AutoNavi used to be the best English GPS in China for English speaking foreigners. I have lived here for 10 years and when I received my drivers license and car, I used it exclusively. Then suddenly it stopped working and would default to this Amaps with No English option and I cannot use. I now started using Apple maps or Waze as only English options I have been able to find. I really wish Amaps would bring back the English version, as it used to be the best English GPS here in China. So, I have to vote 1 star as I cannot vote no stars, as it is not giving me that option. Please Bring Back English Version!!!

I’m a big fan of this app. Was actually introduced to it because one of my favorite actors (Wang hedi) is their sponsor. I’m visiting China for the first time in 7 years and having this app is absolutely life changing going around. I’m able to find recommended sites, restaurants, order taxis, and even got tickets to the movie for a much cheaper value. I wish something like this existed in the States. Also love using the friends and family tracker. Honestly this is THE must have app in China. I will be recommending this to everyone who plans on traveling to China anytime soon or in the future.

The app is constantly innovating with different techniques to make it easier to navigate. And it also has tips for bikers, mopeds, driving cars, trucks (I never tried that!) and walking. Unfortunately it follows the concept of Chinese UI that they interfere usability with novelty. It would be a pleasure to avoid having splash screens and a decluttered interface. But so far it’s the best in China by far.

Works flawlessly with Tesla, but check the language and units. The app itself is great and integrates perfectly with my Tesla Model S and Model Y. The navigation is accurate and reliable. However, there are two significant drawbacks for English speakers: 1. Language: The app defaults to Mandarin upon installation. It's a bit confusing to navigate the menus to find the language setting and change it to English. The developers should really implement automatic language detection based on the phone's settings. 2. Units: The app only displays distances in kilometers. It lacks an option to switch to miles, which can be inconvenient if you're used to the imperial system. If the developers can address these two points, this would be a 5-star app.

7 years of living in China and still continuing, and this app works like a lifesaver. However, some features doesn’t work in the English version such as favorite lists of saved locations doesn’t appear. Hope the developers will fix that. Other than it’s a 10 on 10.

I like this map app a lot. It’s very easy to use and even shows traffic flow. I also like that it tells me the temperature and pollution index all on the same app. It has become my go to app after using others since moving to China last year. Highly recommend!!

The subway maps tell you how crowded the trains are at the moment, seems pretty cool huh? But it's a lie! When it says 30% occupied, it's actually >50% packed and nowhere to sit down. If you're going to have this function then make it right, otherwise take it down and stop fooling your users.

It's my first time in China, so it's very easy to use if you know a little bit of Chinese characters. It has a performance that overwhelms other navigation systems. However, it would be nice if it were available in other languages, such as English. I'm Korean, so it would be nice to have Korean language support.

This map app is almost as good as google map with some unique convenient features for China, such as real-time public bus schedules displayed, and etc. You will definitely need it when you don’t have VPN to access Google map in China.

There must be English language settings for the people who can’t read or speak Chinese, hope also it has the world maps this will make it the best maps app in the world.

Great app includes a lot of functionalities. Map, ordering rights, discounts in merchandise. Like all other good applications in mainland, it collects more than enough information for enabling features.

The experience of using the software in China is better than using many GPS systems used in the US. It is undated constantly to catch the new construction on the road. Not sure if it has an English version for non-Chinese speakers though.

Downloaded the app for the coming trip to China, as I hear it has English version that would suit people not living in China. But how can people not living in China and not having a Chinese phone number register on the app?

I used it a lot when I spent my vacation in Beijing. It is amazing that I can still rely on it in my hometown, a small town in Liaoning province. It would be perfect if saving pic option could include the walking route while selecting public transportation.

It's accurate and keeps adding new features. Currently just add ebike route. Recently it does not display the road names when I select the bus route. Pls display the road name instead of 50m, turn left, 100m turn right!

Just like it. They are really doing serious job to make better map. You can feel it when using that.

3D view clearly outlines which lane to go, and the voice guidance is also much more detailed than Google Maps

Fantastic map app for visiting China. Loved the transit specific features and walking navigation. Would like if you could set custom categories for saved locations or set different icons instead of just a star. Would be easier if I could set a different icon for hotel, restaurant, shopping, etc. so I could plan my trips better.

It was good at first. Then after a while it would gradually start showing “no internet connection” when I try to open the detail page. Instead it will redirect you to the log in page.(the internet is perfectly fine the whole time) And then after the app learned that I don’t need the detail page to do my basic search, it will show “no internet connection” when I perform any basic search. I totally understand that you don’t have the access to certain functions when you don’t log in, but this is disgusting because it could be dangerous when someone is out there and suddenly the navigation stops working. In my case l had a Chinese number before, but at the moment I simply can’t register with my foreign number. Apparently all this company wants is to collect your personal data.

Pan Hong, the one who abused and killed dogs. But the app choose to invite him as an ambassador and use the abused dog as a logo. 1. Edit: a recent update has made my saved locations not show any info no more when you click on them. It now just goes to the log in screen which I can’t use since I have a foreign number. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I would love this app if you would make it so foreigners could log in with our own phone numbers. Or at least allow us to link our WeChat or Alipay accounts without having to use a Chinese phone number. When that happens I’ll give 5 stars. I travel to China once a year and it would be nice to be able to log in and not lose my saved places.

As a loyal user from mainland China, Amap has always been my favorite navigation app. It has guided me through so many places over the years, and I’ve always loved it — especially the different voice navigation options! But after using it in the United States, even though it’s now barely usable here, there are still two major issues I really want to point out. First: a huge number of addresses simply cannot be searched or navigated to because they’re not in the system. Second: there’s no convenient switch between kilometers and miles. In the U.S., all road signs and speed limits use miles, so using kilometers is really inconvenient while driving. I’ve tried contacting the Amap team through different channels many times, but unfortunately I never got any response.

I got multiple experience of morning online driving requests especially in Shanghai which were tricky. For instance, the first request usually not went through, the online system said needs more drivers and pricing went higher. The solution what I responded was turn off my cellular and boosts it accordingly, make a complete new request, then the situation became normal. Thank you for your understanding.

I am appalled to see that this platform has failed to take action against an influencer involved in animal cruelty. Instead of banning their account or addressing this issue responsibly, it appears that the platform continues to support them by allowing them to remain active. Such behavior is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the platform's ethical standards. Supporting or ignoring cruelty goes against basic human decency. I urge the company to take immediate action to remove this individual and demonstrate a commitment to animal welfare and ethical content.

Every time I want to search something near the destination, it automatically jump to the current location, only gives the result from where I standing. And there is no option to change this behavior. Also, tons of non-cancellable advertisement stop you from immediate search. This map use to be the best navigation app in mainland China, but now it’s ruined by others useless functions,like pop up ads above the map.

As an international user of Amap (English version), I really appreciate the accurate maps and reliable navigation. However, there is one important feature missing: there is no option to change or select different navigation voices/voice packs in the English interface. Currently, the app only provides a single default English voice, with no way to switch to other voices, accents, or custom voice packages. This limits personalization and user experience, especially for long drives or frequent navigation use. I kindly suggest adding a voice selection/voice pack management feature to the English version, just like in the Chinese version. This would greatly improve usability for English-speaking users and make the app more competitive. Thank you for your hard work and consideration!

Very disappointed that all the data on the app disappeared when I login to a new phone and then log in to my old phone 100+ cities‘ driving / payment histories all gone Customers service are irresponsible and fail to provide any meaningful support This is an app that owns your privacy !!! Payment account ! Hotels and home informations! All the routes of palaces you frequently visit ! I’m very concerned and confused that they overlook the data and account securities !!!!!

I have found that the traffic information is updated well and the navigation function is the best I have used in China. Comparable to Waze in the USA. However, while Waze offers Chinese as a language option, this app has no English option available. As such, I deducted 3 stars from my rating. Developer, please consider learning how to add an English option to your app.

I find there is no place on the CarPlay screen that I can turn off the navigation volume not like Apple map has a button on the top left. And even I turn off the volume in the App after unplug in, I can make mute for the navigation but still some notification sound there which is annoying. Last, after I turn off, it will still turn next time when I connect to CarPlay.

1) If you accidentally select Chinese after installation, you will have no hope of changing to English in the settings with Chinese text. Must uninstall and reinstall. 2) Routing options are horrible. If you enter the exact address, the app will not recognize it. You must select a nearby company and go there instead.

I have one bad experience that tops all the map application. To make it short, I searched a location in the software and based on the result made a car reservation. It turns out that it sent me to the complete opposite direction. Contact them afterwards and it first turned the responsibilities to the car company and then to the Apple company. I suggest Apple make an investigation to see it this developer steal your IP or use your service without your knowledge.

Please allow phone number outside of China. This is a necessary app for maps in China but not foreigner friendly because it requires a Chinese number even if you connect WeChat to it… since you make the effort to make English version, please allow us foreigners to create accounts

This app constantly asks u to log in even if u are just trying to navigate from A to B. I get that certain functions can only be unlocked to logged in users, but this app does not need to urge users to login when using this app for navigation. A disgusting feature that should be removed in the future.

Very disgusting app, partnering with Pan Hong, an influencer with a criminal record known for abusing dogs under the guise of dog training, for voice navigation. They've disturbingly turned the image of a husky that died from horrific abuse, specifically capturing the moment it was cruelly spun like a hammer, into a car marker, callously trivializing the suffering the dog endured during its life.

From forcing you to login in the middle of your trip (costing you money as you have to pay for a day of international texting) to the in app mute not actually muting the app requiring you change your system volume (hope you don’t want to listen to music or literally anything else requiring audio)

Horrible! Booked the ride-sharing the night before, can’t get any ride waited another 1 hour in the morning, can’t get any ride, late for work!!! Then I downloaded 花小猪，I got a ride for the same price immediately! Never going to use Amap ride-sharing anymore! Waste of time!!!

Why can’t people bind their American phone number? They can do Canadian numbers. America is right next door to Canada. Same with Mexican phone numbers. It makes zero sense. I used to be able to use AMap without binding my phone number. Now I constantly get pop ups saying that I need a to bind my phone number. Why does AMap always say “the network seems to have deserted? It says this even when connected to WiFi, Please fix these issues. Americans should be able to bind their American numbers. AMap should work with connected to WiFi.

There is long-term construction in my area. I have spoken with customer service 4 times about it now. they update the map for one day and then the next day it goes back to telling drivers to use the road that is blocked off. It’s such a terrible experience. I will stop using this app.

Get rid of these popup apps when the map is launched. They are extremely annoying when you are in a rush to get a navigation.

Why does a map app have to befuddle its users with such an enormous and mostly unnecessary UI? The map part is excellent, be that as it may, the rest are just a whole bunch of things that more befits a travel app. To cram all these into it, the developers are really doing some self-defeating work.

Awful navigation when heavy traffic presents. It kept directing us in circles in the name of avoiding traffic. We ended up detouring for over an hour and half in Chengdu urban area and felt extremely confused and frustrated..... In the middle of one trip, it led us to a one lane secondary route due to heavy traffic on the main one. Somehow, after following the new direction for 15mins if not more, suddenly its algorithm asked us to make a U-turn to go back to the original.....and we thought we somehow missed a turn which we did not.... TBC.....

App says it’s supposed to be “in english” but when you try to select english, it gives the error message “The system does not support it for the time being, Xiao Dezheng Striving to improve” (translated by Apple). 系统暂时不支持，肖德政 which is pretty much useless and misleading by the developer and Apple that this map actually works in China….

It happened in China recently, the person caused a lot of anger in the society, but Gaode never apologizes for that voice pack.

I made an account successfully with my email before and now it booted me out… I can’t make an account or login with my phone number, email, WeChat, apple account, or anything. I’m in Canada with a Canadian phone number. Plz help!!

This app is mostly useless to find businesses as it doesn't show any pictures nor characters. It also repeatedly asked me to sign in with a chinese phone number, and it uses AI to translate everything (it's not accurate at all).

App上预约打车服务赶早上飞机。早上司机没有出现，打电话给客服和司机都没有回复。直接导致误机。机票损失1200元，但是高德只愿意赔付300元。 垃圾。

You install app than app ask you do you want to switch to English and you select yes but app never changes to English when you open.
