Scary as all heck but good

The game has a pretty interesting storyline which gets you to want to keep playing. The movement controls can be frustrating especially when trying to run or move into a space off screen. Sometimes the apparitions can be irritating with the patterns they move in sometimes being impossible to get by without dying several times first. These are just easy game fixes or bug fixes that can be changed. The game as a whole is something that I keep going back to being that it is good enough that I'm in a rush to finish it. I wish there were more puzzles and not so much tap to achieve type things but definitely worth play in my opinion. Just be aware that the nervousness that apparitions give you make it a bit scary even if the game itself isn't scary. It's more the suspense that will keep you on your toes.

So scary (but cool)

I like this game, it’s really interesting and cool. Every time a match goes out, though... also I didn’t know before that you can die (I learned the hard way). Also for all you people who are like “Horror! Cool! How scary can a mobile game be?” I am telling you VERY SCARY. I WAS ONE OF YOU. CONSIDER YOURSELVES WARNED.

Nat Is GreatVersion: 1.3
Really cool

Just enough suspense and horror. The storyline is really interesting. Moving can be challenging, but i’m going to try the virtual pad. ( I don’t know what that is though. Lol).

Very cool, stylish horror game - one of the best horror games on App Store

Great job by devs adding control options of touch or analog control which is much, much smoother and more responsive. Everything about this game I love - the stylish comic book graphic style B&W noir, the great sound effects that add to the taut and tense atmosphere, the intriguing story that makes you want to explore and search everywhere to unravel the mystery, and just the experience in general. It’s such a creepy, suspenseful game that will have you scared to move into the next room. The devs ingeniously obtain this constant tenseness by using light and darkness. The uses of matches and extremely scarce light sources (lamps, candles and some chandeliers) is used to its full effectiveness. The game never cheats you either on this, as they do give you plenty of matches and opportunities to keep yourself safe from the ghosts that haunt the house. There’s definitely a survival horror aspect to this game in that respect, and you will ‘die’ occasionally, but the frequent checkpoints and saves make up for this. Combined with this ghost story is also a brilliant noir mystery to be unearthed which is more complex than most may think; the game definitely requires multiple playthroughs (and a smart move on the devs part is everything you collect in your previous playthrough you get to keep in your next! So no unnecessary finding the same stuff twice, which also helps with obtaining achievements). I seriously think if you enjoy a great horror game mixed with a great mystery game, you will love this as I did...I know the controls are absolutely frustrating right now, but the devs have told me they are completely reworking the controls to allow the player to use an analog interface which will make the game so much more enjoyable and less frustrating in certain parts. This is a well-crafted game in all other areas without a doubt.

4*s for the theory but....in praxis? see below

Edit: Yes, it is as I hoped. I just got a response within 12 hours and they have apologized for the inconvenience and explained how to get a refund. What amazing customer service! 5 stars for the service. HOWEVER, they updated it now and, while this is a step in the right direction, it should be noted that this game is virtually unplayable on older models. I have iPad 2 retina. Takes 5 minutes to move across the screen. No joke. I have faith though so I'll wait a few more updates before claiming a refund. Older review: It crashes every time but I'm sure they'll be responsive to my email. They have a 5 at present but this may change. Stay tuned.

White Night Negative Reviews and Ratings

Excellent Story, Horrible Playability

This game is hard to manoeuvre which makes it more frustrating than fun. The story is wonderful, and the black and white noir theme is interesting, but combined with a non-user friendly way to play (you can’t control your main guy very well, the cinematic angles make to see, there’s no map, you can pickup or select items without wasting unnecessary time and walking around aimlessly to try and pick things up, etc) it’s too difficult. Still enjoyable, but perhaps you can revisit how this game feels playing it on an app.

ErincarmellaVersion: 1.3
Terrible

The controls are terrible, everything in the world has some cut scene to waste your time. Oh wow a shoe. Oh wow a painting of something you cannot see. Five minutes wasted on those two cut scenes. Character walks around in circles wasting more time. The white on black is a terrible idea. Gave me a migraine trying to play this game. Could of been the absolute boredom I felt as I tried to give it a shot. All the reviews say how scary it is, yet it was so badly done and drawn out I do not see what could be scary about it. Took 20 minutes to walk into the mansion and see some ghost. Not scary.

PatrickingoldenvalleyVersion: 1.3
Cool game but I die upon entry and no one at the company would help

I was enjoying playing the game until a glitch in the game saved it on chapter 4 in the attic but I die upon entry every time because one of those ghosts is right there. Contacted the company that makes the game and they were of no help whatsoever, all they need to do is send me a saved the game, but they can’t even do that. Terrible customer service.

Gruff McStuffinsVersion: 1.3
Unplayable

I have tried and tried to do simple things like make the man walk in a straight line down the road. He walks In circles a lot. He staggers. Sometimes he walks in a different direction and disappears into the darkness. Once I got him to go for a short distance and the camera view changed. Then he went back to walking in circles. Any enjoyment I may have gotten from this game is ruined by frustration with the controls. For me this game is unplayable.

CatPillowVersion: 1.3
Spooky and CRAZY suspensful, but controls need some work.

LOADS of suspense and a good story line, but the controls and touch zones are wonky at best.

Yoohoo2_2Version: 1.1
Zero stars. I need my refund.

Don’t buy this game. 1st, controls makes white night unplayable. 2nd story is not good at all. 3rd not scary. 4th, not a lot of work in this game from the developers. 5th, makes me feel like the developers didn’t even play white night and test the gameplay. DO NOT BUY White Night! Save your money and your time.

Dirty revolver is a thief.Version: 1.3
Extremely slow moving with frustrating controls

It had the potential of being a good game but the controls were so frustrating it became unplayable. The black and white is a cool effect but then objects turn orange to let you know you can click on them which ruins the effect.

ThejameskyleVersion: 1.1
Unplayable

This game is one big glitch. Can't even play--I just sit there watching a tiny leaf "move" frame by frame down a white screen with sillhouettes of trees and an occasional telephone pole appearing and disappearing waaaaay in the "background" while credits blip slowly and painfully toward me. No idea what it's supposed to be, but after twenty minutes of nothing, I quit. Wish I could get refund.

PauvrepetiteVersion: 1.1
So. Slow.

The main character is supposed to be injured. Cool. Except, he walks at the speed of an injured person in real life. You spend a lot of time waiting for him to get where you want him to walk. There is no way to hasten this. Played for 20 minutes, nearly died of boredom, poking and waiting. Do not recommend.

TacheNoireVersion: 1.3
Control pad needs work..

Control pad is weird it your character will only go forward if you slide up you should make it where wherever I slide to my character would just go straight

CerealyaaaVersion: 1.3
Terrible Controls

Spooky game that I really wanted to love. The controls are awful. Simply interacting with objects takes way too long and it's even worst when you need to run away from apparitions.

Spooky-dumplingVersion: 1.3
Really wanted to like this game.

Unfortunately the tap controls are iffy at best and the virtual d-pad is programmed incorrectly (you will constantly spin in circles when trying to go left or right and going "down" does nothing). The story looks cool though.

Simbalou94Version: 1.3
Zero stars

Unplayable. I seriously wish I had paid attention to all the reviews that told me how bad the gameplay is. It’s been a long time since I had a game experience this awful.

TextombVersion: 1.3
Can I have my money back?

Because paying 5 bucks to see your character walking in a circle is absolutely not worth it.

ArweawesomeVersion: 1.3
Unplayable. Needs fixed

Immediately crashes after hitting new game. Cant even play a game i paid 5$ for. Needs fixed.

Great Game, horrible controls

I own this game on several platforms. The story is great. The controls on the Galaxy 10S Max are terrible.

Too much cropped

I played the game on the Xbox One. I really loved it, and was excited when I discovered it was ported to iOS. However, there was a lot of complaints about the controls with the reviews, and after playing it for a bit, I can see why. The main issue I’m having so far is the crop. Compared to the original version I played on Xbox, the iOS version has areas cropped to a point that the opening credits at the beginning of the game are cropped out, not allowing you to properly see them. And it’s like that with a lot of things. The areas are sometimes so cropped, you can’t see key things you’re suppose to see, or you might actually walk out of the field of view, and have no idea where you went, because your character is outside the crop. It really hurts the games, because it’s a dark game already. Cropping the field of view outside the level’s original intent just makes it harder to navigate. And the touch controls can be hit or miss. Thankfully they fixed that part with a virtual stick, but the crop is still an issue, making the experience less enjoyable compared to the console/PC version.

C.C.ReviewsVersion: 1.3
Bad controls

The atmosphere and music is cool, but the controls are impossible. You can’t just tap on objects to investigate, you have to tap next to it, wait for your character to be in position, and then once the object is highlighted you can search the item. This is really annoying, especially since the character won’t always face the object, so you have to keep taping - and sometimes you go to press the search icon, but miss so you end up sending the character back across the room. It shouldn’t be this difficult! Also, it’s really hard to make out anything on an iPhone. Once learning this was a port from a console, I started to understand why it was so awkward. Unless the designers do some major updates, I would caution anyone not to buy this.

EliseHaskellVersion: 1.3
Wasting a lot of time trying to pick up objects

The game is fun. The concept is great. However too much time is wasted waiting on the character interacting with objects. e.g. standing next to the bath - prompt takes minutes before can interact.

Le MedecinVersion: 1.3
Small graphics and complicated

I wouldn’t waste your money.... I personally found this game to be good in theory but needs a lot more work done to UI. I found the text was extremely small and interacting with objects was slow and tedious. Sorry - I can see hard work went into the graphics of this game but it has a long ways to go still with user interaction and keeping user interest in my opinion.

IlovecpstyleVersion: 1.1
Badddddddd control

Easy to waste 2 minutes on picking up a simple objet just cuz your caracter refuse to look the right way Frustrating and anoying At that point Not worth it at all
