You can select specific areas to alter, input your own ideas as reference for the AI to go with, and it also has a few other cool features, plus has given realistic potentials. Renovate AI - Home Design Negative Reviews

A bit annoyedI’ve seen a few designs using this app and decided to give a whirl. First I had a hard time navigating the app, there are many design options but each one such as painting walls or changing the floors requires separate actions that cost points each time you use. Also, I could not locate a how to page that may simplify the best way to navigate the app. AI works OK but often times makes simple errors such as generating different cabinet door styles to a single cabinet. Each regeneration of image also costs points. Fairly expensive to use. I understand part of this may be user error but again, figuring out how to use the tools and the best techniques could not be located. The custom paint tool for walls offers little customization, so staying in the lines of a space is very difficult if not impossible. The AI wall color also adds little adjustments to color (using a pre selected palette) and does not seem to mirror colors well. Example: choosing the darkest black and it turn the walls a dull gray. I chose to not play with all of the functions after basic changes could hardly be made. One part I enjoyed was the AI room design where you could pick and add multiple design styles, still they were almost over designed elements even when adjusting for levels of change. SCAM!I first purchased this app in 2023. I actually purchased it on accident by forgetting to cancel a trial so I paid $100. When I realized what happened, I went and canceled so it wouldn’t renew the following year. As a real estate agent, I actually ended up using this app a lot more than I expected and found it worth it. When I went to use the app a few months ago, I realize that my subscription had expired. I was delighted to see that it was cheaper, and I totally found the value worth it for my business. OR, so I thought. It allowed me to do five renderings and then tell me I had to purchase more credit if I wanted to do more. Previously, I had unlimited renderings for the year. This is a drastic change. I reached out to customer support and never got this resolved. That was almost 5 months ago, and I still can’t do any renderings without purchasing coins. Extremely frustratingI thought I would give this app a shot for visual staging of a simple small home. I have spent hours trying to generate a dining room. Literally I have created hundreds of rooms all of which were supposed to be dining rooms but every time they came out as living rooms. I changed my descriptions from vague to specific and used photos of dining rooms as my aspiration. Then I used a photo of an unattractive plain room with plain dining table. I selected enhance just to try and improve the furniture - it opened walls closed walls added a kitchen and left the dining table the same. I tried tweak instead and it took out sliding glass doors changed the flooring and added a kitchen and again the dining table looked the same. I did create a decent living room. The bedroom was better than the dining room but not nearly as good as the living room. Not there yetIf you’re looking for an app to take your existing photo and change it, this is the app for you. But if you’re looking for an app to give you ideas of simple changes or additional features like furniture, this is not even close to the app you should use. I tried to upload an image of my back deck as I’m looking into screening in the space, adding doors, and adding furniture. I wanted to see if there was an app that would allow me to see my options.. This not only didn’t screen in the deck, it didn’t add the doors, and it didn’t even add in furniture no matter what feature I put it on. What it did do was completely change the entire layout, add additional wood features, changed my backyard, etc. I even tried to make things extra simple in the prompt my selecting the ‘Tweak’ feature and putting in the prompt for “do not change image” and “add a rocking chair”. Worst app ever-I just spent $40 on this app and it’s literally the worst thing I’ve ever seen. I wish I could upload the pictures here in this review to show you what it’s coming up with. Hit or missSome of the renderings will have you lying on the floor laughing or vomiting as you watch your credits wither away. About half of the renderings are not even believable. The AI isn’t smart enough that when you want to remove bar stools (for example) and replace them with another style (or just bar stools that are not totally stupid and disproportionate), that it will give you a normal looking room. After half an hour of experimenting, I was told I’d reached my limit. What a waste of $10. Happy to share some of the totally ridiculous renderings I received and paid for (and not even viable designs because the furniture was wonky or AI put a sofa in place of a dining table or split the room without your even asking it to do that). Was great… until they updated it. Please roll it back 😭I downloaded the app in April 2024 and quickly got hooked. The renders were amazing so I paid for Pro and it became my new hobby and favorite AI renovation app. I recommended it at every opportunity. Then the updates started over the course of several months. Before the updates, it had worked flawlessly. After the updates, everything started looking like a haunted house. Fun but not great utilityI’ve been using trial for a day now, and so far have determined that it does better detection than another app to not add random doors, light switches, etc in weird spots, but I cannot use the paint feature for indoor or outdoor. It doesn’t detect paint areas, and the paintbrush method is very awkward and bad, on a good day. Paint gets everywhere you don’t want, and is a mess. Support for the app also seems nonexistent. I even went to the community forum and it’s just a bunch of posts with zero replies. Stay awayThis app is absolute garbage. It should be categorized as a game because the results are completely unpredictable. Privacy concernsWithout a subscription, this app gives you no facility to delete your uploaded photos. You have to contact customer support and ask them to do it for you. Fortunately, their customer support is excellent and they deleted my photos immediately upon request. Furthermore, location info is sent along with photos by default. You have to go to the settings and explicitly turn this off. These are real privacy concerns that make me reluctant to continue exploring this app, so I can’t speak to the usefulness of its features. Unrealistic Outdoor DesignNot impressed. $10 would go further in Vegas then spending it on this unfortunately. I downloaded for the sole purpose of a basic mock up of an outdoor pool to show what it would look like on the lawn. If I have a picture of a room or the front of my garage only, it changes the floor, fixtures and countertops. For the outside, if I ask to give me color options for my garage door, I end up with new siding, roof color, and suddenly shudders. Cool concept, but falls way shortBought a new house and thought this app would be helpful to visualize some minor renovations. It’s very cluttered and difficult to use. The AI copilot feature is essentially useless, when I ask for a specific change, it tells me to upload an image when there is clearly an image already uploaded. AI does what AI does which is sometimes very weird, like turning my oven into a giant basket. App is also very glitchy with many features not available or not working at a time. Overall, I paid $50 and spent 3–4 hours using the app and got maybe one useful low quality image out of it, and that was simply changing kitchen cabinet color. FrustratingI bought the app a few times now and I am still frustrated. My reviewThis game is very fun and does not have any ads. Well, that’s what I thought. Then, after renovating only TWO spaces the game says my renovation limit is up. I would have to pay TWELVE dollars per week or SEVENTY dollars per year to be able to renovate more. I thought that this was just a limit per day, so I tried it the next day and guess what?!? It said the same thing!! I would very much like for you to change this, because I don’t want to pay that much after only renovating TWO spaces.
