How do I cancel the Vrbo Vacation Rentals subscription?

Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your Apple ID (your name) at the top, go to Subscriptions, select Vrbo Vacation Rentals from the list and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you can keep using the app until then. See Apple's official subscription management page for details.

How do I delete the Vrbo Vacation Rentals app?

Touch and hold the Vrbo Vacation Rentals icon on the Home Screen, choose Remove App and then Delete App. Important: if you have an active subscription, deleting the app does not cancel it automatically - you must first cancel your subscription using the steps above.

Review Withdrawals

VRBO doesn’t let you edit a review you no longer agree with because the host did something to change your mind. Okay. But I should be able to withdraw, remove, or delete it easily, right? Wrong. You have to call or email customer service and in my case I talked to one representative that closed my case after I sent text screenshots between me the guest and the property host. Was told by a second and third representative that my request has to go to a special customer service committee for review of my review that I should be able to simply remove myself. Not asking to edit it. I’m wanting it removed entirely. It shouldn’t take an act of Congress to simply remove a rating and review of a property when circumstances change and when that review is no longer consistent with your experience with the property and the host and it was over generous to an ungrateful host who asked you to give them a five star rating to help boost their views and you do even when it wasn’t deserved but you thought they were nice yet didn’t return the favor when they rated you. You should be able to at least not help increase their property visibility, enabling them profit off your review when they may be hurting your chances with the next host by their unfair rating. Care about guests that book through your site instead of just the hosts! Not happy with VRBO. My telling you to take my words down because I don’t want them there should be all you need to take a rating/review down, not a committee review. Irrational.

Great Experience

The area is so different from anything we used to, that it was like visiting another world. We live in the country, but close to a highway, and our home still has too much light and noise from bugs, frogs, and passing trucks. Not a problem at this location! My husband did unscrew a porch light our absent neighbors probably left on by accident, which restored our wonderful view of God’s star-filled sky! It’s off-the-grid and the solar electric setup is great! We had a TV in the room, but never turned it on. We did appreciate the A/C. Our Gun Shop cabin was comfortable and just steps from the community kitchen, which was stocked with water and breakfast snacks. I cooked our dinner in the kitchen one night, and breakfast one morning, during our stay. Big Bend Park National Park is to the Southeast and Big Bend State Park is to the Southwest. Neither is far from the cabin we occupied. Our dog was welcomed, too, and he enjoyed our walks on the property in the cooler times of the day. There’s a path along the ridge where the little “town” sits. We enjoyed walking it, looking down into the gorge on each side and at the end, and seeing the expansive view of mountains and desert. For our anniversary, we visited the Terlingua Trading Post and ate at the Starlight Theater Restaurant where we enjoyed a tasty steak dinner. I highly recommend staying in these cabins. They are unique and well maintained. My husband was talking about “next time” before we ever left.

Absolutely Do Not Use VRBO!

I booked a house in Perth,Australia on Vrbo for Christmas in 2023, paying for the property back in April 2023 for my wife’s 50th birthday on what was meant to be a trip of a lifetime. By chance i contacted the host in August to check on the bedrooms and beds, as I am travelling with a family of 6, and I found out the property had been de-listed 2 months ago as the owner had sold the property. I have spent over 10 hours on the phone with different Vrbo customer service reps for over a week, to get refund and I was made to feel that I was lucky to get this and Vrbo have been completely unhelpful in supporting me to secure another property and with it being so late in the day and a highly demanded period, I have no chance of booking a house for my family and I to stay in, without paying a hugely inflated cost or staying in a really sub standard place that has no reviews or demand for obvious reasons. Vrbo do not respond to my requests to help with a resolution, have not responded to my complaint that you can only register on line, you can never speak to anyone and there is no process for escalation. This has caused my family huge distress, as we are flying 6 of us from the US to Australia at huge expense with flights and Vrbo have left us high and dry with no facility to help support , apart from recommending I use a different website! Oh and to top it off I lost over $100 on the refund with the exchange rate over time and the fees to convert currencies. Don’t use this company, they do not care about their customers and the customer service team have no power or empathy to fix anything!

Great Location

The condo is on beautiful grounds; there are sidewalks all around the fenced complex to sit by the water or explore. Great pool with view and hot tub. It is very close to the beautiful Fajardo beaches and not far from the Kiosks which are right on a fun beach. Then a little farther is Old San Juan which is worth a visit. Great location to El Yungue National forest. Call restaurants before you go; yelp is not updated. El Cayo is the restaurant right across the waterway from the balcony, but it’s all outside and it was excessive heat when we were there. The brown building straight across from the bay side windows is also great and right on the water, Sabalos Marina Grill. Note that there is a cooler bag in the apartment for groceries or take out. The grocery stores, Walmart, and other, do not have free bags, they’re 10 cents so we took our own plastic bags in. As a matter of fact, we left 2 clean sturdy Walmart bags in the cooler for the next renter. Also, there are styrofoam plates, coffee filters, napkins, paper towels, stuff for dishes and showers. We took a bar of soap and you have to buy your next rolls of toilet paper. Really nice light bright apartment with Amazing views of the mountains and the marina and out to the ocean with islands in the distance from the windows and balcony. The AC units are very cooling- quickly; although you want to turn them both off before going on the balcony. If you open the front door vents and the marina side windows, the cross breeze is nice. Great experience and great apartment / condo complex to come home to.

Unbelievably horrible experience

I rented a cottage on a lake (and I’m am headed there now) This is a vacation for our family which includes 5 children, 5 and under! I started calling 3 weeks ago to get info about what is included so we have a clue what to bring! NO ONE EVER GOT BACK TO ME!!!!! I paid VRBO a fee of almost $700 to handle my rental and they couldn’t even return a phone call, text message or email !!! They also use a 3rd party company called EVOLVE… they r even worse to deal with because they blame VRBO for not getting the proper info to me !!!! My $8,400 vacation rental is turning into a nightmare before we even get there !!!! STAY AWAY, they’re promises r completely false ! Update- We arrive at the rental, find the deck and lake front unkept like no one had knew we coming. The inside seemed OK, the beds were made at least, we wanted to get some drinks and head to the water but found 1 bag of frozen ice cubes, no ice maker or even ice cube trays to make our own! At dinner we brought steaks for our first night went to set the table and there were only 4 dinner plates (this rental slept 14) and only 3 steak knives ! The handle to the main bathroom shower kept falling off! We bought ice good disposable plates shared knives was careful in the shower and had an as good of a vacation as we could. This property was not even close to what was advertised, and when I called when we got home to at least get a refund of my service charge I was hung up on, put on hold until I got a recording saying they were closed or promised a call back once they looked into it but never received one ! STAY AWAY !

Do not use! If I stop one of you I did my job

Host, insurance and VRBO are in it for the dollar. Not you. Made a reservation… no cancellation policy. I understand this completely. But there is such a thing as the right thing. We made reservations last November. However come new year my work shut down got moved. We asked the host if we could have the week after if it’s open we gladly pay an up charge cause of the holiday week. Host (The premier team) said the dates are booked. Go ahead and cancel you have insurance your covered they said. Ok so we did that. About a week later got denied insurance. Great so we called the host to see if we can get dates back. 2 of us would just have to have a short vacation. Never called back or answered. They got their money. My best friend then emailed them to see if the dates were available that we wanted to switch too. 5 mins later email saying yes open go ahead and book them. Straight up lied to us. This is 7 months before the reservation. So you can’t do the right thing 7 months away. 3 plus grand is a lot of money for normal people. To be gone in a single click? It’s devastating. So we tried calling everyone all they say is talk to this or call them. Keep going in circles. The greatest comment was well you can rebook it. It’ll just cost you 3 grand. What’s even bigger kick in Face is that I looked recently and they changed cancellation policy to 60 days. My luck. Then after some more bad reviews they had their property taken off. I’m a 3rd generation war veteran. And I’m sick of getting ripped off. The fact that this is allowed is ridiculous and sad. I got email trails I probably should post on some websites if I knew how.

Beautiful View 💖

Not only was this house beautiful, but the experience altogether was amazing! We have a family tradition of coming to the ocean every year for the past 5+ years and this has definitely been the best one yet! We really appreciated how the hosts honored your privacy and exceedingly helped all your needs! Amazing hosts!!! The fire wood was stocked for the house, the propane tanks were filled, and they provided everything you could possibly need even chairs for the beach and sand toys for the kids. The view was amazing all around, looked like you were staring at a moving painting all day and the beach was so easy to get to. This year we celebrated our parents 40th anniversary and this house couldn’t have been more perfect! It fit everyone so well and had plenty of space, it was roomy yet cozy and I just can’t get over the view and the amazing hosts! In the past we’ve been to houses that were dirty, or the hosts kept calling every 5 minutes for something as small as leaving a pair of shoes on the outside rug or even catching them walking past the house everyday just to make sure we weren’t throwing parties which made us feel extremely uncomfortable! Our family ranges from our parents (in their 60s) and kids as young as 1 year old all we want to do is to be able to reunite and spend quality time by a campfire while watching an amazing view so the constant stares is definitely a big no from us. This house was very clean, stocked, well organized, and had plenty of toys for the kids. We LOVED that the hosts were just so amazing and nice and just overall the best hosts we have ever had! Would recommend this house to everyone! The experience was really great and the views were beyond words. Thank you for everything!!!

Snowmass Vacations Woodbridge 12A

I first booked a condo that seemed to be perfect for my family which became unavailable at the last minute and VRBO was able to accommodate my family of 5 at Woodbridge 12 A. The pictures online made the location seem outdated but it really was not. It worked great for my my family. The master bedroom was comfortable and the spare bedroom had plenty of space to accommodate my kids as well as the pull out couch. The kitchen is well stocked we were able to cook daily and had all utensils needed (I would suggest a cover for the grill when it is not in use). The condo was right by the pool, hot tub, and laundry which also was convenient as it was easy to use the machines with the swipe of your credit card. The area was very quiet and we were able to leave our windows open with fans in them to keep cool at night. In our unit there were 4 condos (one above us and the same set up next to us). We walked the trails every morning and the town center is within a 6 min walk where they have a store, post office and two restaurants. With a short drive of 40 minutes we were able to enjoy the Adventure Caves in Glenwood Springs and the Grottos trail in Aspen. Location was great. A few things that were just barely a nuisance was the bathroom has two doors and the entrance door would shut and lock but was able to just be pushed open so it doesn’t really lock (I have all boys so this was not too much of an issue). The baking pans were located in the warming draw (which is broken) on the stove and that took me awhile to find. It would also be helpful if the description of the condo included the fact that there is no AC just portable fans. We were lucky the weather was perfect but with the thick blankets I did get hot a few nights.

Cool Features

So I am writing my review on the app and my experience while staying at our Vrbo cabin! Our family decided to stay a couple nights in a charming cabin just outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee. We booked through the app and it seemed really easy to make all the arrangements. The owner of the property was quick to respond via email about some questions my husband had and send the information we needed to unlock the door to get in! I would say it’s pretty cool that you can make these kind of reservations through an app on your phone! So neat! We get to our cabin, park, get our two little kids out of the car and head inside our cabin! Get inside and find that the place hadn’t been cleaned from the last guests who had stayed there......We were in awhhh....So we tried to reach out to the property owner ASAP and let her know that the place was not ready for new guests! We waited a short time and still no reply. So we decided to contact Vrbo instead. They were very nice about it. They reached out to the property owner who then contacted us shortly after. Long story short, the property owner refunded our two night stay. We still had to pay taxes on that and was charged a cleaning deposit still of $100. Anyways. Vrbo doesn’t take financial responsibility for refunds etc. Its not their fault at all this happened. Anyways.

My husband and I booked a condo for a family vacation and Vrbo emailed us our confirmation number and information for the booking, and our card was charged for the condo. We arrived at our destination and hadn’t heard from the property about check-in. Vrbo pushed us off to the property manager (who was extremely rude), who then pushed us off to another Vacasa rental person who informed us that there was no booking for us and they had already filled the condo vacancies for the weekend. He stated that the confirmation number from Vrbo was not a valid number in their system and there was no record of our booking. Then he pushed us back to Vrbo for answers. During this time, we were waiting in 95 degree weather with nowhere to check into because of Vrbo’s mistake. We then waited on hold for at least 30 minutes, and finally, a Vrbo representative answered our call. This individual didn’t seem concerned at all about the inconvenience due to the mistake on Vrbo’s part and just wanted to issue a refund and end the call. This experience was terrible and we will never book with Vrbo again. Be wary if you use this company for booking, they do not care about the customers who book through them.

Vrbo will scam you

If I could rate them zero I would. They literally stole >$6K from us. We booked a property on the platform in Mexico for a family vacation. Got confirmation from Vrbo of instant booking. Only a few days from the trip still zero communication from the property owner with confirmation of how to access the property. Vrbo says their policy is owners must respond within 24 hrs or be kicked off the platform. It’s been 7 days and no contact. So I guess good for Vrbo that they can kick off a bad owner. But we have talked to Vrbo customer Svc for hours a day for multiple days and they just say pound sand, zero refund offered for us even though we paid for something that they can’t deliver on. They also charged a $500 service fee to use the platform and “protect us”. They laughed at us when we asked if they were at least going to refund that since they didn’t actually do anything for us or provide any actual service. They told us our only option was to actually go to Mexico and they would accommodate us if we got there and had no place to stay. Yeah right! Who in their right mind would travel to a foreign country with young kids with no confirmation that they had a place to actually stay?!?!? Total highway robbery!

Cranberry Cabin

The picture on the VRBO app doesn’t compare when you drive up to the cabin and see it in person! Out host Captain Tony and wife Nancy welcomed us made s feel more like great friends than guests! Upon walking into the private entrance I was in awe of how beautifully decorated it was with the rustic cabin decor! The bathroom was breathtaking with the amount of detail in making the entire cabin look just where it belongs,in the mountains! Plenty of room in the living area to watch tv and the bed was very comfortable EVERYTHING was PERFECT! Do not have concern that they live upstairs never heard anything, very quite and private! We enjoyed their company,we cooked banana boats for ourselves and them they were such joy to spend time out on the porch and talk! Perfect Hosts! Enjoyed their 2 mini schnauzers Sophie and Marlin, they were fun to watch! We were greeted each morning by chipmunks a ground hog and a baby rabbit along with birds and the sunrise and sunsets are beautiful! This is my ideal vacation spot quite and tranquil not only to relax but reflect on the beauty! Tony and Nancy we will be back before you all retire! Heaven in Puerto Vallarta

We have stayed at this condo in the beautiful Sayan Beach building for the last 3 summers. We keep coming back for many reasons. The first being the owner, John, and his manager Mercedes are amazing to work with. They have arranged transport to and from the airport for a reasonable fee and are readily available to answer questions and assist as needed. Second the location is absolutely beautiful! There are two gorgeous pools, one below overlooking the ocean and the rooftop pool which has the most beautiful view of Banderas Bay. The staff at Sayan beach are very friendly and helpful. They can arrange any adventures you want for a reasonable price. There is also 2 restaurants that serve delicious food and drinks again for a very reasonable price. We find ourselves staying on the property more and more to enjoy the pools, views, and great food/drink service. Thirdly the condo is beautiful, spacious, and has all the amenities you would need. Lastly the location is a 5 minute inexpensive Uber ride to the romantic zone which has an amazing array of restaurants and shopping. Don’t miss out on booking this place, you will not regret it!! We can’t wait until we can return again! Thank you John and team!!

I rented a place in Dallas because we had a track meet and I reserved it on a Tuesday for Friday and Saturday. Everything went well until the day we went to Texas. I received a email saying that the place I rented was already booked and the owner said he was out of the country so he didn’t know it was booked. It’s been a month now and I’ve tried everything I can to get a refund and I’ve still haven’t received it what so ever. I don’t know how you can take $900 from someone and not give it back. I talked to the host and he said he’ll give me a free night for the inconvenience but then he text right back hours later saying it was rented for another two days. So I was in Texas with nowhere to stay. Vrbo it’s to hard to contact you guys about a problem but it’s easy to get your money took. I don’t like being lied too and rob for money. And shouldn’t take over a month to get your refund back when the place wasn’t available in the first place. So I had to pay more money getting a hotel where we don’t like to stay bc of Covid. I hope you guys can get this fixed. And when they do I’ll leave another review letting everyone know how it went.

A perfect place to stay for a Sierra Vista adventure!

The Prickly Pear Casita was very easy to find with quick access to everything Sierra Vista has to offer, yet situated in a safe, quiet, upscale neighborhood. They thoughtfully provided off-street, dedicated parking for their Casita guests. The Casita was newly remodeled, very clean, and spacious, and Caitlin and Jeff were very friendly, responsive and accommodating hosts. Knowing that we were coffee snobs, they even supplied a coffee grinder for us so we could enjoy freshly ground coffee in the mornings. The Casita was well appointed with all the amenities you would ever need to feel relaxed and comfortable, including a well-stocked kitchen; for example, they even provided a Brita water filter in the fridge so we didn’t have to buy bottled water to stay hydrated. The covered back porch was ideal for early morning birding that was enhanced by native and wildlife-friendly landscaping. The outdoor fire pit, surrounded by a string of lights, was a nice touch for peaceful, romantic evenings under starry skies. We plan to return to Sierra Vista again for the incredible birding opportunities and look forward to another relaxing and accommodating stay at this lovely Casita in the future.

Retired NP and Aerospace Engineer chilling at the Cabin on the Mountain…MUST GO SEE AND STAY!

The drive to this cabin is incredible! The pictures do NOT give it justice. This home is gorgeous, comfortable, and welcoming…very spacious, fully loaded open kitchen/dining/living room w/several viewing windows, very heavy sliding glass door to backyard patio, 3 bedrooms with all viewing windows, 2 full baths (1 with shower and 1 with shower/bathtub). They had blow dryers in both bathrooms. You may need to buy extra toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, salt for cooking, and any other seasonings if ya cooking in home). Stacked front loader washer/dryer…make sure to bring ya detergent/softener, if washing clothes. Plenty of bath/hand towels, wash cloths, makeup wash cloths. Oh, lots of different games to enjoy in cabinet near patio glass sliding door. Breathtaking views, beautiful wild animals (deer, birds, raccoons, rabbits, Elk, squirrels, wild horses), casino, lakes. Little area for dogs to go out but not fenced in totally. There is a small/medium outside lockable cage if ya need to place ya dog in it for a little while and ya don’t want him/her to runaway. Large backyard patio w/spa (didn’t use spa though), beach towels available, and BBQ grill. Nice front porch to enjoy the mountains and wildlife. The wildlife will come straight to the backyard but please don’t feed them. Someone must have fed the deer before, since; they came every morning like clockwork. They are not scared either. Be careful! There is a lookout point about 45 mins away called Monjeau Lookout… must see… INCREDIBLE! Another cool thing to go to is the White Sands National Park. I hope y’all will enjoy this cabin like we did!

Great Experience

We enjoyed our stay at this place with Korin as the host. I’m huge on customer service. Korin addressed ALL of our concerns and issues immediately. While there were a couple of issues, she had them resolved or a plan to have them resolved in a short period of time. AND, for our inconveniences, she VOLUNTARILY offered monetary compensation, which is rare these days (Don’t go in expecting compensation….that’s not realistic if you have an issue). The house seems recently renovated and super clean. It’s also spacious and well equipped. My oldest son and I made use of beer pong with the 10ft granite countertop. lol. The pool was straight dope. It was a great feature to our stay. The parking was nice and easy where you can drive all the way up to the front door. This made it easy for packing and unpacking the vehicles. The location to the beach was in walking distance, maybe two blocks. We didn’t walk cause I hate carrying stuff, so we drove and parking at the public beach near this house was easy to park. Ok, by now, you can tell we loved the experience and area. We’ll definitely be staying here again for family vacations. Great Job Korin.

Quick Trip to the Beach

Very nice place to stay. Only downside was the mattress was outdated and needed to be replaced. We slept good though. The toilet paper roll holder was broke and the cleaning staff just put it back on the holder like it was ok so when I tried to take the paper off to use it, it fell off onto the floor. There was one porch chair that was broke and needs to be replaced. But it was just my husband and me so we didn’t need it. Other than simple fixes that come with routine upkeep, it was a great quick vacation. All kitchen appliances worked and plenty of utensils to cook with. We always try and cook meals in instead of going out to eat. Great weather and easy access to pools and beach. Some people had trouble with one elevator getting stuck between floors a couple of times but we never had a problem. Security was always walking and checking things. People were using the outside grills every night, but never had a problem with loud music or unruly people. Very nice for families with children or just adult get away!! Easy access to restaurants, Walmart, dollar general, or places to buy seafood to cook at the condo! The 5&10 store by Walmart is a great place to get stuff you may have forgot!

Absolutely Perfect

The condo is exactly like it is in the photos. We were greeted with a wonderful welcome basket filled with local goodies ie: Leia, Cookies, chocolates, coffee ect. The owners were meticulous in providing anything extra we could possibly need. We are from the island and travel back often to visit our children and grandchildren. This was the perfect location to spend quality time together. We particularly enjoyed the daily Koi feedings, the pools, hot tubs and barbecue areas along with the safety and protection of the lagoon. There were plenty of towels, beach towels, beach chairs and even a beach wagon and umbrellas that were very much appreciated. We made use of some of the kitchen extras like hand mixer and muffin tin to cook our own meals. The cross breeze and lanais on both sides really was quite luxurious. The owners were exceptionally quick to respond to all communication and the condo staff went above and beyond in helping us to check in and showing us around. There are plenty of dining options around Ko Olina and any groceries were super convenient and in very close proximity. Easy on and off of the highway too. This condo exceeded our expectations.

Beautiful condo right on the beach

This condo in Ormond Beach, Florida was fabulous. Three large bedrooms each with its own bathroom. The kitchen is very large and up-to-date with a beautiful countertops, cabinets, and with anything you could possibly want to enjoy your meals. There’s a balcony outside the main living room and also outside the largest bedroom. Condo was sparkling clean, as well. The host was very kind and easy to communicate with. She provided great information before our trip and met us at the condo when we arrived. Check in and check out processes were very, very easy and quick. And the location is perfect for those who want to enjoy the ocean and the beaches. It’s a very short walk across the boardwalk to the beach. The host has stocked all sorts of outdoor equipment. There were umbrellas, chairs, beach, games, beach towels, etc. The beach is absolutely beautiful and so was the ocean. There were fairly large waves. We were there in July 2024 and the beach is not that crowded. There was a lot of room to spread out and be far away from other people on the beach. We hope to be back in the next year. I cannot recommend this condo enough!

Be careful.

Even though the VRBO app may show that a place has availability on the calendar, and you book it an put down payment , down, does not mean you have it! I did this only to be told the next day that someone else had booked on another App, for a longer period so my short stay trip was not accepted any more by the owner, after it had been confirmed on the VRBO app. So on cancelling one day later my refund was reduced by $81.00 for something that was not my fault. Felt like ripped off! Terrible way to do business.

I had a hard time finding it-narrow gravel road on a hill, high wood fence. At first I wondered what I had got myself in to, but it turned out to be lovely and peaceful, close to Ganges, super clean, fresh flowers, surrounded by nature, and soft thoughtful touches throughout. I’ve liked the app until…

I’ve liked the app until hosts started using Travelnest on their behalf. I haven’t directly spoken with the host yet, but I have gone back and forth with Travelnest far too many times on their behalf. The payment wasn’t working, the booking wasn’t working, Travelnest’s system wasn’t working. I initially spent 2 hours the first day going back and forth; I spoke with Vrbo customer support, Travelnest customer support AND my banking all to pay for one night. Live chat wasn’t working, the system when I called wasn’t either. It wouldn’t recognize my reservation ID because it was pending forever. Then it did recognize, then it didn’t again. I had to call the customer support number that I found on Google, hit the 1st option under “Host” because the info I had wasn’t getting me past it. They didn’t recognize my card, my reservation, etc. —Then my party wanted to add a 2nd night - which should’ve been easier. I did a survey yesterday, where the agent’s help made up for all the negatives - helping me feel better about it. Today, I had emails and calls left & right again. To the point where I went over my international call limit - because Travelnest is based in London & even the payment was different. Adding a 2nd night lead to Travelnest calling me, me calling them, them sending a 2nd payment link that only said booking details and that I paid in full when I didn’t yet. I’ve been more than happy to do everything that was needed but far too many agents were not in the loop. Which lead to my frustrations on having to explain everything over again.

Tybee Island Rental, Southern Belle Property Management

This property that we and another couple rented was NOT a good place to rent for a week. DO NOT rent this condo until they have replaced the horribly broken down beds and the older than the hills broken down couch. Honestly, the property management company was not the problem, the second day they offered to move us to a different location two blocks away but none of us could stand the thought of packing up everything we had again and hauling it down from the third floor. We brought our motorcycles to ride so that would’ve meant going to where we had to pay to park the truck and trailer and hooking all that back up, loading the bikes back up and unloading yet again. Which leads me to my next point, the parking is only big enough for two smaller vehicles so if you’ve got a truck, you’ll have to pay to park it somewhere away from the condo. The air conditioner froze up and quit working as well but again, the property management company sent someone out later that day to fix it and even brought fans to try to help while parts were ordered for the unit. That being said, the property management company was not the problem, they said they would let the owners know about the problems and who knows if they will fix the issues but I can assure you, you will not sleep well until they replace the old decrepit furniture. Get it in writing that they have made the necessary updates/changes before you spend your money or be prepared to be miserable at night!

Technical Glitch Nightmare

Due to an error on my part, which was a typo on the email address when making a reservation, the reservation didn’t show up in my trips. I called Vrbo and they were able to forward the confirmation email to my correct email. But they could not change the email on the reservation as their system was having technical difficulties and they could not add it to my account cause it is an Apple account. I called again a few days later, still they are having technical difficulties and cannot change address on reservation. I am not comfortable with a stranger having access to my reservation so I asked to cancel the reservation and rebook with correct email. I cannot cancel through the site because the reservation is not part of my account. Customer service tried and said they could not cancel because the account connected to the wrong email is not setup. My recourse is to connect directly with Vrbo host and see if they can and would change the email on their end so I could get updates and any other communication or I can dispute the charge through my credit card. Customer service left a message for the host, but haven’t heard anything yet. I will try to call on Monday to see if that will work out, though not a fan of the idea. if that doesn’t work out I’ll have to call the bank. On a good note the 2 customer service reps were pleasant, understanding and tried to help, though they didn’t have the tools to resolve the issue.

Fees are RIDICULOUS, don’t bother.

Downloaded this in hopes it wasn’t as money hungry as AirBnB. It is somehow worse. Didn’t think it was possible. My total went from $495 to $1200 all from “fees.” I know fees are necessary to keep the app running, but come on people. There is no way on God’s green earth I will ever pay for something that is more than doubled from fees like “$125 - management fee” 🤡. Edit: After receiving a response from the developers, I’d like to expand just a bit. First off, I respect that you take the time to thoughtfully respond to reviews. I think it is a great idea to incorporate more transparency in your fees. It’s rather jarring seeing your total more than double, but if I knew why it doubled, I might be able to bring myself to buying it. What exactly is a “management fee” and how does that differ from the rest of the *expansive* list of fees? I don’t remember the rest of the fees but adding some type of information as to why those fees exist and what they are would at least be a good step in the right direction. Another thing, if price is solely dictated by the hosts then they need to be regulated. A $125 “management fee” is 25% of a $495 total price. That fee alone has added an additional quarter of what I’m already paying. That is ridiculous. So, hosts either need to be constrained within more reasonable percentages or outright denied from charging outlandish fees like this one —outlandish in my opinion, that is.

Cancelled with no help

This is the first review I’ve ever written for an app or platform because I the terrible service. I had booking a trip in May and messaged the host to tell them about why we were staying at the property. There was no response which was fine at first. A month before the trip I messaged again to check in. No response. Two weeks before, no response. A week, nothing. Finally, I call VRBO to ask them to help contact them. They say to wait until the next day. The next day I call back to tell them I didn’t hear anything. They said wait another 48 hours. This is 4 days before we were supposed to arrive at the property. That day the host cancels the reservation only stating that someone got covid in the last party. This was suspicious because 1) they didn’t respond to any previous messages and 2) they definitely had ample time to d’antiride the property. VRBO stated in our one of many calls that they would help find a new place and cover the costs of the difference. The call dropped which was fine at first, but each time I started to talk to traveler care they dropped the call several more times and clearly on purpose. The last person I talked to said that they couldn’t do anything and wouldn’t cover the difference of a new property. The cherry on top was that the property was posted again the day after stating that it was available for those dates. Overall, won’t be using vrbo ever again and will be telling everyone I know to steer clear. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.

VRBO will steal your money with no resolution

Our family has been a great customer for years renting several properties from VRBO. We usually write great reviews but not this time! And owners/property managers always say how great it was to host our family but buyers beware on this home located in Reno NV! We initially booked this gorgeous home in early 2024 to have a home base for our daughters wedding a mile from the venue. About 20 days prior to our stay and just days outside of the cancellation window, the Davis fire started and a week later there was zero containment. I reached out to the property manager through the APP and was told they don’t manage anymore as the home sold and to contact the new owners which I did. They immediately explained the property was still in evacuation order and cleaners couldn’t even get through to clean. They agreed to cancellation but we’d have to go through VRBO as they had our money. 2 weeks before the wedding and still no containment on the fire we secured a new venue. Typically a week before the booked stay the property manager or owners send instructions to gain access to the property. This never occurred. I confirmed after the stay that never occurred that the owners did not receive our money. I tried to ask the property manager who never replied. I’m unsure who has the money we paid. We called VRBO several times leading up to the stay and after the stay to find resolution with NO results. We have no choice but to take legal action.

NIGHTMARE!!!

This company was an absolute nightmare. I booked a vacation and paid in full five months ago. Today I went to share the property link with a friend only it’s no where to be found. VRBO assured me that it was still booked and it had to be honored. Out of an abundance of caution I messaged the host and thank God I did. Their response is the property was sold, the rental was canceled, and VRBO should have contacted me. Not only did NO ONE contact me, I never got a refund of the money I paid, and the trip still showed “booked” on the app. Had I not done the leg work to really find out what was going on, id have shown up there next month with no where to stay!!!! No one seemed to think this was an issue. Everyone is pointing fingers and placing blame on the other parties and NO ONE was even slightly helpful. I had to call twice to get my refund processed which should have happened IMMEDIATELY upon sale of the property if they weren’t going to honor it! That was two months ago by the way that this sale took place. That would’ve given me three months to find a new place. But no here I am one month out looking for a place on a holiday weekend and begging for my money back. Absolute NIGHTMARE. Avoid this site at all costs! You can actually book it cheaper by booking it direct almost all the time just google search the address and find the property management company or social media pages! Pics very accurate, however details disappointing

We are very seasoned travelers & VRBO users. Thus, this is a fair review. Our group of 6 adults (ages 50 to 60) stayed 2 nights at this well described 3 story home. Nice off street parking in front of home & neighborhood felt safe. First thing we found was a dirty/used pan in the oven. Sent message to owner. No response. Our group sat down to play cards…. 2 of the six chairs around kitchen table were unusable as the frame/legs were wobbly. Sent message to owner, no response. Next morning, decided to jump in the shower…. Read your instructions carefully as the towels are in the 2nd guest room’s closet! (Towels not set out in each individual bath) SOOO… had to wake our friends to retrieve our towels… or rags?? They were soooo thin, a few stains, 2 towels were ripped, one with a full corner gone. Not enough full size towels for 6 adults, so I used 3 small ones. Messaged owner, no response. 2nd bedroom has a nice ceiling fan, which our friends wanted to use at night, however could not as the remote had no batteries & we looked for batteries, no luck. The chairs & towels were our main disappointment. The kitchen was nicely stocked if you were to do any cooking, we did not. Very unusual for an owner to not respond. Had we had some communication, this review would of been a 4. Unfortunately its a 3…. Have never given a 3.

Awful customer service

Let me start by stating that this was an overall AWFUL experience. I want to say that the owner did work with me to cancel my reservation and was courteous. Neighborhood is not a good neighborhood. Home looks better in pics. Did not feel safe there. VRBO was absolutely horrendous in NOT HELPING ME. I told them that I literally did not feel safe and they were essentially like that is not our problem. It was only because the owner was willing to refund as much $ as he could that we were not left completely high and dry. I spoke with 4 different reps (not hyperbole) on about 6 different calls. Was put in wait many times, calls very conveniently “dropped” and even though they get your # to return your call, THEY DONT RETURN YOUR CALL. One rep even made a note, in the system, that he called me back but it went to voicemail and that was a lie. A blatant lie. I emailed asking for a call back and asked to have a manager call me back and that never happened either. This was the absolute worst customer service experience that I have ever had, by a mile, and I’ve had some doozies. 0 stars, will never ever ever book w VRBO again and will try to spread the word as much as possible to people to not use this company. Let me guess this review will go straight into the delete file and will never be seen by another human? Update. We already talked with them on the day this all happened and it resulted in the poor customer service experience. So I will not go through that again. Do not use this company.

Vrbo is here for the host, not the renter

After staying at the most dirty home ever in Louisville I contacted the host directly within 30min of arrival. I was told it would all be taken care of. Nothing was done but we had to stay the night as there was a big event in town and even all the hotels were booked. The next morning I contacted the host letting them know that we would not be staying the second night because of how dirty the home was. They agreed to do a refund over the phone. After realizing this was not gonna happen and they were just leading us on I contacted VRBO. After multiple calls to VRBO directly and over a month after the stay VRBO’s only comment is that they are waiting for the host to resolve the issue that they cannot do anything. Again, this is after submitting roughly 10 pictures of the property that included large amounts of mold, unchanged bedding with lots of dog hair and food crumbs in all the beds and couch as well as dead and a live bugs. There was also one lonely fire alarm in the entire property that was beeping constantly. After letting the host know it needed a battery change their response was to throw it outside in the trashcan. Multiple VRBO representatives agreed this was unacceptable and that this problem would be resolved. Yet here we are two months after the day and all they continue to tell me is that they are wising for the host to solve the issue. What I have found is that VRBO is only here for the property lease and not for the client renting the property.

Scammed out of 600$

Verbo claims to have a refund or rebooking opportunity if you were scammed but this is not happen in my case. I booked a rental at Panama City Beach in Florida, we were unable to get into our Verbo without paying a $600 fee that popped up right before we got there, we finally got there and they let us in after paying the $600 additional fee on top of the cleaning fee and everything else that was paid for weeks in advance. We would have booked somewhere else and canceled it completely except there was absolutely zero hotels are Virgos available because it was spring break in Panama City Beach so we had no other option but to pay the $600 deposit. After the trip we did not receive our $600 deposit back. I had a claim number and multiple different conversations and emails with Verbo representatives and every single one of them told me that I had to get the money back from the remote property owner that did not even meet with us one time on the trip. The property owner blocked us and Verbo customer service said too bad so sad you have to get the money back from him even though they have a moneyback guarantee, they also did not give us another trip to refund this deposit. We are college students and at $600 were all the savings that we had and we’re completely scammed out of it. Every single time I see a Verbo and I am infuriated especially because of this new marketing campaign they have to make themselves look good. The money back guarantee and refund for your trip is completely false do not book a Verbo ever!!!!

I was “double booked” for a weekend stay. 3 weeks later i still haven't received my money back and all i can get from customer service is that someone is “working on it” i spoke with the host who then told me this wasn’t even her listing. She didn’t get paid for my booking and that i was scammed. VRBO has acted like they do not care and they do not want to give my money back. There is actually something on the website that states “"Wrongful Denial of Entry." means that a Protected Traveler has made a deposit (if required) and/or full payment (if required) to an Advertiser for a rental property that is listed on a HomeAway Site but (i) the Protected Traveler is wrongfully denied access to the subject property at the start of or during the rental term as the result of the intentional and/or wrongful act of the advertiser, and ii) the Protected Traveler's deposit and/or payment (or appropriate portion thereof) is not refunded and is wrongfully withheld by the Advertiser. An example of this Protected Incident includes where the Advertiser "double books" the subject property to two or more travelers for the same time period(s).” And then goes to say you can get your money back. Do not trust that because it’s been almost 3 weeks and nothing. They even offered to find us somewhere else to stay but then told us it was “out of budget” so that we would have to pay our own way to find somewhere. Trip fully ruined. NEVER USE VRBO!

Better Filtering

I would like to have more options on the filter. And rather than searching 1+ beds or baths, it’d be nice to search a range or for a specific number only...like I need a 1 or 2 bedroom condo, depending on the number of beds, but I certainly don’t need any of these 4+ bedroom condos that are on my search results. I’d like to weed more out. Also, I’ve made favorites ‘folders’ in the past, so I could organize according to vacation. Like I have a ‘Destin’ folder. Or ‘group vaca 2019’. But now when I go to save something for a different trip, it’ll only let me choose a folder I’ve created in the past. There is no way to create a new favorites list and no way to delete or rename the lists I have. Also, would be nice to delete messages that I no longer need. It’s a pain trying to weed back through the properties I’ve inquired on and not getting them mixed up. There are a few that haven’t worked out but I have to reread through each message to find what im looking for. So those are my suggestions. Also, in the 6 years that I’ve been using vrbo (site and app) there has never been any rhyme or reason to the ‘average nightly rate’ posted on each unit. Better off getting an estimate or contacting the company to get an accurate rate. Like a unit could claim to be an average rate of $130 and come out at $2800 for the 6 nights we’re staying, but a comparable unit might say average rate $220 and total for same number of nights might be $1400. It’s misleading. Average nightly rate is just not a reliable search option on the site or app, so I don’t use it. So those are my suggestions Thanks

Will not use again! Turned out in middle of night with no where to go.

I will never use VRBO again. I rented a place from Laura for a week. There was a medical COVID emergency the day I was to check in. I spoke with Laura and while I had missed the cancellation time and was due to loose all of my money. Laura informed me that if she could rebook she would give me a refund. She had done that before. I was in St. Petersburg FL already and the place was already paid for. I was unable to get home that night. Laura said I could just go into VRBO and cancel what was left of my booking. So after I checked in and arrived, I followed her directions. It had been a long hard day and knowing I needed to get home for the family emergency, it was 9pm. There was a knock on my door. Laura informed me that I had cancelled my booking so I had to leave right then. I was not able to stay over night because I cancelled. Keep in mind there was no option to pick a day to cancel. You just hit cancel. She kicked me out at 9pm me with no place to go all because VRBO told her she was no longer insured because I cancelled like she told me to. No offer to work anything out for the night like VRBOs email states would happen just that I had to leave. I will never use this site again. Not only did I not get to stay the night I had CLEARLY paid for in advance in April she rebooked my entire stay and never gave the refund she offered. Worst stay ever

First off my stay at the air bnb was canceled last min to which I panicked only have 15 hrs before arriving to book a place or not have anywhere to stay so I find another air bnb and book it called Expedia who transfer me to vrbo who tells me I never should’ve booked it they would’ve covered it being this is my first time using nobody told me this not even the previous landlord nor did any of the canceled information say to reach out for help! Then I get to my new air bnb every night the doorbell was ringing excessively every hr after midnight until 6-7 am I have video proof of this as well the landlord attempted to fix it by calling ring but that didn’t work second night it’s going off again so he says maintenance who takes out the battery but it continues to still go off over and over scaring my family fearing someone is messing with us or trying to break in! Third night there after the battery was removed it still continued to ring not during the day this is only happening at night or early morning while everyone is trying to sleep we were lucky if we got 2 hrs of sleep all 3 nights there I expressed our discomfort and being scared I sent video footage to the landlord not once were we compensated in anyway shape or form for all of the trouble see went through didn’t get to enjoy any bit of our stay only during the day when we were out of the house! The house was beautiful great area landlord seemed nice however something definitely wasn’t right either the wiring or someone was messing with us I don’t know but I will never book through this app ever again!!

Cleaning needs to be done before renters arrive. Deck table and chairs beer can with cigarette butts. front walk, never swept grass overgrown. Inside stove absolutely disgusting drawer understove absolutely disgusting. Bottom and inside of some pans deplorable kitchen supplies inadequate no sponge no cleaning dishwashing liquid there is no dishwasher so you have to do it yourself but you need supplies no potholders, 1 dirty kitchentowel, no dish rags just two face cloth and no face cloth for anyone else to use two hand towels and a mix Match of large towels. Someones soap left in the front bathroom shower. Nobody’s gonna use anybody else soap that’s been left behind. In the bathroom and the kitchen hand soap watered down extensively. Bathroom floor needs a good cleaning and borders around the floor. toilets extremely small sort of like you were in a moving mobile home. Pillows some could use replacement. Master bedrooms, bed very hard. Living room furniture again made for short people. One of the backs of the kitchen chairs is loose needs to be glued. tablecloth in the kitchen under the plastic needs to be washed, arrived and their stains on it yuck. Trust me when I say I left the house cleaner than I received the house. There is no washer and dryer. Good things the kitchen water tank to get freshwater. That was a great blankets were good. Good size rooms. Plenty of hot water. Overpriced for the condition we found it in.

I was reading some of the reviews on here and I am shocked that there are so many positive things being said about Vrbo’s customer service. Unfortunately that was not my experience at all. I have never experienced such an awful customer service or I should say lack of. My family and I had an awful experience with our Vrbo rental, after many back and forth the owner gave us 2 Nights free( we stayed for only 2 night) however the balance was towards the cleaning and admin fee , $250 total. The main issues from this rental was that the house was not cleaned at all , they came the next day but during that time we had to leave the house and keep in mind we found d a dead mouse in the drawer. I escalated the issue with Vrbo , the process of even getting a claim is brutal , they finally sent me an email where I would provide all issues relating to the rental I have a full description with pictures , timeline etc. Once that was submitted I followed up for 3 weeks and every single time I followed up I was being told it was being worked on and escalated. Lies! I finally got on the phone and was told nothing was done on the case and nothing could be done , no supervisor to speak to no one to escalate it too, just “sorry no we cannot do anything.” Absurd. No apologies for the lies , no accountability. They really do not care. I will be deleting Vrbo and using Airbnb 100% for now on.

The absolute worst company

Booked a house far away from my home 2 months in advance. Paid in full. On the day of, I contacted the host to get instructions, and he told me he is not honoring the booking. He said something about not knowing I was coming until I contacted him, but he DID take my money back when I booked. The customer service at VRBO was laughable. The usual runaround (over 2 hours waiting/speaking with them). Here’s what I learned: a host can not honor a booking for any reason, whenever they like. If they cancel on you the day of, you can’t book another VRBO place because there has to be 24 hour notice to book. On rep told me the problem was test I had booked for only one night (huh?). The next two said they had nothing to do with it. The customer service reps all told me (again and again), there is nothing VRBO can do about it, including trying to help you find another place. Which was a repeated lie- once I got to a “Supervisor” (after being hung up on) he said it is policy to try and find a hotel room in these situations. Nice consistency of message. Of course, the nearest hotel that was available 2 1/2 hours away. I’ve been a customer for a number of years and this is the way I was treated. Not one person expressed any real regret for this screw-up, no one took responsibility, and eventually I was told straight out- your on our own finding your own place, nothing we can do about it.

Wish I could give ZERO stars

TRAVELERS BEWARE I’m giving this a 1 star only because I can’t give zero. The house I rented in Macon Georgia was absolutely nothing like it was advertised. The furniture was burned with cigarettes and broken- the furniture in the kitchen was broken to the point that it was dangerous. There was a huge hole in the deck walking up to the door that almost cost me an ankle fracture. I called the owner and she refused to refund my deposit so I began my nightmare attempt to contact customer service at VRBO. Not only did my “please hold for 15 minutes” turn into an hour and twelve minute hold waiting to talk with a customer service agent who not only had no interest in resolving my issue, when I asked for a supervisor, I was told that she would have one return my call within 4 hours because they were all too busy. That was 9 hours ago. When you call the wait times are so long that you’re in outraged to quit. The online chat help is no help either. They keep you online for an extended amount of time only to tell you to call the customer service line. I have now been at this for 8 hours non-stop just trying to get someone to help. I would be a fool to use this service or it’s glitchy app ever again. TRAVELER BEWARE!! There is absolutely no protection from the owners misrepresentation of their property nor VRBO’s complete lack of concern for the people using their service.

Do not use VRBO

I cannot emphasize this enough. Their customer service is absolutely terrible and do less then the bare minimal to help you with issues that arrive with your host. I booked a one week trip to Tampa Florida for a festival and some other events and the place that I was staying at had roaches, terrible to not wi-fi and while my girlfriend was showers sewage started coming up out of the drain and then the toilet. I tried contacting the host busy there was no phone number listed anywhere. All I could do was use the initial payment email and vrbo chat service. The host was unresponsive to both me and the representatives that I spoke with at VRBO. my girlfriend and I could not shower or use the bathroom in our VRBO for two and a half days. I broke out in hives from the stress and girlfriend had her own skin problems. I called in over 25 times to try to get some type of help or just to get us moved. It wasn’t until halfway through our trip and after 25+ calls totaling over 10+ hours, multiple ignored attempted call drops with no call backs and unhelpful people that VRBO paid for a 1 NIGHT stay at a cheap hotel 15 minutes away from the place that we booked specifically for its location. I then had to fight for them to pay for two more days. I ended up having to pay for one out of pocket. 2 weeks after the trip I am still fighting for a refund. I cannot say this enough their confidence guarantee is an absolute scam. We were literally sleeping in filth without being able to clean ourselves and VRBO only cared about the host and retaining their money.

Deceived by Property owner and Vrbo

We planned a girls trip to Dallas and we were so excited to get here. We booked what we thought was a beautiful location. I reviewed this property several times because the pics were so nice. We arrived Friday to a house that was nothing like we saw. We entered the home to see a BIG tacky board sticking from under the carpet. It’s covering a hole in the floor. There were air conditioning units in the window which was not a issue but it was hanging out the window and anyone could just come up and do anything. Take in mind again all ladies not safe at all. The house is beyond outdated for what we paid. Back yard looks like a construction site and we were planning to hang out side but not at that place. We had to go book a hotel in the downtown area so pricey yes. We proceeded to reach out to the host/property owner name Jerri and she proceeded to hang up in my face. We called VRBO and all we get is back and forth between the 2 and everyone wants to email. I will be contacting a lawyer about m refund since neither can seem to do anything about this mishap. I even sent a video of the place and the VRBO employee was agreeing the place looks nothing like the pics posted. VRBO allows these people to post deceiving pics so these places can be booked and upon arrival the customer is scammed. Bad business and trust me I will be going up the chain and this was my first and last time using VRBO!

Interrupted Stay

We had a terrible experience dealing with Itrip vacations, where they violated our privacy and were insensitive to it. Someone barged in my unit while my husband and I were having an intimate moment. This is really uncomfortable to write but for the purpose of expressing the severity or the situation I must explain. We were undressed and buyers who had codes to our locked door walked in, without knocking or prior warning. This was the most embarrassing and traumatising moment we have experienced. This was extremely unprofessional. When booking this unit we were not informed that this unit was for sale and that there would be showings. There was no communication even at the beginning of our stay that this would be happening. My husband called about 30 min after the incident to let the office know of what happened. We said we would really appreciate them respecting our privacy and not scheduling any showings during our stay, which to give them credit they did although they fell short in working with us to rectify the situation. We said a financial compensation is appropriate in this situation.. considering what happened how we were intruded on and also ill informed about the showing of the unit that we should have anticipated, they only offered a measly sum which didn't even amount to a 1 night stay. We trusted that they would address this concern promptly and take appropriate action to rectify the situation however this didn't happen. I hope my detailed review will let people know what type of company they are dealing with. Never book with !trip vacations again.

Could use some work

Use of the app is okay. Does not save my trip boards and creates a new one (which later can’t be found under trip boards) every time I want to save a property. I do not like the fact that there is no way to contact a representative from VRBO directly in the app. It takes you to the website which then takes you through a maze to locate contact information. I also didn’t like that you can’t see a list from the map view when you “search here” you have to click on each individual price bubble to preview listings. I had an issue with a host canceling a day before I could no longer receive a 50% refund. In my opinion it is really unfair for me to pay half price for a place I never got to stay in and had to find something within a week before my departure. I reached out to host to confirm well before the cut off date with no response up until the message that they could not accommodate me and would issue me a refund. All I got was 50%. I booked in July and it is now October if that gives you a timeline. Just be wary if you don’t get a response from a host. Make sure you confirm your stay and even then there’s nothing to stop them from suddenly saying they can’t accommodate and you losing out on your money.

I spoke with 3 different reps. The first rep. Understood how we wanted to pay, there were 3 parties, and we each wanted to pay our share of the down payment. 1st rep said we were only able to use two cards but thought we could get permission from owner to use 3 cards. He took 3/4 of the payment due on two cards. All was fine. 2nd rep- we can use two cards. So I needed to discuss with rest of family. Spoke with owner, all was fine, could use two cards. Called back to book....rep said No we could only use 1 card for down payment, and could use second card for final payment. Spoke with owner 2nd time, with rep on phone with us, but with 3 families each wanting to pay their portion of down payment seemed again difficult to reach an understanding with me using 2 cards, so I just paid down payment on one card. If the 1st and 2nd rep could understand everything without any confusion I am not sure where the breakdown in communication was and why the differing opinions. I finally got the 1 card down payment made, knowing that my original desire to use 3 cards may have been unusual, but with the 1st rep easily possible. The owner was so very gracious, and her property was so beautiful, right on the water, and private. I just think the issue could have been made clear right up front, and no changes in procedure between reps. We are going to have a great time anyway.

Ice Storm in the PNW

The ice storm in the Pacific Northwest caused all flights to be cancelled. This were not able to use the VRBO I rented for the week of Christmas. I reached out to VRBO, as I have done in cases of emergency weather like this on Airbnb (Airbnb has fully refunded in similar situations), and VRBO said nothing could be done on their end unless the host decided to come to a resolution and give a refund. We decided to catch a flight a few days after Christmas, the earliest that was available to book. I told the host, and she said that VRBO notified her to cancel and that she was going to put the place back up as available. Our intention was to just pay for the full stay and only stay half the time since no refunds were accepted. The host decided she wanted to make extra money by canceling our booking, keeping our money (since it was past the refundable periods under VRBO apologies), and opening it up for others to book. VRBO is not doing anything about this. So we lost all of the money and now have no place to stay when we come. We will need to spend more to book another place due to our host’s decision. We do not recommend using VRBO due to their policies that allow hosts to take your money like this and have no consideration for guests. We will not be using VRBO again and hope this can help anyone considering it to avoid it. That way this doesn’t happen to you, too.

Attachment issue

Gave me the runaround about my points

I was told I would get a 60 point bonus for downloading the app. After speaking with customer service several times, they claimed they already gave me 15 and tried to leave it at that. I further explained that not only had they not given me 15,” but that the offer was for 60. They asked me for a screenshot. I was not aware I would need a screen shot to redeem what they had offered. They finally said they would “give me the 45” since they still insisted they had already given my 15. By then, I chose to settle as I was annoyed at them wasting my time. I received an e-mail asking to send them the information they had requested. There was no request for information so I emailed them back asking what information they where referring too. The send another email a couple of days later asking the same thing. Once again, I emailed them back asking what information they where referring to. They sent the email a third time. I responded the same. A few days later I got an email to inform me that since I was not responding to their emails that they are closing my case. No points. I decided at that point that if this is the way they conduct their business, I can go elsewhere. I prefer to give my business to a company that doesn’t lie about their perks and does not give people the run around. What a waste of time.

FIX YOUR EMAIL VERIFICATION

How is it that, when you sign up for VRBO, you can take someone’s money without verifying their account first? My personal issue was that I signed up through Facebook (which had an old email from college attached to it). Without knowing, I booked a vacation and gave a deposit, but then I was not able to verify the trip because the verification email was sent to the old email. Therefore.. I could not cancel my trip, I could not verify my trip, and yet you guys still took my money! I THEN had to go through a two hour process of talking to customer service people that were not able to change the email, but rather took me through an arduous process of connecting me with the property owners (which did nothing the first go around). I eventually had to call and cancel the order myself through the property people outside of VRBO, re-create a new account, talk to the property owners that I was re-booking under the same name, and then wait for the money to show back up in my account (still waiting). One of the most ridiculous experiences I’ve ever had trying to book something in my life. If it wasn’t for it being a timely manner I would’ve definitely looked at other options. Figure it out VRBO. And spare me the “we apologize” response with a contact number to call. I’ve had enough time on the phone with your “professionals”.

Scammed

Rented a condo with bay tree condominiums in Port Aransas through Vrbo. I had a night shift at work so I skipped my 4pm check in for an early am check in the following day. The room was horrendous roach in the fridge, dog hair all over the bed, dirty showers. The room looked nothing like the pics would leave you to believe. It was worse than a motel and what I paid for they stay was just unacceptable. I kindly let staff know I would not be able to stay and requested a refund by front desk for the dirty room. I was lied to by the host Deborah that they didn’t offer refunds so I had to call Vrbo and argue with the host who was extremely rude while speaking to Vrbo on the phone. I was given every excuse as to why the room was dirty and my pictures of the room were brushed off. Took a 4K pic of the roach in the fridge and host tried to tell me it was a piece of old lettuce… I got a partial refund. They had they nerve to take a cleaning fee and service fee out of my refund for a room I never stayed in and that was never clean… Vrbo also won’t post my review of the property. If you look at their Google reviews they have a low rating but they don’t tell you the full name of the property until you rent. They just try to lure you in with picture. Vrbo allowed the host to to essentially be paid for below par service and lies. I’ve used rental services before but I don’t think this company is worth trusting.

Rodent infestation at 876 Stanford Ave, S. Lake Tahoe (Moonlight Chalet)

We booked for 5 nights and paid over $2200. On 3rd night we stayed up late til 11:30pm and my kids saw a rodent crawling across the kitchen floor. We trapped it behind the laundry room door. Then to our disgust we saw 2 more crossing the kitchen floor. My kids were in tears and we stayed up til 2am trying to chase it out. Being that early morning, VRBO SAID nothing could be done. Obviously there is a nest nearby with multiple rodents INSIDE the house. My wife and kids do NOT feel comfortable staying here for rest of our vacation. Eric and Stacy of VRBO said “this is to be expected because we live in a forest.” No, we didn’t pay over $2,200 to spend our family vacation with multiple rodents INSIDE the house. Also, HEALTH HAZARDS! They so far refused to give us a refund even though we are vacating early and have cleaned up. If they know there is a rodent issue in this community then why didn’t they have exterminators setting traps on a regular basis to be proactive about this. And it’s not just 1 rodent but at least 3 we saw. Totally unacceptable for a family vacation. Health board needs to investigate. I’m waiting for the regional director to response appropriately and do what is fair and reasonable. VRBO should disclose in their ad to expect rodents inside the house if this is their response to rodent complaints. They expect their customers to live in a rodent infested house along with its health hazards???

Use any of their competitors

Highly recommended that you avoid using vrbo and use ANY one of their competitors. Our group of 10, which was inclusive of individuals who work as first responders/essential services (nurses, teachers, seniors care, firefighters, lawyers and law enforcement corrections) wanted a deserved break/kid free weekend and decided to book a property in early December when the region we were staying in was still in the “green zone” and allowed indoor gatherings. However, due to the uncertainty of future events, it was confirmed in writing by the owner of the property that if for some reason he could not rent to our group due to government mandates, that we would be issued a credit and allowed to rebook for a future date! When the covid lock down occured and the "stay at home order" was imposed in Ontario, we attempted to reasonably come to a resolution to rebook for a different weekend, which was previously stated by the owner to not be an issue. But to our surprise, the owner went back on his statement and instead told us that he didn’t offer refunds or rescheduling and that he would not allow us to rebook for a different weekend as previously stated because “he could still honour our booking and recommend a one household limit” (even though he charged us for 10 people) and that we would be responsible for any fines issued if we were in violation of the rules. He then suggested that we cancel our booking (no refund) and rebook a weekend that worked for us (charge us another $2,100) so that he could attempt to rebook our dates and only offered us a “chance” of receiving a refund based on the funds he could recoup. We were then threatened with fraudulent claims that we would be held responsible for damages to his property for the weekend we had booked even though we told him we were not coming due to government restrictions. I contacted vrbo multiple times to get help in resolving the matter and on many occasions I was either hung up on or disconnected from the chat. They didn’t want to deal with any of it. They also just kept saying they can’t change the cancelation policy, which I wasn’t arguing with them. I was arguing the fact that one of the owners they advertise for was going back on a written agreement that was in place before I booked the property. Needless to say, they did nothing. Their customer service is a joke. Following our weekend, in which we didn’t attend, I received an email from vrbo to write a review. So I reviewed my negative experience with the owner and how useless vrbo is in resolving any issue and to use caution when booking a property through them. I then contacted vrbo after 2 weeks of not seeing my review posted and was told they rejected my post because “you didn’t stay at the property”. So I wasn’t allowed to review my negative experience with the owner (to warn others) or with them as a useless company because “I didn’t attend the property” which I wasn’t legally allowed to do...I also asked to put in a complaint about the owner they advertise for and was given an email that doesn’t even work. In conclusion, I would avoid using vrbo. If it was so easy for this one owner to get away with taking money from travellers and not receiving any help from VRBO in rectifying the issue, I would assume that it is common practice.

AVOID VRBO!!!

Used to love VRBO until recent buyout by Expedia. They couldn’t process a simple payment on my recent rental leaving me scrambling to contact the owner myself. Multiple calls and online chats ended every time with promises to get back to me, elevate it to tech department, a resolutions department etc. All went unanswered. No responses until I re-initiated contact. Their final resolution? PAY THE OWNER DIRECTLY IN CASH!! Spent 3 days of my “vacation” travelling across a Caribbean island to meet up with the owner and pay him as much cash as my debit card would let me withdraw each day. On the third day the bank flagged my card due to multiple large cash withdrawals in a foreign country. 2 hours on hold for that.... I have used AirBnB as well with NO issues whatsoever. They have my business now. VRBO - never again. Cam I give Zero stars?

Horrible refunds

This was my first experience using VRBO. So I booked a place for 5 weeks and paid for it right away. Turns out there was a glitch in thier systems that allowed double booking at the place that I had prepaid $3200 for amd it is not available. The host issued the refund right away but for some reason VRBO is going to take 15 days to process my refund. Why? You took my money right away why wont you give it back? Now I still have to find a place to stay while NOT having my $3200. I am in such a bind right now because of this. Stick with Airbnb. These guys have put me in such a bad position. The customer service is awful. We rented a property through VRBO and there were many things that were in the ad and weren’t working or provided at the property. I contacted VRBO before the trip with the owner telling me there were things missing and they said once you’re physically there, get in touch with VRBO and they’ll find you a new place. We get there, I waited on hold and had 2 separate conversations with people who ended up disconnecting the call with me. They refused to help in any way. VRBO is quick to take your money but slow to help you when they promise beforehand. I will never be using them again.

The worst customer care ever

I booked a rental based on the pictures and that VRBO gave the host a “super host” designation. When I arrived the apartment was moldy and the Furniture and bedding smelly and old covered with fresh bedsheets. I contacted the host and he refused to refund. I checked out anyway because it was unsafe for us to stay due to the mold. We were planing a 3 week stay. I called VRBO stayed on waited for an agent for 30 minutes then waited for her to resolve things for 59 minutes. At the end all she could offer was 100 EUR for “minor problem”. I would never use this crappy company again and would never recommend it to anyone.

Wouldn’t use again - felt sketchy

This was my first time using vrbo and I can confidently say it will be my last. Vrbo’s customer service, app, and help center are lacking. Beware, you may have to make payments outside of the app which is a major liability issue. You’ll also be asked for gov. ID by the actual property manager for safety reasons, but that should be asked by vrbo… for safety reasons. When I reached out to their customer service team to ask about outside payments, they just said that it’s a norm! When I pointed out that it was concerning, they responded with “we are aware.” So, yea, save your time and go with another service.

Terrible Company

Made a booking. At checkout price was indicated in CND. However, upon checking my bank statement I was charge in USD (eg. shown $500 CND but charged $500 USD). Reached out several times to bring this to their attention but was given a number of irrelevant explanations. At one point they even tried explaining the concept of currency conversion and told me I should discuss any issues with currency conversions with the bank😓. Next, I was told that I should contact the host. In the end I was told that they would not honour the posted price because I didn’t not have a screenshot of the checkout window for my booking. I didn’t anticipate having this issue therefore I didn’t think to take a screenshot of the checkout screen. Vrbo is unreliable and they have poor customer support should you have any issues. You’ll be given the runaround. I had 3 dropped calls which would constantly cut out.

I used VRBO to book a cottage in Whitney ON with a host named Karen. After my stay I gave a bad but honest review based on my experience there. The host contested my review and VRBO immediately removed it from the host’s page without even talking to me. I rely heavily on reviews to book my trips and after VRBO did this I can no longer trust their reviews and will never rent through them again.

Horrible service

5 days before we we’re supposed to leave on our vacation to Mexico we were contacted by the owner who cancelled our booking even though we had already paid! We contacted VRBO right away and although we were refunded in a couple of days we had no place to stay and no time to spend finding something. The worst ever

This is first and last time I use Vrbo. Their customer service is awful. I was promised a deposit of $500 but never got it. I sent an email which was bounced back and forth between customer service and accounting with no answer. It’s been 5 days already. I’m trying to call someone and cannot find a number to call. When we were in Winnipeg the property owners were not even in the city. We had heavy snow for days. I requested a shovel and got no answer. This site sucks big time and I will use social media to bring the house down. I’m so irate now that I want a full refund not just my deposit back.

The platform & the worst customer service

Avoid VRBO at all costs. The customer service does not help you AT ALL. When all things are leading to the booking clearly being a scam, they make you wait PAST the time of booking to handle the problem. Left stranded with NO place to stay the day and MINUTE of check in, they offer no solutions, creating immense stress and no problem solving skills. Every single thing is preventative and the VRBO team does absolutely nothing to help you. You will be left with no place to stay.

Issues with app

The app is super flaky, I booked a rental and it told me twice it couldn’t process my credit card and then. I suddenly got an email saying I was confirmed and it was paid. Now I have messages from the owner and I can’t open them in the app to respond. Pages in the app regularly just sit in a state like they’re trying to load but never display anything.

Virbo condo owners cancel at own will

Booked a $200 condo in Edmonton, a month in advance to watch soccer game with my son, a block from Commonwealth stadium so watch for this listing. Owner cancelled the rental for no reason the night before our flight. Sent a message asking why, no reply. He probably got a better offer for more $$ from someone else attending the game. So much for planning. So much for the owner being an honest person. There’s no regulation with this Virbo I won’t be using their service again.

Despicable Company

This is an Expedia owned company that didn’t help us out when we weren’t even allowed to leave our country to travel to our rental property during the COVID-19 pandemic. Greedy owners took all of our money, and VRBO just stood by and supported them. AirBNB did full refunds for their renters - they get ALL my business from now on.

Can’t provide feedback on a place that I booked. When trying to connect with an agent it simply states I have no booking, when I have a booking number -ridiculous!.

Do not use them

I reserved a place in Dublin. The host falsely advertised and responded with a “just deal with it” answer when confronted. I contacted VRBO. I proved everything with live pictures and screenshots. They forwarded me to a supervisor who’s was rude and questioned me all over again and added more questions like “why am I only telling them now” even though it was only one day later and was still at the property. I advised him that I says on their site to not worry and if there are any issues, we can let them know beforehand, during or after our stay. I guess that’s a lie. He said that he wanted to put me on hold to call the host, even though they have already tried a few times during the call. The call to VRBO was already over an hour long just to deal with this and to answer the same questions multiple times. I advised him that the international call is costing me too much and to please call me back once he has settled everything. He hung up without even a response and they never called me back. This will be the last time that I used VRBO. I just companies by how they handle issues, and they miserably failed.

2nd time stay here.

We enjoyed our stay here the previous year (2025) & thought we would rebook (2026). Unfortunately, this year there were a lot of undisclosed fees, which made it not worth the price, we paid almost 100% more from the previous year. Also, the coffee machine needed to be cleaned & didn’t work properly and the laundry smelled strongly of mold. We suspect the poor communication was due to the property management company that looks after bookings, which was not the case previously. We come to Vernon every year and we’ll be looking to stay somewhere else next time.

Worst customer service ever

Booked a property in canada and i am living in canada. the price does show as USD but the bill shows the price is USD after i payed with credit card. when i tried to cancel. can not do it through app. i have to call vrbo helpline and a agent answered the call and told me his department can not process this cancellation and he needs to transfer this call to another department the i waited over 2 hours to have someone talked with me and cancelled my reservation. after that i asked the USD charging issue and who will pay currency exchange fee that charged by credit company and the agent disconnect my call and transferred back to helpline again. worst customer service ever never want to have any business with this company

Cancelling isn’t easy

I booked a trip and have been trying to cancel for days and there is no way for me to do it through VRBO or the host. It just says booking not found. When I figure out how to cancel. I’m cancelling all my reservations and not using VRBO again as it’s almost $3000 charged to my credit card. Easy??? NOT!
