SkySafari 7 Plus goes beyond most basic stargazing apps by providing you with a full-featured space simulator with telescope control. If you are looking to dive deeper into astronomy, start your journey with the #1 recommend app for amateur astronomers since 2009.

Note that there is no discount upgrade path from SkySafari 7 Plus to SkySafari 7 Pro. Choose carefully!

Here's what’s new in version 7:

+ Complete support for iOS 15 and iPhone 13. Version 7 brings a new and immersive stargazing experience.

+ Events Finder - go to the new Events section to unlock a powerful search engine that finds astronomical events visible tonight and far into the future. The finder dynamically generates a listing of moon phases, eclipses, planetary moon events, meteor showers and planetary phenomenon such as conjunctions, elongations and oppositions.

+ Notifications - the notifications section has been completely revamped to allow you to customize and manage which events trigger an alert notification on your device.

+ Telescope Support - telescope control is at the heart of SkySafari. Version 7 takes a giant leap forward by supporting ASCOM Alpaca and INDI. These next generation control protocols allow you to effortlessly connect to hundreds of compatible astronomical devices.

+ OneSky - allows you to see what other users are observing, in real time. This feature highlights objects in the sky chart and indicates with a number how many users are observing a particular object.

+ SkyCast - allows you to guide a friend or group around the night sky through their own copy of SkySafari. After initiating SkyCast, you can generate a link and conveniently share it with other SkySafari users via text message, apps or social media accounts.

+ Sky Tonight - jump to the new Tonight section to see what’s visible in your sky tonight. Expanded information has been designed to help plan your night and includes Moon & Sun info, calendar curations, events and the best positioned deep sky and solar system objects.

+ Improved Observation Tools - SkySafari is the perfect tool to help you plan, record and organize your observations. New workflows make it easier to add, search, filter and sort data.

+ Home Screen and Lock Screen Widgets keep your favorite astro information at your fingertips.

The Small Touches:

+ You can now edit the Jupiter GRS Longitude Value in the Settings.
+ Better Moon Age calculation.
+ New grid & reference options allow you to display Solstice and Equinox markers, Orbit Node markers for all solar system objects, and tick marks and labels for the Ecliptic, Meridian, and Equator reference lines.
+ Previous In-app Purchases are Now Free - this includes the H-R diagram and 3D Galaxy view. Enjoy.
+ Many more.

SkySafari 7 Plus App Comments & Reviews

SkySafari 7 Plus Positive Reviews

Wanted an Ephemeris in a Planetarium DisplayThe app met my desires to at least replace the defunct SkyWeek Plus from Sky & Telescope. I wanted an app that showed the sky for a given date and time. Further, I wanted to see the stars below the horizon as well. Further, I was delighted to add the display of the equator, the ecliptic, and the galactic equator. I was further delighted to see the plot of the planet Neptune, which SkyWeek lacked. I was happy that the display was adjustable to my latitude and longitude instead of SkyWeek’s hard-coded +40 degrees latitude, 90 degrees west. What I really was looking for was very specific: a planetarium ephemeris. I have only had the app installed for about an hour, so I have a lot more to learn!.Version: 7.0.3

Improvement over 6 but a few minor issuesThe new interface takes some getting used to, but once I figured out where everything was I definitely think it's an improvement. It makes logging and planning my observing sessions much easier. I love the events section. Enormously useful for planning. I do have a couple of minor complaints. The apparent lack of ability to automatically import observation records from SS6 is leading to a lot of work to restore progress on observing lists by carefully relogging them out of my notebooks. Also I like the new notification options, but you REALLY need a way to restrict notifications to things that are above the horizon from your current location. I don't want to get notifications of shadow transits on Jupiter when Jupiter is below my current horizon. It would be really nice to be able to restrict notifications to phenomena one can actually OBSERVE. Note for anyone struggling with the decision between plus and pro; On SS4 And SS5, I went with the pro version but starting with 6 I realized plus is a better fit for me. I use SkySafari in the field as a star atlas, and Plus is just a more practical field Atlas than the pro version. It goes just a hair deeper than Uranometria 2000, which is all I'll likely ever need. SSPro is a great desk reference, but unless you own a HUGE dobsonian, it's actually a little impractical in the field..Version: 7.0.2

The. Best Astronomy AppI have been using the app through four generations of development. It is easy to use, accurate, very customizable, and works well for stargazing and telescope control..Version: 7.0.3

Nice, but no Mac update?A nice app. I own previous versions and bought this to support the developers, even though I rarely use it. But why is the Mac version still stuck on version 6? Version 7 for iOS has been out a long time., so maybe I should have waited..Version: 7.3.1

Where’s Comet LeonardI’ve been using Sky Safari for years and I happily paid for this upgrade. It’s a great app but I’m disappointed that it doesn’t seem to show the location of Comet Leonard. It would be nice if it could locate visitors to our night sky as well as the more permanent residents like stars, planets and deep sky objects..Version: 7.0.2

Safari 6 seems to be betterI miss being able to forward time and see what objects were rising or where objects were the previous day/ week/ month. Haven’t found that option yet in 7 Plus. Good thing 6 is still on my phone..Version: 7.0.3

Telescope target is not showing upThe telescope connects using SkySafari 7 plus. But the bulls eye target does not show up on the display. So you do not know where you are pointing or slewing to. This is a big issue. SkySafari 6 does not have this issue! Please address this..Version: 7.0.3

Great star gazing appBest of all the star gazing and Astro info apps. Very accurate and easy to use..Version: 7.0.2

Great app, but…I have had to “repurchase” it a couple of times after installing an iPad update. They should at least offer a much reduced price..Version: 7.3.1

Why?I would give more stars except I keep getting notices to buy it again the app again , again and again !.Version: 7.0.3

PlanetsIt would be nice to see if the stars that this app has information on, would display if there are any interesting planets that orbit it.Version: 7.1.7

The bestThis is impressive, the amount of data is overwhelming..Version: 7.0.2

DrThis app is fantastic to help me understand the relationship of the earth to the stars.Version: 7.0.3

Excellent planetarium softwareWorks well with the Celestron Wi-Fi . Even shows moon eclipse phases..Version: 7.0.3

UpdatesJust why do we the people who purchased your app in the first place have to keep paying for every update that you put out.A lot of the other apps don’t charge for any of there updates.Just for this reason I giving you a 3 star rating..Version: 7.0.3

CGEMIncapable de contrôler la CGEM.Version: 7.3.1

Own All Three Versions5, 6, and now 7 and honestly there is not much difference. Version 6 However has one advantage and that is the ability to hide the menu bar at the bottom of the page. With version 7 it's stuck on the view page. 7 is less confusing if using with a telescope and this app is basically designed for viewing with a scope and is the best mobile app for doing so. It remains accurate and precise and easy to use so am happy to support this developer..Version: 7.0.2
