Expedia: Hotels, Flights, Cars Positive Reviews
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLEI’ve booked multiple trips with Expedia. At this point if I could give them zero stars I would. They don’t communicate with airlines or hotels very well at all. I booked a trip to Boston, had to change the type of room I got because we added a guest, they charged me $30 which is fine. Then I make sure they know to tell the airline that my husband is disabled (deaf) and travels with his 60lb certified service dog and that we HAVE to be seated together. Major screw up both times. JetBlue says they never received that special request and we’d be separated both times. First time I called to fix it Expedia said only the airline can reassign seats, so I called them and they switched the seats without issue, but they didn’t switch the inbound seats like they were supposed to at the same time. So I called back again and got a different person, this one said only Expedia could switch seats and told me they were going to charge me $50 to change seats. I got someone else on the phone who said the same thing, so I asked for the supervisor. She tried to pull the same crap but blame Expedia for not giving them proper information about our special circumstances. After arguing with her for 10 minutes she finally just switched the seats and told me in future I need to book directly through the airline. I’m so sick of this. I make the calls and give them all the pertinent information and this is the same headache I’ve had to deal with for all of my trips. I’m over it..Becca1179Version: 19.39

Rude and Pathetic Customer Service!! Wrong information displayed on websiteI booked a flight to Hyderabad, India from Dallas, Texas (USA). Since there is no direct flight, there were three connecting flights, Dallas - Frankfurt (American Airlines), Frankfurt - Abu Dhabi (Etihad) and finally Abu Dhabi - Hyderabad (Etihad). While booking it on their site the trip showed 2 Check in Bags allowed, which was a criteria for selecting the flights. Once the booking was done, we received an email with the trip details which mentioned there was a 100$ fee for the second bag in American, and Etihad allowed 2 bags. Firstly, how stupid is the software? How can you show the Maximum allowable baggage!!!! And why weren’t the fees for the excess baggage mentioned??? Why was the one bag limit on American NOT mentioned!!!??? Everything aside, we called Expedia and they told that the excess baggage amount will be refunded to us. This gave us a false sense of assurance! Once we claimed the refund though the Customer Service didn’t help us and were rude. They literally told us we don’t care, you can post anywhere on social media and do anything we won’t refund your money. It’s not about the money anymore, it’s about how a company just disregards it’s customers and makes false claims, they could have just mentioned sorry but the second bag is charged. We would have not carried the second baggage at all. But seriously, this is the most inconsiderate treatment I have received from a customer facing company.

Fairfield inn and suitesFirst all New York City hotels are small so don’t expect normal hotel sizes unless you are paying a lot more. The hotel was in a great location on 37th street between 5th and 6th Ave. We (family of 4) arrived at 11am. The manager was wonderful. She held our bags (8) so we could walk around while our rooms were getting ready. She also put our rooms together and got us a small refrigerator for our stay. There are only 6 rooms on each floor but the walls are solid and you couldn’t hear other rooms. Our view was the Empire State Building (pretty cool). Rooms are very clean and beds are very comfortable. The water pressure for the shower was outstanding. Breakfast room was small but workers always made sure tables got cleaned off immediately and the stacked the food quickly. Some kind of eggs everyday as well a different meat(s) daily. Waffles, cereal, parfaits, juices, coffee and fruit. Very nice to not have to worry about that meal with the high prices of NYC. Mid afternoon we would come back to take breaks and they had a wonderful mango juice and cookies for us. The hotel manager reserved us a car for our drive back to the airport at 4:45 am. I would definitely stay there again if I go back. (I would stay away from time square if you want to avoid sirens all through the night). One other thing the elevator was fast. That is not always the case with all hotels..Family Vacation from ArkansasVersion: 2025.23
My first experience flying from Boston,Ma -Juneau AlaskaIt’s so beautiful to go back to where I was born. My mom and dad moved from Sitka Alaska back to Worcester,Ma in 1959
My dad was in the Coast guard. His race was half French and half italiono My oldest brother Johnny actually his real name was Donald jr. He was born in Sitka Alaska. Then when we moved back to Worcester my second oldest brother Michael was born in Worcester Then my parents moved back to Sitka with two little Indians. Because after returning to Sitka my third oldest brother was born on 9 August 1962. Unfortunately god must’ve wanted David in heaven. He only lived 3 months he died of crib death. That’s what they called it back then. Then on 18 November 1963 came son number “4” that would be me Jeffery Joseph David. My dearest Mom was a. Full Blooded Thlingit
Indian now I know there’s going to be probably 99.5% of the Thlingit tribe saying that I spelled it wrong. But if there’s a few of the elders alive they will say that I am correct
Anyway after I was born mom and dad packed up four little Indian boys. That finally changed on 6 May 1965 the first girl was born in to the family Lynda. One girl wasn’t enough mom and dad had their second daughter Christine. 23 June 1966 but mom and dad weren’t done there was one more addition to the family. Our baby brother, Matthew. 30 March 1968. That was in January of 1964 mom and dad made the last move from Alaska to Worcester, Massachusetts. That’s where we were raised

Horrible PoliciesI’ve booked through Expedia in the past and it was fine. Had no issues. Enter covid and now things are different. You can’t get anyone on the phone unless you have a flight booked. I booked a trip but had to cancel it, and they refunded my hotel but gave me an airline credit. I try to use that airline credit at a later time and they up-charge me hundreds of dollars more. I tell them that on their website it shows that the flight is actually 150 dollars cheaper than my credit. They tell me that’s the price for first time booking only. Makes no sense to me, and as I’m on the phone with them I look it up on the airline’s website and the prices are still well below my credit value. I tell them that, and then they go on to say that airlines do the same thing. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. Expedia is the discount booking site! Booking straight with the airline is normal pricing. Absolutely ridiculous! Oh, and forget about the fact that they don’t make it easy to re-book with your credit. You have to call them to do so. Totally backwards and screams of being scammy. It makes me feel like they do that to get extra money because they can come up with whatever nonsense excuse, like saying you can only book through them because you paid through them. And, yes, that’s what they told me. I decided to make sure if that was the case. I ended up calling the airline to see if I can book through them - and they were able to book the flight I found for the price below credit value!!! I had to pay a 50 dollar external booking site fee to do so. So I paid 50 bucks re-booking directly instead of the 320 if I were to go with their scam. Left a horrid taste in my mouth..SexinvegasVersion: 20.50
Nightmare ExperienceI recently booked a unit through [Expedia/Airbnb], expecting a seamless and enjoyable stay. Instead, I was met with a series of unfortunate events that not only ruined my night but also resulted in financial losses and emotional distress.
Upon arrival, we discovered that the unit was fake and already occupied. This shocking revelation left us stranded on the streets, with our belongings laid out, as we desperately tried to make alternative arrangements. The lack of proper property verification on [Expedia/Airbnb]'s part directly led to this debacle.
While waiting for family members to assist, we endured a 2.5-hour ordeal on the streets. This not only robbed us of precious bonding time but also exposed us to the risk of theft. Regrettably, my clothes were stolen during this time, adding to the mounting frustrations of the night.
The repercussions of this oversight by [Expedia/Airbnb] were costly. We had to shell out over $230 for a last-minute hotel booking. More than the financial setback, the emotional toll this experience took on us was immeasurable. We felt humiliated in front of locals and were robbed of a night that was supposed to be about family bonding.
I urge [Expedia/Airbnb] to take immediate action to ensure rigorous property verification. No traveler should have to go through what we endured. It's essential for platforms like [Expedia/Airbnb] to uphold the trust users place in them. This incident has severely shaken my faith in your services, and I hope you take the necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future..Baselq123Version: 23.30
Abandoned in Denver by United Airlines, no help from ExpediaTitle says it all. We were cancelled for flight home to Pennsylvania. We were in Rapid City South Dakota. Family of three including autistic son. After 7 hour wait we were rebooked by United to Denver. No flights out of Rapid City for at least two days. Nice agent said go to service desk in Denver, we’ll put you up in hotel. Fly home next morning. Sounds ok all things considered. It was peak summer travel time. So we went to Denver. Upon arrival we were greeted by a line at service desk . No exaggeration it was 2/10 mile long! We were in at least three or four lines for hours. Again, no exaggeration. United agent finally said their system had collapsed. Another United agent said that I should have seen the problem on the Today show. They wouldn’t give us hotel room. I asked if we were on our own. United agent said yes. Denver airport kind of looked like a refugee camp! People were sleeping on the floor. No where to even sit down. I was able to book a hotel room in Parker. Dangerous taxi driver took us for a ride and a half. It cost $116 and almost our lives. Uber ride next morning much nicer. Delta got us home with no drama. Thank you Delta and your Denver agents. We did have to pay baggage fees to Delta but not for tickets. I spent at least $500 extra between hotel and surface transportation. I tried to get refund from United. Their website is designed to prevent that. No way to contact Expedia. I rated four stars because I thought their computer might flag low rating..Driving next timeVersion: 2023.39
Great hotelRooms were clean and very nicely updated. We had a a cute little balcony and a beautiful view of the city and sea. Staff were also exceptionally friendly and helpful. note that there is no parking for visitors on the premises but there was a parking lot a block away that was easy to get to through a charming street. Overall this hotel had a beautiful and very convenient location very close to the main square. One caution is that the route to the hotel from most of the old town is up the hill and you must climb several flights of stairs to reach it. The hotel also requires climbing a flight of stairs to reach the rooms, all of which could be quite challenging if you have mobility issues. However, you can chose to drive and park in the side lot I mentioned and walk a block on flat streets to get to and from the place. We did this when we went to the beach and that was quite convenient (just don’t park within any green lines as those are for residents). Much of the older city is built on a the same hill and some many other hotels have a bit of a hike from the main square as well—usually up charming bougainvillea-filled stairs. Additionally, we were able to drive down a lane and park in front of the hotel for loading up our luggage but we just couldn’t park for long..AzureSeasVersion: 2025.32
Great customer service! The room was nice! Loved the fact that the toilet is separated from the shower so our large group could still use the toilet without having to wait for the person in the shower to get out. Breakfast was awesome. Waffles, eggs, sausage, coffee, fruits, cereals, breads/bagels etc,..but my favorite part was our hostess was super kind and made it happened. I asked for extra pillows and she gladly got them for me, other hotels look at me like I’m Asking for diamonds. I had some ice packs I needed to be frozen for the next morning. When I discovered that our fridge did not have a freezer, I went downstairs to see if she could put them in the freezer. And she gladly did that for me. Other hotels in the past act like I’m asking for the moon! We even got a goodie bag just for checking in! It was a great experience. The only down side, and this may have been my fault if I didn’t read it correctly, but the “pull out” couch was not a pull out couch. We just removed the back rest cushions and made the bed. Which by the way, the room had sheets, pillow and bedding ready to go in the room, where usually, I have to go downstairs and ask for all that. Any way that bed was hard. And it fit two people but it was tight like a little wider than a twin bed. But it was all worth the rate and the service!.ChristopherMcCaskillVersion: 2025.35
Expedía Customer Service is the worstHonestly they are the worst in every sense of the word. They have terrible customer service never actually resolve your issue they just make excuses about why they can’t help you and keep you on hold most of the time. Expedia advertises things on their website/app that are misleading and when you get to the hotel, what they advertise is not what you get. When I called and advised them of this they offered no assistance and when I asked to cancel they said they would not return the money paid for the rest of the stay and that I had to take It up with the hotel themselves. After showing the hotel the reservation booked through Expedia and what was being advertised they said that they’ve had this issue before with Expedia and that the pictures utilized to advertise the reservations were inaccurate and misleading. Thankfully the hotel cancelled my booking and provided a written statement about what happened so that I can be reimbursed by my bank. In the end Expedia provided me a credit that has so many limitations and rules to them that it’s near impossible to redeem. When I tried utilizing the credit for a flight I was given a list of things that I needed to qualify for in order to use (which I did) and then when it came time to book they said they could not apply it because it had to be utilized for a booking that was advertised by Expedia and not by an airline yet EXPEDIA IS ADVERTISING IT ON THEIR WEBSITE. Honestly Expedia is just scammy and has terrible customer service, steer clear of them and if you don’t, be prepared to be disappointed. They are very quick to take your money but make you jump through hoops when they mess up and you want your money back..Jlsp1211Version: 23.6
Best deals. Period.I book most of my trips with Expedia, but my upcoming trip to Kauai was going to cost about $7000 for five of us to go to Kauai for a week and that was with us staying out a budget hotel (& one of our travelers is an infant and another is an eight-year-old) but I used Expedia during their memorial Day weekend sale and got a package deal and now we’re paying less than $4000 for five of us to spend six days in the hotel that won the best boutique hotel award on Kauai for basically half of what Priceline was going to cost for a substantially less nice hotel and a package that did not include a rental car!!! I honestly can’t say enough good things about Expedia. They make the booking process so much easier. It quite literally eliminates the need for a travel agent. I even used AI to generate an itinerary for my trip, which really helped us have an idea on how much time we’d have to do. So that makes it even more amazing that you can use AI to personalize the activities and how you spend your time. It literally picked where we could eat and gave us multiple suggestions for every part of every day. It even told us when to drop off the rental car and when to be at the airport and how long it would take to get there from our hotel!!.UfjdjdjxbxbfVersion: 2025.20
Terrible Customer ServiceI have utilized Expedia for nearly a decade for myself and my family my colleagues in acquaintances. Each year it seems like they’re getting worse and worse. I made a couple of light suggestions because customer service reps were exceptionally rude and when I asked politely to speak with a supervisor they told me they have noSupervisors on staff. It’s interesting how they take your money when you need it refunded they do everything they can to try to avoid that they try to talk you into getting a credit which they can only do in certain dollar increments even though you paid in full two to $3000 for a booking not to mention the blackout dates I’ve literally lost thousands not being able to utilize their airfare, hotel or rental credits. Today I thought I would give it one more shot but I got a supervisor they just made a bunch of excuses and really was not helpful at all. I let them know that it was very disappointing because I’ve spent a lot of moneyThrough the years with Expedia but I’m willing to pay a little more and get excellent customer service and people that are cognizant, polite and professional on all levels.
I’m not one to normally post a review of this nature but I felt if they were treating me the way they were and I was kind caring and respectful on a professional level and they all behaved consistently the way they were it’s only right to notify the public that maybe you should take your business elsewhere and save yourself having to be on the phone for a simple reservation or refund for up to two hours while they manually enter everything.
For those that have a good experience I’m happy for you but the last few years I’ve just been terrible with them so I’m taking my business elsewhere..UilalaVersion: 22.16
I will never book with Expedia againMy booking with Expedia occurred in June 2019. This is my third beach trip this year. I chose to use Expedia this time because it had the cheapest room for the room type I wanted at the hotel I wanted to stay at. In my room description it did not say “kitchenette” but in the pictures of the room it had a full kitchenette. I assumed the room was going to have a kitchenette. When I checked in, my room did not have a kitchenette and was smaller than appeared to be on Expedia. I then talked to the check in office and they said to call Expedia. The man at Expedia called the front office and they told him they were fully booked that night but could move me to a room the next day. The next day I went down to move rooms and they said it’d be another day. The next day front office said it would be another day again so I called Expedia for a second time. After an hour on the phone with Expedia, being put on hold at least 10 times, and being transferred to a super visor, they told me the only option I had was to pay an $180 fee to upgrade rooms because the only room my hotel had open was a much bigger room than what I booked. They also sent my case to corporate to be reviewed and corporate said my room was never suggested to have a kitchenette, so they would not pay to move me rooms, or give me any type of refund. I then went to Expedia’s website to prove that my room was said to have a kitchenette. They had changed the picture of what the room was supposed to look like, but the caption remained “kitchenette” on the picture but only showed a sink, mini fridge, and microwave. Ima very dissatisfied with Expedia and will not use them again..James Horner LockVersion: 19.25
40th Anniversary Celebration at Secrets AkumalThank you to the management team and to all the wonderful staff at Secrets Akumal who made our 8 day stay the PERFECT romantic place to celebrate and enjoy 8 glorious days in paradise. There are so many fun activities to choose from throughout the day and lovely entertainment extending late into the evenings. (The special daily “Main Pool” lunches and specialty cocktails were always delicious and not to be missed!)
My husband and I are scuba divers and avid snorkelers, and we enjoyed long swims in the ocean just in front of the hotel every day in beautiful warm clear water. We saw turtles, puffers, schools of blue tangs and other typical Caribbean fish, several species of stingrays (including bull and spotted eagle ray) and squid. (FYI, the Mexican government is enacting a reef conservation program trying to protect the reef system in this beautiful bay). Special shout out and huge thank you to some of the wonderful people who made our stay memorable at Secrets, Akumal including our Expedia Local expert Ivan Grande (thank you for your help!), our awesome concierge Yair (and concierge Fernanda also!), Efferen at the beach, and so many fun people involved with the pool and beach activities (entertainment coordinator Jonas and also Rodrigo and Rene), Dulce in housekeeping and also all the amazing waiters, bartenders and restaurant staff throughout the resort. For us, Secrets Akumal was a little slice of heaven and the lovely smiles and attitudes of the employees made it a perfect vacation..Cory luv2snorkelVersion: 21.10
Great appI love this Expedia App. The best part about the app was that I was able to quickly search Air and Hotel and get double points. They have all the various aspects for travel available on the app such as Air, Hotel, Car, Activities to do such as booking transportation from the airport and lastly I can create a package which allows me of savings especially when one thinks about travelling with family, though I have never tried booking activities but I have searched what’s in it based on my curiosity. Sometimes when I have travelled, I have noticed non availability for hotels, but with Expedia I have always found place even when it has been last minute. The app is very easy to use especially sorting out the hotels by their star ratings and neighborhoods along with the price. One thing though I would recommend Expedia doing is to have more filters as they have on their desktop. I have found the hotel reviews to be accurate mostly with a few exceptions. Being an Expedia Gold member, whenever I have had any problems, I have called their customer service as the app provides the numbers and have been answered fairly quickly rather than waiting on long phone calls as is the experience with other businesses. I usually use the app to look up for confirmation numbers when trying to print my boarding pass at airport and to look up the address of the hotel for my local transportation. I also like if there are flight changes like terminal/gate changes while you’re at the airport then the app with notify you. Also you can access your info even if you’re offline with the last update. It’s great to see the same hotels that are available on desktop are also on the app. I like that once I make a booking I quickly get their confirmation email..Bengal baby77Version: 18.11
Warning!!!Be really careful and think before using Expedia to book something, I planned and booked a whole trip with Expedia spending around $10,000 between flights, hotels and activities, one of the days I arrived to Rome and I went to check my email confirmation to call the hotel/property phone number and the answer that they where not partnered with Expedia anymore so I spent another 4 hours!!! Talking to their representatives repeating the information over and over again, talked to supervisors, managers and they allocation department which where trying to charge me for another place!!! I keep calling and calling them and nobody helped! The call keep failing or disconnecting, I don't know if they do it to get out of the hook but they never returned the call that obviously they have my phone number on file, so I ended walking at 1 in the morning with my family looking for another place to sleep with no battery in my phone to call them again after 4 hours with them! Also when you reserve a rental car Do Not Use their insurance because when you get to the rental place the companies say they don’t accept Expedia insurance and Expedia won’t reimburse for what you paid of their insurance!.GahdlmlfVersion: 19.49
Expedia does not care about the customer at all! This company is a joke. They have a search engine that suggests an airport is “nearby” when it is 14 hours driving time away from the destination. If you try to make adjustments within 24 hours of your purchase, they are more than happy to tell you they can’t help you and that the customer is at fault. I spoke with supervisors and managers as well as their social media company. None of them care about you at all. The best part is that this was all over $80. Imagine if I had actually booked my entire trip through them using their broken search engine! Use literally any other travel service for your next trip. My credit card company made me whole, no thanks to Expedia and their awful customer service. Have heard very similar stories in the last couple of weeks over way more money including stealing one of my friends reservation for over $1k.
Here is the good news. After I stopped using this awful company, I tried a different travel service and their rates were way more affordable. Checkout Klook the next time you need to book a trip and stay as far away from Expedia as possible..King of lake townVersion: 23.23
Econo Lodge Dalhart TX a Reasonable and Affordable StayI chose the Dalhart Texas Econo Lodge as the most reasonable motel in a small city which had several other chain options. I was driving to Albuquerque in a marathon from New Jersey where this was the final overnight, which I had calculated to be four hours away. I needed a bed for the night, nothing more, and Econo Lodge fitted the bill. The room had been thoroughly cleaned, had a slight scent of disinfectant, and the bed was certainly comfortable although higher off the floor than any other motel/hotel I’ve been in over the years. A full hot breakfast bar in the lobby area was available at 6am the next morning at check out. Traffic noise outside on the main street was high as it is Route 54, a heavily travelled route for grain and livestock trucks through Oklahoma Texas and New Mexico with the equally heavily trafficked rail freight line paralleling this road a block away, but I had a good sleep. It is fair to say that every motel/hotel, chain or local, would have the same environment. Many restaurants/ fast food outlets are located in what must have been a thriving commercial farming/ranching community in its heyday. For my short stay, it was the perfect choice..ScsrletvoiceVersion: 22.01
Thank you Jesus!!On our stay. Front desk check-in was good, but interesting. There was a Muslim woman in the lobby, and I could tell she was upset because she was ranting and raving about something very important to her. If I knew her language maybe I could have helped. I felt bad for her. Her Mom and Dad tried to help, but we’re not able to. So green t to the room, and nothing was plugged in. The refrigerator, the microwave not even the coffee pot. Then went to the bathroom, and around the floor walls there were cob webs. And the worst thing - no hot water. Try taking a cold shower in the morning. Whoa, wake up! And the real reason I won’t go back is the walls are do thin. From 9pm until 3am. The next door neighbors were yelling and screaming, First a big fight. Slamming doors. No way anyone was getting to bed. Then after this fight they left for maybe an hour, and then you could tell they were high on something. So all the yelling intensified. Worse than before. They kept slamming the doors over and over again. We were afraid to go outside. No one knew if they had a gun. I tried using the phone. The wire to the receiver was too small, which made the phone inoperable. So I got my cell and called the front desk, and he told me there was nothing he could do. So I asked him to call the police, and he said he would, now I never looked outside to see if they came but around 3am, the group left, but not without slamming the doors again. So that was my evening, finally got to sleep but was so tired the next day I went about like a zombie, so exhausted. I’m just happy that nobody in my family was hurt. By the mercy of God we were all safe!!.AlfmuthVersion: 22.42
Used to be greatI don’t understand what happened since that last time I booked a trip but my current booking is so ******* frustrating I’m ready to quit. It used to be so simple and intuitive. The sign-in is now soooo convoluted, it won’t take the password I know is correct and I can’t find current itineraries to print, so I’m, FORCED to sign in. With Facebook, which I hate doing, and it keeps telling me all the info is in an email (that does not exist, I’ve searched everywhere) I finally requested a resend but only half the info I need is on it. When I try to open a page to print I keep getting a “Sorry something’s went wrong” message. Now I’m in panic mode, it’s only a couple days till my trip, I’m trying to make rideshare plans to the airports and can’t find out when the flights leave so I can tell my rides! And now I can’t find the airline confirmation codes either. They WERE there in the email and now suddenly they’re not. I’m ready to pull my hair out! Is it because I’m using a brand new iPad? Is the site not iPad compatible? Is it a new security protocol? My current booking is absolutely the most frustrating booking I have ever made. I do not understand why it’s so different than just 6 months ago..RejectseverynicknameVersion: 2024.20

Absolutely horrific serviceArrived after 10 pm building three was closed… building one said to get Expedia to transfer reservation over to them and Expedia refused to assist in any way…. Rude service that doesn’t stand behind their service. Lack of Customer ServiceI booked a motel last minute. I called the motel if they were ok with us checking in really late as we were in road and needed a place to sleep for a few hours. The motel confirmed and said it was fine and to go ahead and book. After booking we get a call about 40 mins away from the motel that the it was late and she receptionist wants to go sleep and does not want to wait. We got charged and had to sleep in the car since every other place was booked. I followed up with Expedia and they pretty much did not do anything. Told me they will call me back and follow with the motel which they did not do. Been a loyal customer on Expedia for pretty much my entire travels. Very disappointment!.A Y HassanVersion: 21.42.1

I called to have some information, and all 3 agents that talking to them didn’t know anything about their package, like Free transit, the distance from beach and extra, and when finally I booked, right away I found out that the spelling of my name was wrong, just one word. I sent the email and asked them to correct my mistake, and no reply from them. When I finally called them they charged me $50 for correcting the spelling, and when I complained he told that it was mentioned in terms and conditions!!! I was really upset as I am a gold member of Expedia. I will never get back to Expedia as they don’t appreciate loyalty..Try this game or dieVersion: 21.41
Bunch of CrooksI have $1600+ in airline credits that Expedia is holding. Wish I never booked anything through these crooks. I’m trying to book a flight for me and my daughter to Anaheim to go to Disneyland. On Expedia’s website it CLEARLY shows each ticket is below $450 each. Expedia is telling me our flights are $800+ which I can see is a complete lie. These scammers should be put out of business. Just because I have credits and can’t book online they’re flagrantly ripping me off. Never again will I buy anything from these crooks again.ScammedbyExpediaVersion: 21.41

Expedia: Hotels, Flights, Cars Negative Reviews
They don’t care about CovidBooked a stay in Fort Wayne, Indiana and my husband was diagnosed with Covid a few hours before we were scheduled to leave for our trip to come and stay there. I called the hotel directly and they told me in order to cancel. I would need to go through Expedia as they are a third-party carrier. when I called Expedia and spoke with the rep, they told me that they would have to call the hotel or I would have to call the hotel. It seems that neither side really knew which one was responsible. The Expedia representative outright lied to me and told me that they talked to the front desk manager and the front desk manager told them that they were not willing to cancel it. When I talk to the front desk manager, when I went to check in, they told me the Expedia said they could not refund the money. They did not care that my husband had Covid. They did not care that we were going to be staying in the hotel and they did not care to just refund the money based on a serious illness that could not be controlled. He had been to the doctor at 11 AM and we found out then and I called the hotel at 12:15 when we got out of the doctors office but they did not care about that. The hotel did not want to cancel it because they could collect my money then book my room and dip. And Expedia didn’t want to refund my money because quite frankly they obviously just don’t care. Highly recommend another provider for discount hotels and or just calling the hotel directly..Dexcom unreliabilityVersion: 2024.45.1
Paid for seats together, but not givenMy family and I bought round trip tickets from SFO to Austria. Each ticket was $600 for round trip. Then I was asked for each flight (4 in total) if I wanted to select seats. We paid $20-$60 each for each flight to select seats together, paying $200 extra. We then check our tickets to see that only one of us have two reserved seats out of four flights, and the other only one reserved seat. We called support and the lady that “helped” us mumbled the entire time and told us that the flights don’t allow us to choose our seats. We picked out each seat individually and paid for each one on the Expedia website, but apparently the airlines don’t allow selected seats? So either Expedia commits fraud for customers to pay more or they messed up the tickets. Either way seats together were paid for, and customer support gave no help and was unwilling to look into it. Also the receipt does not break down anything you paid for so neither Expedia nor a customer can look back at it for help. I am a very understanding person, I am not one to get upset with someone in customer support because I understand that they did not create the problem, but when they show zero interest in helping you, mumble all their words because they don’t know what to tell you just to get you off the phone, and tell you to call the airline even though it was an Expedia issue I will complain. $200 is a lot of money to lose, and be blown off by support..ElMaNaSaVersion: 2025.30
Bad experienceI tried to change a flight, overseas travel. I searched for options and had a few to choose from. I did this for almost 2 weeks and the option was still there with the same additional fee. One day I picked the one that best fit my needs. I press continue and a message popped up that I had to call. I decided to wait one more day but I got the same message. Before calling I tried the chat option (it’s a bot). I was presented with the same options, I filled out the payment info and I received a message that I had to call. When I called I was told that the flight option was there but it was about $250 more than what was quoted online for 2 weeks. They claimed the price changed and that what was on the website was an error.
Two hours later I decided to contact them on social media. There I was told that the flight option was no longer available. But first I was told that my option was not eligible for a change since it was not the same airline. I told them to look again since it was a British airline flight with a BA flight number but operated by AA. Which was super clear in the screenshot I present to them. And then since that didn’t work, the flight was bo longer available again. I’ll probably call back to be told that the flight is available but that I’d have to pay 3 times more 😂
Long story short if you can avoid them, do it. There are plenty of options or book through the airline directly. I know it’s not as easy when you need a flight with multiple connections and to not so super popular destinations..Zanix8Version: 22.27
Technical issues they can’t resolveI have never left a review. However, this time, I have no choice.
I booked a work trip for one night and it included airfare, hotel and rental car. For some strange reason, every time I started a new reservation, the reservation would self populate with the letter “t” and then my last name. My first name begins with an “R”. It was strange but I changed all the reservations to my correct first and last name. I paid for the reservations and received confirmation emails. When I went to check in day of flight, the air carrier could not find my reservation. I tried for two hours to rectify the situation but was unable. I then had to make additional air, hotel and car rental reservations.
When I checked in for my flight, I asked if there was another person with my last name(it’s not common) had s flight. The counter attendant confirmed that there was a “t” with my last name on the flight.
When I had a chance to finally contact Expedia and asked what had happened, I was asked what name was on my account. I looked it up and indicated that it was indeed in my first name. I was then told I had few options snd none for compensation for the reservation that had already occurred. At best, I might get a credit for the one flight that I had not yet taken. Unfortunately by then I had no time to pursue that as my return flight was two hours later.
The work trip cost me approximately $900 out of pocket and I WILL NEVER USE EXPEDIA AGAIN..Expedia really sucksVersion: 2026.18
FraudWorst experience I have ever had booking a hotel. Long story short, we booked a special weekend for my daughter’s sixth birthday to have some friends spend the night in a suite with an indoor pool to have fun. She loves hotels and we thought it would be special. Unfortunately, she got sick with a fever and vomiting and other stomach issues. When I tried to cancel my booking I was stuck for over two hours with the app crashing, no phone numbers to call, no actual reps to talk to, nothing. I couldn’t cancel the booking. When I finally reached someone hours later they refused to escalate my issue, they insisted we submit medical documentation to cancel our booking even though we paid to cancel last minute if necessary and had attempted to cancel two hours before the deadline. For those of you with kids, they were telling us we had to go sit for hours at an emergency clinic to get a note to submit to the hotel and wouldn’t even guarantee that would give us our full refund. They wouldn’t answer me on whether they would wait until my daughter could see her daughter. They wouldn’t let me speak with a manager and they ended up ending our chat abruptly because they didn’t like my questions. Kim Diaz was the worst customer service agent I’ve ever had to deal with. Don’t do business with Expedia. There is nothing that makes it worth it in any way shape or form and I believe that they have paid reviewers or bots filling things out to give them 4.8 stars because there is no way that is accurate..BlackShamrock31Version: 22.07
… until there is a problemBooked a hotel and chose “ pay at property “ option . The hotel charged the credit card four days before arrival and four days within the free cancellation period . When called the hotel refused to refund the charge . Upon arrival we quickly discovered the room was not at all like the pictures on Expedia, very poor condition and in serious need of repair , cigarette smoke damaged etc. the manager refused to relocate us saying she had no other “dog rooms “. Though our animals are service animals and should be allowed in any rooms she used foul language and told us to deal with it . A call to Expedia resulted in zero relief and the customer service suggested we book something else on our own ! We booked another room two hours drive away late at night . The next day and several frustrating hours on the phone , experienced very poor customer relations from several agents , sending pictures and copy of our Expedia confirmation to their agent she finally refunded our hotel bill.
Expedia was absolutely challenging to deal with and has we not continued to pursue this we would have been out the cost . It’s all good until you have a problem . Obviously , Expedia does not verify the property photos and quality or monitor customer reviews . This property has had a lot of negative reviews recently but their overall rating was higher I suspect from fake reviews because the property is not updated or properly maintained.Tembrey1103Version: 2025.27.1
Rental car nightmareMy husband planned a trip to Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, and Sedona, Arizona through Expedia. That included renting a car from Hertz. All plans have gone beautifully, EXCEPT our experience with Hertz.
When we arrived at the Hertz counter, a young employee said the car my husband reserved was no longer available. How does that happen when you reserve a specific car and pay well over $400 well in advance??? (I don’t know the exact date/amount , because he does not know I’m writing this. )
Another “gentleman” comes over and proceeds to tell my husband that we need a bigger car for a more comfortable drive anyway! Also says we need more insurance coverage, too. Gives us a price and we are shocked! The he uses the old line “let me go talk to my manager”, and comes back with a different, expensive offer.
In the long run, we ended up paying over $800 for a bigger car, AND lost the $400+ that he had already paid.
This trip is a big deal for us. We are not wealthy by any means. We love to travel, but have never been able to take a trip this big. The exciting anticipation of finally getting outside our beloved Virginia, was definitely dampened by the loss of so much money wasted, and by the treatment of the Hertz employee who treated us like idiots and, in my opinion, scammed us. We will never use Hertz again, and doubtfully Expedia, the next time we save up for a trip. We thought that my husband’s agreement with Expedia could be counted on. It could not..Rental Car DisasterVersion: 2026.16
No one to help with a refundI booked a trip for my brother from Istanbul to Bogota plus a few days stay in bogota and another flight from Bogota to Cancun all through Expedia as I had been using it for years and did not have complaints until then. The Bogota flight had a few hours layover in Canada. When the time came my brother went to the airport but was not allowed to check in. They said Canada layover would need visa and he didn’t have one. Now the absurdity of the visa requirement aside, when booking the flight, Expedia never mention a possibility of visa requirement for such a flight. The least they could’ve done was to give a warning for me to double check when booking. Despite all the arguments at the check-in, my brother was not allowed to take the flight. As a result the stay in Bogota and flight to Cancun had to be cancelled too. Another problem is, Expedia wouldn’t take liability for any of those and we had to go through the vendors, the airline for flight to Bogota, the hotel in Bogota, and the airline for Cancun. The first flight refunded about 70%, the hotel cost was not refunded and the airline for the flight to Cancun gave credit which I don’t see myself using it as they only fly a few places in Latin America and the credit will probably expire in a few months. After the partial refund of Air Canada, whole thing cost us about $750. So if you’re going to book a flight from multiple airlines or with a layover in another country, do not use Expedia to fall victim to a similar scenario..Omid TMVersion: 2024.2
Terrible ServiceI have used Expedia quite a few times. The convenience has usually been great for booking. After this last experience I don’t think I will use this service anymore. I booked two flights in March of 2020 at the peak of the pandemic. My flight was canceled. I had purchased insurance (which I never do). I tried to call numerous times and could not get through. I was notified of a credit (with a time limit), but no refund. A year and a half later I tried to use my credit through the airline it was with. The credit number would not submit through the airlines website without error. I then had to contact Expedia because they were the 3rd party I purchased through. The agent [Loree EN:0406] attempted to guide me through the process with very limited options. She told me I had to use my credits individually (which is not true) call the airline! She told me the only way to use my credits was to have her book my flight or book it through the app which was not helpful because I was trying to book a trip with my partner who also had credits. My partners credit number worked for whatever reason. They told me I have to contact a third party insurance company to receive a cash refund for my itinerary. So as a heads up, DON’T BOTHER PURCHASING INSURANCE THROUGH EXPEDIA, it’s a scam. We then contacted the airline directly which were very helpful and punctual. I do not recommend Expedia, as they have terrible customer service. Their employee Loree #0406 was rude and not helpful in resolving my issues..BrandonchristebmxVersion: 2024.12
Frustrating experience because of Expedia!I made 2 reservations at The Galt House in Louisville. I received confirmation on both reservations. I thought everything was set and would be simple. Although the folks at the Galt House were very nice and tried to be helpful, they kept telling me that I didn’t have any reservations. After looking at my confirmations and the 4th person (I believe the manager) trying to help me, she finally said that she would go ahead and put us in some rooms. Although I had paid Expedia for the rooms, after looking at my credit card online transactions, I was being charged an additional $240 at one time and then and additional $190 later in the night. When I addressed the issue with the front desk the next morning, the attendant said that she didn’t see that I had made any payment at all. I later spoke to the manager again and although the $240 had been reversed, I still had the charge for $190 pending. She did say that the hotel had called Expedia and then gave me a receipt for a credit of $190, it’s still pending on my transaction list. I’m going to give it another day and see what happens. I can honestly say that the manager did everything she could to correct a problem caused by Expedia. Not sure that I would feel safe in using Expedia again. I’m back home now but still dealing with this frustrating experience that is still causing me aggravation. We’ll see if it gets resolved today..Bob D. in KY.Version: 23.6
Prices are just liesI was looking for a hotel in Orlando and found one for $69 a night! I’m thinking hey I hit the jackpot. The details say with taxes and fees it’ll end up around $156 (for my 2 night stay) but I always have the option to cancel for a full refund up to a certain day. So I hit reserve the room and it takes me to the checkout page which says my total price is $263 and that’s not including some resort fee they’ll probably charge me when I actually get there. I’m thinking ok some sort of mistake let me try again. So I go back and make sure I’m really hitting reserve on the $69/night one and yup, I tap it again and it updates itself to about $118 or so per night and then adds taxes and fees so brings me right back up to $263. Now I’m thinking there’s no way they just throw a random low price on the listing to get you to click. So I go back and read through all the details and tap on all the things to see if I missed anything and I didn’t. So then I get on chat and the person tells me “oh that’s just marketing.” Wow so you’re straight up admitting that you just lie about your prices to get people to click and then what, you hope they don’t notice the $100 price jump? Also the person on chat told me the $263 price is actually the lower rate that comes without a refund guarantee if my plans change and I need to cancel, but if I want the fully refundable one it’s even more. So basically everything on the initial listing is just a big fat lie to get you to click, and that’s according to their own agent. Just wow..OmihekVersion: 23.16
Bad customer service. Buyer beware20 years ago, Expedia was great. Now I can get just as good of deals directly from the property or airline. Their customer service used to be amazing. Now it’s terrible. I bought an airline ticket home from a trip, one-way because I was leaving from a different destination than the one I arrived at. The airline changed the schedule, leaving me stranded at JFK airport (my final destination was RDU) because I would not be able to make the connecting flight after the schedule change. There was another flight to Raleigh that I could make, but the airline would have had to upgrade my ticket. So instead they said I could change or cancel my flight without restrictions. Before I did that, I contacted Expedia. After two weeks, the best they could do was reschedule the changed portion of my flights to the next day, requiring me to spend the night in a foreign airport. I canceled the flight, but no restrictions meant I now have flight credits that can only be used if my flight originates in the country I was originally flying from. Expedia could not help with my useless flight credits either. They said to contact the airline. The airline said to contact Expedia. I now have purchased two very expensive international flights because I can’t use the original flights. And the Expedia customer service that once (20 years ago) called me to make sure I was aware of a 30 minute change on the day of travel cannot do anything. They would not even find me a connection on another airline which was all I was asking for in the beginning..SwcopeVersion: 2025.27.1
Worst company I’ve ever dealt withWell I guess I should start in the beginning, booked a round trip flight to Warsaw poland from texas. Got the insurance just to be safe. Flight there was changed so to the airline having delays, no problem. Decided I needed to come home early and contacted them to change my flight to a earlier departure date. Bye about one month. After spending over a hour on the phone with them because the app would work, they told me it would be a additional $4000 for a flight home. Not a new location just a bit earlier flight. Needless to say I did not do that and was able to get a ticked through another app with only 4 days lead time ( same I gave Expedia) for $1100.
Now that I was home safe I contacted Expedia via oh as once again the app wouldn’t work.
Told the lady what happened and that I had the protection and I wanted to cancel my return flight that still was a month away. She said no prob and would calculate my refund. It would take 3-5 mins. 47 minutes later she gave me the info that I thought was unacceptable but it is what it is right. Confirmed and ended the call. I had a missed call 5 minutes later to tell me that she didn’t finish and I would have to call back again. So I’m writing this as I’ve been on home for yet another 37 minutes and have got nowhere.
I will never use Expedia again. Horrible customer service. It’s bad when I’ve had better customer service in a war zone.Iraqivet03Version: 22.16
Most dishonest company with terrible customer serviceIt wouldn’t allow me leave stars blank because they don’t even deserve 1 single star. It started with Covid forcing my family to cancel our trip to Costa Rica a few months ago with car, hotel and flights. This was not our fault but we were treated like it was. Now if you try make any changes or get any refunds or even rebook any trips they’ll keep you on the phone for hours...HOURS until you get so annoyed that you hang up. No agent speaks good English. Half the time the line will get disconnected and you’ll get out on hold or something. Then you’ll try to call back spend another hour and the next agent you can’t even understand, will know absolutely nothing about what you just spent hours talking to to the last agent about. They’ll put you on hold and ask you for your card multiple times but somehow you’ll get disconnected. You’ll do this a few times until you get sick of it and just give up. They’ll take your money and you’ll have accept it. I made the mistake of booking another flight and they kept changing my dates without my consent. I had to call and change my flight but they pulled the same dirty tricks. I got disconnected after spending TWO HOURS!!! and when I called back, my flight charges went up 75$ for no reason. I am done with this terrible customer service and a company taking advantage of good people during this time. I am also looking for others who may want to join in a class action lawsuit. Worst experience!I have used many travel sites before and never have I had such a negative experience. The car rental company, Mex, which Expedia gave a 4 star review (???) was the worst company I have ever dealt with. Every single person in line(at least 8) had an issue with the company and had to get a car from elsewhere. At least half of them were Expedia customers! Then, the number we were given to call was either disconnected, or not in working order at the time of our call. So there we were without a car, without our money, and no recourse! Horrible!!!! In my case, my rental car was scheduled for 5pm. Our flight landed at 4:30 pm and I called the company to get instructions on how to get to them and let them know we were on our way. They took my name and phone number and said the shuttle bus driver would call when he arrived at the airport. He never called but we got on the first shuttle going to Mex. The bus was full of people and we waited in line. By the time we got to the desk at 6:08pm, the agent told us the car had been cancelled because we were a “no show”!!!Expedia, I highly recommend you remove this company from your list of car rental options! Not one person in line with us got their rental. We went to another car rental company across the street but they only had certain cars at nearly triple the cost! The agent was very nice and understanding since she watches this happen to people all day long! As I am writing this 12 hours later, I am still unable to contact Expedia to resolve this while I am supposed to be on vacation!.Kriney1Version: 2024.5.1
DO NOT USE THIS APPDO NOT USE THIS APP! I have booked my flight through this app since I don’t have a way to book ticket outside US without a local phone number to register, the airline company send me an email saying my connecting flight was canceled, but they book me another flight that takes off while I still in my first flight. I called the airline company just to find out the flight got canceled is the last flight going out that day, and I have to stay overnight at the airport. So I decided to cancel all of it, and the agent told me they couldn’t cancel it from there end, due to lack of information by this app, it doesn’t show my passport number, they can’t add it on or anything, I have to contact whoever I booked my ticket from. So I went back to the Expedia app, I can’t cancel nor change my booking due to Technical issues? The app says that I need to update this app, but in App Store no update option there at all, and it has already took my money. So I paid 300 some for nothing. Customer service doesn’t want to answer, after 2 hours of on hold, the agent tells me, “I have been put on hold by the airline company’s customer service ”and saying she will give me a call back because they are off work now. It’s day time at that airline company’s country, what are you talking about? Then, she never called me back. This company is a joke. REFUSES TO CALL TO CONFIRM REFUNDThis was my 2nd time using Expedia. I was given a refund via the hotel due to roach infestation. They refuse to call the hotel to confirm the refund because they want to keep the refund themselves. Shows ‘refunded’ in the hotels side. Was even given a coupon for another night at the hotel BY THE HOTEL, yet nothing from Expedia. I wonder why. Was on hold 40 minutes and the ‘system’ hung up on me. Agents just ignore you until you’re angry hoping you’ll hang up on them so they don’t have to do their job
First time using Expedia I asked if they could add my boyfriend to the reservation so we both would be on the room. The agent said she did. I get to the hotel very late as my flight was delayed hours. 3 AM and I’m told by the hotel I can’t check in because my name is not on the reservation. Excuse me?! My email, my card number, my MONEY for this room. The incompetent agent at Expedia REMOVED my name and put just my boyfriends. He isn’t answering because it’s 3 AM and he’s asleep. I HAD TO SLEEP IN A PARK UNDER THE SLIDE ON THE GROUND!!!! Expedia told me their terms and conditions were only one name allowed in the reservation. Okay? So why wasn’t I told that and why was his name just not added to the notes?! All they offered me was a $25 coupon which I used for the 2nd hotel which I was supposed to be refunded for. They are scam artists and I have reported them as fraud to my credit card. I document and record all calls from both Expedia and the hotel..You’re going down, ExpediaVersion: 23.2
HORRIBLE DO NOT RISK MONEY HEREDo not use Expedia or any of theses car rentals or the ap at all!!! they are a SCAM!! , I rented a car for two days due to having my car taken to the mechanic shop and that was almost about 100$ considering the car per day was 14$ and I only got it for two days!, I went to pick the car up and the guy up front told me my ID wasn’t going through have in mind my ID is good for three/ two years so I don’t see why it didn’t go through , he said to call Expedia and contact the company to get a refund because he wasn’t going to be able to release the car to me and so I did . I contacted them for almost a whole week and they wasted my time , I asked for a refund multiple times and I wasn’t given one or anything at all like a coupon or anything , they didn’t even seem sorry at all which means this has happened to others way too many times already , as a student that works and studies I see that this is clearly a scam, I live paycheck to paycheck for my food and my studies and this is clearly not fair to me because of the issues the company had, I spend hours working for my money just so people and companies like this steal it , I repeat DO NOT RENT OR USE THIS COMPANY AT ALL. They will steal your money. Besides the big fees they add and taxes double up it’s a lot more money you’re wasting and your time ,DO NOT USE THIS APP OR PURCHASE ANYTHING HERE. To this day they have not wanted to give me a refund and the company keeps denying it have in mind I DID NOT RECEIVE ANYTHING IN RETURN..VxxtiVersion: 23.16
Done with themWe have booked tons of trips through Expedia. Tons! Between my fiancé and myself. We actually were getting ready to plan two more in October and December through them but never again will that happen. We booked a trip to Tinley Park IL to see a band. We chose non refundable because first of all my fiancé had driven 800 miles to see this band and considering the were so much closer this time we were not missing it. Also, so many of our friends are fans that if an emergency came up and we couldn’t make it our friends would happily buy the trip from us. Well, last week I get an email. The concert is cancelled. We were devastated. We would never go to Tinley Park IL for any other reason. But I figured there had to be some way around losing all this money for the room because there was no way we were going to waste money spending a weekend in this city for no reason now. So I reached out to Expedia. They claimed they called the hotel but the manager declined. That wasn’t true. The hotel actually told me since I booked through Expedia it’s as simple as them agreeing to cancel but good luck because they deal with this weekly. So I thought maybe if I ask to just still use Expedia but ask if I could book another hotel in an actual city we would like to visit even if it meant it was more expensive maybe they would go for that. No. Basically it’s a cut and dry, they do not care what your situation is or even care to hear your recommendation it’s just not happening. No more Expedia for us..Jbs8690Version: 18.29
Long time Expedia VIP - not planning on using againI have used Expedia for dozens of trips over the years and have a large future trip booked which I will keep due to penalties, but will likely not book through them again. Online airline check in is challenging and if there are issues, there is no support. The VIP perks you are supposed to receive at properties often are not verified and you are charged for items that should be free upgrades. I have had multiple issues with transportation and excursions that I have booked through the app as well. As long as you have a single booking and everything goes smoothly, Expedia offers a great way to estimate pricing and compare options but beware that if you book through them and any little thing goes awry, they are very unhelpful. It takes a long time to interact with a virtual agent - not AI - who can actually assist and their answer always seems to be that the issue is with the travel provider and not Expedia. While that may be the case, I paid and booked through Expedia and expect them to resolve as much as possible and stand behind their travel partners as reputable establishments, or else cut ties with them. Very disappointed and will start using other options moving forward. My travel budget annually is approximately $20k US so I am happy to give another booking platform my business..Nerdgirl48Version: 2024.25
Canceled flight without warningSo we booked a package deal with flights and hotel stay, the booking online was easy- the day of the flight I got a notification “copy confirmation number “ to check in. And go to the airline, well I tried to copy the confirmation number and i wasn’t able to because at the bottom of their website was a spinning blue circle, once we arrived at the airport, I should the employee my flight information from Expedia, only to be told by the airline employee that they couldn’t find my confirmation number and to go to their customer service desk, well by the time we got to the customer service desk, I was told now that we have to see another agent, we did, only to be told after they found the information that we now have missed out flight by 10 minutes, I spoke with the manager and she told me to call Expedia- to rebook for a later flight- when I called Expedia- the rep was not helpful at all- and put me on hold many times- she came back to tell me that I was a no show- that is a COMPLETE LIE ! Then I get a notification from Expedia cancelling my return flight without permission from me- this is where the company is unethical- so I called them back to be told that Expedia wouldn’t modify my return flight- nor Credit my flight- nor refund my return flight. I have done Eve I can to make sure that other consumers aware, I’ve written negative reviews- written a review on the better business bureau. I’m totally disappointed with this lack of communication and customer service- but they got paid, along with the airline, ripped off!.Zoja HVersion: 22.31
Left me hangingSo, I booked a hotel in advance, two queens non smoking. Tried going to the hotel at 1pm and they wouldn’t let me get in early. So I left and had things to do. Arrived at 920 pm. The hotel did not have any of the rooms I booked available and would not refund. I messaged Expedia 27 min wait to chat to an online thing. It’s late l. The hotel had one king with a pullout. I have two teenagers, one girl one boy and myself. Not ideal, I agree because it’s late. Well the door of new room will not open. Multiple back and forth later to the room and back, and the hotel guy tried to shoulder his way into the room and the door still won’t open. It’s the literal last room and won’t open. Then Expedia won’t just refund it’s delayed. I have upset kids and I can’t even search on the phone because it will close the browser. They finally refund land don’t offer to make anything right. And I had 3 different agents because they kept leaving the chat!!!! Just refunded your account at 1030 pm on a Saturday night. No offer of another hotel, no credit! So I found my own hotel! I’m furious! And have two upset kids and we are just here for a soccer tournament!
Moral is to never ever pay the hotel ahead of time as it’s hard to get money back and two call the hotel to make sure what you booked is actually secure. And three they don’t care about you as a customer and if there are issues you are on your own!.Hailz39999Version: 2024.44
Falsely advertisingI booked a room through Expedia which advertised a jacuzzi in the room. When I get to the room there was no jacuzzi….the front desk and Expedia agents were talking to me like I was crazy. Like I didn’t see a jacuzzi when I was booking. A Expedia agent (Pari D) requested I send her screenshots of the false advertisement and I did and showed her proof that a jacuzzi picture was definitely advertised for the room I booked. I stated all the rooms did not have a jacuzzi picture and I specifically clicked on the one with the jacuzzi…with proof and evidence that the room was falsely advertised with a jacuzzi , the Expedia agent (Pari D) was still talking to me like I’m lying or crazy she kept trying to look over the false advertisement. She stated she was looking and didn’t see what I was talking about. When I sent her screenshots she stated she doesn’t see a jacuzzi and it was definitely one in the picture I sent her…not only that when I was booking there was a full picture of the jacuzzi…...She actually ended the chat without a resolution. I am disappointed with my experience. I had to travel here for work and I was supposed to be stay at the hotel for 4 days ….this is truly an inconvenience and the Expedia agents was inconsiderate to the situation. This is an inconvenience for me the customer. I understand my problems is not the agents , all she has to do is clock out and go home while I’m stuck figuring out how I got cheated…...LittyYahVersion: 2025.29
Beware, Customer Service Severely LackingWe stayed a hotel in Orlando that had good reviews on Expedia. Upon our stay we discovered that the property was disgusting. There were 2 sinks in our room. Both sinks in the room would fill up with water and then would take a few hours to drain. We knew this was a cheap option and didn’t expect it to be great by any means. We can deal with slow plumbing, dirty walls, and cracked ceilings that this hotel had, but when we started finding cockroaches…that’s unsanitary and completely unacceptable for any hotel! The staff were not helpful at the hotel directing our complaints to Expedia. When trying to contact Expedia, it’s extremely difficult to get a human either in the chat or via phone to speak with directly instead of a bot. Once we got a person to speak with, it was several days before we got a follow up on the status of a potential refund/partial refund for this stay. The property never responded to Expedia so they couldn’t authorize any refunds. Expedia said they could not process a refund because of the property and the property said they could not process a refund because of Expedia. Expedia offered a $25 USD OneKeyCash credit for the inconvenience and I told them that I accept this offer if that was all they could do. They didn’t not provide the credit after following up to the email 4 times asking for updates over the span of 8 days. Long story short if you have a poor experience with any of your bookings, this is not a site that cares enough to remedy your problem. Just keep this in mind. Buyer beware when booking..HamSammy1492Version: 2025.2.1
Took our moneyOne year ago, my husband and I took a 4-day trip to Savannah, GA. We flew to Atlanta, where we’d planned to rent a car and drive to our reserved AirBnb in Savannah. Complications arose with our rental car reservation because I’d made the reservation in my name, but wasn’t allowed to pay with a credit card in my husband’s name. As we’d historically made reservations through travel apps, we hadn’t realized there’d be a problem. So we canceled and were refunded our reservation payment from Kayak, and since the credit card couldn’t be used via Kayak’s policy, we then made a reservation via Expedia for immediate use, paying a down payment of $376.
Well. When we tried to get a vehicle, the rental counter wouldn’t rent a car to us because my husband’s plastic drivers license was broken in half and taped together. We were frustrated by this time because we’d been trying to secure a vehicle for 4 hours, and most of the other rental companies had no available cars left to rent out for the night. We then tried to get refunded our $376 in order to be able to try another company, but Expedia kept our money because it was after the time the reservation was set for. WE HAD MADE AN IMMEDIATE RESERVATION! Despite two hours trying to reason with someone, we never got our money back. Expedia is a SCAM. They stole $376 of our vacation money and left us stranded for the night.

Forget you Expedia! This God awful company will lie to you. Give you false information and transfer you around just to get you off the phone. Our room ended up getting downgraded to an issue Expedia caused overbooking. They offered us a really enticing discount to accept the downgrade. We were told the difference would be processed in a few days. 10 days pass so we call to see the hold up. Every agent gave us a different (easily debunked) answer. First we “checked in early” and that’s why we got downgraded, then “the hotel never authorized it”, then “they won’t pick up when we call”. I got ahold of the hotel in 5 mins and explained the situation. Not only did they tell me nothing Expedia said was true but they also provided me documentation showing that they approved the refund. I was on hold for 20 mins waiting for the Expedia representative to call the hotel just for them to come back and tell me “yeah there’s nothing we can do the hotel is refusing the discount” I put the rep on hold to call the hotel myself. As soon as the manager introduced herself the Expedia rep disconnected the call. I told the hotel my story and THEY were the ones to call Expedia on my behalf and get me my refund even though they already followed the process set forth by that god awful company. Expedia and everyone that works for them are all liars and crooks, and they are quick to take your money but not so quick to accept responsibility on a mistake they make. My wife and I will NEVER use their business again and we are going to share this story with everyone that will listen!.RichardC313Version: 2025.3
Super 6 motel plantation parkwayThis is my second time ever using Expedia. The first time was wonderful with zero problems. This time though, I booked a room through Expedia at the super 6 motel on plantation parkway and it said my total was $76, which I paid , booked the room, and got a copy of my receipt emailed to me. Once we arrived at this motel, if that is what you would call it, we were told that we could not enter the room until 4:00 pm. We arrived there at approximately 1:00pm. The desk clerk continued to tell us , after our Uber left, that we would not be allowed to wait inside, neither were we allowed to have our suitcases sitting outside. So after we moved our luggage in the ditch and sat outside for a little more than an hour 95 degree heat, one of the desk clerks then told us that for an additional $25 we would be able to check into our room early. I didn’t think this was right but after our clothes were drenched in sweat I agreed. Then once I paid the $25 dollars they continued to go on and inform us that we would also have to give them another $50 deposit before we could enter the room. So what Expedia informed us that our total would be $76 , had now turned into a $138 1 bed, dirty room. And also on our receipt the early entry fee and our deposit which equaled an additional $75 is labeled “MISC.” I could not be more upset and felt taken advantage of. If a civilian was to do this to another civilian, there would probably be some sort of criminal charges filed. But I guess it’s ok for businesses to do this to there customers..Slinginwood251Version: 2024.31.1
Expedia does not stand behind their supposed guaranteesBooked our flight and car through Expedia for our upcoming Florida trip. Even though it clearly says on their website that if flights change more than 3 hours they would allow you to either cancel or change flight at no cost. When I called to change our flight to an earlier flight because we didn’t want to get to Orlando at 9pm, when we were originally supposed to get there at 4:30, the representative lied to me and told me it would cost $100 per person to change our flights or cancel because it hadn’t changed more than 3 hours. On May 27th it definitely changed more than 3 hours. When I got frustrated and told him I wanted to cancel the flight and rental car, even though I it would cost $100 per ticket he told me I would have to call Jet blue to cancel. He kept putting me on hold I believe pretending he was trying to accommodate me. He just kept coming back and saying sorry there’s nothing I can do. I called jet blue directly and the representative told me the date that it changed more than 3 hours and that Expedia was responsible for accommodating us for the inconvenience. She said I could call them back and point it out or I could pay jet blue $150 for them to take over our tickets. I opted to have jet blue take them over. From now on I will go directly through the airline and the car rental company..Electric Shock 123Version: 2025.23
App cancelled $3,000 reservation, no refundI use Expedia pretty often, about once a month on average. I’m in a long-distance marriage because of my military deployment schedule. This month, my wife and I were finally going on our long overdue honeymoon (6 years), but the DoD has put out travel restrictions that would allow that to happen. So I went on the Expedia app to cancel/change my reservation. I managed to cancel my flights, but I didn’t cancel my hotel because there was no refund option or an option to change my reservation.
At that point I was okay with just canceling my flight and contacting Expedia to see what I could do about my hotel reservation. But as get off the app and am about to make the call to Expedia, I receive multiple emails regarding my cancellations. To my surprise, the hotel was also cancelled. This was a $3,000 resort in Aruba. I proceed to call customer service, and waited on hold for over an hour, then the call just dropped out of nowhere. Luckily, I went online earlier to schedule Expedia customer service to call me. When they did, I could hardly communicate with the agent because it seemed as if English was not their native language. The agent proceeded to transfer me to another person to help then they hung up on me.
I cannot afford another $3,000 for a vacation and now I cannot take my wife on the honeymoon I promised her. This will definitely be the last time I use Expedia or any of its sister companies..HurryUpRalphVersion: 20.11
They didn’t own their mistakeHere is my story hoping that we can share it with the public the people get aware of what has happened aiming that nobody will go through what I have been through.
i booked a flight from Calgary to Lebanon on 4 August for a month after being almost 6 years away from my family . the main reason was to introduce my daughter who is 4 years old who was born in Canada to my family who didn't get to meet her in person. and the other reason that made me take that decision in spite of the unlivable situation in Syria is to see my siblings maybe for the last time on the land of Syria who are evacuating the country because of the economic crises in the country. so in long story short, it was our last meeting as a family in Syria until who knows when.
i booked my flight through Expedia as a travel agent and here where the headache has started, after booking my flight for an affordable price and with a very convenient route, the airlines changed my flight to a very long inconvenient one 1 week before my trip. so i had to call Expedia assuming they would solve it for me and that is what they said after being on the line for 5 hours and after delaying my original booking for 2 days for a better flight they made me believe the issue was solved.
I went to the airport on the 4 of August but they didn't allow us to fly because the tickets were not issued. i called Expedia and they denied that they made a mistake and they made me make calls back and forth spending a full day talking to them and to emirates airlines who booked me an alternative trip which was the one I refused when they made the change. Expedia was able to call the airlines directly preventing me from going through these back and forth phone calls since I'm a single mom of my 4 years old daughter. my baby had to go through this waiting time with me and through all that frustration. i accepted the replaced trip on 6 of august based on what Expedia promised to open an investigation and get back to me. i never heard from them and I went to Syria and came back. and I will list all the problems that Expedia caused:
I had to redo the PCR test because I missed the first flight
I had to take a cab from the airport to come back home when I missed my flight. I had to do a night stay in LOS Angelos because the layoff of the return trip was 30 hours.
I had to take 2 cabs from and to the airport in the US.
I had to check out my bags in LAX and carry them to the bus with my Daughter to go to the taxi area at the airport.
the shameful part is that Expedia offered me $50 as compensation and later when I declined that they offer me a voucher to book a hotel just as an enforcement step to make me deal with them again..EnyaProVersion: 21.41
Can they cheat us this way??So I’m trying to book a car, mid sized SUV for my travel in May. I was online on my laptop, a mid sized SUV is 184$ and I was like it’s okay price for couple of days and I clicked the RESERVE button and wallah!! Immediately the next webpage popped up saying “the price gone up to 250$, the prices change often so lock this price right now”. I was like what the hell?! For the past 2 days the price stayed at 184$ and all of a sudden how can it change? Anyways, I tried to refresh the page to see may be I will get lucky, nothing changed! I tried again.. and later after an hour I realized there were three pending charges of 184$ from Expedia! I was literally in shock and there was no email saying I got the car reservation, omg! All night I couldn’t sleep. Next morning the same, no email and the charges are still showing and finally in the evening the charge disappeared from the account, thank good ness. Never have I ever experienced such stress! Oh, if you guys thinking why didn’t I contacted some one, yes I tried it always goes to virtual assistance AI to answer. After a year and a half no answer on a car rental dispute in mexicoAfter endless phone calls (with promised of this being resolved in 48 hrs) online chats, emails (never returned) and anything else i could do to talk to a human who would not ‘pass the buck’….i am here. A negative review is the very least i could say.
I have ALL the evidence, saved screen shots with expedia employees and when finally i was able to find an email address, i sent a message asking to send all my evidence in on paper. No response..this saddens me. At first it was Covid that was the excuse, now i see it as just down right poor customer service.
After this i go to the media. We have a great news channel that specifically has a news caster who deals with these types of issues where the customer is being scammed. Fox Car rental should also be named here, they are also to blame.
DO NOT RENT A CAR IN MEXICO #1 and NEVER THROUGH FOX CAR RENTAL AND DONT TRY AND BACK IT UP BY DOING IT THROUGH EXPEDIA FOR EXTRA PROTECTION AND TRANSPARENCY BECAUSE THEY DON’T CARE!!!! Terrible customer serviceWe booked a hotel room through phone call and when we got the bill via email, we saw that they have charged us more than 20% for tax (when they charge 11% on the Expedia App) PLUS $14.99 for reservation fee (which the hotel said they never charge people for that). I Called the customer service 3 times and at the end they only waved the reservation fee which they shouldn’t have charged us in the first place and they didn’t. Gold Member Customer - AvoidA 5 month nightmare. Had to cancel our Europe trip due to covid. Bookings.com, Airbnb and Hotels.com took care of all cancellations within 1 singular call and in Airbnb’s case no call just full reimbursements
- I am over 30 phones calls in, countless days and night of hold and call time, including missing days of work, I am over 80 emails in and as of 30 minutes ago finally out and end to this stress mess created by you.
- I was lied to(given false information) by Expedia numerous times. Had agents contradict themselves over and over.
- I’ve had agents tell me they cannot do something such as call hotels/airlines then hang up and call back 10 minutes later to have the next agent call these hotels and airlines
- Promised vouchers that I did not receive but given a $50 credit for the headache. Thanks that covers a lot....absolute joke
- Had 2 managers hang up on me mid conversation, not disconnect, actually hang the phone up on me. Note no swear words or threats were made. 1 of these occurred last night - I was hung up on while on speaker with my 60 yr old parents listening and spouse. My spouse has video footage which she will be sharing to social media.
- I was told countless times Expedia would call me back or be returning my emails once they got answers. Not once did I receive a call back, and emails I had to follow up on in order for them to respond. I had the hotels following up with me personally before Expedia.
- the first month after numerous attempts none of my requests were even processed. I finally got a supervisor on the phone who handled a good portion of the mess and was completely blown away how nothing was handled prior. Apologized over and over.
- Now to cap it off my last reservation was a travel credit through air Canada, I followed Expedia’s step by step process on how to use this travel credit which I planned to do yesterday. I sent them the exact itinerary of what I wanted to book for less than the travel voucher but Expedia insisted I had to pay over $1000 to secure this booking so after 14 hours of calls/emails to both air Canada and Expedia - it was air Canada who confirmed Expedia is in fact not booking the itinerary you requested they are booking you in premium Economy. Everything Expedia told me about air Canada was not true. I tell Expedia this and they still tell me there is no economy seats available. BUT I CAN BOOK THIS ECONOMY SEAT THROUGH THEIR EXPEDIA WEBSITE as well as multiple other booking platforms but no Expedia stated there ticketing is what’s accurate. AIR CANADA AGAIN CONFIRMED THIS WAS IN FACT NOT TRUE. So 2 supervisors and 3 agents tell me this seat is not available when it %100 is! I can’t book it on my own dime right this second. So then I change the travel plans to accommodate Expedia and then they tell me this credit does not cover airport taxes and I will also have to pay another tax on top of this so again I am out hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Expedia insists there is nothing they can do and I am out of luck. So I again call air Canada and I actually had the air Canada agent laughing at how incompetent YOUR team is. So she had me record a step by step process to play to your agents on how to process me a AIR CANADA TRAVEL VOUCHER which she said all the staff at Expedia should know and should have offered you. THIS WILL ELIMINATE ALL FEES and allow me to use my full credit as I see fit. I had multiple Expedia employees tell me there was nothing they can do and I have to eat the cost. So if I would have shut my mouth my parents would be out 1000’s of dollars on Christmas Eve. So I call Expedia back and they process my parents the A.C.T.V. is less than 3 minutes. Expedia is now cut out of the equations.
The incompetence, lack of communication and disrespect your team has shown is truly disgusting. I am a gold member, I have never in my life gone out of my way to write a bad review for anyone so this is a first. I will never in my life book another trip through you again, nor will anyone in my family and be sure to share these stories everywhere I can. You have screwed me and my family over and over again.

Poor customer support when it mattersPlatinum tier user. Accidentally booked the wrong year on a non-refundable hotel for two nights. For some reason the search defaults to 2026 and order review section on the app (at the time) had stated the day and month only and never the year. Now it’s updated and will now state the year. I messaged and called Expedia immediately to change the year of travel. Absolutely no concessions from Expedia about this mistake even though I’ve been a loyal customer for +15 years. The total cost of the hotel is probably 0.1% of the total revenue I’ve given them too. Called the hotel and they were okay with the date change, but Expedia for some reason could not get a hold of the hotel for this verbal confirmation. I later found out a massive storm hit the hotel and its city. The area had severe flooding on the streets and probably why they would no longer pick up calls. Expedia has now stopped with their messages. I never really message help centres but the one time in many years this happens. So much benefits for being a loyal customer. Booking.com apparently has more lenient refund or change policies on “non-refundables”. Very similar reward systems too..JohnLegaspiVersion: 2025.41
I was charged more than Expedia qotedI booked a hotel for September, back in June on line through Expedia. The confirmation price was $471.47 to be paid at the hotel. I called the number on the confirmation the day of check in to let them know I would be checking in around 3pm and asked the person to confirm the price was correct, which they did. Upon check in, the desk clerk said she had a different itinerary number and price, than what I gave her? I showed her my confirmation on my phone and she proceeded to check us in. I said $471.47 was confirmed and she checked us in. Parking was extra $39.99 plus tax. I said ok.
Next morning upon check out, I was presented with a bill for $582.10?
I questioned the amount and she first said it was an amenities fee. Then she said Expedia had quoted the wrong price. They put through the charges on my credit card anyway.
She also claimed that a third party made the booking wrong? I found out later that Hotel Planner was the third party.
Since then I have spoken to the hotel, Expedia and Hotel Planner, each a multitude of times. Sent numerous emails to all. Not once was I allowed to speak with a manager at any of the three parties. The different reasons for the extra billing exceeds 6?
Never, never ever again will I use Expedia again.
This was a blatant violation and abuse of my credit. Customer service was terrible and I was lied to multiple times.

BewarePlease please please beware when using this app. I recently booked a car rental in Canadian dollars and “somehow” it switched to saying I booked using US website and charged me in US currency. I’m out 220$ with ZERO help from Expedia. Honestly not worth the risk..LeeannJenniferVersion: 2023.45
No point in using this appRates are lower on average when you book through the hotels websites.
Expedia doesn’t help you if you book a hotel that turns out to be horrible. Just a sorry can’t help.
