Nintendo Music App Comments & Reviews

Nintendo Music Positive Reviews

A great way to listen to VGMI am pleasantly surprised by this app. It might sound silly to have an entire app for Nintendo’s music when plenty of others exist, but the app’s features are well made and actually work well with the kind of music on offer. Since video game music is meant to repeat, the app offers the ability to extend tracks instead of simply looping to the beginning. That sounds minor, but is honestly feels great, and I use it a lot. The sound quality is very good, every instrument is audible, and the chiptune music is crisp without sounding distorted. All of the features you would expect such as playlists, shuffle, recommendations, and downloading is present. Logging in is easy too, since once you link your Nintendo account, the app doesn’t make you sign in every time. There aren’t any ads either. While it’s true that their isn’t a lot of games at launch, it’s worth noting that the annual price is significantly lower than similar services. I am confident that time will be very kind to the library. The only downside is the lack of CarPlay compatibility, but if you don’t listen to music while driving, that won’t matter too much. Overall, I am very impressed with the app, and I recommend it, as it does justice for the OSTs it hosts..Version: 1.1.0

Good, needs credit and more tracksI can’t say I am disappointed in this app as a whole. The playback quality is great and there are lots of settings that are innovative since Nintendo is the first game company to have a streaming service for their games’ music. For example, the loop and no spoiler settings. These are great for study sessions and for games you haven’t finished yet. However, there are some issues. I’m slightly disappointed with the fact that you have to have NOS to use the service. But frankly, it isn’t a big problem for me considering that I use the NOS anyway. Also, the cost is low compared to other platforms. I know 20 bucks a year can be a lot but if you compare it to other companies’ charges it is practically nothing. Anyway, I am very angry that you didn’t include the composers and musicians who made the music. What’s the point of having a track information area if it just has the name of the game it’s from and copyright Nintendo? I am also shocked at the low number of games. There are so many good music and good games you made with 0 MUSIC on the platform you made just for your games’ music. Also, if your tactic here is to advertise new games, why don’t you include new games? The most recent game (Wonder) you have on the service released more than a year ago now. Why won’t you include Jamboree and Echoes of Wisdom? Good, but you need to add more games and surely give the musicians and composers credit for writing a good song..Version: 1.0.2

This is exactly what I needed! 😄I am a huge Nintendo fan and I have always wanted to hear the in game music outside the game. I am very happy to know that this app exists and I can listen to every Nintendo song that I like without worrying about searching on my other music apps for the specific song and not just a cover of the song. I also love how Nintendo once in a while puts in a new soundtrack for us to listen to which keeps you from getting bored of listening to the same songs over and over. When it comes to music apps it is to me a must to be able to make your own playlists so you can listen to the specific songs you like and Nintendo being awesome made just that! There is one or two things that I feel should be added and fixed. I would like to see more retro game music on the app because I play the N64 sometimes and play other older games and would enjoy to see those. Also I may be asking for to much but the app tends to be slow sometimes and won’t play music when I press the play button. Now I am only twelve and can’t make the best reviews out there but I just wanted to show Nintendo how happy I am with this app and that I definitely use this app!.Version: 1.2.0

Great Potential - Anticipating DisappointmentAs a lifelong Nintendo fan, I was thrilled to hear about this new announcement—at least at first. Nintendo’s music catalog is iconic, classic, and timeless, but the company has a curious approach to letting fans actually access it. Their history of “protecting” their IP usually ends up meaning one thing: limited release, limited availability, and a lawyer knocking on fans’ doors if they try to enjoy the content outside of official channels. Honestly, it sometimes feels like Nintendo hates money. Here’s the problem: while competitors are out here offering quality libraries, affordable access, and options galore, Nintendo seems to relish giving us the bare minimum—if we’re lucky enough to get it at all. Sure, they’ll release something like Nintendo Switch Online or an exclusive app, but it’s inevitably a trickle instead of a stream. Meanwhile, my wallet and I are here, willing and eager to support Nintendo, only to be met with disappointment as they dribble out content like it’s still 1986 and we’re all waiting for “just one more quarter.” In the end, Nintendo’s strategy seems to be based on two things: (1) giving us just enough nostalgia to keep us hopeful, and (2) being really, really good at saying “no.” So while other companies are pushing forward with options, affordability, and accessibility, Nintendo’s “innovating” by limiting supply and raising demand—frankly, it’s like they’re trying to create an underground retro black market. Just let us buy the games and the music, Nintendo. It’s called capitalism. We thought you’d be into it..Version: 1.0.0

A must have for Nintendo fans who’ve been playing for a while! This music app has been phenomenal and I honestly find it being more of my go to than any other music app out there. Since launch, they’ve added A LOT of music from so many games so I’m not too worried about burning out on the music anytime soon! One of the main things I like is they have playlists that are regularly curated to help keep things feeling fresh and different. For example, we just had a lot of snow where I’m from and I was able to listen to a playlist that’s specifically music from snow levels of various games! I also like listening to their Good Night playlist as I’m getting ready for bed. Plus, for me, when I’m listening to music I generally just want it for some background music to listen to while I do other things. That’s literally what the majority of video game music is for, so this has truly been perfect for me! If you’re already paying for the Nintendo membership then it’s definitely something you should check out. Honestly, with as cheap as the Nintendo online membership is, if you’ve been thinking of signing up this might be what makes it worth it for you!.Version: 1.0.3

Scroll down. While this app used to be of low quality, lacking newer music as well as iPad formatting, Nintendo has boosted its quality significantly with the 1.6.0 update. With this, many requested tracks such as Mario kart world and the Splatoon 3 DLC have been added. They also addressed the iPad format issue by fixing and improving the iPad compatibility with the app. However, some minor issues still remain. While these issues are small enough not to affect the overall rating for me, they are still annoying. One of the issues I noticed is that some music is still missing from various games. As I’ve been playing through Mario wonder recently, I’ve been wanting to listen to its music more and more as I play through the game. However, when I checked the music library, no “search party” music can be found. This is annoying, but not that dire of an issue, and I just wanted to point this out so I can raise awareness of these forgotten music tracks so that they can possibly be added in a future update. My overall review of the app is 4.5 stars; a solid app with a few issues remaining to fix..Version: 1.6.1

Fantastic app! Really just needs more games! It’s a great app overall. I love the features and it’s super user friendly. Everything feels smooth and intuitive. One of my favorite parts is the extended music feature. It’s really nice when you don’t want your vibe interrupted. The curated playlists are also on point. Whoever puts those together really knows how to match a mood. I love how they are sorted for each artist in Splatoon for example. That said, I do have a couple of complaints. First, the album art for a lot of tracks just isn’t that good. It doesn’t really look clean or aesthetic, and it kind of takes away from the overall experience. I wish there was more attention to detail there or even an option to customize it. Second, we seriously need more games added. The current lineup is decent but it’s starting to feel repetitive. More variety or new titles would keep things feeling fresh and exciting. Overall, still a really solid app. A few improvements and it could go from great to amazing..Version: 1.2.1

It’s cool, but could’ve launched and developed better. In short, whoever they assigned to manage this service is clearly holding off on uploading more favored OSTs and is subsequently “drip-feeding” the user base and forcing them to wait for the tracks they wish for by subscribing to NS Online year after year. Though that being said, at least personally, I think it’s good in a pinch even despite the lackluster selection. And if you already own a Nintendo Switch, you’re pretty much paying a mere $20 annually to play Switch exclusive online required games. So with that, this app is really just a nice extra to that. Though (again) THAT being said, I think they should’ve gotten more people to manage this for higher quantities of soundtracks per weekly upload (considering YT exists and all the soundtracks you can imagine are already there). Though I’d rather pay for this not-so-fully-developed ad-less service than pay the same, or Even More than the amount I do yearly for NS online, monthly for something like YT Premium for similar benefits. (As of writing this I’m still desperately waiting for the S-M-G-2 OST to be uploaded to the service’s selection).Version: 1.1.1

A Great StartI’ve been a fan of Nintendo’s music ever since I first played a Nintendo game when I was a child. I was always sad that there was no legal way to stream their music so when this app was announced, I was jumping with excitement. This first release has an impressive feature set: the ability to extend songs as well as hide music from games to avoid spoilers are both genius ideas that I haven’t seen implemented in any other app. It also has common features like downloading songs for offline playback and also background listening. I took off 2 stars because the catalog of available soundtracks is currently very small and I also would like to see them credit the composers for each song. I also would like to see official CarPlay support as well as an Apple Watch app so that I can stream songs from my Watch without needing to have my phone on me. But besides those things, this is a big step in the right direction and I’m excited to see what Nintendo does with this service in the future..Version: 1.0.0

Best Music App EverNintendo Music is without a doubt the best music app of all time. Its so good that I use it pretty much everyday. The song quality is good and the music selection is fantastic! The ability to extend songs is so genius and is an absolutely amazing feature that more music apps need to adapt. While currently there isn’t as many songs as someone would want, they are still adding new ones pretty much every week! If they read the reviews I highly suggest adding Super Mario 3D World to the song list! Every app has some problems but the ones im going to say are so minor they don’t hinder the experience! First off the app requires a switch online subscription. This may seem like a problem but it actually makes a whole lot of sense considering they let you download songs for offline listening. There is also no computer app which can be unfortunate for computer users. Overall this is an amazing app that I highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of nintendo music! 10/10!.Version: 1.1.1

It’s Just missing that final spark..After a year, their selection is pretty good. They’ve got some real big names here, but they also have a ton of NES games that only have three or four tracks. In my opinion, they either need to be adding games faster, or make their drops more worth it. We still don’t have Mario Sunshine, a majority of the Mario karts, the Splatoon 3 DLCs (which includes after updates stuff like big betrayal) and most importantly.. smash. I get that they probably can’t include the 3rd party tracks, but there shouldn’t be anything stopping them from adding the remixes of games already on the app. Put plain and simply, I need some of these smash remixes. K rool ship deck 2, Gangplank Galleon, V Ridley, Bomb Rush Blush, all fantastic tracks I really hope we’ll get to see one day. The app is good, and worth it now, I just want it to be better. Plus adding switch 2 games shortly after release would drive a huge push for people to buy those games. DK bananza has a fantastic soundtrack that I’d listen to on loop, but it’s not here with no signs of being added anytime soon..Version: 1.3.0

Great App!Definitely get this app! I love it and thinks it’s awesome to finally be able to listen to game music with good quality and on a platform that’s official. I only have two recommendations: 1. I would love to have more music to choose from; I would love to have the soundtracks from Echoes of Wisdom and Tears of the Kingdom (Even though I know you’re literally working on that right now, so it’s fine.) And 2. Whenever I’m listening to music from a playlist that’s not my favorites or is not a playlist that I put together and I play the music while my phone is turned off, if the song ends it just plays the song back from the beginning which it’s kind of annoying to have to click the arrow to go to the next song; I wish it would end and then play the next song in the album automatically. I don’t know if that’s the app’s fault or my phone’s, so it’s totally okay if you can’t fix that. Other than that this is an awesome app thank you so much for making it!! Have a fantastic day!.Version: 1.0.3

Great AppThis is a great app! Love how I can listen to exclusive Nintendo music on a official app as well as being able to customize my music. I love how I can close the app and it stays playing I definitely will keep this app! However there is one thing I want… Dear Nintendo Co. My name is Alex and I would like to request The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom music to be included within your app as it has some of my favorite songs. I also would like to give an idea, I feel it would be beneficial for the app to be able to connect to Nintendo Alarmo as a way to wirelessly change the alarms as well as be able to have a wider range of songs on the Alarmo Clock. I feel with this feature it would encourage people to create their own playlist schedules so that they have a different sound for each day as well as be able to have a nice way to wind down and listen to music at the end of the day. These are my recommendations and I hope that you please consider them. Thank you, -Sincerely Alex Melone..Version: 1.0.0

Fine app, meh serviceThe app itself works great and is easy to navigate, but there are two major issues. The first is the lack of songwriter credits, which is absolutely astounding. Every game in the catalog has its composers mentioned in the credits of their games or elsewhere. It is a disservice to the artists to not credit them next to their music like on any other platform. Nintendo has the credits; there's no reason they can't be shown here. The second issue is the game library; there's an incredibly small selection of games at launch. I'm very glad to see them pulling music from all areas of their history, like Wii system music and two versions of Metroid for different systems, but so many iconic songs and games are missing for no good reason. We don't know the update release schedule yet, but the drip-feed approach is completely unnecessary here. There is no reason there can't be more soundtracks at once, but for some reason we have to wait to get more. And of course, your favorite game isn't guaranteed to be added. all of this is to say that i want t rhythm heaven music please nintendo please please.Version: 1.0.0

Best Music App EverNintendo Music is genuinely my favorite app of all time. I can’t express how many times I’ve used it for studying, sleeping, and even just walking to class. It has consistently gotten me through the roughest parts of my schooling, and I don’t think that my mental health would have been as stable without it. The music selection is steadily expanding, and if you love a popular Nintendo game, chances are it’s on the app already! My favorite part is that almost every Splatoon song is available (Side Order when? 👀 (joke)), Animal Crossing offers real-time hourly songs, you can create custom playlists and download songs to listen to in airplane mode (super helpful for traveling!), and there are ZERO ads. The fact that the app is free and has no ads makes it immediately a better experience than every other music streaming app on the market. Granted, you *do* already need to be paying for a Nintendo Online subscription to access it in the first place, but this makes the app feel like a “thank you” to everyone that’s done so. Despite how easy it would probably be to do, Nintendo hasn’t tried to monetize the app. Economically, they aren’t getting anything out of the app itself. And yet, them continuing to support the app and keeping it so free and accessible for their customers means a lot to me, and it majorly sets them apart from their competitors. If you have a Nintendo Online subscription and are tired of listening to ads while you work, I genuinely can’t recommend it enough. I’m excited to use this app far into the future!.Version: 1.4.0

Lazy, but still goodNintendo just dropped Kirby and the forgotten land on this platform, which is amazing! Kirby has had some of the best soundtracks ever… but the dropped only 23 songs. That is under a quarter of all of the songs of the game. I have been waiting for a Kirby drop since release and Nintendo somehow figured out how to disappoint. I might have been okay with this if there were more than 80 soundtracks to listen to, but Nintendo is fine with making us suffer. Also! You need NSO to have this service! You have to pay for this! Also this service is riddled with bugs. There are so many slow downs and crashes which is ironic because Nintendo has like one of the best debuggers of all time. Also, the lack of some series being represented is crazy. No Earthbound, no Smash Bros., None of the Mario RPGs, no Luigi’s Mansion. But don’t expect much because when they drop your favorite soundtrack 7 years later, they are just going to drop 3 tracks. 7 years is what it’s going to take to drop Paper Mario: the thousand year door on here..Version: 1.1.1

Could’ve been amazingI was excited for a way to listen to Nintendo music that wasn’t going to get taken down, and in some respects, it’s a really good app! The song extension is easily the best thing this app can do for video game music, and the songs have thumbnails for the levels/menus they appear, which I also appreciate. Where this app loses me is how there’s BASICALLY NOTHING to listen to. I can’t explain how unfathomably stupid it was for them to launch a music streaming service with 22 games out of your VAST back catalogue of incredible soundtracks. Not to mention, they don’t credit the composers? It’s probably still worth using because of K.K. Slider’s discography, Splatoon, Mario Galaxy, and any others that interest you when they add them. Whatever, it’s a phenomenal idea for an app brought down by just not having most if not all of Nintendo’s back catalogue on there. Sure that sounds like a lot to ask, but Nintendo’s a multi billion dollar company with the resources to make a streaming service, I’m sure they would’ve found some way to make it work if they were given the time..Version: 1.0.2

DREAM COME TRUE AT LAST!!! …Although,…We have long awaited for the day you make music available to come. Finally we can all freely listen to our favorite tracks. The best part is the ability to extend the tracks for up to an hour, which feels like a MUST-HAVE for just about all of us! And to add on, the fact that you even included tracks from the past is a huge achievement on your behalf! While trying this app out, I did come across something I wanna point out: availability. Everyone who can’t afford Nintendo Switch Online wants to be able to use this app. My suggestion? Allow all the non-members* to use all the features this app offers EXCEPT for the ability to download any tracks for offline listening**. Other than that, I am proud this app came to be! *Trial membership users are still technically standard level members. **Tracks that were downloaded prior to expiration of a membership should still be made available for offline listening rather than restricted to online listening. Quick Update: after finding out that some tracks that are normally looped in their game of origin can’t be extended in this app, I have found myself quite disappointed. Nintendo, please do us a favor and allow users to extended tracks that, while loop automatically in their respective games, aren’t extendable here. I get that this can’t work on every track, like Hyrule Field from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for example. But just do the best you can and maybe more people might like this app..Version: 1.0.2

About time honestly! :3 + smol complaintOh my god. Finally! I’ve been waiting for this since I started playing Splatoon 2 so i could listen to Rip Entry on repeat, lol. Great if theirs a song you absolutely love, but don’t want to leave your switch, wii, or whatever platform that song is on. Two complaints though (I KNOW NINTENDO WON’T SEE THIS BUT WHAT IF OTHERS DO AND BRING IT UP 😭) I absolutely LOVE the Splatoon 3 Story mode, and i noticed that the actual phase 1 isn’t included, with phase 2 (i think?) being the replacement, and so on. Plus, if you listen to somebody who recorded the songs straight from the game, you can hear that the songs in Nintendo Music are slightly cut, with some being cut to fit without distortions. But please please PLEASE fix this! I think the original phase 1 is absolutely haunting and honestly a little nostalgic so i beg please fix this if possible :( Second complaint. Can the artists who made these songs be credited? It doesn’t make sense why you wouldn’t credit the masterminds behind some people’s favorite songs (i wanna be able to say who wrote the masterpiece that is Two Shadows in the Sun!!) AWAY FROM THE NEGATIVITY, this is genuinely such an amazing app. I know there are a lot of flaws but to be able to listen to my favorite songs without draining my switch’s battery or having to play the thing itself is so amazing <3 For anyone reading this, hope this kinda helped :3 -signing out, xTH1RT3ENx <3.Version: 1.3.0

Surprisingly phenomenalI was not expecting this to be so good, but it is actually, genuinely worth the price of admission. The most important feature this app offers— one that as far as I can tell is completely exclusive to this platform— is “extended mode,” the ability to turn certain songs into one of those “eight hours of hyrule/kk slider/splatoon” videos at the press of a button. Video game music is at its best when it’s adaptive, and being able to extend a song to fit the length of a study session or exercise routine is just so cool. The app itself is responsive, well designed, with cohesive and easily readable UI. The curated playlists go beyond just “this game’s soundtrack” or franchise playlists, also offering playlists based on moods or activities. I was pleasantly surprised to find console-specific music as well; we don’t just get the Wii Sports soundtrack, but the Wii menu music as well. I hope they add more soundtracks soon..Version: 1.0.2

An Honest OpinionThis has been something Nintendo fans, such as myself, have been wanting for ages and having it is wonderful. If you’re anything like me and grew up listening almost exclusively to video game music, this is nothing but a lovely blast from the past and slowly is being more used than my actual regular music app! It’s got great quality audio and even includes music from cutscenes which was a nice surprise. All around it’s a wonderful app. However, The lack of selection is what everyone in this comment section is saying, and I for one agree. Yes we have more major tracks added now, but we still need more. Even the lack of Switch Titles is shocking to me. It’s just a bit lacking in the titles department. On top of that it’s a bit hard making playlists and such and not being able to send them to my friends who don’t have Nintendo Online. That’s sad as well. It feels like a wonderful deal for those who have online but unfair to those who don’t. I for one still need titles like Splatoon, Tomodachi Life, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Mario Kart Wii, DS built in console Music, Miitopia, and other Wii titles like Wii Party, Wii Play, and such to be fully happy. However since the addition of Splatoon 2 I have very content. 8/10 app Nintendo but you can do better..Version: 1.0.2

Great app but lacking somethingThis is a really good app for listening to your favourite Nintendo Tracks. I have been using it since it released and have no regrets. It has been wonderful to use and the UI is easy to use and very straightforward. However there are some issues with bugs such as not being able to download a song without favouriting it and vice versa. Mastering on some songs is weird. It took me a while to realize that the “top tracks” that pop up when you click on the game is not the full track list from that game; the full list can be hard to find if you don’t know to look for it. More game soundtracks being added in the future would be great, like Pokemon Sword and Shield or other Pokemon games and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It is a great app but feels like it’s missing something; it could be the limited choice of games. An option to view lyrics for some songs would be good, but not required to make a good app. 4/5 in total..Version: 1.0.2

Works wonderfully. Doesn’t list the composers behind the tracks.I’ve always hoped for an app with all of the Nintendo music of my childhood, and it’s now here! Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Donkey Kong Country, and many more, so there is already a great selection. One caveat, however, being that I was really excited to learn about the composers who made my favorite songs, and see what other songs in the Nintendoverse they made. Instead, just the games are listed. Being able to see the composers who made these incredible songs and being able to follow them so we get notified on new songs they composed for would be AMAZING! As a musician myself (who is also trying to get into the industry), not being credited on songs I made would feel terrible. Here’s to hoping this gets updated soon to include the composers and musicians behind my favorite video game music. If this were added I would spend way more time in the app, but right now it’s just a gimmick instead of an actual song streaming service..Version: 1.0.2

Only 10 seconds of excitementThe sign in button doesn’t work. I’ll probably change my review if it starts working but if it doesn’t oh well. I’m a huge Nintendo fan and I really love thier music but this isn’t helping them. hopefully in about ten minutes after writing this review I’ll be listening to jump up super star however I highly doubt it considering the 700 times I’ve pushed the sign in button. *thirty minutes later* It’s time to jump up in the air!!!! Ahem. Anyway so it finally worked and I have some thoughts. First of all, where is everything? There’s like nothing there. And what is there is good but I have to select pick the good things. A few requests would be off the hook from splatoon having their own section and not just being roped in with damp socks, splatoon grand festival music, that one live performance of anarchy rainbow with both deep cut and off the hook, and tears of the kingdom music. Would really appreciate it if you considered this, have a great day to whoever’s reading this..Version: 1.0.2

Functional but Flawed AppI downloaded the Nintendo Music app immediately after I saw that it was released, because I think it’s novel that there is an official way to listen to Nintendo tracks now. Would I prefer that these tracks would be available on other music streaming services? Yes, and it surely would make Nintendo more money, but for now I will stop digging into that rabbit-hole. While the selection is limited in this app, I am fine waiting for more releases. What I am not fine with is the lack of compatibility with CarPlay, as well as the music being treated as a video overlay rather than a music track. I tried going onto a website with video content being a small factor, but the music stopped because the autoplay on the website had begun without audio, thus putting the website video as the priority over the music I was listening to. If this can be resolved at all, that would be very appreciated..Version: 1.0.0

High hopesI’m so happy that Nintendo is finally making their music accessible after years of fan demand. There’s definitely great soundtracks to choose from as of now such as Mario Galaxy and Breath of the Wild, but there is certainly a want for more as there are only a little more than 20 available soundtracks at the moment. It’s understandable that putting these tracks on streaming services can take some time, but I pray that new additions won’t take quite as long as additions to the NSO games catalogue. Additionally, there are plenty of things I’m already loving such as the curated themed playlists, extending the duration of songs up to 60 minutes, and little things like separating Splatoon songs by the in-universe artists. I hope we can get more great soundtracks soon like the music of David Wise in the other Donkey Kong Country installments, the iconic sound of Pokémon, and the beautiful and exciting music of Xenoblade..Version: 1.0.0

I know you’re better Nintendo. So I downloaded this app, and then realized it wasn’t compatible with iPad 😕. The app needs tracks from games like TOTK (I get you’re still selling the soundtrack but we are paying 💰 for your online sub). THANK YOU SO MUCH for adding Splatoon 2! I assume a lot of people will be as happy as me. Composers should be credited, rather than a depressing ©️ Nintendo that can only be found by searching for it. Please add a sleep timer 😴 as well, that would be great for almost everyone. Even with all the issues, I have to say it’s a great app… Songs take up minimal space 😀 (which is nice on an iPad). Being able to finally listen to all the Nintendo music from my device 📱 is amazing, and the separate app was a good decision. Just please make it better for iPad users 🙏. I hope to bump up my review!.Version: 1.0.2

Really great, but one big issueThe sound quality is practically perfect, and the categorization being done with the songs is really cool. Being able to extend tracks is awesome, and the spoiler prevention feature will probably come in handy as newer games get added. The starting selection is small, but I can look past that because of all the things I just mentioned, which probably increase the amount of work needed to add each song. However, one big thing that bothers me is that none of the songs list who composed/arranged them. This is such basic standard information that every other music streaming app has, and it’s downright insulting to the people who worked on the music that it’s not here in this app. Why bother having a “Track Information” button that just lists the song name and “(c) Nintendo”? Your games have credits, so why not the music?.Version: 1.0.0

Decent; but still a ways to goSo excited to see where this goes! As of now things are rough; that’s to be expected. I feel like my biggest complaints are the lack of selection to start with; They definitely could’ve thrown in a little bit more, say 30 games or so. And not having every song, while understandable, is a little disappointing. What’s more upsetting is none of the composers who wrote these beautiful songs are credited for their work here! That should be a bare minimum. Less important critiques are that the app is a little bland feeling currently; could use a bit more Nintendo charm. And last, it takes a little while for some songs to load; hopefully they can fix that in a later update. But as far as the app as a whole goes; it’s awesome to have a hub for Nintendo music and has nearly every feature you could ask for and then some! Hopefully it continues to improve as time goes on..Version: 1.0.0

Highest Quality for Nintendo MusicNintendo Music released on October 30, 2024. On release, its library was pretty small; however, more soundtracks were added periodically, albeit slow. Despite this, the current selection is amazing, and each track is of the highest quality that you could find. Only thing I could complain about is the lack of composer credits, especially composer in-track credits like Totakeke’s theme. The removal of Totaka’s signature tune from the Luigi’s Mansion control screen track (“Training Room: First Half” in app) was pretty sad as it was my favorite part of the track. Going forward, I would like to potentially see some beta/unused tracks from some games like E. Gadd’s lab from the elusive beta of Luigi’s Mansion. As of now, the app remains the best way to listen to *some* Nintendo game soundtracks..Version: 1.1.2

Good Start, but a couple issuesGlad to see Nintendo finally stepping into the music game, instead of having to rely on additional publishers or booting up prior games to listen to their music. - Big fan of having a spoiler free option, as well as a way of naturally looping a track! - That being said, I’m only gonna give it 4 stars for literally one reason: The Game Catalog is a bit short (for now). - I’m sure it will get updated with more, but at the time of writing this, it’s missing quite a noticeable number of tracks, especially non-Switch tracks. - To demonstrate, I’ve only found (in terms of Wii titles) the Wii menu themes and Mario Galaxy. …and that’s it. - Can’t say I’m surprised by this. If it updates frequently, I’ll probably bump it to 5 stars, but for now, 4 is what I’ll start with. - One last concern for many of you might be Switch Online being required. Yes… that’s a little annoying. At the least though, there’s no ads. Something you would normally have to pay for on all other music apps. - They’re at least making an existing product better. Plus I’m tired of having to constantly hear criticism of their online service. (Although I would not be surprised if they made another Switch Online presentation video again, lol) - Welp… that’s my review XD.Version: 1.0.0

Great app to use. This is a great app to use. I love video game music and have for a number of years. Sometimes getting soundtracks officially from websites can be hard to do. So this is the next best thing. Yes I’ve had to label some buttons so that my speech could read them but that’s OK. I wish that you didn’t have to have a Nintendo membership to use this app but it is what it is. Hopefully Nintendo will change this. I can’t really complain much about this. There’s maybe one drawback and it’s very small. When you’re done shuffling a playlist, it would be nice if the playlist would repeat itself so that way you don’t have to go back and hit the play button again to shuffle. If there is a way to do this, maybe somebody can answer this review and tell me how to do it..Version: 1.0.3

Fantastic! Could use a thing or two more thoughA fantastic way to listen to high quality Nintendo music, having full game soundtracks all together on one app is awesome. Though I have two complaints. I would like music composer’s to have given credit under the songs they composed. There is so many amazing Nintendo soundtracks, and I would like composers to be given the credit they deserve. And lastly I would like soundtracks to be add more. They seem to add a new soundtrack each Monday, but even just upping that to two per week would go a long way, seeing as there’s so many Nintendo soundtracks I wanna hear, it might be awhile till I hear them on this app. But in time, I feel Nintendo Music has a lot of potential, not just with the complaints I’ve listened out. I hope in time this app grows and changes to be the best version of itself!.Version: 1.1.0

FINALLY!!! Been waiting for 6 months, so tysm!!!I have been constantly having to use Apple Music to listen to people trying to recreate the music. My only problem is sometimes that you’ve already said you would fix over time, which is the limited tracks. Simply add SMRPG songs, Pokemon Sword/Shield songs, and the tracks from that first 4 Animal Crossings and I’m completely set. Other than the fact different versions of these songs are also interesting to listen to, I will probably never go back to using the recreations. Tysm for making this app. It must have taken a lot of work to take this long to release(ACNH has over 400 tracks alone). So THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Added note:both 5:00 snowy in ACNH are not extended playback as well as most Pokemon scarlet/violet music.Version: 1.0.3

Easy to useI’ve always been a fan of Nintendo games music and wished there was one source to find it all. This has finally satisfied that need! I love that it’s so easy to access songs, and favorite beloved soundtracks. The extended options are a fantastic bonus, and frequent addition of new game soundtracks have been a joy to discover. For those who don’t have a monthly sub, I wish there was a paid for option for this app. Additionally, it would be nice as more soundtracks are added, to be able to search based on series- any and all Mario games, or Zelda games, or Donkey Kong in addition to the search option already available by: characters, genres, and a full library of available game songs. Thank you for finally doing this Nintendo!.Version: 1.1.2

This is awesomeI’ve been such a fan of Nintendo since I was a kid they’re my favorite gaming company and to be able to have access to listen to so many games that I have a lot of nostalgia for is so cool! Some people on here have been complaining that they tied it to their Nintendo online service but it’s very affordable at $20 a year for all you get And I don’t think it would’ve been worth it for them to create an entire app that functions well and is bug free if they made no money off of it so I think this is a great trade-off $20 a year for Nintendo online was something I was already paying for and they didn’t even increase the price or tie it to the more expensive Nintendo online subscription so I think it’s an incredible value and so cool!.Version: 1.0.3

Needs downloads expired notifications just by viewing downloaded music without playing themOverall an amazing music app if you love Nintendo game soundtracks but needs downloads expired notifications to be shown when they’re already expired like adding exclamation marks in place of the checkmarks next to download music tracks that are already expired, I have zero idea what music tracks I downloaded are expired while using this app whenever I have internet access and then when I have no internet connection and I attempt to play downloaded music tracks it says download expired, so I’m unable to play them and renew the downloaded music tracks until I have an internet connection again. I’d be very happy if this would be looked into and added sometime soon..Version: 1.5.1

Very mixed feelingsOn one hand, it’s very nice to finally have an official way to hear iconic music from Nintendo from outside their games. On the other hand, there are several glaring, easily fixable issues. First: The drip feed of content is painful, given Nintendo’s vast library. Second: It’s (Mostly) incompatible with road-trip apps. Third: “Offline Mode” is practically useless. You cannot listen to downloaded music without internet access. Fourth: Since a Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required to play music, you’ll NEED a Nintendo Switch, limiting accessibility. Fifth and worst of all: Absolutely NO credit is given to composers/artists of any songs, which in this day and age is unacceptable. In conclusion: Nintendo Music is a step in the right direction, but there’s no denying that it can be so much better..Version: 1.1.1

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS!!!I have always thought they should make a Nintendo music thing like this. And then they finally did! I downloaded it straight away, and was able to download my favorites, such as Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart 8, Zelda, both breath of the wild and ocarina of time! Mario odyssey, and one of my favorites, Animal Crossing!! If I could, this app would be rated 4 and a HALF. Only because of some unfortunate bugs( which I’m sure will be fixed eventually) but that is why it has to be 4 and a half. The bugs that I noticed was that if you stay on looking at all the songs for a while, the app will overload, and will act glitchy and possibly kick you out. It also delays a little. One last thing, Nintendo, PLEASE add Zelda Tears of the kingdom and Pokémon Arceus. Thank you. Addition: Omg, thanks for listening! Pokémon Arceus is there now!!!.Version: 1.0.3

Surprisingly Solid and with Tweaking Could be Amazing! So glad to finally be able to listen to Nintendo music on something other than YT! Easily the best feature with this is being able to extend certain music for up to an hour long! They know how often certain jingles could be listened to for hours! They just need to add more songs and soundtracks on here. Just a personal preference, but I would love to see the following added with updates down the line: eShop music, Link’s Awakening remake, and of course Smash Bros! Also, if this continues to thrive, I could easily see music outside of Nintendo in this app. Being able to listen to songs from Mega Man to Castlevania to Persona on extension would be awesome! Please continue to update this app regularly, Nintendo! The fans appreciate it!!!.Version: 1.0.3

Great, but lackingTLDR: nice to listen to game music but needs more content and fine tuning. Also give credit to creators. This is an amazing idea, giving an official way to listen to Nintendo music along with being able to loop it to make some song continue past its 1-2 minute base runtime. That being said, as of day two, the app feels lacking in a lot of content, being limited mostly to games that had official album releases but it probably should have started with some more. Twilight princess, wind waker, Metroid dread, kid Icarus: uprising, three houses, any of the Mario and Luigi series. A ton of great music just isn’t on the app yet and that going to be a turn off for some people. Granted this is early and more music will hopefully be added as time goes on. On top that there are lighter issues I have with the app. Recently played only links to albums as opposed to the songs, composers aren’t credited (this is a large issue), and music tends to freeze up or just not play after selecting a new song or even unpausing. Again this is the first full day of release for the app so I have complete faith the they will improve the service in time. This entire app allows me to listen to the sound tracks of some of my favorite games and I can’t wait to listen to more!.Version: 1.0.0

Where are the composers? The Nintendo Music app works well, and it's nice to finally have an official way to listen to Nintendo music. I was pleasantly surprised to see all the Nintendo-created playlists for different moods, game themes, and even characters. However, the two things that disappointed me the most are the small selection of soundtracks and the complete lack of composer information tied to the music! It's baffling to me to not highlight who worked on these tracks in an app dedicated to celebrating Nintendo music, as this is a feature on many music streaming apps. I'd love to know the creative force behind some of my favorite songs. There's even an option to view track info, but it only shows you the game title and Nintendo's copyright! I hope Nintendo will provide an update that adds game composers, because the lack of them is disheartening..Version: 1.0.0

Great with flawsThe app is very well designed with a layout that seems to take a lot from Apple Music (not a bad thing) and has very good audio quality. However there is a slight stability issue where sometimes when using headphones the app will pause the music and not respond to any input trying to unpause it. There are also no creator credits or profiles which is a huge shame not only for accreditation but also because it’d be very nice to be able to listen to other songs made by an artist who’s made a song you like. The lineup is also really small right now which is a shame. This isn’t an app that needs a slow drip feed to keep a user base, please just release more music and not have us waiting forever like other switch online apps!!!.Version: 1.0.0

Weird Little QuirksOverall, I love the concept and even execution of this app. I’d love for more frequent updates but as-is it’s fun to see and listen to what’s released weekly. However, I regularly ride the subway (meaning intermittent internet connectivity). I’m glad the devs had the foresight to include offline downloads, but for some reason the app requires internet access when it first initializes after being closed/in background for a while. I’m assuming this is a check to make sure one’s Nintendo Switch Online membership is still active for app access, but it’s so frustrating to have to wait until I regain internet access to even open the app just to see my offline downloads. Seems super counterintuitive and I hope that a fix is implemented down the line. Until then, an imperfect score for an imperfect app..Version: 1.0.3

A great startFinally, Nintendo made their music available to stream! I was so excited when this was announced. I love the feature that lets you extend a track up to an hour; that’s brilliant. I also appreciate the option to turn off songs that will give you game spoilers! I just have a couple issues with the app: first, the song writers and voice actors should to be credited. I want to see names like Koji Kondo and Alice Peralta in the song descriptions, because they absolutely deserve it! Second, there are barely any songs currently available! There’s only music from two Zelda games, half of one Splatoon game, one Mariokart game, etc. I know they said they would be adding more music, but I hope it’s sooner than later, cause there’s a lot missing that I want to listen to!.Version: 1.0.0

Great Idea, please give credit to composers and musiciansI am really glad Nintendo finally decided to make this a thing. I really like the formatting of the app and its ease of use. I think for people without a Nintendo Online subscription, it would be helpful to include that it is required to have that subscription to use this (even though most people who download will most likely have a membership already). My biggest critique is that no credit is given towards the composers or artists who made the tracks. That is a very big deal and they need to be credited. I’m kind of blown away by that not being just a given while designing it. Other than this very unfortunate issue, I do really like how the app works. Great music choices on here, and the promise of new additions in the future is great. But please credit the artists..Version: 1.0.0

Great appI think this app is really great. Can you please add kid Icarus uprising, fire emblem three houses and Kirby superstars. And maybe Mario movies?.Version: 1.6.0

CreditPlease credit the composers behind our childhoods..Version: 1.0.1

Amazing AppAs a very big Nintendo fan, all of the features of this app easily beat any other service that plays Nintendo music. You can extend timers which is one of my favourite features, it shows that the developers at Nintendo really put effort into this and cared about the product. The app runs smoothly, and also is very easy to use..Version: 1.0.0

Mario kart world musicPlease put Mario kart world music in it.Version: 1.2.2

Barely any gamesI am happy that Nintendo made an official way to listen to their music, but it is almost empty. Imagine you saw this app and you got it. Now, let’s say you are a fan of super paper Mario on the Wii and you were excited to finally be able to listen to the flipside music for an hour legally. You go through the games and… the library is almost empty. It’s sad but then you decide you still want to listen to Flipside for an hour, so you go to YouTube to search for a 1 hour loop but Nintendo does not like their songs anywhere. So where will you listen to it?.Version: 1.0.0

Song requestCan the next tracks you drop be ones from the legend of Zelda: echoes of wisdom?.Version: 1.6.0

Add musicPlease add Wii u channel music.Version: 1.6.0

WowThis app is awesome if you want study or ambient music. The SNES soundtracks are top tier for relaxing or studying. I downloaded it out of curiosity and holy moly it’s so nice. Hopy guacamole🫪 (nintendo please lower the prices of game im going broke).Version: 1.5.1

Awesome so farGreat work to the team! But I am waiting for a lot more tracks from games that are currently already out on Switch and Switch 2 consoles. If they are just repetition tracks, it would still be awesome to have them in a new category! *cough cough* Mario Kart World.Version: 1.5.1

LOVE IT!!!SO GOOD 💃🏼 yayyy.Version: 1.5.1

AwesomeApp works and the sound quality is good. Wish they’d add more songs but I understand why it’s dripfed to us. I like being able to play the soundtracks in the background.Version: 1.5.1

👍👍👍L think this is a good app. As long as you have a subscription or whatever it’s an awesome experience to discover songs from your favourite games..Version: 1.5.1

This App makes me feel betterI’d like the nintendo wii stuff like some Wii channels, it was my childhood..Version: 1.5.1

Please add the original in-game versionsI love the app, but I’ve noticed that tracks from games like Super Mario 64 sound different here than they do when playing on the actual console. It seems like the app uses studio or CD versions instead of the authentic in-game audio. Please add the original in-game versions so we can hear the music exactly how it sounded on the N64 and other classic systems. I also see that different segments of a track are all put into one track, for example, in dire dire docks, all the instruments are put into one track in the app. When you play the game, they change dynamically like if you’re underwater. I’d appreciate it if you made it all separately instead of all into one track. There’s also a track missing in Mario Galaxy which is, beach bowl galaxy (shell surfing version).Version: 1.5.1

Great app! This app is amazing! A little piece of feedback is to fix the aspect ratio when casting to a TV..Version: 1.5.1

Good jobYou did great.Version: 1.5.1

Almost all music for NSO!!I had such a good time!!!!.Version: 1.5.1

Great music. Not enough of it on the app or from a wide variety of gamesNintendo music is great!.Version: 1.5.1

NiceReally good. I just hope they add Zelda links awakening remaster post and age of calamity. Otherwise everything is good!.Version: 1.5.1

Works Well EnoughThe value this app contains when you have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription cannot be overstated..Version: 1.5.1

Nintendo musicI am a huge Nintendo fan and I love listening to the music. But there is one question I have. Can you add more Nintendo switch 2 music tracks and expand the one s that are already on there.Version: 1.5.1

Best decision of my lifeMan this app is GOATED. No ads, it’s like Spotify for gamers but waaaay more awesome. Audio quality is amazing. I love the extended song feature. You can connect it with your individual user and not just the “owner” of the Switch. Very well worth it!!.Version: 1.5.1

Native iPad layout?Please add a native iPad layout..Version: 1.5.1

AWSOMEW Nintendo app, probably the best music app ever Created.Version: 1.5.1

10/10A great service all around ! It just works , Has a bunch of good music selections from all our favourite series , And the layout is nice and easy to use . Can’t wait to see what else they add in the future 😊.Version: 1.5.1

So cool!It has all the music of all my favorite games! And the features on the app are really good! Great job on making this game!!!.Version: 1.5.1

A good idea, but there’s many drawbacks.Firstly, I feel like songs should be added at a more faster rate, or at least maybe the app should’ve just started with more songs to begin with. I’ve been waiting to get Pokémon black and White the soundtrack so I can listen to Driftveil City, but I know it’s going to be months before it’ll come out at this rate. Secondly, the app has a lot of playlist related bugs. There was one time when I was on a plane and the app randomly deleted all my playlists, and after connecting to wifi, (which then for some reason wouldn’t even let me in the app) and turning it off, they were back. It’s also difficult if you don’t have wifi and you’re listening to a playlist that has some songs not downloaded, and when I play a song that isn’t downloaded, nothing plays, and I can’t play anything else unless I restart the app. And, now, since I’ve been recently using the app, whenever I try to look through My Music, it just says “Could not load data”, and no matter what I do despite my wifi being perfectly fine, I can’t get it to work, meaning I can no longer look through my playlists, unless they are in my recently played. And thirdly, the app doesn’t have any personality. At all. I can’t customize my playlists, I can’t change the theme, there’s no Nintendo flair, and I can say even apps like Apple Music have more personality than this. It makes me sad that as the years go by Nintendo consoles have been a lot less charming. The Nintendo Switch feels so corporate and I miss the old charm consoles like the Wii had. Why isn’t there any menu music? I miss it so much :( Overall the app isn’t bad, but I feel like it’s just not good either. I just feel like the main issue is it’s really buggy. (Ps, where’s the Animal Crossing Happy Home Paradise soundtrack?) (Edit: I got my playlists back hooray).Version: 1.5.1

YehSo awesome! (+ Fave song “Galloping (night)”..Version: 1.5.1

Good musicThere is good music but it’s still missing many tracks.Version: 1.5.1

5 StarsI love having all Nintendo music and the ability to extend it! 5 stars.Version: 1.5.1

I have an ideaYou should add podcasts.Version: 1.5.1

Good but it needs moreIt needs more music from the game cube & Wii U and 3Ds/DS, and please add the Luigi’s mansion 2-3 soundtrack, and it needs to have a section for for the games that have remastered music for example STAR FOX 64/STAR FOX 64-3D, the legend of Zelda ocarina of time and can we please get some smash brothers music please.Version: 1.5.1

Okay at bestThis app is pretty mediocre. the selection is bad, they keep scores coming at such a slow pace and hold back some records that should’ve come out first. the best example i have of this is the release of the fire emblem engage soundtrack before the three houses one (which is arguably more popular). they don’t credit the composers and it should be a must. downloaded songs aren’t playable offline, it’s needed to have a connection to a network, so the download feature is just useless. the interface is fine, but i personally dislike the simple screenshots as the song covers. it’s nice to finally have nintendo music on streaming, but having to pay for a lacking service like this is disappointing..Version: 1.5.1

Best thing everMy kids love mario and music and this is just awsome its great al the music is kid friendly and well made im a huge fan you will love this !!!.Version: 1.5.1

So happy they made this service! Hoping to see some more of my favorite soundtracks addedThis is a great service that allows me to listen to a lot of different Nintendo music, and I am very happy that it was added to NSO. There are still games I love that have not had their soundtracks added yet, such as Majora’s Mask and many games from the Pokémon series, specifically the DS era and earlier. I am hoping that these and more will be added soon!.Version: 1.4.0

LOVE ITI’m so glad I found this! I’m just disappointed that you do not have the legend of Zelda: Majora‘s mask, Links awakening, or Pokémon legends Z-A. Just some issues though: it will stop playing my music in my car, and sometimes it will crash! So just disappointed about those things other then that it’s GREAT 👍🏻.Version: 1.4.0
