* "Without doubt the most powerful and genuinely useful percussion app on the App Store right now" Computer Music
* Reached the #1 paid music app in 5 countries
* SonicTouch (www.sonicstate.com) gold award

Impaktor is a drum synthesizer with a vast sonic palette, that turns any surface into a playable percussion instrument.

You just slap your desk like you would a real drum. The real acoustical impulses from the built-in microphone are used as an excitation source for advanced sound modules that simulates behavior of membranes, cymbals, metallophones or strings. This makes Impaktor a highly responsive and expressive instrument.

With semi-modular architecture and several types of synthesis, Impaktor can produce a wide range of tones, from acoustic, like Tabla, Djembe, Marimba, Cymbals, Metal bars to electronic or industrial sounds.

Enjoy the most realistic virtual drumming experience available for mobile devices!

* The app requires headphones to prevent accoustic feedback. To minimize latency use wired models.

Impaktor App Comments & Reviews

Impaktor Positive Reviews

Excellent appJust got it today but I can already see the possibilities with it! I just hope background audio is introduced and maybe some midi control for playing with other apps. Great app so far though..Version: 1.5

Works great with a drum trigger padI’m getting full joy with this app, and a Roland PD-5 rubber drum pad, like for V-drums. It’s very playable and responsive, like an instrument. Great range and nuance to sound depending on how you play. It is interesting how it works, it seems to kind of transform the actual sound of the trigger, rather than playing samples. My setup is using an old iPad 4 to run this exclusively and am using a previously useless $30 irig Stomp pedal, to get the trigger into Impaktor. The irig stomp is intended for plugging a guitar into the headset mic jack, and it murders the tone, but here, it serves great for just getting the pad trigger into the iPad, without having to use an audio interface. If I could have one thing for this app, it would be midi clock sync, to use the internal looper to get layers going, with the quantize. Great, unique app. Highly recommended for drummers and percussionists looking to work in some great electronic sounds, like the Synare did in bands like Joy Division and the Cure..Version: 1.4

Great UpdateVery glad the developer added 64 bit support to the app. Adding audiobus support allows a great app to be even better. Use headphones if you want to avoid feedback issues while you're drumming. Still the most expressive drumming app, it translates mic input into drum sounds with a variety of ways to tweak the sound and adjust the volume of the input from the mic. Try using a contact mic for additional options if you're wanting to perform live music..Version: 1.4

Just awesomeAs someone with limited study time, I need apps that don't need to be coddled obsessively to produce satisfactory sound. Impaktor works great this way. If you've tried the app and gotten annoyed with no headphones, just do yourself a favor and get some cheap phones. You can very easily drum, record, and rerecord each instrument as needed until you have something great!.Version: 1.4

Very useful percussion app. Needs sync.Edited. Still no sync, which is spoiling the effectiveness of this app for me. Otherwise|- Really nice app, love the sounds and layering loops. Would be even better with sync options or especially Ableton Link compatibility. Would breathe new life into this app. I’ve been looking for anything (even a desktop app) that does what this one does and still haven’t found it..Version: 1.5

Excellent appWhile i am excited always to use this app it has a problem with IAA node. Not working with AudioShare / AUM …etc. Developer please fix this before your fantastic masterpiece end up as forgotten and abandoned. It will be just a shame. This is such a gem to audio world..Version: 1.6

Essential app for meI use this app on three iOS devices in my live rig. Using an inexpensive iRig audio interface and a Roland electronic drum pad I can create something like a wave drum at a fraction of the cost. Thanks for making it 64 bit..Version: 1.4

Great Little appRe-discovering this App. Great for creating organic sounds. PLEASE MAKE THIS AN AUV3 AUDIO FX (too useful not to have this. Ableron link would also be great😀).Version: 1.6

Great app but…Used to love putting loops together on my iPhone X with this, but it will no longer run correctly after installing iOS 15 - it crashes every time I try to export a loop..Version: 1.6

Great sound and great funImpaktor is unlike any other synth or drum tool I’ve played with. It sounds incredible and it’s easy to make great sounding rhythms..Version: 1.5

The saving feature is brokenThe keyboard opens up and glitches me stuck on screen I cannot save stuff..Version: 1.6

Not just a toy. Lots of potentialSure it's fun to turn any surface into an instrument but Impaktor also works great with drum triggers! I use my iPhone on a mount and a drum trigger live on stage and it works great. My iPhone is on a mount within reach so I can change presets on the fly. It takes some work but with a little ingenuity, it can be very useful. I do have a few suggestions for the developer; sensitivity is a necessary setting which you have included but just as crucial for drum triggers is retrigger and threshold. This would give users the ability to properly calibrate a drum trigger. Also an audio import function seems like a no brainer to me. We want to play our own sounds too. Adding these features would be expand the demographic of Impaktor from novelty to professional application..Version: 1.3

~SLAMMIN STILL~This was a revolution then and remains a jaw dropper to those I show who never seen! especially drummers and percussionists. It's so nice that the responsiveness is so tight that you can do perfect flams and soft roll fills AND THEY SOUND SWEET. and you can do these and many other drum techniques on a ton of built in sounds and can make nearly any sound you wanna beat on. Recently I've discovered that just tapping on my bed mattress with a drum stick or embarrassingly a couple of no. 5 macramé needles' fat ends! Sounds nutty but sitting there watching Notflix sometimes I just play flam para diddles or make beats finding the bassy part of the mattress and the more snare part so I brought impaktor into this (right into the middle...) and the bouncy mattress just was perfect for great snare rolls and drop stick dddoopdat doodat type 4th bar snare fills and rhythms. Fantastic and like nothing else. This was one of the first music apps I ever bought and I still love it very much. Thank you for bringing it life it is a masterpiece !.Version: 1.2

Unique, useful, awesome.Impaktor is a great example of what iOS music is all about. It's part synthesizer, part drum app, and part noise machine. The "input" here is you tapping your finger on a desk, which registers as a synthesized "note" in the form of a drum beat, plastic pipe noise, or whichever of the several dozen presets you choose. You can create loops or play with AudioBus, and the synthesized rhythms have a human element to them because every hit is different and unique. You can even try tapping with your fingernail, a pen, or other object to see how that affects the output. The resulting sounds are recording-level quality, and unlike anything else in other apps. These range from 909 bass drums to snares to bizarre synthesized notes. My only gripe is that I wanted more! I would love some more hi-hat and cymbal sounds so that I can tap out rhythms like an actual drum kit. But nevertheless, great effort from BeepStreet and definitely worth a look..Version: 1.2

Truly MAGNIFICENT!!!I have had this app for quite awhile, over a year now, and it just dawned on me that I have never given it the props that it so absolutely deserves. Anyone that loves music will love this app, not just percussionists. From adults that are musical, down to my toddler-aged son, this app is so organic and intuitive that it is nearly impossible not to come up with some amazing sounds on it, whether you're an amateur or a pro. I've played guitar, keys, and vocals for over 20 years, and I'm telling you, this is easily one of the top 5 music apps in the entire App Store. Trust a brother...& Tap on! *On a related note, I also highly recommend another app made by these same developers, called Sunrizer Synth. It is also incredibly unique and full of magical possibilities..Version: 1.3

Awesome! But...The lack of midi implementation, or even on-screen pads makes this unusable in any setting other than for very simple beat-making for ideas. With a drum synth as powerful as this, I'm constantly frustrated because I can't use any of these sounds with my band when we play live because of the mic's sensitivity, unless I want to go through the hassle of audiocopy. A professional-quality drum synth should have a formidable trigger setup for a professional setting. The concept of the dynamic velocity of the mic is great, but useless outside of the boundaries of a toy. This could be so much more, beepstreet! Get on that midi!.Version: 1.1

Wow'd a skeptic...I was leery about the sensitivity and the latency, when I read the description of this app. As drummer of 30+ years playing many different genres, I went into this thinking there was no way this app could accurately pick up fast 32nd note intricate drum patterns.( I mean, it took Roland 15 or so years before the vdrums triggering was at a usable level)...I was definitely wrong. I could go on for days about how good this app is, but all you have to do is read some of the reviews. It really is as good as everyone makes it sound. There are only a couple apps that I can truly say are must haves as far as music production, gigging, etc. This is definitely one of them..Version: 1.2

Awesome, but with a tiny issue!I have Impaktor for a long time. First bought it on my iphone and had so much fun!!! I was amazed how fast it picked all my taps, and how realistic some synth presets sounded, just like a real drum. Currently I have a little but an issue, on iPad Air 2 there is a lag when using the integrated mic. I don't know if it is because the two mics trying to pick the taps or just they have lag by default. Drumming fast is impossible, because the lag is long enough to confuse me and make mistakes. Strangely using the headset's mic introduces no lag at all, also the same version on my iphone has no lag on either integrated or headset mics. So please BEEP, check what causes the issue, try to use only one of the mics or fix the lag Thanks for this awesome app!.Version: 1.3

WowI was hesitant to get this app at first... After owning a Korg Wavedrum Mini (which, for those of you who don't know, produces a similar result through the use of a clip on device), I didn't think an app could produce anything as good as that. Well sorry Korg, I'm afraid Impaktor may just have you beat! (no pun intended) :) The thing that makes it better than the WD mini is that you can edit the sounds, and in a variety of ways too! ... sort of like tweaking an analog synth. Also, you can quantize your playing, a feature the WD Mini sorely needed. Plus, Impaktor has a metronome, another detail Korg overlooked. (And all this coming from a huge Korg fan.) Although, I will say that the app does need a little work, perhaps with responsiveness in some of the patches... but I like the fact that they plan on adding more sounds! I give it 5 stars because of it's already high quality, and because of the promise that it shows. I think this one of the best apps in the app store! Great work guys..Version: 1.0

Really great!!!I've never bothered rating an app, let alone writing a review, but this app is so good I wanted to help them out. I'm a musician and I often play shows solo by making loops, and this is such a nice change from the drum machine sound. You can create really great beats quickly, and if you spend some time tweaking the sounds the end product can sound great. This app was worth every penny. I'm sure it'd be great fun as a toy, but my sole reason for buying an iPad was to utilize it for music making. Now, it's the most versatile electronic instrument in my setup, and this app is a fantastic addition to it. Thanks!.Version: 1.0

No BluetoothRight off the bat it doesn't work with my blue tooth headphones. Really? I have to carry two sets of headphones because beep street couldn't figure it out? I hate paying for half done apps that I can't use because some flaw isn't revealed! In its defense it showed great promise plugged in to my mixing board, but when it should of saved because I hit the 'save to disk' button and named it, it erased when I hit clear all..Erase all saved files? How can an app be so cool and so stupid? . Might be great but has unnecessary flaws and unintuitive design...Version: 1.1

Everlastingly blown awayI rarely write a review but feel compelled to here. For me, this app is perfect for my music composing and I'm amazed at how well thought out it is in terms of sound comlexity. Its much more than I thought it was and love the way it interprets sound through the mic into so many varieties of output. I may never feel the need for another percussion instrument. Thanks so much for such a quality piece of creative sound making software. Just a note that sometimes it doesn't record when I'm recording in solo mode....Version: 1.0

WOWWe already know that Beep Street can make some really great synths. I learned that from Sunrizer. What ever they are doing for input filtering is working great! I played with this in a room with a TV on and friends talking, it worked fine even then. I'm also running it on an iPod 4 with no lag and no crashes. The live looping recorder is super easy to use and it's really quick to get to any control in the app, I think that they put a lot of thought into the interface, and it shows. Thank you guys, this is great!.Version: 1.0

Don't know much about synthsBut man, is this fun to play with. If you like drumming or tapping out rhythms on anything, this app is a ton of fun to play with. Gets velocity better than any other drums on iPad since it derives it from how hard you actually hit the surface rather than relying on the unreliable screen tapping methods (which don't really work ever). There is a lot of customizability here, too, and though I am unqualified to comment on its quality it seems deep and powerful..Version: 1.1

BrilliantI'm a long-time synth player and electronic musician. I've got many dozens of carefully chosen music apps. This is easily one of my favorites. Simply brilliant. Great groove machine. Very easy to use, but not at all shallow. Extremely fun in minutes. I cannot easily stop smiling while using it. If you guys never do another thing in your entire lives, I will always consider you to be enormously successful, based on this app alone. But please, don't stop....Version: 1.0

Fantastic fun & a great accomplishment!A truly playable, useful musical instrument! Impaktor will turn your device into that. After a little tweaking to the sensitivity, your device basically becomes a contact mic, allowing you to play on different surfaces as if they were the instrument (and you can cook up some wild stuff with it's onboard tweaks, filters and effects). Powerful, useful and totally playable. A true accomplishment! Don't hesitate on this one!.Version: 1.1

Stunning PerformanceThis app is a small miracle. Every time I use it, I'm in awe of how good it is. I tap and beat on my table and it turns into recordable exotic drums, and every nuance comes through with no lag. The presets are terrific; and once I get use to those, I'm looking forward to creating my own. This app broke new ground in showing what the iPad can do. It's the future, now - very stimulating and inspiring; and with Audiobus, I can plug it right into GarageBand..Version: 1.2

TerrificI have to say this app is really great. It sounds great too. It's musical and very useful. You can create just about any type of percussion you want. Make loops and record live who them. I've had this app for a while and it just gets better. Highly recommended for musicians who want some nice sounds and layers to work with that are interesting and new. In my opinion the results are usable in final mixes..Version: 1.3

It's amazing butRight now, as said by another before, the audio does crack severely. also, there should be an option to turn off the microphone, which enables the triggering of the pads using our fingers. maybe each pad could then be an one-hit XY pad, to replace the modulation done using the mic? I can't use this app in noisy place which limits where I can play. everything else is impressive, especially the synth portion. above all, I do hope you guys resolve the cracking audio soon!.Version: 1.1

Best app I've ever downloaded!Very low/no latency time. I like it best when I put my phone on a paperback book and use Bic pens as sticks. The only constructive thing I have to say is that I wish it had a microphone selection option, so you can use iphone headphones with the mic built in to the cable, and still select the microphone on the phone itself. Otherwise, I just use over ear headphones and I 'm happy as a clam..Version: 1.2

Works for me!I have many synth/drum machine apps, but one limitation is having to play on the screen for them. This feels much more natural to play on any surface to trigger the sounds. I haven't even had it for a week and it has already been updated with tap tempo and some other nice features. BeepStreet has put out several wonderful apps, and this just adds to the list. Thank you!.Version: 1.1

Dude...This is awesome! I'm one of those sad individuals for whom drumming is not just a thing to do to pretend to have a talent, but a way of life. This means anything around me is at risk of being thwacked rhythmically. This app brings out the worst in that habit, and to great effect. Tons of great preset sounds, a perfectly intuitive loop recorder, and an elegant interface all work together to bring this funky idea to life. Thanks guys! I can't wait to see what y'all do next!.Version: 1.0

Beyond wordsHoly moly, the holiest of moly! This app is so well executed, the current sounds are amazing, and its synthesis so there will be more to come, not to mention you can tweak now. Perfect sensitivity right out of the box, was able instantly transform finger taps to true percussion effortlessly. This app is so innovative and perfect i predict it will be in commercials to sell idevices. Definitely buy this one NOW! BeepStreet does it again! Put.Version: 1.0

Great butThis app is fantastic. Great sound quality and you can even tweet sound. This app has better deal than any other drum machine app. If the place is too noisy, go to setting and turn down the sensitivety. If you don't like the sound then tweek it. Need to use it on DAW? Record it and export it. This app has everything, and specially in $3 this is steal. Try it out. You won't regret it..Version: 1.1

Stop reading reviews and buy this app right NOW.No ...really. Stop reading this. You are wasting valuable time - time that you COULD be using to amaze yourself with how incredibly great this app is. What? You're still here? Still reading instead of banging out some of the best drum/percussion sounds you have ever heard? Why? Stop reading this and just buy the app. I am not kidding. Life is too short to waste reading me telling you how great Impaktor is when you could be tweaking and fine tuning deep, rich, subtle, bright, musical, powerful, funny or intriguing new percussion timbres and whaking out beats as easily as you tap your fingers on a table. Don't read any more. Just buy it. You will NOT be disappointed..Version: 1.0

Awesomeness. Thanks BeepStreet TeamThis app is worthy of five stars. Impaktor is the best sounding synth and is very well built with sidechaining similar to NI Massive. On the current version, the only drawback is the recording function lacks a count-in. Also recording does not begin recording at the top of the measure. The bounce function is also a bit wonky. I'm hoping to see some great updates soon. Thank you BeepStreet..Version: 1.0

This is fantasticI have to say this is one of the best app ideas I've ever came across. While it definitely benefits from a quiet surrounding, that can be made up with one of those fancy contact pickups. But it's EXTREMELY expressive. Hip hop to jazz to dance to pop, hell, I could probably even do some metal or rock with this thing. It's really really really well thought out. Thank you to the DEV..Version: 1.2

Buy it!!!This is one app you won't experience buyers remorse with! If your an iOS musician, digital audio producer, or a sound designer you'll find yourself making custom preset after preset! I'd intended to keep my review; short and sweet! But after playing with this app, I see why most reviewers have been long winded! It's a Brilliant music production app! This is my new sound design secret weapon!.Version: 1.0

Like owning a Korg Wavedrum! This app is brilliant! It is like owning a Korg Wavedrum for a fraction of the price. Synth engine is very deep! I use an iRig interface to plugin a contact mic (attached to a drum pad) into my iPhone for live performance. This eliminated the crowd noise substantially from triggering the app's synth engine because you bypass the iPhone mic. There are probably even better work arounds for live use. Just a fantastic app!.Version: 1.2

Incredible.I own about 2 iPad pages worth of music apps, and this is one of my new favorites. All my life I've had the (maybe nervous?) habit of finger-drumming on whatever I'm near, so this is definitely fun for me. The responsiveness and sound quality are excellent and I use it to give my iPad songs a more human, less quantized feel..Version: 1.0

Wicked cool! This app is innovative and usable, I have quickly made a few beats that sounded awesome. The way the looping feature is set up is very helpful to making complex beats BeepStreet apps are becoming a no brainer to purchase, when I see them I know it will be good, keep up the good work! And thank you for this amazing app.Version: 1.0

Audiobus...Rumor has it that audiobus is coming, which would push this app into a range of use. To add this into the effects slot while running a sequencer through it could be really cool. I really dig playing my tablas and other percussion through this app. Can't wait for this app to update!!!.Version: 1.1

InnovativeThis brings something completely new to the iOS music apps! I'm having a lot of fun playing with this and for $5? It is going to be worth waaaay more than that in things I do with it! Such a revolution of music apps we are in and this one stands out!.Version: 1.0

Great promise but needs moreRight off the bat, this app is perfect for the price. However, it would be even better if it had bluetooth capability and iTunes file sharing. This will greatly improve my recording experience. Thank you, BeepStreet!.Version: 1.1

Fun but SensitiveImpaktor is a hoot to play, quite flexible, so easy to figure out, and very expressive. But the contact mic is very sensitive, and causes random noises even at low sensitivity settings..Version: 1.3

A wonderful creative tool.Love this app. I have spent hours with upturned bowls, empty boxes, and couple of big wooden spoons, inventing terrific soundscapes. Sadly, Apple says this app will need an update to keep functioning on their upcoming OS updates.. please update..Version: 1.3

Awesome even for a pro...It makes noises, it has a random generator and allows me to use my mouth,a song plating through iTunes or tapping the screen or a table to trigger them. These are all ways to make music that traditional synths don't generally focus on, thus allowing your brain to come up with new creative ways to discover that missing sound in your track, add a beat you haven't heard, all in a super portable iPad or iPhone. The one thing I am excited to see is the tilt function implemented for expression that will really make this app so mature ...surely it must be coming as your Gyro synth already has this as a main feature! Impaktor will be on my forthcoming Lemonmilk and A Moth Aglow tracks for sure....I buy apps to be inspired , and I am..Version: 1.1

Really worth it!Can't stop playing with this app, so cool!.Version: 1.2

Every drummer needs this appI've used BeepStreet's Sunrizer synthesizer application for some time now and really love it. When I discovered Impaktor I had to check it out. WOW!!!!!! I've only had the App for about 10 minutes and I'm amazed at how well it works. I've only scratched the surface of its features and I'm incredibly impressed. It really delivers on its ability to turn surfaces into drum pads. It worked great on my desk but what really impressed me was when I lay my iPad 2 across my knees and Impaktor still picked up every note. As a drummer who always taps away at surfaces I find this an incredibly fun and useful Application. I highly recommend it..Version: 1.2

My fave appI'm a professional musician. Impaktor is great fun in a quiet space with earbuds, but since it's triggered by the mic it is not going to work in a live music situation. Or so I thought. I've found out that you can hook up any e-drum pad (of any vintage) to your iOS device by using an interface called iRig. I bought that, picked up an old pad from a 90's Yamaha e-drum kit, and bingo! I can now use this app live, and with its recording function get a bunch of loops going at once and then jam along with them. Fabulous!.Version: 1.1

This app is just amazingYou won't regret it.Version: 1.1

Simply awesomeA multitude of interesting drums and found object sounds. Also very responsive, just make noise and this app does the rest. Looking forward to incorporating some of the more interesting sounds into my own recordings. Nice Christmas present, especially at this price..Version: 1.1

Un real!Amazing, truly amazing! Most innovative music app in my iPhone and sounds great too!.Version: 1.1

AwesomeWhat a great idea! Physically modelled drum and percussion sounds that you trigger with your own playing. Multitrack overdubbing and audio copy paste make it easy to add your grooves to other apps. Love it, worth every penny!.Version: 1.0
