Whether that be from movies, writing, social engagement, finances. The things I thought I knew are carefully nudged in the right direction. And if that is all that is gained from books that would be enough. Fortunately, it’s not since these quick analysis offer knowledge about things that aren’t confirming but entirely new strings of information. If you are someone who wants to improve your thought life, mental acuity, or health in any other area, we become what we read. As we think so we are. Great concept!Unfortunately, my experience with the app hasn’t been ideal. It frequently crashes after each chapter, and initially, it attempted to charge me twice. I managed to resolve this by logging out and restarting the app, but the most frustrating issue is the recurring blank screen when it crashes. That said, the app is absolutely worth the hassle. A Disappointing Experience for Serious LearnersI purchased the full year of Wiser hoping it would become a valuable tool for learning and capturing insights from books. Unfortunately, my experience has been underwhelming and disappointing. While Wiser does a good job of reading book summaries aloud, that’s essentially all it offers — just passive listening. There is no way to interact with the content: no highlighting key points, no saving insights into a notes app, no option to share or send clips to others, no way to organize or store what resonates with you. It’s simply a one-way delivery of summarized information without giving the user any meaningful control over how they engage with or apply what they’re hearing. I expected more from an app positioned for growth and learning. At the very least, basic features like highlight saving, note exporting, or even sharing options should be included. Without these tools, Wiser feels less like a smart learning companion and more like just another audio summary service — but without the flexibility or functionality that serious learners need. Overall, Wiser left me disappointed. Great for those with AuDHD or ADHD to use as well as any personJust downloaded today and paid for a year subscription. I completed my first book on there called atomic habits and it was amazing. I could listen to it while I was doing my morning chores and helping my children get ready for the day. It’s great. You can fit in a little time each day while doing other things. Also price wise each book even if you buy books on discount or second hand for a couple dollars and read one a day would be least $700+ whereas this you can listen to a book a day and get 365+ books for less than $60 for the year. Fast InformationWhen this app was first released, I was hesitant to commit due to the limited library and the subscription price at the time. However, with the recent expansion of the content library and a more reasonable monthly rate, I decided to give it a try—and I’m glad I did. Great Library to have, but little things to fix.It gets a 3 on my part. Great app to have if you want a book library but as soon as I want to choose another book to listen to, it plays the same one all over again and have to close down the app and re-open it all over again. Also when I finish the book and want to listen to it all over again it always starts off from the last chapter and when I try to go back by skipping the chapter it brings up the rating of the app kinda frustrating. Greatest app ever.When it comes to ascertaining knowledge in a quick time period. This is probably the most optimal way to do it. I love audio books and regular books but sometimes I have time for neither and hardly have the chance to get around to starting new ones but this app is super cheap and gives you the best summaries of your favorite books and you can move to a new book in as short as 15 mins. Boring/adsI am finding the first couple of chapters boring without any real new information . I got an ad after the first chapter which was like 3-5 minutes and I couldn’t get rid of it. Seems to have a bug with the appI just got the app and so far it was good but during the reading the app froze making my screen go black. Once I closed the app and refreshed it everything seemed fine at first. Then when I click to continue reading or listening it just kicks me out of the app not allowing me to continue. Short Summaries, Big ImpactI really enjoy the app and all the book reviews I just wish the “continue listening” section would be fixed. Sometimes the book starts from the beginning and when you finish it, it stays in that section as opposed to being marked as read. Book summariesWell my experience with this app has not been the greatest. I have been using ever day for approximately two weeks. Good titles but some are not available notice a big selection not available this morning. If I don’t complete a book weather I leave it running in the background or if I close it. Lots of bugsI was in high hopes of learning so much and listening to great books with this app. I almost feel like it’s a kid running it and Kudos to him/her, but if not, shame of the developer for selling this. The app works sometimes and sometimes it does not. Also, some of the summaries of these books do not make sense. It makes me wonder if they are using AI for the whole app, from summarizing to the voice. Further, I have contacted them numerous times regarding bugs, the first time they answered but after that it was pure silence. Finally, I asked for my money back, and still silence. I would never give this app another chance. I have a whole year with this app, and $90, all to waste. I so wished this worked well, I so wish I could have gotten a lot out of it. What are some of the bugs? It doesn’t play the voice but you can read it, defeats the purpose. Sometimes when it plays the voice it stays stuck on one place replaying that one second segment and even if you close the app, it still is stuck for days. Defeats the purpose. Not worth itI have been trying to figure out how to cancel this for months and I’m extremely dissatisfied with the lack of communication in how to do that. I have sent emails and tried the website since it wasn’t shown in my subscriptions as an active subscription even though it was bought in the App Store and continued to get charged for two pay period months (so six months total) for a service not even on my phone anymore. Tried to like it…I really like the idea of Wiser, but wow. Tried to sign up via Apple with hide my email and got an internal server error. Probably because they want your real email to sell your data. Then I tried to skip signup just to see if this app was even worth the trouble, and immediately got hit with signup screens without even simply seeing what the app looked like. Then because OF COURSE I’m not going to pay them without even getting to see what the screens or content looks like, I edited the trial signup pop up. AND THEN, this dark pattern nag screen pops up offering me a lower price BUT JUST FOR TWO MINUTES with a little fake ticking clock. When I finally got out of the “but wait there’s more” sales screens, I find out they actually charge like $5 a piece for these book summaries (might as well just buy the book) and only give you one “free” one a day (that you’re still paying like $50 a year for). I want a refund. Clunky app and custom serviceThe app/service accepted my yearly premium payment and functioned for maybe a week. After that it’s been a nightmare and still a nightmare! Every morning I am denied access or none of the books will load. I have been reaching out to customer support and it seems like all I’m getting is an automated response loop. If the app denies access, I would reset my password. Then I’m allowed in my account via app where I would need to restore my purchase. After that none of the books will load and play. Go to manage subscription and it routes me to the website where every time I try to login I am given an error message. Emailed customer support and at first I’m told to reset my password which I’ve already done. Then at 1:30am I receive another email from a different product support personnel telling me that they have no record of me purchasing their subscription and requested my userID, date of purchase, exact amount, last four digits of the card I used. I provided them screenshots of the receipt email from time of purchase, a screenshot of my banking records, and a copy of my userID. I am here now because I have no other option. I’m frustrated and tired of wasting my time, energy, and money. First RED FLAG: I paid for 3 months, but they only credited me for 1. Devil and DetailsThis may be an obvious insight… For some of the books that I have read on here and now are reviewing summaries, it has become clear to me that being brief means also sometimes being selective as there is no way to capture the entirety of the writing. This can lead some readers of some books to conclude very limited, understandings or insight or ultimate takeaways and conclusions. For some titles, this may not be a big deal or have that much impact. However, certain books certain subjects certain titles are still very much worth reading a book in its entirety, and not leaving it up to a selective word summary of topic. At first, the app seemed like a great audiobook platform, so I downloaded it and started the free trial.
