Junkman is the most powerful SMS filtering app for iOS. It can classify incoming messages as normal, junk, transaction or promotion. It will not classify old messages. It works completely locally on your device without the need for any network connectivity. It is written to filter all kinds of unwanted text messages, including betting, political, scam messages and company advertisements.
Junkman primarily uses a state-of-the-art machine learning algorithm called Smart Filter, that is trained with thousands of messages in English and Turkish languages. This results in an artificial intelligence which can classify the message contents. The Smart Filter can differentiate between normal (conversations etc.), transaction (bank OTP messages, shipping information, doctor appointments, etc.) and junk (promotional, gambling, unsolicited, spam etc.) messages instantly. It treats all promotion messages as junk.
Junkman also has a spam and threat database with special filters to detect and filter the most invasive junk messages without the need for the Smart Filter.
In case you would like to override the classification of the automated filters, you can add rules to one of the Safe, Junk, Transaction and Promotion lists in the app.
If you don't receive English or Turkish messages, and you only receive messages in other languages, you can disable the Smart Filter completely and manage messages using the rule lists.
The rule lists let you write much more powerful rules than most of the competing apps. They can work on both the sender or the content of a message and they accept any input including regular expressions (Regex). They are also simpler to manage than other apps.
If you think the Smart Filter did not classify one or more messages correctly, you can report them from the Messages app (iPhone only) for review. The more wrong classifications you report, the better the Smart Filter gets!

Just what I was looking for!Since experiencing a text bombing incident a few years ago, I have constantly dealt with unwanted junk messages. Shortly after that happened, Google/Android made improvements to their messaging app to filter out these messages. It was quite effective, and I received very few junk messages. Fast forward to this year, and I switched to an iPhone. Unfortunately, Apple's Messages app does not filter out these messages. I was receiving numerous junk messages every hour, which became quite bothersome. I tried a few apps, but they were not effective. Fortunately, I found Junkman, which has fulfilled my expectations. It successfully filters out the junk messages, and whenever it mistakenly filters something important, I simply create a filter for it. The regex functionality is particularly useful for handling more complex scenarios. I even sent a few dollars to the developer because I would have willingly paid for this app..Version: 8.2
Just what I wantedThus far I have been using Junkman solely to silence SMS that contain words that I specify. These include ads using the name of someone whose phone was assigned my number in the past; political solicitations; and more. The app I was using for this previously stopped working. But Junkman has performed the task flawlessly. And it is more versatile, e.g. allowing you to specify whether the rule you create requires a partial match or an exact match. One caution is that if something seems like it’s not working, be sure you have checked every setting. (Without getting too specific, there were cases where I thought that disabling option “A” automatically disabled seemingly-related option “B,” but it didn’t.) They’ve been ruthlessly soliciting for money, spamming numerous times almost every day, including on Sunday’s. JunkI have been having problems for six months people texting me 50 times and one day all this stuff about I have malware I have this I have that spam and I couldn’t stop it. I kept blocking them I put this on last night and it has blocked every one of them and has three contained, I’m very impressed I didn’t have to wake up to 50 text messages.Version: 8.2
Excellent app but…Excellent app but wish it could delete the sms spam instead of just classify it. Would be nice to have two profiles: 1 to filter and one to delete. The fact that I’m typing this shows how good it is but some sms is so clearly from idiots and needs to be deleted. Why doesn’t apple want to do this themselves?!?! Excellent filter that JUST WORKSI’ve had Junkman for about a month now and it really was a godsend. I’ve used Hiya and other “SMS Filtering” apps but then still get all the clickbait spam messages coming through 2-3x a day. It wasn’t until Junkman that those messages just got buried. Really works!!I was getting junk/inappropriate texts from email addresses and it was SO upsetting - this app really works to filter them out!
