This app is pretty good but you have to know where you’re going in order for this app to be successful, I would like to see when it announces upcoming streets what side of the street they are on Briggs ample if you were walking along the right hand side of the street and it says Apple Street 10 o’clock it would be nice to know if it’s only on your left-hand side or straightahead of you anyway other than that pretty good app besides getting turn by turn

At first i had to get used to this app but now lately i feel naked without it, i have it always on now every time we leave home . I have a single sided newbee earpiece over the ear and it talks to me every way i go its not distracting to me its a matter of getting used to . You dont want it too loud when you are with others but for a permanently blind person having a voice taklng in your ear where you are is very nice and i dont have to ask each time 'where are we now ??' I havent used it on my own walking tho only out with my sighed wife but like i said i would miss it if i dont have it with me :) mak, love the updates got 5g now i hope this will become more precise with the new technology. Also i have not tried the indoor bluetooth yet its nowhere around anchorage as far as i know. Ok thanks makkenai

Even though the GPS is not great in my area, this is the first app I open when I get turned around in my town or need to know which train stop I am coming up to. I also used this app extensively to mark my tent and other landmarks on camping trips. This app gave me the option of being far more independent while camping. This is also the best app for identifying both the walking paths and parks along side the cafes and businesses that dot my town. I have 2 complaints. 1 The bluetooth connectivity warning should not open every time that I open the app. Once is enough. 2. The Tracking a location using the clock face or cardinal coordinates takes a lot of practice and concentration. It was very cool once I figured it out.

Love using this app, but honestly when I showed it to the pizza place that I live near, they told me that the menu was not updated and I felt silly, but I think whoever puts the menus to the places like restaurants probably needs to hear this feedback and maybe update the menu pricing by probably contacting the place of business Because how are we as blind people supposed to know what’s updated and what’s not

I'vb used this app since 2013 and I love it. The biggest problem I've run into is that it reports inaccurate addresses and street names when I make turns. The only correct information it reports for a time is the direction I'm going, and that's how I know what street I'm on. Like someone said in another review, you have to have familiarity with where you are or you'll be totally confused. I live in the San Fernando Valley in the Los Angeles area.

I’ve been using this app for years, but recently I’ve discovered other apps which can tell me on what side of the street an upcoming street is on. For instance, 350 ft. E. 1st Street right side, W. 1st St. left side or something like that. I would love to see this in Blind Square. Browsing the reviews I see others asking for this as well, so it would be quite a welcome feature. Thank you.

I bought this app yesterday, and I cannot feel happier. I really wanted to enhance my navigation skills and this app is feature rich. I am glad that this app is updated frequently, and I hope that it won't discontinue like Soundscape, because it was the closest comparison from this app. again, thank you.

The app is pretty good overall. But you have a couple bugs to figure out. Like you should update on your locations. And when you’re coming to a corner it should say what two streets you’re at. And the accuracy should be a little bit better than 16 feet.

Some Of the streets where I live have no curbs Or curb cuts. They are just flat. Blind Square always tells me when I'm coming up to one of these and keeps me safe. Only problem I have had with it ischattering, listing all of My Places, as I start walking, blocking out trabbffic sounds. A Thankful 4 rating from meffstar

I'm completely blind and love this app works perfect here in Chicago even tells me exactly where the bus stops and train stations are at thank you for creating an app that has given me my independence back I don't know what I would do without BlindSquare.

I am so looking forward to be able to use this app for indoor navigation I’m currently using Planet Fitness and it would be awesome to know where all the different equipment is more easily than the way I have to do it now

Blind Square was the first GPS app I started using it and love it. I am totally blind and would switch back to Blind Square if turn-by-turn guidance were added.

Hello BlindSquare team! This app is very helpful! While writing this review, I just got the app maybe only for an hour but I am already amazed. Awesome job! Keep this up!

This is a great app when it works. I like the flexibility of ways to be able to search, and I also like that you can add filters so that you don't have to hear about things that you don't have any interest in. I had an experience of traveling to another city where I had never been before, and while I was there, it was nice to be able to hear things like street names, addresses, and other types of information That people who can see often fail to tell me. My only disappointment with the app is that there are some plazas where the location information that they give you is not correct. I have had experiences of going into a place that I know, and BlindSquare still telling me that the place is 100 feet away. I go to this plaza often, at least once a week, so I know the information was incorrect. I have contacted the developer about this, and the person explained to me that they use their maps from outside sources. I had gone into their tools menu, and try to set the location manually. The action was excepted, but BlindSquare still insisted that I was not in the place where I knew I was. I realize this is out of their hands. I also realize that living in a small city, we're not as likely to be updated as bigger cities with more people. I think this would be a good tool, but I still think there's a lot to be said for knowing your orientation and mobility. The Thought behind the app is a great idea, and I will still continue to use it for where I can. I look forward to future updates that may help fix this problem.

The app is great and it does almost what I want, but I'm hoping to see better support for indoor navigation places in Dubai as it's currently inaccurate.

It Works better than ever now.

I've used BlindSquare for around a year. I'm getting better and better at using Simulate Location and My Places to build my mental map of intersections and points of interest where I plan to be. While I'm walking or riding, I mostly use my Braille Sense with app sounds turned off, iPhone muted, and volumes set to 0. I find BlindSquare very difficult to use in this fashion, so Ariadne GPS is my main "where am I?" app, and I love exporting places from BlindSquare to Ariadne GPS. In other GPS apps, I can make the braille display tolerably stable while I'm moving, but, in BlindSquare, I have a hard time reading and navigating the screen (using my Braille Sense) unless my GPS location is stable. At some point, I'll get into the place check-in feature, but I'm still mounting the smartphone mentality learning curve.

This app is amazing. I bought it before moving back to Northwest Portland. I've been blind my entire life, and the one thing that often bugs me about cane travel is needing to keep the running mental narrative of what street I'm at. Everyone knows your mind wanders, you're thinking about something else, work, the kids, even just something you passed by. BlindTquare alleviates this problem. But, but, but, ... There's more! I moved back into a neighborhood I'd lived in before. But one thing about being blind, you miss a lot just generally running around. I was amazed at what I found just turning on a couple of options, and having it tell me what I passed. BlindSquare is a great addition to the iOS ecosystem, and I for one am really impressed! I haven't tried turn by turn because I grew up on these streets and so I know the place, and the addressing system, like the back of my hand. Yet even for it to tell me bus, streetcar and train stops is amazing! I haven't lived here since before we had access to iOS, and now it's as though Portland just got a brand-new look, all because of BlindSquare and the iPhone!

Well, I been looking for a decent application for GPS navigation. I've had a lot of them, but this is the best one out there. Especially when you're on a city bus, and the automated announcement system is not working. This is CVS number of times. Will read out your intersections as your past. If you want, it will also read out the points of interest that you were passing. And of course you can specify the radius and what you want to search for interest. You and if you want to search for individual interest points, you can do that. All of this is supported. So, what more can you want? Perhaps turn by turn directions? Well, maybe this coming up in the new version. However, I can't say enough about this application. I highly recommend it.

I am revising my previous review which was more critical. As of the recent updates, I would highly recommend others who are visually impaired purchase and use this app for their travel needs. While this does not provide turn by turn type directions as of this writing, the location data, pedometer, and other useful features make it one of my most used apps. Also, the developer is very polite and responds promptly to any feedback.

This is the most frindly usable app. for a blind person to use. The developer has made over 15 inprovements in less then one year since the app. has came onto the marker. This app. also ties into other navigation apps., i.e. navigon, tomtom. so, you can also have navigational routs and all the Blind Square functions at the same time. I have used several apps. designed for blind and along with the apps. designed for sitted persons, and this app. is just awesome.

When you're a blind traveler traveling with Cain or dog you need an application that does not present things in maps fashion this application seems to do that and it does it quite well I highly recommend this application because not only can my dog have a leg up on where I'm going I can now have a leg up on where I'm going to

This is an excellent GPS program for the blind. It is great for walking as well as finding out what types of services are available near you. There is an email user group that provides excellent support and technical assistance, including from the developer himself. What I find most impressive, is the responsiveness of the developer to questions, comments, and general needs of the blind population. I heartily endorse this product.

This program is awesome! I was surprised to find venues for restaurants where they are available. I found this true even for a restaurant that I had had trouble getting it in an accessible for. Also, it is very easy-to-use to find busstops because each intersection is announced. Also, it connects well with my GPS which gives turn by turn announcements by sending it coordinates.

BlindSquare is not only a powerful navigational tool that is fully nonvisually accessible, it is a platform that allows optimal user control over the content, effectively placing the blind user in the driver's seat. Its great for tinckerers, if the imagination can go there, the developers want to know about it so they can take it there. Its also great for the minimalist; "just tell me where I am and where I'm going and I'm good to go. "

Thank you very much from the bottom of my beating heart: this app makes me more social, now I can do anything by myself, I can go whatever I want to go, I don't need to call my friends and asking them about the directions, really it's very very very important for every blind in this world, specially with supporting different languages ☺️👍👍

I have been planning to write a review on this app for quite some time now. From the very beginning, it has been and remains an excellent app which only gets better. Being that I'm still on IOS 5.1, I had a problem which resulted in the program crashing which I am pleased to report was patched by the Dev who was very responsive.

This is by far the best GPS system I've used it let's me know when I'm coming to an intersection so I know that some I just feel so much safer using this product I need love the simulation mode I love everything about it I definitely recommend it to everyone I am visually impaired and can travel without it I don't know what else to say but it's worth the money

This app continues to be the best blind GPS app for iOS. It seriously keeps getting better. My only criticism is the organization is too compacted, and can be fairly confusing to new converts. I hear this has already been taken to heart and will be fixed in later releases. Still, an absolute must have for those with a visual disability.

I really enjoy using this app. It has enabled me to become more independent. I use this app simultaneously with Google maps for the turn by turn directions and it is very helpful. I prefer BlindSquare for the look around information compared to Seeing Eye GPS. If you can implement intersection analysis that would makeBlindSquare eveven better.

While this is not a turn by turn GPS solution, but it does offer is some of the best features for situational awareness. Most people already know those main routes that one takes, however this app helps fills in the blanks when learning about your environment.

Although the application isn't perfect I do believe the developers making every possible effort to make improvements based on user feedback. The application should be able to offer a lot of great information to individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

I even recommend it to those who can see and want to get a layout of their surroundings while driving or multitasking. I love using this app when I'm in a taxi or with someone else. Try it, it has great features for those who can't see or are really lazy.

This app really helps you get around. I love that it tells you where everything is and where it's located. Also it has different voices from which to choose from and different languages as well. I certainly give this app an A+. It is worth every penny I paid for.

I purchased this application about a year ago. This app is wonderful in terms of navigation. However, this app does not provide navigation like other GPS such as Apple Maps. Though it is extremely helpful navigation

I think this app can beat other more expensive paid solutions out there. This is definitely the best blindness have navigation app on iOS. Definitely my favorite.

If you use this with navigon or tomtom you've pretty much got yourself a fully accessible gps sollution for your IOS device. I kid you not! Gotta love the capability of multi-tasking. This is where it actually is critical to have.

Thanks to this app; I no longer rely on others to tell me what's around me. I found more restaurants to eat at and businesses to shop at. Love it! Well worth $30

This app works really well for bus travel. The buses don't talk where I live, and it's easy to lose track of intersections as you pass them.

This is the best GPS app for blind and visually impaired persons. The cost is more than reasonable given the number and variety of features available to blind travelers.

Best gps app I've used. Walking it is most accurate.. Needs a little work on bus or by vehicle in my experience

Great app only thing it doesn't do is indicate actual type of intersection. Eg 3 way, on your left etc

This app will give you lots of information of how to get to where you want to go whether it be by Transit or some other method it is very versatile very easy to use and a pleasure dear

This app may be a tad pricy for those who are very careful spending money, but it's worth every sent. I've been using this app a lot lately, and I'm finding it very useful as it helps me find places neer me I've never knew about. I really like how you can hand off turn by turn to another app, and still keep BlindSquare running in the background while it tracks you on your route, and tells you about street information as you go. I'd have given a fifth star if it had detailed intersection information that could be turned on for those like me who want it, and turned off for those that don't. Can't wait to see what comes in the future.

Great app. The only problem I'm having is when I go to switch to another language, the voice changes, but the text itself does not.

This application provides a travel freedom for blind folks hitherto unknown in the total history of blindness. And it's all provided by one person who before the developing blind Square had no experience with blind folks. This is truly amazing!

I am a certified orientation and mobility instructor in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. I used this app in my training programs for several years with good success. Unfortunately, the app is no longer working properly. I contacted the company. They appear to have fixed one bug with the most recent update, but other problems remain. BlindSquare could no longer recognize some familiar shops and cafes that are found on google and Apple Maps. Directional headings were variable and unreliable.

I was charged for this app, even though I did not purchase it. I cannot find any way to get a refund.

This app is trying to be a better version of around meGPS, and my way However, it is doing none of them really well. This app reads to you in a non-voiceover voice locations nearby. It does a good job of using the foursquare database to find locations that are near you. However, the filtering, targeting, and other features are hard to get at. Especially, when the app is reading to you. Also, it's integration with voiceover is poor. The volumes of voices can be different, they can be reading at the same time, and other problems come up. In short, the app is hard to use, uses an unnecessary voice, and is not doing what is been designed to do. We should wait and see what happens next but this is not worth $12 right now

First, the English documentation is poorly organized, and obviously poorly translated from something else. It's hard to use given this quality of documentation. Next, the quality of the map data is rather poor; they use Open Street Map, but perhaps should have used freely available Google map data. There's no way to submit any map data corrections. It's helpful, but hard to learn and hard to use.

This APP is NOT worth the 55USD! It does not do what they say and the APP does not even work properly. The App has the wrong bus numbers and does not give door to door directions nor does it give turn by turn directions. The mute speech does not even work. The shake gestures will not give you closest transit stop. I really regret purchasing this app!
