Interesting ApplicationUsing a 3G S Camera It does work prvided you have read the directions and have the proper lighting. Functionality is a little slim. It would be nice to choose what stores we get our search results from; however I dont think there is a suitable online database which you can seach UPC codes for price comparison yet. I spent a good 30 minutes today scanning books movies and misc products to see if it could be useful during a shopping trip, but not really satisfied from where the price results came from which were mostly online stores I had never heard of. loads of potential here and its a free app..Mellow129Version: 0

Great job incorporating feedback of previous versionsThis version is significant improvement over previous version which I gave one star that I felt it did not even deserve. My key complaint then was the assumption made by the application developer that the average user would be able to keep the camera steady enough to get a correct scan on the first try. I even suggested they incorporate image stabilizing software. Well I am pleased to say the new live scan feature worked on the first try. I was at Costco and I wanted to get information on a Casio keyboard. I opened the application and positioned the phone so the UPC was visible. And before I knew it, the scan completed and it was actually correct on the first try! I was pleasantly surprised. The capture button on the screen that made it that much more difficult to get a steady image is gone in this version! I see myself using this more often now. Works great, saves $$$This app has helped me find a product on the Internet many times when a local store doesn't have the size or color I'm looking for. It also helps me figure out whether the local price is reasonable considering the help I'm getting, and the "speed" of local pickup. It has saved me some major $$$ when the online price has been significantly less. In most store lighting the barcode scanner works perfectly (with both my older 3GS phone/iOS 3, and my newer 4 iPhone), and the search feature is reliable. Sometimes I have to search the product box for the correct barcode (shoes often have two different barcodes), but only one will scan into pic2shop. Great app!Ok people who are saying that the scanner doesn't find any of the products they scan are obviously not scanning the right items. The scanner does not recognize food, drinks, living things, etc. because those things are not sold on the Internet. The scanner does not get data from stores! The scanner does recognize almost all videos and books. It also recognizes most everyday items such as cleaning products, electronics, etc. If it's sold on the Internet(not including eBay or other sites that let any person advertise things they want to sell), it may be recognized by the scanner..Samuelson yesVersion: 0

Amazing application!! Only one complaint...This application is such a great one to have...scans books and other media barcode's in a matter of seconds and gives a list of stores that sell the product so you can compare pricing. Only this is I used to be able to email myself the results (either the last result or the previous 20), but with the most recent update, I can't figure out how to email or otherwise export more than the most recent entry scanned!! Like this one!This is the first one that works pretty good. I have found that the item needs to be some what a NATIONAL products. I own a salon and most of my products where found. I went to a friends store and some of his items also came up. I checked out some books and it worked on newer ones and I tried it on some of my office supplies and also worked. It is free and GOOD!I got this app when it was first available and immediately was able to put it to use. Since that time, there have been steady improvements. Use common sense when using the iPhone camera. Hold it still, and make sure there is light. If you cannot do those two things, then maybe you shouldn't have bought an iPhone in the first place! Amazing app for 3G SAfter reading previous reviews, this app sounded like a case of a great idea with poor execution. But I noticed some 3G S users who seemed to have nothing but good things to say, so I gave it a shot . . . I can only speak for my use on my 3G S, but for me, this app has been terrific. I've had a high success rate with the UPC's that I've snapped. I'm careful to keep a steady hand, but it seems to give more leeway with that than I expected. I'm impressed!I have an iPhone 3G, not the 3GS, so I was a little worried about how well this app would work with out the focus feature that the 3GS has. To my surprise it worked GREAT! and it was still really quick! While it's really great for electronics and appliances and that stuff, what I really like about this app is the library feature. Good - "Results" needs helpThis app has saved me big bucks - my only complaint - in "results" it would be WAY nice to be able to go through and delete the items you don't want to save, as it will only save a certain # of items and delete the older ones. I use this as a "shopping list" - so I don't forget to get it online if necessary. Also, once you click on an item in the "results" - it's apparently IMPOSSIBLE to get back to the list! Good appI buy large lots to sell on eBay and this helps me quickly locate an item and determine an approximate value. It recognizes most items and has a backup plan if it can't find it in it's database. In that manner it's 5 stars. But, the camera should be able to focus when I touch the focal point just like it does in the iPhone camera's normal operating mode. This will save you moneyI've been using this for years. It will save you money! The developer has consistently made improvements scanning is quick and reliable. The only down side is that once scanned the search engine technology is not as reliable. For example sometimes it gets the price of a used item rather than a new item. Great free tool...one requestI have the new ipod touch with camera. The app works perfectly as long as I have a wifi connection (and it is very quick and clever...we love it). It'd be perfect if it could store some bar codes when I did not have the connection, then look them up when I was back in wifi range. Would this be possible? Great!I never write reviews but this product is so good and the reviews are so bad I had to do something to set it straight. I've only had it for a few days but it's already helping me, and it's cool! There must have been problems with an earlier version that have since been corrected. Coool AppThis App works like a champ. Someone told me about Redlaser. Then I stumbled on this App. While sitting at the B&N bookstore, I installed it, then scanned a few barcodes from the books and the App worked EXACTLY as advertised. It gave me every price available for the books I scanned. What would make this App even better given that it's free is I could use a Base price and for it to render percentage calculations savings relative to the Base Price. Very niceOverall this app works pretty good. The scanning is super fast in fact faster than any other scanning app that I've viewed. The accuracy is very good it has found almost all of the items that I scanned with the exception of a few of them off brand items. Works great if you just follow directionsThis app works very well. Just be sure when you go to snap the barcode, you frame it completely within the provided small window. Pretty decent app nut needs some workThe best part of this app is that it scans the barcode very well. The bad part is it searches for the item at too few a places and only shows those places where one would seldom go and shop the item. It should show the places to buy the item which are in vicinity of the iPhone user by using location services. It's real fun to scan all that is in sight, but you have to hold the camera super still and it will have more trouble with some barcodes more than others. Wait a barcode scanner that works in CanadaThis is unbelievable. This scanner works in Canada on mostly all of my products. I tried everything else (and i mean everything) on the app store and i think I finished finding a good barcode scanner to compare deals! Now I only wish that it looked up Staples Canada, they have good deals from time to time on electronics (which you can save a whole lot of money on) If this app wasn't free, I would have not minded paying $1 for it. Not the developer's faultSo, I downloaded this app mainly because I saw the G1 commercial and was so mad the G1 can do this, but my fabulous iPhone cannot. And while, after reading the reviews I was expecting complete utter failure - I was surprisingly surprised :) After about 64 or so tries, I actually got it to work...once. But then again, that's not entirely the developer's fault mainly because it has to do with the precision of the picture. But, if you have patience, really good lighting, and friends that are easily impressed...this app does the trick. Keep in mind, if you're planning on going to the store and comparing prices of things with this app, you're going to be horribly dissapointed. In fact, it mostly doesn't work. When it does work the item is often "not in the database".
