding out I saw the Big Dipper and that made it okay so I’m recommending this app because it saved my life.Version: 1.7.1
Love it!This app is so good! I love looking at the sky to see different constellations and this one and sky guide are perfect! I may say I like this one better though because it allows me to see every constellation and identify the stars in it, it even got the constellation hydra to be there which is the biggest so I wasn’t for sure if it would be there but it was! Overall I’m very pleased with this app, and I would so recommend it to anyone who also loves to stargaze!.Version: 1.9.0
AWSOME so farActually just got the new app 😁 I didn’t things could get better than the star walk 2 App. But I’m sure it will be evan better! Love all the apps !! So enjoy full !! Love just sitting in my hot tub after finishing my swing shift in the city of Denver well … not so much Colorado any more!! More like calirado or colorless evan New Rado. With this and the other apps I can float away to another planet or star evan a whole new galaxy!!! Thank you for all the serenity. And keep looking up 😇😉🤘. TTB..Version: 1.2.1
Seems like a good App…howeverI like the work you’ve done with app. After reading all the app information, the one that convinced me was the listed a “Lifetime Access Sale for $4.99”. After I downloaded the app the first thing I did was to find the “sale” and subscribe. I was disappointed that it could not be found. The only thing I found was a “Lifetime access for $8.99”. If there is a “$4.99 Lifetime Access Sale”, would you please advise me on how I may accomplish that purchase? Thank You.Version: 1.7.1
Meteor showerThis app and site are fantastic, I did not realize that I could send a text from this site to my Lady so she also can look for the meteors tonight. Believe me when I say that this is very user friendly if there were going to be problems setting this up I would have had them because I am not to savvy about this stuff but to my surprise I got through it the first time and it was very easy...Dan.Version: 1.2.2
Easiest to useMy kids and I adore this app. In the last five years, I have downloaded four or five apps that I hoped would let me point my phone in the sky and the app would tell me what I’m seeing. In my experience, “Sky Tonight” is the easiest. After 30 seconds, or so, it works perfectly. The image on the screen tracks how I move the phone. I haven’t had as much luck with others..Version: 1.7.1
The Star Clarity brought laughter & tears of Joy!On my son’s birthday this week I mentioned a New App a hiking friend had shared with me this month. As my son uploaded it and began exploring its vast features …his smile went galactic & we both got giddy! It FELT Like we were children getting our First TRUE LOOK at the Real Night Sky! He remembered the celestial friends he first learned as a kid & I recalled lying under the stars @ age 4 ~ seeing those Winking Friends above us ! Thank You ~ for an Ecstatic Experience with someone I dearly Love! It’s been a long time of Isolation during The Great Pause….sharing real time meaningful moments with Family I don’t see often ~~ Priceless! Get this App! Share this App! Go Out after sunset & Explore the Cosmos. Your Sky is waiting to show Wonders Tonight.Version: 1.5.0
FirstIt’s my first time using this app, and it seems very great and informative. I’m just facing couple of issues which I’m not sure if they are common or I am making a mistake: 1- The app acts well with my location and camera projection. However, time and date are not set automatically, I must go to the upper panel and update them. 2- There are some visible satellites, that the app wouldn’t define..Version: 1.6.1
Just amazingI am just a 70-year-old man living in the Philippines that likes to look up at the nice sky in all of its splendor. This app absolutely blows me away at all the details and graphics and information that these astronomers have put together and share it for free with us, that know nothing about the stars in the heavens in the cosmos it is beautiful and thanks to whoever made this app.Version: 1.9.0
Amazing! If you want to find out what you see in the sky this is your app. If you want to see some thing in the sky you heard about online, this is your app. If you want reliable notifications for things you might want to see in the sky, this is your app. If you want your kids to love astronomy, this is your app. It is an amazing way to learn about God’s beautiful creation!.Version: 1.6.1
The bestI’ve used a ton of different star gazing apps, but they are all expensive and don’t have nearly as much features as this app. The UI is amazing, as are the features. The ability to say that you only want to see objects that are visible to the naked eye is amazing. Also being able to get into on showers occurring in the future is exactly what I wanted. I love this app..Version: 1.5.0
Awesome AppFeature rich, easy and fun to use, this app has it all. It makes it easy to plan my telescope time. It gives me all of the information I need, so much so that I find myself using it even when I don’t plan to do any stargazing. I am so glad that I found this absolutely terrific app. The developer did an amazing job here. Highly recommended..Version: 1.9.0
Good but.....It's all good don't need to. Pay to buy but u. Need a subscription to read and. Look at some of the. Facts and I really want more free options like on. 🌑 lunar /solar eclipse and when we're. What. Will happen in future I highly would. Like this app to add more details plus it said Wikipedia (I mean Wikipedia ain't that bad but people can change it so I don't. Exactly trust this app).Version: 1.6.2
I love this appOk honestly this app is so cool. I’m a 15year old high school student and I’ve always loved the stars. I would look up at the stars but never know what I was looking at. Then my friends would tell me “dude did you see the shower last night” and I would be like no… so now I get alerts to tell me when they are, what planet are visible and where in the sky..Version: 1.8.2
Great appLove that there is an option to see it through your camera so you can pinpoint bright stars and planets without a telescope. I use this app every night and haven’t paid anything. Upgrading has amazing options but I just rather use only the feee options on apps since information that’s free is a great learning and starting point..Version: 1.5.0
Warning: You will get hooked!I had a different stargazing app for a while because it’s something my son and I like to do but it wasn’t holding up. I download this app and my son, who normally hates mornings, will get up at 5:30 AM to sit on the balcony to see what we can find. We are obsessed with all of the features!.Version: 1.7.1
I love but also don’t like this app a bit.See I love this app a lot! But sometimes it is wrong with where some stuff is in the sky like where the moon or sun is, etc. I pointed my iPad to the moon and it said the moon was on the whole other side for some reason. And it also makes it so it lags me out of my iPad and makes it so I can’t turn on my iPad for a few seconds. But great app overall! Love it!.Version: 1.8.2
The Most Amazing App Ever DevelopedI have always been an Astronomy freak, never had the opportunity to develop my knowledge of Astronomy, until now!! Every night, I can discover new stars, planets and the app lets me know if there is something out there for me to discover… Thank you so much to the developers of this App, I cant get enough of this app!!!.Version: 1.4.2
First timerI’m 70 years old. This is my first time seeing anything like this. I truly am intrigued and in awe. I can’t afford much in life and I’m thrilled to be able to use this app for free. Tonight I’m looking at the moon on a clear night sky and just found out that the star next to it isn’t a star that it’s a planet. ….Jupiter thanks!.Version: 1.7.1
Oh myIt is very hard to figure out. And when you pointed to the sky, you’re not sure whether you’re seeing what you’re supposed to see or not. Because when you pointed to the floor, you still see some type of store arrangements. I’m so sure this thing is even working..Version: 1.6.1
LifeThis is an amazing app man!! I look at the app everyday and it gives me the ability to see things I can only dream of! I’m on pscylociben mushrooms for my mental health and I was on my way to Jupiter and was watching the sky seen the actual stargazing shower, a mushroom that was dedicated to that actual shower! Was beautiful to watch I love this app.Version: 2.0.1
Sky TonightSky Tonight is one of the best and most immersive Astronomy apps out there. I would certainly give the app 5 stars. It is fun to use, educational, and very accurate. Any time I want to locate a constellation in the heavens I turn to Sky Tonight. This app is the pinnacle of what I have found in night sky apps! Thank you for developing it!.Version: 1.7.1
It’s a great app don’t get me wrongI love the app, but I had it last year and one of the updates took away my favorite feature. It took away the screen moving with your phone so you know what you are looking at. Maybe it’s just my phone doing this but It was my favorite feature that helped me set up my telescope in the right place.Version: 1.4.2
This is the best sky app outI’ve downloaded like 20 sky apps and deleted them. This one is in another category altogether. So many gadgets, I discover gateways to new features every time I use it. GPS sky map, star dim, astrological alignments, moon stats, constellations, asteroids, definitions, too much to name. Definitely a stellar app 😁🤩🌚✨💫.Version: 1.6.1
My favorite app about spaceThis app is my favorite because it tells you where planets are. It also tells you where stars and constellations too! Another thing is that you can see where everything is at all times..Version: 1.6.1
My choice since 2010 or smthNot sure why, but I like this app more than others. But the naming and the amount of different versions has become annoyingly confusing. it’s 2024 - still the best app for random showing off stars & constellations at parties. No, it ain’t cringe, kids, it’s romantic..Version: 2.0.1
Our gas giants and the not so big chunks of rockSaturn is one of my favorites. One of the easiest is Mars. Just look for the most red object in the night sky. My next favorite are the comets. There was one that made its appearance a decade ago and I swear you could see it during the day and night.🪐💫🚀🛸🗼⛩️🎆🎇🌠🌄⏰⏱️🧭🔭🔬☢️🔭🪐.Version: 2.0.0
GoodThis app it won’t let you really move around because it’s like messed up but I mean you could really see like the eclipse on Monday and yeah it’s a very good app but except for a few things like glitches and stuff or is that just part of the app but OK whatever I’m just gonna ignore it and I’m gonna keep using this app. Good job..Version: 1.9.0
So robust it makes my head spin!Hands down the best stargazing app I’ve found! The history, calendar, options and overall function is amazing! Not to mention even the free version is downright a plethora of information. By the time I learn the basics for free I’ll be an amateur astrologer..Version: 1.5.0
Great app… butIt would be great if I could use this app to see all of the visible satellites in the night sky. A magnitude filter would be nice too. You can do that now by going back and forth between search and the sky view but it is annoying. The AR is great and the database is huge..Version: 1.3.0
Comet location pulled me in 🥳👍I’m a long time user of the SkyView app but never found any way of locating current comet locations on that app. It is exciting to try this app for locating future comet’s and photographing those that are are viewable to the naked eye. Thanks for sharing this app.Version: 2.0.3
Why this app is grateIt can tell you ware they think the planets are going to be tonight it also let’s you use it every day or all day me and my family have a telescopic and we don’t really know all the plants and then I showed them the app sky tonight that’s why I think sky tonight is one of the best apps ever..Version: 2.0.1
User ease of useI’ve had this for a while and I’ve lately been using it a lot. And still can’t figure the menu-tools. I ran network and ran several graphics programs with different uses and tools on each and that was easier than yours. An update should address this. Sorry about this poor review. Jack.Version: 1.7.1
RecommendationThis app is amazing because you can look at all the stars. But I do recommend if you could add where are you can hold the phone and look at the stars above your head and that certain area..Version: 1.9.0
Get thisThe app is the best I have used yet and I have a lot of them. Really user friendly and good information.Version: 1.2.2
A great companion to star walk!I’ve been a longtime user of Star Walk and I just love the focus on the calendar of object of sky tonight! I just have one question: what do the red dots represent in the calendar? Sometimes there’s one, two, three or none?.Version: 1.2.1
Beautiful space phenomenon on a galactic scaleReally beautiful space phenomenon on a galactic scale.Version: 1.2.2
The Beautiful SkyI love this app, if you’re a star gazer, you’ll love this app with the info provided, I live in the North, I don’t like the deep freeze our seasons provide us with, but I spend a lot of time by my fire gazing at the stars, very cool App!.Version: 1.2.2
J’ignore les fonctionsJ’aime Ça mais ce sont des infos que je comprends très bien! Merci.Version: 2.0.3

A great learning toolI have found that this app is very helpful for me to get a good sense of what I see in the outer space. Thank you whoever is responsible for this app..Version: 1.8.0
CoolIt is so realistic the only downside is that you have to pay for most of the planets.Version: 1.9.0

Out of This World.Downloaded recently and am still getting used to the settings , can’t find my Northward location to be able to point skyward and find what it is that I’m pointing at . Has a lot of great features to learn about and I’m sure anyone interested in the solar system would be amazed by this app. 🔭.Version: 1.7.1

Planet Alignment 2022Hello, I really love your app! I just have one question; Why is the planet alignment in June 24 not in the event calendar? I found your article about it, but not the event telling me the specific time. I would love to know the reason. Please help me. Thank you!.Version: 1.4.1
AWESOMEThis is the BEST stargazing app I’ve ever seen! Thank you so much for making this app. Wow!.Version: 1.3.0
Amazing new app! ✨Great looking new app! Visuals, sounds, accuracy & info are stunning. It would be equally nice to see options for upcoming IOS 15 screen widgets! The Star Walk 2 widgets are great, but more current ones for your new app would be awesome. Thanks!.Version: 1.2.2
