The BEST out there!

I love this app and recommend it often! I have used this app regularly for several years and am now able to communicate with a friend from another country that would never have been possible without this app. I can speak my sentence and it types the words I am saying in English, so that I can verify that it heard me correctly before translating. This is huge, because sometimes it does not pick up my dialect correctly and I can correct it before it translates a sentence that would not make sense. Then when I hit translate, it writes the translation out in Spanish for her to read while she is listening to it speak., and vice versa. I can also very easily send her the translation in a text, by hitting send if we are not in the same room. I appreciate that the voice is very pleasant and fluid, the app picks up on grammatical cues and adds commas and periods when it repeats back what I have said, keeping it from sounding automated or computer generated, so we can have conversations without ever feeling like we are having to use a go between to understand each other. Also, many apps only offer Castellion Spanish from Spain, however this app also recognizes that Spanish from Mexico is different and has it listed as a separate language choice. Some apps give less than accurate translations, this one has always been very accurate.

Translate on the Spot

I have enjoyed Using this app several times in India , italy and am having fun with French . Gearing up for a trip . It can be a problem with out good internet connection and you don’t want to over load with long sentences . It will give back nonsense . But my friend from Japan And I had a hysterical time trying to communicate through it while we where together in India . Best to make short and simple sentences and study ahead some basics so your library is established in case your WiFi isn’t on when you actually need it . It can be really fun and also very spot on !

My love in the Dominican republic

I recently went down to Dominican republic got married I do not speak any Spanish all I had was a text translator. Then I noticed the other day they had a voice translator and now it is so much easier to communicate I could speak to her and she can speak to me in translation she was so happy to hear what I was used to text but here in her own language by voice so until I learn to speak the language this is the perfect way for us to communicate I’ll probably upgrade to some wireless earbuds voice translation system that are available soon

It keeps getting better and better, Buy it you won’t regret it 😉

The app is excellent and we hope that it keeps getting better with every update and not like other apps when they update their apps they crash or can use the features that always had in the past. Keep doing what you doing, we love the app.. So I hope you love your work as well, job well done ! Please, keep improving it like you did with the phrase book option! Thx for the hard work!

Rocks out English to Thai.

This app is really not to be believed. The voice translater is flawless with about a 98 % accuracy, the trick is to speak a little slower with accurate pronunciation. One cravat is the service in many Asian country is bad except Tokyo. So the translater only usually only works at the hotels wifi. I wish the would post all the languages in offline mode. They should realize the the eas is much larger then the west, however since they are so cool they get my five Stars! Update on this version. Still love It, still going strond.

Good Cantonese Verbal Translation

Unlike Google which has ignored Cantonese , this app has good accuracy in verbal/written English to Cantonese and Cantonese to English translation. It can distinguish between daily spoken Cantonese versus written which is a great help when using it for day to day communication. Spoken Cantonese is different than the written form and it is so nice that this company has continued to support Cantonese which is highly used throughout the world where Chinese have immigrated . And of course there is the is the Hong Kong region.

Life Saving App

I am a retail sales manager for a large Big Box retailer in Honolulu where our clients come from all over the world. Before using the app, I would resort to drawing pictures to communicate with those who could not speak English...I now just find out the customers language preference, plug it into the app and am instantly able to have a meaningful dialogue. Thank you for such a relevant app that is extremely user friendly!

JonnyHI1Version: 4.0.10
It’s pretty nice

I really like it and I think it will be helpful in the future if I am talking to someone in another language I kind of know Spanish but when I talk into the translater it says In English what I’m saying so sometimes I mess up on what I said so it’s helping me improve my Spanish the only thing I don’t like about is the voice that it talkes to you in it is just a kinda weird and kinda boring voice but otherwise it’s really cool

Great With English and Spanish

Or community is getting more and more Latino residents, many of whom have not mastered English. While I don't interact enough with them to justify the trouble it would take to become fluent in their language, this app prepares me for those situations where I need to converse with them: accidents and emergencies, ordering food in their restaurants, helping them with directions, etc. It's very accurate and easy to use.

ZenzationVersion: 3.1.5
Great App

I'm so glad I got this app. Translates easily and quickly. You can speak the word or word(s) you want to translate – in either direction – from English to another language or from that other language to English. If it doesn't understand you, it then gives you the opportunity to type in the word or phrase you want to translate. Lots of different languages choices too.

The GramsVersion: 3.1.5
Useful for Phrases

This app is good for phrases as the phrase gives the program context which increases its accuracy. For single words, I find my dictionary app more useful as it shows the various meanings of a word. One issue with the app is that it is not very accurate ‘hearing’ a female voice. I usually type phrases in or lower my voice (which marginally improves accuracy). Overall, I find this app a useful tool, but it’s not the only tool in my toolbox when I study my Spanish lessions.

RCT61Version: 4.0.10
Great app

I love this app, it’s so handy to have. The only thing I could critique is, it sometimes doesn’t register/understand what your saying. (Even if you slow way down to say it into the phone) So the translation is off.... you have the option to spell what you’re trying to say, but if you don’t know how to spell something in another language.... you’re a little screwed!!

EricaBusheyVersion: 4.0.10
A Gift to the Monolingual

Modestly priced and cleanly designed, this app does a lot and does it well. From simple sentences in spoken English, it quickly and accurately produces idiomatic text and voice translations in pleasingly accented Spanish. (Inevitably, it does less well with complex or obscure phrases, like, “ceramic art,” por ejemplo, but that is a minor matter.) If it is equally adept in all the many languages it supports, this app is a small miracle.

GoodtutorVersion: 4.0.10
I Translate and Voice he’s very versatile and easy to use

I have been using iTranslate voice for several years now and have found it in valuable communicating with friends who don’t speak English and also looking up an occasional word in Spanish since my Spanish is not 100%. It is extremely easy to use and very versatile.

The best of the translation apps I’ve used...

Helping a college student from China figure out some of the complexities of an American college, I used this app. She had one, too, and I’m betting tried lots of others. Toward the end of our conversation she this. I’m used others, in many languages, with students, and this is my favorite. Highly recommended.

Great medical app!

I am a family birth nurse, and this app is indispensable. I have been disappointed in the past with translation apps that shied away from parts of the body or obstetric related terms, but this app is awesome. At 3am when that non English speaking laboring woman comes in puffing, I do not have time for a formal translator to get there 45 minutes later! Thank you!

Great for Teachers

I am a kindergarten teacher and I have 1 or 2 Spanish only speaking students about every 2 years. I try to take a “Spanish for Educators” class every 3 years, but forget a lot of the material until I have another Latino student. This app helps fill in my gaps of vocabulary when I need to communicate with a student.

French

I went to France 🇫🇷 & was able to communicate 80% accurately during my travels. I also recommend this app when talking to parents during parent teacher conferences when no translators are available. Please more languages. I love that I can type and read what I’m saying for accuracy. Best investment.

I have used this app in Five countries. It works flawlessly and has been instrumental in developing a through understanding between those that are helping us to save lives on the battlefield and being successful in communicating with Warriors that we need to know what they are really saying. Thanks again.

Aeroscout164Version: 4.0.6
Useful app

This is a surprisingly good app, and it does a good job detecting your voice and giving the (usually) correct translations. The price is also very reasonable. Although not 100% accurate in picking up what you meant to say, this still deserves 5 stars based on its usefulness alone.

ScatterblingVersion: 3.1.5
Great App for short Mandarin Phrases

This is good for short, common phrases or sentences in Mandarin Chinese. Not always 100% accuracy, but for the modest price, it's pretty good. For common questions or expressions, you can save them in the app's Phrasebook. Hopefully, future versions will improve on accuracy and be able to translate longer sentences; maybe even several sentences accurately.

Superb! The best app ever!

I'm using it for English-Spanish translations. The speech recognition is excellent, translations are superb as far as I can tell anyway, since I'm still learning Spanish. The audio speaking of translations is good. This is one of my favorite apps, and a great learning tool for me. It's really helping me with my Spanish.

Helpful but too literal

Much better than nothing-- but it often messes up the translation from English to French because it's unable to get the context of a sentence. For example fleet (fast) might be translated as the French word for a group of ships.

Here in is the on going problem::: the Chinese all talk at once . They all talk from different parts of country ... They understand 1/3 of what each other says ...if that ! I translate is wonderful but in any ongoing conversation the translation gets lost very quickly.... then conversations start over again... not simple or easy at ! It becomes a Redundant situation ......... so conversation starts over and over and over ! No Chinese talk the same ! Thanks for listening Battle b.

Older version was significantly better

I’m semi fluent in Japanese and this app, before the complete overhaul, was great. Japanese was pretty close to native translation. Had 2 of my colleagues, fluent in French and Mandarin, test it and they said they were impressed with how close it was to native. Since the overhaul the translations are horrible. Japanese still, after a few updates, shows Chinese Roman letter, and for all three (Japanese, French and Mandarin) google translate, in all it’s horrible glory, does far better. Several words are missing and they just stick in an English sounding substitute and grammar / sentence structure is off. Unless you only want to translate a single word, don’t bother with this app until they fix it.

Could be a awesome app but!!!!

I used this app for 3 months across Europe and for the most part found it very helpful with one exception, the American flag for English. I have no problem with Americans, well except for 1, LOL. My biggest pet peeve is in order for me to translate English to let's say Italian and I have to use the American ( which uses the American flag )as a Canadian It really bothered me especially when using the app to talk to people and all they see is the American flag and more then a few times I was asked " I thought u were Canadian" . This is easy to fix iTranslate!!!!!

Translator works well

I love this translator as it seems to give more accuracy than other apps. My only comment is that I wish it was for Apple Watch as well because it is more convenient to translate on the go with your watch. I can translate one way on the watch but there has to be a way to change languages to talk back. Will you be making a version of this for the Apple Watch?

Hopeful12892378Version: 4.0.11
Great app

As an educator I love the ability to change the speed of the ‘speaker’. Suggestion- if you are committed to using a flag to represent a language (yes visual is great but pretty problematic given the number of countries any language is spoken in…) PLEASE put the name of the language under the flag. This is more UDL- everyone doesn’t know their flags- especially students!

ITranslate Voice Negative Reviews and Ratings

Not bad ... but there's better one out there

The single-language (English and .... Spanish, for example) translator/dictionaries are much better at what they do, and are less expensive or free. This one is eight dollars but gives you many idioms in one app. ; nice if you're traveling through Europe for example. Its main voice translation competitor right now is Speak & Translate ... but it's a hefty twenty bucks! S & T is slightly superior in several areas, like voice volume for instance. Yes, that's very important in a product like this because it's often being used in noisy environments. and since you're mostly listening (or asking the OTHER person to listen) to a foreign jumble of syllables, you want a higher degree of sharpness & clarity & volume coming from your tiny little smartphone speaker. The text-only version of iTranslate is free and works quite well, so you might want to check that out first before spending the $8 for the voice version.

MexCityRiderVersion: 3.1.5
Carplay warning!

This is a good translator but beware that if your car has carplay and you plug your phone in to charge it, this app will not work until you unplug it. While most apps are not “CarPlay” compatible, this is the only app I have found two cease functioning while CarPlay is activated. I have had difficulty getting the developers support personnel to understand that this is a bug and not the absence of a feature. If and when the bug is corrected I would give the app five stars because it does a very good job at translating in other conditions. March 21, Update: The developer continues to misunderstand that this is not a compaitiblity issue with CarPlay but that his app no longer functions when carplay is plugged in. I've given up trying convince them of that. One more try, If your car has carplay and you plug your phone in to charge it, this app won't work period. Unplug from the car and the app works.

😢❤️

I really like the old version before the update today because it would let you tap the speech button not only on English but on Japanese as well but now it treats it as a whole and doesn’t give you that option. I think it’s cool you added a phrasebook but I feel most people use this app to test their own speech in another language and play it back to see if it sounds similar and not as a quick handbook was predetermined phrases. Most people would say just say what you need to say in English and it will translate it through another language but sometimes that’s not the truth is it’ll translate it differently that’s why I really appreciated the button where you could say something in a foreign language and replay it back in the foreign language not your native language.

Steven_keukerVersion: 4.0
FAILING IN COMPARISON . . . IMPROVEMENT NEEDED

So far the app has done comparably the same, if not less, for simply translating voice to text as to what both Google Translate and Microsoft Translator Apps are currently able to do, however each of those are 100% FREE and contain ZERO Adds while in use. As well, they both contain far more advanced features in many ways! And I’m very sorry, but to not have the Hebrew language as one of the supported languages in your now “essential tools” section? I’m sorry, but that is what has dropped my rating to the 2 STARS you have received. I paid for this App, and until improvements that are certainly necessary are made, that’s where my rating will remain.

TheBeardedHuntsmanVersion: 4.0.9
Works but will not be used due to flaw

It works pretty well. Will not be using this though because switching between two languages that are being actively used, is not as simple and fast as tapping a button to switch between them. Example: speaking in French and output in German. Will then have to do many steps to switch to speaking in German and outputting in French. Should just be one button that does this for you like on other translators.

Charges you for what it does not do

I have worked in video and sound for over 30 years. There is no language that I have played back for this application, including close-microphone ADR sound that this application could translate. I even tried it on my Spanish-speaking neighbor, a native Colombian who speaks flawless Spanish. I speak both Spanish and English. I could hear and understand my neighbor. iTranslate did not hear or understand her at all. We’re not talking CarPlay here. Either there is something completely wrong with how I was trying to use the app, or there is something non-functioning in the app. The iTunes Store charged me for a two-month subscription. The app offers iTranslate Pro for a year. But, if the developers really want to sell this app, I recommend that it not charge anyone until there has been at least one successful translation. I spent a good four hours trying to get one. Not recommended.

Would be ok if i can actually use it

Paying a subscription for what? Reviews made it seem good and I really was looking forward to trying it myself. But when I open the app and selected my languages, it wanted access to my microphone. Seems reasonable right?? So I’m pressing allow and it forwards me to settings but there’s not even an option to allow the microphone or turn it on. So I’m going back and forth between the app and settings trying to figure out how to allow it. How can I grant access to something that’s not even there

Disappointed

I find this app lacking intuitiveness. Toggling from voice to written translation can be difficult and the app did not work consistently in the same manner over time (most difficult in attempting to work with written translations). The speak and translate part did work much better. Very good at understanding dictation and making the translation. If you wish to make translations writing instead of talking, find another app.

Vascillating Incorrect/Correct translations across your apps

Vascillating correct/incorrect translations appear frustratingly too often in your Speak app, and with every try, the translations get worse in Speak when trying English to Hebrew, yet in your other 3 iTranslate apps, translations are fine on the first try. How can that be? Don't all your apps use the same core system dictionary?

App was Very Poor in Kiev

App was almost worthless in Kiev, Ukraine as well as Google Translate. When I tried to use it by translating English to Russian, the Russians Told me through a human translator that the translations were sloppy at best. A number of the translated words did not convey the meaning I was trying to have translated, I.e., the Russian translation was NOT what I wanted translated. It got to the point that one of the Russian women would no longer even listen nor look at any translation app I had. Could not use it any longer. Totally unreliable.

Poor customer support response

I have three messages to support and have received mo response. This app sometimes takes 2 to 4 minutes to respond. Very frustrating when trying to have a conversation. Works terrible when traveling in a vehicle even with a LTE connection. I have been using this app for 4 months now in Mexico. Sometimes it works great.

Just needs a couple of things

The transition aspect is pretty good. Good enough to me to use at work and feel fairly confident with the output. But I am a rather big guy and it only comes in a woman’s voice. Give me an option here. If another translation app gives me this I will just fit this

Poor ability to translate in real time

I tried using this app to translate German to English in real time. It would listen to entire 1 minute of conversation and come back detecting only one word...like eins (a), und (and), or frau (woman or Mrs). This app is useless for detecting a conversation. There is no “Manage Subscriptions” link in the settings (and it doesn't show up on my managed apps in iTunes so now I have to go hunt down how to unsubscribe so my 3-day free trial doesn’t turn into a $3.99/mth hit.

Great but…

I think that this could be a very useful tool but at the same time I wish it had more languages like for example it has Spanish but Mexican Spanish and Guatemalan Spanish are decently different languages and also English USA is somewhat different from English Canada so I feel like it could use some more diversity but other than that it’s a great app

All it says is it can’t understand

Totally useless. I needed to translate a discussion in French to English and it did not capture one solitary word. Zero noise background, the presentation speakers in the video were very clear and at substantial volume. How do I cancel the trial? Other free apps could transcribe.

Works Well but tries to scam

Once it’s set up, the app works well but it makes setup confusing to try and get you to sign for its paid version. I accidentally bought it and am having a hard time finding how to avoid their monthly charge.

Temps de réponse

Le temps de traduction vocale est lent. Ça ne permet pas d’avoir une discussion plus rapide avec l’autre. La traduction écrite n’est pas si exacte. 😕

Why are all the release notes the same?

Why are you repeating the same couple of release note over and over. Are you screwing up the app so bad that you need to hide behind these fake release notes????? Just give users the real release notes. We don’t care if it is short or boring, just as long as they reflect what changed.

Should have tried the free version first.

I speak fluent English and Korean. This does NOT translate the meaning. It randomly puts words together in its own syntax. The best use of this would be to learn some words... though I've my dictionary.... Hate these geeks who quickly whip up these Apps without customer service, warranty or standard.

This app is completely useless in chile South America.

Only in WiFi enabled areas

The app only works with WiFi so you can't use it wherever you go. Lets say you go to a foreign country. You can't use your cellphone data or you would be charged extra. Would have come in handy if it did not require WiFi

Needs Canadian English

All around good app but it seriously needs a Canadian English accent choice. It hardly ever gets what I'm saying right and for that it deserves no more then 3 stars.
