Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee is the award-winning Rogue-Like Dungeon-Defense game, in which you and your team of heroes must protect the generator of your crashed ship while exploring an ever-expanding dungeon, all while facing waves of monsters and special events as you try to find your way out. The Apogee Edition of Dungeon Of The Endless includes the full game and five DLCs.

WHAT’S BEHIND THE DOOR?

A few hundred condemned criminals were being shipped to the Auriga system on board the prison hulk “Success”. While this was presented as a chance to earn back their place in society by working hard for the common good, they understood that in fact they would be slave labour, sent to colonize an unexplored planet. All they knew about Auriga Prime was what the probes told them: it had water, temperate zones, plant life, and plenty of metals in the crust.

In fact, the planet Auriga once hosted a major settlement of the galaxy-travelling ancestors known as the Endless. In addition, the planet was still orbited by a functioning (and well cloaked) defensive system, which sprang eagerly to life upon the arrival of the Success. Within a few minutes, the ship was nothing but a few large chunks of metal falling toward the planet.

Luckily, every set of holding cells also functioned as an escape pod, so the ship let itself disintegrate and the surviving prisoners fell bruised but (temporarily) alive and (momentarily) safe to the planet below. Safe, that is, until they realized that they had crashed through some sort of Endless facility, all the way down to a sub-basement so deep and ancient it might as well be called a dungeon…

Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee Positive Reviews

Great game But…This game is miles deep and a lot of fun for strategists. I have been playing it non stop for weeks since I downloaded it. This is perhaps a testament to to how good the game is, because I’ve noticed that based on reviews from players who have the pc version ( or any other version) this is by far an inferior port. Still a lot of fun though and has has not stopped me from enjoying it. With hard to see visuals, (doesn’t help that I’m playing on an iPhone instead of a tablet) but also extremely annoying text glitches during the elevator sequences, we need a few updates. The text sometime is one letter wide for some reason and is pretty much impossible to read (it’s also way too small). Developers, please fix the messed up text. Also this version is missing the Australium content, would be nice to see that in a new update too. *update to review* There are issues with the construction screen that really need fixing. The major module screen doesn’t display the Med module if you have unlocked all the others (maybe because it’s lower on the screen and there is no way to scroll the window). Please fix as it’s pretty frustrating to not be able to use all the items In the ge..Version: 1.03

Ported fairly well.I’ll start with the negative points first: > The screen isn’t quite adapted for all display sizes, so some things will be cut off, stretched, or misplaced in dialogue or menus depending on your device. (Elevator dialogue only allows 2-3 letters per line) (Research menu moves the 4th upgrade to the bottom of the screen, cutting off research costs for both 1st and 4th upgrade) (Hero skills stack downwards in the skill menu, cutting off tooltip tabs on the skills.) > Hotswapping heroes can be a little wonky sometimes when you need to activate individual skills or do a lot of different things in a rapid timeframe. > No co-op :( — Good things! > The game plays remarkably well and smooth, mostly indistinguishable from the alternative platforms. Very well done for a mobile device port! > It’s just an extremely fun game to get yourself lost in for quite a long time as long as you’re I to these sorts of games. - I don’t have terribly many notable positives to mention because the game is really good, it’s just those negatives stand out a little rough for me. I reaaaaally do wish that all of my characters could have their skill menus available when multiple are selected at once, though..Version: 1.03

The RNG alone ruins everythingThis game definitely hooked me in. Many playthroughs later and I’m still into it. Amazing music, great characters, etc is what still has me trying to finally win a game, but it honestly feels like I’m likely to never win due to the randomly generated elements of the game making or breaking my chances. The top floor is easily where the RNG matters the most. There’s rooms with no defense options and with limited power to the rooms it’s a huge issue and can throw away all those hours of getting to the top in an instant. Enemies are also an RNG issue. My recent top floor attempt was ruined mainly because the game kept spamming those stupid module destroying enemies in mass so the weapons meant to deal with them couldn’t keep up which exhausted my supplies. It feels like skill doesn’t matter because I’ve got a good handle on the game now but the idiotic randomness negates all that. I’m probably gonna stop trying soon because it’s all up to chance. And a permadeath game that lasts hours just to end simply because of a little bad luck is a waste of time. Edit:Finally won a game. The escape floor spawned close and I managed to barely make it with 2 of my 4 team members dying. Really just came down to luck, which is the main issue..Version: 1.02

Review based off 20mins inThis is a bit closer to the way the game is suppose to be played. I was saddened by how the xbox version feels fresh squeezed out of a hot anus. I wish they would give that version the kind of care they are giving this APOGEE EDITION. So this is what a finished version of the game feels like. It’s pretty nice being able to actually use the tactical map to almost full affect. On xbox?.. that tacmap is just a novelty. I think everyone went home early that day. The day that they were porting the tacmap to xbox and porting the options menu as well. 😆I fired this iOS version up and saw the options menu and was like ‘genius, an options menus. Who would have ever considered to put an options menu in a game? I’m being spoiled over here. I had not realized what a dog house in the rain the xbox version really was, 🤣but when you are treated like a dumb-beast long enough, dot dot dot’ 🤣Yep, this is a proper version that I’d compare to perhaps a fine dining experience. A good morning steak and eggs (closed my eyes, smacking lips together and salivating ) or perhaps an upscale cordon bleu coupled with a savory glass of white wine. 😃Not a half chewed turkey leg thrown into the rainy mud like the xbox version. iOS version highly recommended..Version: 1.03

Absolutely love this game - but one bugI’ll continue to support these devs as they make great games. This title is extremely unique and I can’t wait for the successor. There is a bug on the iPad mini (6th gen) when you are researching you cannot see the science cost for the first item as the last item covers the price. The only other thing that I don’t like is when zooming back into the playable view it always goes back to where the camera was and not the room you are pinch-to-zooming on. Easy 5 stars if those are addressed.Version: 1.03

Very EntertainingSo I’m intrigued by the minimalist storyline, atmosphere, the dynamic dungeon settings and layouts. The progress system and character building and design seems solid as well. Great use of screen real estate for the UI, but....while importing this from PC into mobile format, it seems that no consideration was given to the text size on smaller forms (iPhone 11 Pro Max). 70% of all text in the game is way too SMALL (see what I did there?). And the other 30% requires squinting. And I get it- it looks awesome on an iPad (I own one as well), but please developers- on your next update: include an option to enlarge fonts or a zoom-in ability (tap or pinch) on fields that show texts. My eyes hurt. All the same, thank you for this great port, team..Version: 1.02

One of the Best Roguelikes Ever MadeI’ll just cut to the chase: DotE is one of the best Roguelikes ever made (and it also takes place in and sends the stage for one of the most lore-rich and well fleshed-out fantasy/sci fi universes ever created, if that’s something that interests you). Also, this port quality now with the recent QoL updates is pure gold. I’ve been playing my iPad and iPhone both and having a blast. This will permanently remain on any iOS device I own for the indefinite future. So why are you still reading this? Just buy this game already! And Amplitude, please keep the hits coming!! I’m looking forward to Humankind, but cannot wait for Endless Dungeon!.Version: 1.03

Excellent game, small UI issuesI played this game years ago on PC and was delighted to find it available for touchscreen devices. Even on iPad, this game does not disappoint. Definitely among the best roguelike games I’ve ever played. The music is terrific, the strategy is deep, it’s extremely replayable, and the only reasons for complaint are that the major module upgrades in the shop are covered up so you can’t see the Science cost. There are also some odd text display errors in which the text is sometimes only a letter wide. Overall though, these are small issues and don’t impact my enjoyment of the game that much..Version: 1.03

What’s behind the door? This port is well done. I was a little worried about how intuitive the touch controls would be on mobile. Couldn’t be happier! This truly is one of my favorite games of all time. I fell in love with it in PC when it released, I don’t even know how many hours I’ve put into this game across PC, console, and now mobile. The soundtrack is top tier, the art style is dripping with atmosphere, and the gameplay is innovative and addictive. The risk and reward system is excellently executed. Thank you Amplitude, for making this game. Now I have a few doors I know are waiting to be opened..Version: 1.03

Faithful Port of the PC VersionI’ve played this game extensively on Steam and immediately pre-ordered it when I saw it was being released on iOS. I was available to play it the exact moment I received the alert it was ready to download, so at that time I dumped about an hour of gameplay into it. It is indeed a faithful port of the PC version, which I’m quite happy about. I think this title will do well on the mobile platform, though I think the screen maneuvering can be done a bit better. Perhaps a more fluid, free-form panning of the screen would suffice rather than the current controls..Version: 1.02

Bad UI on iPad miniThe game and visuals seem good, but the UI doesn’t display correctly on an iPad mini. At minimum, the research screen renders the second row overlapping the first, obscuring the costs. The confirm/cancel button also appear in the center of the screen, which also seems wrong. As others have mentioned, the font is extremely small. Increasing it might cause other problems fitting everything on screen, though. The game really needs a database or help for anything on screen, so you can read enemy stats/type or preview skills on items before you buy. As it is, you kind of need to play with a fan wiki open..Version: 1.03

Love it or hate it?I think this is a game that you will love or hate. It’s very addictive and fun for me at least. The only real negative is that you can’t save. And this goes from slightly annoying early on to a very big negative late in the game. The strategy is deeper than you initially think and it takes some time to perfect it, but it doesn’t feel like wasted time. I’d like in this game to a sort of cheap hybrid between Warcraft and Diablo though nowhere near as good as either of those. Still, unique and fun..Version: 1.03

NiceIt’s a quality game, and I had no issues with it of crashing or anything. I do think it’s a bit overpriced though. The graphics are nice, but gameplay wise, it starts to get repetitive about halfway through a run (which lasts several hours). The difficulty selection is a [literal] joke..Version: 1.03

Great game, not great portI’ve played and completed DoTE on the PC years ago. I was excited to play it again on a mobile device. But at the moment, this is not a good port. Overall it seems like they added touch controls and got it to build on mobile, but put no effort into reworking the game for mobile. For instance, the UI is not scaled for small screens at all. Text is barely readable it’s so small, and icons on equipment have just been down scaled so they look like muddy blobs and you can’t tell what the icon is supposed to be. You can zoom out to the map, but can’t zoom in, so your little heroes get mobbed by hordes of indistinguishable enemy pixels. You can’t see if the enemies are ones that attack heroes or structures it’s just a blob. The hot buttons for your heroes skills are also fiddly to pop out and use. I think this could be all fixed with more work, but right now I would say buy this on PC not mobile..Version: 1.02

Aersome gameThe art work is amazing I have had so much fun playing this game on PC and got excited when it was ported to mobile. My only complaint and it is a big complaint that should be a easy fix, is that there is no pause when health is low for a character. Because of perma death it is devastating for a game when a character dies and it is such a easy mistake to make. Please implement a pause on low health..Version: 1.03

This my jam - Dungeon of the EndlessExplore, forage, build the line then hold it, find the exit. Then do it again and again until you escape or die trying. I adore this game. I love the process it presents. The lore, the characters, along with the sounds and music that round it out. It is unlike anything else I’ve played and while it may not be for everyone, it is definitely for me..Version: 1.03

One of my favorite games of all timeI’ve played a lot of this on PC. Playing on iPhone and iPad is great except for a few things: Health bars are too small, I find it very hard to see current health at a glance, perhaps making the health bars 3x thicker would help Healing/selecting a crew member being on the same button is rough on a small screen..Version: 1.02

Font sizeSo far I love it, I don’t have a console or pc, so my iPhone X is where i game. I love how much depth there is, but the fact I can’t scale font or UI to read what things do is tough. Maybe consider in a future update being able to scale font, will change to 5 with larger text. Great game.Version: 1.02

AmazingThis game is a really unique piece. Fantastic music, just enough but not overbearing quirky dialog and a solid gameplay mechanic. It’s just slightly lacking on content however I feel with a few more updates this will be over the top awesome.Version: 1.02

Amazing gameOne of the most unique games ive played. Dote really keep you on your toes and pushes you to keep going. Has big “one more floor” energy. Great on tablet or larger sized iPhones. Thanks for bringing this classic back to mobile..Version: 1.03

Could be greatSo much potential but the tutorial system is one of the worst I have ever had the displeasure to use. Fix the tutorial..Version: 1.03

GreatLove the game I have it in Xbox too. Quick and easy fun with a challenge. Playing for a month now and still only playing on very easy. Happy hunting fellas!.Version: 1.03

I like thisIve played defense based games but this one is imo unique. Has a fair difficulty, but once u realize how the flow of the gameplay works you’ll also figure out why the game is fun :D.Version: 1.02

Works great finally on iPhoneI used to play on iPad a couple years ago glad it’s finally on iPhone. Great game tons of fun a lot to learn. Definitely recommend.Version: 1.02

Perfect except one thingIt’s a great game all around however it gives off the feel that it was originally meant to be for pc but was changed to mobile for example one of the most key features selecting characters sometimes you need to select just two or so characters and to do so is very hard to do it’s still doable due to the pause option however without the pause option (which will be something you’ll deal with later on) it’s very difficult to do another thing is the map it’s a good thing and bad thing bad because sometimes when I go do pull up the map I end up selecting a character and moving them in the process these are some problems that seemed to be caused simply for the fact that there’s no mouse it’s the same with the game (faster then light) and (dead cells) it doesn’t feel like a problem until you further into the game or have something to compare it to I mean I’m not trying to complain so here’s a way it could be fixed for the map add a option in settings so you can select if you want to access the map with a button icon or of if you want to use the hand gesture to select as for the characters select give a option to chose the characters you want to pick when you double tap or something of that nature it can be to where you can toggle these settings on and off in settings so it’s fits better again I’m not trying to be critical as the game has just been released but this game has serious potential I mean it’s already good but it’s the small things that makes the difference in the long run this is all assuming this game might get updated in the future and is not the final version is it is the final version and there will be no more updates the so be it currently I’m not judging this as a full game but one that might be updated in the future for whatever reason but other then that it’s a good game..Version: 1.02

Please fix overlapping research UI on iPadLove the game but inexcusable this bug has been unaddressed for so long..Version: 1.03

Would be 5 stars if text was scaledGreat game. Please allow the user to increase text size. Currently, it is unreadable (too small). I will rate as 5 stars if the problem is fixed..Version: 1.02

Great game but needs controller supportI would love to use my Backbone with this!.Version: 1.03

Great game small textPlaying on a lm iPhone 12 the text is just far too small. Please add a setting to make the font bigger..Version: 1.02

Chinese?Need chinese.Version: 1.02

Pure awesome sauce! One of the best iPad games ever!.Version: 1.03

Amazing portLove it thank u.Version: 1.02

Awesome game, but annoying visual bugs on iPad ProGreat game with an excellent amount of depth and variety to each run and an absolutely outstanding art style and soundtrack. Don’t be fooled by the price tag, this is a full fledged, microtransaction-free roguelike, with a very interesting gameplay loop that immediately put me in the “just one more run” mindset. On a 2021 11 inch iPad Pro however, there are some annoying visual glitches. When a horizontal “list” of items is shown (for example each character’s stats, or available research items at a science crystal) the rightmost item will often awkwardly “wrap” to the next row. This is particularly egregious in the research crystal where the “wrapped” item will actually obscure the cost of the first option in the list! I suspect this is very much not intentional, but it’s had quite a negative impact on an otherwise flawless mobile port. Easy 5 stars if this bug were fixed..Version: 1.03

Dr wiggles doesnt know what a rogue-like is apparently. noob.Amazing game. get good..Version: 1.03

Great gameAbove expectations.Version: 1.02

Love EndlessI love goving you Dust for this Science, Food and Industry. Grateful..Version: 1.03

A good gameIt is fun to play, lots of starting options even before you unlock more. You will be challenged often, both in the decisions you make exploring, but in how you invest your finite resources. The steep learning curve really does beg for. A more thorough tutorial, perhaps via a curated run of a few floors to show mechanics better. Also, why is the startup load so unskippable -and- long?.Version: 1.03

Favourite Game!Honestly, the learning curve is wild. The tutorial for the game is basic…. (Some googling needed) If you’re new to this genre of game you’ll fall in love with it. Can’t wait for the new instalment!!!! The graphics are look outstanding..Version: 1.03

Still goodGiving 5 stars but still see the need for some fixes, especially broken/incomplete text and the lost défense pod when you try to select them behind a generator or a hero standing there. Other than that, like the joke, the difficulty, it’s doesn’t feel like a phone game and it’s a lot of fun..Version: 1.03

As good as the PC versionThe control is clunky when selecting characters and their skills. But it can be mitigated by pause and select. After getting used to the control, it is as addicting as the PC version. Great rogue lite game..Version: 1.03

Love itThis is IMO one of the best games you can get for your iPad.Version: 1.03

Great game but still buggyFeels different than the original one. Not sure how I feel about it but I’ll give it a shot Still feels like there’s bugs to squash. One that’s pretty obvious for me is at the research crystal there’s 4 options, but rather than having all 4 on the same line, the 4th one gets punted to the line below the first 3 and gets hidden under the close button. Not game breaking but still not to the level of polish expected, Especially for something you have to look at to progress (maybe if it was something you only have to look at once in a while... not sure how this was missed since you have to look at this if you play it at all) Will update as I go through it..Version: 1.03

Some bugsThe pet girl is bugged. When you tame a monster it just sits in the room you tamed it in. Never really follows you around and it cant die. When you tame a second monster while its alive it just stands there. Other monsters are aggrod to it but cant attack it. So they just freeze lol. Other than some bugs like this and the small font that no one can read on the phone. Its not bad.Version: 1.02

Love the game however no sound?!Having issue with no audio!.Version: 1.02

Needs more frame rate!Game really needs to have a frame rate option! Not as smooth as it should be!.Version: 1.02

Great game but lacking in UIHighly recommend playing this game, if not here, then on another console/PC. It is a unique take on tower defence, rogue lite, and RTS genres. However, the current mobile version as of this review is a bit difficult to see/control. The UI text and buttons are small and hard to read/press, especially on phone screens, and there is no way to resize the UI. There could also be some QoL changes such as selecting and moving multiple heroes (the current implementation is you either move one or all heroes). I also find that I accidentally turn off power to rooms as I’m scrolling - a visual indicator and a longer long-press time could help. Overall, this game has great potential and I look forward to it becoming better with some minor tweaks..Version: 1.02
