ITablaPro App Comments & Reviews

ITablaPro Positive Reviews

Hiten A DalalThx for all great updates throughout the years. Please consider providing an add on for a reasonable fee for pakhavaj or even a separate app. In Haveli Sangeet we use pakhavaj a lot. Or provide variation of Pakhavaj bol for applicable taal. I am Fan and student of music. This program is great and I appreciate that we keep getting new raga additions and updates. For the price it is incredible deal. You get two tanpura that can be tuned to your liking. Manjiraa will follow tabla tala selected. Almost all tabla tala that I know. Of course, this is for accompaniment so does not have all kaayada. You get swar mandal. Surpeti to adjust your pitch. Incredible ensemble of great features. I would like to request that they provide additional raag based on user request for a reasonable fee of around $5 as a raag release or tal release. Great work!!!.Version: 11.1.6

I bought an iPad in order to run this appCouple of years later I was grateful to find out I automatically could get the iPhone version. It's still by far my favorite app. I wish developers would do similar things for other styles if music. I'm not a Indian classical player, but I mess around with Kirtan. (Suggestion: set up your favorites so your 6, 8 and 16 beat tals are all easily available without having to scroll through all the other options. Yeah, someday I hope to play in 13 and a half, but until then...) I love the interface but what really makes it are the quality of the sounds. In fact I wish the tabla was available for playback through a sampler. I asked and got an immediate and polite no for an answer. Hmmmmmm, perhaps I should take off one star....Version: 9.7.4

Excellent, some feature requestsI just want to thank the developer for creating such a gem of an app for the followers of eastern classical genre. I have been a long user of this app and very satisfied with the sound and variations. Recently in iOS/ iPad OS music making community people who want to buy this app are really concerned about whether there will be features like Ableton link/ Host Tempo Sync in another Daw and mainly Auv3 support for the app in the future. I know it is not necessary for practice and performance, but if Auv3 is supported, we can use it for music making purpose as well. This is my curiosity and a desperate feature request as well. I hope we get the clear picture from the developer..Version: 10.2.5

Keharwa Taals lacking in variationsI love this app; been using for years and years. Recently noticed quite a few awesome additions to Dadra. But disappointed that Keharwa Taal is still the same old beats. Need a major overhaul with many additional for different Laggi variations, Bandh Keharwa etc. Light film music and Sangeet, ghazals,Bhajan, geet. Majority of taals are too exotic for these needs and way up there. Please bring it down to our level for singing accompaniment. Majority of songs below classical or semi classical are Kehrwa, Dadra and way down Rupak, Jhaptal. At least give us more for these especially by far Keharwa. I don’t understand why Dadra has been considerably enhanced but not Keharwa..Version: 11.6.1

The Best App for Indian Music and Much MoreI have been using iTabla for quite a number of years now and use it almost daily. For many years I was a student of North Indian classical music, and for many years since, I have been a jazz musician, retaining many of the ideas and concepts of Indian music. So in addition to practicing ragas and talas, I also use it for less traditional purposes, such as non-traditional tanpura tunings, and for general practice in odd meters. Also, every musician can benefit from practicing regularly with a drone, as it can greatly improve your subtle sense of pitch. The app is also extremely well designed, and I would recommend it not just for students of Indian music (for whom it is really essential), but for any musician who wants to practice modal music with configurable drone accompaniment, or wants to practice in a wide variety of metric patterns. It also can provide a very useful background for all sorts of vocal exercises. Unless you have a couple of decent Indian musicians who can accompany you whenever you want, you should have this app, and probably even then..Version: 9.7.4

Great app but bug in Paid add-onThis is a very useful app for Indian classical musicians. It’s well designed and allows customization from everything I’ve needed so far, and I would recommend it to any musician interested in Indian classical. However, there is a bug with the paid karaoke add on. While it records the in-built instruments perfectly fine, nothing is recorded from the microphone. I haven’t seen any others with this issue so maybe it’s a bug specific to users like me. Please fix this, and this app would be perfect!! Edit: I forgot to turn up the microphone gain in the mixer. The “issue” is fixed!.Version: 11.0.2

Very well designed, easy to useThis software was well designed. It is very easy to learn how to use all of the features just by opening all of the menus and reading the choices. The sound quality is excellent. I love how you can make the tabla play more fills for the vilambit tempo and choose between several variations of how it plays theka at any tempo. You can even fine tune the tampura settings in great detail. The designer thought of everything. I love how You can still see how much battery power is left on your phone while using. This app is any serious Hindusthani or Carnatic music student or performer’s best friend..Version: 9.7.4

Incredible appITablaPro is an incredible app for any musician and especially those playing Indian classical and spiritual music. I am a sitar player and have been using it for many years. The developers have included every possible drum and tone option conceivable for Indian music and it can be tuned to your instrument or tone range. You can play along with tabla and tambura tracks or have it in the background. All and all an incredible and valuable app worth much more than the cost..Version: 10.9.3

Incredible Tabla appI was recently in Varanasi, India for a private concert by Shivnath Mishra, a world class sitar player. As a musician I returned with a passion to add sitar, drones and tabla to a blues song. I purchased a sitar synth box for my guitar and tried to find tabla loops online. When I discovered iTabla it was like having a tabla player sitting beside me in the studio. The number of styles is amazing, along with the ability to vary the style, set bpm, and record the output for easy transfer to your PC and upload into your DAW. The creator of this app is an IT professional which shows in the clear design and ease of use. A question sent before purchase was answered within a couple of hours as was a question after purchase. This is an incredible app that delivers more than expected. Highly recommended..Version: 10.1.2

The best accompaniment for a Hindustani Classical MusicianThis app provides a very realistic tanpura sound that you can tune very accurately (many times needed to match the pitch of a harmonium). Also provides tabla sounds in all taals, including ati vilambit. The theka of this app is better than many amateur tabla players. It also provides swaramandal and shruti peti background. This app has become the standard which many professional Hindustani classical musicians I know use..Version: 10.3.3

SBKAs an early adopter of iTabla and extensive user of iTabla-Pro, I made tens of my friends buy the app and everybody is using it effectively. It remains to be the best apps in Indian music arena yet with no competitor anywhere close to it. I have a feature request which is simple to implement but will be very very useful. In all the taal, if you can add a couple of pickup, mukhda and tods, it will become a full tool. Hope you will consider my request and make them available ASAP..Version: 10.0.6

Wonderful app! This app is excellent. There are so many settings and it works really well. I was having a problem with my app (it was my airpod/phone’s fault in fact) but the developer was very quick to respond and helped me figure it out. I’ve been using it for several years and cannot speak highly enough about it!.Version: 11.6.1

Deserves it’s high ratingRegardless of it’s superb quality and status among music apps, this app deserves recognition for the developer’s attention to updating and maintaining it’s functionality across all iOS updates and model upgrades. This is how you put a quality app out there. I’ve been using this app casually since I got my first iPhone, a 4S. Well worth the price tag..Version: 9.7.4

Great appI use this app for Kathak practice, and it’s super. It’s easy to adjust the laya, volume, etc, and it has a wide range of taals to choose from. Two things I’d love to make this perfect: like other users have said, pakjawaj options, and an option for Raas, since we perform many compositions to that taal. Jai taal is an ok substitute but the bols are different. Otherwise, it’s great. My husband plays dilruba and he can use the app for that, too..Version: 11.6.3

Fantastic App!I recently purchased iTablaPro. I have always been a music enthusiast, and currently learning Indian classical music. this is the best app I have come across. With detailed thought and design around different raagas, tasks, it really caters to the needs of performers. I Love it! Thanks for your efforts and for making this app. I look forward to using this app for classical and light musical performances..Version: 10.1.3

Must for every Hindustani musicianApart from the fact that the app has become an absolute essential in every Indian musician’s armament, I would like to appreciate the fact that the developer is one of the most supportive and responsive of any possible problems that the user faces while using the app, which are quite far and few as such..Version: 10.5.0

Fantastic app and developerThere is not much to add to what others have said about how great this app sounds and functions. But that it is backed by developer who keeps it current and responds to help requests in an awesomely timely fashion - makes it really shine and stand out. Thank you Prasad for this eminently useful app that is more like a set of capable, realistic-sounding instruments..Version: 10.2.5

Absolutely amazing!Learned how to use this app with ease. Love all of the features on it. Sound quality is outstanding and connects to my speaker. Perfect app for mantra meditations. I was ecstatic to find that 432 hz tuning was built in the app as I was searching endlessly for a 432 hz sitar with no luck. A sincere thank you to the creators of this app!.Version: 10.7.5

Wonderful backing for my native american fluteI found the reference for this app on flutopedia. As a NAF style flute player always looking for backing tracks. This app is amazing even includes a shruti box drone. You can adjust the key to any flute and the myriad settings that come with it are enchanting. A wonderful way to experience actual East Indian beats and rhythms..Version: 9.7.4

Excellent app! It's never failed on me unlike other apps. It works well in tandem with recording apps and minimizes on the lock screen to show me the taal (which beginners often need). The tanpura is just fabulous--I can customize it to tune both or either. Can't get enough of this setup!.Version: 9.7.4

Incredible!I have used this numerous times for practice and performance. It's pricey for an app, which made me hesitant to purchase at first. However, it has been a great investment. It sounds great, it's flexible, it's easy to use, has a nice interface, and has numerous great features..Version: 9.7.4

The definitive ICM appThis is an app used by almost all professional Indian classical music artist. That is a huge testament. It’ll never replace a real tanpura or tabla player, but it is a fantastic practice tool. Very easy to use while being very comprehensive..Version: 11.6.3

Functional and TherepeuticThis is the best tanpura app I have used so far. I use it for my music of course, but in addition that, I use it for meditation as well. I also use it to block all outside noise in public and focus on my work. Great app!! Great sound quality!.Version: 9.7.4

The Perfect AppFor $25 it's a tough sell, but I use his app every day of my for hours! It's perfect, totally worth it. The sounds are incredible and are the real thing, and it makes such a big difference! This app can do so many things!.Version: 9.7.4

Tabla tempo needs fixingSo far I have been very satisfied with the app. But recently I have noticed that tabla tempo varies a lot. Can you please fix this ASAP. I think this started happening when I started using AirPods but not sure on this. Also karaoke recording feature doesn’t work well using AirPods..Version: 10.0.6

Please add!Overall its a great app with great quality for practice. Its missing 4 beat kherwa which is a must in my opinion. Most bollywood songs and Ghazels need a 4- beat kherwa. I hope the developer add a couple variations of 4- beat kherwa. Then you can use this app even more. Thanks!.Version: 11.8.2

Good experience and need helpI love the app! Need one help - the tabla used to stop earlier only when the taal cycle’s last beat finished. Now it stops immediately when I tap Stop. Is there a way to mange that?.Version: 11.6.3

A great accompaniment for busking!!!I'm glad to have this app on my iPhone because I take it outdoors and busk with it playing blues licks and other dishonorable sonic mentions with numerous variations employed. It's a very powerful and flexible app that communicates well with the listeners as they pass by and fill my tip jar. And … why not?.Version: 9.7.4

Great App but have a request to the developersPlease bring a new update that lets users to control SwarMandal Speed. Other than that, very nice work in building the app. Am loving the app since many years now. Very reliable for serious Riyaz. Thanks alot team..Version: 11.6.1

There’s a bugWhile practicing I found a bug where when it goes full scree my iPad always shows 100% when it was only 14% I would love it if this was fixed in the next update..Version: 10.5.0

Excellent & BeyondOne of the finest apps I've ever seen. So inclusive and efficient. Great sound, etc. 1. Wish there was a manual way to get to the all-black screen with the counter numbers sooner. 2. Wish the tanpura had a bit more variety..Version: 9.7.4

Worth every pennyGreat app. I have gotten nothing but joy and happiness from this. I use it as background for playing my bansuri. Love this app. I have had it for years and still don't feel like I have scratched the surface of this apps abilities.Version: 9.7.4

Best app everAfter trying so many free versions and reluctant to pay for this app, finally I made a move for this, and it is such an amazing, well programmed app, that it is worth lot more than I paid for it. Thanks guys for building this..Version: 9.7.4

This works best for singing, Well designedITablaPro works really well for my singing practice. Now if I need tabla I have the perfect solution. The software is very easy to use also. By far my favorite app for singing..Version: 10.2.5

Great App!This is really excellent app for professional performers and students as well. Just a small suggestion, sometimes when we have to perform light classical music we cannot select tanpura according to those mishra sur. Appreciate this small change to your app. Thanks..Version: 9.7.4

Doesn’t work with Family Sharing.Although claimed as Family Sharing supported app, this one doesn’t seem to actually support family sharing! Has anyone else encountered the same issue?.Version: 10.1.2

Top notchGreat for practice. It may seem expensive but I have not regretted one moment of having plunked down the cash for this! Does everything I need and the sound quality is superb..Version: 9.7.4

Best PracticeI use this app as my metronome when I practice the guitar. It is perfect. It has opened a whole world of study on keeping Time. I realize I am just scratching the surface of what iTabla can provide. I eagerly await for what's coming..Version: 9.7.4

Expert ModeWhen I use Expert Mode on taals like Ektaal, Teentaal, and Jhaptaal, they sound as if a real tabla player was accompanying me. I think more taals, like Adachautaal, could also use this feature..Version: 11.8.4

About manjiraIt have not manjira setting in itabla pro app. There is no option if it is to be set to the first matra of any taal only. So we request that it be updated.Version: 11.6.6

Doesn’t integrate with GarageBandWas hoping to be able to use the interapp audio feature.Version: 10.1.3

Amazing App!A must-have app for anyone needing a tampura sound. You can even tune it to other instruments. Truly grateful that this exists. I've used it in concert many times..Version: 9.7.4

The app is just amazing🙈Everything I need for practicing is included🙈🙈🙈 Please update the app for IOS 13 with consideration of new option for recording either built-in mic or headphone mic👍.Version: 10.0.6

Must for students of Hindustani musicTop notch sound quality for accompaniment. Must for students of Hindustani Classical Music. Lot of functionality for a low price..Version: 9.7.4

Works wellI had to reinstall back to default settings but is working fine after iOS 14..Version: 10.2.5

Tanpura issuesWhile starting the apps, tapping on any tanpura or tabla should play it singly, but for a couple of months, it is not happening. I can not play a tanpura by tapping on tanpura 1, then i enter in settings and simply come out. after that it works. please fix the issue..Version: 10.3.4

Used to be goodThis app is very useful as it has tanpura, tabla rhythm in a myriad of taals and the swaramandal. A great package. However it cannot be relied on or replace the actual tanpura or electronic tanpura. With recent iOS updates, something seems to be broken in the iTablaPro app. On playing the tanpura with a particular raga setting in the swarmandal, the tanpura pitch *slowly* starts going offtune. I have confirmed this happens only with iTablaPro and not with the electronic tanpura box. I had contacted Mr. Upasani but haven’t heard back. Kindly restore this app to the top quality it used to be..Version: 9.7.4

App is got hang sometimeWhen connect my iPhone to my jbl speaker and play the metronome the sound is small in some beats. But at the same time when I stopped the apps and play music from liberty it’s okay when speaker. I don’t know what that problem..Version: 9.7.4

Love this appLove this app.Version: 9.7.4

Great app. This is one of the greatest that I couldPossibly use for my Sitar performances solo. There are a huge number of styles and even a shuffle by the bols change adding a nice texture and some variety. Highly recommend it..Version: 11.6.5

Was good app but missing some features now- there is no option for male and female tanpura setting. They removed the preset voice setting as well. Treble is too much now..Version: 10.0.6

I love your app except for the annoying session time screenGreat app but one feature ruins the entire experience for me. In under 30 secs of playing any taal, a black screen pops up displaying the session time and speed. This covers up the control panel and I cannot switch on or off any buttons on the go while I’m performing. Basically I have to tap twice, one to get out of the black session screen and second time to actually hit any buttons. I looked up if I could change this configuration but couldn’t find anything. Please let me know if I can somehow disable it..Version: 11.7.1

Perfectly accessible with VoiceOverThe first ever indian music app that I can use without trouble because I'm blind, very good and clean interface. Almost all the buttons are correctly labeled. The tuning scrollbar is well done, same thing for tanpura setting. However not a lot of tabla taal, but well done for the raag collection! It is the only one app for indian music I can really and fully independently use with needing any kind of assistance. Same thing for the light version op the app. Good job!.Version: 11.6.1

Best Tabla AppHave been using it for several years. Perfect for accompaniment. Very frequently updated. Of course would like to have additional variations for the taals... Thanks....Version: 10.3.0

Great app for practice or live useI’ve been using this app for years (at gigs, in the studio and for practice) and love it - the sound quality, variety of taals, mixer and all the options. Very comprehensive. Well done!.Version: 10.1.2

Hey thrClassic app to reaz soo toned vth sweet sound and lots of options vth thanx.Version: 9.7.4

I pro tablaIt's a good app.But the background music overpowers the tabla beats. It would be better if the background music could be controlled. Sulekha Srivastava.Version: 9.7.4

Love the appExcellent product. Good accompaniment. Would love to see more shuffle options wherein it changes the patterns automatically..Version: 9.7.4

Music student of Hindustani classical musicWow! Amazing app. No need for the electronic box versions when you have this app. Music student's delight!!.Version: 9.7.4

Simply Amazing !!!This is a fantastic app! This certainly replaces some very expensive and out-dated equipment! I can use this to practice and preform with my Bansuri/Sitar/Violin/Guitar! I can just plug my iPad into any PA or speaker set up and off I go! The instrument sounds are superb also. I would recommend this to any musician classic or fusion !.Version: 0

The BestI have tried other tabla apps around the world, but nothing compares to iTabla pro! Practice or performance, it is in a class by itself..Version: 9.7.3

Mind Blowing App.It's a really great application. I love it. But if you can add Harmonium and in the next update. Anyway, awesome work. Thanks..Version: 0

Very helpfulThis is a great product. Very user friendly and helpful..Version: 9.7.2

AuthenticI am no tabla expert but I have heard it played often and this app sounds right. It really creates an authentic feeling. It is well done in many ways. The interface is good, the sound is excellent and it is fun to play. I certainly recommend it, but only if you like music and want to enjoy yourself. If you do not like music and prefer sports and eating a lot then forget this app then use the money to go eat a ton of hot dogs at a MLB game..Version: 9.7.1

Itabla proThis product is amazing! I just purchased it last week and I love it. The sound is so beautiful and the karaoke add on is a perfect tool to record your singing. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves singing!.Version: 9.7.1

Aeolian54ITablaPro is my favorite app of all right now. Not only do I practise sargams with it, but also Celtic, east European like Bulgarian tunes etc. because you can find talas to match almost any time signature. It looks great on both my iPod touch and the iPad. ....Two years later or whatever, still in my top two most beloved apps. As a symphony bassist and university teacher, I play scales to the tanpura and tablas and get my students to play along with it too. As a freelance bassist, mandolinist, I train with it and now have a gig with a live tabla player..Version: 9.6.5

Great soundOne of my very favourite music apps..Version: 9.4.3

A subcontinent of sound in your pocket! As a player of a variety of instruments including the indian sarod I am very thankful to the creator of iTabla pro for designing such a great app that fits my musical journey. Probably the most used app on my phone for over 3 years. Tune your instruments to a beautiful tampura drone, or tune the app to your instruments, set a tabla or metronome beat for practice, amplify for an atmospheric session with musical friends. A subcontinent of sound in your pocket!.Version: 9.4.3

The BestThis is the Best app..for Indian Music... No doubt.Version: 9.4.2

Sarod playerI used itabla for about 7 months for practice with Sarode. The tambura is very good and the tabla is also pleasing to play with. If there is one thing I'd like to change it is that the Swar Mandel keeps coming back when I don't want it. I'd like it if you could save the tabla to automatically come back when saved as a preset. Right now it tells you what you saved but you have to manually find it and set the speed. I give this app a 9 out of ten..Version: 9.4.3

Great appDaily user....Version: 9.4.2

Best App ever !Hi everyone for all Indian music students this is simply the best on the market ! I had it for over 1year now and well worth it !!!.Version: 9.1.1

The best $50 I ever spent!Love it for: - tuning to my flutes - learning styles - saving $500 on separate hardware - playing it in the background with other apps - stability Wish list - design your own patterns - tutorial pattern display - more DIY information on traditional rhythms - create and save instrument pattern chains for performances - more more more!.Version: 9.1.1

Keeps getting better! This is the ultimate app for ICM and its derivatives. It remains so because the developer is always making improvements and is very responsive..Version: 9.0.1

IOS 6Kindly update for iOS 6 .. Much appreciated :) Thanks.Version: 8.9.0

Wonderful ApplicationThis one app replaced all our shruti and tabla boxes. Now I just carry my iPad to create a one man band with this app. Having six built in instruments at the touch of a finger tip is very useful to create the sounds you want. The app used very good sound samples that produces amazing sound, specially when amplified through PA and decent speakers. We use it not only for riyaz but also in live settings such as bhajans and live performances. With the preset capability, one can create various taal and raag settings and recall them instantaneously. This is a wonderful application and specially useful if there are no live accompanists around..Version: 8.7.0

Great practice toolI use this to practice bansuri. Best Pocket band for sure. The one missing piece for me is the ability to change the tempo of tanpura please consider adding. Thanks.Version: 8.9.0

SartajPlease add presets for swar mandal also , than it would be 5 star..Version: 8.8.8

Just awesomeThis app is so awesome, clean and intuitive - I'm throwing out the other app I had that was double the price and a pain to figure out....Version: 8.6.1

Akhil JobanputraThis is a very good application. A must have for all indian classical music students. I dont even use my tabla and tanpura box now i only use my iphone. Thank you very much for this application..Version: 7.9

A real investmentSince I purchased iTablaPro, I use it three times a week accompanying yoga classes. In just a couple months of use, my intonation, timing, and melodic and rhythmic creativity have greatly improved. An invaluable tool!.Version: 7.5
