Want to display or send SSTV transmissions, without using a bulky computer? SSTV Pad lets you decode and display Ham (Amateur) Radio SSTV (Slow Scan TV) transmissions. Just connect your device to an HF radio (or even set it next to the radio's speaker), tune in an SSTV frequency, and watch the pictures. SSTV Pad decodes all of the popular SSTV modes, including Robot, Scottie, Martin, and more. Some modes are receive only.
Decoding of SSTV transmissions begins automatically as soon as the start of image audio signals are detected, and the image format is automatically selected. Manual control is also available for use when receiving conditions are poor. Timing signals (phase and skew) can be adjusted to compensate for mismatches with the sending station.
Received images can be saved - including automatically as they are received. You can leave the app running unattended, and come back to view all the received images. You can review saved images, as well as send them via email, and use iTunes file sharing to transfer them to your computer. You can even share them on your Facebook page, or tweet them to your followers, directly from the app! (iOS 6 and later)
You can also transmit images, taken from your saved photos or taken with your device's camera. Text, such as your callsign, can be added to the sent image.
Buy your copy right now, and start decoding and displaying SSTV transmissions in minutes. Just set your iPhone or iPad next to the radio speaker, and watch the pictures come rolling in.
Note: If you cannot see the transmit button, go to the Accessibility settings for your device and turn Button Shapes OFF. It makes the buttons too large so you cannot see them all.
Also, It is very important to have a well tuned signal of good quality, and make sure you get the audio from your radio to your device without adding additional distortion, or auto start and mode detect will not work optimally. Please see this page for tips on using the app and connecting your radio: http://www.blackcatsystems.com/ipad/iPad_SSTV_Pad_FAQ.html
You can also use Bluetooth audio devices to feed audio into your device. Please be sure to use a good quality Bluetooth device, that does not distort the audio.

SSTV Slow Scan TV App Comments & Reviews
SSTV Slow Scan TV Positive Reviews
Great for on the go SSTVThis app is great for receiving and transmitting SSTV Images! Receiving is easy. Just set your mode (or set to auto detect) and hold your phone up to your radio’s speaker when theres a SSTV signal. I already managed to get a few images from the international space station. I wish that I was able to transmit on the PD modes, the rest work great though. I’m able to pick a picture on from my phone, add some text and then hold my phone up to my radios mic. (PS, don’t forget to check your radios timeout function if you’re using a mode that takes longer to transmit).Version: 2.0
Almost perfectWorks great for receiving even just holding near my HT on low volume. The sliders for adjusting phase and skew tend to keep moving after you lift your finger and it throws off the image. Also there should be a way to automatically save received picture data and/or the audio files. It "auto-detected" the start of a new picture and wiped out the last one before I could save..Version: 2.0
Great appThis is a great app for portable use. dont have to bring bunch of wires and hardwares. It autosaves your received images to photos folder. One issue, it sometimes changes mode in a blink of an eye and right before the sstv station starts to transmit, bit annoying, so you have to keep an eye on your phone that its in the right mode. Hopefully updates will fix and add mode lock. So far it works great..Version: 2.0
Nice program needs workI have used this program successfully for several months and am generally happy with it. The basic functions I find easy to use. I use Solocator to get pictures because it puts GPS numbers on the photo automatically and I was able to type my callsign in the same font size, something I could not do in Black Cat..Version: 2.0
OkThis app should be able to send all modes like pad and “mr” please fix this and I will be satisfied but for now I’m starting to look in to other soft wares.Version: 2.0
Great fun!I use this app to decode pictures coming down from the International Space Station. It’s very convenient. I do have trouble using the sliders for skew, etc and would appreciate some sort of logarithmic sensitivity to allow fine adjustments..Version: 2.0
Good appThis is a good app I enjoy using it very much I like the challenge of getting a picture to show up doesn’t always happen but it’s fine anyway thank you very much.Version: 2.0
Works great and simple to use.App works great I’ve been able to decode several images using this method..Version: 2.0
NullThis app works great for receiving but when sending you get null in big black letters over the top of what you’re sending and there is no way to get rid of it.Version: 2.0
GreatIt’s a great app but I think it would be cool if it could automatically detect what transmission type it was but other else it’s good EDIT: please make it less sensitive it will pick up a totally silent room.Version: 2.0
It's good, but...Like the app, easy to use. I wish there was transmit capabilities for ALL modes....Version: 2.0
Sstv is cool!Solid app. Easy to use and intuitive. Have fun with sstv! I recommend for some fun entertainment for the cost of a cheeseburger👍.Version: 2.0
Great App Performs GreatI’ve captured all kind of SSTV using a hand held and a rubber duck through the speaker. Works as well as any other app or program..Version: 2.0
Crashes on iOS 13.1.2Wonderful app but please fix the crash..Version: 2.0
ISS SSTV received!Worked great getting SSTV from the International Space Station!! Just held it up next to my HT and got a pretty decent image!!.Version: 2.0
Works awesome!Made a tape measure 2m antenna and connected to my HT. Worked flawlessly just held near my radio. So pleased with the results..Version: 2.0
Works as promised! This is an amazing app! For those of us who enjoy sstv it's some surprise to see an sstv image taking form on the iPad screen. The app works well with input from the iPad mike put next to a speaker, but for the best operation it should have direct audio input. This can be accomplished using the apple iPad camera connector kit and a USB audio interface such as the iMic. As always, it helps to have a good signal to track and it doesn't hurt to know the format; Scottie 2, etc. Although with a decent signal the app can detect it. All in all, a very worthwhile use for the iPad..Version: 0
Great App!Simple and easy to use. Great for the UV5R and APRS cable.Version: 2.0
Terrific piece of work. Love it.Greatest.Version: 2.0
Almost perfectThis app decodes SSTV extremely well, even just using the microphone set next to my radio. It even did a good job when I was across the room. My only gripe is that I'd really like to be able to save the images to the camera roll so that I can text the images to my friends. It is strange that I can email or tweet or send to Facebook but I can't text the image? This app would be 5-star with that functionality..Version: 1.8
It works. This is a good app and it does decode SSTV audio (I used it to decode images from the International Space Station) but the Phase and Skew controls are way, way too sensitive on the iPhone. The slightest movement of the control can throw the image way off. From one app developer to another - you need to decrease the min and max values for those slider controls by a factor of 10 or so..Version: 1.7.0
Great App, But Can Be Greater!I loved that you took my suggestion for having the ability to Tweet and post to Facebook right from the app. Now I will challenge you more by improving the interface. It just seems so plain and uninteresting. Like with the addition to Twitter and Facebook, it's just text. Why not the logos, or buttons? Making the app visually appealing I think, it just as important as functionality. Looking forward to another update..Version: 1.5
It works wellWorks well with iPad 1, iPad 3, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4S. Application will TX/RX directly and over HF/VHF/UHF radios. I have an isolated cable on the way that connects directly to my 817ND and the iPad headset jack. I'll give it a try once it arrives. It's a little wonky on the auto-start, thus partial images sometimes = 4 stars.Version: 1.3
AwesomeI'm not into amateur radio, but SSTV is still fascinating. This app seems to work with all the modes the SSTV program on my computer can throw at it. Please add the sending of images, if it isn't too hard to implement, that would be great..Version: 1.1
Works! As stated before, it's crude, but it works. I wish the skew and phase sliders would adjust sensitivity the farther your finger is away from them like how it is in the Music app, but other than that I would say wonderful..Version: 1.3
Crude but workable. It appears to work as directed, but the interface is very crude and doesn't always respond well to rotation my device. I think people with some idea of how the tech works will find this handy, but I find myself as a newbie wanting a bit more polish and a better shove in the right direction..Version: 1.3
Needs updateWorks well for what it is but needs a refresh the mic on a iPhone is not that great also fix the word glitch large letters have 2 per picture..Version: 1.3
Awesome! The interface is a bit crude, but that's not important. It was always useful for allowing me to easily decode SSTV anywhere, but now that it can also transmit it's perfect. Good job!.Version: 1.3
Great appWorks great. Ipad interface and audio detection seems better than on my 4s. Only thing we need now is a transmitter!.Version: 1.2
Handy as a Pocket on a Shirt! All you need is this app and a radio and you can send and receive SSTV images! It's super-easy! I've got this on both my iPad and iPhone! It ROCKS!!.Version: 1.7.1
Missing buttonsMy view button is cut off and the Tx button is not on the display. Other than that it seems to work great. 5 starts when I have these buttons.Version: 1.5
Works with iPhoneThis app is a fun way to play with receiving sstv on the go. I use it with my iPhone and my daughters like to use it with their hf receivers and old iPhones we have given them..Version: 1.2
Great program. Needs retina HD supportThis is going to be used to pull images from ISS as it goes overhead and it looks to be a good solution for that. One minor quibble. It needs to be updated for Retina HD displays..Version: 1.7.0
SuggestionsPhase and Skew sliders are too sensitive.. also does not TX in every mode .. other than that great app.Version: 1.9
Please add support for Apple WatchThis app would be awesome if it was able to transmit images as well. Definitely needs an update for iOS 10..Version: 1.9
Extraordinary! This app enabled painless reception of images from the ISS - using only an HT and a tape measure beam. Easy to set up, and is supported well..Version: 1.7.0
Works very wellDoes exactly what I need and does it well..Version: 1.3
Works, but pictures all say (null)This app is really cool, and it definitely works. But for some reason, the side that receives the image always has (null) on it. I'm pretty sure that this is intentional, because I don't think that it can accidentally be transmitted with a picture that says (null)..Version: 2.0
Works but primitive, could use updateGot a few images recorded, but “auto start” resulted in losing the chance to adjust the skew/phase of the image before saving it, as somehow the app thought random ambient noise was a new image coming in. Would be nice if the raw data of an image can be saved so we can adjust those parameters after the fact (and export a finished image to Camera Roll at our leisure). Also skew has too few possible values meaning I couldn’t get it perfectly stable - it was always slightly skewed either one way or the other. Regardless of these quirks I’m thankful this app exists for iOS, making ultra-portable SSTV reception possible. Thanks!.Version: 2.0
Works Great! Worth the price.Quite enjoying this program. Only 2 things you will need to know about it. The “(null)” can be corrected when you are in the TX screen by selecting the text you wish to send. And the other I have found is when receiving photos, turn your transceiver/receiver volume up or down until you get a clear picture. 73, VA7WCJ..Version: 2.0
May need a few touch upsFor the most part, it works well and delivers a superb image quality. But it has a few issuse. 1st, The Auto start and Auto detect don't always work. Sometimes the auto start will start randomly at loud noises or for no reason at all. The auto detect will sometimes make mistakes (ex: B/W 8 or Martin M1 instead of Robot36c), or won't auto detect at all(will just start receiving image without auto detecting mode). 2nd, Phase and Skew can be touchy and hard to use on ipod. When you move either and release it, sometimes it will leap forward or backward on it's own. Also, sometimes when the Phase and skew buttons are alligned, the Phase button will not move(stuck). Also, i personaly think that the Phase and Skew buttons shoud have a reset button. I give this app 4 stars, becasue for all its faults, it is very useful..Version: 1.2
Nice! This app was very well. Basically open and it auto detects the modes. No problems. Works Great!.Version: 1.8
Exactly as describedI used this app until my iPad battery died out. I just left it sitting next to a pair of headphones playing back 14.230MHz and captured a wide array of SSTV images in a number of modes. I also used it to validate the audio I was generating from some software to do SSTV transmissions and it was very useful to just have it sitting there picking up each new playback of the audio. It is straightforward and doesn't do the things like auto-slant, but all the controls you need to work with received images are there and easy to use..Version: 1.1
