Great app but old interface was betterHave been using for a year or so. App works great and does what it says. However the interface has changed so much with different icons and compressed its very hard to click on the right button. For example, now the test results only show you the results vs in the past you could see the info that went along with it all in one line. It’s a mess. Please consider bringing back the old interface..Version: 4.0.6
Nice appI got a new iPhone 15, and am using this app to establish baseline measurements with a battery at 100% life. I ride a motorcycle, with a phone mount between the handlebars. Years ago I added a cheap qi wireless charge pad to it for my iPhone 11. When the iPhone was new the wireless charger was able to stay ahead of the power demands of the GPS antenna, running Apple Maps and/or SENIC navigation, as well as the Bluetooth link to my helmet. This past year with the iPhone battery aged to 70% capacity I noticed the qi charge pad could no longer keep up, and the iPhone slowly discharged as I traveled down the road. I got this app to let me test and diagnose the devices, but that large pothole in the road dislodged my iPhone from its mount in heavy traffic. I got a new iPhone now – and a case with a tether, to go with the new built in wireless fast charger phone mount. This app is giving me good information to compare with several years from now when this iPhone ages. My initial impression: The screen is static, giving no indication of it’s even working – until it puts up a banner saying the test has concluded. Perhaps the screen could have elapsed time ticking off the seconds, and a line of 5 lights could progressively turn green as the percentage of charge rises. That would keep the impatient user from aborting the test early out of frustration. Aside from that, I like it. It’s a keeper!.Version: 4.0.22
Great support from developerEdit: all issues were addressed. ———— Please add a conformation step before clearing results data. Very easy to accidentally delete all one's measurements otherwise. Also being able to edit the test configuration info after a test is run would be very helpful. Also where test results are displayed (at least on an iPhone X) the fields with the Name and Charge get cut off with no way to later see what was typed originally. Finally, there should be a note to users that the charging rate, or score, varies greatly with how full the battery is. Perhaps recommending all tests be done under 50% would be better than the 90% required now..Version: 2.1.0
Great Tool! What an outstanding app. I have multiple cables and charging devices and this let me determine which configurations were best and just as importantly, which were worst at charging my iPad Pro. Since I travel a lot I was pleasantly surprised to determine a thin cable charged just as quickly as a thick, bulky cable. On the other hand, I was disappointed to find out my Qualcomm 3.0 Quick Charger didn’t charge as fast as my NewerTech NuPower 60W adapter (fortunately the NuPower has 2 outputs so I can charge both my MacBook and iPad at the same time).Version: 2.1.4
The Best battery charging info appAt least this is the best battery charging info app that I have found. The programmer of this application constantly updates his product, and each version is greatly improved over the last version. If you wish to see what combination of charge and lightning connector works best, I believe this app is the one you are looking for. It was worth the $2.00 I spent quite a while ago, and the app is much improved..Version: 3.0.0
Solid app for the priceIt does have a handful options for the user to configure for their own needs. I don’t think it’s super accurate but seems to be able to give you a reasonable idea. I have one confusion though: what is the difference between “Amperes” and “Amperes 3”? I purchased two apps already but it seems the new one does the same thing as this one but I cannot find any upgrade options….Version: 4.0.17
Doesn’t work with MagSafe battery packI wanted to see how some stats on my MagSafe battery pack, but the app couldn’t detect that my phone was being charged. I tried changing the test configs to indicate it’s a wireless charger, but it still didn’t work. But does a good job with wired chargers. Overall good product, but wish it would work with wireless chargers too. Still, good stuff Andrew, keep up the good work..Version: 4.0.18
Too bad this can’t run completely in the backgroundI wish this could run in the background while you were still using the phone instead of having to leave the app open. It would be nice to be able to surf the Internet, text when needed, and check email etc. etc. Now anytime I get a phone call it resets the test. Kind of defeats the purpose....Version: 3.0.17
Great App!!Thank You Andrew, this app is perfect for my needs. I have the new iPhone Xs Max with fast charge capability. I purchased several adapters, (usb-c & usb-a) & wireless in both formats. I’m testing various cables by different manufacturers. With your app I am able to test all combinations so I can use the accessories with the best results! Also the ability to label the tests helps me keep my results organized! Great app! Keep up the good work!.Version: 2.1.5
Great Solution, Missing Some FeaturesI’ve been using Amperes for nearly 2 years and can confidently say it’s the best solution for testing & comparing chargers I’ve come across! My only “complaint“ is there’s currently no option to save charger/wire names and therefore have to be re-entered on subsequent tests after quitting the app. It’s not the end of the world but certainly makes testing the same equipment more cumbersome..Version: 3.0.17
App doesn’t reflect true chargingI’ve played with this app for a week now on different chargers. On wireless I’ve repositioned the phone in relation to the pad and have monitored the application. The app just doesn’t work. Readings will sometimes fluctuate greatly even when the phone is stationary and hasn’t been moved. I cannot recommend. Save your money..Version: 2.1.4
Good appThe app is good cause it allows me to see some info about my battery charge and it's really useful when u wonder why your battery charge is going down so fast. By the way you can test your battery so then you'll get exact results.Version: 2.1.4
Useful, but lackingI bought this because I thought the tests would show the charging wattage just like the free version of Ampere does. However it only shows the result in mA. Which is disappointing because I'm using it to evaluate two wireless chargers that were sold based one their wattage output.. I don't know why the free version would have that and not the paid. Additionally, the "export results" button doesn't work at all on my iPhone XS..Version: 2.1.5
Great at testing chargers, but timer alert is offI have found the app great at testing wireless charging, but with a few issues. Others have mentioned that when testing, you get no indication how far along the testing is. In addition, after clicking start., it can take awhile (enough to charge 5%) before the test actually starts running. Lastly, it’s really important when comparing chargers to test them at the same battery % on the phone (since iPhones charge slower at higher %). There is a timer function to alert you when the battery hits a certain % to account for this. Unfortunately when I set mine at 30%, it alerts me at 26%. Not so helpful..Version: 4.0.22
Prefer previous layoutsGreat app and use it for testing and reports. BUT ... the new layouts are terrible. I could see everything on one layout but now I have to pick an icon to view the data in a font that is 10 times too big. Bring back the more functional layout....Version: 4.0.1
Handy app for the guidedIt really helps me to get out of many problems! None of services provides me with the information as much as it does. Thanks to that app, I can measure the battery life duration and see whether it goes wrong and needs to get changed (a widespread IPhone problem)..Version: 2.1.4
Good jobDoes exactly what I wanted. Checks the charging speed of my devices to compare and know which cables and plugs are best. (Anker of course) Got a free app but it didn’t work. So paid the 2 bucks and worked right away with some other cool extras..Version: 4.0.8
Takes forever apparently!Followed the instructions and it just would stay on testing. Never gave result. I quit the test after 10 minutes with no results. App developer told me it takes as much as 10 minutes sometimes depending on the speed on my charger ..etc..Version: 2.0.1
Nice tool!Turned on to be very useful app for me. I have several old smartphones, and what I did with the help of this app - I rechecked the health and charging capability of each battery to know which one is worth it's recovery..Version: 2.1.4
Amps????It’s called amperes, I expected to be able to see the actual amps that were coming into the iPhone. I could measure the time it takes to charge to a certain percent myself. Please add an incoming amperage readout. And voltage please! I will move it up to five stars otherwise you can get this same stuff for free..Version: 2.1.4
Works well & usefulGreat service from the developers who got in touch to fix a problem I experienced. Thank you!.Version: 4.0.21
Very useful!Easy to use and provides a lot of useful information. I used it to test some new Lightning charging cables and found they were not as fast as claimed..Version: 4.0.6
Great app BUT!!Great app honestly, but the test configuration is bad, i mean i cant edit what i wrote after the test is done and what does the score mean exactly, because when you export, the score shows in the mA category, so lets say score turns out 1650, means its 1650 mA ? I really like this app hope they fix this issue and make the interface a bit better UPDATE* Developer fixed a bunch of issues and gave us a chance to edit the results.Version: 2.1.0
Great app!I’ve been looking for this kind of app for a long time but this one is the best. I need to watch a lot of my charging devices, so this is really helpful app. And it’s easy to use.Version: 2.1.4
Used for YEARSAnd i still enjoy it even though its not what it used to be.Version: 4.0.22
Very gratifying appIt’s very interesting to see the different rates at which the phone charges under different conditions. I love that I can name and describe each test for my records..Version: 2.1.5
Only way! After losing my iphone on a roller coaster, amperes is the only way I can tell that it's charging successfully!.Version: 4.0.23
Awesome!I love being able to test my chargers and see how much power my device is pulling in. The developer responded very quickly to me as well.Version: 4.0.6
Very useful. My iPad is too old so I haven't the monitoring function of the battery. This app helps me to evaluate the condition and see which apps "eating" the charge..Version: 2.1.4
All good butIt would be nice to be able to take a picture of the cable and save it in the test info so it would be easier to remember what cable is best.Version: 2.1.4
Works as advertisedOn the test page there should be a statement that charging is a slowwwww process and and that it could take as much as 15 minutes to get a result.Version: 2.1.4
Uniquely usefulIt’s a bummer that Apple doesn’t tell us how powerful a charger is. This app is not a perfect estimate but it’s the best we have.Version: 4.0.23
ThanksI got this app to check which of my cables and charges are faster and batter. The info provided was accurate.Version: 2.1.4
Looking for a true MA meter appApp knows the size of the battery. Calculates the time it take the phone to charge 1% then it provides the score. Not a true amp meter.Version: 1.6.4
It has potential! The only app that I could find that works..Version: 3.0.10
Battery capacity Don’t workThe hole reason I bought the app was to be alerted when my battery is at a certain charge amount. However it does not alert me at the set charge number..Version: 4.0.7
5+A very useful app. Recommended to those who want to know more about their battery.Version: 2.1.4
Works well despite limited / restricted OS functionsThis is a very well-designed app, giving one accurate estimates of charge voltage and current, despite the limited-to-non-existent ability to directly read these metrics via iOS functions. As of iOS 17 (if not earlier) it works around these by polling for changes in battery charge level, in effect reverse engineering the voltage and current from those changes over time..Version: 4.0.22
Great app checking cables / plugsI have tried a few apps for testing my cables and plugs and amperes works the best out of them. Nice interface..Version: 4.0.18
Awesome appHave been trying different configurations of cables and chargers with my iPhone 8 Plus, and the app tells me there is a phenomenal difference between cables, on the same charger!.Version: 3.0.17
Close to perfectI don’t usually write reviews but I have to say this app is exactly what I was looking for and well worth the cost. It gives an approximate calculation based on the time it takes to charge a few percent. I was doing this manually to test my wireless and wired charging speeds, but the app is far simpler and more accurate than what I was doing. Very happy with it..Version: 3.0.1
