Made the NYC subway easyWe just returned from 4 days in New York and KickMap made navigating the city a breeze. Just put in where you want to go and it gives you step by step what to do. The first step will tell you which subway station to walk to from your location and which train you need to take. The key here is to push the map and it will show how to get to that station. The other apps I tried did not do this and without the map it’s real easy to go to the wrong station. The next steps will tell you which train to take and which stop to get off, and how many stops there will be in between. At the step where you exit it gives you a map with walking directions to your destination. I’m an old guy who lives in the country, so if I can do this anyone can. Love My KickMapI have used KickMap from first on my IPod, then IPad and finally my Iphone. It is the most user friendly NYC Subway app ever! There is no more guessing if certain similar lines with the same color will actually get you to your destination. For example, on the classic subway map, I would have a difficult time telling which subway lines would take me to the American Museum of Natural History. KickMap made it easy to differentiate between the A and C line with different shades of blue. No more accidental stops in Morningside Heights. Great cartographyThat's really what you are paying five bucks for. And this map is truly a superior subway map in every way...it should be the new NYC map. In the meantime, this app is how you can get the map. I am a map geek so I love it. Most subway riders don't need it though. I think the volume strategy at 99 cents would get far more dissemination but what do I know. It's a great, smooth little app, but it's one map - good thing it's such a good one..Version: 0
Best NYC Subway MapIt just needs some refinement. For example, the map has been updated to show that the Montague Street Tunnel is closed for repair from damage sustained by Superstorm Sandy. If the app is set to alert for the R train, it constantly sends alerts that a Queens/Manhattan R train won't go to Brooklyn, and vice versa. I don't want that alert. I know that the tunnel is closed. I only want to be alerted if the R train's current route is interrupted or delayed..Version: 3.2.9
I like itThe zooming is very smooth and aesthetic. The view switches between day and night at a touch of the button. Holding down on a station brings up the train schedule, and you can select to a map (from Google) with pins on it where the entrances are. Although some of the entrances around Penn Station were missing. There is a button for alerts. These guys did a lot of nice professional work on this app and it shows. So far I am very pleased with this, and expected to use it daily, as I do service call work in the city..Version: 3.0.9
