NYS Wallet App Comments & Reviews

NYS Wallet Positive Reviews

After the Mandate, the app works perfectly!Ok so the app designer must have gotten paid per the features the app is supposed to provide, because the stupidity of having two different passes in the app is unnecessarily redundant. The only difference between the two passes is the original can be added to the Apple wallet app for a quick access and expires, but lacks the complete information (number and dates of vaccinations, etc.) that is provided by the pass plus, which cannot be added to the Apple wallet but doesn’t expire. Streamline all the features into one pass that has easy access. And instead of requiring to take out your ID, why not allow an initial scan of your ID as a second step once you have the excelsior pass, to display with it? Less risk of having to rush through pockets or purses to find said ID, only to lose them DEVELOPER RULE: K.I.S.S.: Keep it simple stupid!.Version: 2.6.0

What happened?Ok so I took me a while to figure this out since the app doesn’t provide much information on this. If seems after the 2nd dose of vaccinations any boosters aren’t automatically updated to the pass. Instead you have to go to the NYS website and add a new pass to the app with the update as Excelsior Plus. Now unsure if this is also from an update but why not just allow a person to scan their real card and verify the data right into the app? Also was Apple Wallet feature removed? On the go I’d like to just open the Wallet and get it scanned when I’m in NYC. I don’t see or can find details on how to do that now. You should include an action for it..Version: 2.9.0

Works as promisedI got my pass on the website and was able to add it, from there, into Apple wallet, to screenshot it, to print it, to save it as a file, and to download this app and add it to the app as well. Overkill, maybe, but I don’t know yet which will work best for my needs so I tried them all, and they all work. So you don’t actually need this app to have an Excelsior Pass, which a number of complaints don’t seem to understand. It’s just an added convenience. My one problem had to do with the pass itself, not the app. I counted yesterday as 14 days from my second vaccine but couldn’t get a pass until today. I figure I miscounted because I got my shot early in the day?.Version: 1.1.0

Worked great for us!!!I tried to get the pass 1 week after I was fully vaccinated & was informed that I was trying to put my info in to early to receive it. Fast forward 2 weeks later tried again and BINGO, worked like a charm. It expires in one year from the date I received my second vaccination, which is fine since no one really knows if these vaccinations will need boosters, or whatever, in the near future. 3 days later I did the same for my hubby so he could get his pass on his phone and had Zero problems with getting his pass either. Making life soooo much easier to wine & dine, or whatever. Stay safe all!!.Version: 1.4.1

Easy to use but expires after a monthOnly giving it 4 stars due to incorrect information that I had to enter at first. It gave me different counties where I did not get vaccinated at. I got mines in the Bronx and the only one in nyc that came up in was queens so I went with that one and got my pass. Also it seems to expire after a month. I know the app just came out so there’s gonna be some issues at first but hopefully this is one of them they can address moving forward. Other than that I haven’t had the time to use it yet but it looks easy to use. It’s super convenient as I don’t have to carry the physical card with me everywhere I go.Version: 1.0.2

Great app that verifies informationI love this app because it verifies the information which makes it more powerful than hard copies that could be easily forged. However, I have one suggestion that I’d like to see it happening: since the vaccine has to be submitted along with state ID, then I think the app should include digital verified copy of the state ID, even better accompanied with verified social security number since this going to be our required documents for some time to come..Version: 2.9.0

No problemsOnce I went thru the online site for verification, the app automatically opened up and showed me the proof. My problem, I actually tried about ten times, was that the online site could not find my info. I was getting really frustrated. Tried mother’s maiden name, and a whole bunch of other stuff, and still nothing. Then it hit me. I was inputting the county I live in instead of the county I was vaccinated in. Duuuh. Once I corrected that, voila! Went right thru and I now have the proof..Version: 1.5.0

Works as advertisedThis app works exactly as advertised. Most of the one star reviews criticize parts of the process that are not related to the app (e.g. the vaccination provider not recording information correctly). I ran I to such a problem as well, got in touch with customer support and got it straightened out. Also, if your pass is about to expire (or has already expired) get a new pass, it will have an updated expiration date. All that is explained on the Excelsior Pass web site..Version: 1.4.2

Super easyThe 15 day wait to be able to add the pass after my last vaccination was a bit tedious, but once I was eligible I just entered in some basic verification info and it automatically fetched my vaccination record. Then I added my vax QR card to my passbook. As apps go, it’s pretty bare-bones (small, easy to implement things are missing, like text auto fill, no social or app download share links, etc), but it does what it needs to and I had no issue. This was very quick and easy to use once I was eligible to use it..Version: 1.3.0

Worked for meWorked perfectly for me. Unfortunately a lot of people are unable to find their info or are discovering a variety of errors made with the data entry of their info. Everyone has to remember that this is done by a government agency. Not the private sector. As such, they don’t have the brightest and the best working for them. Anything done by the government will have an abundance of issues and cost 5 times what it would if done by a private company. Be patient. They’ll get it all worked out within 5 years..Version: 1.4.0

No Waiting & No ErrorsThis app not only functioned flawlessly, I was completely done in under 1 minute and had my pass generated literally immediately. Instantly. As fast as actually possible. It was amazing. And my pass is now added to my Apple Wallet. Using this was a breeze. It also doesn’t expire in a month as some folks have been saying. My pass is good for 1 full year. At which point I imagine I will need a new vaccination. Not that big of a deal..Version: 1.4.0

Kudos to New York StateI had switched jobs and my CDC COVID vaccination card had gone missing in the move. NYS made giving my new employer proof of my vaccination so easy because my vaccinations were in the system from my previous employer. Sooo helpful. And so quick and easy to sign up for! I’m not big into the government having all our info but this was an instance where they facilitated what would have been a difficult drawn out task of finding proof of my shots..Version: 2.2.0

Works perfectly, easy to add to apple walletIt took about 1 minute to get my pass. The only thing i learned is you MUST wait the full 14-15 days or whatever to obtain your pass. I tried it at night and the next morning on both myself and my partners phones and for each it needed to wait the same number of days. My advice: try it on what looks like the 14th day, if no pass - don't freak out just wait a day or two - it will work.Version: 1.2.0

People need to give it time!Everyone is so stuck on having everything instantly. First time around, no record of me. I waited a week and got my pass in 2 minutes so just chill out people. This is the first time in history that they have had to document millions of people getting a vaccine... it may take a bit to get all of that accurately into the system. I am not a big fan of NY but come on! Good job!.Version: 1.4.0

Terrible AppEntered my information which it can’t locate and rejects it Meanwhile I’m starting at my Vaccination Card , why not be able to send a copy of Front & Back of my card as proof of being fully vaccinated Update even though I was vaccinated in Bronx County it was associated with a medical staff from NY County, when I selected NY as my vaccination location this app successfully registered and is up and running… changed status from 1 Star to 5 Stars.Version: 1.4.2

Expiration?3 stars because my pass seems to Expire in less than a month. No explanation for this either. I’m thinking it’s an error they will correct. Otherwise it was seemless and simple. Ok so I’m updating my review because you responded to me and explained that all you have to do is re enter the info and now the pass will be good for 180 days. It’s a great way to keep track and prove your vaccinated. I don’t understand while people don’t want this. It’s brilliant!.Version: 1.0.2

The app does what it says it does ….The problem for me was the people who entered my vaccination info at the Javitz center. My last shot was March 29th. Two weeks after that I’ve been trying to enter my info into this app. Time and time again I wasn’t found. I emailed and called customer service. Never got an email reply and customer took my info and I haven’t heard back. So after maybe 40 or so attempts, I tried my MIDDLE NAME. Ding ding ding!!! They entered my info wrong. Doh!!!.Version: 1.4.0

Works fine if the information was correctly submitted to the stateI had an issue getting my pass at first BUT it was because my workplace had submitted my information with my old address. The app works fine for me. If you have an Apple Watch you can get your pass on the watch by adding it to your Apple Wallet and then pulling up the Wallet app on your watch..Version: 2.1.0

Updated ReviewThe app works perfectly now! If you are having an issue where it says it cannot find your information, just call the site where you were vaccinated. They will simply confirm your info and tell you they will upload it and it should be available in 24 hours. Works like a charm! Hope this helps!.Version: 2.0.0

Don’t force updatesGiven the use case for this app, developers should not be forcing updates unless absolutely necessary. When an update is available there should be a “use without update” or “update later” option. Many people do not have automatic updates turned on and forcing users to go to the App Store and update the app while they are trying to enter a venue is counterproductive..Version: 2.6.0
