BitePal: Food Calorie Tracker App Comments & Reviews

BitePal: Food Calorie Tracker Positive Reviews

Super Helpful Just a couple notesI like the app alot i feel like its helping me be more mindful of what I eat. The only thing that kinda bugs me is the AI seems to wayyy over estimate calories. I logged a small bag of popcorn which is 140 for one bag . The AI told me it was 775 calories for some reason. I know it's not gonna be 100% accurate all the time but its happened with a number of different foods. I also think it would be nice if you could type in calories rather than scroll through them all. It would also be good if the app could be more accurate about specific brands of snacks and drinks. 1 Cup of skinny pop has less calories than 1 cup of most other popcorns but the app doesn't seem to know brands at all. Last note is that I think the calorie counter should be included in the free version, otherwise theres not a whole lot of tracking you can do without paying. UPDATE: actually had to stop using the app. I didn't realize that changing calorie values was only a paid option (i had the free trial). Thats a bit ridiculous considering how inaccurate the calorie estimations are. Bummer because i really liked the app and the little raccoon but the one thing I can't accurately track my calories w/o paying now. Switching to a different app. I would definitely go back if this was changed..Version: 1.14.2

Really Love it So Far +1 feature idea/wishHi, I really like your app so far and like many others it helps me to remember to eat on time and has encouraged me to make healthier choices. One of the biggest things that keeps me eating on time honestly is feeling guilty about Bobo (my racoon) not getting to eat and losing health points. but when it comes to healthy eating, I still feel like I’m lacking some motivation simply from just reading the ratings from each day. it would be cool if there were like a feature where Bobo would get “sick” i.e. also lose health points from me not eating healthily, I think that this option should be able to be toggled on and off that way people who are hoping to use the app to eat healthily can incentivize their eating choices more, while people who simply just want to get themselves at the very least eating again they can leave it toggled off for a more relaxed feel. or maybe just have an option as some other reviews suggested to be able to buy clothes, but the coins could be earned from consistent healthy eating (high scores) rather than mini games which i feel might distract from the purpose of the app and rather serve as a loophole to getting things (people might sit and play the games for bobo’s accessories rather than putting effort into improving their eating habits, people being me lol and probably other busy college students like me where a game is lower effort than cooking a healthy meal).Version: 1.9.0

Love the concept!I love this app so far and I love the new update! Still would like it if when I log my protein shakes it would add my protein intake and not just a “low score” and if there was a way to update the protein and other macros if I know they’re off like you can with the calories. For the most part I trust the calories and macro AI because I’m not gonna look into it too hard, but with my high exercise regimen I try to chose high protein brands and foods and I want that to count! So I want to be able to adjust when I KNOW it’s off 😅 and I know that my protein bars and shakes are an extra 22-30g and I don’t see that reflected anywhere. It just gives me a 40 score and says to drink water. Which is great but come on… why is a protein shake pretty close to a beer score wise? It shouldn’t be about the score but it kinda is lol. Love the app, love the idea! But still need more updates. Updated: LOVE that my protein shakes are now starting to BE protein and counted for the day! I’m here for the progress of this app! LOVING IT!.Version: 1.14.4

Couldn’t recommend moreI love love loveee this app. It’s still fully functional without premium, which I love, premium just gives you extra insight. I struggle with an ED so this is extremely helpful, and give me an insensitive to eat my 3 meals a day because of the cute little pet and sweet messages :) It also really benefits me because there’s no calorie count, so there is way less of a chance for me to become triggered, guilty, spiral, and fall back into bad habits. The only thing I would recommend for the developers is adding little clothing items or mini games that give you coins to buy said clothes. Each meal, the better the nutrition maybe the more coins you could earn? It’s very cute how it is but I think that would help people, especially people like me who have ADHD, remember to log their meals and keep their streak up! And it makes it more cutesy and personalized.Version: 1.8.3

Love itIm almost done with the first week. The year subscription wasn’t terribly outrageous, and was about the cost of going out to eat once or twice. So far the app is pretty nice. It tries to remind me to upload my meals, which as a person with adhd can be hard to remember😂 I like that there’s an upload picture option for the occasions that I accidentally forget to upload my meal/snack, so I’ll take a photo from online that looks accurate to what I ate😂 The only thing that I wish this app had is a little more…connection? Not that there’s anything wrong with it, I just have a hard time motivating, so I feel like it might be good to have a more personal connection to the app. Specifically, like being able to do stuff with the raccoon👀. I really wanna dress it up or something 😭 idk if anyone else feels like that, but I also have the Finch app, and being able to have a connection with my Finch has helped me get more motivated to go on it. Other than that, it’s a nice app, and I hope that it helps me with my eating habits.Version: 1.13.4

I love itI was worried something like this would shame you about sugar or junk food, and while it does encourage you to find alternatives. It doesn’t have “bad” categories just good and you can do better. Sugar they put in the good category. I think the exact calorie count isn’t perfect, but personally, I’m not looking to be exact with my calories. It makes up for it in the suggestions to make my meal better. It makes up for it in the ease recording my diet. I hated having to record every single piece in my fitness pal and with this, I could just take a picture and it’s recorded. Even knows when I put sunflower seeds in my salad it knows I put raspberries in my yogurt, even though it was pretty hidden. I love that you have a cute pet to see so you want to record. Personally it’s everything I wanted in a diet diary..Version: 1.14.1

Great app, needs a manual add optionIt’s cute, premium is affordable, and I like that it’s not judgey about eating things that aren’t on your plan as it makes it easier to stick to my plan bc I don’t feel like I have to “cheat” But it really does need a manual add option for the times when you can’t take a picture of your food. I understand the concept that taking a picture is more mindful and I like that. However, if I’m at someone’s house and they offer me a homemade cookie, it’s not the most appropriate to pull out my camera and take a picture. Having a manual entry option would allow for more flexibility. Personally I think that putting it somewhere that’s harder to access (like in the settings rather than with where you would usually take a picture) would be enough of a pain to encourage people to use the camera most of the time, while still offering a way to log for those times where it’s not possible to take a picture..Version: 1.13.8

Loving It!This app is super motivating to me due to it being visually aesthetic and cute! It’s super easy to use, and its photo tracking is pretty accurate! It’s obviously lot going to be 100%, but I don’t have to change too much for it to be correct. I’ve had no issues, but the only things I wish to suggest: - Making the weight loss goal more intense. I’m currently losing about 1.5lbs a week with my activity and dieting, but the app only lets me put a goal of up to 0.8lbs, and I’d just like it to match my current procedure to accurately have more info from the app. - Track sodium and fiber intake. There’s a few other things I wish could also be tracked that I’m sure others try to track too. I easily go over my sodium intake, and like to be able to track it precisely. - Manually change the calories per item in a food item. For example, if I eat a breakfast egg sandwich, I want to track all the micros of the egg itself. I’ll for sure keep using this app, but I’m going to continue using my other regular one to track things I can’t here :) Thank you for the amazing app, I look forward to using it continuously!!.Version: 1.13.10

Good app, but there are some things I would like addedI have used a lot of different weight loss/calorie tracking apps, the main ones being noom and myfitnesspal. Although I do like that this one is quite inexpensive compared to others, I do wish that there was a manual logging portion so that it was easier to log restaurant meals or snacks that you have when you may not be fully able to take a picture. I also wish that there was an easier way to log your weight so that you could see the progress easier, same with exercise, it would be nice to input the activity I do just to track it better. I also feel like grams being the only way of measuring food is a bit inconvenient (this could be user error tho). Overall, good app, but I wish there were some adjustments, but for the price I would say it is worth it, especially if you are new to calorie tracking..Version: 1.13.7

It’s good so far, BUT…I’ve been using it for a few days. The interface is simple, the general aesthetic of very cute, and I really like the concept. However, the AI doesn’t always get the logs quite right. Here is what I think might help: 1. Having the option to scan a food label with your food (if you’re eating pre-packaged food). For example, the AI kept logging my greek yogurt for regular yogurt and giving it an unfair rating (even when typing in the brand and type). 2. Generally being able to edit more than the calories. Again, some times the AI gets the macros wrong which messes up the calories. It’s nice to be able to edit the cals for someone just focusing on calorie counting, but people who are focusing on macros would highly benefit being able to edit them too. 3. Having a place to track your water? Admittingly this is a personal preference but practically an industry standard with food tracking apps. It isn’t a huge deal for me, but it’d be nice to have an option to track my water. AI could even play a role in this! For example, someone could take a picture of their cup and approximate how much they drank (half, 1/4th, etc.) and the AI can approximate how much they drank in oz or ml (or whatever measurements they prefer).Version: 1.14.5

If you’re serious about tracking your meals, try another app! This app can be very inaccurate, for example: for my cheat day I got a small Hershey and Oreo frappe, very sugary and definitely high in calories and whatever, but when I scanned it, it told me it was average and it showed me a low calorie amount..which I definitely knew wasn’t right! But when I scanned my poppi drink, which is known for being a healthier version of soda it told me it was poor and over 50 calories?? Which, I looked on the back of the can, so definitely know that ain’t right either. You need to pay for mostly everything on the app, the only things it will let you do is scan your food, change calorie amount, and keep track of your meals. But for any other app you need to pay for doing those things, so I am grateful that most of your basic things are free 😊.Version: 1.14.5

Cute app, not for Type A folksI love this app! It’s helped me become more mindful of my eating habits and actually helped me choose better meals. That being said, if you don’t own a scale or if you rely a lot on name brand foods you’ll find this app a bit tough to get exactly right. Trying to get my macros to match my Yasso bar was roughhhhhh. This is the biggest drawback. My recommendation to the developers: include name brand recognition (and use the AI to look up the name brand’s nutrition label)—also let us go back and edit previous logs as different meal types and have an option to save photos we take through the app! But overall, as a home cook, I love knowing that what I’m making is somewhat nutritionally balanced. This is an excellent app concept that with a few tweaks I think is better than MyFitnessPal or Chronometer :).Version: 1.13.5

Love it!As someone who struggles to count calories this app has been a life changer. Honestly it makes it so easy to log your meals, snacks and even drinks. You just take a picture of what your eating and it does most the work. You do sometimes have to adjust calories or what a food item is. For example, it can’t always tell the difference between my protein shakes and a milkshake but it super easy to change it and then it changes the protein and calories for you. Best food log app I have ever used. I even got my sister using because she was so tired have having to look up every single thing she eats. Plus the raccoon is su cute and helps to keep you motivated to log your meals..Version: 1.14.1

Helpful!!!!Love this app! I have tried soooo many others all that are stressful and when you open it you’re automatically overwhelmed by pressure to be better but with BitePal, it’s as simple and as supportive as it could be! I have struggled with an ED for the past few years and this app has helped take the stress of counting every calorie and nutrition value I have and turn it into a photo! My only wish is that it had a widget for apple, much like Duolingo has a widget to keep your streak going. That problem is completely on me for having a terrible job at keeping up with things but I try! So far over a month and a half, I’ve dropped 6 pounds. I swear it works!!.Version: 1.10.0

I love this app! Just a suggestion.I just downloaded this app yesterday and it is great! I love the simplicity and information that it gives you. Very easy and it’s only $35 yearly. The only suggestion (assuming it’s not already in the app) is that there should be a “save meal” option!! I went to go scan a Protien blend packet with the nutrition facts + ingredients that I had yesterday and it scanned through just fine. However, when I tried today, it didn’t work. I scanned it probably about 10 times. I don’t know what’s different today but the scanning part isn’t the problem. I just wish there was a way to save items for future use :(. Other than that, this app is great and I’d be willing to pay the $35 again!.Version: 1.14.2

Good tracking but annoying raccoon gamificationHoping the team can see this, but first off, the ai is great and the UX for tracking a meal is good. Simply take a photo and it identifies the food and calculates the ingredients and nutrients. I’m not sure if the amounts are accurate but the items are, even with blurry photos. However, I think the raccoon is annoying and superfluous. Still I can live with it. The MOST ANNOYING thing is that it KEEPS asking me to share the streak each new day, which means I have to click out of it, which is a few extra steps and when I’m tracking food to eat, I really don’t want to do that. I just want to click and go. Please develop a setting that stops asking me to share my streak!.Version: 1.14.2

Love it, although some features are missing.Howdy, I hope this reaches the developer. 1. I’d like if there was a way to reclassify a meal for a snack or a dessert as there doesn’t seem to be a way to correct the entry without delete, puke, take another picture and classify correctly. 2. In the weights, when eating out, sometimes I can see the total weight on the menu. I wish there was a total weight entry and it would adjust the individual ingredient values to match the total - very helpful. 3. Stretch goal - if there was a way to export data for custom analysis, that would be slick. All in all great app!.Version: 1.14.7

Helpful but isn’t always accurateThis app is helpful to track things however it doesn’t always calculate correctly. When I buy products that are low cal or have substitutions it never accounts for that even when I include the nutritional information it will log it wrong. Same goes for zero sugar drinks it’ll alert me of added sugars and give incorrect calories. If I wanted to alter any calorie numbers I would have to pay for premium. I do think this app can still be helpful but it needs some tweaking. I wish there was a section for logging snacks without a picture because sometimes taking a picture is impractical. And overall they need to improve their software to account for organics, food with substitutions and reading nutritional facts..Version: 1.13.10

I have high hopesIn theory this app is amazing, its the only one ive tried that i can stay consistent with. Almost every time i log something i have to manually change the calories, which thankfully i often know. Ive run into a problem now where i can scan the same thing multiple times and get different results in the nutrition sector, for example, i scan a fruit drink and the app tells me its poor nutrition, i immediately scan it again and it changes all the way from poor to good. I also wish there was a feature to keep track of your weight and/or results over time. I appreciate the simplicity of the app but at this stage its causing it to be quite lacking..Version: 1.14.4

Great idea but UX issues for free versionI can only speak to the free version as I have yet to pay for the app. BUT GREAT idea I love the simplicity of snapping a picture and that being that. However, there is no way to adjust what the AI thinks you’re eating. For example, it thought my Mexican rice and quesadilla was fried rice and chips. Close but I do have chicken in the quesadilla etc. So wish I could’ve gone back and edited that. Also no way to tell the AI about what servings you had. ALSO big issue, I can’t upload an image after I’ve eaten my meal or input it a different way. Maybe I could but have never seen an option for that. So I think there are some key elements missing for optimal user experience for the free version that I think should be built in. Thanks :).Version: 1.13.8

Cute ideaI think its a really cute app and has a lot of potential but my issues with it is that often times for example i eat this veggie pasta that the pasta is made with zucchini and cauliflower with no like actual pasta noodles in it but it puts it as actual pasta giving me a low score. I think it should have a thing where u type in items or ingredients for a more precise nutritional information cause it tells me healthy things are unhealthy. I like the idea of a little raccoon reminding you to eat and encouraging eating even after a “bad” meal but nutrition wise its not too helpful on that aspect. Also i think carbs aren’t necessarily bad for you we still need them as they are important for us so im confused on why theres more issues for things like a bagel.Version: 1.8.6

Great potentialI love the idea of feeding a lil raccoon along with yourself! However, there just aren’t enough customization options for this to be worthwhile food tracker yet. I can’t log water or snacks, just meals. With the meals I log, I can’t specify anything (a chicken sandwich with only chicken is different than a chicken sandwich loaded with veggies and on whole grain bread for example). And I wish the raccoon was a little nicer to me LOL. 70 doesn’t seem like that bad of a nutrition score to me, so I’d didn’t love the raccoon being like “better luck next time”! With more tweaks and updates, I hope this app becomes as great as it has the potential to be! It’s just not there yet with sole reliance on ai photo identification..Version: 1.6.0

Cute but not much to doI like the concept of the app but if you don't want to pay like 40$ a year for premium its very limited. Was hoping there was more to the virtual pet raccoon but you don't really do anything with it. I think maybe it would be a good idea if you could get accessories and things for your pet the more you use the app and meet your goals because thats kind of what i was hoping for because I thought it would be good motivation but he is more of just a mascot and you cant actually interact with your virtual pet or do anything with it. Also, the estimates for the calories are consistently off by like 300cals and i have to fix it.Version: 1.14.4

GreatI think i wrote one earlier already but wanted to add on that you ARE able to edit your food that you track. i’ve been doing it just fine i’m not sure what the problem is cuz there’s a big fat edit button under all of my meals when i click on it. maybe y’all updated it recently? cuz i can edit the calories easily and the ingredients/ along w how many grams i used. ai as been pretty accurate! anywho, love this app! only thing i look forward to now. been a rough couple of days around my birthday but at least i’m eating ok! thanks for loving me bitepal🫶even when i dont!.Version: 1.13.8

I like it! (plus suggestions)If you have quit other calorie tracking apps because it’s too time consuming, this is the perfect app for you. If you’re looking for perfect tracking, this is not the app for you. The ease of this app is what makes it so valuable. I use the paid version, but I’m on the fence about long term usage, so here are some things that would solidify it for me: 1.) the ability to scan in nutrition labels 2.) being able to edit the nutrition information directly, not just the calories / serving size / ingredients 3.) being able to copy and paste previous meals 4.) PLEASE let me go back to add meals to previous days. Sometimes I forget to log a thing 5.) save go-to meal information/photos in a “favorites” list or something These things would help balance the sometimes unreliable nutrition info. These are also features that almost every other paid calorie tracking app has for a reason. It would ultimately add more versatility to the app, and I would 1000% continue paying for it..Version: 1.14.5

LoveI love this app… but I’m not thrilled with the latest update. I have no idea what 100g looks like, so it’s not measuring my food as well as it did prior to this update. I’m not against editing the calorie count afterward, but I would prefer if it kept the original way of tracking as the numbers were pretty close as it was. I do not like this new way of putting in the grams of everything at all, and came here to try to find a way to roll back the app update. If I wanted to have to track every little thing, I would’ve stuck with a different calorie counter..Version: 1.13.5

FunI think this app is fun and interesting, but the calorie projection is usually WAY off. I wish I could scan a barcode or the ingredients chart to have accurate information stored. Especially because when I eat something that’s only 240 calories and it changes it to 900 (and I don’t realize it until later), I feel like I can’t eat the rest of the day, which weighs on my mind and makes me feel like I have to start r myself so I don’t go over my daily limit, if that makes sense. Long story short, I wish the ai was more intuitive, I wish I could screenshot/take a picture of the table and have instant feedback, and I wish there was a tad more room to change things around!.Version: 1.14.1

Decent, but needs some upgrades.I love this app, and I like that it reminds you regularly. One thing that doesn't seem to work well is how it doesn't allow you to change the nutrition facts- it just assumes cals & sugar content etc. For example, I scammed in a GoGo Squeeze apple sauce for a snack. It's only 70 cals per pack and has 0g added sugar. When I scanned it in, it said it was 90cals and flagged it had added sugars. There is no way to adjust the nutritional facts, the only thing that can be tweaked is the cals, and even then you have to pay a subscription for this. Decent idea, poor quality. Tons of other apps that are free and do the same thing- minus the racoon..Version: 1.13.8

InaccuracyGoing into this, I knew it would be inaccurate because it uses AI. I like that we can adjust the calories it guesses by default but then it changes the serving size. I wish we could adjust those separately. My other issue is that when it comes to measuring protein, carb, and fat, it’s all just a guess because we can’t put specific portion sizes or amounts of ingredients we used, and even when we can it’s not brand specific and the calories and macros are just a guesstimate at that point. Some improvements would be: - Ability to be more specific, a food database maybe or the ability to input specific macros and calories from a meal without it changing other information (like serving size) Otherwise this app is cute and motivating to use, I like taking pictures of my food even if I have to adjust the information later, I also love the insights on meals and the nutrition rating scale. I just wish things were more accurate and relied less heavily on AI to count macros and calories..Version: 1.13.10

Omg!!I love this app so much. Not only does it tell me how all the food I eat is practically junk, but it also helps me keep track of what I eat because I always forget. Like if the night before I had pasta, I’ll completely forget then look and boom! I love that it doesn’t count calories or use hurtful statements, and even when it is unhealthy, it isn’t guilt-trippy. One thing I definitely think would be cute to add is making it so you can pet the little buddy! I think he is adorable and sometimes I go to instinctively tap on him to pet so I think that would be super cute!! 💗💗.Version: 1.8.3

Great so far, but…I like the app so far but it has some quirks that I feel would be fixed with some added features. Such as being able to copy a meal. Sometimes I meal prep and have the same thing for multiple days. It is tedious that I have to sit there playing with the ingredient counter and spending time logging my meal when I can’t bank it. Plus I cook a lot! If I could snap a pick of the final product and it takes the portion from a recipe I have already created on the app would also be great. Like, since I cook I know exactly how much ingredients is in there? Just little things that I would suggest..Version: 1.14.1

Request(edit: can we have little outfits for the raccoons and u get clothes by earning coins from eating and the higher score food the more coins u get :)) i love this app but i do think it’s a little dumb that we can’t go through and change small things with the entry’s , like sometimes the ai won’t pick everything up like i had tacos and it didn’t see 2 of the other toppings that i had in the tacos i feel like i would’ve gotten a higher point if it detected the lettuce and tomato in the tacos but it only saw the beef and cheese, (unless it really is showing up and i can’t see it because i don’t have the premium plan) then i also think we should be able to change the times the meal was logged cuz sometimes by the time i remember to tell him i ate its already like 2 hours later and when i put the entry in its gonna say i ate now but i ate it earlier.Version: 1.14.1

Great ideaOverall, I like this calorie counter. I’m not a stranger to counting calories but I think my bigger issue is that when I add “protein” as an ingredient for a protein shake, it doesn’t take it into account on my macros. An update to allow to take a picture of nutrition facts and update the macros would be cool. Edit: okay so the more I’m using this app, the more frustrating it’s becoming. Besides it just not registering any sort of protein shake and the nutrition facts associated- I changed the caloric intake I want to have and it’s consistently resetting- there’s a caloric intake I need to have for bariatric patient reasons, and it’s frustrating that so many calorie counting apps don’t take that into account..Version: 1.14.4

Needs one small tweak, otherwise great!I really love this app, it’s super fun and interactive! However I do believe it needs one small tweak which is being able to edit meals after the picture has been taken. This is because small but important details can be wrong sometimes. (Ex. Switching the type of food like orange juice to pineapple juice, adding ingredients that may be hidden in the presentation of the food, and adding details like bread is whole wheat or gluten free) I also think carbs should not be penalized so much as they are very important! Otherwise I really enjoy the app and how easy it is to upload your meal!.Version: 1.7.0

Cute and PositiveI really like this app so far. It’s very positive and you can personalize the look. The AI photo has actually been fairly accurate and I like that you can update it as needed. I wish the AI typing function was easier to update. Seems like it’s more “set in stone” than the other functions. What I realllllly wish they had was a way to save my recipes to the list and be able to plug in portions from it. A lot of things I make are stews and soups so it’s really difficult to capture everything in a picture and tedious to type it all in and have to back search for it..Version: 1.14.7

Great for meal tracking without pressure! As someone who has struggled with toxic food habits and restriction, this app is really helpful for tracking food without adding a negative effect. There’s only two things I’d change if I could. 1) I wish I could input calories instead of scrolling through the numbers because sometimes it takes a while to change if it’s off. 2) I wish I could change the macro information manually or scan a nutrition label to get more accurate logs! My protein shakes keep getting labeled as high carb and low protein when they’re the opposite..Version: 1.14.1

Fun and simpleOverall a decent app, but hoping they add more features like being able to update or change nutrition info. If I scan a protein yogurt, it only lets me adjust calories, which then changes the grams automatically. Then if you try and change the grams, it changes the calories. Or if I have a protein bar that only has 3g of carbs and no sugar, it says it’s a ‘high in sugar’ snack. So it would be nice if you could adjust more than just calorie and gram counts. I do like that it picks up on almost every ingredient when taking a picture. The raccoon buddy is super cute and always positive..Version: 1.13.8

Issues!I love the picture aspect of this app, and how I don’t have to log everything by hand anymore, but I have an issue with the lack of customization with a free plan. I attempted to log my breakfast this morning (it was a simple bowl of instant oatmeal, around 200 calories) and after taking a picture, the app said that my breakfast was 555 calories. I went to go update the calories to what they actually were and it was locked, only for premium. I understand that with a free app comes a way to make profit, but not being able to edit the calories messes up the rest of my meals for the app, essentially making it useless for me..Version: 1.14.1

Lots of improvement neededThis app is great for tracking calories and being more mindful. However, the data provided could be far superior, additionally the amount of food for each picture should be weighted in the final score for the day. I’m not sure if it is already, but it seems like it’s not. If I have a small candy I get a bad score even though it was in the recommended range of sugar. Also we should be able to add a picture for the day before if we forgot to upload a picture. Although I appreciate the info, they should provide suggestions for nutrition or be able to set goals..Version: 1.13.10

This app is fun and functionalI have been using BitePal for roughly 3 months now. I started using it as a means to track what I’m eating. It’s easy because all you have to do is take a picture. If it picks up something different you can add or change ingredients. You also get an adorable raccoon. This app has helped me stay motivated to eat healthy and balanced. Also it’s very affordable. This app is $35/year. Compared to others that want literally hundreds for less benefits..Version: 1.11.3

I don’t like itI used it for like a week with no trials and no subscriptions. without a subscription you get practically nothing from the app. All it does is show you the quality you’re eating. cool. but it was advertised on tiktok as a calorie tracker that uses AI to help you track. Well without a subscription you can’t track. Also i really dislike how if you forget to take a picture of your food you ****ed and i don’t know how else to log it. Im a uni student so logging my meals isnt always the first thing i think of when i start eating. the app is more of an inconvenience and shamed me when i ate poorly. i’ll stick to myfitnesspal..Version: 1.13.8

It’s a good app, but it’s not 100% reliableListen, I’ve tried calories tracking before, but I decided to stop because it was mainly just too much work so when I seen this, I thought why not go to try and it’s a nice thing and it’s definitely fast and easier. The only problem is is that it’s not 100% reliable for instance I ate piece of gum that’s only 10 cal for the whole piece and I eat half of it but it said it was 54 cal when I scanned it which is obviously not true so I really wish they could fix this.Version: 1.14.3

Very cute idea, but the food rating isn’t consistentI think this app is super cute! My main focus is always the nutrition rating, since I’m trying to see if what I eat is actually as good as I think it is. My big issue is that it will consistently rate the same foods differently. Almost every morning I have a protein shake, and it’ll rate it drastically different (sometimes it’s in the 80s, other times it’s in the 50s). And I mean, everything is the same. Same flavor, same calories, etc., so what’s making the nutrition score different? It makes me question the accuracy of everything else it scans..Version: 1.13.5

Thank you BitePal!I was a bit skeptical going into it, but this app is truly incredible! I did pay for premium, which I highly recommend for those who plan to take better eating habits seriously, and it has really helped me realize what I am consuming, especially in the long run. What I love is that the app does not judge what I eat, but rather gives me encouraging tips to improve. Thank you BitePal for changing my habits for the better!.Version: 1.14.2

Lovely!Honestly i love this app. I’ve been eating healthier, but I also love the fact that it doesn’t shame you when you eat something not quite as good for you. My only issue is that it doesn’t have a lot of things unless you get premium. This doesn’t bother me a lot, since I mainly got this app for the sake of tracking and building better habits, but it would be useful to see the graphs and the info on what I’m eating! In any case… really nice app, I do recommend, especially if you can get premium..Version: 1.13.5

.So far, so so nice.Version: 1.14.5

Awesome appJust the interface is good really hoping there isn’t a subscription.Version: 1.14.2

AmazingSo easy to track my calories AND helps me to eat better and improve my health. I always feel motivated to eat to keep my little raccoon healthy!.Version: 1.13.4

It’s okayI’m liking the app so far but i wish there was also a way to edit or manually input food if it was more specific or different then what the app says, other then that i like it.Version: 1.13.8

Different units to measureJust got this app as a way to help me heal my relationship with food without the usual calorie tracking and am so far enjoying it! I love the animations and my raccoon is so cute ☺️ one thing that isn’t my fav is the only form of measurement being in grams, sometimes it’s a bit hard to determine (especially since I don’t own a food scale). I would love if there were options to say how many of something and then it calculate the grams form there? e.g. 5 strawberries, 2 turkey slices, 6 pecans, etc. thank you!!.Version: 1.13.5

Good idea, poor executionIt’s a really good idea! right now the image analysis isn’t super great though, I don’t think it’s ever gotten my food correct (aside from inputting an apple lol), and it’s REALLY bad at estimating the portion sizes. I always end up just typing in the food manually, which defeats the purpose of the app. Once things run more smoothly, it’ll be great! but until then, I don’t think it’s worth the subscription though :(.Version: 1.13.5

Love itGreat app but I wish it could have wigits available. Also if there was a way to earn points or get clothes/accessories for the raccoon ( almost like finch ) that would make it much better..Version: 1.13.4

Make this a widget!I really like this app, it’s super helpful for tracking my diet, but sometimes I forget it exists! Making this a widget would be rlly cool and helpful.Version: 1.13.1

Camera not workingSo i just got the app and i paid and everything, when i go to snap a pick of a meal the screen is just grey so i’m forced to take a pic on my phone and just import the photo, i’ve tried swiping the app, switching my wifi, i tried checking if the app had access to my camera but it never asked and i check settings and it won’t tell me. help please!.Version: 1.13.4

Great conceptI absolutely love the concept of this app… with that being said. I often forget to snap a picture before my meal so I wish there was an option to type in what you ate on the chance you miss a picture. In addition, sometimes the scanner gets the exact food wrong which would also be nice if you could correct it with typing. Overall I do love the app and the pal that comes with it..Version: 1.13.1

Good for EDI always struggle with food tracking apps. This one is so different than the rest, I love it..Version: 1.13.1

Love the app but…I really like this app, the only thing I wished was in it is the ability to add meals with text if you for example forgot to take a pic of it..Version: 1.10.4

Very cute but too simpleI love how cute it is! My little raccoon makes me remember to log in my meals. I wish there were more services though than just info about the food I’m eating. For example if it points out a food that I recorded that isn’t the best, it should suggest alternative foods or recipes that would be better :).Version: 1.9.0

MidI think this app could be really useful to someone who’s at the start of their health journey and wants to learn more about what they’re putting in their body. However, it’s so limited in how you can edit the foods. Making it difficult for me to want to use. For example, the other morning I had an apple pancake. The app thought that it was Apple pie and ranked it as such. I tried to change the food but it didn’t accept apple pancakes as a food, so although I change the name the nutritional facts stayed the same as apple pie. Apple pancakes are definitely a sweet treat breakfast but not anything like an apple pie in nutrition. Also for a food app to be useful to me I need to be able to update it at my convenience. When I’m out with friends and having dinner, or at a family dinner party I don’t want to pull out my phone and take a picture in the moment, nor will I think to do it. So it happened a few times when I was first trying out the app that my little raccoon went hungry becasue I couldn’t update it. It also gives me the ick that you can access setting in app (or atleast I didn’t see how) to cancel the subscription. I needed to go through my payment method to cancel it. My final thoughts are that this is a very cute app, and could be useful to someone just not me. The price, 50$ Canadian a year, is not worth it considering competing app I’ve tried have way better bang for your buck with better in app features. Like Hit meal. Still has a camera feature but way more detailed, and when you pay for it you can meal plan suggestions and information about the macros of your meals. But the cute little raccoon friend in this app makes in worth a try..Version: 1.10.1

Cute but…I truly appreciated using this app. Although it accurately tracks what I eat, I wish it could provide more insights and suggestions. I believe this app has the potential to offer so much more!.Version: 1.10.1
