Great app, please add remote shutter supportUpdate, used this all today for eclipse. And the total eclipse feature worked great. Got some great pics (for iPhone) of Corona and even some faint prominences This is a great app, it makes much better pictures of the sun that the native camera app. It also defaults to the 5x camera while the normal photo app switches depending on light conditions. It would be even better if it added remote shutter support either from the Apple Watch or one of this Bluetooth shutters. I know this app is for handheld photos but many might mount the phone to a tripod or on binoculars or telescope. For people using a telescope it would be nice if the app also offered support for the normal lens on phones. However for handheld photos of the sun this app in its current form is great..Version: 1.2
Bluetooth MissingWhile I’ve only played with the app a couple times taking pics of the sun there is one critical feature that’s missing. Bluetooth support. Considering that many people may want to use a tripod to help steady their shot, especially if zoomed in being able to trigger the shutter via Bluetooth should be standard. All that happens is the trigger increases my Ringer volume. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max with the latest iOS release. I’d think with the last total eclipse in the continental US until 2045 that this wouldn’t be missing. With that said, none of my 3rd party camera apps do this either - Moment, Camera+, Nightcap. Yet Filmic and MoviePro do allow Bluetooth to start and stop video recording. The other apps that can do video don’t work in video mode either. I took off one star due to this. Though maybe that’s just they way it is..Version: 1.2
Great! Turn up the screen brightnessA. Great app! I used it to photograph the annular solar eclipse from the suburbs of Albuquerque. I left the kit at home. I used the app on an iPhone 13 Pro. My wife used the app on an iPhone X. We each used an improvised filter cut out from approved, silvered solar viewing glasses. The material caused an orange color and some haloes. What worked well. The autofocus worked great! I did not need to lock it. I could not photograph the sunspot that we saw through binoculars but that may have been the filter. The partial 60-sec timer. Changes. For some of us, the Zoom and Exp buttons got stuck on the left edge and needed tapping a few times. Maybe make them a few pixels bigger. Put the time on the screen so that we do not have to close the app to see the time. Annular eclipse is a bit over exposed even at the lowest exposure but that may be our filter. b. Combined with a suitable filter, it provides easy adjustment of the zoom, exposure, and focus. There is a button to take photos at regular intervals, an intervalometer. It worked well during the 2023 annular eclipse. You can temporarily attach an approved filter material to the phone using masking tape or binder clips! c. In April 2024, we got the filter kit. It went on easily and the Velcro pad stayed on the back of the phone. After you put on the filter, turn up the screen brightness. Now you can see the dim image onscreen while squinting towards the partially eclipsed sun and the bright sky! It was too cloudy to use the app. d. Try a zoom from near 4 to 15 and exposure near -2. For each eclipse, the autofocus worked well and we did not have to manually adjust focus. e. Unclear which lens it uses on a multi-lens phone. For example, for a 6X zoom does it use the 2X lens and 3X optical zoom or 5X lens and 1.2X digital zoom?.Version: 1.2
Amazing!!NASA recommended to buy a filter for your cell phone camera and posted a few web stores to buy them from. The filter that Solar Snap uses was the highest rated one, so I bought it. I’m so freaking happy I did! We drove 10+ hours to see the totality of the eclipse on 4/8/24 and this app and filter made our photos! The app lets you adjust for Focus, Zoom, and Exposure and that made all the difference! I even took a few photos without using Solar Snap and you can’t tell we were at an eclipse. Others I know also used Solar Snap and were extremely pleased. I will definitely use this app for future eclipses!.Version: 1.2
Great app and works so well! Clear eclipse photos!I never write reviews on apps but this app is great. I have a fancy iPhone camera that takes not so great photos of the eclipse ( even with adjusting the exposure and all sorts of stuff) but they never come out clear. Which is sad. I found this app because I have their physical solar filter and I’m finally able to take clear photos of the eclipse because of this app. I’m so happy because I finally got to experience the eclipse and I’m so happy. Short: good app, clear photos, and it’s free. Pls download you will thank me later..Version: 1.2
This might be the best space app I’ve ever downloadedThe greatest thing about this app is you can zoom in on anything and increase the brightness lower the brightness and you don’t just have to do it on the sun you can also do it on anything also you can take pictures of the new music this app I took a picture of my dog and it had better focus set my camera I love this app I recommend this🤘🏻.Version: 1.2
Loved using this appWhile I wasn’t able to figure out how to get the partial eclipse I was able to get some great pics of the Solar Eclipse this year thanks to this app for my phone. They came out so well and I’ve gotten many compliments on what great pics they are. Thank you Solar Snap. Really appreciate this app. Plus I didn’t have to pay a premium or sign up. Just download and use. Easy and very good..Version: 1.2
Great app. Leaving a 5-star before uninstallGreat app, allowed me to take beautiful eclipse pictures just with my iphone. I wish there would be solar eclipse everyday so I could use this app on a daily basis 😆. Unfortunately that’s not the case. I feel sorry to uninstall this excellent app the day after the eclipse. But I will make sure Im coming back in 20 years when the next total eclipse comes into play. LOL..Version: 1.2
Solar eclipseI enjoy this app because you can see the moon and the sun when the moon orbits the sun and also this app is really useful to me because when the moon walked out the sun, it gets dark and that’s why I like this app and last thing I also prefer this app very useful because when the solar eclipse happens, I like how it lasts for like five minutes and not a long time. Sincerely, Dom..Version: 1.2
Fun app that makes decent picturesReally enjoyed messing with the sliders on this app while taking pictures. Pictures are pretty decent quality too for trying to take pictures of the sun on a cell phone. Much much better than if you just tried to take a regular picture.Version: 1.1
Thanks for the awesome appThis app was phenomenal for taking amazing Solar eclipse photos with my iPhone max. Super crisp. The auto total eclipse setting was wonderful for hands off photos while I was able to watch the eclipse. Thank you so much for creating this app and giving me great memories of the eclipse from Ohio..Version: 1.2
Exceeded our expectations!!!This app worked great with the solar kit that contained 2 sets of glasses & phone lens covers. We were at Big Bend National Park for the partial eclipse & we had some of the best pictures taken with an iPhone compared to other visitors. So glad I got this for all the family!!!.Version: 1.2
GORGEOUS!If I could give this app 100 stars, I would. This app made my photos unreal to look at and was a life saver for the eclipse. People thought I used a professional camera but it was really just my iPhone. Definitely use this app when there is a solar eclipse..Version: 1.2
Missing one key feature…… the ability to use a remote shutter button. Most remote shutter buttons for iOS work by emulating a volume button press. In the iOS camera app, this triggers a capture. In the Solar Snap app, the volume buttons don’t trigger a capture and thus, the remote shutter buttons don’t work..Version: 1.1
Kept my gear from eclipsing my experienceFANTASTIC APP that allowed me to use an older iPhone 8+ as a camera on a small tracking scope (ETX90) to capture great shots of the April 2024 eclipse. Auto-bracketing on preselected timer intervals is a GENIUS move. Now get to work on some more iPhone Astrophotography apps!!.Version: 1.2
Wonderful appThe app and the filters were easy to use, and we have some fantastic photos of the solar eclipse as a result. The sliders made it easy to adjust the settings on the fly. Thank you so much for making this app!.Version: 1.2
Works As AdvertizedThe app did exactly what the App Store description said it would. In conjunction with a filter, I was able to get great photos of the eclipse. Bonus points for not harvesting every byte of data off my iPhone..Version: 1.2
Awesome experienceThis app with the accompanying filter made our eclipse experience absolutely awesome. Would absolutely recommend it for anyone. Try out the totality mode prior to the totality stage. It made all the difference in picture quality..Version: 1.2
Worked great for me!With mostly clouds fine tuning the focus wasn’t really possible but the instructions, zooming and tips made it easy for me to take a few photos I liked..Version: 1.2
Works wellI wanted a good photo when experiencing the solar eclipse and the regular camera didn’t capture it well. This was easy to use and I downloaded it right before the eclipse and got some good shots..Version: 1.2
You won’t know that you need the features until you use themThe three snaps at different exposures let me pick the best and so I did not have a bad shot!.Version: 1.2
Needs a way to select the lens being usedFor iPhones with multiple cameras, the app needs a way to select which camera to use. Zoom is all digital at present, so quality could be much improved..Version: 1.0.2

Fantastic controls easy to useThere’s a bunch of lame apps out there but not this one. Fast slider controls for zoom, focus and o lover/underexpose are fantastic. Go for it. We will see what happens on October 14 here in Santa Fe NM.Version: 1.1
AmazingQuick download 10 minutes before totality was well worth it..Version: 1.2

I highly recommend this app and the filter for iPhone 13 Pro MaxUsed the app for the solar eclipse on 08 April 2024. Got great photos before, during and after Totality! A little practice beforehand goes a long way. Sometimes keeping the sun off centre produces a better photo. So glad I found this app and bought the Sun filter and glasses for this once in my lifetime experience!.Version: 1.2
Fantastic app for the 2024 eclipseFar superior app to using the iPhone camera app for taking pictures of the 2024 eclipse. Five star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.Version: 1.2
Great appTakes amazing and clear photos.Version: 1.2
No camera flip? safety badSince all iphones have both front and back cameras, why did they not allow selecting the user facing camera? this would eliminate the need to look upwards to where the sun is in order to press the camera shutter 🤷♂️ this seems like an obvious omission and is so bad that i give the app only 3 stars when the rest of its implementation (like the handy timelapse and filtering functions) would be 5 stars. good try lads..Version: 1.2
