Credit to the developers, but…An extra star for removing most of advertisements formerly disguised as legitimate news links, FOX Local remains an app for those who have difficulty reading at a level commensurate of a fifth-grade public school student. The app features stories presented as if they were National Enquirer fluff pieces geared for those with short attention spans who are willing to sacrifice journalistic integrity for hyperbolic simplicity. FOX Local takes an inordinate amount of time to load on even the most recently released iPhone models with the latest iOS, only to offer disappointing treatments and micro summaries that make just about every other local news app preferable and superior to all, save for the intellectually challenged minority with an abundance of time on their hands. That being said, FOX Local is recommended for those who acquire most of their news from the headlines and who consider any story longer than a few sentences worthy of a TLDR designation. Good, so close to idealWay better than previous app(s) from my local Fox affiliate. Video player works pretty well and consistently. Sometimes it will start playing the stream randomly if the app is in the background and FoxLocal’s playback was paused due to preemption by another media app. Please add a native weather map view instead of the web view. I’m still experiencing issues with notifications on the FOX LOCAL app for iPhone. After troubleshooting, notifications are now coming through, but they are significantly delayed and not all alerts are being delivered.
I have all notification settings enabled, Do Not Disturb is off, and I’ve already tried restarting my device and checking system settings. Despite this, the app is inconsistent with sending timely and complete notifications, which is frustrating—especially for breaking news where timing matters.

Update?So apparently this “Fox Local” app thinks it’s the keeper of time and reality itself. Twice a day, like some needy ex with commitment issues, it pops up to tell me: “Update required.” Really? Because when I stroll over to the App Store like the obedient little sheep you desperately want me to be, guess what I find? That I’m already on the most current, cutting-edge, bleeding-edge, nothing-left-to-add version. Literally the most updated version in existence. I AM THE UPDATE.
So let me get this straight: the app knows it’s updated, the App Store knows it’s updated, and I, a human being with two brain cells rubbing together over morning coffee, know it’s updated. But somehow, you, the actual app, don’t know? Bruh… that’s like a Ferrari insisting it’s a tricycle, or Gordon Ramsay walking into Taco Bell and asking what a taco is.
This is digital gaslighting at its finest. “Update required.” No it isn’t, Karen. You’re just broken. Stop asking. You’re like a smoke alarm that goes off when someone makes toast: loud, useless, and unwanted.

GlitchyThis is the most problematic app I’ve had in recent memory. Freezes during startup at times.
The most annoying issue is when it leaves landscape mode due to slightly moving the phone, you cannot get it back in landscape mode without closing and reopening.
Then there are times when you cannot leave landscape mode by tapping the x in the corner. Tapping it directly numerous times and even around it does nothing so once again you need to close the app and reopen. Always bad news about killing and dyingI’ve been using the KTVU FOX 2 SF news app and watching their channel on TV for many years. One day, my kid pointed out to me, “Why are you watching this horrible news channel? Users should know: this app doesn’t just deliver news—it delivers a full-course meal of analytics, ad targeting, and telemetry. The fact that the app won’t function without those services says everything about where the priorities are.

Fox9 disappointedHow often do you update the stories on the app? I have been going to the app for updates and new stories since I installed this app a few weeks ago and stories take days to update! By then, it’s no longer “news”. I’m this morning the most recent update to a story says it was last updated one day ago. Several of the stories show two or more days ago. These are not the stories that show further down the page but these are the “headline” stories at the top of the app. I guess I’ll be looking for a new news source. If I need to watch Fox5 news on my iPad, it is easy because it is available in landscape mode. I can just set my iPad, in its case, on the counter, table, etc., and watch/listen to the news. They seem to have taken the landscape mode away with this new Fox Local app that is going to replace it.
If I want to switch over to the new app, I have to stand my iPad, in its case, on the short end, and hope it does not tip over. Just great - the lack of landscape mode is all I need to switch to the other local stations that have their news/shows available in Landscape mode with my iPad. I don’t need to worry about the iPad tipping over and getting damaged because it’s in Landscape mode.

Needs a fixI have no issue with the news side of things, I’m able to watch or read things with no issues at this time BUT… the weather side has a big flaw. App Update FailsThis app is suddenly extremely glitchy and keeps locking up on both of my devices after I open it.
Finally an option to see news on my home page from other cities besides my home station. Except now the app doesn’t save my preferences on the Content page when I navigate away from it and go back. And when it is saving, half the time the other cities section isn’t on the homepage when I open it.
There’s still no option to personalize push notifications to get alerts from cities I follow besides my home station. (The new CBS News app got this right.)
And the new widget doesn’t update automatically like the Fox News widget and is currently stuck and won’t update at all.
