OnWater: Fishing Spots Map Customer Service

I recently used the offline map tool when floating the South Fork of the Boise River. Because I was unfamiliar with the river and the float, access points, river distances to campsites, whitewater hazards, and other points of interest to the angler, the offline map was invaluable to me in planning snd executing the 2 day overnight float. Although near the growing city of Boise, ID, the South Fork runs through a remote and deep river canyon setting without reliable cell phone service, so I downloaded the fully curated off-line map and was able to track my float without a glitch! This helped immensely in understanding where I was in relation to my planned campsite for the night, putting me at ease in the late afternoon by knowing exactly where I would be camping and not needing to push through good evening water to ensure I found my camp while there was still daylight. Also, I was able to see exactly where whitewater hazards were located, enabling me to make better decisions, for example, choosing to set camp rather than trying to run a relatively simple but technical rapid in the fading light of the day. I have always used digital resources when planning a river trip, but the research aspect of this process is tedious, requiring a search of several resources to get the whole big picture. With onWater’s app everything is right there in one location making trip planning and the overall experience so simple and incredibly informative with its hand-curated and detailed information. I was initially hesitant about using a fishing app but I’m happy this one exists. The free version is useful: having a curated view of every access point, boat ramp, fly shop, etc directly on my phone means I can plan trips faster. The My Waters dashboard they added recently has also been a game changer — I use it to keep a pulse on all of the live water conditions for my favorite rivers instead of individually checking them on the USGS site, and I have it set up so I get alerts when stream flows are in my ideal ranges. Their team is also really responsive to feedback about the in-app experience. There are a few things like the river measuring tool that are useful but more manual than I expected and it sounds like those are things they’re actively working on solving for. I’m stoked to see what this app will look like in a year’s time.

I have loved using this app. The distance calculator on the river is extremely valuable when floating sections I’m unfamiliar with. Also enjoy having the private and public land marked to make sure I’m not trespassing. I believe the app is providing maps and other information in a responsible way by keeping your own marked places and notes private to only you, and providing links to local fly shops and other local services who benefit from people using the app to contact them. I also appreciate their mission to support conservation efforts across the country. Keep up the good work onWater!

As someone who generally doesn’t love the use of too much technology when it comes to fly fishing, I was skeptical about downloading OnWater. I was pleasantly suprised with both how helpful and how easy-to-use the app is. From private location logs that allow you to record your personal fishing data without exposing any details to others, to the ability to download offline maps so you can always feel confident in remote locations, OnWater is a useful tool to help you fully enjoy every day out on the water.

Onwater is by far the best app out there. I spend 20+ hours a week on the river and use this regularly. I’ve tried all of the apps side by side and the other guys don’t even compare. Tout bouts (if you know what I’m saying) doesn’t even come close in quality. Easily see stream flows and conditions and plan trips to new water. The journal feature is great to keep track of what’s working and good spots. I love using it on rivers I don’t fish as much as my local ones to keep track of how and where to fish when I return.

I kayak fish alone in places i have never been. Alot of times there is no cell service. Being able to download maps in the out of service areas really eases my mind. This app makes finding those access points a breeze along with being able to press a button and measure the distance between access points means im not have to camp out unexpectedly due to poor judgement. Love being able to check all the flow stations and save them on my favorite rivers! Homerun guys!

As a Disabled Paralyzed Veteran, I recently became involved in the wonderful art, science and just plain fun of fly-fishing. The On-water App is phenomenal in assisting a person to find the right location for you, fishing for what you desire and provide an enjoyable environment for you and your family to participate in. I really enjoy the opportunities that are provided and I look forward to fly fishing starting back up this year to see what new and innovative items On-water has in store.

I emailed the team about a problem with the purchase function of the app. I had built a customized Abel reel through the onWater Blue Line design offering. Once I got to the purchase function it kept dumping me onto the Mayfly main page. Will answered quickly, investigated the issue, and performed an update to the app. He told me how to receive the update and it worked exactly as explained. His communication was A+++ and I was able to order the reel seamlessly.

I purchased the premium version of this app based on the developers website and tutorials. Half of the icons (the ones important to me) are not available. Yes, before you ask, I do in fact have the premium version, I have logged out and back in, and have restarted my iPhone and logged back in. Based on the quality of the website, you would think the app would perform as advertised. Not so.

Awesome product. I’ve always purchased expensive laminated maps in fly shops when floating new rivers. Now all the information is in one, easy to access location that is constantly updated updated with current river conditions. Especially useful when floating a new river to see exactly how many miles to your take out. No more second guessing where we are when I could be focusing on the fish!

This is an app that has allowed me to not only find more information out about streams and rivers nearby my area. But it also allows me to find great new streams and rivers farther away. This app allows me to scope out new rivers and better plan out my trips to be a more successful angler. I only started fishing during Covid and this app has now made me a proficient and better angler since I’ve started to use it.

I am a huge fan of this app! As someone that fishes over 150 days of the year, this app is extremely helpful for not only local rivers, but rivers in different states for knowing the flows, access points and more. besides that, knowing the rules in the regulations for each state is extremely helpful, and information on local fly shop especially has helped in brand new states that I have fished.

OnWater makes finding great fishing spots a breeze. I got access not only to a bunch of worthy hotspots already pinned in the map with info on fish types and water depth, but also weather conditions, accesibility, directions, etc. The app also has fishing tips and tricks to level up skills, offline maps which are very useful when connections are weak, and land boundaries to avoid trespassing.

This app has everything you could want. Adding details to your photos makes it extremely easy to journal what was working in the exact conditions. The GPS features while you float make sure you never miss a takeout and make planning the day a breeze. The team always seems to be adding more rivers. Well worth the money if you spend a lot of days on the river.

This is by far the best fishing app i have. Compared to some fishing apps this tops it! With being able to see weather conditions, boat lunches, and even access points to your fishing grounds is super helpful. It came in handy when some friends and i wanted to go out, and being able to see weather conditions for the area was really nice in planning our best time to fish. Couldn't ask for a better app!

I’ve been using this app for a while and it’s been instrumental in helping me with my daily trips and logging catches. onWater has been super easy to use from day one and one thing I love is when some new feature gets added, they have a short walk through on how to navigate the new feature. Super helpful for someone like myself.

This app has been great for exploring new flowing waters. The integrated gauges and launch points are super convenient. The only thing I’ve found so far that I’d like to see improved is the length of tributaries and feeder creeks. Some com up in sections and some come up with wildly inaccurate measurements. It would be cool if there was a quick way to see the river miles between two access points too. Overall it’s definitely a worthwhile app for the river angler.

The app is beautiful I love the images displayed when your looking for certain waters. Also a really cool feature is the ability to save a map of the river you found offline, this is super useful when out in the backcountry with zero reception. I highly recommend this app for fishermen as we are constantly looking for new places to fish!!!

This app is easy to navigate and very useful. I really enjoy the public vs private land feature. It makes you feel confident on the water when accessing fishing spots. I also enjoy all river information is in one spot and even gives you the closest fly shop. Overall incredible app and can’t wait to continue to use it and tell others.

This app has it all for us anglers rafters that need quick access to public vs private land/ boat ramps when planning our next fishing trip. Also really important info like guide shops, gauges, and licensing needs. It’s also great for when I get to a new river that unexpectedly has bad conditions so I whip the app out and look out for nearby public access elsewhere!

At first I thought this app solely had river maps. But, after playing around with the app, I found lots of other useful features that ended up coming in handy on the river. The river mileage, and distance tool was pretty cool, as you never really know the exact mileage from different boats ramps and such. Looking forward to see how it develops.

Finally an app for fly fishermen. This app compiles all of the background info needed to explore a new a water body into a one stop shop! Not only are private/public property boundaries clearly identified, but there is also specific access location provided as well as fly recommendations. Great imagery detail in both online and offline maps.

All around this app has been great for exploring new fishing spots. Taken me to a few places I would not have otherwise. All in all I highly recommend this app over TroutRoutes. Both are good but you get more bang for your buck with onWater. My only hopes for this app is that it one day becomes CarPlay compatible and that lake depths are available in CA.

This app is truly amazing! Before I was using the COfish app that allowed for fishers in the state of CO to get weather alerts and maps of certain spots. But this app goes beyond what they had. The maps are incredibly accurate and the best part of something is missing the fishermen can send that info in and help build the app. Having that ability to be user friendly is incredible. The information for fishing in the states or where to fish are just as accurate. I would recommend this to any and all fishers out there. I fly fish and regular fish and this has been very helpful! Honestly I don’t ever write reviews for apps or really in general…but this app is freaking awesome! I am mainly a trout fisherman, which the app is perfect for finding public water and access points, but on a recent saltwater trip I checked and boom, they have insanely detailed saltwater fishing access too! Really great app that continues to get better and better

This has been a fun app to explore. I have everything I need in one place. Before, I’d have to look at several different websites for stream flows, fishing reports and river access points. This has significantly streamlined my research. The company seems to be updating & improving the app all of the time. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

I use this app for my guiding business as well as personal outings around the northeast. It’s has been a really good planning and journaling tool. I never go out fishing without checking water flow data on the app and the journal has helped me keep track of productivity of different waters. Can’t say enough good about it.

I got this app through Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing and my favorite feature about it is that it lets you see property owners and their property boundaries. Takes the guessing out of where I am legally allowed to fish and where I am not which I really appreciate! If it showed different species in bodies of water, it would be my #1!

Absolutely so far one of my all out favorite mapping apps that there is when it comes to any outdoors not just fishing. I’ve used this so many times for so many different things and talk about being able to make a kayaking route on smaller streams. It’s unbelievable absolutely love it.

I’m not gonna lie. This app worked out better than I expected. The data mining for flow rates and Weather, etc. seems very accurate up-to-date and never crashed. The only thing I would like to see changed is when you zoom in Certain icons don’t enlarge big enough for my old man eyes.

The On Water app is a great tool to find fishing spots. The thing I find most useful is the ability to make a note after a day of fishing. I make note of weather, flow, working pattern and not working patterns. All of this info can be reviewed the next time I go to that spot. A great app with many useful options.

Before trying out this app I had only fished water that someone else had showed me where to access. I was a little uncomfortable trying out new water and thinking about public access boundaries, where to park etc. This app helped a TON.

I live in Iowa in the heart of the driftless region with some great trout streams, and the state isn’t even on here, which is disappointing. It is tough finding access and area to fish here as well. And Wisconsin only is one stream marked and there are some amazing streams in that state. Looks like it’s more of an app for the western states which is fine.

OnWater is a great app that is helpful for researching/ scouting locations to fish- especially somewhere you have not been before. The data and maps are super helpful. Waterflow, public vs private land along waterways, lists and connections to local fishing/tackle shops and fishing reports all add to your ability to assess new waters. I recommend the app as a useful tool for any one who loves to fish.

OnWater is incredibly useful for the river trips my family and I go on. Numerous times during spring, summer, and fall - we will float various rivers in our area for just a day trip or 1 to 3 nights at a time. In the winter, we do a fair amount of gigging. OnWater is helpful in monitoring water levels, measuring river mileage, etc.

On water is a great and incredibly versatile app for fishermen of any experience level, I’ve been using for a little under a year now and the improvements have been astonishing. Truly a great app and a must-have for the intellectual fisherman.

Has just about everything you can ask for in a fishing app. Shows you the private areas, has journal with documentation, has fishing access sites, has flows and boat ramps, and can even notify you when you are nearing a takeout. I love the app so far.

This app is super useful for exploring new streams! I have been wanting to fish some near by water but end up sticking to the same old holes. I tried this app out this weekend and had a blast. Parking, public access spots, current reports, flow and more. I was my own guide. Easy, enjoyable fishing!

I would rate it 5 stars but it doesn’t have a River or a lake I go to usually, it has bigger rivers but it doesn’t have the other ones, it’s granted that they arnt big lakes but one is Definitely a lake that thousands of people go to yearly. It just isn’t big as some are. But from looking at others it’s just what I need

This is one of the best apps I’ve ever used! And not only gives me information and the ability to defined prime fishing holes, but it also allows me to upload photos of the fish I have caught in different locations. I love this app, and highly recommend it.

I’ve found the app to be most helpful when traveling and learning the streams. Sometimes I find it clunky to move between say, “zooming in to see what is private land” and then trying to return to the stream I was looking at originally. But overall, well developed and intuitive for any angler!

As a new angler I love using this app to help me find fishing in my area. The AI questions answering feature is also great for helping me understand what fish are in what areas and which ones are able to be eaten. Excited to continue using it!

I subscribed to the full version about five minutes after using it for the first time. It has not just great data but all the data you need to fish local rivers

I’m excited there is a fly fishing specific app dedicated to access and navigation. With that said Hunt OnX still takes the cake (though it’s substantially more expensive). Give onWater some time and it’ll be right there. This is not an easy undertaking and I’m excited to see where it goes. Some of the information is unfortunately a little bit limited. Keep it going and I will definitely monitor the progress on this app. Huge potential here.

I was advertised this add on Facebook, I do a lot of fishing and thought I’d give it a chance. App downloaded fine, but if I try to login or register it just goes right back to the login page and the login buttons won’t work to Sign in with Apple or Google. The app is broken or something. It’s not my internet connection, or my phone, or anything like that, the app just simply won’t work. I’d love for this to be resolved so I can actually give a legitimate review, but right now, until this issue is fixed, I’ll give it 1 star. Can’t login, can’t do anything.

Got a notice that my annual renewal would happen 2/14. Went to use the app the other day, and I don’t have the subscription access. Sent a note to them that since they didn’t renew me, I want to make sure their system doesn’t “wake up” and renew me at some point in the future, and that I’m officially canceling. I asked them to confirm this. Crickets is all I get. If this is how the company is run, I don’t need to support them. I don’t get how a company can be so lax. I’ll go with TroutRoutes.

Compared to the other paid fishing apps this one is a joke. It provides little to no information even with premium it has nothing because no one is using it. Don’t waste your time here there are plenty of other well managed apps where the creator actually put effort into it. The fact you have a premium membership for an app that doesn’t even do half the things it advertises and is clearly incredibly unfinished is wild

So sad and pretty disappointed when I found out This app doesn’t give the same content and detail as the American waters. For Canadians it’s a blank slate. I hope that one day it will have some of the same features that Americans users receive. But as for now I think Canadian users are the ones collecting data for the app to use in the future, so we should be getting a discount for entering our fishing information.

Do not purchase this if you live in Canada, for some reason, this is in the Canadian App Store, but only provides information in the US will be asking for a refund.
