(By the way, I’m an 11 year old) I haven’t even had this game for a month and I absolutely love it so much!!! If you want to buy this game, I highly recommend it. Parents, what you need to know is that there is some very unrealistic blood when fighting special enemies called “elite” enemies. There is also a part where (spoilers) gets killed and has some blood on the floor. It took me a minute to notice. Also, this game is kinda violent. There are three categories for the items you will use, brutality, tactics, and survival. I won’t say much ( so you can actually enjoy the game ) , but the “brutality” category may have parents not liking that. I am not too far in the game (I think) so I don’t know everything. Also, some parents might not like this, the main character is a prisoner in an unjust kingdom who got beheaded. Hence the name I don’t usually see in any dialogue/ text, “the beheaded”. Again, this is an unjust kingdom that seems very strict. There are a couple references to death like how one creature who gives you “power ups” basically, somehow does something (I’m not quite sure) with the dead bodies you have. The way he does this is that he somehow comes back to life but isn’t exactly a zombie. I don’t know how, but I’ll probably figure out. Sorry for the long review. Otherwise, GREAT GAME THAT I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I love this game. Even though you constantly die, it’s still really fun. The gameplay is simple, and you feel really cool taking out monsters. If the things I listed above are okay for your child to handle, then please give this game a whirl.
This is the the type of game that I thought that I wouldn’t like. Weird small indie games, I’m more of an action-packed AAA fan, yet 5 minutes in I was entranced by the sheer depth of this game. One of my favorite games of all-time being Returnal, a rogue-like. I had no idea that this game was a rogue-like. I’ve found myself downloading this game once I got my backbone and luckily I had Arcade + so this was a no brainer. The combat is fluid, fun, and scratches the satisfaction itch in the back of my head. The customization and individuality that comes with the settings and character skins is truly impressive for a mobile game. Hats off to the developers they’ve opened my mind to start venturing out of my comfort zone. This type of genre can be truly grueling and gruesome to some, at times frustrating. But the fact that you have to work tirelessly towards a goal and true finish line is the reason most of us play games. Fixating on trying to unlock a certain upgrade will be the best and worst time in this sort of genre, but Dead Cells makes it remarkably welcoming with all of ifs pixelated glory. The snappy movement and battle is pure work of art and would be respected and admired from those of us that are hardcore to casual gamers. Definitely made it to my recommendation list if you enjoy handheld gaming.
If you’re thinking about trying this game, use this review as a sign from god it was a mistake to even have to consider before getting it. I’ve been addicted to this game for a few months now and I can’t stop playing it. Im currently on the expert difficulty (3bc) and I’ve been having the time of my life. The game runs really good too. I haven’t actually noticed a singular Issue besides every now and then the game will for some reason act like you don’t have any progress in the game until you go in to a run where it all comes back, but that’s not really a problem once you realize you didn’t actually lose your save. The artstyle is also beautiful especially in areas like the Ramparts, Cavern, Undying Shores, Fractured shrines, and the Throne Room. Amazing game I spend hours every day playing this. TLDR: If you have apple arcade, get this game, if you have more than 5 dollars to your name, get this game. Close to no bugs, no ads, the DLC is MORE than worth it, and the gameplay loop rarely ever gets tiring. 10/10 I would rate it 6 stars if i could
This game is amazing. It’s a mix of platforming and fighting, and requires a lot of strategy and perseverance to beat. Every time you die, you basically wipe your save file, losing all weapons, money, and most other enhancements, and dying becomes a learning experience that forces you to learn from your mistakes. Monsters don’t hurt you if you touch them, only if they land a hit, giving you chances to do tons of damage without ever getting hit, and the numerous weapons vary immensely in speed, damage, and special abilities, allowing you to experiment and find a fighting style you enjoy destroying the various monsters with. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a challenge, is looking for a game that requires a long time to beat (think at least a year or two), and/or likes fast paced gameplay. If you’re someone that tends to rage quit or doesn’t do well with games that severely punish mistakes then you won’t enjoy this game. (Edit: beware the reverse burglar)
Dead Cells itself is absolute a 5 star game. 10/10. It’s an amazing game and endlessly fun. My brand new backbone controller seems to be having some issues with this game only. The menu buttons do not work for pausing the game or pulling up the map. I tried my backbone controller with other games and the menu buttons work fine. The buttons also work fine when testing them in the backbone app. So the issue seems to be with this game only. The pause menu and map do come up when they’re mapped to the d-pad. But for me and this game, I’d rather use the d-pad for movement. When I try to map the pause menu and map to the menu buttons, they don’t register. It’s like I’m not pressing any buttons at all. This issue doesn’t happen when I use my dualsense controller. It seems to be the backbone only. Again, I just want to say this game is so much fun and I absolutely love it. Here’s to hoping a patch comes soon to fix the backbone issue 😁

I don’t even know where to begin with this game. It’s just all around amazing. The style of animation fits the game so well! I play with a controller and haven’t played touch screen much but when I do I tweak the settings just a tiny bit but other than my one tweak the touch screen controls are easy to pick up. On controller though, this game is on another level. The controller makes this game 1,000 times better. Idk if this is true but a lot of people have been saying this game is on console so maybe that’s why I’m not sure though. This game is not for people who rage easily. I rage easily but it’s not enough for me to quite. This game is the perfect amount of skill and puzzle. Overall a great game and I would recommend this game to everyone. If you already have Apple Arcade this game is definitely worth it. Edit: this game was on console and PC first but all my points still stand.
Definitely top 3 games in all of Apple Arcade. Apple’s line up is 90% awful but this is definitely a gem. (Probably bc it was its own game way before a deal with apple, like every other good game they have). I have absolutely fallen in love with this game. For some reason I’ve never been attracted to new games that use the 8bit style. I love the ones from childhood but just never tried getting into “low graphic” games, I just always assumed I wouldn’t get into the lore as much or there wouldn’t be that much of a story (like Mario, classic just bland story), until this game and I’m really glad I did. It’s definitely made me open to playing a lot more games of this style bc this game is awesome. A little repetitive but in a way that still feels fresh each time. Definitely an awesome game. And I’m not kidding, I bought a controller for an iPhone just to play this game easier, but it’s 1000% doable without one lol
Ok so I love it 20. Minutes of playing and it becomes incredibly easy it gives me lots of health I have 1,000 An elite bow that does 768DPS an assign dagger with 1,006DPS and and well two permanent artifacts and it’s super easy so far I have only died once and killed a lot of enemies sadly I don’t like that I have to speed run to get to some doors at least I think it’s a dungeon crawler feels pretty similar wait wait I just found out your supposed to die lol so if I have op gear if I die I’ll get better faster and more powerful so that’s it I would have gone on for months because I would have never died than goodness I read another review :edit ok so well I’m doing new castlevania update bro I had op weapons and 5k health so I have what almost 1k health left get one shot by a trap a trap and I only got too beat two bosses that one guarding the black bridge and death 2 times both of them
This is the best game and it can challenge you when you beat the boss then you get a new boss to fight , and this game is so fun to play on Xbox and phone, and I know we got maps to go to but I seen all of it by beating the final boss and I couldn’t see what you said so I hop you said something nice or something else , and I hop this get to you the creators of dead cells and one last thing we need new maps and bosses probably something like a snow island or something like prehistoric island under inside the earth or under the Island of the person we are playing as or we go to sea to find a new enemy or boss to but then something from the sea breaks the boat that we were in , and then we wake up to a strange lsland that looks old and then you hear a terrifying sound from the lsland and (Ty for making this game)
Honestly, I am not a huge fan of these kinds of games, but I absolutely love it! I struggle to put it down! it is a very intense game with a lot of fast pace action that makes it fun. If I had ONE bad thing to say is that the controls are absolute garbage. Half the time I’m holding up, but some how he jumps down. Some of the time I am trying to run up the wall but he decides to fall down instead. It’s really frustrating when the garbage controls make you run into damage. It’s extremely difficult to explain without giving away spoilers. I can’t earn some of the achievements because of the horrible controls. I can honestly say that because of the trash control it’s really ruining the game for me. Also, the developer response of “play with a controller” is garbage. I’m sorry, but not everyone wants to tote around a $100+ controller and that shouldn’t be a solution TO A MOBILE GAME.
Not a fan of touch screen controls for anything more than the interaction flappy bird might have, so can not speak to the experience of using because with a bt ps4 controller this game is a pure delight. I love accessibility options it provides so my young son enjoys, with some better sense of accomplishment then normally has over playing games. It would be nice if when real life interferes there could be a save state option for really great runs. I always start a continue as freshly dead. Knowing I’ll lose the run if I put game down, I only try to play with an open window of availability and lament not being able to pick up and down for short bursts out of fear of wasted time syndrome. I love this game I wish I could dock with a tv and play on bigger screen like a Nintendo switch
This is one of the most amazing games I have ever played. It is just as good with a controller or touch, it’s gameplay is amazing and the story is expansive. The only issue I have with this game is that every time you die, you completely restart with the map changed to something different every time, along with all your cells, money (without the moneybag upgrade), and weapons all reset. I think this feature is generally alright although I think it would be beneficial if the player would spawn back in with at least some cells back, especially since it’s frustrating when you die and you see the “106 cells lost” text. Other than that this game is amazing and you should keep up the good work! But please, please, please add multiplayer to this game. I know like that would be an amazing feature to see in the future of this game’s development.
[Spoilers probably] From the weapons to the enemies, this game allows for so much customization to your play-style. You could go head on with your sword and a shield or be a ranged bow's man with a bow and a shield (You don’t need to always use a sword). Even finding new weapons is fun since you incorporate them into your combos. Ex enemies are much harder versions compared to their weaker counterparts and require strategies to be dealt with. On an Ex shielder, I used the freezing spell combined with my melee weapon to keep them frozen so they’re unable to attack. Then we get into mutations and the game opens up even further. Cheating your own death, healing a bit of hp per kill making you look like you’re going on a genocide, and reducing skill cooldowns by crits this game loves to make you play other ways than just your normal style. Some weapons. Have conditions for when they’ll 100% of the time critical hit. Combing that with reducing skill CD on crit makes ice bombs 18 second cooldown look like 9 seconds. If you’ve read all of this and still aren’t swayed to try it, please try it you’ll find yourself loving the gameplay. Thank you to the Dead Cells team for making this golden game. Can’t wait to see what else you guys make.
It’s a huge win that this classic has hit Apple Arcade, I really love this game and everything they’ve done with it. It’s stylized as a 16-bit metroidvania action-platformer that has so many hidden secrets and worlds to explore, with the difficulty really cranking up but not in a fully “punishing” way. Everything is still kept very fun even as the challenges grow in difficulty. One main disappointment for me with this version on Apple Arcade is that it’s ported across so many devices but not the Mac. I really hope that the developers can work it in the plans to bring it to the Mac like other games on Apple Arcade so that we can truly play it anywhere on any device. Especially because this game is such a winner that I would love for it to reach more players and putting it on the Mac would do just that.
So before saying anything, I’ve paired an 8bitdo controller with my new IOS and this game made me do it. It was fun with my thumbs for a while. Got a level or two. But then suddenly, just like Dark Souls, it takes your confidence and gives it a swirlie like a high school bully. As I floundered in that horrid abyss, I realized I have a controller and can take back my role as a gamer that sometimes wins. That’s still not the case but excited to keep trying. Highly recommend using some bluetooth controller except a wiimote, only the chosen one can wield her. The game is hard but fun. If you like metroidmania type games and the souls type games this hits the spot. As a fan of hollow knight and guacamelee it not only reflects them but pays homage while still being unique. Happy to have a chance to try this out with my apple arcade trial
Mind my rant (i do actually give my review after it) I had played this game for maybe 2-3 days without ever thinking pf using a controller for it the thought never crossed my mind but while playing it one day i had thought this game is probably so much better with a controller and i was right! The mobile ui is great and all but you really need auto hit enabled if you’re playing that way but this game is a million times more optimal with a controller wether you use a dualshock controller or one of the ones you attach to your phone you NEED to play with a controller. On another note the gameplay itself is amazing 10/10 story combat is amazing bosses are just difficult enough that you wont throw your phone at a wall and there are so many good easter eggs and secrets
As a roguelike with surprisingly fluid movement for touchscreen controls, I find this game super fun and a perfect fit for mobile! The controls are easy to get down, the levels are fun to navigate, and there are a ton of amazing quality of life touches such as letting you lock items you dislike from the item pool or changing what type of food your character finds, which is nice for variety or for players who may be uncomfortable with certain foods. As for my complaints, the game pauses any music you have playing, which is unfortunate, and I feel like the joystick area could be a bit bigger to offer functions like climbing and multi-directional weapons like the nail to have a bit more wiggle room. Overall I’ve been loving Dead Cells, and it’ll definitely be my go-to app for when I’d like a quick distraction.
Even without a controller the game is still plenty easy to play but with a controller you definitely have more advantage. This is the only game on iPhone arcade that’s worth buying by itself. Id buy this on console but I love having this game on the go with me at this point (plus all the hours I’ve sunk in playing it on mobile) All of the content is here. You are literally playing the full game that would be no different on console. Once Binding of Isaac has its full game with all dlcs made for iPhone then this game will become number 2 but I had no problems purchasing this game. I never buy games for mobile but this one is worth every cent. (Playing with iPhone 14 pro max in case you were wondering. Plays great!)
I got this game January of this year, and oh my god, I thought I would be slightly interested before I got it, but this was by far more than I expected! This was my first introduction to the rogue-lite genre, personally coming from the Metroidvania genre, and it was perfect! The movement is super fluid for mobile controls, and lets you play however you want, fast and hard hitting, being far away and playing it safe, or you smite everything in your path, but your super slow(unless you use the baseball bat😂) This is by far the best game on Apple Arcade, its very much replay-able in the way that the mindless slaughter with hints of storyline make you invested Would very much recommend this masterpiece of a game
Was always scrolling through app store for a new game which could be completed fast or could also take time if you really wanna get through something. Something chill but also which gets quite challenging later. Im still not expert in this game but liked the overall concept.. brings back the small handheld console feeling with just right amount of graphics. Feels light on mobile. Plays just as good on iPhone xs max as it plays on iphone 14pro. Also using controller just makes the game next level. I use backbone controller for this game and turned out very very well. I would say one of the hits from Arcade. Thanks for making the game available through arcade!
I played the game originally on the PS5 and got up to the 4th boss cell before taking a really long break from it. I just found out that this game was free on Apple arcade and decided to give it a try. I have to say they really made the game much more fun with the inclusion of all the DLCs for free (including the latest Castlevania one!) and the assist mode options where you can now retry from the beginning of the stage if you die along with adjust how much damage you take, etc, really helps with the replay experience as I didn't really want to start from complete scratch. Also, the assist will really help with anyone new to platformers and want to just experience how fun this game is!
I love this game. I play it quite a bit (maybe too much😅) but still haven’t scratched the surface of amazing content the game has to offer. It’s hard but progress feels better the harder it is to achieve. The gameplay loop literally being a loop is a unique idea that makes this game stand out from any other like it. One criticism, since I started playing on Nintendo switch and switched to mobile, is that it is impossible to play with your progress on different devices or sync up the DLCs you buy to another platform. Maybe this could be fixed by giving all players an account so they can sync purchases. It also has infinite replayability. Literally!
It has a ton of attention to detail, it doesn't have the "war of attrition" feel a lot of rogue like dungeon crawlers have as it has a natural and well implemented way to both avoid damage and restore health, it also has the wonderful ability to fine tune parts of difficulty like time to parry attacks, enemy health OR damage, attack warnings, how much of the map is revealed(or if you want it to be, entirely available) etc. overall it has a wonderful attention to detail that I can only real capture fragment of through the more meaningful things mentioned above, if you like roguelike dungoen crawlers, play it, however I would suggest a controller like a ps4 controller, much better gameplay.
I was skeptical this would feel good with touch controls, but it’s the best this kind of game has felt to me. I played this game originally on the Switch, but the port to iOS is quite good! The ability to adjust difficulty on a granular level to make the game feel fun is a nice touch, but even with touch controls I suspect most people won’t need it if they enjoy this kind of game already. I haven’t bought a controller for my phone, but I keep thinking about it. This game doesn’t need it, but I can just imagine it being that little bit easier and more enjoyable to play with physical controls, especially a d-pad for movement.
This is a game that reminds you why you play games… fun. The developers have distilled a blend of challenge, satisfaction, and joy in Dead Cells. I cannot do it justice in mere words, just play it. I must warn that the game has a steep learning curve for those that aren’t ”one” with their preferred gaming peripheral. That said, I recommend resetting progress after a dozen deaths or so to catch some of the story elements that are easily missed. If you wait too long you won’t want to lose your collection of equipment and skills. You could also restart on another gaming platform if you just can’t bring yourself to do it.
Please add an option to fully reset the touch control joystick's position every time you release your thumb! Currently, if you let go of your left thumb, then place it back on the screen just a bit left of where it used to be, the game will make your character run left. (If you touch significantly further left or right than it was on release, the game will move & center the joystick correctly, as you'd expect. It's small deviations that act weird.) This makes things like challenge runes really frustrating. 5/5 on controller though, great game.
Seriously, I feel like this game deserves to be on the Top 100 games ever made and I’ve been on the scene since Pong. It can be ridiculously difficult at times, but getting just the right drops you’ve managed to unlock can make one of your numerous runs feel almost like cheating. If you like platformers, and have ever played some of the old school Metroid/Castlevania kind of games, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Give this a try and don’t despair at the difficulty at first. It gets manageable, I promise.
Uhm I started experiencing audio bugs the game play remained fine and other then the Erie Audio issues I was able to keep playing id like to send you guys a clip I was able so screen record my gameplay but everything was fine until I got to fractured shrines then my game started making all these weird noises but other then that I love your game and I’m sure just closing and reopening the app will resolve this issue still got the issue in the first place and besides I’d rather let the devs know so they can fix it great game 10/10 especially for a mobile game
I really love this game. I literally play all the time but there’s some things I wish you would guys would fix. first of all, really hate how you die and don’t get your stuff back and you don’t have a response point so that’s really annoying and also does this game really have an end to it because I’ve been playing for like months and I still haven’t gotten to the end but if there is, please let me know. but overall, this game is really good. I recommend playing it for the people who haven’t played it yet.
I don’t normally like “die and repeat” games, but this one is done in a really creative way that allows you to unfold a story and progress your character as you go. I’ve been enjoying this game in all my free time for the past couple weeks. Game mechanics are straightforward and easy to learn. Some of the controls took me a little getting used to since it didn’t quite follow standard onscreen controller layout and spacing. But it didn’t take me long to get used to it. There is one issue where the character will go up when you’re clearly moving down and things like that, but it’s rare enough and manageable to not be a major issue (though I hope it gets fixed). Artwork, storyline, etc are all wonderful. I have no complaints. Warning: The “die and continue” part of the game is done so seamlessly that you’ll want to just keep playing forever. Remember to take breaks and go to sleep on time!
This game has been my number one priority for the past few days and it has not disappointed me, the combat is simple yet fun, the exploration is so vast yet never too repetitive and there seems to always be more to find, explore, or defeat. This game definitely makes buying Apple Arcade worth it. I also love the little hand gesture the explorer makes during dialogue and the commentary the explorer makes when discovering an odd object. I have recommended Dead Cells to family and friends and they have all had a great time playing. Thanks for the good times!
I adore this game. Each run feels like a blast. But when I look up more about it online, I see that there’s updates that this version just doesn’t have yet. Hopefully they get put in soon. Edit: thanks for actually responding! I am ready to wait however long, mainly cause what I’ve seen seems worth the wait! As an extra thing just in case, I think one item might be glitched? I say that cause I’ve tried in normal mode and custom mode to get the bounces needed for the knight skin and haven’t been able to get it.
LOVE IT SM WHATTTTT I SEE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT IT ALL THE TIME. PERFECT PLATFORMER WITH A W STORY WHERE A PARASITE RESURRECTS A PRISONERS CORPSE AND YOU SURVIVE AND EXPLORE THE UNFORGIVING WORLDS OF THE PRISON (garden, courtyard, prisoner quarters, sewer, Dracula castle, outskirts, etc.) THE LORE IS SO COOL AND ITS EASY TO PICK UP THE GAME BUT PROGRESSING IS A CHALENGE THAT YOU HAVE TO FACE AND OVERCOME, AND IT FEELS REWARDING. fast paced gameplay and having to climb back up after death teaches persistence and patience. very inversive, lot of variety, W character designs: basically the best most unique and complete platformer and fantasy story game that has mountains of content you can explore without feeling repetitive. NOT FOR RAGEQUITTERS THE CRASHOUT ENERGY IS CRAZY. VERY ANGERING BUT YOU CAN ENABLE ASSIST MODE AND MAKE IT MORE FORGIVING
If you learn you get powerful to kill those monsters but be careful if it’s a powerful boss or monsters that use a thing to take a lot of 1000 damage if you are taking a lot of damage you have be safe to drink a potion and if you open a skull chest or break a gold door you will get 10 skull head and if you get hit and you get killed by monsters that’s not safe you have to watch out and throw a throwing thing at the monster so we can save curse so you can be safe or this game available on PlayStation
I’ve picked up this game here and there over the years, but with it being on iOS makes it that much more accessible and with controller support it feels fantastic to play on mobile! Playing this game on my iPhone 12 Pro using a PS4 controller with a phone mount. Game runs very well with only small slow downs when entering new zones (hardware limitation possibly), but overall, it runs great and is a nice way to be able to play this fantastic game! —— Just got a backbone controller and it works wonderfully with the game
I picked up the game on Nintendo switch during the recent game trials for switch online members and had a lot of fun playing it there and I’m happy to see it’s available on Apple Arcade as well so even when I have to leave my switch I can play it anywhere I want. I’ve had a bit of a struggle with each run I do but I know each time I start over there’s always something new to try with each reset. It’s cause of this I find myself going back to the game to play it again and I don’t regret it.
Arguably one of the best roguelikes out there. This game is so well polished and balanced. I got it on steam for PC back before the first DLC. To have an Apple Arcade Edition with all the DLC’s drop…Christmas came early this year. Everybody please press F to pay respect for all my responsibilities that are going into the todo pile and I grind level after level of this absolute masterpiece. My main feedback is that a controller disconnect mid game seems to kill your run. Had to quit and lose my progress. Also I haven’t experimented much with pick up and put down play but I’d like to be able to continue where I left off even if the app is terminated in the background. I don’t want to grind for 20 minutes on a level and get close to the end and loose all that just because I had to stop playing for a few hours. We need more amazing titles like this that are “better with a controller” on Apple Arcade.
I personally love this game the controls are fluid the game play is pretty straight forward and the enemies are versatile. I own this on my iPad, my Nintendo switch and now my phone. This game can be challenging at times but if you’re up for a challenge it’s well worth it. Play through this game and go down different areas to make it to new levels and fight different bosses (skeleton giant is by far the hardest for me) but with the right weapons you can beat them all no matter what lvl you’re playing on with a lot of practice! GET THIS GAME!!
Been playing the game since it came out on Xbox. Not much else to say. You should download it because it’s one of the few “fully released” feeling games for a phone. Glad to see the arcade version is controller compatible vs. the App Store. Most levels or “floors” you go through computer generated to give you a different mapping of the same style of floor. A Myriad of different weapons, mutations (like being able to cheat death only once), and a bunch of different additives to only keep spicing up the game.
I got this game thinking it looked like it would be over complicated, boring and hard. So far, it has been one of my favorite games. I am the type of person who goes, tries a game, gets predicted and then tries another one. This is one of the 5 games that I have kept since I have gotten it. The game itself has exactly what it is described with and much more. There are bonus stories, dozens of weapons and many enemies. This is truly one of my favorite games.
I once was just checking apple arcade for any games that seemed interesting and discovered this. at first it was frustrating dying from not being able to regen, but then as i got more and more upgrades and learned better stategies it turned out to be a very fun game. my only complaint is that it takes a real grind to get the upgrades in the legendary forge. But other than that with all the different weapons and things to collect, I'd say this is a pretty good game worth getting
If I knew what a classic game was, I would think this is it If I had played many other games like this, this would be the best one (I would say it is a coin flip for hollow knight and this) If I was good at gaming I would say this has a lot of areas to explore (I saw a lot of achievements and even with my minimal game time there is still a lot) And if this would be read I would say play it but no one will see it over the 1000 other reviews And if you are reading this in the few reviews the dev picks. GG DEV!
There was one problem I was fighting the servants and was at low health and I was in the final room. I defeated them all but the health bar was still there a little low but still there and it would not let me leave the room. So I had to restart so I have to try again to get the flawless outfit. Please fix this. Other than that absolutely amazing game I had a blast playing and aiming to 100% the game Edit: O got all the achievements on gam center that’s one step closer to 100%
In an age wears so many video games are being pumped out by the dozen. It is a wonderful thing to be able to play a game that can capture attention with the graphic style and the variety of opportunities to destroy enemies and find new and interesting things. The one thing that it capitalizes on is its variety and newness every time you play it. Opening up new weapons and features is part of the great experience in playing this game besides destroying all the nasty creatures.
Réaliste ,action et humour
All my eye cells are now dead cells
10/10 game
This game was already very good on console but playing it on mobile with all the DLCs is so much better and easier, this game is absolutely awesome and is a must try.
Ce jeu est complet et très addictif
But why does hotk have so much health in 4bc. Would highly recommend, is equally as amazing as its console/pc counterpart.
Lots of fun challenges and not to hard to play and figure out! 😁👍🏼
This game has to literally be my favourite mobile game 😆. Finally understanding the game. There is Hotline Miami references (skins, combo bat) but I would loveee to have a Helmet variant. Helmet is the biker in Hotline Miami. Overall perfect app though, perfect offline game.
It is the most fun game I have ever played and I play it every day I’ve got so far in to the game it’s not even funny I love the game and with all the dlc it’s so fun thanks for making the game have a good day
I cant load in my game. I am trying to play the game but it keeps kicking me out.😢
I’m just into the beginning and I love it already
This is great! However there is a bug wings of crow that if you save your game or enter a boss cell room the effect becomes permanent and can get annoying. Other than that great job!
I love the art style and the rouge like gameplay of dead cells and all the achievements
This game was amazing I got all the boss cells. If people think the game is to hard it is but if you want to play it you can turn down the difficulty. This game was 10/10 for me this game is a master peace. I hope this will help you guys play turn down the difficulty in setting if it’s to hard for you
This game is so damn good on IOS it plays so smooth specially when developers add Uncap fps option! Thank you so much devs. Pls add Magic Keyboard supporting. I mostly play the game on my ipad and i wonder playing it with Magic Keyboard is so much fun and easier.
Great game but please just let me listen to my own music while playing.
The graphics bleed nostalgia, the gameplay is incredibly smooth, and the story is amazing
Although the level before the collector boss is a bit hard
If i could give it past 5 star I would 👍
Mechanics 5/5, graphics 5/5, control binding 5/5, difficulty 5/10 — you like rogue type games pick this game up along side it’s DLCs. If you’re on the fence of “yes/no” don’t buy you’ll just be staring at a “game over” screen 😈☠️
What more can I say
Very fun
One of the best roguelike metroidvania style games out there with no microtransactions and rewarding play progression. The game is harder to play and master on a touch screen, but that’s where the gitgud aspect of the game pushes you to improve dexterity and timing
Its very hard but its fun when you kill alot of enemies
This has been whole heartedly the best rouge like ive played and has helped me through a lot of tough days and pray for more from you guys
Just don’t die.
Слишком мелкие кнопки атак и способностей и нету возможности заделать их больше
The game itself is great… it’s Dead Cells with all the DLCs, so what’s not to love? My main gripe is lack of cloud saves, which seems a pretty glaring omission. I’d like to play on my Apple TV while at home and on my iPhone on the go, but without the ability of sync’ing progress across devices, it is a no-go.
Fire…
Fun really fun hard though when you die and lose all your cells
Can’t stop playing this game!
This game started off so awesome and when I realized that it was an rpg I was hooked.I would highly recommend this game,it is a great offline game to play. It is also a really good game to play on controller.
HOWEVER I play on Apple TV through arcade and the save is so terribly disappointing. It’s deleted about 7 times and I’ve given up playing at this point. I’ll try the iPhone version and see how it goes.
Cinda hard
This game it just so good and Im so happy that I didn’t pay 12$
Great game super fun !!
Just started playing this today, it is amazing. Definitely a got to play game. It’s fast paced, depending on the player. But for the average player it is very fast pace. I also love how it is filled with Easter eggs from other games.
Finally a game with substance and guts.
I finish the game, I killed the queen. That was insane
I like the reset style gameplay with the varied levels, tons of fun! Thanks devs
Amazing game to notch quality nothing bad to say i think this game is amazing all around and motion twin did a great job of porting it to mobile and it retained the same feel as it does on console (I’ve played both) the story is great and the gamplay is better assist mode is well done and polished. Just a great game would recommend it
This is one of the few games on the App Store with any substance and actually handles surprisingly well for a mobile game
5⭐️
Love the game. Just starting getting the boss cells - however i have been running into a minor issue with the controller rebinding setting. Each button function (Jump, attack, etc) shows a question mark icon instead of a button (before AND when i try to rebind it). It’s almost like the game doesnt recognize the buttons on my controller. I tried putting my controller into X-input, but got the same result. Its not a huge issue, although i would prefer to rebind some buttons to my liking since i disagree with some of the defaults. However its impossible to rebind the buttons when they are just labelled as question mark icons. Thanks for the fantastic game, looking forward to the animated series
The control where hard at first, but after 30 minutes I got use to it ! It’s a great game and might play with a controller latter to get a better experience!
This game is a solid 100/10. The story and gameplay are great, the cameos are all over(I.e the pin needle) and the pixel art is AWESOME.Worth your time. Only complaint is the price when buying the normal version, but besides that, really worth it. 😉
Dead Cells+ Negative Reviews and Ratings
Let me start by saying that I don’t regret playing this game, but some aspects of it were off for me. There are occasional cutscenes where you see someone b!eeding out and gvtted quite realistically (I don’t see an issue with it, just with the age rating) there’s a chest casually being svggestive to get you to open it, the protagonist saw a h0le in the wall and gave two thumbs up. Bro (and the devs) knew what they were doing lol. I’d be fine with it if it’s rated 17+. I actually thought the rating was already 17+, some swearing, frequent violence, and occasional suggestive content that isn’t present in 12+ games, but I guess everyone’s just fine with it like(?)🤨 One thing I don’t agree morally with was the protagonist kicking his de4d friend in-order to gain loot. There’s also the term k4mikaze, they included it as certain enemies would explode near the player, although seeing the word out of context seemed inappropriate. Other than that, the game is pretty addicting and I don’t regret playing it. I love the background design, y’all must have spent so long perfecting it! I also love the music. Dead Cells FTW 🙌 (except the age rating)
So let me start off by saying, I really want to play this game. It was a lot of fun. Until it became entirely unplayable. I stated off on an M1 12.9” iPad. Played for maybe an hour then I started to notice Stutter. After about 20 more minutes it was impossible to play. It was like the FPS was capped at 15. I toggled the settings, what little there were for video, no change at all. I moved to my iPhone 15 pro, downloaded the game, had iCloud bring over my data. Played again for almost an hour, maybe a little less. Exact same issue. Massive massive slow down. It almost hurt my eyes to play. Again, toggled settings. Nothing. No change. Neither of my devices were hot or even warm. Both devices were plugged in for the majority of gameplay. Again, can’t stress enough I was having a lot of fun with the game while it worked. But the performance issues absolutely can not be overlooked.
I’ve played Dead Cells before on console and loved it! Still fun here but endlessly more frustrating for the wrong reasons. The touch screen controls do not work well with a game like this. Was recently playing a level where a pillar of fire follows you along with enemies. I was near the end of it when I jumped but the game read it is as me trying to do a down smash. So I fall straight into the fire and die. This isn’t what I expect from one of the best rougelikes out there. Editing my review after a couple more attempts. The Lighthouse is just completely unplayable with this platform. It is so difficult to maneuver around this game with these controls. Adding some chasing obstacles makes it impossible to get through the level. Every playthrough I’ve attempted of the level ends after what are actual perfect runs (I don’t lose ANY health from the enemies or rising fire) get tripped up because the control read my jump as a down smash. Might attempt it another couple times but it seems if I want a game that will actually reward bashing my head against a wall I’ll need to go back to Silksong. Final edit of the review and then I’m deleting the game and ending my Arcade subscription. Attempted it again and make updates to the assist options to make the enemies/obstacles slower to give myself a better chance. I’ve also been using the feature that allows you to go back to the previous save instead of starting all over (normally wouldn’t need that but with the controls being so wonky on iphone, I need it or I’ll never get through the game). Except something seemed to happen when I updated the assist options because it turned the save feature off and is now forcing me to start at the very beginning again. If the game played better on here then that wouldn’t bother me so much. However, the very thought of doing all that again exhausts me rather than entices me to try the challenge again. Play Dead Cells on literally any other device. Great game, just not here.
I started playing this game on steam and it’s awesome, then saw it’s available on Apple Arcade so seemed like a no brainer. It’s unfortunate it will not sync progress over different platforms. But the worst thing on iOS is the controller does not work correctly. The menu and map buttons do absolutely nothing. In the bindings it shows the buttons but when you press them they just don’t work. I have tried both a backbone and razer controller and both have the same issue. I have played the game with GeForce now with the same controllers and those buttons for the menu and map work perfectly. The issue is entirely the iOS version. Another review had the same problem almost a year ago, seems unfortunate the developer doesn’t bother to fix things.
This was originaly a two star review, then I played it more and got better, and realized that this game deserves one star. The controls straight up do not work as intended a solid 30% of the time. There is options to customize the controls yet somehow the movement stick is nearly completely unchangeable. By default, the stick is floating and snaps to the position your finger touches the screen if its not on the pad already. This wouldn't be a problem if the movement pad wasn't the size of a thumb and (as previously mentioned) completely unchangeable. Dead Cells is a good, 5 star game, but as it stand, this is not Dead Cells. The gameplay is almost entirely different and 5x more frustrating because of how bad this port is. Get a controller or something if you *really* want Dead Cells on your phone, but do not download this if you plan to play with your fingers.
Dead Cells is one of the best indie games ever made - but it’s definitely not a game I would recommend getting Apple Arcade for, or even playing on Arcade. The iOS version is regularly a few updates behind the version on other platforms, and still suffers from baffling performance and control issues even when using a controller. It’s fun, if you already pay for Apple Arcade, and it’s the kind of game that we definitely need more of on iOS. I guess it’s more of a critique of Apple Arcade than Dead Cells, but it would be nice if the version we got here was up to par with what we see on Steam and even Switch.
I think the joystick is a really uncomfortable way to play. Its super small and it’s way too easy to accidentally crouch. Could we have the option for buttons instead?
The title said it all
Got soft locked in Dracula's castle cause I didn’t have wall jumps. Other than that good game.
Crappy control Meaningless story Repetitive and boring levels again and again Whoever made deserve to be punished
