QualityI got this very recently. I was just messing around with the presets, and I could feel my phone vibrating. I thought the keys had some kind of haptic feedback or something, no, it was simply from the sound coming out of my iphone speakers. AnimoogAnimoog’s priority is not set for the iOS world yet, and I hope they take on more projects for iOS in the future. Audiobus doesn’t work for me with Animoog. However, this is the best synth I’ve come across so far at the price. The quality is amazing. no problems with latency or connection issues with midi. It’s a beast. The problem that bugs me the most is that the iPad version cost like 20 bucks or something. The price is somewhat high for the iPad, but realistically it deserves that price. The bar has just been raised againAnimoog is the gold standard of iPad apps for synthesizers, now that high level of control and articulation can be compared to other iPhone synthesizers. In other words, animoog will make both other iPad and iPhone synthesizers look bad. Not that everything is a competition, but it's hard to feel like you get your money's worth on a fart piano when can buy animoog at .99$. Yes, I will be comparing cost and value, sound, ect of all other apps to animoog for the foreseeable future. I have been using animoog for iPad almost daily since it was released, and I expect the same now that there is an iPhone version. Alert to developers: Now it is necessary for a serious mobile midi sequencer to be developed, genome mobile would be first on my wish list. However I have tested and sequencing does work with virtual midi currently, and Audio copy is also working (there were issues initially with the iPad version). One request for both animoog mobile and iPad version, if it is possible to assign cc values please include in the manual where cc values are assigned to by default. But as far as I can tell cc values are ignored. That would be my only issue if you could call that an issue. Buy it buy it buy it. There is no excuse not to..Obis11Version: 1.0.0

JUST AWESOME!I own several IOS music apps such as musicstudio, beatmaker2, Djay and now this one. I like synths always been a big fan of them but never really played with them that much until a couple of weeks ago so when I seen this app it was a must have for my IOS portable studio. This app is by far mind blowing for the quality of the sound and the design layout. I'm very picky when it comes to my music and graphic design life so the layout caught my attention right off the back as I love a professional looking software/app. Then to top it all off it sounds amazing and is super responsive to the touch. Good fun.Love this app. It is hours of fun to play around on. I do agree with others that workflow can be somewhat cumbersome. Just remember its a $2 app not a high $$$ Moog instrument and keep things in perspective. That being said you can get some really great sound out of this app and IF you learn to record/copy/paste properly you will be able to use clips with other programs. I have many many music apps on my iPhone and I use this app more than any of the others. The way that you are able to program the sounds and sound waves to your specifications is really great. There is a lot more to this app than casual users will discover. I will say that the iPad version is a bit easier to use in my opinion due to the size of the keyboard and the x / y pad, but I always have this version in my pocket and is fun to break out at a moments notice, especially if you have some decent headphones or speakers to plug into. Good synth but with some problemsAnimoog is capable of some fat sounds, its keyboard is brilliant, and its easy to experiment in a very intuitive way. I find myself using it a lot for liquid, legato soloing, but you can sequence it for some nice bass sounds as well. I've used it on two albums now, and that's a testament to its power. Drawbacks: I bought this on iPhone, and now have to pay full price again for the same app on iPad? Come on. Only company that does this, I think. MIDI as an in-app purchase is also a bit much. Also, there is a strange metallic sheen to all the sounds on this synth. Record anything and try some EQ spectrum analysis, and you will see a normal gentle roll off in the highs until you get to about 16 K, where there's some strange loud spike from there to 20k. This is true even when playing bass sounds. This can be fixed in post production with a high shelf EQ cut, but it makes me wonder what the developers thought they were doing when they included this. Mind = blownLook, I'm the last guy who'd expect to write a review for a synth app. My musical style is acoustic rock, bordering on folk. I'd rather listen to bad 90s alt-rock than good 80s pop. 61 dollar MoogAs a vintage synth collector and musician I was thrilled to see the Animoog for Ipad. Not having an Ipad I called my brother and told him to purchase it being that it was only .99 cents and only a fool would pass up the chance at moog anything for this price. He purchased and was instantly hooked. The smile on my face was ear to ear when I discovered that Moog released a version for the IPhone. I purchased it of course for the .99 cent inroductory price and also purchased a Akai Synthstation 25 for 50 USD. WIth the addition of the Midibridge app (10 dollars USD) I was off and running with a 3rd Moog synth to add to my studio. I own a Moog Prodigy as well as a Source and I have to say that this apple also did not fall far from the tree. What a great company. What a great product. Needs UI workIt's a great synth, but the user interface needs a lot of work. The touch tracking is perfect on the keyboard, but terrible everywhere else. Knobs, controls and menus are difficult to hit, and don't follow iOS conventions. It's a desktop-style interface, itself an imitation of a physical interface, and it doesn't work well on a touchscreen. The whole paradigm needs to be rethought. In the meantime, improvements to the ease of hitting controls would go a long way. I get the impression that the developers only used this in the desktop simulator and not on an actual iPhone most of the time. The interface is just right for a mouse, wrong for the touchscreen It could also use some documentation for those new to XY synths. A lot of fun to play, frustrating to adjust. Trippy PartiesI got this. I do love it and here's what I think after a week. Easy to play right away. Awesome. A Lot can be learned so u will begin to either live it more as u uncover the new features or less probable you will get overwhelmed. Best app ever madeThis is amazing! As a producer Animoog is one of the most exciting pieces of gear I've bought in awhile. And for .99! I spend 100's, 1000's on gear. Intuitive with wonderful soundVery gorgeous app - it really makes you wonder about the possibilities of using ones phone or pad to create music. There is something very fluid and human about this little synth, and a lot of it has to do with how one uses it. The ability to glide over notes and modulate the sound with swipes of your fingers as you're playing makes this truly a unique instrument. Imagine a hardware synth like this. Down sides being its lack of decent recording options, quantization etc. Basically I want to be able to export a track and use it with another app in my phone, and play and expand on compositions . Sickest synth app available for the iPad or iPhoneI have been using this app since day one of the iPad release and have nothing but great things to say about it it rivals some of my analog synths as well as a lot of Spectrasonics, Native Instruments, and Logic Pro virtual instruments. The only problem with this iPhone version of the app is that you have to force quit the app and then relaunch it in order to get sound after you close the app, however I am sure this will get fixed very soon. Moog Maxed Out !!My very favorite synthesis app, a lot of useful tweaks: all the scales (modes), presets as examples (InApp addOn), visualizer with controller, et al, symbiotically offering that original "knobs-and-sliders" immediacy to playing where it's intuitive and almost autonomous to reach out and adjust, knowing what will happen or be happily surprised by the results. With an iPad version, external midi USB keyboard (plus Apple adapter(s)), and you're set for months of hours long Jam sessions. Record, save, share (iOS 8), read the tutorial, & enjoy. There's no one way to do synth, but this does Moog well, has been out for years, and keeps working. Did I mention it sounds awesome? A diverse palette from expert designers. Still the best synth on iOS, unique soundIt gets five stars for sheer sonic power. One little thing though is that recent updates have made it almost impossible to delete a single path point. Sheer power, even for musical illiteratesMany apps that are great for professionals have counterintuitive controls that take exhaustive setup. They also produce flawed-sounding output with amateurish inputs, understandably, but not so with Animoog. There is very little that cannot be created as a base idea and then refined. I have gotten some really weird sounds that rise in pitch after you release the key. Hasn't played well with MusicStudio on a very brief Audiobus run, but no complaints. A Music Geek's DreamI'm a 52 year old user who remember's when Walter (later Wendy) Carlos created the masterful two album J.S. Bach ala Moog adaptations. Brilliant, and of course Carlos was a well respected composer of original works--some used in A Clockwork Orange and more. Seabord by RoliOne of the musical apps i use often. Very permissive to play crazy sounds. Recently i buyed a seabord controler from Roli. Make this a universal app like everyone else...I own a 3rd gen iPad and a 4th gen touch, had choice to either have a lower res app on both devices for 10$, or to pay 10$ extra to have the same interface, functionality except the keys are wider on the iphone version, and i prefer it that way. Restoring Purchases 😡Restoring purchases doesn’t seem to work. Usually when a double purchase is detected it normally says you already purchased this item. So far I only re-purchased one pack. I did receive an iTunes receipt.. which I was hoping wouldn’t happen. I’ve already purchased all the packs even for ipad. This has happened before when it was initially released and would restart purchases with iOS updates. I’ve been through it’s growing pains and can’t believe this is still going on. Used to be... “has been”This used to be one of the, if not THE best synth on iOS.. AUv3 came around and Moog dropped the ball on one of their better, most unique synths they have. Without AUv3, a bunch of inferior synths on iOS are more useful than this sonic beast. Why did Moog do this? Well, I don’t know really... but what I do know is, without an external source in which to record in, this app has seen its days. Yeah you can IAA with it but IAA hasn’t been too useful in a while, and that’s why Apple is getting rid of it. It's a fun little toy.I think of Animoog as an interactive commercial for other Moog products. It kind of puts you in there with some cool sounds and limited control to dick around with, that's about the extent of it. I own a Minimoog Voyager and I'm going to tell you this... If you think you are going to get the legitimate Moog sound/vibe from this 2$ iPhone app you are going to be seriously bummed. It does have some groovy and trippy stuff going on though. But nothing that I would call mind blowing or amazing. The copy to clipboard then paste to app situation that all iPhone music apps suffer from is the real deal breaker for me. Having to go through that stunts my workflow and makes composing unpleasant and cumbersome so using this app as an iPhone composition tool won't work for me. If you want to put tracks together I suggest Nanostudio. That is a fantastic music composing app that you can't go wrong with. Great Sounding App with too many limitations!This App is one of the best sounding synth apps out there, and yet it is so stripped down. This iPhone version has no MIDI (Shameful!), and they seem to have stuck their heads in the sand and haven't implemented audiobus into an update as of yet. Very cool… when it worksStarted playing with this app and was quite impressed, however then the sound cutout. I played around with it a little more with headphones (cause that seems to work), and had quite a joyous time. Not compatible with iOS 5 Do Not BuyPlayed through iPhone speaker ONCE! Now only plays through headphones. This was a KNOWN BUG on the iPad release that they claimed was an iPad settings issue and not moog's problem. At least on the iPad there was a workaround involving using a mute button which doesn't exist on an iPhone! DO NOT BUY THIS APP! At least until Moog stop being arrogant morons and fix THIER BUG! Verdict: Very good (for the one time it worked, unless you always play through headphones or an external amp) Addendum: Another bug. If a call comes in. The app hangs, forever!
