PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit - Potter Positive Reviews
Peter RabbitThis has been the best program I’ve ever used. I’ve used it with all my grandchildren from Little to now grown to be 23. I’m still reading it to Evie, who is now five. She has been able to read some of the words as sight words. thank you for creating this program and hope you create more..Version: 1.8
My kids love this bookWe’ve been very pleased with this interactive storybook. Both my kids ages 4 and 1 like reading this and it works great on all of our devices, iPads and iPhones alike. We’ve had it a little over a year now..Version: 1.8
Beautiful app!My grandchildren LOVE this. I’ve had it on my phone and iPad for at least 8 years and it never gets old. The classic music and the exquisite British accent of the reader make this especially endearing. Thank you to the creators of this, and to Beatrix Potter herself!.Version: 1.8
Love it as adultAs a Beatrix Potter fan, I love that your interactive book stays true to her charming art. I saw that British fans get two books. When will Benjamin Bunny come to American audiences, please??.Version: 1.8
Great app!My 4 year old grandson loves this app. It does not freeze up for me. He loves that there are things he can do-make the animals make sounds, make the leaves bigger-very sweet, and brings Peter to life!.Version: 1.8
Great Interactive BookMy 14 month old granddaughter love this book, and so do I. We especially love squishing the blackberries..Version: 1.8
Lovely little appI would give this a 5 if it didn’t quit unexpectedly from time to time, but this app had become a frequent request at bed time..Version: 1.8
My first and favorite appThis was on of the first apps I ever got. Still love it!.Version: 1.8
Wonderful!My young one loves this book!.Version: 1.8
No sound…When I use read to me.😔.Version: 1.8
Preschool Grandson Loves This!I have been amazed by how much my 3 1/2 year old grandson loves this app. He uses it every time we see each other. He loves being able to touch the illustrations and have berries and leaves pop up out of the pictures (he has fun "squashing" the berries, too), or have the characters make little sounds. He enjoys using the sliders to manipulate the illustrations, and he also likes to be able to tap individual words in the text and hear them spoken individually. Now when his parents sit down with the "real" book, he insists on doing the "reading" himself-complete with the British accent he hears in the app ("Peetah")! The music that plays in the background while the app is in use is a beautiful bonus, too! Really quite extraordinary..Version: 1.5
PopOut! The Tale of Peter Rabbit for iPod Touch (4g)I first noticed this app in the iPhone App of the Week menu in the iTunes store. The concept looked neat, so I was eager to buy the book. However, I noticed that while reviews of the app's performance on the iPad were full of praise, some reviews for the iPod version were less recommended. Apprehensive at first, I finally summoned up the neccessary courage and clicked "3.99 Buy App." The story is faithfully reproduced in a digital format. All of the pictures that I remembered pouring over as a child are there, each in high resolution. In addition, the characters will giggle, hum, mumble, or jiggle around if poked. Two pages in the story will even spew out leaves and blackberries, if the leaves or blackberries are touched. The storyteller reads in a very pleasant, easy to follow voice, and will repeat a word if the word is tapped. As a final touch, classic pop-up book elements like sliding characters and spinning-wheels are also included. However, the app does have its weak points. As other reviewers have noted, it was designed with the iPad in mind. Therefore, the pictures do not look as stunning on the iPod Touch's 3.5-inch screen as they would on the iPad's majestic 9.7-inch one. The most difficult thing about the whole app is having to tap the bluberries or the leaves more than one to get them to pop out of the picture and onto the page. All in all, I would encourage anyone this app. It really is not as bad for the iPod as some have made it out to be. My family and I like it very much, and for only 3.99, it is a worthwhile storybook app for any app fan to purchase. I definitely recommend it..Version: 1.2
One of the best app I've boughtThis app is superb! From beginning to end this app has been an absolute joy! The voice-over, the animation, it's all so well done that it puts every other book on the iPad to shame. My daughter loves the book and we both enjoy the multiple levels of animation on nearly every single element. A week later and we're still finding new things to enjoy. I'm always touting apple products, especially the iPad, and this has now become one of the apps I use to sell other people on this great device. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for other products from this developer!.Version: 0
21st century storytellingI have purchased a good number of interactive books for the iPad, but the PopOut! Peter Rabbit book is by far the BEST implementation I've seen so far for a children's tale. This could be used as a flagship demonstration of what the future holds for our children and interactive stories. I hope Loud Crow Interactive releases Benjamin Bunny, Nutkin, Two Bad Mice and Tiggy Winkle at a minimum. Beatrix Potter would be VERY proud of the effort put forth here. Each page is finely crafted, the music is delightful, and the speaker's voice is enchanting. If you have children (mine are 2 and 3), you really should consider purchasing this unique and groundbreaking iBook. Wonderful!.Version: 0
Marvelously MagicalSuch a beautiful book in it's original form, this PopOut version takes the quaint and charming story to a whole new level. The level of interaction is perfect; very subtle, yet with exquisite execution. The book truly comes alive with the combination of alluring and engaging visuals with the delicate music, sound effects and calming voice of the English narrator. This is more than a book, it's marvelously magical. Many congratulations to the creators, please continue to produce more captivating and interactive experiences such as this so that the imaginations of both young and old can continue to burn brightly together..Version: 1.5
So well done...I have always loved the Potter stories and they are a part of our family's culture. My 19 month old grandson (who is quite a livewire) will sit for long spells on my lap while we read from our big book of "Tales of Peter Rabbit and His Friends". This app tells the story of Peter (and allows grandpa to tell it his way, too) in such a peaceful and engaging manner. Claire de Lune is the gentle "soundtrack", and there are so many things to play with on each page, every reading of it is different. Very well done-we look foward to more stories soon!.Version: 0
Highly recommendedI have numerous book-type apps on my various iOS devices for my child. She has come back to this one daily since I bought it whenever she gets ahold of my phone or iPad. Beautifully done in every regards from the reader's voice to the background music. The best part is that it works perfectly on phone/ipod and iPad so we always have it with us on some device! (I love not having to buy multiple versions for different platforms).Version: 1.1
Gorgeous and engaging even for little onesWhether my just-2 son is half-listening to the story or not, he loves messing with all the little animated treats on each page. As he gets older hopefully he'll pay attention more. The words are highlighted as they're read, which seems helpful for beginning readers. I never feel guilty or embarrassed to have my toddler playing with this app in public. :) great buy & highly recommend. I'm going to look for other book apps by these developers..Version: 1.7
Excellent!I decided to try this despite the mixed reviews. It worked perfectly on my iPhone 4 and I cannot wait until later tonight to experience this with my five year old! I remember this book as a child and this is a great new way to experience this book! I will definitely consider any other books that are available in this format in the future. Wish it was a bit cheaper but no complaints otherwise.Version: 0
Nice but could be betterI like it a lot but wish it had more interactive activities instead of only the story. The interactions are great - especially the blackberries but many sounds and movements are repetitive. It just seems expensive for it's limitations. It is very well designed but needs a bit more additions. This is a common problem with books apps. Peter Rabbit is more expensive than most but has a bit more to offer within the story..Version: 1.5
Wonderful appThanks so much for this wonderful app. I loved Alice for iPad, but this book takes it a step further. It keeps the original book in place, but with nice additions to it. From page 32 until page 40 the text trembles. Is this a bug? Will you be adding more features to this app? A little biography about Beatrix Potter would be nice in the opening screen. I would love to see more books like this! Keep up the good work!.Version: 0
Multiple teaching opportunitiesLoved the book on iPad and then loaded it on 2 of my kids ipods. No crashing problems as of yet. The kids have fine motor skill problems, and they practice a wide variety of skills throughout the book. They are also dyslexic, so the option to have it read to them reinforces their word recognition. It is nice to see them so engaged with a classic..Version: 0
Fantastic BUT can you add option to mute the music? - FIXEDUpdate: They fixed the issue :) 5 stars! Original comment: REALLY well done but the music is too much especially for those practicing reading. The balance with the spoken word volume is off too as it can often require pressing the word a couple of times to hear the narrator if the reader is stuck on a word. Obviously you can just mute the sound but then you miss out on the sound effects which add a great deal of charm to the experience. Hopefully this is an easy change, or if its in there already and I'm just missing it someone can point out to me where I can mute the music I would appreciate as its not jumping out to me at the moment..Version: 0
Unique & SpecialI wanted to take some time to really congratulate someone for developing a beautiful way to read books again with our children. This app showcases how enjoyable listening, reading and interacting with a digital book should be. I can't imagine why any parent would be disappointed with this purchase. I hope many more to come--thank you..Version: 0
More Beatrix Potter!! We love it!This is one of the BEST versions of Peter Rabbit out there. The narration and the background music are wonderful additions to the OUTSTANDING animations; which can low-key/ automatic or really animated/manual. So...what are you going to do the next in the series of Beatrix Potter stories? My family voted for The Tale of Two Bad Mice or The Tale of Samuel Whiskers, but I would like to see The Tale of Benjamin Bunny or The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin. Thanks again for such a lovely storybook..Version: 1.2
An absolutely gorgeous app!!I bought this app for my grandson but have found that I enjoy it just as much as he does! The app is fun, enchanting and truly takes you into Peter's world. I love the pop-out features, the blackberries are my favorites (I love to squash them :). Congrats for the great job you do on all your apps Loud Crow. I have bought them all so far and am eagerly awaiting your future apps..Version: 1.3
Too Cute!!This book is adorable!! Not only did my four year old son love this book, but my nine year old daughter loved it too. I also like the option of reading it yourself or having it read to you - that way, my four yr old can read by himself - all the sounds are a bonus as well. I'd love to see more book titles done this way..Version: 1.4
My four year old LOVES this!My son has been picking out Peter Rabbit for me to read to him every night for 2 weeks, so I decided to buy this app. He is so entertained by it that I keep having to tell him to hold on while I write this review. The music is lovely, the sounds are so happy, and yes, the blackberries are pretty darn wonderful. Runs smoothly, a beautiful story book, worth every penny! Now I'll return the iPad to him. :).Version: 1.6
Stunning!Tried this on my iPhone 4 - what a lovely book app! The illustrations/interactions are engaging without being distracting, and it's wonderful that the story can be read aloud or by individuals (with a handy, touch-activated word pronunciation feature). The only (very minor) issue is that some interactions are so small it's hard to activate them on an iPhone - I imagine they work just fine on an iPad..Version: 1.5
I'm an adult and I love this book!I keep this little gem on my phone so any time I'm stressed out, I just pop it open and in a few minutes I find myself smiling at this adorable book! Of course the children and parents love it, but I am not ashamed to say this 57 year old lady can appreciate the beautiful work that went into making this wonderful app!.Version: 1.7
Love it!My five and two year old BEG to "read" this book, and I adore it. British accent is delightful, animation is super fun--I want to make the berries big and then smash them right with the kids. I have read this story in book form to my kids a thousand times, and am grateful to let someone else read it now, and make it fresh again for me! Thanks!.Version: 1.5
LOVE it!I was a bit nervous considering some of the reviews but I had no "issues". This is a fantastic app. At all times you can have a diversion that will keep a child entranced for quite some time. It is also fun for adults! The narrator is great and the sound effects will make you smile. Get it...and show it to a kid on Christmas morning..Version: 1.1
Wonderful!!!!My 16 month old grandson couldn't wait to see what the animals did next!!!! Engaging and beautiful....my only issue is he's at the phase where he wants to turn the page before you're done and I couldn't figure out how to go back a page without leaving the screen and going to the full menu display! He has long arms so for him to see the illustrations he's got to be close and he's QUICK!!!.Version: 1.7
What ebooks should be!I saw this app long before I got an iPad. It was one of the first things I put on mine when I got it. Great interactivity, great replay value. It really shows the potential that ebooks have vs traditional books. My 4 year old loves this book and reads it almost every night. It's the app I use to demonstrate what my iPad can do..Version: 1.4
Well done! This is a sweet and simple interactive classic that is well loved by everyone in my house. My 9 year old granddaughter enjoys the story ( she had never heard of it before!) and loves the British accent of the narrator. Her 2 year old brother likes to touch the illustrations to make them come alive and worries a lot about poor Peter. Highly recommend!.Version: 1.4
Beautiful and AmazingThis app is the most beautiful creation I have seen for the iPad. You become a part of the story. The sounds are so realistic. The music is very soothing. The artwork is incredible. You can waste $5.00 at the local coffee shop or you can purchase this app. and The Tale of Peter Rabbit will always be remembered. It will take about 20 minutes to download..Version: 1.7
Best of the BestI give this 5 stars (an upgrade from the previous version that caused my iPad to crash upon opening). THIS is a CHILD'S classic and this PopUp iPad version is this Book's New "MANY HOUR's of Enjoyment " version of this book! Besides being delightful, it is durable unlike paper moving-parts children's books. THANKS FOR THE UPDATE!.Version: 0
A designer's and parent's dream appThis book is beautiful in the illustrations, interactivity, sound and polish it makes for an extremely fun experience. If you have an iPad and young kids, grandkids, neices or nephews you must get this app. I think I emjoy listening to and interacting with this book as much as my 4 and 2 year old sons..Version: 1.3
Great eBook! Beautiful! Takes up huge amount of space.Beautifully designed and displayed. My kids love it. As good, even better than, a real book. Worth every penny. Might be a problem if you have a iOS device with very limited storage. One of the biggest apps I own and I have quite a few..Version: 1.5
A great bedtime storyBeatrix Potter would be proud of this app, which has a retro feel that preserves the integrity of the original book, while using modern technology well. It is beautifully designed and the narrator has a lovely, soft voice with an English accent. The old-school, pop-up animation is modest. The music is soothing and relaxing..Version: 1.2
Newborn and up, great bonding toolI limit my newborn's screen time, but when I do, this is ideal. My parents love it as it as they are getting older and it makes it possible to share a classic story as their eye sight diminishes. And as I live in a foreign country, it gives me a resource in my own tongue and don't have to expose my baby to tv (that much)..Version: 1.7
Sweet, simple and fun!My four year old son loves reading and interacting with this book. We both really enjoy the narrator's lovely voice, and I really like the mix of older pictures in new technology. I hope there are more stories like this one coming to the iPad soon..Version: 1.4
Crashes and even crashed iPadBought, installed, tried using 4 times. It crashed each time During "start" and the last time it brought the iPad down to the apple logo restart. Not sure I'm up for trying again..Version: 0
An Amazing Reading ExperienceMy 6 yr old was captivated while reading this book. I too was fascinated! The story literally comes to life on the pages of the book. I can't wait until the next book is available..Version: 0
