Returning! Just an expensive picture frame for us and a useless calendar!I’m not typically a fan of digital picture frames and I bought this as a family organizer as a Christmas gift to myself and it’s become nothing more than an overpriced digital picture frame sadly that will require a subscription when the included one expires. I bought this after many months of debating to organize our family, make to-do lists for the family etc. So far, my husband and my daughter both don’t bother with it so it leaves me as the only person using it - that’s fine. When they want to know anything they just ask me. I input stuff under their profile but they don’t get any notifications despite having access to it on their phones. This should be a basic feature, especially since it ask you which family member to add it under. I did like adding things to my Skylight calendar by taking a screenshot, however I do this and then I have to upload each event a 2nd time to my phone calendar so that feature became useless. I had expected Skylight would become the only calendar I use but it turns out you still need your phone calendars since skylight lacks in features. Things I put in my phone calendars go directly on Skylight but anything I input on Skylight does not go on my calendar. I always put 2 reminders on my phone calendar, 1 for a day before the event and 1 again for an hour or 2 before depending on how far. I ended up missing events I had put only in Skylight because it doesn’t have this feature, only for all events to notify you once and you have to get the same alert for all events. If I pick to be notified a day before events then I’ll miss stuff on the day if I loose track of time and if I pick to be notified only an hour before all events I won’t have enough time to get ready for some if I forgot about them and had to prepare something ahead of time. I just stopped using it as a calendar since my phone calendar works better and no one at my house looks at the calendar on this picture frame anyway and I have everything in my phone so it’s pointless for me to look on a bigger screen. I ended up starting to like this digital picture frame on the counter but I can’t justify keeping it at $400 and $130/year which is likely to increase without using the calendar and to-go list/task portion of it. My family would have used it if they would have received notifications for stuff put under their names but they won’t check it several times a day just to see if something was added for them. Too expensiveAfter spending over $330 on the screen, skylight charges $60/year to manage the photos you add to the system. Honestly don’t waste your money. Can’t import from Apple photos to desktop appAlthough it’s advertised for iOS phone and iPad, there is a desktop app available through the Apple App Store. It’s clumsy and wonky and won’t let you drag and drop from Apple photos to Skylight, or import to Skylight from Apple photos. Hardware you own, features you rent.Skylight openly lists photo screensaver mode as a “premium” subscription feature. Read that again, displaying your own photos on the device screen you already purchased requires an ongoing subscription.
Not an advanced feature. Just basic photo display functionality on a device built around a large screen.
