Dota Underlords App Comments & Reviews

Dota Underlords Positive Reviews

Challenging but funI’ve seen a lot of one star reviews saying that it’s impossible to complete alliances or get three star heroes. The game is fairly easy to pick up and play but takes some time to learn its mechanics like gold economy, shared hero pool, leveling without waste, builds, positioning and item min/maxing. I’ve only put about 40 hours into the game so far, but like most competitive games out there it takes time to learn the strategies and make them work, but with time it becomes easy to build up the alliances you need or bring units to three stars. The game has a great UI (much better than most other auto chess games out there) that really does a good job giving you the important info you need to know quickly while you are trying to buy new units between rounds. It’s also got a nice reward structure that makes it good to keep playing and building up new boards, banners, emotes, and win streak flames. My only couple of gripes are that the meta is in flux all the time (which is understandable because it’s in beta) as they are trying to work on the balance. It also runs at a slower pace with lots of down time between rounds, rather than the quicker stride that some auto chess battlers like Teamfight Tactics has..Version: 1.0.12

Please fix itDear Developer Team First of all, I would like to thanks the team who work extremely hard to bring us this big update that every player is looking for. But unfortunately, things didn’t go smoothly for this update. While we are all joyful for the update, with lots of thing to test out and learn, many of us has agreed that there are too many critical issues related to the game. These issues range from new item errors, new health bar that’s too big, heroes avatar, UI, mobile optimization, and many more. Personally, I think the old design really help the game express its uniqueness, so for the big update to work, it can just put on top of the old design, but that’s my own opinion about it. I rarely write a game review, but I hope you take this review seriously, work through the game carefully, and fix the issues that affect the players. We don’t want to rush you guys to bring out the big update, but we want that every big update is improving the player’s experience, not making them want to leave the game. I give 4 out of 5 stars as an encouragement for your effort, hope you can fix these issues soon!.Version: 1.0.273

Too smallAfter trying all of the auto chess games I could find this one is definitely the deepest. Played for weeks and still feel like I have barely scratched the surface. All the people complaining about not being able to finish alliances and level up characters don’t know how the game works. It’s a shared hero pool. So for instance if you and two other people have omniknight it’s going to be hard to get more because there’s a limited number split three ways. You have to check what other people are using and adjust accordingly. You can’t decide on a strategy before the game starts or even early on. You have to roll with what you get. This is my favorite auto chess game on mobile (until Teamfight Tactics arrives) but since I have to play on an iPad it gets less play time than it otherwise would. I end up playing more Chess Rush just because I can actually see what’s happening in that game. And yes I have 20/20 vision. It’s just way too small. Tl;dr 5 stars on iPad, 3 on iPhone because it’s too small to see what’s going on..Version: 1.0.352

Love this on PC and mobileIt's amazing how well this game was designed for mobile as well as PC. They function identically, all the buttons and actions are in the same places, the only thing you miss out on is hot keys but thankfully the UI is simple enough to understand. The graphics are great although I did experience significant frame drops on my iPhone X in later rounds when there's 20 characters on the screen. It actually made it more difficult to strategize and complete my actions due to the slowdown, which is why I had to knock off a star. Valve can certainly update the game to run better in the future of course, in fact I saw improvements in this latest patch. Overall, I recommend this to anyone who has a passing interest in auto chess..Version: 1.0.1

Best mobile game and great game in generalHad to delete it, there isn’t enough time in my schedule and it is addicting. Still, I would have loved playing this daily if I had the time so I will live vicariously through you. There is a large learning curve, but it is worth the effort as you will find a complex strategy game with near infinite replay-ability. It is not really possible to exploit combos as you get different hero choices each game/battle and have to roll with it on the fly. For beginners: you can play an untimed tutorial, and after that against AI until you figure things out. The game also lets you watch other players in your game, including after you lose (you can continue to spectate). Tip: pay attention to the hero’s clans (each has 2-3) and the synergy... if you don’t, you won’t have a chance at 1st place, after the first few ranks..Version: 1.0.2

Solid game, unique styleI’m an old man that’s been gaming since Pong. In my life time I’ve seen the birth of first person shooters, RPGs, MORPs and every other genre imaginable. I’ve witnessed the death of the mall arcade and watched as consoles became more powerful gaming machines than desktop computers. Thought I’d seen it all... and then I downloaded this little gem! No pay to play! Have not spent a dime and been playing this now for weeks. I have not tried it yet against other peeps and still just enjoy fine tuning my strategies against the computer. It’s different. It’s free. I’ve enjoyed it. It takes time to learn and I’m sure I’m not even close to perfecting it. If you want some brainless swiping game or something to spend tons of cash on to make yourself feel good about yourself, this is not the game for you..Version: 1.0.313

Great game. Extremely laggyI really like this game, especially in Knockout mode since I don’t want to waste 30-45 min to play just one single match. I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, a phone with a pretty fast processor, perfect for games. However, this game lags beyond playable state after I play 1-2 matches. Then everything becomes so laggy, you can’t even understand what’s going on in the game. On top of this, the phone heats up SO much. I’ve never seen ANY other application heat up my phone to this level. It becomes burning hot to the point where I can barely hold it in my hands. As soon as I quit the game, the phone quickly cools off. Once again, I’ve never seen any other games (and some of them had more graphics than Dota Underlords) lay my phone so much. It’s simply ridiculous. The game becomes impossible to play. If they fix this issue, I’ll change my rating to 5-star..Version: 1.0.355

The excitement of an old dota playerWhere do i start about this game, from the graphics, to the gameplay, to the gambler way that it provides. The game sometimes glitches when a unit is upgraded and it messed up my rythem a couple of times, but overall experience is great always updating the characters and changing alliances; to keep the game competitive and pleasurable for all. The different effects that are provided with leveling up your profile are amazing, and im excited to what the effect will be past level 25. I recommend this game for all dota fanatics. Life got really busy and i cant play a dota game anymore but i can always find time to play a game or two of dota underlords, that bring my dota competitive feeling back..Version: 1.0.257

Great so farI absolutely love this game, any game with casual drafts is good for me, but to be able to play on my phone is excellent. The UI feels good on my *small* iPhone SE, the games shared pool makes it less RNG than you may think, and regular updates prevent any one alliance from being too dominant (although I haven’t payed too much attention to the meta). The only complaints I have are issues that will be fixed with the full release, like of art for 2 and 3 star characters, getting any non-common 3 star is too difficult and far from worthwhile, and my battery drops with this game, but besides that, I love this game, and it’s nice to see Valve expanding their horizons to mobile..Version: 1.0.13

Ahhh heck yesI don’t often write reviews, but THIS has quickly become my new favorite mobile game. It’s quite simple to get into, unlike maybe something like League, but offers a great blend of luck, intuition, and skill-play that makes it amazing to jump right in and feel you have a chance against other slightly more experienced players. This game uses the resource of time in a unique way, as there are multiple avenues to use your coins during a game phase. That is the mark of great game design, where the avenues to victory are multiple but the optimal choice is unclear. Good on Valve for taking the quick leap into mobile and I hope this genre stays true to the formula that established without veering off into the directions of character bloat or pay-to-win. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this genre and I hope that Valve can lead the charge with this installation. Also, great job on the artistic direction and cohesiveness of UI/UX elements. Unlike many games in this general area of tactical games, this does not suffer from the overbearing FX bloat, so you always know what’s going on..Version: 1.0.1

Decent/Frustrating At TimesThe roll chance for a lot of the monsters is very low even for the lower tier variety. Which can make building your alliances very hard. It’s also very hard to see what build you are working towards. You have to constantly click around and read what you have and when you have a very low time limit it makes it almost impossible to look for guys you need and purchase them. As far as the concept of the game, the monsters, their abilities, cool downs, etc the game does very well. I think the roll chances, and ways to view your build or show what build you could work towards needs updated to help simplify the experience a bit considering the time limit. I’ll definitely keep playing. I just hope adjustments can be made..Version: 1.0.352

Valve’s Comeback: The Winner of the Autochess RaceAfter a huge blunder with Artifact, Valve has come back strong. The game is still in beta, but the updates are coming in fast and adding exactly what the community wants. I have never seen Valve receive feedback so attentively before. Autochess by Drodo is a legitimate rival, but it is backed by Epic. I personally choose not to support a company that pays off studios to unnecessarily make games exclusive to their platform. TFT’s UI looks awful, the game feels half-baked. It’s super rushed and the only good things coming in are stuff riot copies from Valve and Drodo. Plus Riot is a horrible company with multiple allegations of harassment and a terrible work environment. Not surprised their product is subpar..Version: 1.0.3

A Competitive DelightFor a person who personally loves competitive multiplayer, MOBAS, and strategy games , Underlords delivers! The learning curve is sort of steep, but ultimately rewarding once you have a full grasp on the mechanics. The biggest plus , for me , is the fact that the developers are CONSTANTLY updating the game: fixing bugs, updating UI , balance changes , etc. That dedication creates a feeling of assurance that this game is destined to be big and is worth playing through its open beta stage. Oh, and it’s cross-platform via Steam. So you can play on your mobile , or switch mid-game to your desktop ( iMac , in my case). Overall, my favorite game right now. Two big thumbs Up. 👍🏽👍🏽.Version: 1.0.352

Deep Strategy, Weak TutorialThe game feels pretty good. It plays easily enough and the basic concept is obvious; rank up units, get stronger, establish formations, etc. in hopes of winning. That much will take time to learn. Unfortunately the tutorial feels the need to play through an entire match which is is a little daunting and it explains very little as to how to succeed. It rather lets you play and explains only the basics; leaving out some things such as ranking up units, etc. 3 Star for it being a good, solid game. Lost stars for it being too unenjoyable up front due to lack of explanation in the tutorial and obvious unbalanced matchmaking. I realize I’m new and don’t have experience, but I’m playing against people who are having zero trouble with the game, having a consistent 50-60 gold..Version: 1.0.17

Love the game but crashes ruin itI’ve been playing this game for about 4 months on both mobile and desktop and I absolutely love the game. It’s the best in its genre by far. However, I’m not exactly sure what happened in the most recent updates, but now the game is unplayable due to crashes. I have the game on the lowest graphical settings and on 15 FPS (battery saver mode) and the game still drains my battery and overheats my phone, causing the app to crash, which can really mess up an entire game. The game has always been a battery drain but with the frequent crashing (every 2 min or less), the game is unplayable in its current form and I cannot recommend the mobile version until these issues are addressed..Version: 1.0.323

WowMore people should be playing this. The competition is always fair to your level. The updates are always frequent and actually noticeable improvements. With season 1 officially on the horizon, I’m extremely excited to see rank be a little harder and see how far I can go. All the characters are very well thought out in how they move and their abilities . The alliance bonus’ are awesome as well, there is many combinations to see what works best with what. Least favorite bonus is the scrappy though as it doesn’t change at all from your first level to the last. See you in White Spire!.Version: 1.0.273

Take the bad reviews with a grain of saltThis game is pretty fantastic and definitely fair. Players complaining about not being able to get 3 star units or alliances just haven’t quite figured it out. I am still learning but I have found that understanding the shared champion pool and understanding how to maximize gold will do wonders. Sure, sometimes I get 8th... somebody has to die first... but the game feels fair. Of course many changes will need to come as this game evolves over time. It’s currently in the very first preseason and that is acceptable/expected. I cannot wait to see what is to come as this game continues to improve :).Version: 1.0.15

Great game. More bugs than South Georgia.I really like this game. It’s got a diverse set of solid strategies and a lot of different game play options. Plus their seems to be a pretty massive following, so there is little waiting on multiplayer lobbies. It’s got a lot of bugs though and has a tendency to crash at really frustrating times. It seems like it’s still going through growing pains. They parch it up often which makes me think it’s still kind of a work in progress. But it’s a fun game, it’s not pay to win and it’s visually pretty appealing. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of strategy..Version: 1.0.402

Complicated but funThis is an “auto chess” game - a variant style of gameplay based off of a MOBA, originally DOTA 2. League of Legends has their own counterpart. This game design was originally developed for PC. Don’t expect it to be one of those pick up and play braindead mobile games. This game requires like a least a week of thinking and playing before it becomes braindead. But it’s fun the whole time. If you like strategy games that take some planning but with just the right amount of rng to screw you over or give you the win, and have some time to waste on your phone, then this is the ideal game for you..Version: 1.0.252

Probably one of the best mobile games to playAt least in my opinion. It’s not littered with micro transactions and GEMS. I play a lot of TFT but I find Underlords to be much more complex and therefore a lot more enjoyable. Every game feels more unique and there are plenty of compositions that you can piece together. The items and combinations are simultaneously more “simple” and straightforward but the ability to move them allows for an insane amount of flexibility with strategy. Anyway if you haven’t played an auto chess game before this one might be a little frustrating to learn at first but it’s fun..Version: 1.0.260

Well doneFirst review on the app store. Simply put. It's a great game, super addicting. Strategy steak with salt & pepper of RNG. Only reason for 4 stars is that it'll crash consistently because it takes a lot to process (hoping future patches fix this). However you can jump right back into matches after a brief reload, so, can't complain considering I spent $0 and they aren't trying to get you to spend money (something I'm confused with, how are they getting paid for this? There aren't even any ads). Anyway, people rating it low clearly have odd expectations so just download it since it's free and try it for yourself..Version: 1.0.3

Fun game, they’ve really made it awesomeI was skeptical of this game at first, it felt like it was all luck, but I just wasn’t using good strategy. Yes, there is luck involved, but it’s like poker, or a deck building game, where you have to know good strategy, understand the odds, and make good choices based on what is available. If you’re having a tough time, watch some streamers to get tips. Once you understand the basics and get a better idea of how to spend and save gold, when to level up, and so on, there is a lot of fun to be had and plenty of challenge..Version: 1.0.278

Great to go appI started playing this on the PC, and realized that there was a mobile option. What I like is the versatility of cross platform play. I’m able to start a match on the PC and if I have to leave the desk, I can close the client and resume the match on my phone within seconds. It works reverse also which is helpful when I have to charge my phone. Overall a great entry into the Auto-Chess world, with improvements coming every week, and the gameplay feels polished already. It’d help if we could see how far we are from the next rank though, but I’m sure it’s in the works. A must try for anyone who likes strategy games, and for DOTA fans, it’s even better. I barely played DOTA, but I thoroughly enjoy how this isn’t just based on strategy, it’s affected heavily by RNG. TLDR: 5/5 Gameplay Would recommend to a friend Over 30 hours played already.Version: 1.0.2

Rewarding learning curveThis is a ton of content, now that Season 1 has been released. I played through the beta and enjoyed it, but season 1 has revamped the alliances and the level tree. Some old heroes have been brought back, some recent heroes have been put to pasture (miss you, Tinker Buddies!). The learning curve for the game requires investment in your part. If you’re looking for something you’re going to pick up and crush, this might not be your thing. But the rewarding gameplay is there if you can learn the ropes..Version: 1.0.388

Great support from devsThis game is constantly getting updates, new mechanics added, devs are always trying out new ideas and stuff. its been awesome. the game is hard starting out, i recommend looking up some video guides and basic strategies and you’ll catch on and compete pretty quickly. The best part of all though really are the devs, they listen to feedback from the players and every couple weeks add another update that reflects what the players want, as well as introducing new mechanics to the game..Version: 1.0.244

Fun with issuesIt’s been enjoyable for the first few hours but soon you come across a multitude of visual bugs and connection issues resulting in non-reversible in-game actions due to accidental double-taps or suddenly appearing menus. While visually pleasing (thus battery draining) and tactically interesting, it still starts to feel rather luck-based after a while. Even when you learn hero synergies, gold management and think you did everything right, the random hero selection menu might just not be in your favor..Version: 1.0.14

Valve leads the way for mobile gaming. This game has been my pastime since early on in beta. It has revitalized my love for gaming. Valve has completely sh!* on pay to play gaming and I will be loyal to them for that simple fact. The communication with the player-base is remarkable. They listen and adapt constantly. They are transparent about every minor tweak and they immediately diagnose mistakes and fix them promptly. There is no gaming company out there right now doing it better. Valve leads the way and it will show in the years to come..Version: 1.0.402

New update is phenomenalLoving the newest patch! The game has a new feel to it and I love it! I can’t wait for the new battle pass. If it cost money I will be purchasing it as soon as it drops. I have put almost 350 hours into this game and it’s only the start. I enjoyed breaking the top 1,000 players in the game in the pre season and can’t wait to battle for it again in the coming seasons. Keep up the good work devs and don’t let this game die! I rely on playing daily for a stress relief from life..Version: 1.0.273

Keeping it shortIt's hard to put anything about an auto-battler into words. You purchase units with currency acquired during the match, and strategize about their placement and synergy. Even though that feels like a good summary of Underlords, I'm barely scratching the surface here. This game provides an addictive and fulfilling tactical experience, that is laid back enough that even a loss (and the learning that comes with it) doesn't hit too hard. Oh, and it's absolutely free, so why not try it out..Version: 1.0.2

Great concept, mechanics need some work.I enjoy playing this game however some of the mechanics are frustrating. One being the targeting. For the most part there appears to be absolutely no team synchronicity between characters and who they target. I did notice assassins will jump to the back line and take out whoever is there. But that’s about it. Completely inescapable AOE’s? cmon. What moron is gonna just stand there and take massive damage from something like that? Especially if they are aware that it was coming in the first place. Just my 2 cents, but would probably make for a better game..Version: 1.0.4

Interesting App Store PageI love that the screenshots look like the devs just finished making it work on localhost and took screenshots of the bots. It’s almost like they’re nervous or lacking time to fire up a match with enough test accounts with test names to make a fancy screenshot. It works, just doesn’t feel genuine. I like Dota 2’s Auto Chess, but do I like Dota AutoChess? Sure. It’s auto chess on mobile what more can you ask for, the devs even have their own Auto Chess but without Dota characters..Version: 1.0.20

Exquisite mobile game, well done ValveVery great feel and look as with most Valve titles. Spectacular balance of involvement and skill for a touch screen game. Food for the mind and the right amount of luck based situations. With a ranking system, new content and constant updates being unveiled near daily, I couldn’t ask for more in a free mobile game. Would be happy to buy skins and other in game content, let the freemium begin! Valve content is usually worth every penny 💵.Version: 1.0.16

Love the game, crashes on startupWas looking forward to the update, but the game crashed for me after trying to find a standard ranked match. The last thing I did was look at the ban list when it crashed (perhaps it had just matched me?). Now when I try to load the game (after exiting crashed version), it loads past the Valve logo and then flickers and crashes. Latest version at time of writing (290) running on iPhone 11 pro max..Version: 1.0.290

Fun but never connectsIt’s a fun game and an interesting concept, but it’s almost impossible for me to connect to Steam Sometimes I’ll be able to connect but most of the times I can’t. If you can you’ll probably enjoy the game but if you can’t you’ll probably end up deleting. I checked my router and my phone there’s an issue with steam and their servers with connection. Ik it’s not the game itself but it is impossible to play multiplayer with out being able to connect to steam. I made an account and now it’s just sitting their as I don’t use steam for anything else..Version: 1.0.431

Truly great by a great companyTruly a great mobile game. Ignore all the one stars directing you to another game. They are probably paid shills. This game runs amazingly and has depth and strategy. It’s a trendsetter in this new genre and is by a company that values you. There is currently no monetization in the game and when they do add it I trust valve will do it in a great way, as they have been the most consumer oriented company for years. They are also privately owned so we don’t have to worry about corporate greed ruining a great game!.Version: 1.0.3

Good game, but..There’s another auto chess game in the App Store called Auto Chess Origin and the controls are MUCH better...please fix the layout of this...it’s extremely wonky. This game also heats my phone up so much that it’s concerning, while Auto Chess Origin doesn’t heat your phone anywhere near the heat this game gives off, yet it’s essentially the same game with some different mechanics..So they’re beating you guys in a few departments you need to look into otherwise there is no point in playing this game while Auto Chess Origin exists. Fix the insane heat and controls/layout and this game is 5/5 golden..Version: 1.0.1

No soundNo sound on iPhone XR.Version: 1.0.527

“It seems your device with 13 free gibabytes only has 1 gigabyte, you will now suffer. “This game is flipping awesome but needs a little bit of patchwork. As stated in the title; this app is unable to correctly determine leftover space and seems to reduce playability and smoothness of game play overall because of this. In the two minutes of gameplay the game managed to crash twice which is always fun. This may just be for my case but who knows..Version: 1.0.2

Fantastic!Never played Auto Chess on dota 2 mod game, so this is my first time trying this game on desktop now playing this on phone is just awesome. When this game got out first on desktop there wasn’t any tutorial so I had to figure myself through playing it, wasn’t that hard to be honest. Finally valve got something right than their Artifact game. This is game is awesome free game and enjoyable..Version: 1.0.3

Cant connect on steamIt wont log sign in.Version: 1.0.493

Best game ever!!Well this game takes some time to get used to, it is super fun! I love how it has challenging puzzles for single player now and knockout for when I want a quick match. I managed to get my fiancée into it and we play duos together!:).Version: 1.0.388

Best autochess out there rn.Title says it all. Played the big 3, LoL, Drodo and Dota’s versions. And I can say this is the most balanced and enhanced iteration of autochess..Version: 1.0.4

Please make all heroes playableNo update so far but we want all heroes playable Please Valve, pls Gaben sama.Version: 1.0.552

Log in issueWhy does it take too long to log in and sometimes it doesn't even let you log in to the game..Version: 1.0.527

Needs improvingThe game is fun and I enjoy the concept of it but definitely needs improving You’ll need to be logged into to steam to access half the game as it’s required for campaign and online play which isn’t much of an issue expect for the fact the game will log you out of steam and not let you log back in therefore locking you out of half the game The wait times for a multiplayer game are so unrealistically long I’ve been unable to find even one after playing for a few weeks all I’ve been able to do is practice against bots Overall I’d say it’s fun but definitely needs work.Version: 1.0.527

No updates. This game rocked when it came out, but Valve has chosen not to release an update in years. Disappointing..Version: 1.0.527

Really fun gameReally fun game but I am sad that it seems dead 🥲 don’t give it up Valve!.Version: 1.0.527

Great gameWorks great on iPhone X and even iPad Air 2 which is 7 years old.Version: 1.0.527

Still doesn’t work on my IPad for good quality screenThe game itself is pretty good. The problem is the bug for IPad has NOT been fixed yet!! as I can’t pick good quality screen! The problem has been ongoing for 8 months..Version: 1.0.498

Crashes a lotIt’s a fun game but it crashes a lot. Like every single game 2-3 times. One time it happened last battle and I don’t even know if I won.Version: 1.0.527

Super addictiveThis game is so underrated it’s not even funny. I’ve probably put well over 400 hours into this game..Version: 1.0.512

AmazingThe game is constantly updating. It runs super smoothly on mobile. The team behind this game is incredible!.Version: 1.0.512

Amazing Auto Chess game! This is easily one of the best free to play games out there! It runs with no issues on my iPhone 11 Pro. I hope the devs get enough support from the community to update the game on a regular basis..Version: 1.0.511

Great gameDuring the beta phase they had all the characters and items. But now several characters have been removed. Those characters need to come back into the game fast or you will be losing many players as the strategies for the remaining ones becomes limited.
