Virtual Night Vision combines powerful image enhancement, camera control that lets in up to 15x more light, powerful 8x zoom and many fun effects like thermal imaging, green mode, binoculars and more.
It won't work in complete blackness because the iPhone lacks special night cameras, but Virtual Night Vision works in pretty dark conditions. How dark? It depends on the iPhone but moonlight is enough. On any iPhone it will still work when the iPhone Camera app only sees black.
How does it work? It uses a live camera view and special photo enhancement techniques to boost light levels, plus 3 special camera modes (Fast, High and Max). Fast produces good results when you’re on the move, Max produces amazing results when you’re still, and High is balanced between the two.
And you can take HD photos with enhancement and effects.

Can be betterI've been wanting to have easy access to night vision for a long time, and this app kinda succeeds but mostly fails. Whenever I turn the lights off, the picture is almost complete black, no matter what setting you're on. And the enhancement and zoom features don't work at all, also there should be a brightness setting, because once again; the picture is almost unseeable. If they release an update to fix all the things I've listed, then I could accept that..Version: 2.5
Just a correctionYou are mistaken about night vision in total darkness being impossible with iPhone. They invasively run ir light retinal scans as part of “facial recognition”. An IR STROBE which is more than capable of supporting night vision filters or integration which unbeknownst to you is how your phone opens when you look at it in complete darkness try it sometime. Don’t touch your phone just set it in front of you. Have a security camera that has night vision watch your interaction with the phone. Then just look at your darkened screen. Don’t touch it just look at it. You’re assuredly going to be both impressed and appalled. Mostly appalled. Your retinas are more unique than your finger print. Think about that little invasion of privacy next time you think you’re typing something in secret for some reason on your iPhone. Facial recognition is simply not what it claims to be. Night visionIncredible! Found it on my iPhone one night after I found one of my dogs using her new pillow I had gotten for her that day. It was dark with only the small tv on. After turning the night vision on the picture I took was bright, clear and perfect!.Version: 3.0

The best oneI tried about 20 different ones and on normal mode it is the best. And then I put it on max (slow shutter) and wow. The closest thing to real night vision..Version: 3.0
It worksThe frame rate is slowed down to allow better light visibility, but the image can be blurry if you move the phone too much. Turn on max power and set the phone down... Much more will be visible than with the standard camera app. It does not allow you to see any better in darkness than with your own eyes. But, if you have a IR flashlight, it should work in total darkness... Unless there is a IR filter in the iPhone camera lens. What I wanted from this app, is the ability to take video/pics in low light, as clearly as my own eyes see things. Use screenshot w/ the home+lock buttons... No video, unfortunately..Version: 2.5

Actually worksThis software actually works, but is limited by phone hardware. The filters are good, and the enhancement works but not for use in total darkness. Worth the 99¢ for photo effects. Good work developer, it will be interesting to see what next phone will do with newer hardware and updated software. Update: New hardware available. Yes it does work!This DOES WORK with low light. Even better, it works when your taking a shot of room that has shadowed/darker areas and you want what's IN THE SHADOWS to appear in your picture! THIS app does that very well. BUT they need to add a help screen to explain what the controls do etc. Such as what's the difference between the S button & the camera button?.Version: 1.5
Actually works OKI have a couple night vision apps and this appears to be the only one that actually DOES enhance/lighten your images in realtime before you take the shot. there needs to be a little light in order for it to work. I don't think the controls are self explanatory so would like a help menu within the app..Version: 1.5

AMAZING APPI use it all the time...!!!...in fact a photo taken with this app aided me in court to win a case. Works as statedI just purchased the app to try it out. It does appear to work quite well. Similar to changing the ISO speed on a DSLR. For best results you need to have the camera very steady, just like any camera in low light conditions..Version: 2.0
Cool effect, but don't expect too muchThis app does fun things with the iPhone camera, but don't expect to use it as real night vision. It needs a fair amount of ambient light to work properly.
