PlaceTrack is a modern, cross-platform, full-featured location journaling and sharing app, available for iPhone, Apple Watch, and other platforms, and also offering compatibility with Car Play. It keeps a history of your locations 24/7 with almost no impact on battery life, capturing data on speed, course, altitude, and user activity. Additionally, its optional sharing features allow you to track your loved ones, monitor their travelling speed, get directions to their current location, and view street-level images of any place they are or they have been. You can also overlay and compare your location or your contacts' locations against a GPX track. This can be imported from files, Strava, or Apple Watch workout routes, as the app integrates seamlessly with HealthKit.

- excellent battery usage: PlaceTrack uses SLC mode (Significant Location Change) and region monitoring, NOT continuous background. PlaceTrack is suspended in the background most of the time and is woken up only when you move significantly (detected using cell towers signal); most of the time it just sleeps and the GPS hardware is powered off to preserve battery. Install the app and forget about it

Absolutely the Best!If you are even debating buying this then just buy it. Hands down the best location app for multiple reasons: 1) This app takes battery life seriously unlike every other location app out there including Google's own Latitude app. I do not even notice a dip in my battery life with this running in the background. 2) Accuracy is not sacrificed. Somehow the location accuracy is perfect even though I use the default GPS timeout which to me is the most important part of the app and something no one else has. 3) Offline support! Personally, I like having every point saved and with this app you get that! Even if you have no data it will monitor your GPS changes and push them online once you have a data connection. Lastly, the developer is quick to fix bugs and adds features all the time!.Version: 2.3.5
Perfect after the ios4.2 updateI really like this app. it's perfect for road trips. its ui and icons could use tweaking but otherwise works as advertised. ability to fine-tune update frequency is super nice. for those complaining about background update not working there was an iOS bug in 4.1 which is fixed in 4.2.Version: 0
Flawless on iOS v4.0This works great if you are running iOS v4.0. Yes it cashes on v4.1, but the Developer has notified Apple of the crashing issues and it should be fixed when v4.2 comes out. Once this is fixed you'll love this app. If you're not on v4.1 yet, I'd buy it, but if you are, you should wait for an update to resolve the crashes..Version: 0
Latitude check in while using little powerI have has this app installed on my phone for more than a year and like that I don't need to worry about it working. Just set it up and leave it. It will take care of the rest without eating up all of your battery..Version: 2.4.2
I feel sorry for this developer, Google made this app totally unnecessaryI'm glad this developer did this app because it provided a service when Google would not. Unfortunately for him, Google has now added a free Latitude app rendering this one obsolete. I don't see anything in this app that makes it better than the free one from Google and I've used both. Best so farThis app is much better then the official google client so far. If I look at my track on the history page of latitude and it is much more accurate on days using this app then the other client. With the other client there are points several miles away from anywhere I traveled. Improvements that would help this app: - send location when power status changes. That way it would send when getting in and out of car. - enable different set of options when plugged in. I bet this is an iPhone limitation with SLC events..Version: 2.3.7

Great way to update Latitude w/o killing your batteryI use this app to maintain my Latitude history. Since it allows you to set the update intervals, you get a good approximation of where you've been without killing your battery.
