"What do you get when you combine the best method to get stronger with detailed instructional videos, thorough explanations AND an actual day to day program? THIS APP! Finally! Perfect for both beginners and experienced lifters and worth much more than the price I paid for. Thank you Starting Strength!

5/5
"I've tried 2-3 other apps. I've kept paper logs. Nothing has been easier to use than this app. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't enter my warm up sets...its because you don't need to! You enter your work set weight and it tells you exactly what to load on the warmup-ups..."

5/5
"Wonderful, straight-forward way to keep DOING THE PROGRAM. A simple and clear way to apply the SS principles and track your work.”

"Like others, I was on the fence about buying this app to help kickstart my starting strength program. This app deserves it's high average rating, and you should pull the trigger if you are reading this.”

"I tried a few free apps before buying this app, this one is well worth the money. Best app out there for barbell training"

Starting Strength Official App Comments & Reviews

Starting Strength Official Positive Reviews

Great AppYou really must read the book...soak on it. Figure out your starting weights and then get going. I did weight training in my 20's and I wish I would have had this book. Now I am mid 50's and everything is a struggle...workout recovery, injury recovery, etc. However, if you take it slow, take time to recover, stretch each workout day, reread the book occasionally, then you can set yourself up for a lifetime of greater strength and fitness. This app goes a long way toward helping with the goal. It is easy to use. Look through everything before you start and backup to the cloud weekly. Update: still a great app for starting out. It does all the thinking...warm up weights and reps, timer, etc. The big drawback is when you are ready to move beyond the novice SS routine, the app is not capable. You cannot increase reps beyond 5 nor sets beyond 3. So if you move to Texas method or H-L-M, then you must find another app. I have found nothing like this one where I set my work set weight and the app fills in warmup, timer, etc. So yes it is a great app, but you will either quit or move beyond novice which means finding another adequate, but less than desirable, app..Version: 1.18.8

Great training log (1 year of use)This is my favorite training log (especially since I’m doing starting strength and this is tailored to the program). The app automatically alternates workouts each time you login, increases the weight on a lift for the next workout, calculates the plates you add to the bar, etc. It makes it really easy to track all the reps and weights you lift so there’s really no excuse not to have a detailed training history. You can even type in quick notes for a lift. The other feature I really like is that it automatically generates graphs showing the lifts you’ve done, the date you did them, whether you were successful, and your body weight. This app takes your mind of the logistics off logging your work and lets you focus on more important things like getting those calories in and hitting those PRs. Happy Training!.Version: 1.18.12

Excellent appThe timers and counters are very useful. A written log is always better but in this modern age our mobile devices have become part of our daily life even for logging data and information. I hate to say it but if this is where our future is heading then we to take these things more seriously and continue to push for improvements in these apps. I love that it accurately calculates your warm up reps for you. Still would be nice to be able to customize reps and sets for intermediate exercises and add exercises to the workout like barbell rows. Maybe even log personal info about rest, recovery, diet, or just how I’m feeling that day (basically eliminating the written log). The StrongLifts 5x5 app does do some of these things and is much more intuitive, but it does not calculate warm ups as accurately as this app. Also having digital access to key pages from the book and video Gifs of the Exercises is incredibly helpful. Keep it up starting strength, always room for improvement but this app is on the money. Thanks..Version: 1.18.12

Please fix the clock and fix unit conversion!I recently moved from StrongLifts 5x5 to Starting Strength and I must say this app is great. However, the timer is not working for me on my iPhone X. Either the start button is missing or it resets to 0 and I can’t change it or start it. It’s just a mess. This is one of the reasons I purchased the app to save me opening the stopwatch it on my phone. Also, I travel around the world a lot. When switching between pounds and kilograms in different gyms it would be really REALLY useful if I can easily switch the units and it converts the units in the history and my current workout. Instead it resets my workout data, but leaves the previous number in lbs and uses it for Kg. Why not just convert what’s there? In fact this alone nearly made me give this app three stars since I have to manually convert it all myself and correct it in the app. I am curious how fast the developers will respond to this, if they see it, since I’ve had a very good experience with another certain app..Version: 1.18.8

Excellent content, app needs workI love Starting Strength but this review is for the app itself. I have an iPhone 8 Plus. I use this app every time I go to the gym. I’ve noticed that the timer is finicky and will jump around on you on the screen. The timer also stops sometimes when you switch to the music app momentarily to find your pump up jam to hit those PRs for sets of fahves. When altering your weight in either the past workouts or at the end of the workout there is no enter button or way to collapse the keyboard so it’s just there. In my case I cannot change the warm up set weight in the settings area, only during the actual workout. It sometimes doesn’t keep track of when I have the PC instead of the DL. Unless I’m missing it, I’d like to see intermediate programs added in as opposed to just LP. Maybe add another video reference? Barbell Logic’s videos are short and sweet and provide audio. I will continue to use the app and recommend it since it is a no-brained when calculating warmups and rest times..Version: 1.18.10

Just what I neededI truly appreciate this intuitive and useful app as a companion to the Starting Strength book and program. It does all the math for me with a minimum of setup prior to workout, and that’s only if I NEED to adjust something. I’m 3 weeks in and hitting my actual work weight and the app just keeps up with everything and the built in timer that sounds through my headphones in tandem with the music I choose to play through my music app is icing on the cake. My workouts have excellent structure with this app as compared to the loose timing and “just feel it” resistance I was casually employing prior to downloading it. It feels like science now, no time wasted! 5 stars from me and I’ll share it with anyone who’ll listen. Thanks for making something so useful and easy to use..Version: 1.18.19

Great App. Would like more options. This app is great if you are doing a pure Starting Strength routine. The ability to change progressive weight increases and modifying routines could use a bit of work to make it more user friendly. Going forward, I would love to see this app incorporate more customization, including the ability to include additional warmup sets and add in additional exercises for each workout. This seems to be the next evolution in this app as many users will segue into Practical Programming or similar intermediate programming after several months of basic Starting Strength workouts. It would be great to keep track of exercises well into the future and to develop custom workouts into the program after graduating from Starting Strength. I would give this program 6 stars if it included Texas Cafe Classics..Version: 1.13.05

Good, but could be betterA very good app, but one that could be better, and one the should be, given its sticker price. The app hasn’t been updated in many months, which might not bode ill, but certainly doesn’t bode well, either. A few things I’d like to see added: 1. Better integration of the chin up. 2. A timer for the entire workout. 3. A more intelligent AI for determining weights for warmup sets or the ability to enter custom weights for accuracy’s sake. (Why a warmup set of 90 lbs, let’s say, for the squat, when 92 lbs is close enough and more quickly set up? Time isn’t everything, but why waste it? I don’t need the app to tell me this, of course, but I do need the app to let me record the weights I actually used.) I’m sure other improvements could be made. Let me repeat: this is a very good app. But like muscles, it won’t improve by staying still..Version: 1.18.10

Great for 40-somethings tooThis app makes it so easy to follow the program in the weight room. I’m 43 and haven’t seriously worked out in 7-8 years. Now I’ve followed the program (including sleep and nutrition) and the results are phenomenal, basically exactly what Rich says will happen to a guy who has 30%+ body fat. My weight is holding steady. My body fat is dropping while my muscle is increasing at an almost unbelievable rate. The stuff outside the weight room is still on me. Getting enough calories and protein is hard and my fam is concerned about the amount of whole milk I’m drinking. Getting 7-8+ hrs sleep every night is a lifestyle change. But this app makes everything else easy..Version: 1.1900087

Great for tracking linear progression!!I love this app! It has info from the book with video demonstrations that make it next to impossible to misunderstand the combination of the movements and program. With that said, I do wish there was a little more freedom with program structure. When reaching the end of LP it may be necessary for some to change certain things, such as 5 sets of 3 on press instead of 3 sets of 5. Also, 2 sets of 3 instead of 1 set of 5 on deadlift. However, I realize that such changes would earn a “not doing the program” stamp from the SSCs, and if a person has gotten that far in their training they should have a composition notebook to log all of this anyway, so maybe my suggestion would not apply. All in all, if a person wants to start LP, this app is very handy. Great work Mick!.Version: 1.18.8

Great strength training appI’ve been using this App since it first launched and it was great when it came out and it’s only gotten better. The user interface for each exercise is very intuitive, the available charts are great to see your progress, and it’s nice having access to the book as a reminder when needed. I love having the warmup sets done for me and also what plates to load since I don’t like doing math on public. This is a great app and I will continue to use for years to come. **Please add functionality for advanced programming. One feature that would be nice to have is the ability to change the work set weight for each set, and the ability to adjust the reps for each work set..Version: 1.18.12

They best way to track your Novice Linear ProgressionI keep two things close to the rack when I am lifting. Starting Stength Basic Barbell Training 3rd Edition, and my phone with the SS app. I write my training down in a paper journal too, but this app has a very useful tool that automagically calculates your warmups for you, and using plates that you have on hand. That as well as the important bits of the chapters in the book, stop-motion videos of the lifts, and tracking of your linear progression graphically as well as showing totals really keeps your head clear about where your training is going. It shouldn’t be free, but it is. Use it like you paid for it, and it will pay for itself..Version: 1.18.8

Optimal program, suboptimal appThe program works, is everything good. The app does not allow you to adhere to the program very well beyond the complexity level of an early novice. As a late stage novice, program complexity begins to increase in the form of a light day for mid week workouts, decreased deadlifting frequency, rep scheme changes for upper body movements, bodyweight chin-ups progressing toward weighted chins, etc. The app makes some of these things difficult to log and others are not supported at all. This app will help you follow the program and get stronger by a significant margin - because the program works. But take it upon yourself to invest in the Starting Strength book as well, because the app is best used as a supplementary tool to help you get started on your journey through the book. The program gets 5 stars. The app gets 3.Version: 1.18.12

The Right Thing to DoNo matter what your age, sex, or level of strength, I have found this to be the right way to get strong. Some of us might not be interested in the entire lifestyle that is mandatory to max this program out( if you are you are going to be really strong), however everyone should form their foundational strength using this system. There is absolutely no question that the previous statement is a fact. I recommend that you do yourself one of the biggest favors you will ever do if your lifetime and use this program to get strong. I promise you that if you put 100% effort into it you will reap rewards beyond your wildest dreams, and not only in a physical sense..Version: 1.18.8

Love this app!The “Starting Strength” approach to barbell training is the best program that I have been able to stick to. Simple and effective. It isn’t confusing with a ton of different lifts. You do 4 lifts (5 if you power clean) 3 times a week. That’s it! The app itself if straight forward and has some info from the book. I highly recommend picking up the book as well, but the app got me by for 3 weeks until I finally broke down and bought the book. The app calculates your warmup sets and even tells you which plates you need to put on the bar for weight you are working with. You have spent more money on your morning coffee in the last two days....STOP reading reviews and just buy the app already, you will thank yourself in 8 weeks when you are much stronger than you are now. My squat is up to 230lbs after starting at 80 lbs......I’m only on my 8th week. My deadlift is up to 255 and I’m still up 10 lbs every workout, I’ve never deadlifted before in my life. BEST $9 I’VE EVER SPENT ON ANYTHING STRENGTH & FITNESS RELATED..Version: 1.18.10

It's like having a personal trainerI wish I followed this program from the beginning of my lifting career back when I started in highschool. I have a gift of being rediculously strong (which has caused many injuries sure to improper form and training) and this app promoted that. I started squatting my 3x5 work sets with 95 (I'm 38 and have had 6 one surgeries). Before this program I thought I would never squat again due to my knee injuries. Within 2 months I'm up to squatting 275 for my 3x5 work sets with absolute ease. I feel like I could do much more but I'm taking it slow and playing or smart. I love this app and especially the book. I'm a lifer!!!.Version: 1.18.10

Read the book, use the app!I read the book about a year ago and started a workout program based on Rippertoe’s recommendations, but kind of pooped out after about 3 mo. I would forget what weights to advance, what reps I had done and my firm got sloppy. I tried detailed diagrams, log books and even spread sheets, but now am using the app. It’s very well laid out, customizable and has text to refer to if needed. I’ve been using it about two months and it is keeping me honest. Only negative is you can’t modify a prior work out if you entered it incorrectly or submitted a partially completed work out early by accident..Version: 1.19.02

Great but could be betterI am a real believer in Starting Strength and love the results I’ve seen. I appreciate being able to reference the chapters and videos right in the app. My app complaints are: the timer...still. My app is up to date and even though it states in the most recent update that the background timer was fixed, mine still goes bonkers frequently. Why is the programming limited, as to not include the back extensions and novice routine that alternates deadlift and power cleans every fifth workout? (Starting Strength p. 297) It appears there’s only options for workouts A or B, with or without chins and cleans, in this app. It would make sense to include the full capability of what Rip recommends for novices..Version: 1.18.12

Very helpfulI think anyone following Starting Strength should use this app. Even if you aren't, I still think it would be useful. I used to use Google Sheets for programming--and I may eventually go back when programming needs to be more tailored--but even then the timer and quickly figuring out plates is invaluable. Even if you reach a point of utilizing different lifts I think it's still nice to use (for example there's no power snatch option but I still can incorporate them by adjusting the work weight). And I love the progress charts. All in all probably my most used app beyond phone, email, etc..Version: 1.18.8

Fantastic App for Gains! After having some friends tell me about the Starting Strength method, I purchased the book and got the app. This is indispensable for a first time lifter like myself for making sure I'm following the program to the letter. Plus, the method introduced me to Mark, who is absolutely hysterical. The only thing missing is an Apple Watch version of the app. It would be great to sync the workout tracker to an Apple Watch so I don't need to carry my phone around the gym. Not going to take any stars away, but perhaps something to consider. Keep up the great work and work on that hip drive!.Version: 1.19.06

Start with the book (s)!!!Rippetoe is a concise and clear communicator, and a fount of knowledge. I’ve lifted on and off with this program for a long time and never cease to be amazed by the beauty of the Novice Linear Progression. I’ve built tons of confidence by simply doing the program exactly as described. I’m 50, with issues, but learn something new about myself every time I get under the bar. I think everyone new to lifting should start here, I’ve no doubt most who do will stay here too..Version: 1.13.07

Great improvements and even better resultsLove his app. I’ve been back on this program after half assing it the last time I tried. I’m two months in and I’m 100 pounds up on deadlifts, squats and just hit 135 on shoulder press. Helps me effectively keep track of my workouts which I need since I’m in school and I don’t need another planner. When I need to de-load there’s no wondering about weight, it’s right there for you. Even the movements are there. Get this app, the book and start changing your life..Version: 1.19.08

Great appThis app has been a great tool to have during my linear progression. I like how it helps plan out the warm up sets. I realized I was doing too much weight and volume on my warmups which affected my work sets. The timer is helpful to make sure you rest long enough too. The app aligns perfectly with the starting strength model of A and B work outs. It has videos of each lift and segments of The Book too. Highly customizable and well thought out. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that it's a little glitchy here and there and a little tedious to input past workouts..Version: 1.18.9

Great app to keep you on trackThis app makes it simple to cruise through the beginning of linear progression. Combine this app with the starting strength book and the Barbell Logic podcast and you can get pretty far on your own before you need to start changing things up. The bar calculator shows you what plates you need to load on the bar and the timer keeps you on pace to be done in about an hour. Trust the process and take those rest days and you will be stronger than yesterday..Version: 1.18.14

Great App for everyone.I’m a novice when it comes to power lifting. Wanted to get into it for strength and conditioning as well as the new upcoming Army fitness test. I’ll just give you my experience. Started at 155# squat, 185# bench and 200# DL (for the sets of 5). In 6 wks my workout yesterday was 255# squat, 245# bench, and 300# DL. I also completed my first power lifting meet this week totaling squat 315, bench 275 and DL at 415 to break my goal of 1000lbs!!! Happy with the results of this app and happy to have joined the 1000lb club. Not bad for 32yo non athletic guy just trying to get stronger..Version: 1.18.12

Top Notch Training ProgramI never leave these, in fact the fact the progress chart forces landscape orientation and cannot be exited resulting in a forced crash, and even despite that glitch it still saved my workout in progress and the program is the real deal. It works and just keeps getting harder in the NLP. Fantastic, already told family and friends about it. Their podcast is also pretty fantastic!.Version: 2.2

Try this programIf you are doing the starting strength program and understand this program (I recommend researching and/or reading the Starting Strength Basic Barbell Training book) but this app does have the Forums which is great for information you have questions on; this app pairs very well with the program. It tracks your weight jumps, when you choose to deload, and suggests when adding assistance exercises. I use this app and use it to track all my workouts!.Version: 1.18.8

Manage your own workoutsI've been using this for nearly a year, and the latest updates are great. I don't know what else you could need, short of a coach. It tells you what weights to use for warmup and work sets, gives you a timer for between sets, tells you when to increase workset weight and how much, and tracks your progress. It's user-friendly, easy to use in the gym. So long as the app is open, your phone won't go into sleep mode between sets..Version: 1.18.7

Will always recommend. A steal for less than $10.Been going for about 5 weeks now, and am very satisfied. Make sure to read the book. Using it, I have gone from just mimicking the movement to truly understanding the movement, and my knees and back have thanked me. It’s such a relief to not have to plan workouts as it fills in all the info you need in one button. If you’re ready to change your life, I would highly recommend this..Version: 1.18.10

Fantastic appIf you are doing starting strength (and you should be) this app is definitely worth the investment. Very helpful for tracking your progress! The only reason I didn't give it five stars is a few minor kludgy issues with the app - like if you accidentally start a training day and delete it, you have to jump through too many hoops to get it back in sync with what your routine should be. Minor stuff but a bit of a pain when you need to do it. But this is a great and inexpensive app! Worth every penny!.Version: 1.18.8

Starting StrengthIf you are new to Starting Strength prepare yourself for the best strength app ever. The app is perfectly simple. It allows many adjustments and once set the app handles the progression until further adjustments are required. If you need help understanding what weight to begin with or how to perform the lifts Starting Strength has tons of content (books,YouTube, podcast, website, online and in person coaching). An outstanding group of people I am so glad they made this app..Version: 1.18.8

Great App for staying on trackI purchased this app to help me stay on track with the starting strength training program and it’s helped tremendously. The timer is great for keeping your rest periods and the plate counter helps think about one less thing in between sets. The progression graphs are great to see how the program has built your strength and there are lots of tutorials for the various lifts built in. This was a great purchase along with the books..Version: 1.19.07

Middle Age Newb Perspective!I own all the SS books and have watched loads of the online videos which are all very educational and informative. This app is a fantastic asset for my newbie programming and data logging and makes things very simple so that I don’t get distracted or overwhelmed with all the fitness noise that is out there. IMO progressive overloading session after session, week after week reveals undeniable results! Great job SS..Version: 2.2

A logbook app that got it rightExcellent app. I am accustomed to book logs . Tried various apps for log books and never happy with the functionality . SS did their homework on developing this app. The app cost is value added ….videos , excerpts from the book with the app. The programming is done for you just click and execute the lift , however their is functionality included to tweak modify weights and sets ..Version: 1.1900087

IT WORKS!!!!I did this program in the military to build strength and it worked well then. I’ve been out now for nearly 10 years and I started this programming again. I love it and it still works. It does help to read the books and to watch as many fishing videos on the proper form. Would recommend this to anyone that wants to get truly strong and not just look good standing in a mirror..Version: 1.18.12

GainsThis app has helped me regain strength from a back injury and again after a knee injury. If you do not like DOMS and have some patience with progressing this app will help keep you on track with a simple barbell workout. I suggest reading the book that goes along with this app to truly do the program. I have been using this app for over 3 years minus an 8 week stretch recovering from a torn meniscus (non-weight lifting related)..Version: 1.20.01

Great method, great appThe app follows the Starting Strength method as described in the book. The app is designed well and serves its function well. My only remarks are that the timer stops when the app goes to background mode and that the app sometimes fails to launch on the first tap — the logo cones up but then disappears and I have to tap the icon again. It always launches on the second tap, so no big deal..Version: 1.18.14

Good app | Great workout!I began following Starting Strength almost four years ago as a way to alleviate years of back pain from a previous injury. A friend and SS coach convinced me to give it a try. I trained under him. Used the book for additional insight and then found this app. It includes great guidance from the book on technique which is a “must” for safe execution. If you can’t find a coach, get the app and follow it!.Version: 1.18.14

Dissatisfied but it sort of worksFirst it doesn’t use conventional iOS UI elements so it is clunky to begin with. Next it has all sorts of strange behaviors, everything from the screen going black while it thinks, to not saving my workouts or remembering them across devices even when you create an account. This just should be so much better for the price they are charging. I would rather have just used the strong app and make the routines myself instead of spending money on this..Version: 1.18.16

Great app, but....I love this program. It works and has helped me come along way from an empty barbell. The app works great and I love how it includes the book for reference. My one complaint isn’t about the app, it’s what to do after starting strength. I wish Rip would do more on an intermediate program and how to transfer out of starting strength. Love your guys work and thank you for the great app!.Version: 1.20.2

Worth the priceTen bucks?! I’m glad I paid it. I’m 51 and was looking for a straight forward weight training program. This app guides you through the Starting Strength (SS) workout including warmups, squat, bench/overhead press and deadlift. Plus tracks your training progress and provides “how to’s” straight from SS book chapters (I use an iPhone 6s). I’d recommend purchasing the book as good form is key to preventing old man injuries..Version: 1.18.10

Very helpful and instructiveAt 73 years old, I have found this app extremely important in doing a bit more than maintaining. The instruction videos on form are very helpful and the variance availability depending on your skill, strength and goals is perfect. Customer service help with the app is also good. The only complaint, which they are working on is a landscape version, which will work on iPad so one can use the stand and attached keyboard..Version: 1.20.01

Thank You!I love everything about Starting Strength and the app makes planning and tracking easy! I’ve read “Starting Strength” and “The Barbell Prescription” and the this app ties it all together. I’m 1 month in and significantly stronger and I look forward to the training sessions. I’m 57 and finally found what works for me. Thank you for helping me “Stave Off Death”.Version: 1.19.02

Does everything but the liftingI’m just barely able to count my reps while lifting, let alone keep track of sets or do the simple addition necessary to figure out how much weight to put on the bar. This app does most of the thinking for me, calculating warm-up sets and weights, keeping track of how much weight to lift, and even timing my rest periods. It’s great and I’d be lost without it..Version: 1.18.8

Loved the book; love the appFor the price of the app, you get features like tracking, timers, which plates to load (it’s caught my mistake more than once) and a rudimentary coaching. You also get complete access to the book, which I paid more than the price of the app for. If Starting Strength is a training method you are interested in pursuing, this app is an excellent value..Version: 1.18.10

Really helps keep trackI’d like to see some more frequent updates. When writing notes, in particular, there’s no intuitive way to save the note after you’ve written it. Hard to change inputs at times, like when you’ve been on a break for some time and can’t start back at your prior weights. Otherwise, it definitely helps with keeping track of my lifts every week..Version: 1.19.03

SS AppThis app is great to get you going on your road to being stronger. I agree that you MUST read the book as the app only has selections from the book on the lifts. The warmup calculator and rest timers are amazing. Even with the training log in the app a paper log is a must since you can’t input any rep number, for example chins say x12 if I did 5 I can’t change it..Version: 1.18.14

Very good appVery good app for following the programming. The timers are really nice but it took a little experimentation to figure out how to use them correctly for my desired pace and auto starting the timers. I like the plate feature but it lacks knowing that I only have a pair of each weight so it will suggest I use two pairs of 35# plates and I have to figure out how to get there with what I have. Not a deal breaker but would be nice to enhance that feature..Version: 1.18.8

Better than it was. Buggy graphicsGood job adding programs beyond novice. However, lots of rendering/display bugs on iPhone 12 Pro. Frequent force quits required to get graphs in the correct orientation, to stop the workout info from being displayed in comically tiny fonts, or to just get out of screens with no exit because the back button is out of display boundaries. Still, better than it was, I suppose..Version: 1.1900087

PerfectThis app work perfect for anyone looking to just get stronger If you are bad at keep track off you training sessions what you did this is the app for you tracks and assets in proper weight progression amazing Thanks.Version: 1.13.05

Perfect in every way except:It would’ve been nice to have apple watch version so that we can track the move, sets, reps and weights on our watches! Frankly id even pay extra for it. Wouldve been a nice option.Version: 1.13.07

Excellent programA friend recommended this to me after he had a lot of success with Mr. Rippetoe’s starting strength book. I got the app for convenience sake and am impressed with the features and the ease of use. I would not say that I am novice lifter, but after having been stalled strength wise for around a year, I’ve had some massive gains, the likes of which I haven’t seen since I started weight training. Over 10% increase in all of my work sets, and a 20lb body weight increase. None of my pants fit anymore because my thighs have packed on so much muscle. All of these gains have come in 2.5 months of consistent training, rest and diet. I am looking forward to see how much farther this program will take me. I would recommend this app and the program to anyone from brand new beginner to seasoned lifter..Version: 1.13.03

Great app!I’m very pleased with this app! I found it to be a very convenient tool while doing Starting Strength. I have recommended several times..Version: 1.20.2

Perfect training appI’ve hit personal records in quick time due to this app. Perfect companion..Version: 1.19.06

Minor bugs but incredible supportI had issues creating an account, but the developer took their personal time to assist me and had a solution very quickly. I’ve used this app in the past and loved it, and it seems better than the last time I used it. Highly recommended!.Version: 1.19.06

Great programThis is been a fantastic program for me to learn strength training. I find the website and forums particularly useful as the added benefit of using this app for the program..Version: 1.19.02

A little more customizationWould be nice to be able to change bench press to dumbell press for folks like me that don't have the luxury of a spotter at our home gyms. I realize this is a novice progression and keeping it simple is the point but I don't think this is too far off base..Version: 1.19.03

Great Progam and AppThis program is superb. If you remain disciplined to the tenets of Starting Strength and a disciplined diet program with consistency, your strength and lean muscle mass will develop and improve in a no BS , safe and structured way. This is real training , not exercerrobic Metx snake oil nonsense . The app has some glitches and could use some adjusting to make it a bit more user friendly but otherwise it works for its purpose..Version: 1.19.03

It goodApp is good but it can be glitchy time to time.Version: 1.19.02

Great AppBest strength training app.Version: 1.18.19

Amazing companion to the SS NLP ProgramHighly recommend this app for any beginners to lifting. It’s simple to use and helps you stay on track. Tons of features and functionality and most importantly, it’s helped me get much stronger than I’ve ever been. A very good investment..Version: 1.18.19

Never too Late to StartI took up weight training when I turned sixty. A friend recommended this app. It is safe, shows progress and if you think you Hong’s are getting too heavy you can deloaded some weight. Great app keeps me on track and motivated..Version: 1.18.15

Some kinks in the program but goodSometimes when switching to my next exercise the app displays the wrong set number and weight. When I open the app the window closes and I have to open it again. When I advanced to deadlifts once every 4 or 5 training days and adding power cleans, the app doesn’t follow my routine as laid out in the starting strength book. It would be nice if there was an option to switch to that. I have to manually switch it every time. Love that the app calculates my warm up sets for me. Love that I don’t have to write down my program in advance anymore and carry a book with me. Even with some of the problems I enjoy having this app for my training..Version: 1.18.18

SS AppGreat program, great app. The key is to absorb ALL the information provided and follow it rigorously. Doing half the program will net you no results. Get serious, and get strong! Good luck with your training journey!.Version: 1.18.14

This is the app you are looking forStarting Strength is the best way for anyone to become stronger. The app is not needed but it’s a very useful tool for anyone following the program, because it makes it easy to keep meticulous logs to track your training and gives you the essential content (programming, form, etc) of the Starting Strength program in a simple package. There are also little perks- the app tells you exactly which plates to put on the bar for your warmup and work sets, for instance. I’d pay $100 for the app, so I’m happy it costs about $15..Version: 1.18.13

Like it a lot!Great app- love the features and takes the guess work out of program adjustments for a novice. Very glitchy loading on iPhone is only complaint. Once you’re in, it works well..Version: 1.18.14

Blown Away!In all honesty I would probably suggest for people to start with this app before Starting Strength and then read the book and watch the YouTube videos The app is fast, reliable and the way it’s broken down makes everything a breeze!.Version: 1.18.12

Love itUnreal app. Worth the money..Version: 1.18.10

Exactly what I wanted in a weight training app!Great app to accompany the starting strength program. I hope to see the advanced-novice and intermediate programs included in the future !?!.Version: 1.18.10

AwesomeTop notch program for beginner or intermediate or just getting back into lifting after a lay off. Don't overthink or edit the program. Do your fives and eat to fuel yourself!!.Version: 1.18.10

Best app for powerliftingI use it everyday, very helpful. I would suggest that it asks you if you want to do increments from your last workout, because as soon as you reach plateau you have to change the workload every time..Version: 1.18.10

Simple easyLove this app.Version: 1.18.8

Thank you RipI lost interest in barbell training before this app was released. Now I'm back at it. This is the first app anyone should get if they are interested in gaining strength. Follow the app and don't add anything, success is guaranteed..Version: 1.18.8

Keeps me on trackAs a novice, I appreciate: that it tells me what plates to put on, timer, instructions to refer to and it keeps the linear progression going. The update made it an even better app than before!.Version: 1.18.8

Great Start!Fantastic app to get you started on your weight training goals. Helped me learn what weight to load a bar with..Version: 1.17.7

Perfect app for Starting StrengthIt took me a little bit of time to suss out the interface, but that's on me. This is the perfect app for SS, from warm up sets to working sets. If I could edit power cleans for bent over rows and add accessory exercises, it would be perfect for my needs They are constantly updating the app though, so I'm sure that feature will be added at some point. Good stuff!.Version: 1.18.7

Starting Strength made EasyGreat app for anyone doing the SS program. Super easy to use and follow and has an even better workout tracker to see all of your stats..Version: 1.17.7

Does the job well!A great app for getting my strength training done. Progress is easy and if you follow the instructions of the book, safe and efficient. Love the plate calculator and timer too!.Version: 1.17.7

GreatGreat for organizing your lifts & keeping you on track to progress. Does just what it needs to & promises..Version: 1.17.7

Great app for Starting Strength programsVery useful app. Keeps me on track. Only thing I need as it has timers and plate display built in. Ignore the comment about women in a previous review; this is completely agnostic. Developer actively releasing features and squashing bugs..Version: 1.17.7

AwesomeWorks great for any barbell trainee really.Version: 1.17.2

What about women?I use this app every workout. I like being able to visualize my progress. Still a bit too basic to replace some of my current go-to apps though. Keep up the great work..Version: 1.17.7

Great appIt's about time this sort of app was released! It's great to be able to quickly reference parts of the Starting Strength book without carrying around the book with you. The ability to track your workouts is also great. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the workout tracker doesn't allow you to switch exercises for pull-ups/back extension version of the program. Please add that in! Great job otherwise..Version: 1.11
