Happy App User Since 2011!Updated 2024: I STILL LOVE THIS APP SO MUCH! I have lists that go back to 2011 and I still use it for every trip. This app allows both a simple list AND/OR very detailed lists for fellow “list makers”. It’s easy to: • sort • filter • categorize • assign to a bag • assign to a person • mark things to buy • mark priority of items • build/customize master catalog, categories, etc. • and more I use this app even for day trips where I need to make sure I bring certain things. Ten Thumbs UpI'm long overdue writing a review for this app; I owe it to the developers. I can't remember what year I started using it but it was before the name changed, and I think it was on my iPhone 3GS! This app is simply a part of my travel routine, every trip, every time. An example of its utility: I take a kayaking trip every summer to the same cabin. This app takes care of every trivial question. ("Is this the place that doesn't provide paper towels—or is it dish soap?") Now I don't have to strain a single brain cell. A week before leaving I open the app and it's all there: I know to pack an extension cord for the second bedroom because the outlet is too far from the bed. We need 6 large, 8 medium and 4 small bungees for the kayaks. The coffee pot uses size-2 basket-style coffee filters. You get the drift. Organized and stress-free! I admit that I'd be screwed if I ever lost my lists but that, thankfully, has never happened to me. I do try to remember to back up my important lists from time to time. An A-plus app, invaluable. Been using for awhile and love itWhile the app gives you suggested lists, either editing or making your own is easy. I have different packing lists for business travel, short and long trips, camping, a cruise. I love the fact that when it comes time to pack I don’t have to start from scratch each time I pull out the suitcase. A wonderful packing list app.It takes a bit of learning but is well worth the time. I used for several years and in 2020 decided to simplify my collection of apps. I upgraded to the Pro features- well worth the small fee. Tried to use Things 3 for packing lists. Came back to Packing in 2021. Much better. It’s working fine on iOS 14. Thanks for a powerful app that lets you customize and syncs well with iCloud. I use seamlessly on iPhone and iPad. A nice surprise - my 2019 data was in iCloud and synced right up. An excellent app improved furtherI'd like to update my previous review (which was generally positive but focused on the things I'd love to see added/improved) with some glowing praise. One of my issues was that I was doing a lot of customization of the catalog, not only in terms of adding items but using it to create modular templates for different travel purposes. I had previously corresponded with the app creators about the ability to edit catalog data off-line and at that time this wasn't possible. Well, not only did they add the function, but I got a personal note letting me know that they'd done so! Also, I just bought an iPad and was wondering how annoying it would be to share all my customized data between the phone and the iPad. Thanks to the easy export/import function, not only did transferring my catalog and custom lists take about 2 minutes, but finding out how to do it took even less time. (As opposed to the common experience of spending an hour to figure out how to perform a 5 minute task.) I use this packing list app to supplement my non-detail-oriented brain for trips that range from family Christmas to professional conferences to historic re-enactment events to campouts with gear for three different sports. Although I've had to invest a fair amount of time into analyzing and doing the customizations for my needs, I find that it suits my purposes almost perfectly. And the company has been so responsive that I'm likely to correspond further with them regarding those last few details that would bring it up to "perfect". (Not including someone to come over and do the actual packing for me!).HRJonesVersion: 10.1

Love it - would like to see better totals thoughI love this app. If you take the time initially to input all your gadgets, micsellaneous items, etc. and tag them with which bag you put them in, (optional - weight), etc. the functionality is brilliant. Super easy to start using - very intuitive, and absolutely great for remembering everything you generally want to pack. I have my own list that I used to keep in a flat text file, this is a great improvement over that - however, I can't say that I've used much of the functionality of the built-in lists. A great improvement would be for the screen where Totals are shown to display the weight that has been packed already. Unfortunately it only shows the totals of all items you have entered per category/bag, but if I've taken the time to put in the weight of each item that I generally put in my carry-on, and I start packing and check the box for each item I've put in the bag, it would be amazing to get an estimate of how much weight my carry on has accumulated so far. So for example, lets say I haven't started packing yet, the weight should display 0.00kg. Then I put my Jambox in my carry-on, and I check it off the list in this app, the weight should now display about 0.15kg and so on and so forth as I pack more items. I'd love to see the screen where you enter information for each item save by itself (both my girlfriend and myself have this app, and we frequently forget to tap 'save', we just hit the back arrow absentmindedly thinking the information we've put in has saved by itself.JCBennyVersion: 13.2

Love this app!I have used this app for multiple trips now and just love it. I was able to add to and delete categories and items from the developers Master List to make it my own. I can create what I am calling "template lists" (such as one for my husband's business trips or one for cruises which we take every few years). Then I create a current list by copying that template (the app makes this very easy to do). The app remembers what is needed for that particular kind of trip so I don't have to. I can also email a list to someone else joining us on a trip (I used the option which listed the items individually in the email, though I think you can email in a format where they import to their device if they use the same app). Pretty good app - have some suggestionsThe app is simple, but it does the job. I suggest the following enhancements: 1. Give more room for the “x number” of an item. For example, if I add Dollars or Euros as an item and enter 500 as the “x number”, it shows “x...” instead of “x 500” because there’s not enough room for the 500. I recommend allowing for 4 digits to accommodate money or travelers checks. Currently, it only shows 2 digits. 2. Add a setup/configure option to allow for showing or removing the “Type” field from the list. It takes up valuable space that would better used for the name of the item or the number of items. 3. Add a setup/configure option to allow the user to sort the list within Category by one of the following options: - User Defined Order (the way it is now) - Type, Item - Item, Type 4. Increase the font size when typing in the information. 5. Allow the user to add an item without having to go into Edit mode. Look at how e-mail works. The Edit button is at the upper right as it is in this app, but there is also a “new” icon at the bottom right. It would good to follow this same approach so that the user can add a new item at any time (maybe a PLUS sign). The “New” screen would have to specify the Category if the user decides to add an item using this approach. 6. Adding a new list could also use the approach of having a “New” button in the lower right rather than cluttering up the display of lists. 7. Sort the lists, such as the Gadget list, alphabetically to make it easier to find information. 8. Change the display when the iPhone is turned sideways so that more of the information can be displayed and so that the font can be larger. 9. Wonderful organizational lifesaverOne used this app for years. It provides so much peace of mind. You are mentally packed before the trip even starts and stress melts away! The premise is there is a master catalog of all things you could conceivably want to pack, and then for each trip you plan, you grab items from that master list to populate your individual packing lists. Pleased so far! *edited*I'm happy with this app so far. It is easy to use and I'm glad that the checked items stay listed for review. The starter lists are good though I'd like to see some pre listed items for business trips and device chargers. The only complaint I have is that I usually enter in my lists by category, so after I select pants for example I'd prefer to go back to clothes rather than the start page (my grocery list app does this nicely). Other then that a few bugs with random crashes (this has never caused me to lose the list) but this may be a general iPhone memory issue. V12.0 is awesome!I've used this app for 3 years and have found it to be the best of its kind. However I always had to make workarounds either in the catalog, my lists, or outside the app for some common things that I wished we're in it...identifying people in my family, assigning an item to multiple people (eg. Toothbrush), and deciding if its carryon, checked luggage, or if its something we take on our person. The new version ( v12) solves all that and even some problems I didn't realize I had until I saw the solution. The iPad view is fantastic. Many apps don't really factor in the larger screen to make the views easier to use, but this app does. I'm about to switch to Samsung gs4, but thank god I have my iPad mini so I can continue to use this. Over the past 3 years, this has allowed be to finely tune our packing so we are either going completely carryon or checking 1-2 bags for a family of 4. However, You need the discipline to 1. Immediately revisit your list at end of each trip to remove items you never used, add items you realized you needed, and 2. Don't use it every day, but when I need it, it's a lifesaver!I don't remember what I packed for last years vacation. But, this year it was all saved in this app and it took all the pre-stress out of my vacation. I had to pack for myself and two kids. Last time I updated the list after the trip if I forgot something and if I took too much of something. I also go away for weekend trips with my girlfriends twice a year and I have a list of what to pack for that. Amazing app!This is the first time I've written an app review and couldn't be happier that it is for this one. I went to Thailand and this app enabled me to whittle down my packing for a 2 week business trip to a large purse and a carry-on! Great programTake the negative reviews with a grain of salt. If you take a bit of spare time to customize the lists then it is a very excellent program.
